Summoner Spells Back to Top

14.png And 3.png are both good options for Braum.

14.png Enables Braum to have more threat and kill potential in lane. Ignite is also good when the enemy only has 1 or 2 key Damage dealers, ignite deals damage to their health pool, or the shield on them, and also reduces healing, both effects going towards the cause of killing that one champion.
3.png Exhaust lets you control fights. Braum has not immediate CC, so against high burst / quick champions this lets him peel without having to CC the champion.
4.png Flash is pretty standard, engage and escape.
Braum can braumq.png dot-pattern.png 4.png To quickly cast Q and relocate to land it.

New Runes Back to Top

Bandit 1/1 - Free gold for being in lane, if you can proc an auto attack you also get +10 so much more reward for trading

Recovery 5/5 - Free health regen, gives you a good amount of health over the duration of the laneing phase
Tough Skin 1/1 - You take auto attacks from 2 champions in lane, and tank a lot more later into the game, so more tankyness for free.
Veteran’s Scars 5/5 - Free +50 health , +72 health from runes +50 Health from masteries = 122 HP level 1
Insight 1/1 - Have 3.png14.png4.png up more often, as support it’s important to summoner spells up more often.
Swiftness 5/5 - Slow and CC resist is nice since you don’t get o itemize into the items that provide it
Bond of Stone 1/1 -  any slow or cc marks a target, marked targets when hit by your allies will be healed based on your max health.

braumrwrapper.png dot-pattern.png braumq.png dot-pattern.png braume.png dot-pattern.png braumw.png

When braum Auto attacks and Q braumq.png apply a mark that stacks up to 4 times, when allies or braum auto attacks marked champions it adds stacks, when all 4 stacks are proc’d the target is stunned.

braumq.png Winter’s Bite

Braum shoots a projectile forward dealing magic damage based on Braum’s Max Health, and slows target hit.

braumw.png Stand Behind Me

Braum dashes to a target ally, giving them Armor & Magic Resist

braume.png Unbreakable

Braum puts his shield up blocking first projectile sent towards him, and taking reduced damage for the rest of the duration.

braumrwrapper.png Glacial Fissure

Braum creates a large rectangular slowed zone, knocking up first target hit.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Core Items

Situational Items

Relic Shield + 3 Health pots and a Trinket Ward

Relic shield lets you sustain your ADC early, earn gold for yourself, and slightly push the wave. 3 health pots let you sustain the lane, and trade effectively.

Builds path

3302.png Relic Shield gives you bonus income, you and your ADC sustain, and helps push / kill minions faster.

Core Build

2303.png Eye of Equinox - Free’s up an item slot, gives you an extra ward on sightstone, more health, more health regen, and 10% CDR
3109.png Basically binds your health pool to a carry and drains some of your health instead of theirs.
3190.png Gets bonus shield based on your max health, shield anyone you are close to immediately, and gives you Armor & Magic Resist.
3800.png Not the most efficient on braum, but if your team has no great tools for engage Righteous Glory can be bought and
3050.png If shields and heals are handled by another champion on your team ,Zekes lets your ADC deal more damage during fights once you ULT, the extra amount of Armor and Magic resist also translate nicely into Braum's W passive braumw.png
3193.png Gives you a health and damage reduction boost, that not only lets you survive while you are in the middle of a fight, but also boost 3190.png's shield.

All good options you will most likely get mobility boots more often than not, and don't think you need ninja tabi's or Merc Treds to be tanky the are a more expensive option that gives you slight advantages if you can get them at an accelerated pace in the game (if you're ahead).

Matchups Back to Top

Click on a champion below to see the author's notes on that particular matchup.

  • Alistar
  • Ashe
  • Bard
  • Janna

  • Early game he is burstable if he combos you instead of your ADC so try to punish when he goes in
  • If he Combos your ADC try to go on their ADC and stun them
  • braumrwrapper.png during teamfights makes it so Alistar has to flash over it most the time.

You can jump in front of Ashe arrow headed at an ally with W braumw.png

Easier to hit Ashe with braumq.pngbraumrwrapper.png since she has no dash.

You do a surprising amount of damage to him with braumq.png

braume.png Will block 2nd part of bardq.png

  • Braum doesn't do much to shutdown janna, if she does miss position you should be ready to attack her with braumq.pngbraumrwrapper.png , but she will still most likely get away
  • If your lane is unkillable look to roam to other lanes or in the enemy jungler with you jungler.
  • During teamfights angle your ULT braumrwrapper.png to cancel her's reapthewhirlwind.png

Early Game Back to Top

Level 1 Invade with Braum is very very VERY Strong. Slow targets with braumq.png and your entire team stacks up the passive instantly usually making for a free kill, that is if you find someone while invading, you have to ping A LOT at the start of the game to get everyone on the same page so always best to have 5 champions walking in at once rather than 2 and 3 far behind because they were afk.

During the laning phase get as much poke as possible with braumq.png try to hit the same target over and over, since the damage has to add up over time. You should be using the 3 2009.png Health Pots to trade with, not to recover you health once you've lost it for no reason. Braum's W braumw.png lets you jump to minions to get closer to the enemy to trade. Using braumw.png & braume.png takes away from how many braumq.png you can hurt the enemy with so use them sparingly.

Expect first gank bot lane around 3 minutes

Mid Game Back to Top

Mid game when the map starts to open up it's very important on any support champion to have efficient map movements getting wards, using 2055.png Control wards to deny vision. Try to walk with your Jungler or any roaming laner, if you catch an enemy champion by yourself, you practically do nothing.

If you can't accomplish anything through roams or skirmishes than it's ok to stay in lane and continue to gain gold and XP.

If you are away from any carry champion on your team you NEED to be watching out for fights across the map so that you can respond as fast as possible. You should also look to punish misstepping enemies in lanes with braumq.pngbraumrwrapper.png

Late Game Back to Top

Late game Braum's job is a lot easier or a lot harder based on how many items you have, especially if you don't have 3193.png and are tanking multiple champions during a fight. And any active item that you are lacking 3190.png3800.png3109.png the less utility / peeling ability you will have.

Vision also becomes very very important, you can't walk into the fog of war alone, and being cautious when warding since it is a lot more likely that enemies will be waiting in the fog of war to pick you off. The game will come down to one pick or one fight, so don't be the guy that throws it.

Watch your team's Map movements, and the enemy team's map movements and make a plan to set your team up in an advantageous position. A during fights you have to remember to use all items 3193.png3190.png3800.png during a fight, you can work on using them efficiently once you get down actually using them in fights, nothing is worse than dying in a fight then realising you didn't use an item.

Teamfights Back to Top

Braum has the ability to play during Aggressive, neutral, and passive fights, but he doesn't excel at any. But it's important to notice how the fight is playing out and what state it is in so you can have a better idea of of where to be during it.

Is an enemy caught out > Engage on them
Is there an even skirmish going on between both teams > It's a neutral fight you should try to stay in the middle and be ready to attack or defend carries.
Are there 1 or more champions diving your Carries > Defend them.

During a single team fight, the fight can go through all 3 of these stages multiple times, so being able to pick out and know exactly what is going on while it's going on comes with experience, but also with a mindful approach to the fights. So be watching and try to play accordingly

Warding Back to Top

Warding with the 3340.png Warding Trinket

At the start of every game, your only options for warding before you get 2049.png Sightstone, is to use the 3340.png Warding Trinket.

The 3340.png Warding Trinket only gives you a 60 Second ward, that gives you a very small range of vision compared to a 2049.pngSightstone's Vison Ward.

The best way to make use of the Warding Trinket during the early laning phase, is to place it before the enemy jungler shows up, this will change every game depending on the enemy jungler, generally here are some good spots to trinket

Trinkets Outlined in Blue are for when you are on Blue Side
Trinkets Outlined in Red, hey you guessed it, are for when you are on Red Side.
Trinkets Outlined with both, work well on either side.

If you have full control over a lane, placing a trinket in the bot lane bushes isn't terrible as long as you play around the possibility of Gank timing windows properly.

3340.png / 3341.png
Once you get Sightstone, you generally want to switch to Sweeper, but you can make use of the trinket wards in a very extended laning phase, but after say 20 minutes, you will most likely NEED to switch to sweeper or you will be walking through enemy wards the entire game.

So when you get Sightstone the ENTIRE game changes. There are ways you SHOULD use, and ways you CAN use it.

Where to place a Sightstone Ward, has a LOT of  factors that go into why or when you should place a ward, hopefully this makes it simpler:

When To place a Ward

  • If you know the enemy is likely to come from an area in 1-2 minutes.
  • If the enemy has the ability to jump over walls, ward over the wall they would come from ex (9.png64.png)
  • So you can spot enemy champions moving from one lane to another in the fog of war.

When not to place a ward

  • You are near a bush and there isn't a ward in it
  • When you are in a lane and afraid that someone is in that bush you are going to ward
  • When you already have vision of the target you are try to ward against

Mid - Late Game Warding

  1. Do you have advantage and 2-3 champions with you > get a ward in their jungle
  2. Is the game even / you have no ally champions to assist with deep warding > Ward river / enterences to your jungle
  3. Are you behind / multiple towers have fallen > Ward your Jungle.

Here are all easy Warding spots.

Mid - Late game, you shouldn't be going on solo missions into the enemies side of the jungle to get a useless deep ward, only to find 5 champions and a grey screen. Any time you want to get a ward on the enemies side of the map, ping your laners / jungler to assist you with walking into the enemy jungle, who knows you might find a solo member of the enemy team instead and be able to pick up an easy kill.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

  • Ability to do well during any type of fight
  • Immensely useful Passive
  • Good mix or Peel and Engage

  • Doesn't excel at either engaging or peel
  • No heals or shields
  • Harder to learn since Braum's playstyle is more neutral based.
