Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png I don't think i really need to explain why but you need to bring a flash with you no matter the game. You're anivia you will be really slow and not picking this spell is literally suicide.

12.pngTeleport will allow you to avoid loosing farm on early levels and reach lvl 6 as fast as you can as well as buying your 3070.png as soon as possible. It will allow you to pressure any lane post-6 and eventually help on a gank on an other lane. Priorize this over ignite when laning against a farming and defensive champion or a bad matchup. 25.png115.png268.png

14.pngIgnite is good for aggressive matchups, that means assassins or champions that you can damage without taking big damages in return. It will make you have an advantage during the fight an you can easily bait enemies into death if your aniviapassive.png is up. 84.png131.png13.png

3.png1.png Those two summoners are very situationnal.
The first one can be used against really aggressive assassins if you don't feel confident going 14.png157.png238.png91.png
The second one can be used against enemies relying on a CC to be oppressive therefore avoiding you to die. 142.png3.png1.png

New Runes Back to Top

This is a totally personnal rune page. Be aware that it is not the only one being relevant and you have to adapt it to your playstyle.

Summoner%20Specialist.png?width=32 Will allow you to use from time to time a summoner spell different from those you chose for the game. The main advantage with this rune is that you will be able to get an extra defensive spell when your flash will be on CD which means you will gain some very important extra seconds to protect yourself with your spells. Post 6, getting 13.png will also allow you to play more aggressive/farm more with your glacialstorm.png and charge up your 3070.png.

Magical%20Footwear.png?width=32 Will allow you to gain a +10MS extra speed which you just can't let go when playing a slow champion such as Anivia. It may also allow you to outspeed your opponents and make your crystallize.png even deadlier. As you'll want to get 3070.png and 3027.png as soon as possible you will often (if not always) get your boots from this rune before you've bought both your items.

Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=32 Will allows you to have more sustain on lane. It will help you to hold the lane better against hard matchups and to put more pressure to easy matchups. The extra 160 mana is good as you're playing Anivia and want to get as much mana as possible so you can put pressure for a longer time and it synergies with 3048.png . Some people will prefer Minion%20Dematerializer.png?width=32 over Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=32 to get more waveclear and easier farming pre-6.

Approach%20Velocity.png?width=32 As said before, getting some extra MS is very important for Anivia. Post-6 this will allow you to use your glacialstorm.png  to greatly outspeed your opponent so you can crystallize.png right in front of him and therefore forcing him to either dash/flash out or force him to take all of your ultimate's damages.

Manaflow%20Band.png?width=32Very easy to stack with your E and ultimate, getting an extra 250 mana will give your 3048.png some extra damages. The mana regen coupled with your items should make you'll barely run out of mana even if you don't have a blue buff.

Celerity.png?width=32 Even more MS! Combined with Magical%20Footwear.png?width=32 and Approach%20Velocity.png?width=32 you will end up having decent MS and therefore some extra AP with this rune.

Very important: only go this route if you're confident with double hitting with Q. Otherwise just go for the classic route, maxing E first.

flashfrost.pngVSfrostbite.png

-Mana costs: Identical scaling with lvl up:
flashfrost.png 80+10/lvl
frostbite.png50+10/lvl

-Damages: Identical scaling with lvl up:
flashfrost.png60+0.4*AP+25/lvl. Turns to 120+0.8*AP+50/lvl if double hit
frostbite.png50+0.5*AP+25/lvl. Turns to 100+1*AP+50/lvl if recently stunned or hit by fully formed glacialstorm.png.
Pre 6:Double frostbite.png requires flashfrost.png to hit therefore it doesn't really matter which one you level up first.
Post 6:Double frostbite.png requires flashfrost.png or fully formed glacialstorm.png which is tricky if you don't have your wall up or if you didn't flashfrost.png your opponent in the first place.

-Cooldowns: Advantage to Q spell:
flashfrost.png12sec-1sec/lvl
frostbite.png4sec

-Extras: Advantage to Q spell:
flashfrost.png1.1sec stun+0.1/lvl, AOE spell
frostbite.pngNo cc, single target

Conclusion

Considering how weak is frostbite.png if used without other spells you should not max it first. If you manage to double hit your flashfrost.png before using frostbite.png your damage output will be EXACTLY THE SAME no matter if you max flashfrost.png or frostbite.png
Therefore, depending on your matchup, both paths are possible. Against easy matchups, you should max frostbite.png first as its low cooldown will allow you to have the highest damage output. Against hard matchups you should max flashfrost.png in order to have it available more often and be able to protect yourself.

In depth spells

aniviapassive.png

One of the best passives if not the best one in the game.
This allows you to play quite aggressive on the early levels as your opponent will barely have the damages to kill you twice in a row (beware of the minions though, if they are packed you'll take alot of damages from them).
Later on your opponents will have to choose between focusing your egg (earning your allies some extra seconds for fight/flee) and focusing your allies (which may make you revive and can fight once again).
This can truly change a whole teamfight.
On a more general way, you can bait enemies with it (especially at lower elo where people don't always know about the passive).Try to reach the safest place as possible (near allies or under a turret) and you may actually end up killing you opponent.
As you turn into an egg, all the negative effects affecting you will be dispelled including 14.png. It also avoids resets from some champions to proc (such as dariusexecute.png if 122.png ults you while your passive is up).

flashfrost.png

Your main spell pre 6. It is very important that you master the double hitting. For that you have to wait for your opponent to take the first tick of damages before you reactivate the spell. As it is very slow it is very unaccurate for long range trades but potentially destructive against close range enemies. You should use this spell wisely as it is both your defensive and offensive spell. When it's on cooldown any champion with a gap closer can jump on you and kill you with ease therefore you should always have your lane well warded to make sure you can use it safely. This spell make you're very strong against enemies that need to get close to be dangerous a you'll be able to deal lots of damages as well as opening a gap between you and your opponent.

frostbite.png
A true brutal damaging spell. You have to use it after stunning your opponent with your flashfrost.png or after you hit your opponent with fully formed glacialstorm.png. Otherwise it is not efficient at all. You can eventually use it when farming as it resets your autoattacks allowing you to lasthit two minions for example. This spell will allow you to destroy any carry that gets in your way.

glacialstorm.png

Your ultimate does it all. Slow, huge DPS when fully formed, huge AOE. This is what makes Anivia so strong as it synergies very well with her whole kit. Your flashfrost.png and crystallize.png will suddenly become easier to use properly and your frostbite.png will be even more oppressive as you'll be able to cast it several times if your target doesn't manage to escape fast enough. It can be used to catch up an enemy champion or to create distance between you and a sticky enemy. This is what makes you very strong against easily kiteable enemies.
In teamfights your goal will be to find the perfect spot to use your ultimate. You'll eventually have to anticipate moving before it is fully formed. If it is badly positionned cancel it as soon as possible so you can use it again faster. If you don't you'll end up using only your basic spells during the fight and you don't want it, trust me.
Another thing with this spell is you will be very oppressive on objectives. When fully formed you can cover pretty much the entire dragon and baron enclosures putting your ennemies in a tricky situation. It also allows you to hard push/depush any lane and the more you're fed the more enemies you'll be able to push back from a turret.

The two weak points of the ability are that it consumes alot of mana therefore you won't be able to spam it especially in the early/midgame. As the game goes it should go better with the items, runes and eventually blue buffs you'll get. The biggest weak point is that if the enemy team manges to kill the baron it becomes useless against minions and you won't be able to depush anything.

crystallize.png

Oh my god what a spell, the flash buster. This is basically what makes an Anivia player good or bad as it's the trickiest spell, the most dangerous yet the most rewarding as it can easily result in getting a kill or having your enemy flash.
Here's a list of uses from the easiest to the trickiest. Let's get started!

Very easy: A wall, just a wall

You can easily cancel any gank or offense by spawning your wall on your enemy's road. If the enemy relies on a gap closer try to spawn the wall as far from you as possible to avoid any possible engage. You can also use it the aggressive way when chasing an enemy for example making Anivia a fearsome champion for jungle fights. You can simply spawn a wall to block a way and force your prey to either use a dash or a flash.
Finally you can use it to engage a fight. If the enemy team lacks of gap closers/range you can simply try to split the enemy team with a wall making you're able to engage a teamfight, the enemies being outnumbered.

Very easy: Anti-channeling

You can interrupt any channeled spell with your wall by spawning it on the enemy champ. Here are some examples of the spells you can interrupt: 12.pngcrowstorm.pngreapthewhirlwind.pngkarthusfallenone.pngkatarinar.pnglucianr.pngmalzaharr.pngmissfortunebullettime.pngpantheonrjump.pngsionq.pngvelkozr.pngwarwickr.pngxerathlocusofpower2.pngzace.png

Very easy: The basic combo

When your opponent is in your glacialstorm.png range use it. With the slow combined to your extra MS given by the runes you'll outrun your opponent. Then you just have to spawn a wall in front of him forcing him to either flash/dash out or take a load of damages. After this just flashfrost.png in the direction in which your opponent is going. With the slow you should be able to land it easily then just use frostbite.png and let glacialstorm.png up untill he has totally left the zone.

Very easy to easy: The deadzones

There are some places in which you enemies should never be when you're near: the border of the baron's and dragon's enclosure and the small space between the turrets and the walls. I call those deadzones as they should guarantee that the enemy will either dash/flash out or die.
In the first case you can block your enemies between your crystallize.pngand the enclosure and then spawn your glacialstorm.png. They won't be able to escape it untill the crystallize.png melts unless they have a dash or a flash up. You can follow up with your flashfrost.png+frostbite.png combo that will almost guarantee to have your victims killed.
In the second case you should wait for the enemy champion to be almost out of the deadzone before using the previous combo. The longer you'll wait before spawning your crystallize.png the longer he will have to walk back to get to a safe place. In this case your flashfrost.png will be extremly easy to land and you just have to follow up with your frostbite.png to guarantee a kill.

Medium: Get out of my face

Sometimes your opponent is just too fast and you won't have your flashfrost.png or glacialstorm.png to protect yourself. You'll need some training before you do it properly as it's a bit tricky. You can spawn a wall between your agressor and yourself even if he's literally on you. Be aware that as you will almost spawn the wall on yourself his spawn angle can move very fast and you may end up still being on the same side as your chaser.

Hard: You ain't flashin'

With a well timed crystallize.png you can spawn a wall right before your prey flashes or uses any similar spell (such as ezrealarcaneshift.png). This being done, the wall will make the enemy champ fall back a bit making him flash into the wall as the flash won't have the range to cross both walls

Hard: The deadliest zones

There are some places in the jungle in which the walls are a bit curved. If an opponent walks along the wall you can totally block him in the curve. This one is  tricky as it requires a specific positionning from you and your enemy. He needs to be in the curve and you need to be positionned so that the crystallize.png totally blocks the curve, which means your crystallize.png should be parallel to the jungle's wall.

Very hard: Get back on earth

Just as Trundle's trundlecircle.png your wall can interrupt dashes/jumps/exploding plant with a well timed wall. This is very hard to do as it requires a perfect timming but succeeding will guarantee your enemy to flash or to die.

VS

Ahri

Medium

[Close range/High mobility]

Fairly simple pre 6. Farm staying behind your minions, avoid getting hit by her ahriorbofdeception.png and that's pretty much everything.
Post 6 you have to be aware that he can pretty much OS you if she manages to land a ahriseduce.png on you. If that's the case try to flashfrost.png her after she used a ahritumble.png charge and she is close range to make sure you'll hit it. Keep your flashfrost.png up for defensive purpose unless you have kill potential on her and she can't retaliate.

VS

Akali

Easy

[Hand to hand/Highly predictible]

This one's easy. Pre 6 she has literally 0 kill potential on you so just poke her down and don't let her farm .
Post 6 is still very easy since even if she has high mobility her movments are highly predictible and she has to come hand to hand making it easy for you to combo her.

VS

Annie

Medium

[Slow/High burst]

Pre 6 it will be pretty much a farming lane as she won't have kill potential on you and she wants to reach her 6 as soon as possible.
Post 6 you can start bullying her with your glacialstorm.png. Be carefull with the 4.png+infernalguardian.png engage as she can easily burst you down and kill you even if you have your aniviapassive.png because of Tibbers' DPS.
When her 4.png is down, bully her with long range glacialstorm.png+flashfrost.pngfrostbite.png her if you managed to stun her, fall back and repeat untill she has to go base or dies.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium

[Close range/weak against CC]

Pre 6 he won't be much of a threat, he requires a lot of mana to use his aurelionsolw.png and his aurelionsolq.png has a low range and is quite slow.
Post 6 you should be able to bully him just by using glacialstorm.png+frostbite.png. If he gets to close stun him and use your full combo. Be careful when your flashfrost.png is on CD as he can easily all in you and deal pretty high damages from which you can hardly escape.
Both champions work similarly and it's more or less of a skill matchup.

VS

Azir

Hard

[Mobility/poke/strong against slow]

This one will make you cry. He can poke you down and farm at the same time with azirw.png+azirqwrapper.png. He can also easily escape with his azirewrapper.png making you should never be able to get an advantage against him if he's playing decently.
Post 6 he can just all in you with his azirr.png combo and there's not much you can do against it as you'll lack mobility to avoid it. Really tough matchup but you can take a lead post 6 by poking him with glacialstorm.png+frostbite.png but don't go too far or he will azirr.png you to his turret.

VS

Brand

Easy

[Very slow/mid range]

Pre 6 you just have to care not to take a full combo, therefore you should always be positionned so that his brandq.png can't hit you otherwise you'll take loads of damages.
If he goes too aggressive calm him down with a flashfrost.png+frostbite.png combo.
Post 6 he can proc his 3 passive stacks without hitting his brandq.png therefore you should make sure you're far enough so he can't brande.png you. If you do it properly he should never be able to get you and you can easiely poke him down.

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

VS

Corki

Medium

VS

Diana

Easy

VS

Ekko

VS

Fizz

Hard

This one's a pain to deal with. Pre 6, you should poke him as much as possible to prevent him from farming and force him to back. Post 6, you have to be careful as he can 100-0 you with a good ult. The best thing would be to rush 3102.png or 3157.png to greatly decrease his damage output.

You can't do much against him as his E will totally negate your combo and therefore your damage output.

VS

Galio

Easy

VS

Heimerdinger

VS

Karma

VS

Karthus

VS

Kassadin

Medium

Not as hard as some people may think. Early on, poke him down with AA or flashfrost.png+frostbite.png if his magic shield is on CD. He will probably nulllance.png you to death but you should have enough sustain to overcome this.

Post 6, you have to keep your flashfrost.png for when he dashes to you so you can cancel his engage, otherwise he will all in you cancel your glacialstorm.png with nulllance.png and deal great damages.
Just poke him down with glacialstorm.png+frostbite.png. When he uses riftwalk.png try to land a full combo with flashfrost.png and fall back. If you play it correctly he should have no kill potential on you unless the jungler comes.
