Summoner Spells Back to Top

Smite is required for any jungler, it lets you clear jungle camps, and buy Jungle items.

Flash is also standard on most Champions, you might be tempted to run something such as Ghost 6.png, but Flash 4.pngis still more valuable. Mundo is already fast enough, and without Flash you won’t be able to follow champions over walls, or immediately close a gap to escape.

drmundopassive.png Passive

Mundo passively regenerates 0.3% of his Max Heal each second.

Mundo's Basic Abilities infectedcleavermissilecast.pngburningagony.pngmasochism.png cost Health to cast

infectedcleavermissilecast.png  Infected Cleaver

Mundo throws a cleaver, dealing magic damage and slowing the first enemy hit, if you hit an enemy it refunds a small amount of health.
  • This ability is on low cooldown, and should be spammed during fights
  • Spam on camps while clearing for more damage
  • Move to the side of the minion wave to land Q infectedcleavermissilecast.png  on the enemy champion.
  • You can also throw this into a bush to check if there is an enemy champion in it.

burningagony.png Burning Agony

Active Mundo deals magic damage in a small area around him & gains tenacity
This ability deals damage to Mundo every single so be sure to toggle if on and off appropriately.
  • Cast this during the start of any fight just to do more damage.
  • When clearing camps keep this on to kill small monsters ( Raptors , golems, etc)

masochism.png Masochism

Passive: Taking Magic damage or casting other abilities give Mundo bonus Magic Resist
Active: Mundo gains bonus AD based on missing Health & resets Mundo's auto attack and his initial auto attack deals bonus physical damage.
  • Use this when you get in Auto Attack range to deal lots of damage
  • You can also spam this during fights, it's what makes Mundo be able to take down carries during fights

sadism.png Sadism

Mundo Regenerates TONS of health per second & gains bonus movement speed for the duration.
  • Use this during any fight when you start to lose health, or need the movement speed, Sadism sadism.png was recently buffed, making Mundo very, very strong, even if the enemy has healing reduction 3123.png3165.png14.png it doesn't matter to much.
  • Don't cast Mundo's ULT to late either, it's not something to be held on to, just use it, it last a long time, and the cooldown of it is very short, so don't wait until the last second to cast it during a fight.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Core Items

Situational Items

1041.png Hunter's Machete is the best starting item for Mundo Jungle, it lets you heal every auto attack, and synergies well with his high AD from E masochism.png, it also speeds up the time it takes to clear jungle camps.
2031.png Refillable potion is the gift that keeps on giving, you get 2 charges every time you back, and when you need an item slot you can sell it, very, very valuable.
3340.png A free ward on cooldown, you want to use this ward to help your lanes, so place it in the river or in a spot that the enemy jungler is likely to walk through.

Example Full Build

Early build path will most likely look like:

1041.png > 3715.png > 3751.png ( If you have the money you can buy boots before completing Cinder Hulk) > 1413.png > 3047.png

3047.png Gain a lot of value since you get lots of damage reduction against auto attacks, and it will be the only Armor you get for a while, while building into 3065.png for lots of healing and Magic resist.
3111.png Merc Treds lose a good amount of value since you already have tenacity from Legend%20Tenacity.png?width=32 & burningagony.png  and build into magic resist early with 3065.png
3143.png If the enemy team has a Crit based ADC / Carry Randuin's is the way to go, the active slow helps a lot as well, if they don't you can build Thornmail 3075.png instead.
3075.png Thornmail gives you damage, health, and Armor very good combination.
3083.png Getting just tons of health after finishing a Magic Resist & Armor item makes the Stats more effective, and Mundo even tankier.
3060.png If you team is ahead, Banner helps speed up / enable sieges.
3109.png Knight's vow will not make you that tanky, but instead give a carry some extra survivability if you are near them during team fights.
3742.png Heath + Armor + Extra movement speed to run enemies down.
3046.png If you are very fed and looking to push a lead even harder after finishing at least 2 tank items (3065.png3068.png) you can consider building Phantom Dancer, you get enough AD from E masochism.png, and the attack speed and crit from

Matchups Back to Top

Click on a champion below to see the author's notes on that particular matchup.

  • Camille
  • Graves
  • Kha'Zix
  • Nunu
  • Rengar
  • Trundle
  • Xin Zhao

Camille is a snowball oriented carry jungler, she will most likely look for lots of ganks. You can attempt to fight her at scuttle crabs, and also match her ganks with a counter gank really shuts down a lot of her utility, and if you enter the mid game and she doesn't have kills she really starts to fall off.

Graves is very strong because of his skirmishing power and jungle clear speed, you can still beat him down if you catch him out alone, and have the distance to run him down.

So camping in a bush that you know he will come by and infectedcleavermissilecast.png'ing him then running him down can be an easy way to shut him down.

Also once you get enough armor items late game it also becomes a 1 sided matchup.

But don't play early game as if Graves can't burst you, because he can.

Kha'zix has a slow ramp to being useful and threatening during the match, if you farm out your jungle and take a scuttle crab on cooldown you can stay even and basically handshake to scale with him.

Or you can invade his jungle for short fights in which he most likely jumps away, but if you can delay him farming camps it takes longer for him to scale, and you win that since you will also take longer to scale, but being a tank isn't as hard to have a impact without items vs a Khazix.

It's very hard for you to out pace Nunu's early clear, since he can quickly do a Buff then take a scuttle crab and move to the other river and take the next, if you can successfully start on the buff he doesn't start on in his jungle then you can steal a buff and take the scuttle crab as your 2nd camp before he can get there.

Watch out for Rengar's late invade onto your first buff, especially if you are on Red side and starting your Red buff, he can build up his ferocity and kill you level 1 by constantly jumping from the bush and using Q rengarq.png

You can also build a very early 1029.png to shutdown a lot of his damage.

Trundle is already very strong in the jungle, and is a strong counter to Mundo because of his ULT trundlepain.png

Avoid taking 1v1s with Trundle unless you are further ahead of him in items.

Xin Zhao

Xin Zhao has very strong 1v1 and skirmishing power, avoid this and look to play for your ganks and farming your jungle.

You want to play a mirror of Xin's movements in the jungle to avoid him and take what is free in the jungle and on the map, rather than commiting to fighting him for it, because early game his buttons simply do more damage than yours.

Early Game Back to Top

Early Game you can choose drastically different corses based on if you start on your bot side Buff, or on the top side, which ever buff you start on you should most likely look to take the scuttle crab closest too it as your 2nd camp.

So if you start on Blue side, and start your Red Buff with your Bot lane, you would look to take the Scuttle Crab near the Dragon pit.

and the opposite if you are on Red Side and start your Red buff you should look to take the Scuttle Crab near the Baron pit as your 2nd camp.

After take the scuttle crab you can choose to either:

  • Go back to your jungle and clear 2-3 camps before ganking
  • Go back to your jungle clear your 2nd buff then look for the Scuttle crab in the opposite river
  • Move into the enemies jungle to take their buff / mirror the enemy jungler expecting them to be on the opposite sides scuttle crab and take your 2nd buff.
  • Or attempting a level 2 gank in any lane
The pathing should be determined by what champions your team has, and what champions the enemy teams have, the lane positions, and the enemy jungler's champion, expect path, and if you see them on vision or not.

Doing Golems & Raptors will also take a good amount of your heath on first clear.

Early game consist of lots of farm and maybe 1 skirmish / gank.

Mid Game Back to Top

Mid Game you can look to start forcing plays / interacting with champions around Mid Game, since you will be tankier, and clear faster because of 3751.png.
Mundo's ganks unless flanking from a distance aren't that effective since Mundo has no CC and can only slow with his Q infectedcleavermissilecast.png having more items and being tankier you can start fighting champions, as a tank it's best if you fight around your allies so they can deal damage to the enemies that are hitting you, you do, do a lot of damage as Mundo solo, but it helps to have a numbers advantage, especially if you are fighting multiple enemies.

Take fights around objectives, its easier when the enemies feel pressured to walk into you and your team, and then you can run them down with Q infectedcleavermissilecast.png & ULT sadism.png  rather than running at them as they run away.

Keep farm through the Mid game you still have big power spikes to hit in 3065.png & an Armor item. Without farm those take to long to get.

Late Game Back to Top

Late Game Mundo is more effective the more items you have completed, simply because you are tankier, and can have more of a impact in a fight, because your champions survives a lot of damage.

Late Game the map will most likely look like both teams pushing out mid lane and looking to make plays around baron, since you have no CC on Mundo you can only start fights by catching someone checking the fog of war with a Q infectedcleavermissilecast.png. So carry lots of Control Wards 2055.png.

When doing Baron / Elder Dragon you are tanky enough to sustain a lot of damage if you and your team have to dance around it for a long time, unlike other tank junglers its fine for you to just sit on it and take it's damage, if you get low enough you can even use your ULT to stall even longer.

If you have other engage on your team from champions with CC such as (54.png89.png etc) it's better to let them start fights off, then use your positioning to get as close to the enemy carries as possible, and most the time this will involve moving behind them as fights starts, rather than running from front to back which you will likely be slowed / CC'd and then be kited by the enemy carries, rather than showing up behind them as a fight has already started.
