Summoner Spells Back to Top

We're jungling, boys.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

This is a preference. I have a lot of games on Aatrox so I've gained a better understanding of when I can and can't go in without getting instantly popped. This lets me make great use of Warlord's bloodlust since it gets better the lower health you are. If you're struggling with getting bursted repeatedly, then go ahead and get Strength of Ages.

This is where jungling Aatrox is most different from lane Aatrox. Lane Aatrox plays a war of attrition. You poke them down with E while out sustaining them with W until you can Q into them to clean up. Jungle Aatrox is about staying healthy while power-farming to gank and counter gank with as much health as possible. It's about having enough health that you can pull off a tower dive with a bit of damage before your passive pops. It's about being able to drain-tank objectives at level 3 if you want (you need a 2nd point in W if you wanna pull this cheese). It's about dueling without wasting your time poking. This is Aatrox jungle, baby, and he auto attacks for days.

We get one point into Q so we can charge our passive up before the camp starts and take a little bit less damage from the first camp because of the little bit of CC. There's no need to charge more than once, so Q at 1:23 and it'll be up for the first camp. (Even though the cooldown is up at 1:39 the animation won't land until 1:40)

Max E second so you can poke and peel more effectively come teamfighting.

Build order is important.

For your first back you should be buying a Tiamat 3077.png. We do this because Aatrox's infinite sustain can let him easily and effectively power-farm the jungle indefinitely should you fall behind. Also, the burst from the active and raw attack damage can give you the burst you need to gank more effectively.

Now, depending on how the game goes you need to be heading into your phantom dancer. The movespeed also helps you farm and gank, and the crit is a cherry on top. I, like many of you, was skeptical at first about getting one crit item on Aatrox because his kit doesn't need crit. You're not getting the PD for the crit, you're getting it for the damage reduction passive. Pseudo-Resistances are amazing on Aatrox because they let him live long enough to be an extremely effective drain-tank. Typically your inventory will start to look like this:

1041.png3077.png1042.png1042.png1042.png1001.png
1041.png3077.png3046.png

At this point you start to have a few more options. I've been having lots of success getting my skirmisher's saber after my phantom dancer and boots because that combination completes the true damage reduction combination. Just be sure to tell your team when you've smited an enemy champion BEFORE starting an objective like dragon, rift herald, or baron so everyone is on the same page. You can complete your boots after or before your skirmisher's, just don't sit on two incomplete jungle items!

Now that you have all of your true damage reduction, you can get some burst reduction. Building components of the death's dance really doesn't have a bad path, but if I had to guess I would say that Lifesteal > raw AD > CDR. The lifesteal just helps your healthbar stay up that little bit longer so you can farm a little bit more with blood thirst. Really though, there's not a bad combination.

3715.png3077.png3046.png3047.png3812.png

At this point in the game you've reached the point in the build where it doesn't really matter what you build. Are their tanks fed? Finish your bloodrazor. Are teamfights super close? Get a guardian angel or finish your Hydra. Do you need help with map control? Get a Zz'Rot. Anything you build will be good, but those are the three main choices you have.

3715.png3077.png3046.png3047.png3812.png3512.png

Whatever you decide is best comes with experience. We don't live in a black and white world. Just don't try to solo baron until you have your bloodrazor and a bit of armor.

VS

Amumu

Easy

He's better in teamfights, but he can't invade you to mess with you specifically. You can bully him at his red if you want.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Same as Amumu. You can mess him up at his red.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

Another strong level 2 invader. Just don't get cheesed.

VS

Master Yi

Medium

Be wary of invades. Start 3 pots instead of refillable just in case. After your first clear you should be fine, though. Don't duel him until you have skirmisher's.

VS

Rengar

Easy

You can cheese him at his 2nd buff. He can try to invade you at your first buff, but if you play it right you'll pop passive and he'll die. Spam ping so your team collapses BEFORE your passive gets popped.

VS

Shaco

Medium

Just don't get cheesed at your buff and you'll be fine. Start 3 pot.

VS

Udyr

Medium

We've all played against it. Don't try to duel him too early. His bear stance is tough.
