Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png FLASH

Honestly wouldn't use it if it wasn't so good. Flash is ideal for multiple reasons.
1. It is an effective way to ensure your safety before you gain your ultimate at lvl 6. So if you are pressured hard by the enemy jungler, getting ganked from a support or just need a clean escape from a sticky situation? Flash is universally legit for these purposes. You can flash over walls and terrain to ensure safety.
2.Flash can be used aggressively as well.

14.pngIGNITE

Standard for Ahri, simply because of the pressure you have over the game to pick up kills. This summoner spell allows you to remove all healing effects from champions. This reduces their healing and allows you to pick up nice kills. Good vs champions who have healing abilities. sonaariaofperseverance.png37.png for example. Or the adc's 7.png

12.pngTELEPORT

Allows you to teleport to any ally ward, tower or minion even if you are across the map. Team fight breaks out? This summoner spell puts pressure on the entire map because, you are now capable of being anywhere at anytime on the map when off cooldown.

MASTERIES

12 fer, 18 cunning. Still thunderlords is great on Ahri. Courage of the colossus seems fun, something i might try, but i don't see the need for it on this champion.

Possible alterations is 5 points into meditation, for mana regan but a dorans ring and morello's solves this problem. Also mana regan blues does as well. So it's not necessary, especially when merciless gives 5% damage increase for low targets, which makes assassinating or picking up a kill more viable.

-Recall trait removed : So no more quick recall's after overextending to farm or after you just killed someone. So you need to be aware of your recall now, you can't just recall after killing someone, you kinda have to deal with 3-4 people coming to get you now. So make sure to make good use of your ulti charges and summoner cooldowns.

-The resolve tree holds insight. Which is too good to pass up, since it gives a nice cooldown on flash ignite and teleport. But i'm not using that trait, because you can get the same cooldown with lucidity boots now. They should've added them to sorcerer boots and berserker grieves... since they didn't you just have to make do.

So in total, damage amplification was unchanged when set up this way(When reffering S4/5/6, so you still get a 12%+ damage increase. Still using double edged sword, it was buffed. Bounty hunter and battle stance is also viable.

Last note is the Assassin trait over runic affinity or biscuit. My playstyle leans towards Assassin/Mage so i'm looking to charm and pick off someone as the game goes on all the time, this trait leans right into my gameplay. And hopefully your playstyle as Ahri. I don't use runic affinity because I personally tend to give blue buff to the jungler if i'm mid(so they can clear camps quicker and get to ganking your lane or side lanes with a bit more ease, plus this helps out mana reliant junglers like amumu or helps that vi get her ult again) or if i'm top i give it to the ally mid laner. But there is instances, like before a huge baron fight i take blue buff for better mana management so i can kite and poke better without running out of mana too quickly.

**If you're into knowing the exact numbers at which you can you burst someone, find those details out by calculating your AP build(just with 3 items) at level 18 plus the abilities damage and calculated in the scaling ap ratios. Once you finished this times that by .12% you get a number add it to your original number and you can really see the burst potential. I have calculated these numbers for various champions i play to get an exact number of damage i can get off if i so happen to land all my skills. I would post these numbers, but let's not and say i did.

ahripassive.png Soul Eater(Essence Theft)

ahriorbofdeception.png Orb of Deception

Cost: 65/70/75/80/85 Mana

Ahri sends out and pulls back her orb, dealing magic damage on the way out and true damage on the way back. Ahri gains movement speed that decays while her orb is traveling.

Deals 40/65/90/115/140 (+35% Ability Power) magic damage on the way out, and 40/65/90/115/140 (+35% Ability Power) true damage on the way back.Ahri gains movement speed that decays while her orb is traveling.

ahrifoxfire.png Fox-Fire

Cost: 50 Mana

Ahri releases three fox-fires, that lock onto and attack nearby enemies.

Releases three fox-fires that lock on to nearby enemies (prioritizes Champions) dealing 40/65/90/115/140 (+40% Ability Power) magic damage.Enemies hit with multiple fox-fires take 30% damage from each additional fox-fire beyond the first, for a maximum of 0 damage to a single enemy.

ahriseduce.png Charm

Cost: 85 Mana

Ahri blows a kiss that damages and charms an enemy it encounters, causing them to walk harmlessly towards her.

Blows a kiss dealing 60/95/130/165/200 (+50% Ability Power) magic damage and charms an enemy causing them to walk harmlessly towards Ahri for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 second(s).

ahritumble.png Spirit Rush

Cost: 100 Mana

Ahri dashes forward and fires essence bolts, damaging 3 nearby enemies (prioritizes Champions). Spirit Rush can be cast up to three times before going on cooldown.

Nimbly dashes forward firing 3 essence bolts at nearby enemies (prioritizes Champions) dealing 70/110/150 (+30% Ability Power) magic damage. Can be cast up to three times within 10 seconds before going on cooldown.

*** Things to note in this specific build path, is to look at the points into charm early. Depending on match ups a lvl 5 charm could easily be replaced by a lvl 5 Q. 2 points messes up people's timing, some people count to 1 when charmed so they can finally break free, split seconds messes with their timings. Also a stronger charm allows you to get off the return damage from your orb. Can also put a second point into E at level 7. Then place a 4th point of Q at level 8 then max rank at 9.

At lvl 13 you're really strong, a maxed E gets off a secure return Q, for nice poke, peel, kite and assassination. Comes down to how ahead you and resistances of your enemy. You have magier abilities for kiting and CC for peel plus with a stronger charm you still have the damage to assassinate people if you so solemnly choose to. This build focuses on you to focus and to fully rely on landing all your shots. If you land E, Q is free to and back and W R will pick up the kill. Sometimes you may not even need to Rahritumble.png at all, if you just land E ahriseduce.png.

For match ups, in which i will go further into depth for each individual one, you may want to max Q over putting 2 early points into E, simply because of their wave clear potential. Throwing some early points into E is usually used to stop champions from outright coming at you with damage and locking a single target into possible cc chain and your Q. They ate charm? Time to all in. Good for top lane Ahri. They ate charm-Q, Good poke.

*Altered ability build path, simply a lvl 5 rank 2 charm is situational. So i moved it to lvl 8 you can pick up a rank 2 charm. Should probably clear up confusion, since i have gotten in game questions as per when to max charm. Usually top lane works well and if you want to break even on CC vs champions like Malphite, Jax, Hecarim etc.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Corrupting potion is good vs Poke heavy champions or if you want to sustain. Boots is great vs Xerath and Cassiopeia
Go dark seal if your ahead, basically an early mejai's, grab one if you're looking to stack up kills and assists for some added damage. Doran's if you want some health and mana on last hits.

Core Items

This should always be your core, finish off pene boots early if ahead or enemy is building early MR. If your ahead and want rabadans, go ahead and build straight into it. Then finish off with lucidity boots and a void staff. Then Rylais for pick of potential and team fight kiting.
Top lane Ahri, depending on match up, you may want rabbadans before zhonyas or rylais first.
    Support Ahri ;)

Situational Items

All situational, if your unconfident in your ability to fight an enemy ap laner grab abyssal scepter first. If your worried about AD burst then go zhonyas, if your looking to just farm and want excellent mana management grab rod of ages or Hextech HLP-800.
Situational for things like Maokai roots, Lissandra ults, Malzahar ults, Morgana, etc
    READ NOTES
2033.png this item gives a nice passive which can be used at al lstages of the game, combined with Thunderlords it has some nice spikes early levels and mid - late game. Since we can't auto attack to increase damage then Q for poke, we can now just burn our enemies with auto attacks and poke. So drink some of the pink juice, sustain and burn your enemy. I've noticed some little damage spikes with the item and thunderlords, really nice. The item gives now more health than the previous flask. Has 3 refillable charges and allows you to sustain in lane. This can be situational if you want to outlive a pokey champion. Still trying to find out when to take this item over dorans first. Simply because Ahri's passive has been nerfed countless times, i like sustain! Following this 1st buy you can go 1082.png to rack up some extra 30 damage if you gain 10 glory. If you can keep the glory plus the morello's into rabbadans rush, you notice a nice little boost in damage. It' actually really nice, but the only downside is you can't last hit for mana and the item gives no health. So really an item that rely's on you to manage 100 extra mana and no health. If you find the item lackluster in defense, try health per lvl yellow runes when using dark seal. Then when you're full on items sell the dark seal for needlessly large rod to build into anything situational, like rylais for kite and poke maybe a good zhonyas etc.

Once you finished your core it's really up to you to decide what you want/need for the game. Whether it be kiting with rylais 3116.png, a really well timed zhonya's, or just some healing with will of the ancients. The sky is the limit.
The build revolves around morello's 1st. Reduce all enemies healing, so tanks, supports whoever.

Also boots are situational, if you're noticing the cooldown changes on your summoner spells go lucidity boots. Then build a void staff as a 3rd item if you can. The problem with lucidity boots is you miss out on loads of damage compared to sorcerer. But with sorcerer and void you penetrate a bit too much. But the damage is really nice. So you have to choose extra CDR for faster spell casting or sorcerer boots where your abilities hit for just that damage. Sorcerer boots if they are building early MR, if they didn't up to you to choose between the two.

NEW: 3065.png
 Spirit Visage(Viable Late Game Item)

+500 health

+55 magic resistance

+200% base health regeneration

+10% cooldown reduction

Passive: Increases effectiveness of all sources of healing by 25%, including health regeneration, life steal and spell vamp.

Ahri's Passive Soul Eater(Essence Theft) allows Ahri to enjoy significantly increased self heal. The heal at late game is best when combined with her orb if you are capable of hitting multiple targets, especially in team fights. But being that the way you heal is up to the player and your orb may be on cooldown when the passive is up, we're going to say she heals with Foxfires or ult. 18+9% AP(630~ AP, from masteries, see rune page 9 and my core build[see core build in above section] with 4 items). From calculations with this spec and spirit visage, using Ahri's passive with foxfire's alone will heal you for an amazing 285. That's almost a 300 heal. Ahri becomes extremely tanky between scaling health per level yellow runes, Rylais and spirit visage capping you at 1k extra health. Add in the damage and you have Ahri. If you enjoy Ahri's passive, you will love this item on her in the late game. I skipped some of the math, but the numbers are there for you to calculate yourself if you wish. Don't forget the items AP(especially if you're running a different build than i as your numbers will be way off), the number of targets hit with whichever spell you choose to calculate and the .25 increase from the item on Ahri's passive heal itself. Replace corrupting potion with spirit visage as your 6th item, in situational cases or add it to your late game arsenal. Enjoy!!

VS

Ahri

Medium

This match up can go either way, it comes down to who landed their shots for poke. Eat too many ahriorbofdeception.png and she will all in. If she lands charm she will probably all in. Throwing points into charm vs another Ahri can be fun, simply because what i said earlier about timings. Focus on hitting Q on her, punish her for missing charm. After 6, it becomes tricky to charm an Ahri in mid ult, so focus on landing it first then all you have todo is focus on hitting your other spells. The slight problem in this match up, is the passive. Poking her isn't always worth it in the beginning, simply because she will heal back up. As will you. But still capable of killing her pre 6. Just comes down to who poked better or who ate charm after 6. As far as team fights goes, i would recommend picking someone off, either the enemy Ahri or an enemy in general. Overall give this matchup a medium simply because if you 1v1 another Ahri main, things get flashy.

VS

Akali

Hard
This match up is straight up medium. Out push her before lvl 6. Punish her with Auto attacks if she wants to last hit. Under tower poke with QW combo. Post 6, it's best to roam at this point. Snowball the game, grab a red trinket or pink ward. She should be an easy kill too. But don't under estimate her, but neither should she under estimate you. If she gets cocky and wants to tower dive. Charm her under turret make her eat tower shots, she ends her R behind you. Dash around her since you have nothing to dodge and she should die.

VS

Anivia

Easy

Annoying match up. Simply because her passive makes her extremely hard to kill early game. I would recommend farming. Poke her where you can. If she's low all in, then back away when her egg pops up. Then come back to lane, she no longer has passive and should be relatively eaiser to actually kill this time around. Jungler assistance is a plus. Don't stand in her R for her E poke hurts. Don't get caught by her Q. Roam abit, snowball the game when given the chance

VS

Annie

Medium

Annie, can shut you down and zone you out of lane and 100-0 you at lvl 6. She has ridiculous damage and it's better to just out push her. If she has her stun charges up, and wants to Q you, make sure it isn't a jungle gank happening, if not just eat her combo pre 6. Land charm then WQ  you should out trade her if your fast on the keys. Post 6, poke with Q and keep your trigger finger on flash. Most annies flash tibbers or Q. If she flashes for the all in, flash to the side or away to miss her ult all together. Don't bother trying to charm first since tibbers will body block it. If you manage to poke her down in lane, a good flash WRQ ignite should pick up the kill. Make sure to flash behind her, since she will most likely tibbers ult to the front. But you can easily pick her off mid to late game if you land charm. Grab a banshees 3102.png  or Qss 3140.png at some point, should mitigate her flash ult potential onto you. Annie is a counter to Ahri in my opinion and shouldn't be taken lightly.  If you fall behind abyssal scepter should save you. Just to be safe, probably the only match up i would actually suggest grabbing health and mr runes.

VS

Azir

Easy

Azir is tricky, simple because he outranges you. But the trick here is to side step his Q poke. You will get hit by the soldier auto regardless. When he Q's you can Q out trading him or EQ. This will make him not want to trade with you. Shove the wave and roam. Post 6, he can be a free kill, if he decides to send a soldier for poke with Q ult in and land your shots. If he ults flash over the wall. Poke him abit before so the all in is much easier.

VS

Brand

Easy

Brand is easy kills. Dodge his w brandfissure.png poke. Poke him with your Q. Post 6 he's a sitting duck, if your time you ulti charges correctly you should be able to dodge his Q and W. Making it a clean kill. He tends to build tanky, so killing him early is a plus. As when he starts to stack health, he may not be as easy to kill him mid - late game.

VS

Cassiopeia

Easy

Start boots, dodge her Q poke. Turn away as she ults. Should be an easy lane and easy kill considering the following is done.

VS

Cho'Gath

Easy

Build Rod of ages into rabbadans and void staff with lucidity boots. He generally gets tanky, so may as well get tanky as well. Side step his knock up and try not to get silenced. A cleanse 1.png spell is good here vs him. You have better potential to pick off people during the game. Pressure him early so he can't stack his R for more health. Try not to get too close to him as his ult deals massive damage.

VS

Darius

Easy

Easy match up for top lane ahri, You won't really be able to kill him solo, unless around lvl 4 if you poked enough. But more than capable of keeping him from killing you. A farm lane, dodge his Q, don't let him E you. Can build rylais first and out kite him for days. Team fight, you deal way more burst damage than him mid - late game. He's a tank who excells at longer fights. Ahri makes fights short, rendering him almost useless opposed to being a meat bag. Roam abit, pick up kills and snowball

VS

Diana

Easy

This match up is so so. Can go either way, dodge her Q poke. Get a banshees mid - late game. If she W-R's you. Charm then ulti away with one charge. Bait her shield, once its gone. WR into her with ignite then Q and R for the damage return. Mid to late game she can blow you up, so banshees or zhonyas should be good.

VS

Ekko

Easy

You counter ekko, with morellos and in general. You're Q returns faster than his, if he E's to you you charm then all in. Ignite him early so he can't get his ulti heal

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Fiddles mid or top. Respect his fear. Keep brush warded since he will likely hide in the bushes so he can charge his ult. Grab an ignite and merc treads. Squishy, killable but has loads of sustain. If he eats Q poke and decides to heal with W. Stop it with charm. Post 6 you can all in if he gets low.

VS

Fiora

Hard

with the most recent changes to fiora, she will be a hard match up for you. Since her Q allows her to dance around your Q. Her W blocks your charm. A must ban, if your top lane vs her. Just dodge champion select. Her E hits too hard and she is almost impossible to 1v1.

VS

Fizz

Medium

If he goes to last hit, poke with Q. E his Q ability, dodge his R. Roam early to snowball, if you managed to kill him goodjob. Slippery fish he is. IF he E's, i would back up early levels so you dont get hit by it. If this is post 6, most definitely dodge it where possible. If he lands his ult chances are you might die. So its important to keep him pressured early with poke and harass.

VS

Galio

Medium

Troll. He builds magic resistance and in turn gains ability power. Save charm to interrupt his ult. Build abyssal sceptar pene boots and possibly void staff early. then rabbadans. Don't let him poke you out of lane. And generally it's not worth 1v1ing this champion, try picking off other enemies.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

His W cleanses your E. His EEQ combo does ridiculous damage. Don't bother fighting him unless ahead or he's low. He crits for insane damage before the 20 minute marker if ahead. Makes zero sense.

VS

Garen

Easy

This is a match up that requires you to put some early points into your E. Enough points to break to even with his Q. He is tanky, so he is hard to kill. But kite-able with rylais.

VS

Gnar

Easy

Fun match up, you get to teach gnar the power of a returning skill shot that actually does damage. Dodge his Q. Don't let him AA you, EW combo him if he tries. Stay clear of his ulti. If you allow him to get ahold of you, chances are you might die. But if you escape, you can kite him easily. Killable when in gnar mode even easier in mega gnar mode.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

Charm used to stop his ult. Best to throw enough points into charm early so you both break even on CC when he ults. Also charm stops his E from bombarding you for stupid damage. A farm lane mostly, you both push the wave with Q. He sustains you sustain, it comes down to jungler ganks and team fights. he smashes into your team you smash into theirs, you get the idea.

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

annoying. Dodge his turret poke. Dodge his E and W. After all that focus on keeping your wave from being pushed. Either start rushing 3174.pngso you can keep up with wave clear. OR rush 3089.png to out push him. Kill-able but requires patience and Q poke. i suggust grabbing mana regan blues. For better laning since he starts to push fast. Don't allow him to stack up 3 turrets, destroy them when possible, otherwise his waveclearing will overpower you leaving your turret low on health.

VS

Irelia

Medium

This can go either way, best if a jungler ganks early for you. Basically look for if the irelia, autos a caster minion if she does, she is planning to Q the minion for the reset then Jump to stun you. Her W active does true damage. So building health or armor doesn't solve the problem. Post 6 she spikes in damage. Best to give irelia some distance and cs where you can. Capable of killing her, but if she snowballs she is a pain to deal with.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

Charm stops ult. Use it to your advantage, charm stops his knockup combo. Dodge his Q poke and stay on your toes. If he locks his own team up in his ulti they eat all your damage for free since they have no where togo. Use this to your advantage. If he snowballs, chances are he will 1 shot you. So don't let him kill you in lane or get ahead.

VS

Jax

Easy

Throw some points into E. So as he is about to stun you break even on cc. Your cc deals damage. So EW combo then when he backs, Q for poke. Once low all in, tower dive whatever floats your boat. Easy match up.

VS

Jayce

Medium

dodge his poke!!! IF you don't you will be forced out of lane unless you want him to kill you. Dodge his poke and land yours, then the tides have turned. Care for hammer burst. But overall a decent match up top or mid.

VS

Kalista

Medium

kalista mid. Fighting her grab armor runes and zhonyas. she chunks pretty hard and is hard to pin down with e, since her passive hops her all over the lane. If you land it should be an easy kill.

VS

Karthus

Easy

Dodge his Q, he is squishy early on so he is an easy kill. What makes this match up difficult somewhat is the fact that he can still cast while dead due to his passive. So if you think you killed him think again. Continue dodging Q, you eat his E regardless. Zhonyas his R.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

You out push him pre 6. So shove away, take tower, roam and snowball. If he gets ahead in lane or in game, he's impossible to lane against. His Q poke can be annoying. Try not to spam too much post 6 as it gives him his E. If he blinks in, charm him. Once his shield is gone all in him. He has a small window when he cant blink again, use this to your advantage as your ulti has 3 dashes. Late game he is a monster capable of 1 shotting you. So try not to stall that late with this champion on your enemy roster.

VS

Katarina

Hard
Reworked kat. Is tricky to me and still working on a solution to her... will update later.

VS

Kha'Zix

Hard

He jumps lvl 1. Grab charm 1st vsing him. So when he decides to jump hop onto you, you can charm him and stop him from AA. Poke when you can with Q. He has lackluster waveclear due to his W nerfs. So shove him out of lane when you can. But don't be foolish to overextend pre 6 since he can gain distance on you fairly easily. Post 6 things become a bit fun, as he stealths around. Grab a pink or red trinket. If he gets ahead he is a pain to deal with. Like Leblanc kassadin or katarina. Another assassin, so try to pick good team fights as he will try to clean up. If you managed to kill him early on, keep applying pressure onto him from then on and make sure he isn't able to come back. A good khazix is sure to make you rage quit.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

kog mid, is annoying. He is weaker early levels and has no escape's besides maybe flash. So if your aggressive you could kill him and snowball. But if he is passive til 6, then roam abit and try to gain advantages where you can. Don't let him outpoke your enemy in team fights or while pushing. Best to catch him out by himself and blow him up given the chance

VS

LeBlanc

Medium
Reworked LeBlanc is alot of what she used to be. She is easier now to focus because of her passive. They can use their RR ability to clone themselves but a much higher cooldown than a constant 60 second mind game as to which Leblanc is which Leblanc.

She has the potential to E-R you now and vice versa. No slow on the E or  R but if shes maxing it and you stay in range of the tether you might be a dead fox. If shes building abyssal immediately do the same. Sometimes you can get away beating her with just a 1057.png. If she lands E or  RE try to get out of range before your rooted... Still working on fighting the new LeBlanc, will update later...

--- This is old LeBlanc and most of it still applies to her currently.

Honestly a fun match up for me, since it's what i prefer the most when it comes to fighting an enemy champion. Leblanc has the kit to really test just how good of an Ahri you really are. Her kit is similar to yours in the sense that you both are capable of blinking. She blinks at lvl 1. The trick here is to punish Leblanc if she tries to be aggressive onto you, if she W's in just E W her. Then Q the wave. Shoving the wave here where available is important. But beware, over extending vs a good Leblanc could very well be the death of you. And vice versa. If your an incredible Ahri, Leblanc should NOT be able to smash onto with W. Her QRQ poke is abit trickier to avoid, since you can't. But if she wasted her WQR combo onto you, you can all in her, just dodge her E. I suggest focusing on pushing her out of lane. Focus on stopping her advances with your E, if you don't you will be out traded. If she manages to kill you early on this lane it's over and she will snowball extremely hard making you as useless as a wet noodle. If your both even i suggest roaming without falling behind in levels. Make good use of your passive and try not to spam vs her, since she is the type of champion who excels at all inning someone when they use an ability in the first place. If you happen to die to her or a jungle gank, or your afraid of leblanc all together because you aren't confident in your ability to fight her at any stage of the game, i can only suggest getting MR runes or health runes. Build an early abyssal scepter into morello's into rabbadans. But if you aren't worried about the leblanc go ahead with the Health runes, morello's into rabbadans build. She is squishy and if you stay on your toes she won't even be able to touch you. A great Ahri puts this magician in her place.

VS

Lee Sin

Easy

lee sin mid or top is annoying. skill based actually. Dodge his Q, which he will try to W to a minion to try to fire off. IF he connects it and comes at you charm then all in. If he decides to Q you then connect it with a flash R from behind stay on your toes to Flash behind him so he kicks you away opposed to say the enemy jungler. If he gets cocky and W's to shield whatever, he has no escape. All in him and punish him for using his abilities without thinking.

VS

Lissandra

Easy

Grab cleanse or ignite. Punish her for using E to farm. If she decides to all in good luck. Your Q out ranges her, so poke her down then all in. Try not to tower dive her as she can lock you up under turret. Also in team fights beware her potential to lock you down for an easy kill. But ban worthy in my opinion simply because all she has to do is ult someone and the fight is already over. Usually...

VS

Lulu

Easy

Some ahri mains consider her a hard counter to Ahri. She is just hard to kill. But if you pressure her, she lacks damage. You can kill her if you grab ignite. Her team fight potential is huge, so its best if you pick someone off before hand. Or force her ult somehow via a jungle gank or yourself

VS

Lux

Easy

fun match up, dodge her E spell. If she Q's, you E. Your E used to rupt her ulti, must have been a bug that they silently fixed. She squishy, can be killed at any stage of the game. Just don't let her out poke you. If she is running barrier killing might be harder, try to poke her down so you bait her barrier. Then when you come back to lane you have a better chance to obliterate her. Just dont get hit by that Q!

VS

Malphite

Medium

This champion used to be easy for Me since charm interrupted his ulti, but since it doesn't you have two options. Flash or ulti away. Poke hard early levels with autos and Q if he tries to last hit. Build maybe athene's or ROA if hes going AP simply because his Q poke can be extremely annoying at a certain point. Then finish off with rabbadans into either rylais zhonyas and maybe a Qss or banshees. If he's ap and your maxing charm, you can still charm him mid ult just means you break even on cc. Which levels the playing field because now he cant get off his we combo and you get to rush around him for free damage. Depends on how fast you are on your keys, if you dont flash his R he might kill you if you dont build mr or health items. Start with health per level yellows for one and maybe magic resistance blues. IF HES GOING TANKY. then it should be a piece of cake, he will probably be hard to kill, but easy to lane against. trickier into the game as his ult is huge team initiation...

VS

Malzahar

Easy

Build health, so if he flash R's you, you can live through it. Killable, just stay on your toes. As he ults charm him to rupt his ult. Steer clear of his E alzaharmaleficvisions.png ability as it moves onto the next enemy champion or minion after being killed. He pushes fairly fast so its best to just farm where you can opposed to wasting Q to poke him, since the wave is pushing against you now. Grab a 3140.png QSS at some point early to negate his ult.

VS

Morgana

Easy

Farm lane. Poke her with Q when you can. All in her lvl 6. Bait her shield, then charm. If unable to bait her shield your WR damage should shred right through it. Don't allow yourself to be caught in the second half of her ulti as it stuns. Cleanse is  good here. or QSS

VS

Nasus

Medium

You can try to punish his passive laning phase, with AA and orb poke. But the end result is your out of mana and he is still at full health. His passive allows him to sustain in lane for what seems like an endless supply of health. Build rylais first, rush it infact and out kite him. Grab merc treads early on too. He wont be able to touch you or your team mates with this build. Just farm it up early and make sure he doesn't try to come knocking on your towers when your roaming.

VS

Nidalee

Easy

Easy either top or mid. She can push very well. So you can poke her under her turret. Don't eat Q poke. If you do she may try to cougar you, in which case you just charm and all in.

VS

Olaf

Hard

This can go either way mid or top. Honestly a somewhat balanced champion, but does loads of damage. Dodge his Q poke at all costs, don't let him E you. Then his r  breaks your charm last time i checked. Poke and farm lane til you can get some items to really fight him. If he gets ahead he is a monster. His sustain in lane makes him a bit harder to kill. But it can be done, just don't over commit and find yourself out of an escape.

VS

Orianna

Easy

skill match up. Dodge her QW poke, ulti her ulti or flash it. Bait her shield, then all in.

VS

Pantheon

Easy

might want to grab cloth armor 4-5 pots. Only exception because of his Q poke. his early game is horrible to lane against, but falls of mid - late game. But other than his annoying Q poke he is fairly easy to kill. If he snowballs it might be GG.

VS

Poppy

Easy

This champion is troll. Changed to easy since her ult has changed. Don't let her smash into you with E or Q you at all. She deals crazy amounts of bursts.  But being that you can just Charm and ulti away im going to give her an easy. If she gets 3 items she can be impossible to fight almost still. If you come at her, she may just knock you clear across the map. In which case just type in all chat "Thank you." lol

VS

Quinn

Easy

Quinn top. Don't underestimate her post 6 burst. Before 6 it should be an easy lane. Just she has AA damage over you. You can all in her since she is fairly squishy post 6. If you landed a fair amount of poke you can kill her pre 6 too.

VS

Renekton

Medium

Renekton top. Annoying to deal with impossible to kill. IF you do kill him, pat on the back for you. His Q sustain renders any poke from you useless. His constant EW combo can kill you. Then his ulti makes him harder to kill. But he can be killed just patience and hitting skillshots go along way. If he gets cocky and decides to W you under tower, make sure to throw a few points into charm, and charm him into your tower. By firing the skillshot then backing away so he follows. He should die or get chunked.

VS

Rengar

Medium

Rengar top. Respect his brush, ward it!!! He will love to jump out and last hit minions. Then try to hop onto you. This goes either way. He deals insane amounts of damage. But still fairly squishy so you can kill him. Play like an assassin vs him, dodge his E. Then if you get an exclamination point above your head. chances are he ulted and wants to all in you. At which point, this comes down to how fed he is. If he is something like 12/2 its best to ulti away for all dear life. IF he is pretty even with you, wait for him to pop up. charm him then all in. He's fun to fight laning phase and through out the game, hunting each other. Who truly is an animal?

VS

Riven

Hard

One of the most fun match ups. She is annoying yes but fun to fight, pwn the riven! and GG. stay on your toes, make sure she doesnt flash W you. Make sure to poke her down when you can. Her rivenfeint.png dodges your Q. If she decides to run at you with Q's, EWahriseduce.pngahrifoxfire.png combo her. If she's looking to all in, and has her ulti rivenfengshuiengine.png up. It's best to ulti around her as if to kite but not really. Dodge her knock up and stun. She should be a free kill if you manage to get past those two. If she manages to lock you in that, your a dead fox. One of the worst match ups in the game for Ahri simply because a good riven is so hard to fight. But it's so much fun at the same time, i could fight her top lane all day. Just stay on your toes.

VS

Rumble

Easy

Grab mr runes and health. Outpush him pre 6. Poke when you can. Just build athenes and abyssal sceptar. If he's going rylais then go rylais. Make sure to dodge his Erumblegrenade.png and dont stand point blank in his Rrumblecarpetbomb.png. Pick him off during the game, so he isn't an nuisance team fight wise.

VS

Ryze

Medium

new new ryze is annoying, make sure he doesn't have shield up when he comes in to trade. throw some points into charm so when he runeprison.png you, you render him useless to cast abilities. Get some levels and starting building your core or get some health since he tends to build tanky. Then tear through him like a wet napkin.

VS

Shen

Easy

top shen. So this is a farm lane, he is far too tanky to be considered a skill match up. Unless he goes something like ad shen, which is rare. So since its tank shen, just farm up. Out push him when you want. Roam abit, better to not since he will ulti to save someone. So stay in top lane, then ulti or flash ahriseduce.png to interrupt his teleport or his ulti. Grab a rylais at some point to help your team kite him later into the game if it gets to that point.

VS

Singed

Easy

singed top or even mid... Basically if he's top he will eventually push past your tower. So you have a few options here, since minions will constatly be at your tower. Is to freeze the wave in the middle of the lane so they dont attack your tower. You could rush rabbadans and just shove the lane, go roa to get tanky like him, but i find it's Best to build an early rylais to keep him locked down. So whenever you or your team has had enough of his shenanigans, you guys can keep him locked down for the kill. Don't go about chasing him either and die to his poison lol.

VS

Sion

Easy

Tanky top sion. Charm his Q ability as he tries to farm. Poke him when his shield is down. Punish him when his ulti is on cooldown. Killable early game since he clunky and slow.

VS

Swain

Easy

Haven't fought a good swain in a while. But basically this champion is cheesy. Go rylais first, slow him down enough so you team can pick him off. Ignite him early. Grab health and mr runes. Since he can kill you without landind his W swainshadowgrasp.png. Don't try to trade with him post 6. unless your looking to all in. Shove the wave early pre 6 then look to roam where possible. Punish him when his ulti is on cooldown. But dont waste too much mana in doing so since he will heal right back up.

VS

Syndra

Hard
New syndra is a crazy match up. Dodge her Q poke, dodge her E stun. Land charm then all in for the kill. But use your ulti charges to make sure you miss her Q and E. Her R ability isn't enough to kill you on it's own. Just you get really low, with her reworked W it will allow her a 5-7 Orb ult, beware. Barrier21.png sometimes in this match up mitigates alot of her ulti damage or 3.png. If she lands stun onto you or W, chances are you might be dead. So make sure you use your ultimate and flash accordingly.

VS

Talon

Medium

Talon to me can be hard, but i find him easy to lane against. Dodge his Wtalonrake.png, then Q for poke or wave clear. If he E's to you, charm behind your self immediatly. Post 6 don't try to fight him unless he is low or your ahead. He can pull off some insane amount of burst, enough to 100-0 you quickly. Grab a zhonyas early on. And a red trinket or pink ward. The major problem with him is that when he ults to come and try to kill you there is no warning of this unless you keep the map nicely warded. If you decide to push with your team pink ward the lane being pushing. So you can see him coming.

VS

Teemo

Easy

teemo! mid or top. If he's hybrid attack speed spec, then burst him fast as his damage stacks up. Early levels You're Q out ranges him, land it early to ensure he won't be trying to Q you for free damage. Don't let him stack up autos with poison ticks on his E, Just EW combo him then all in lvl 6. He's squishy. Grab a pink ward or red trinket vs teemo so his shrooms aren't a nuisance in the game. If he's going tanky ap with rylais liandri's then you may want a rylais too or a banshees so you just don't get chunked looking for shrooms to destroy. Wota is good vs him, say you get hit by a shroom find a scuttle crab, jungle creep or minion wave and sustain back.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

he's godlike or was. Whichever, he is annoying. Don't turn away from his W, you look like a chicken if you do. Plus it slows... His E does surprising damage so don't underestimate his auto damage with fury either. He's tricky because morello's is great vs him and his sustain, but at the same time that doesn't solve his ultimate problem. Dont overextend him pre 6 or post 6 without ulti or flash. Fighting him 1v1 post 6 is hard simply because you waste almost everything in keeping him off you. So some early charms helps, maxing w doesn't hurt either, except him. Morello's zonyas or rylais. Grab a teleport. So if you decide to roam a bit you can always come back to lane to stop him from split pushing. Also don't come back to lane without ult or flash as this champion loves to tower dive when he has ult.

VS

Vayne

Hard

Vayne currently. She is mostly ADC. But i have faced her top. Wait for her to pop out of stealth then E. Try to catch her out with skillshot prediction when shes not in ult. A good vayne dodges everything and pins you to a wall. If she pins you, as the animation starts try to E at the same time. Don't let her AA you past the 2 shot. If she foolishly decides to go in on her with a tumble crit punish her. If she RQ, wait for stealth to end. IF she's super fed shes crazy to deal with, but possible.

VS

Veigar

Medium

Ban this champion. Build FULL AP! yes you heard me. Morellos into rabbadans into zhonyas and lich bane. Burst him. Dont get caught in his veigareventhorizon.png. You have small room between his veigardarkmatter.png and the stun range of his E. Find a medium between that and you won't take his W damage. You can kill him early levels. But at late game its better to grab a QSS and zhonyas his veigarprimordialburst.pngult. If you don't chances are you will die. He already does extreme amounts of damage on his own. Building full ap seems risky, but when it comes down to bursting him back you need to get the job done. Especially if your waiting in brush for him to walk by for a charm kill. Also grab mr and health runes here. Armor runes will not save you from his ult. Zhonyas will though3157.png

VS

Viktor

Easy

Easy, dodge his E. Poke him with Q, mostly he shoves the wave. so the do the same. If you land EQ poke onto him, you can all in. Later in the game don't be foolish and rush into him and get hit by his ER combo.

VS

Vladimir

Easy

Easy match up. Get magic resistance blues runes and and mana regan yellows. Go athene's into will of the ancients. So now you have the mana to constantly deal with his infinite sustain and wota keeps you healthy to keep fighting him. Always bring ignite. You could go morellos, but vlad is tricky. Since he has nothing to dodge besides his R. So athenes seems better. He can Wvladimirsanguinepool.png your Eahriseduce.png. If he R's you, run away. Let it chunk you then come to the lane and sustain. Now that his R is off cooldown he is much easier to fight. 3152.png makes this match up easier. A second buy.

VS

Wukong

Easy

This champion is tricky. Simply because if he stands still, you can't tell if he stealthed to you or not. So if he stands still might want to back up a bit til you notice his clone or him moving again. If he decides to dash in with E, try to charm him mid air. This should keep him from touching. Build an early zhonyas, he deals too much damage with nothing to avoid. OR an early rylais to keep him kited for team fights and solo skirmishes. You can kill him early levels, just dont let him out trade you early levels. He hits hard remember this. Post 6 its best to rush away from his ultimate and grab a pink trinket so if he tries to escape you with stealth, you can hunt him down.

VS

Xerath

Easy

Grab some early boots, dodge his Q and W poke. All in if you see him ulti, charm it to rupt in. Use ulti to dodge his E. If he gets of his EWQ combo you can die.

VS

Yasuo

Medium
A more skilled match up it seems in the preseason 7, When hes playing for Q and its more so who landed their shots. Make sure to side step his Q.

Annoying yasuo's they never play for Q, so they are just dashing around minions with E. Basically shove the wave since that's what he is doing.

~ Bait his W with an autoattack, then all in post 6. IF he gets ahead, he can be extremely hard to kill. IF he W's during a team fight ulti or flash around it so you can get to their team. Zhonyas his ult, and if he ults your team you can charm him and blow him up since he hasn't had the opportunity to wind wall quite yet.

VS

Zed

Hard

Zed. Basically if you're a bad ahri or he is a skilled Zed, it will spell disaster if your not on your toes, for he will kill you over and over again.

The trick here is to anticipate his WEQzedW.pngzedE.pngzedQ.png combo or  WQzedW.pngzedQ.pngzedE.png combo. Dodge it all costs. post 6 it will be the death of you. If he dives into you with his ult, wait then charm to the back of you. So Eahriseduce.pngahriorbofdeception.pngQ, make sure in that 1 second time to get that orb to return back for damage. Then Flash away or ulti to a new location. Then flash or ulti his W advances. If he just Ws to gap close then EzedE.png and auto attacks its best to just run away. IF he messes up and actually misses his Q you will be extremely low to where just an auto attack might very well kill you. So it is key to dodge his W and Q. But still close enough to get off Wahrifoxfire.png and Rahritumble.png for the kill. Don't forget to ignite. Grab a zhonyas at some point, personally i don't grab zhonyas3157.png til a 4th item after 3165.png3089.png3135.png. I love this match up, as it sets aside the good Ahri's from the great Ahri's in my opinion. When it comes to 1v1ing zed. If he lands his Q i die, but if i dodge it chances are i 1 shot him. But if he gets ahead being the assassin he is, get an early zhonyas or QSS. If he didnt snowball then go ahead with your core. If your ahead, he is easy kills.

Ability Combo's Back to Top

Some basic ability combo's to some more advanced.

Depending on your enemy and situation your most basic combo should be
ahriseduce.png-->ahriorbofdeception.png-->ahrifoxfire.png-->ahritumble.png This combo is hard to land simply because Charm can be body blocked or minion blocked. But if you Get off a nice EQ combo, the enemy should be chunked pretty hard enough for you to all in if you chose to.

Tricky poke combo since good players dodge skill shots, but more importantly Ahri's Charm.
ahriorbofdeception.pngahriseduce.png Would be to Q first then E directly after.

Basic burst rotation is EWQ. Charm pulls enemies close for foxfires and orb gives movement speed to kite or to get the return damage.
ahriseduce.pngahrifoxfire.pngahriorbofdeception.png
In which case the enemy looks to be dodging the return Q, A good spirit rush should get the second half of it. This combo leads into 4.png ahriseduce.png. This is extremely fast. Depending on your key binds it should be Charm flash or flash charm. Either way a good way to kill someone without having to burn through your ulti charges.

Advanced combos

This combo revolves around rushing to get the Q both to and from to land. To get the Q to come back and land is to charm mid ult. So the charm gets the enemy to eat the true damage then rush back in with WR for the kills.
ahrifoxfire.pngahritumble.pngahriorbofdeception.png(AS the Q returns)ahritumble.pngahriseduce.pngahrifoxfire.pngahritumble.png

Personally my favorite combo.
ahriseduce.pngahrifoxfire.pngahritumble.png-->ahriorbofdeception.png(then as they begin to dodge the return portion of Q 4.png flash behind them for the return true damage) -->ahrifoxfire.pngahritumble.png the reason i flash behind them is because that's where they are headed to try and escape, then WR to follow up for the kill. This combo is fun and flashy, overkill but fun to pull off. Because as that orb is returning its up to you to try and land that skillshot with flash. Sometimes An R might help as well. But isn't necessary to burn flash either. But you're Ahri. So.

ahritumble.png4.pngahriseduce.pngahrifoxfire.pngahriorbofdeception.pngahritumble.pngahritumble.png This combo with a maxed E. So ulti once then wait for her animation to end and her arrival at her new location. Wind up Charm and flash to the enemy. Then follow the combo until you send out Q. With a maxed E her Q will return and you should be able to R in for the kill or RR away because chances are that alone should have killed them.

All in all, if you land charm first all you have to worry about is getting off your damage and Q. If you decide to rush in for your skillshots, you have the possibility of missing them, burning your ult and now no kill.

So charm first. If you miss no harm done. And you still have your ult to outplay your enemy if they try to punish you.

About Back to Top

tumblr_o57tdrPdEk1rs6p09o1_1280.jpg
About me, I'm a platinum elo Ahri main who loves to charm people. With over 500+ games in ranked between season 4+5. Been playing since season 2 with over 3k games played in total. I play Ahri Mid/Top. if i wasn't given those roles i just take Ahri support. I have my moments when i play more of a mage Ahri, i tend to play syndra, lux, xerath, vlad. Then i have times where i am in the mood to play Assassin Ahri, so then i tend to play champions like Zed, Leblanc, Kassadin.
Been in platinum now for two whole seasons, been to platinum 1 to platinum 5 to plat iii. I would grind to diamond given the opportunity, but i came to the conclusion that diamond isn't all that. Yes much better players overall, but the scene is so competitive it's not my style at all. As i come from role playing video games, i tend to takes my games a little bit more relaxed than i should. I only become serious when given a good match up, usually assassins, if its a mage match up its not as exciting. It can be though.

The main reason i fell in love with Ahri, was because of how flexible she is. She can mage then be an assassin all in one game. She has various item paths, and works well with so many different compositions. I love Ahri soo much, i started playing her top and support beyond the mid lane. When you start to destroy your enemies in one lane, maybe its time to try your luck against other lanes. Which is why my match up pool is so large. From fighting almost everyone champion in a solo lane.

Final notes Back to Top

IF i missed anything in particular that you would like to know, like a match up i didn't cover or questions about possible rune pages, S6 build paths, Itemization or have a question or comment in general. Feel free to add me in game and or drop a question/comment one below and i'll try to answer it.

I hope you enjoyed the guide, its basic compared to other Ahri guide's but rich in match up detail. Plus this is all data accumulated based on Charm Ahri. So if you feel like playing to be a bit more skilled while maintaining far greater damage than maxing W second, go ahead and try my build.
