Generally I go ghost ignite and will only go smite tp if I'm 2v1ing bot lane which you should try sometime for a guaranteed tilt of both teams which usually works in your favour. Just a quick note on the smite tp build start w and do wraiths or wolves at level 1. You get to lane at level 2 with full health. Use the smite to refill health on jungle camps when you can and by level 6 you may be able to 2v1.


Rest of this guide will focus on Mundo top with ignite and ghost. I choose these because Mundo doesnt really have sustain issues and late game when you are a massive unit you can charge at carries or run away like a little girl throwing cleavers at peoples faces. 

Another option i've been doing lately in farmer style lanes (poppy) is smite ghost. It helps you with sustain (low on health go and smite a jungle camp for a refill of a third of your max health). It also allows for a more undo item in cinderhulk (+15% max health). 

If your team is a poke team i.e. ziggler, jayce and their team is an engage team (Kha, fizz etc) go smite, exhaust. Don't buy boots and just stack HP / resistances. By the time youre in late game your ad from hp will be in line with your adc with just tank items.

I've experimented with death fire as a keystone and bone of stone as well and neither do as well as grasp. Mundo's R, E and passive work off Health so you generally have to build that which makes grasp a big damage dealer. 


Runic armor scales better than 50 flat heath and that combined with feast and vampirism gives you pretty much unlimited sustain in lane. 

swiftness will change for me depending on whether I am versing an ad or Ap team. Mundo's w gives pretty strong cc reduction so if you take some mastery points on that you will have max tenacity without merc treads. This is very important for Mundo because later on his role can be to charge in like an Olaf on their carries and with max tenacity ghost and his r movement speed boosts, its pretty hard to keep him away. If you feel like extra tenacity is not needed (say if you are versing a mainly ap team and you are getting merc treads anyway), feel free to opt for the ;legendary guardian points.


* Hot jungle tip - If your team already has a tanky champ who can initate try going storm raiders + defensive masteries. With Mundo's q and an early max on e it is very easy to deal 30% of an enemy's health and proc the keystone. It makes you super fast and immune to slows. In this scenario (where you have a tank already and you are jungling) Id recommend an early phantom dancer (like 2nd if aren't behind). Each hit will be dealing about 550 health by the time you are around level 11-12.

Q is a really strong move. E is stronger 1v1, w is better for pushing and generally jungling too so between those two moves you can choose whatever you want. 


If you are going smite as one of your summoners - take w first and do a jungle camp (pref wolves or wraiths). This gives you a level two in about 4 seconds of game play without making you miss any health.

Starting Items

    Mundo is fairly weak early. With no Teleport he needs some health and sustain and this is the best set up that can keep you at mostly full health until your jungler comes.
    If you are 2 v 1ing bot

Core Items

    If you are versing an ap champ spirit is usually your first go to item if it is an ad sunfire is better. Boots depend on what are up against.
    General full build.

Situational Items

    Your other items are generally some of the following. If my team is getting stomped by ad champs i'll go a thorn mail first and just try to build tank with my ivan mallet last. In most situations you actually want your ivan mallet after your sunfire, boots and spirit but you cant always fit that in with your team. Warmogs is generally not a good choice but is still useful as a final item.
    This item recks kents. Think about like 550 dmg per hit. Good for a last item on a tank who doesnt need to be extra extra tanky. Can buy it early if you are in the jungle.

Mundo does enough dmg to not need to buy damage items (even though its heaps more fun). I still think that in order for you to be useful you need one dmg item. 


Mundo is a late game champ who can play it safe.

She is an assassin that cant really kill you at any stage. 


Try to proc your grasp and go in for trades where you can get a q off at her to win the lane. 

If thats not working just farm safely and wait for Ganks. Once you get a bit tanky post 6 you can just push the lane down.

Easy

Darius's ult can mess you up pretty bad but I've never really had trouble versing him. Mundo can farm safely and not take damage so its just a matter of doing that and waiting for banks remembering that Darius can still win a 2 v 1 so you have to engage him get him without going to ham that you get insta killed.


Remember 1 v 1 he wins, but the idiot pushes lane and is easy to gank. Wait for the gank and play it right.

She cant really do much to you. Again just farm safely and wait for Ganks. After you get spirit visage you can start to bully

Easy

Hard dude to kill till you have a few items or unless he messes up in a gank. He is fairly easy to bully and has less sustain and damage than you.

Eh, Havent versed too many. Hasn't been a trouble yet. I take movespeed quints so i can generally run away from her when I want to but i farm from a distance and wait for banks. You need ignite here and just need to make sure that you hold it till she uses her block.

Easy

The big Fizzle doesnt hurt Mundo. You can literally play it safe till 6 then go hard on him and win the trade with your ult. You may not get the kill but from there your bullying can start no matter how bad you are.

Gangplank

Easy

your movement speed helps you avoid the kegs. He generally pushes. Eventually it gets to a point where he is pushed and you can chase him down with his barrels and w the only protection he has against your larger damage. Late game he's an issue in that a barrel can pretty much kill your adc in one hit.

Nasus

Medium

Lane phase is simple. When he wants to go for a q on a minion be ready to make him earn it. Try to have your grasp near ready when he is coming in for a q. 


Mundo doesnt really have the kit to stop him from getting stacks. If you punish him hard enough early he has two options. Either wait for the minions to push to tower or try to use his ranged move e for cs which pushes. If he's smart he'll let the minions push but Mundo doesnt push that much if he doesnt want to. Once it is pushed to tower there isnt much you can do but back and buy and repeat. You can ward your enemy jg and ask your jungle to invade with you or go with him to get a dragon. 

Only other bit of advise is you want max tenacity so get that into your masteries

Your q and w mess him up a bit since they are magic damage. You have better sustain than he does and lots of cc reduction.

Riven

Easy

Riven can all in you and win early. Mundo just has to farm at a distance and wait for tanks. Riven is very easy for Mundo to kill with a tiny bit of help. I generally go3751.png3047.png as my first items. from there its pretty easy

Its kind of a funny thing in that you both like versing each other because Mundo gets to build spirit visage first and Rumble builds liandries. post 6 1 v 1 Mundo wins. If your team fights in bad spots Rumble can really wreck them.

If you get Ganks you are fine. If he doesnt take an ignite you are also fine (just rush him at level 2. 


If say your jungler gets invaded and behind and you do get no tanks the farm with your q can only last so long. Without Ganks a post 6 Teemo can push to your tower and build more and more damage while he shrooms his escape points. It gets impossible to put him down.

He has sustain and you cant really kill him easily. He does more damage than you do. Just build for him and stay where he pushes. You might want a tp in this one.

Early game - 


Farm with your Q. its ok to take a few hits at level one but don't make a habit out of it later because if you don't get tanks you have to survive till 6. If you are getting a gank you either go in for a quick exchange before hand and back (which they usually win slightly) or just wait for a q to hit and go hard then. 

Mid game - Mundo becomes much stronger when he has his core items. From Item one to the third you are in the process of becoming the mound we know and love who eats damage for fun. With the movement speed ult and r its hard for you not to be able to stick on the carries but it may require you to do a bit of back and forth running around. When you pop your ult you lost 1/3 of current health and that synchronised with a stun, ignite and some damage can end you if the fight isnt right. Basically just don't rambo it and run in on your own with no back up. 

Late game - good and bad points. By this stage they usually have some tank / HP killing items + morellos / executioners which actually hurt you. Just keep tabs on who has what to guide you in how deep you can actually dive and to who. If Everyone has built just for you it might be an idea just to peel. Stat wise Mundo gets great health and regen but pretty poor resistances. If you are getting killed resistances are better than health.
