bardpassive.png  One of the best passives in the game. 
This passive empowers your AA's with meeps. In lane you want to use this to poke your opponent as much as you can. You can also use it to secure cannon minions. 

bardpassive.png Spawn on the map for you to pick up. For every 5 you pick up yourmeeps get stronger and they give some mana. They spawn every 50 seconds and last 10 minutes, after 9 minutes they turn red.  In lane you want to get them if you need the mana or if you have the time make a trip in the jung to take them all. They spawn mostly around where you are so make sure you have left the fountain and walked top before the fist one spawns or that first one can spawn anywhere. You don't have to take them all asap but don't let them expire. 

If you get close to a big upgrade you want to get them asap
Big upgrades are:

10: 2th meep

15: Now meeps deal AoE damage.
This helps a lot with wave clear.

30: Max meeps from 2 to 3
This is really big for you. 3 meeps is can kill a squishy now 100 to 0

35: AoE size increase
This is big for wave clear and now you can start team fighting.

50: 4th meep (after this you can go in teamfights)

65: 5th meep


bardQ.png  your only active damage ability. Max first.

ACTIVE: Bard fires a burst of spirit energy in the target direction, dealing magic damage to the first enemy struck and briefly Slow icon slowing them by 60%.


After Cosmic Binding hits an enemy, the burst of energy passes through them and searches for secondary targets. If it hits a wall or a second enemy, it Stun icon stuns both targets for the same duration, dealing the same magic damage to the second target as well.


Use in lane to poke and farm. Try to stun 2 in team fights. 

bardW.pngHealth pack + speed boost

CTIVE: Bard conjures a shrine at the target location that builds up in power over 10 seconds, up to 3 shrines active at once, which remain until consumed when a champion steps on them.

If the champion was an ally or Bard himself, they are healed for an amount based on the shrine's power and gain 50% bonus movement speed that decays over 1.5seconds.

Use it in late to sustain (wait the 10 seconds) 
Use it in teamfights to safe ally's or youreself
Tip: If you have 3 on the map and place a 4th under an ally none will disappear.
bardE.png Tunnel.

ACTIVE: Bard opens a one-way magical corridor through a piece of terrain in the target direction for 10 seconds. Magical Journey will not cast unless it can open a corridor.

Both allies and enemies can pass through the corridor by right-clicking on it or its exit, with allies and Bard traveling at increased speed.

If you use it to escape make sure you have bardQ.png ready to stun them if they follow you.

ACTIVE: Bard sends magical energy arcing to the target location, putting all units and structures in the target area into Stasis icon stasis for 2.5 seconds upon impact.

Epic monsters and turrets (excluding the Nexus Obelisk) are also put in Stasis icon stasis, despite normally being immune to crowd control.

Use in lane to set up ganks or to escape ganks
Use this in team fights as engage most of the time. Use it to set up bardQ.png.

Starting Items

    Standard start
    Alternative start. you don't have much meeps in early lvls so most of youre dmg will be aa.

Core Items

    After the 7.7 chime buffs rush this.
    core AP. with this you bust them down. I usually get luden before lich bane for the wave clear.
    Get this in midgame
    Standard ap bard items
    Finish your build with some tank items. if you fall a bit behind in lane consider buying a tank item second to survive lane.

Situational Items

    Get this vs heavy magic resist
    Get this vs a lot of hp
    VS assassins like zed
    If you play bard support
    Only in the late game. You can sell your luden or bane for this
    I used to get this every game but after the nerfes i don't get it often. It's still a decent item because it makes it safer to go for meeps. If you play bard as a support you still want to get this.
    ROA was a good choice but you need to rush nashor's now, so i don't get this item anymore.

Easy and boring lane.

You cant kill him in lane and he cant kill you. pre 6 you can try to poke him out of lane and miss some cs but after 6 his sustain is too good. try to stun him if he goes for minions and deny him cs that way.

Fiora

Medium

Medium to hard 

you can poke her mobility and bock makes it hard to kill her.
per 6 she should not be able to hurt you. your bardW.pngcan sustain her poke.
Post 6 be careful for her all in withfioradance.png. if she uses fioradance.png just disengage with bardQ.pngand bardE.png or even bardR.png.

VS

Garen

Easy

Just poke him and stun him if ye runs at you. If you focus you should never get hit by his Q. The only problem is his sustain, you are not likely to kill him in a 1 v 1.

Medium

He can out farm and out push you.

Its hard to find time to collect bardpassive.png
don't greed for cs when you are low, use bardW.png.
He is squishy and you can poke/kill him

Jax

Medium

This is not as easy as you might think. He can set up ganks with his stun.  And if you leave to long for chimes he'll kill yourr tower in seconds. The good thing is he is melee and has no sustain. poke him as much as you can and forse him to go base.

Maokai

Easy

His damage is no match for bardW.png.


If he is good he can doge your bardQ.png and bardR.png with maokaiunstablegrowth.png so its hard to kill him.
He can start ganks good so care that. 1v1 you should never die in this lane.

VS

Nasus

Medium

Laning against Nasus is very easy and you should never die to him in lane. the problem is you cant rly stop him farming his nasusq.png because he can lifestyle most of your poke. If your team doesn't help you he can nasusq.png out of control. Dont fight him in his R.

Riven

Hard

Hard macht in lane.

riven is very mobile and has a strong all in. 
if you get killed this lane can snowball uit of control.
Your main goal is to stay alive and get as much farm as you can. get some early armor to survive lane.

Zed

Hard

I hate if they have a zed on their team it makes it dagerous to go for bardpassive.png since he can kill you easy in the jungle. bardR.png is not a reliable safe since he can kill you withoutzedR.png too.

Laning Back to Top

Bard is a very safe top lane pick. His bardw.png lets you sustain most poke, so try to have a few bardw.png in lane for when you need them. In lane you fist just want to farm en poke and wait for bardpassive.png to spawn. if there are a lot of  bardpassive.png on the map start pushing so you can leave lane. Then make a quick trip through the jungle to collect your bardpassive.png. Be careful when you go in the enemy jungle and don't use barde.png to safe a bit of time. You might need it to escape when you walk into their jungler. If you are lvl 6+ and other guy is below 50% ask for a gank. Set up the gank with bardr.png and follow up with a bardq.png

Pros

* Good sustain in lane
* Good poke
* Great late game scaling
* good engage with bardr.png
* Fun to play

Cons

* Hard-time to kill tanks 
* You have to find time to go for bardpassive.png 
* Vulnerable to mobile assassins when you go for bardpassive.png  in the jungle
* You cant get flamed if you play bard top
* Low kill potential in early game.
