Skill Order
curseofthesadmummy.png dot-pattern.png tantrum.png dot-pattern.png bandagetoss.png dot-pattern.png auraofdespair.png

amumupassive.png Passive

  • Basic Attacks Curse enemies, all Cursed enemies receive 10% bonus true damage from all incoming Magic Damage
  • The passive applies for 3 seconds, so you may have to auto attack a target multiple times during a fight to keep it on them.

bandagetoss.png Bandage Toss

  • Amumu launches a bandage in a thing long line, first target hit Amumu will root and travel too, and deals magic damage on hit.
  • When going in for ganks save Bandage Toss until you are very close to the target, the further away you are the easier it is for the enemy to dodge.

auraofdespair.png Despair

  • Deals magic damage per second around Amumu
  • Always have this running while you are clearing camps
  • During extended fights this can drain your mana, try to toggle it on and off depending if you are actually damaging someone with it or not.

tantrum.png Tantrum

  • Amumu takes reduced physical damage
  • Amumu deals mage damage to targets around him, cooldown of Tantrum is reduced every time an enemy auto attacks him.
  • SPAM this ability during fights, if you are tanking multiple enemies it will come off cooldown very very quickly, and as long as you are on top of someone to get the damage off you might as well cast it.

curseofthesadmummy.png Curse of the Sad Mummy

  • Amumu Roots and Curses all enemies around him in a huge AOE
  • You want to try to hit as many enemies with this as possible during fights
  • Try to cast this as soon as possible after landing a bandagetoss.png or flashing into range of someone, it doesn't last very long enemies will get away if you aren't quick enough.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Core Items

Situational Items

1039.png - Heals you when you cast abilities on jungle camps, gives a lot of mana regen while in the jungle
2031.png - Gives 2 potion stacks, and refills every time you are in the fountain, and can be resold for 60G
3340.png - Free Ward

Example Full Build

1401.png3047.png3001.png3110.png3075.png3151.png
1409.png3158.png3800.png3190.png3109.png3083.png

This is a fairly standard build for Amumu giving you lots of health, Armor and Magic Resist, but all items build also have small offensive capabilities.

1401.png - Health and Burn enemies near you, makes clearing the jungle faster and gives you enough health to be tanky for early game fights.
3001.png Health, Mana, MR, and Magic Resist Shred, lets you and your allies deal more magic damage.
3110.png - Armor, Cooldown Reduction, LOTS of Mana, and Attack speed reduction
3075.png - Enemies that auto attack you take damage
3151.png - Magic Penetration, AP, and Health. Later into the game your base magic damage values won't effect squishier targets as much as it did in the early and mid game.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Hard

Mundo will out heal all your damage and usually itemizes into 3065.png early, it's up to you to CC him during fights and setup your team to deal with him.

VS

Elise

Medium

Does a lot of burst, but if she is spending all her abilities in a fight on you it can be good, hard to lock down because of her repel, make sure to ULT as soon as you hit her with bandagetoss.png Q or she will repel up and you will miss. Expect her to be at your 2nd buff.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy
3111.png3001.png shutdown everything fiddlesticks does to you, you out pace his clear, and can easily CC him with bandagetoss.pngcurseofthesadmummy.png

VS

Gragas

Easy
3001.png lets you negate his damage while empowering your own.
Gragas is very combo based, and his full combo should do anywhere close enough to kill you.

VS

Kayn

Medium

Kayne farms most of the early game like you, so you can afford to gank without much risk of a strong counter gank.

VS

Kindred

Hard

Kindred will

  • Steal your camps
  • Deny wombo combo from your ULT curseofthesadmummy.png with her ULT kindredr.png
  • And deal lots of % percentage health damage to you.

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

Lee sin can invade you early, try skipping your 2nd buff since he will likely invade you there, get early 3047.png if he becomes a problem.

VS

Master Yi

Medium

You can CC Master Yi, but you have to be where he is as fights start, and be ready to counter him as he jumps on your carries.

VS

Vi

Hard
viw.png will quickly delete all your health.

Early Game Back to Top

Early Game Amumu's basic paths are

Heavy Leesh on 1st Buff > Wolves / Raptors > 2nd Buff > Gank a side lane.

Against literally any jungler that could invade you, you can just do 3 camps on the side of the jungle you start in, recall, then farm your other side of the jungle. If you go to your 2nd buff not expecting the enemy jungler to invade you, your entire early game will be ruined.

When attempting ganks make sure to go around the lane and show up from behind, make it easier to hit a Q bandagetoss.png from the fog of war, or to a predictable path when the enemy is moving backwards. You should also get as close to them as possible making it easier for you to hit a Q bandagetoss.png, actually landing Q is more important than landing a Max range Q

You do get a lot of value out of farming a lot of Amumu jungle, so if ganks are unlikely to net you any sort of gain, and would put you behind in farm, you can prioritize farming over ganks, but this doesn't mean AFK in your jungle try to make an impact when you can, skipping a camp isn't going to be the end of the game for you.

Mid Game Back to Top

Mid Game you should have a finished 1401.png & tier 2 boots (3111.png3047.png) and be looking to start 5v5 team fights, win them, and return to farming.

Using your first ULT curseofthesadmummy.png for a single gank is fine, it's very rare the the game will be going fast enough that there will be a 5v5 around the time you are hitting level 6. You should farm Raptors and wolves then look for ganks / counter ganks, clearing the entire jungle Mid game isn't that impactful, early game it is passable since Amumu's early game sucks.

But Amumu's Mid game doesn't suck, and if you can get onto enemies and CC them for your team during fights you can have a huge impact and move the game more in your favor. Amumu can also solo the dragon with W auraofdespair.png it takes a long time but if you aren't on a ward and there is nothing else to do on the map it's an ok option.

Trying to 1v1 any champion in the game unless they are extremely low on HP and Mana it's a good use of your time on Amumu, everything in his kit is AOE and Supportive CC, nothing empowers you in 1v1s, so a jungle style of trying to clear up kills around the maps after your lanes die is very very low percentage towards winning.

Late Game Back to Top

Late Game Amumu accels at the same things, setting up vision 2055.png3341.png3711.png around objectives (Dragon / Baron) and engaging on caught out enemies. In the late game however you should have a couple of tank items as well, making it so you can get a lot more rotations of your abilities off during a fight.

Ideally you deal as much damage as possible while taking up a lot of the enemy carries time and live.

But most the time it will result in either you dying, or the enemy team killing everyone around you, so you have to make sure you make good use of Amumu's Q bandagetoss.png & ULT curseofthesadmummy.png to lock down targets for your team to hit. Having multiple active items as well makes it a lot easier to be useful on Amumu, getting items like 3110.png & 3001.png are nice, but they cost a lot and have passive effects that help you a little if you are ahead, but almost non if your team is behind. Items like 3800.png & 3190.png will let you be useful any time they are off cooldown, even if you go in a die 1v5 during fights if you get the active of both of these off you've done something!

Amumu can't split push, Amumu can do much but teamfight and ward around the map, you are pretty much a 2nd support in the jungle. Do all that you can to assist your team with peel and vision.

Mechanics Back to Top

Amumu Mechanics are fairly simple

First auto attacking champions to reduce the magic resist should be the first part of any combo

the most basic looking like this:

Q > W > Auto Attack > E > move forward

During team fights if you have multiple allies that deal magic damage is very important to be auto attacking many targets so that your team can deal more magic damage to them.

If an enemy is right on top of you, or walking into you while you are in a bush simply

When you are level 6 and have ULT curseofthesadmummy.png fights are completely different, if you hit an enemy with Q bandagetoss.png the second you land on them cast ULT curseofthesadmummy.png even if they flash away, they will still be in range and get hit by it rooting them in place for you and your team to damage them. Holding onto ULT is the worst thing you can do.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros

  • Tanky & Hard to die on
  • HUGE teamfight presence with ULT
  • Amplifies team's Magic Damage

Cons

  • Slow Clear Speed
  • Low Damage and not as tanky as other tank junglers
  • Quickly bursted if alone

Once I hit Diamond for the first time I knew that I would have to take it all the way with this game, luckily for me the deeper I go into the game the deeper it gets. I will always be focused and dedicated to improving my play and hopefully reach a point of sustainability from playing the game, I want to make an example of what I think eSports should and can be about.
