Summoner Spells Back to Top

3.png  Exhaust is a pretty key summoner spell.  Taking Exhaust gives you another slow, and it makes the enemies have lower damage and lower resistence.  Overall the best spell for a peel support.

14.png  If you feel really comfortable, are aggressive, or in a kill lane, take ignite.  It gives your lane more kill pressure and the chance to snowball out of lane.

4.png  Flash is pretty self explanitory.  Its an escape, a gap-closer, and a reposition all in one.  A must-have on almost everyone in the game.

The keystone in the Resolve tree, I prefer Strength of the Ages  for scaling health.  However, these are your preference because grasp is decent.  However, Bond of Stone makes you take more damage so I prefer it less.

braumpassive.png  Concussive Blows is the key part of your kit.  After four stacks, the enemy chapion, minion, or jungle camp is stunned for a short duration.  Ally autos, Braum's autos, and Braum's Winter's Bite all applies stacks.

braumQ.png  Winter's Bite is your main active ability after your e, Unbreakable.  It applies a stack of Concussive Blows and slows the enemy hit for 70%.  Use this when you can.

braumW.png  Stand Behind Me is Braum's gap closer/repositioner.  You can use this to engage in lane by jumping to the closest minion and then you are in range for a point-blank Winter's Bite on the enemy ADC and about two autos for a total 3 stacks on the enemy adc all within a few seconds.

braumE.png  Unbreakable is Braum's shield.  This is the most important ability in your kit.  It intercepts all projectiles and you take reduced damage.  If an enemy hits you with cc, such as an Elise cocoon you are still effected by the stun.  Braum also gains 10% movement speed while it is active.

braumR.png Glacial Fissure is Braum's ultimate.  It knocks up enemies hit and creates a giant slowing field.  You should try to use this in choke points or as soon as fights break out.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Typical early game start for melee supports.

Core Items

I usually take these at first back instead of sightstone. You can manage your trinkets enough and you could use your knowledge to know where the enemy jungle is.
If you are getting camped, need jungle vision, or are setting up for early objectives, Sightstone is the best. (You will eventaully pick it up No matter what.
Mobies give strong rotations. Merc Treads can give you more tenacity and MR.
Depending on which you need. I prefer Eye of Equinox for more wards, but some people like the FOTM for the shield.
Pick this up at level 9.
ALWAYS BUY THESE WHEN YOU GO TO THE BASE.

Situational Items

Locket is for an AP heavy team (2 or 3 champs). And Mikael's is for heavy single-target cc.
Deadman's is good for the auto slow and health/movespeed. Randuins gives an AOE slow with Crit-resistence. Frozen Heart is best against attack speed based teams.
Large AOE slow, and a self-speed boost to get good ults and catches with your q.
Pick one from all of these, Take Righteous Glory if needed.

VS

Alistar

Easy

When he goes onto you or your ADC just pop unbreakable so the enemy adc can do no damage.

VS

Bard

Hard

Bard has super heavy poke in lane, and that is how you counter Braum.  Early harass.

VS

Janna

Easy

Not much harass, but her peel is really good.  Play medium-aggressive or passive and you will out-peel her mid-late.

VS

Karma

Medium

Tough matchup if the karma knows what she is doing.  She can harass you really easily, and her mobility shields make it tough.  However, you can always use unbreakable and your adc is safe.

VS

Lulu

Medium

After her changes to her q, Lulu is no longer a huge threat to Braum, but her autos still hurt pretty bad early.

VS

Morgana

Easy

Dont get binded, if your adc is binded, jump in front of them and use unbreakable to soak the damage.

VS

Nami

Medium

Harass, Heal, ADC auto buff, and auto range.  However, she is squishy and easy to kill after w is on cooldown.

VS

Sona

Hard

Lots of early game harass comes through and if Sona knows what she is doing, you're practically useless for engages, but you can block one of her q's to keep your adc safe.  Its all how you play in lane, don't take free poke and its easy.

VS

Thresh

Hard

Thresh can be tough if he has 14.png.  This can be extremely challenging to play against if they reach level 2 first.  You are squishy to ignite at level 1/2 and Thresh has free auto harass with Flay passive.  Just don't take free poke, and if your adc is hooked, unbreakable makes the enemy adc do nothing.

Gameplay Tips Back to Top

Engaging in Lane:
As Braum you have many ways to engage in lane. My favorite way is by jumping to a minion with braumW.png then putting up braumE.png to take reduced damage and have the movement speed.  As soon as you're free of the minion wave, or point blank to the enemy adc use braumQ.png to slow them and apply a stack of concussive blows.  The slow also allows you to put in two auto attacks to have a total of three stacks of concussive blows before the enemy bot duo can respond.

Teamfighting:
Playing Braum in teamfights is really fun and you are one of the most effective champions at distributing CC.  You should position yourself behind your frontline but in front of your backline.  This way you can prevent damage coming from the enemy backline with your braumE.png .  Meanwhile your autos on the enemy fontline are starting the  braumpassive.png stacking.  At the start or in the middle of the fight, you should braumR.png in front of you to slow the enemy backline and knockup the enemy frontline.  This also peels for your ADC.  Your main goal in these fights is to get as many braumpassive.png stacks out as possible while peeling for your ADC.  You should prioritize targets closest to your ADC and keeping the damage off of them using braumE.png.
