Summoner Spells Back to Top

Annie Spells Edit 1.png
4.png - Must have on Annie 1000% of the time. You cannot justify not having this spell (unless you haven't unlocked it yet in which case for all my low level friends 6.png is a reasonable supplement for now). Its your only form of hard mobility and is needed for the 4.png + infernalguardian.png engage on an enemy.
14.png - Great offensive spell for the mid lane. Can secure kills and also has nice synergy with the infernalguardian.png AOE DOT.
12.png - Useful if you plan to roam a lot and think you need to exert map pressure. It can be replaced with 3117.png in the early game if you want some more roam potential and don't want 12.png.
3.png - Much more of a defensive spell. I mainly take it if theres an assassin on their team who I'm afraid will 100-0 me quickly. Can also be nice if the enemies have a lot of mobility or hard escapes. I do not take this often though.
21.png - Another useful defensive spell mainly if you are afraid of the enemy laner killing you early. Useful in harder matchups. You can also take 7.png instead of 21.png for the same idea however 21.png provides better defense stats in the early game versus 7.png

Masteries Back to Top

Annie Masteries Edit 2 Png.png

Sorcery VS. Fury

As 1.png you obviously benefit more from spell damage over attack speed.
Feast VS. Double Edged Sword

Feast will give you extra sustain in lane which is nice. Double edged sword doesn't benefit you as much since you are a ranged champion.

Vampirism VS. Natural Talent

The bonus gained from natural talent is simply to small to even justify it in my opinion.

Opressor VS. Bounty Hunter

Since you have a stun oppressor will fair you better than bounty hunter during laning phase.

Savagery VS. Wanderer

This one is really up to you. Savagery makes last hitting easier which is always nice however wanderer may be better if you feel you will be roaming a lot.

Secret Stash VS. Assassin VS. Runic Affinity

Any of these can be taken honestly. Secret Stash is better over all as it helps you sustain more and the instant heal might just save you. Assassin is great if you are playing aggressive and are in a favorable lane. Runic affinity can be nice if you know you're going to be getting blue buff a lot.

Meditation VS. Merciless

Meditation helps with sustaining mana in lane. 1.png has good mana sustain in lane already but it helps with the late game quite a bit as you will feel less pressured to buy a mana regen item.

Bandit VS. Dangerous Game

You might be a little confused about this one. I really don't see Dangerous Game being necessary on 1.png. You're not really frontloading that much or chaining kills so you shouldn't need it necessarily. Plus the gold you get from bandit is quite yummy.

Precision VS. Intelligence

You're not really stacking a whole lot of CDR on 1.png so Intelligence won't be needed.

Thunderlord's Decree VS. Deathfire Touch VS. Stormraider's Surge

With the new 6.9 mage update it is unfortunate to say that our lovely lady 1.png has had some of her early on burst nerfed. To compensate for this I now take TLD over SS. However all 3 are still very viable options for keystones on Annie.

Ability Descriptions and Uses

anniepassive.png Pyromania (Passive) - After casting 4 spells 1.png next offensive spell will stun its target for 1.25/1.5/1.75 seconds. This duration ranks up at levels 6 and 11. This passive is what gives 1.png so much CC. It gives her disintegrate.png,incinerate.png, and infernalguardian.png the potential to stun its target. It allows you trade safer in lane and pressure your opponent. When your passive is up it is given away by a grey swirl that circles 1.png. Use the stuns potential to pressure your lane opponent away from CS (if the matchup allows it).

disintegrate.png Disintegrate (Q) - A single target clickshot fireball that deals 80/115/150/185/220 (+80%AP) magic damage. The mana cost and half the cooldown are refreshed upon killing a unit with this ability. This is your primary damage ability in lane and should be obtained first and maxed first along with your incinerate.png. Use it to CS easily without losing to much mana and to stack your anniepassive.png easily. Use it to harass enemies in lane as long as the matchup allows it.

incinerate.png Incinerate (W) - A small AOE ability that deals 70/115/160/205/250 (+85%AP) magic damage to all targets it hits. Level and max this second. It's good for wave clear and a small AOE stun in the early game. Level it first if your team plans to invade and charge your passive with it before the invade so you can stun champions while invading.

moltenshield.png Molten Shield (E) - Defensive ability that grants 1.png % reduced damage along with a small 3075.png effect. With this % reduced damag change I reccomend taking this level 3 as it provides better defence stats from before. No longer gives tibbers a movespeed bonus but still gives him the shield. It can be used to cycle through your anniepassive.png stuns quicker as well.

infernalguardian.png Summon: Tibbers (R) - This got some big changes in patch 6.9 so listen up. Annie summons Tibbers with a large AOE explosion dealing 150/275/400(+65%AP) to all targets his. This initial damage was nerfed in 6.9. However Tibbers deals 10/15/20(+10%AP) per second to targets around him and deals 50/75/100(+15%AP) with his AA's. Tibbers AA's now scale with 1.png AP. Along with this Tibbers can become enraged granting him 275% bonus attack speed and 100% bonus movespeed. Tibber's becomes enraged on 1) Initial Summon, 2)If Annie stuns a target with anniepassive.png or 3) Annie die's. With all this new stuff gameplay between 1.png and her bear Tibbers is now immensely more important than before. Successful Annie players will be able to utilize both 1.png and Tibbers to their maximum potential and be heavily rewarded for doing so.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

what you're going to start about 90% of the time. pretty good for almost every matchup.
high risk high reward start if you plan to snowball. also an excellent pick me up on your first back.
pretty good vs anyone with skillshots as it gives you more mobility to dodge such skillshots.
rare start vs any AD matchups you aren't comfortable in.
start vs lanes you need this kind of sustain in.

Core Items

New ROA on Annie is absolutely amazing. Costs almost nothing, along with providing you the safety stats you need to be a successful mid range mage. Along with this the Catalyst passive is absolutely gross on Annie trust me. Rush this in general matchups and go Catalyst->Wand.
Abyssal is a solid starting item against any really rough AP matchups like Cass or if you don't feel safe against your AP lane opponent. Can be a solid pickmeup mid game against AP as well.
Rush Zhonya's against any tough assassins. This includes AP assassins (namely LeBlanc). Also a staple buy against Zed however he is usually banned most games. Pick this up mid to late game as well to give you breathing room in teamfights if you need it.
You thought I forgot about one of my favorite items didn't you? Luden's is stil a pretty epic buy on Annie especially if you're snowballing or wanna be a true APC. Rush it if you're snowballing your lane or want to be a glass cannon APC. Otherwise it's a solid pickmeup later for heavy damage and burst.
Basically want this every game being it gives you 120AP and 30% increased AP. Pick it up when you feel it necessary. I feel when you get this depends on how much gold you are generating. However keep in mind that it gives you a huge damage spike.
Still ultra cheesy for its interaction with Tibbers. Solid buy if you're playing more of a support role (More assists than kills) or if the enemies have a lot of escapes.
Another solid and inexpensive buy especially now. Providing 100AP/20%CDR/400Mana makes it a worthy purchase if you're snowballing or filling that APC role.
Pick this up if they have some tanks or bruisers on the other team. When you get it should be based on when they start building MR.
Solid pick but overshadowed by other AP/HP items now (at least for Annie). Pick it up if they have a lot of HP on the enemy team as it's basically an AP BORK (kindof).
Heyyyyyy it's this item. This is actually pretty solid if you ustilize the passive well. Can be really good if you need that extra mobility or engage. The active damage is also pretty good as well and its stats for 2500 gold cant be beat.
Usual boot purchases. Lucidity > Sorc IMO however it's up to you and the situation.
Standard bread n butter annie build. Go ROA->BOOTS->LE->ZHONYAS->CAP->VOID
    Abyssal first build: Abyssal->boots->glp->cap->zhonyas->void
    Zhonya's first build: Zhonya's->boots->glp->LE->cap->void
    APC glass(ish) cannon build/Snowball build: LE->sorc shoes->'Nomicon->Rylais->Cap->Void
    Voidless build (no tanks): ROA->boots->LE->Zhonya's->Cap->Rylais

Situational Items

Pretty situational. I would say if you need to fill the void of ROA later if you didn't buy ROA early than get this.
Good item if you're snowballing hard or are stacking your seal well (if you got one).
If you absolutely can not die in the late game (you're a sole carry or something). Than get this.

VS

Ahri

Medium
Difficulty Rating (1-9):

5

Champion Qualities:

AP, Mage, High Burst, Displacement, High Mobility, Built in Sustain

Abilities:

ahripassive.pngahriorbofdeception.pngahrifoxfire.pngahriseduce.pngahritumble.png

Advantages:
  • Your stun can interrupt her ahritumble.png.
  • Your disintegrate.png is a nice form of harass against her, being that it is point and click.
  • Your burst at level 6 is a lot quicker than hers.
  • Easily punishable if 103.png misses her ahriseduce.png.

Disadvantages:
  • With no mobility it can be difficulty to avoid her ahriorbofdeception.png and ahriseduce.png.
  • If you're not careful she will dance around you with her ahritumble.png.
  • Her ahriorbofdeception.png deals true damage on the way back which makes for high amounts of damage in early laning.
  • Difficult to gank or catch out post-6
Summary:

Laning against her early is a bit of a task however if you don't give her a hard lead you should be fine to all in her post-6. You will generally want to engage her when her ahriseduce.png is down.

VS

Akali

Easy
Difficulty Rating (1-9):

2

Champion Qualities:

AP, Assassin, High Burst, Stealth, High Mobility, High Stick Potential, Built in sustain

Abilities:

akalipassive.pngakalimota.pngakalismokebomb.pngakalishadowswipe.pngakalishadowdance.png

Advantages:
  • 84.png has a weak laning phase. Abuse this with consistent AA's and harass
  • She is fairly squishy which makes her an easy target to burst
  • Hard CC like your anniepassive.png will ruin her All-ins
  • Your incinerate.png and infernalguardian.png allow you to stun her even when she is stealthed by her akalismokebomb.png.
  • Can easily be snowballed on if you play your cards right.

Disadvantages:
  • Her passive can let her sustain through your harass
  • akalimota.png + AA combo will proc Thunderlords for mad damage so be careful when her akalimota.png is on you.
  • Her level 6 akalishadowdance.png powerspike is very scary and she can kill you if you are not careful. Level 6 and on you should manage your stun wisely against her.
Remember to grab a 2043.png for her akalismokebomb.png

Summary:

An easy to snowball lane as long as you respect her damage. Keep up the harass and at level 6 be wary of an all in from her. You can easily counter her engage if you are close to your anniepassive.png stun. If not it's best to 4.png back under tower and not risk it. Post-6 stay closer to your tower to prevent all-ins from her.

VS

Azir

Medium
Difficulty Rating (1-9):

6

Champion Qualities:

AP, Mage, AA based, High AS, Strong Poke and Zone potential, Displacement, Strong dash (azirE.png)

Abilities:

azirpassive.pngazirQ.pngazirW.pngazirE.pngazirR.png

Advantages:

  • Completely vulnerable once he uses his azirQ.png
  • Your burst is quicker than his
  • Hard CC can ruin his engage
  • Your infernalguardian.png is a little more reliable than his
  • An all in combo from him involves him getting very in your face making him easy bait for infernalguardian.png.
  • He naturally pushes the wave leaving him open for ganks
Disadvantages:

  • Early on he can destroy you
  • Can easily zone you out of CS with his azirW.png and azirQ.png
  • His azirW.png allows him to trade easily and safely
  • He can abuse a lead heavily
  • That Shuriman Shuffle combo he has not only looks cool. But is very fatal and can bait you into things like a tower or a gank very easily.
  • Tough cookie to all in.
Summary:

Early on he is a bitch to play against. Only harass him is he has used his azirQ.png and cant use his soldiers against you. His azirR.png makes it hard for you to all in him post 6 as well. However he is weak to ganks if his azirE.png is down or his soldiers aren't in a helpful spot. Try to get help from your jungler to hopefully put him behind.

VS

Brand

Medium

Difficulty Rating (1-9):

5

Champion Qualities:
AP, Mage, No Mobility, Hard CC, DOT, Strong AOE Damage

Abilities:
brandpassive.pngbrandblaze.pngbrandfissure.pngbrandconflagration.pngbrandwildfire.png

Advantages:
  • His brandblaze.png and brandfissure.png which are his key basic abilities are fairly easy to dodge
  • He can shove the wave easily if he's not careful leaving him vulnerable to ganks
  • His gameplay is often based around landing his brandblaze.png stun
  • His brandwildfire.png looses a lot of damage if you're alone
  • Your stun is more reliable to land than his
Disadvantages:
  • His damage is insane early on if you're not careful
  • His brandpassive.png + DFT does shit tons of damage
  • His stun lasts a whole two seconds
  • If around others his brandwildfire.png is incredibly dangerous
  • His full combo has the potential to do way more damage than yours
Summary:
On the whole play it safe early in this matchup as his early game is much stronger than yours. Always keep on the move as his key abilities are skillshots/telegraphed. Try to get a gank from your jungler as he lacks mobility but be careful post-6 as getting ganked can mean an easy brandwildfire.png for him. Avoid his brandblaze.png stun at all costs.

VS

Cassiopeia

Hard

Difficulty (1-9):

9

Champion Qualities:

AP, Mage, DOT, High single target burst, Very Low Cooldowns, Soft and Hard CC

Abilities:

cassiopeiapassive.pngcassiopeianoxiousblast.pngcassiopeiamiasma.pngcassiopeiatwinfang.pngcassiopeiapetrifyinggaze.png

Advantages:
  • Your kit allows you to stay fairly safe while still remaining relevant in lane (Getting CS, XP, Etc.)
  • Unfortunately there are few advantages in this matchup
Disadvantages:
  • Her single target burst past level 2 is insane
  • She has pretty decent mana sustain and does not go oom often
  • Tons of DOT to really fuck wit ya
  • cassiopeianoxiousblast.pngcassiopeiamiasma.pngcassiopeiatwinfang.png + DFT  is stupid
  • Her chase potential is pretty crazy with her cassiopeianoxiousblast.png and cassiopeiamiasma.png
  • The only time you can outtrade her is if she misses her cassiopeianoxiousblast.png AND cassiopeiamiasma.png which is rare
  • She only gets stronger as the game goes on
  • Her ult can turn fights around in a second making her dangerous to gank post-6
AVOID THIS MATCHUP AT ALL COSTS.

Summary:
69.png shits on you in every form possible. In early laning avoid her at all costs and try to not give her an insane lead. Post-6 you might be able to kill her if she walks into your ultstun like an idiot. Getting ganked at any stage of laning is fairly risky an she can easily overcome your leads if you manage to abtain one. In summary, you're screwed, just don't be an idiot though and you will be somewhat fine.

VS

Darius

Hard

Darius is here to represent bruisers/juggernauts, any champion that can dish out heavy burst damage to squishies and take a lot of damage in the process. Champs like 122.png420.png, or 86.png can absorb Annie's full burst and still have enough momentum to take her down afterwards. You generally want to avoid a bruiser/juggernaut in teamfights if they have one on their team.

VS

Diana

Easy
Difficulty (1-9):

1

Champion Qualities:

AP, Assassin-like, Naturally beefy, Displacement, High Mobility, Low mana sustain, Fairly strong all in

Champion Abilities:

dianapassive.pngdianaQ.pngdianaW.pngdianaE.pngdianaR.png

Advantages:
  • Being melee you can abuse her easily
  • She has a weak laning phase till 6
  • Her only poke (dianaQ.png) suffers from an awkward skill shot and her weak mana sustain
  • She has no reliable escapes outside of 4.png
  • You can easily all in her
Disadvantages:
  • 6 is a big powerspike for her
  • Her all in post-6 if she lands her dianaQ.png is pretty nuts
  • She is naturally tankier than most mid laners
  • She can bait you into things with her dianaE.png if you are not careful
Summary:
You can abuse 131.png very easily early on which makes it hard for her to hit her level 6. Keep the pressure up and if successful you can even pick up a kill pre-6. Post-6 careful for her all-ins. You should find easy success in this lane however.

VS

Ekko

Easy
Difficulty (1-9):

3

Champion Qualities:

AP, Assassin-Like, High Burst, High Mobility, Strong CC, Turn Back Time Move.

Champion Abilities:

ekkopassive.pngekkoQ.pngekkoW.pngekkoE.pngekkoR.png

Advantages:
  • Being a ranged champ you can punish the fact he is not
  • His damage early is based around his ekkoQ.png which is a skillshot.
  • He can be predictable thanks to his ekkopassive.png
  • His ekkoR.png is telegraphed and harder to use offensively in lane.
  • He can go oom very easy if he's not careful.
Disadvantages:
  • His damage is very high in regards to his ekkopassive.png 3 hit.
  • Generally difficult to all in even pre-6
  • He has a fair amount of mobility which makes him very slippery especially against 1.png.
  • His ekkoQ.png slow and ekkoW.png stun are insane.
  • He can turn back time. Like lets be real thats some cool shit.
Summary:

Fighting 245.png can be very annoying for how slippery he can be especially post-6. And while you can't all in him well he can't really all in you well either. His abilities are telegraphed and you being ranged means you can keep your distance. If he does happen to engage you just drop a good old infernalguardian.png on his head to stop him from doing anything nuts.

VS

Ezreal

Easy
Difficulty (1-9):

1 (if AD)/3 (if AP)

Champion Qualities:

AD or AP, Poke heavy, Global ult, ezrealessenceflux.png avoids minions, godlike blink (ezrealarcaneshift.png)

Champion Abilities:

ezrealpassive.pngezrealmysticshot.pngezrealessenceflux.pngezrealarcaneshift.pngezrealtrueshotbarrage.png

Advantages:
  • He is very squishy especially against you so make use of that.
  • If he is AD he has a harder time poking you down.
  • ezrealtrueshotbarrage.png You can interrupt this if you're quick fingered.
  • Overall kind of meh during laning phase.
Disadvantages:
  • ezrealessenceflux.png can be a bitch to deal with especially if he's AP
  • ezrealtrueshotbarrage.png gives him global presence post-6
  •   has some pretty low cooldowns.
  • ezrealarcaneshift.png makes him hard to gank.
  • His damage begins to spike once he has 1-2 items so be careful.
Summary:
Not a common pick mid but it's not a hard lane at all. The only difficulty involved is in his AP variant which scales his ezrealessenceflux.png making him annoying to lane against. Outside of that he's a squishy target who isn't that good until he picks up a full item or two.

VS

Fizz

Medium
Difficulty (1-9):

5

Champion Qualities:

High-Mobility, Invulnerability, Defense Debuff, High-Burst, DOT

Champion Abilities:

fizzpassive.pngfizzpiercingstrike.pngfizzseastonepassive.pngfizzjump.pngfizzmarinerdoom.png

Advantages:
  • You can burst him down pretty quick if you can lock him down.
  • Counter engaging him is pretty easy.
  • Can be abused for being Melee.
Disadvantages:
  • His fizzjump.png is a pain in the ass.
  • Is very slippery.
  • Can burst you down quick if you're not careful
Summary:
Alas, I don't know enough about this matchup. Just abuse him early but be careful for his level 2 spike especially if he has corrupting potion. Outside of that just harass him and keep track of his fizzjump.png CD so you can engage reliably.

VS

Heimerdinger

Hard
Difficulty (1-9):

Champion Qualities:

Champion Abilities:

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

Summary:

VS

Jax

Medium

Jax is here to represent fighters. Fighters vary in difficulty depending on what you do. Fighters have the potential to dive onto Annie and kill her fairly quickly if you are not careful. However, being more offense based fighters cant soak up as much damage as a bruiser or tank would so it is possible to handle them.

VS

Karma

Medium

I haven't seen a Karma mid in a little while but this matchup is only difficult early on. Karma has a lot of strong poke in the early game especially with karmachakra.png + karmaheavenlywave.png. However she has some iffy mana sustain early so keep track of how much she spams her abilities and abuse her when she is low on mana. Careful for her karmasoulshield.png as it not only grants a pretty hefty shield capable of blocking some harass, but also gives her a lot of mobility. If she uses her karmasoulshield.png and follows up with a karmaspiritbond.png chances are you're getting ganked and she trying to set it up so back off immediately. Post-6 this matchup is very easy as your post-6 is much stronger than hers. Your standard all in combo should do the trick on her and get her a kill. Always respect Karma damage however as even if she is behind she can stay relevant damage wise.

Start: 1056.png or 1001.png

VS

Karthus

Medium

Another lane that's more annoying than it is difficult. Since Annie lacks mobility it can allow Karthus to land his laywaste.png a little easier. While one laywaste.png might not hurt, being hit by multiple adds up. Careful for his wallofpain.png slow as it is easy to walk into and can also set up a gank very easily. Outside of these things your anniepassive.png can cancel his fallenone.png so I wouldn't be worried to much about it. Seeing as Karthus is a bit of a tankier mid laner you most likely have to wittle him down a little before going for an all in if you want a guaranteed kill.

Start: 1056.png or 1001.png

VS

Kassadin

Medium

VS

Katarina

Easy
Easy lane. Harass her early as she is a melee champ with weak poke early. You can easily cancel her ult with your anniepassive.png stun. Post 6 your all in combo should almost always kill her if shes <75% health.

Starting items: 1056.png or 1082.png

VS

Kayle

Hard

VS

Kindred

Hard

Supposedly Kindred mid is a thing and some people play it. I've never actually done this matchup, but in theory it sounds like it sucks. She has plenty of ways to outtrade you especially with her kindredE.png. She can sustain through most of your harass with her kindredW.png passive. Post-6 if you all in her she will probably just kindredR.png and avoid death and even turn the fight if you're not smart. I can't really give advice for this one since I've never actually been in it. But sounds like you should just passively farm and try to get a gank from your jungler.

Start:  1029.png or 1056.png

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

This matchup is a big stalemate till level 6, mainly for you. Leblanc's early damage is insane and should not be taken lightly. A leblancchaosorb.png leblancslide.png combo plus Thunderlords will take a chunk out of your health. Play extra safe early and if you can make it to 6 without dying you should be pretty safe. Just make sure she doesn't gain some kind of big advantage through killing you or roaming so make sure to alert your lanes when she is MIA. Post-6 it can be difficult to pin her down and kill her but she's incredibly squishy and a full combo should do the trick. A word of advice is always use your incinerate.png last in a full combo as after your infernalguardian.png and disintegrate.png her leblancpassive.png will proc making her invis so you want that beautiful AOE incinerate.png to finish her off. I should note that you can stun her while she is using her leblancslide.png to cancel it. If you pull that off you're golden. Keep an eye out for her leblancsoulshackle.png chains too as they have mad utility and theyre hard to escape especially with your lack of mobility.

Starting items:1056.png1001.png

VS

Leona

Medium

Leona is here to represent tanks. Tanks are a pest for Annie as they're the only thing in the way of her and a juicy 100-0 combo on an enemy carry. Tanks vary in how much trouble they are for Annie. Depending on how smart you are will determine if a tank is easy business or your greatest threat. While they cannot dish out a lot of damage they can CC you and stop you from destroying thier carries. Before teamfights keep an eye on your positioning and make sure you're not in a prime location to get caught out by a tank and die before you can do anything. Always remember, it's better to be safe than to be sorry.

VS

Lissandra

Hard

This matchup is rough because Lissandra basically does what you do but better. She can sustain very well from a mana aspect with lissandrapassive.png. She has a reliable form of poke lissandraQ.png. Strong CC and engage with lissandraW.png and lissandraR.png. And unlike you, has mobility lissandraE.png. After all this, if you do happen to get the drop on her with your ult she can basically negate it with a self casted lissandraR.png and even turn the fight. For this matchup just farm passively and stay alive at all costs. Ganks from your jungler are certainly possible but tough when her lissandraE.png is off CD.

Start: 1054.png1001.png, or 1056.png

VS

Lux

Hard

This one is difficult because Lux can simply out range you with her spells and stay out of your disintegrate.png range easily. If you get to close to her as well she will most likely snare you with her luxlightbinding.png. Her luxprismaticwave.png also allows her to absorb some of your harass if you do try to harass her. Post-6 try not to be snared by her as she will most likely all in you at that point and kill you. Your best bet in this match up is to let her push up and ask for a gank, Lux's lack of mobility makes her vulnerable to ganks. 21.png might not be a bad choice in this match up to save yourself from her all in combo if you do accidentally get snared.

VS

Riven

Medium

This matchup's difficulty is completely based on how the early early game turns out. A skilled Riven player will be able to capitalize on their oppressive early game and shut you down if you're not smart. Stay at a safe range to where she can't engage onto you with an rivenfeint.pngriventricleave.png. At level three she can definitely all in you and kill you as her level 3 is extremely powerful compared to yours. Passively farm till 6 and make sure to bait out her rivenfeint.png before going for an all in.

Start: 1056.png or 1029.png

VS

Ryze

Easy

While a good ryze might be able to get the drop on you and kill you. Your burst and CC should overpower his. The only thing you have to be careful for is his ryzepassive.png. When it's up he can dish out a lot of damage within a short time. Outside of that all his abilities are kind of weak early when used alone.

Start: 1056.png or 1082.png

VS

Swain

Easy

VS

Syndra

Medium
134.png is kind of like you. She has mad utility with her syndraW.png and syndraE.png. She can harass for days with her syndraQ.png. And her syndraR.png can usually 100-0 people and make them salty to where they complain about how freelo the champ is. Except theres one big difference. 1.pngdoesn't require a lot of aim while 134.png does. Keep on the move in this matchup and I assure you she wont be able to wear you down with her syndraQ.png. When she uses her syndraQ.png harass her right back as she is pretty open for punishment. If she misses her syndraE.png then boi you better be hitting her up because she is incredibly open without it. Post-6 if you see syndraE.png this go off and she doesn't stun you all in her ass. She cant really do much about it. Do be careful about how many syndraQ.png she has currently as her syndraR.png scales with the number of syndraQ.png she has and she can 100-0 if you're not careful.

Start: 1056.png1001.png

VS

Talon

Medium

Since the addition of 3147.png AD assassins like 91.png and 238.png got a nice overall buff in itemization. While he is a threat to be reckoned with especially if he obtains a lead fighting a 91.png isn't too bad. You can heavily abuse his weak early game by harassing him. Along with being melee his early damage is kind of lackluster. It's not until about level 4-6 where you have to start worrying. Start backing off as he levels up as his talonrake.png damage will start to amp up heavily. I would say at level 5 when you don't have ult and his talonrake.png is at level 3 you are at your weakest. His full combo at this point can chunk you and if not careful you'll feed him a kill. Once he hits 6 his kill potential spikes and it becomes harder to pin him down with the invisibility on talonshadowassault.png. At this point you will want to be carrying a pink ward to counter it and help in pinning him down with infernalguardian.png

Something you want to keep an eye on is the enemy jungler. 91.png can set up ganks really well with the slows on his taloncutthroat.png and talonrake.png.

VS

Teemo

Easy

VS

Varus

Hard

You should certainly be picking up on the pattern of hard matchups here for Annie. Varus is hard because he has the big R word. R A N G E B O Y Z. His varusq.png has some big range and deals some BIG DIPS especially in the late game. Also being an adc, in the early game he can outrade Annie with basic attacks. Despite the fact he lacks an escape he has a lot of utility to keep you at bay on his varuse.png and his varusr.png (post-6). All in all try to play safe and snag some ganks if you can.

Starting Items: 1056.png1029.png1006.png

VS

Vayne

Easy

Vayne is here to represent ADCs in general. Annie does really well against most ADCs as she can simply burn through them with high burst damage. Your full combo will most likely insta-gib most ADCs. Most of them simply lack the tools needed to self peel from you or absorb your burst.

VS

Veigar

Easy

Veigar simply takes too long to get going to be any real threat in lane. Late game though is a different story (as long as he isn't totally shut down). Abuse his weak early game with your strong early game and abuse him as much as possible. Punish him whenever he tries to stack with his veigarbalefulstrike.png and make sure he doesn't roam and get kills. Keep in eye on when his veigareventhorizon.png is up as he will try to veigareventhorizon.png veigardarkmatter.png you and despite having a weaker early game his veigardarkmatter.png deals a fuck ton of deeps. Obviously post-6 be careful of his point and click super nuke veigarprimordialburst.png. Once you hit 6 just look for a full combo whenever you can to force a 4.png from him or probably kill him. His lack of mobility makes it easier to land the combo on him.

Starting Items: 1056.png1082.png

VS

Vel'Koz

Medium

Despite Vel'koz being considered one of the best mid laners this patch (6.4) he is not too bad of a matcup. Just be wary of his cc on his velkozE.png and velkozQ.png (THE GEOMETRY). Also care for his passive as it deals true damage and post 6 a full combo on you with all of his abilities will probably kill you if you don't have 4.png. On the upside he is very squishy and if you do see a champ to engage him TAKE IT. Your full combo post-6 won't even require an ignite most likely and he is super easy to land infernalguardian.png on because of his lack of mobility. Keep in mind that your anniepassive.png interrupts his velkozR.png

VS

Xerath

Hard

Fuck

This

Champ

I hate 101.png with a a passion that is exponentially more than 10000 suns exploding all at once. Without a doubt I can say 101.png is probably 1.png hardest lane, at least for me. Going once again with the whole theme that range counters 1.png. This dingo has all the range in the god damn game. His xeratharcanopulse.png reach is stupid and deals tons of damage and he doesn't even need that much AP to do damage with it. His xerathlocusofpower.png and xerathmagechains.png are just giant middle fingers in the face that make it harder to dodge his xeratharcanopulse.png and actually get close enough to him, and when you do get close enough to him he has his xerathmagechains.png to just completely crush your dreams. The only sanctuary in this matchup is that you can cancel his xeratharcanebarragewrapper.png and it keeps him in place long enough for you to get at him. Also dont even think he is going to run out of mana because riot gave him some dungus passive xerathpassive.png that just gives him free mana. Your best bet in this matchup is to play extra safe and get a gank as a successful gank can screw with 101.png. Also 4.png is your best friend in this matchup if you do wanna get at him for an all in. He is fairly squishy so if you do hit him with a full combo he has a hard time surviving it.

Start: 1001.png1056.png

VS

Yasuo

Easy
Poke down his shield with your AA's and harass him with disintegrate.png when it's down. Always be wary of his yasuoW.png as it can block your disintegrate.png easy so always stun with incinerate.png or infernalguardian.png if you're looking to stun him. Distance yourself from your own minion wave to eliminate his only form of gap close possible. If he does start dashing toward's you just back off and return fire as he backs off. Post 6 your all in combo should kill him if he's <75% health with no passive.

Annie & Tibbers. An introduction to The Dark Child. Back to Top

Annie Edit 2.png

So you want to play Annie?

Annie, or should I say Annie & Tibbers is THE OG dynamic duo in League of Legends. Annie herself is the powerful child of Gregori and Amoline Hatsur. At an early age Annie distinguished herself for being gifted in magic when she spellbound a ferocious bear into her own little pet. This bear now aptly named "Tibbers" stays at her side as a teddy bear until ready to be summoned by Annie herself. You can read the full and semi-detailed (silly riot) lore here. In game Annie is a burst mage commonly played in the Mid lane as an APC, or in the bot lane as an aggressive support. However, she can also be played top, and for those who are a little more daring can be played jungle. I'm not going to lie, Annie, due to her 1-dimensional nature can be boring to play for some. Trust me when I say you won't find any crazy Riven-esque mechanics here, but if you are looking for a burst mage who can get the job done look no further. Annie comes packed with offense, defense, CC, engage, counter-engage, waveclear, and a molten hot teddy bear. So if you want a champ who can 100-0 her enemies and instill rage upon them, go play some Annie for Christ sake.

Pros Back to Top

pros edit 2.png

  • Plenty of CC with anniepassive.png.
  • Strong early and late game.
  • Point and click in lane harass with disintegrate.png.
  • High scalings and base damage.
  • Great engage with 4.pnginfernalguardian.png.
  • Pretty easy to pick up and play.
  • Few truly hard matchups thanks to her safe laning phase.
  • Great in lane mana sustain with disintegrate.png
  • Can usually 100-0 most squishies throughout the game.
  • You pack a giant, molten, teddy bear named Tibbers. You tell me that ain't the coolest shit.
  • Is pretty damn adorable.

Cons Back to Top

Cons edit 1.png

  • 4.png is your only built in hard mobility.
  • Drops off in the mid-game (does come back in the late-game though).
  • Has trouble dealing with long range opponents like 101.png or 99.png.
  • Positioning will make or break you.
  • Loses a lot of engage potential when 4.png is on CD.
  • Struggles against bruisers like 122.png or 86.png.
  • Her kit makes her predictable.
  • Is little girl so therefore is squish.

The Breakdown: Early Game Back to Top

Early Game (Levels 1-7ish)

So lets talk about 1.png's early game. For those of you who don't know 1.png has a pretty strong early game. This is a combination of her high base damage, CC, and general safety in lane (her kit has little counterplay early on). When hopping into the match as 1.png you first want to identify who you are laning against. Is this matchup favorable, unfavorable, neutral? Whatever it is will determine your starting items and how you play out the laning phase. So lets talk laning.

If it's a favorable matchup

If it just so happens your up against a 157.png or a 55.png for example, than you are in pretty good shape. 1.png has the privilege of really abusing lanes she is favored in (Do note that just because it is a favorable matchup does not mean you don't have to think. ALWAYS THINK about what you're doing). So is your opponent ranged or melee? Depending on what it is depends how you go about things.

So what if they're melee?

If it's a melee champ than hot shit your in a pretty good spot. You're going to want to use your range as an advantage. Harass them whenever possible and whenever its safe. Keep the pressure on and deny them CS. It's common that champs who are melee in the midlane generally have a lackluster laning phase (excluding 238.png). Ultimately your goal is to hit 6 before them and hopefully stun lock them for an easy kill. However it is very possible in these lanes to pick up a kill early if you play your cards right.

But what if they're ranged?

On the other hand if your opponent is ranged you have to go about things a little smarter. In ranged matchups champions can easily harass you back. So range will not be an advantage this time around. While up against melee champs it's common to be able to harass them out with just AA's. In a ranged matchup however, you will find yourself being in 2-sided trades more often and have to use abilities more to win these trades. In these lanes your anniepassive.png is a very key element to victory. Trade with your opponent when it's up to increase the chances of your opponent not trading back. Just like a melee matchup you're going to want to hit 6 first and hopefully burst them for a kill.

In both melee and ranged lanes AA harass your opponent just after they AA. This will prevent them from immediately attacking back since they just finished an attack.

How about harder matchups?

When it comes to harder matchups you have to play the waiting game. Ganks from your jungler are key to getting anywhere in a hard matchup for 1.png. However if 1.png does manage to get an extensive lead she can certainly abuse it even against harder opponents. Take CS when IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. Don't go risking your life for just one measly creep. While in easy matchups your anniepassive.png is a great offensive tool. In these cases anniepassive.png can be a great defensive tool allowing you some space if your opponent begins to smother you.

General Rules about the early game.

  • Don't Feed
  • Roam whenever it is acceptable to do so.
  • Keep a good eye on the map
  • Care for ganks from your jungler and their jungler.
  • PING MIA & FOLLOW YOUR OPPONENT IF POSSIBLE.

Annie and the MYMU. IMPORTANT (Irrelevant now) Back to Top

Let's talk the MYMU

(For those who have yet to see it or want a full overview look here: http://www.surrenderat20.net/2016/04/419-pbe-update.html#mage)

Overall:

To sum up everything about the mage update 63.png69.png90.png161.png8.png143.png34.png1.png9.png50.png134.png45.png101.png, and 115.png are receiving reworks/updates varying in size and impact. Along with this almost all of the mage based items are being reworked along with several new ones being added into the fray (You can check them all out here: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/mid-season-magic).

How is Annie affected:

You can look specifically at the 1.png updates here: http://www.surrenderat20.net/2016/04/419-pbe-update.html#8.
To sum up the updates to Annie...
  • Her anniepassive.png is now displayed with a secondary bar counter to make it easier for the enemy to keep track of your stacks. This could have been done before by simply clicking on 1.png and looking at the passive stacks however it has now been given more accessibility.
  • Her incinerate.png range has been increased to 600 from 560 and has a small bug fix along with it.
  • Her moltenshield.png now gives % reduced damage instead of giving flat AR and MR. The speed Tibbers up passive has been removed as her ultimate itself has received quite a few updates.
  • Her infernalguardian.png has been hit the most in the update. To start off her base damage along with some scalings on the ultimate have been lowered (this includes initial damage, AOE DOT, and Tibbers AA damage). However, an AP ratio has been added to Tibbers AA's making them hit much harder once 1.png gets some AP. Tibbers also now enrages once certain events occur. When enraged he gains 275% AS and 100% MS. Tibbers becomes enraged - 1) Through the initial summon. 2) If 1.png herself dies while Tibbers is alive, or 3) if 1.png stuns a champion with anniepassive.png. He also has received some health updates granting him a much larger HP bar, and HP regen while out of combat or if 1.png dies.

Opinions

I really like what Riot is doing with 1.png in this update. They're reducing some of the big "toxicity" issues in her kit while improving her overall gameplay and still keeping her identity as a Badass little girl who totes a magical fucking teddy bear that will fuck you up. Speaking of Tibbers he has gotten a whole lot of buffs through this. Hopefully with this rework it will really feel like Annie and Tibbers and not....Annie and co.

Short word about items

With the new mage update theres a lot of item reworks along with new items to spice things up. I don't want to say anything just yet without having a chance to test out the items on 1.png first. What I can say though is the new Hextech jetpack dash thing looks really juicy on 1.png.

About me Back to Top

Not much to say about me. I've been playing league for just over a year and a half now and have mained Annie since day one. I'm not particularly a high elo so I don't know how accurate my advice can be. If you want to correct me on anything in this guide feel free. If you want to play some league with me feel free to invite me. My summoner is TreeFaux (but they tell you that already don't they.)

Thanks for stopping by. Back to Top

Thanks for viewing the guide! This is my first guide so it may not be the best however I would love any constructive criticism or opinions you have on the guide.

3/28/16 - Re-worked the Summoner Spells section along with the Abilities section. Also fancied up the Spells, Abilities, and Masteries section. I also had to remove the images for the masteries that represent the masteries section. They always glitch out so I'll work on that later.

4/9/16 - Been a bit. Went through some computer issues along with having a very busy schedule the past week (School Musical) but now I'm adding a small update before I head off to the closing night of the musical. Just changed the Item optimization slightly and took away ROA. I also will not be updating the item section till patch 6.9 when the AP items rework is planned to release. I'm pretty hype for it and I gotta say that hextech rocket belt looks like it would be very yummy on Annie.

4/14/16 - Hello hello its your friendly neighborhood fox. Started working on the Early/Mid/Late game breakdown and got a good section on the early game so hope ya'll enjoy it. I'll keep slaving away at it though haha. Thats all for now, so until next time.
