Flash


4.png is vital and for someone like Aurelion Sol who has no escapes, it is essential for positioning and defensive purposes. It can also be used for offensive purposes to secure kills but you have to consider whether it is worth putting your only escape on cooldown for 5 minutes in exchange for a potential kill.
  • If you are in trouble and need to Flash, try to wait until the enemy uses an ability to dodge it.
  • Try and position yourself near terrain you can blink over for a more secure escape.
  • Never Flash directly into the enemy team for a kill, especially in the late game.
  • Always be ready to react to enemies that Flash onto you.

1.png is necessary against crowd control abilities because remaining mobile is crucial. It is also useful against other summoner spells such as 14.png or 3.png.

14.png is great for finishing off enemy champions and is useful when roaming or in 1v1 situations. It is also handy against self healing champions or 7.png thanks to Grievous Wounds.

Primary (Sorcery)


The purpose of this page is to increase your mobility.
  • Phase%20Rush.png?width=32 will allow you to weave in and out with aurelionsolw.png counting as seperate abilities.
  • Nullifying%20Orb.png?width=32 gives extra survivability against magical damage. Take Manaflow%20Band.png?width=32 for extra mana and mana regen or if against physical damage.
  • Celerity.png?width=32 works well with our mobility runes and aurelionsole.png.
  • Scorch.png?width=32 compliments your poke in lane. Waterwalking.png?width=32 is great for zoning/fighting around objectives and roaming. Take Gathering%20Storm.png?width=32 if playing towards the late game.


Secondary (Inspiration)


Minion%20Dematerializer.png?width=32 is great for able to push out the waves and then gank, while securing cannon minions. As 2033.png is our starting item, Time%20Warp%20Tonic.png?width=32 has great synergy, providing extra sustain and additional mobility during ganks.

Center of the Universe (Passive)


It is vital to remember that your Stars will reveal your position in brush. While the enemy cannot see you directly without vision, they will get an idea of where you are located. While crowd control disables your stars, self inflicted stasis from 3157.png or an allied Bard's bardr.png will not disable it.

Beyond your stars exist an Outer Limit that affects his damaging abilities.

Starsurge (Q)


Starsurge is your main form of crowd control that grows bigger the longer it is within your Outer Limit. You can use your aurelionsole.png to keep it within the Outer Limit, however; it is hard to land when travelling long distances, especially if the enemy see you coming.

Importantly, as an area of effect crowd control ability, there will be many opportunities where you can turn the tide of a fight. This ability and the rest of Aurelion Sol's abilities work best in closed spaces such as the jungle.

Celestial Expansion (W)


Your main form of DPS, activating this will send your Stars to your Outer Limit. The key to playing Aurelion Sol well is mastering the use of this ability by being close enough to enemy to deal DPS but far enough away to not be hit any crowd control.

Apart from dealing DPS, you can use this to push out or clear waves before ganks.

Comet of Legend (E)


Comet of Legend can help your team and yourself snowball and is easily the best long range ganking ability in the game.Passively, you can use this to increase your movement speed while moving in a straight line, so it can still be useful for ganks even if the active is on cooldown. Additionally, you can cast aurelionsolq.png while going back to lane.

As an active, you can cross fly across terrain, however; while you gain sight beyond brushes (does not reveal it), the enemy will have vision too. It is important to choose your path carefully to avoid vision and any potential damage which will cancel it immediately. While flying, you can have aurelionsolq.png active but in most situations I recommend casting it after you have arrived.

Voice of Light (R)


Voice of Light is essential for keeping enemies away from you as you will not be able to hit melee champions with aurelionsolq.png if they are on top of you. Any champion within your Outer Limit will be knocked out to the edge as well as slowed where you can then land aurelionsolq.png and aurelionsolw.png. You can alternatively use this as a long range nuke or as a slow.

Core Items


Your priority when buildings items should be: 1082.png --> 1001.png --> 3009.png/3111.png/3047.png --> 3010.png --> 3027.png

This is what you should aim for in your games. We rush 1082.png because it works very well with 2033.png and it is a cheap, cost effective item for the early game that gives the much needed AP we miss from 1056.png.

Mobility is essential to your early game and is key to make ganks work with your aurelionsole.png. In most cases, 3009.png should be your priority but in some cases you will need to build defensively to counteract the enemy team composition or your opponent in lane. Against high AD teams go for 3047.png and against high AP and/or high crowd control team go for 3111.png.

3027.png will provide great stats but we mainly build this item over others for the HP and the Eternity passive which works well with aurelionsolw.png.

If everything is going well, 3151.png synergizes with Aurelion better than most champions, especially with 3116.png. If you require Grievous Wounds, then 3165.png is a must. 3135.png is dependant on how much MR the enemy builds, always keep tabs throughout the game for any MR items.


3102.png 3157.png

The decision to get a defensive item will always depend on circumstance, however; if you require more defense for any reason you should prioritize these items over more DPS. 
  • Only build 3102.png against high AP teams, in most other cases there are better items.
  • 3157.png should be built to counter certain champions such as 238.png or 91.png.

You do not have any kill potential in this matchup so 12.png is probably most viable. As long you dodge flashfrost.png you will be fine because she cannot follow up with frostbite.png. The most dangerous part is her crystallize.png before and after level 6 because you have no way around it and it will combo with glacialstorm.png and the rest of her kit.

You will need to attempt to bully her before she hits level 6. She doesn't have any kill potential before that so what she will look to do is block any harassment with dianaW.png and farm with dianaQ.png if she cannot with auto attacks. Be careful of her dianaE.png as it will disable aurelionsolpassive.png briefly and setup ganks. 


Once she hits level 6 her kill potential is very real and you have to dodge dianaQ.png so she cannot get multiple successions of dianaR.png off. If she is able to jump on you, hitting aurelionsolQ.png is barely possible and you may be forced to used aurelionsolR.png defensively. I recommend rushing 1057.png and 1001.png into a 3001.png.

Hard

You have to play aggressively before he gains level 3 and access to everything. fizzjump.png is the bane of your existence and works twofold. First, he can dodge your aurelionsolQ.png and secondly, he can use it to get within melee range of you and finish you off with fizzpiercingstrike.png/fizzseastonepassive.png


At level 6 you will die if you get hit by fizzmarinerdoom.png unless you have a well time 3.png but even that might not be enough. I recommend spending your time ganking after 6 if you cannot stay in lane. This is probably the most difficult matchup for Aurelion Sol and you will probably need both a 3157.png and  3001.png to survive.

Avoid her poke lissandraQ.png throughout laning. Because of lissandraE.png you need to always be cautious because champions who can get within your aurelionsolpassive.png are very dangerous. At level 6, she can all in you before you can do anything so if you feel threatened in this matchup get 3001.png if you feel 3027.png won't do enough. Remember, lissandraW.png and lissandraR.png will disable aurelionsolpassive.png.

This lane should be pretty even for both sides and you should only die if you get ganked. Before level 6, avoid getting poked with orianaizunacommand.png/orianadissonancecommand.png while at level 6 be mindful of orianadetonatecommand.png. Remember, if you're going for a kill, check if she is running 21.png because that paired with orianaredactcommand.png will result in her safety.

Play aggressively at level 1 and 2 before he gets level 3 and has access to his zedE.png/zedW.png/zedQ.png combo. The problem with Zed is he has two ways to get close to you with zedW.png and zedR.png. At level 6 his kill potential skyrockets and you may be forced to use aurelionsolR.png defensively. You have to rush 3157.png in this matchup. I recommend 3.png as well.

Level 1

  • Use aurelionsolW.png to harass your opponent out.
  • It is better to use aurelionsolpassive.png instead of your auto attacks at level 1 or you may end up taking more damage yourself.

Level 2-5

  • Huge power spike at level 2.
  • Use aurelionsolQ.png into aurelionsolW.png for nice harassment and potentially a kill if you have 14.png.
  • Save aurelionsolQ.png if your jungler is ganking or if you feel threatened.
  • If you need to back around level 4-5 you can look to gank top or bot with aurelionsolE.png.

Level 6

  • Another power spike with access to aurelionsolR.png.
  • You can attempt to gank another lane with aurelionsolQ.png/aurelionsolE.png. Try to position yourself so that you will be behind your opponents so you can push them backwards with aurelionsolR.png. This is not necessary because it also slows but will help secure kills. Also, remember to cast aurelionsolQ.png during your aurelionsolE.png for huge AoE when you arrive.

Level 7-9

  • Always look for more opportunities to gank with aurelionsolE.png.
  • If you can't, look to continuously pressure your lane.

Level 10-13

  • Not much new hear apart from another level in your aurelionsolR.png.
  • At this stage and onwards you will have to judge whether you save aurelionsolR.png to protect yourself and potentially allies by knocking enemies back to your outer limit or just using it for the slow/damage to capitalize on an engagement.

Level 14-18

  • A well executed aurelionsolQ.png can make the difference in a team fight.
  • Always keep your distance, at this stage there is no need to basic attack.
  • Be very careful if leading with aurelionsolE.png.
  • Otherwise, everything else depends on who you're against and how the game is going.
