Summoner Spells Back to Top

I like to run 3.png vs dive heavy comps vs multiple champs such as 122.png114.png24.png55.png121.png11.png107.png92.png23.png62.png157.png.  Especially when my support decides to take 14.png.  6.png can be very viable vs low mobility, low CC comps such as 1.png63.png202.png222.png30.png96.png21.png37.png16.png101.png83.png.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

I've tried a lot of different keystones.  I'm going to rate them from least favorite to most.  6263.png is by far my least favorite.  It was actually the 1st one that I used and I thought it was so OP at the time.  The problem is it doesn't  help you do, what 36.png excels at.  He has very little CC and peeling is not really your strength.  It also, weakens your very strong early game and allows possible kills to slip out of your grasp, which could stop you from snowballing the game.  That's problematic with this being such an early game meta.  The bonus hp amounts to very little even in the end.  You can be unkillable, but if you do no damage and your whole team still dies, you either just die more slowly or walk away but still lose objectives and the game.

6162.png is decent but it's hard to stick to most squishies to really utilize it's damage.  I give 6261.png the slightest nod over it, because it allows you to run 6251.png or 6252.png which I find a lot more useful than 6151.png.   A lot of times it's easier to stay in combat for 4 seconds and get that big auto, than to try and land multiple autos.  Plus, the lifesteal works well with his kit.  I will also say though, it's a pretty mediocre keystone and has been nerfed to the ground.

6161.png  is by far the strongest keystone in the game right now.  The lifesteal synergizes well with his kit.  You ALSO get lifesteal while farming which helps a lot early game.  Plus, the movement speed you get is huge.  This might arguably be the best keystone for him.

But I prefer 6361.png since it's the I came here to carry this shit keystone.  You HAVE  to build 3748.png or 3046.png so that you can proc it on squishies.  Which is a somewhat sub optimal item on him right now, but this keystone allows you to do what you do best.  Run down squishies, dive with impunity and go wherever you damn well please.

Update:

So I've stopped running 6361.png and switched to 6161.png.  I've also thought about trying 6362.png, but I've had so much success with 6161.png I'm going to stick to it for the time being.  The problem with 6361.png is it's great at snowballing but terrible from behind, while 6161.png is useful in all situations.  I'm going to break down every mastery that I pick.

Your masochism.png is your strongest ability right now in terms of farming and in damage.  6111.png works very well with it.  6122.png is unnecessary since 6161.png keeps you healthy and you're a great duelist early so 6121.png makes more sense than 6123.png.  As previously stated your sustain  in the jg is strong and you'll be plenty tanky as 36.png what you lack is damage and to stay as a threat to the other team's back line, that's why I take 6134.png over 6131.png.  Once again, I'll reiterate that masochism.png is your key ability so that makese 6151.png superior to 6154.png.  You start with minimal to no resistances most games and it'll take you 3 to 4 completed items to even start building any, plus 6211.png works well with 36.png drmundopassive.png.  You're going to naturally tank a ton of damage as 36.png so 6223.png is clearly a great mastery for him.  6231.png is amazing on 36.png especially in a meta with so many shielders and healers. To be honest 6241.png6242.png6243.png are all great masteries for 36.png.  If I run 6.png or 3.png I'll take 6241.png to abuse those spells.  If I'm planning to charge the carries all game or the other team has a wombo combo where they might try to burst me down I'll take 6243.png.  If the the other team has poke or I need to front line damage but can run in and out of fights 6242.png is great.

Update 2:

I've been using 2 separate mastery pages, I use 6361.png vs squishy comps and 6162.png vs tanky one's.  As long as you can consistently proc it 6361.png makes 36.png a complete nightmare for squishies.  6162.png is great vs tanks because normally they can just ignore you, but if the fight goes long enough, you start to do significant damage.  It also catches a lot of people off guard who usually expect  nothing to happen in tank fights.  Then suddenly you start winning the fight handily and you run them down with your ult and q spam.  Also, I've found myself always taking 6241.png.  The reduced cd on your 11.png is so important as a jungler.

Update 3:

So I've come full circle and I'm running 6263.png again.  I went on a losing streak and realized I was playing way too aggressive and taking too many risks.  I started playing more for the team and building more as a tank.  I've started to win a lot more again.  I've also started to split certain masteries.  Trying to find the balance of keeping 36.png healthy in the jungle early.  While trying to maximize his damage, once he no longer has any issue clearing the jungle.

I max masochism.png 1st since it's great at clearing, dueling and bursting down carries in team fights.  I take burningagony.png 2nd because it allows you to clear super fast while allowing you to drop a solid amount of dps in team fights.

Update:

Now that I'm running 6263.png again, I'm going infectedcleavermissilecast.png max.  While you're dueling is weaker early on.  Your ganks and team fighting are much stronger.

Situational Items

I always start 1041.png but I've heard 1039.png is good for a wraith start, that I normally don't do.  I use1413.png exclusively since it helps you skirmish a lot early and allows you to charge the other teams carries while making it very hard for them to kill you.  3046.png is a great early game option if you're ahead.  It makes 36.png an absolute nightmare to carries that are behind.  It's makes him just tanky enough that you can't kill him, while giving him sonic the hedgehog speed with his sadism.png and let's him drop a 500 crit masochism.png.  If you're not snowballing you want  3742.png 3143.pngdepending on whether or not the enemy team's adc is building crit early.  For magic resist you always want  3065.png , it's the best item in the game for 36.png kit.  I hate 3075.png as a full item but 3076.png is so busted and there are so many healers in the meta 40.png37.png16.png that I'll buy it early and sell it off the way a lot of bruisers do with 3123.png.  3109.png is a good buy if you're behind but your adc is fed. 3193.png is amazing on 36.png.  I'll typically buy it as a 5th item.  It allows me to start team fights by just running at the other team and hopefully baiting out key cool down and then running out and healing with sadism.png.  3083.png is great for extended sieges or dealing with poke comps.  You don't want to build if the other team's adc is building 3153.png or if it's shorter wombo type team fights where you can't really utilize it's passive.  I've started to really dislike 3748.png.  It's super expensive and it's build path is not smooth for 36.png.  But as a potential 6th item or if the game goes long enough to sell your boots, it allows you to deal a crap ton of aoe damage late game once you have all that bonus hp.

VS

Amumu

Easy

You can bully him early.  If you can take blues away from him, he'll really struggle.   You'll also out scale him.  You just have to have to be careful of him landing money ults on your team.

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

Luckily he's almost always banned.  While you have better early clear.  His damage and tankiness equal yours while having a lot more CC.

VS

Elise

Medium

You can kill her early if you get the upper hand.  You'll also out scale her a lot.  But be careful of her surprise cocoon from a bush.  If she gets early kills she can snowball a game.

VS

Evelynn

Easy

If she has 14.png be careful of potential early cheese.  If she has 4.png you can cheese her as she takes a lot of damage early.  You will also out scale her as long as she doesn't snowball.

VS

Gragas

Hard

His clears are pretty healthy early.  He's also tanky and mobile enough that you can't really kill him early.  He also provides a lot of CC.  You will eventually be more tanky and do more damage.

VS

Janna

Hard

Not a jungler, but she counters you so hard and is so broken right now.  I ban her every game.

VS

Jax

Hard

He stays pretty healthy in the jungle.  You can duel him but you have to be careful of his E.  If he gets a lead on you things can get out of hand in a hurry.  He also out scales you.  You want to get objectives and force him to team fight where you can CC and burst him down.

VS

Kayn

Medium

He has a ridiculously fast clear.  Can snowball pretty hard too.  You'll out scale if you're even.  You can really punish him too if you get ahead.

VS

Kha'Zix

Medium

Be careful of his isolation damage.  But you can kill him, if you catch him low.  Can snowball really hard.  But you can out scale and does poorly from behind.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

I get a lot of of 1st bloods with most Lee Sin players not knowing I can out duel them.  Be careful of the out play potential.  As usual, great Lee sin players can carry.  But if they don't you'll out scale him by a lot.

VS

Maokai

Medium

You have a much faster clear.  You have a lot better dueling.  But you can't really kill him without over extending.  He'll get as tanky as you with a ton more CC in team fights.

VS

Master Yi

Hard

Hate this match up.  You can no counter play since he can't be slowed.  I ban him if 40.png is already banned.  I'll also take 3.png if my team doesn't have much CC or we don't have an 3.png.

VS

Nocturne

Hard

Very strong duelist.  Can snowball hard.  Struggles from behind and you will out scale.

Why I started to play Mundo? Back to Top

36.png was my 1st ever main.  I started playing him again in 7.9 after the buffs to 1413.png3065.png3083.png3742.png to see if he would be viable again.  He's actually exceeded expectations.  While I wouldn't call him "broken", I would consider him strong if you play him the right way.  The buffs to crit items such as 3031.png and 3087.png , along with the increase in cost to 3153.png and nerfs to 3033.png and 3036.png have helped.  Also, the change to 3143.png makes it hard for even late game hyper carries like 51.png157.png41.png to deal with 36.png.  In 7.11 buffs to burningagony.png as well as reduced lifesteal with  3153.png made him even stronger.

Pro's and Con's Back to Top

Pro's

-  The most underrated aspect of 36.png is he actually farms extremely fast in the jungle.
36.png isn't just a normal tank.  He's a hyper tank.  In the late game, he becomes a raid boss.  As long as you can keep your team alive.  36.png will be able to tank a ton of damage and he's great at zoning out and threatening the other team's carries.

-36.png deals a lot more damage than you would expect.  Not only that, but with 3751.png and your burningagony.png it's a lot of aoe damage.

-36.png is a great duelist early game.

-36.png is great at running down carries and at counter ganking.  Once the other team's CC is down 36.png can wreak havoc.

Con's

- Lacks hard CC.

- A lot of potential counter play 14.png3123.png3153.png3165.png3076.png

- Can be kited  and CC'ed by a good enemy team.

- Lacks a really great keystone.

Patch Notes Back to Top

7.13

Reduced cost to 3751.png allows 36.png to start clearing very fast.  The decrease in health to 1413.png early, but the increase to it's % hp increase fits into what you want to do with 36.png.  Play safe early, until you can scale into a late game monster.

7.15

A pretty big buff to our boy 36.png.  masochism.png gives him a bunch of free magic resist now.  Making 36.png an even bigger nightmare to AP heavy comps.

7.16

A slight increase of cost to 1413.png hurts, but doesn't affect 36.png too much.

7.17

Nothing to see here.

Jungle Pathing Back to Top

I typically do either a blue to gromp to red or red to blue to gromp start depending on where I want to gank and if I want to duel or avoid the other team's jungler.  If I want to cheese I'll do a 2 buff start and then ambush the other team's jungler at their buff.

Who am I? Back to Top

Just your typical gold elo scrub with a love for our boy 36.png.  I wrote this because typically when I write things down, I can get a clearer picture of what I can improve upon and change.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.  As I write this I have a 56% win rate on 36.png in a little over 150 games.  Hopefully I can play him to plat, and he won't become meta and be contested or banned any time soon.

Update:  Finally hit Plat!  Now I'm a Plat scrub.  Let's see how far I can go with our Lord and Savior.
