Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash + Smite - Best Option.

New Runes Back to Top

Domination

Electrocute - Reliable damage.
Sudden Impact - Damage out of stealth.
Zombie Ward - Extends lifetime of your wards. Must have on any jungler.
Relentless Hunter - MS is insanely good on her.

Sorcery

+18 AP - Faster Clear.
Celertity - MUST HAVE. +4% movement speed will mean the difference in charming an enemy or not.
Waterwalking - Extra movement speed + AP in the river ONLY. You can get Gathering Storm if your early game is safe enough.

Triple Movement Speed

Relentless Hunter, Celerity, Waterwalking

You must grab these in order to gank without stealth, and not die pre-6 to enemy jungler.

If you don't like Waterwalking, try Ultimate Hat.

MUST TAKE Q at Level 1, W at Level 2, and E at Level 3.

You are free to max charm or damage, so long as you max R > Q > E. Allocate skill points in W only if you feel that you need the increased charm duration. Remember that charm is most effective in a 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 skirmish, as it is a SINGLE-TARGET ability. You will find that late game usage of charm is best used to keep priority targets away from your team, so increased charm duration is ineffective.

Also, if you gain level 11 while fighting and your ultimate is on cooldown, max another ability instead. You will easily gain another level in the meantime.

Ability Overview:

Q: Early game, your only real damage. Fast jungle clear. Casts faster with more CDR, large burst late game.
W: A charm that takes 2.5 seconds to set up. Charm duration increases with additional skill points.
E: Max % HP damage. Scales with AP, not additional skill points.
R: Both an escape and an execute. Does increased damage to enemies below 30% HP.

How to use skills properly?

To use Q: Don't miss Q1. It is better to use first cast of Q before leaping in with E.
To use W: Pretending to gank a lane, or for a pre-6 gank.
To use E: Reliable ability to proc her W charm. Use it on the tank.
To use R: As an escape, or an execute. Bonus points for using it backwards to gapclose, because sometimes they survive with 10 HP.

Situational Items

❧   [Early Game]   ☙

Press W to gank pre-6.

3706.png1001.png3303.png   →   3113.png

Stalker's Blade + Boots + Spelltheif's Edge → Aether Wisp

Make sure to build Spelltheif's for extra damage, and to begin gold genration early. It offers 39 damage at level 1. Killing jungle monsters does not affect Spelltheif's Edge, only minions do.

1082.png Dark Seal (Optional) - If you want one.

❧   [Mid Game]   ☙

No need to use W - Just E and Q.

1402.png   →   3020.png   →   3100.png   →   3089.png

Runic Echos (Blue) → Sorcere's Shoes → Lich Bane → Rabadon's Deathcap

Once you have Lich Bane, you can burst enemies without W charm. Just E, Q1, and Q. You can use the W for a slow.

3145.png Hextech Revolver (Optional) - Best bought before or after Lich Bane. A great item to start snowballing with.

❧   [Late Game]   ☙

Charm the tanks for heavy magic penetration.

1402.png3020.png3100.png3089.png   →   3135.png

Runic Echos + Lich Bane + Rabadon's Deathcap → Void Staff

Reminder: Your job is to charm the tanks. Once you remove 35% of their magic resist, why not even more? With Void Staff, you are ignoring 75% of any targets magic resist. Press E and R to finish off anyone.

3303.png Spelltheif's Edge (Sell) - Not worth upgrading. If you want the bonus movement speed boost, buy Frostfang after Lich Bane.

3102.png Banshee's Veil (Optional) - Block an ability. Broken.

3157.png Zhonya's Hourglass (Optional) - Not necessary with Evelynn's ultimate. Useful for blocking an ability.

3151.png Liandry's Torment (Optional) - Useful if they have few tanks, as the flat magic penetration will insure near true damage.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

Build Full Tank so he can't kill you. Iceborn is a good pick.

VS

Ahri

Easy

Aww it's a fox girl! Flash + E should finish her off her mobility is delayed. She's super weak without her ultimate, with a Iceborn/Rylai's she's dead. Be sure to be tanky so 1 charm won't mean the end of you.

VS

Akali

Easy

Akali is more of a threat to your team than she is to you. She can kill you with 1 item if you have no MR so be careful, like when you have Rylai's + Runic Echo's she'll 1 shot you with 3 stacks of ult and a Hextech. Just get some MR and Pink wards.

VS

Alistar

Easy

Poops on your parade. Let your team engage, then flank him. IF he headbutts you, just leave. He's now in the back line and the carries are exposed. Stay stealthed and ambush the carries.

If you want to kill him, just get a Blade of the Ruined King. But why would you when you can kite with Rylai's?

VS

Amumu

Medium

He's good against Evelynn. He clears fast so invades waste your time. He won't invade you. His ganks are bad, but his counterganks are amazing. Don't fight him alone you'll die. Just pick him off when he walks away with 25% HP.

VS

Anivia

Easy

Will stay midlane all game. Her wall will kill you due to pathing issues. Don't get stunned, you'll die. You can kill her if you're ahead or pushing the wave with 0 mana.

A bad lane for ganking, try elsewhere.

VS

Annie

Easy

Flash Tibbers! Too bad this won't work on Evelynn, she's perma stealthed! Just die if she singles you out like that.

Early Hexdrinkers to gank, sh'es super easy to kill, check her stun stacks.

VS

Ashe

Easy

Kill Ashe. Rylai's or Iceborn is necessary.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Easy

Walk away from the AOE stun. He's surprisingly hard to kill since chasing him will put you into the orbit range. Flank him, slow him, get into mêlée range where he is the weakest. Don't chase him too hard.

VS

Azir

Easy

Shurimaa! Will hog mid lane all game. Gang up on him and he'll die. His turret does more damage than a regular turret. Flank always. Make him waste his ultimate.

Never fight him under his turret. Never charge head on.

VS

Bard

Easy

A ton of damage early game, but it's inconsistent. You can't kill him when he roams, he'll wall stun you or just Magical Journey away. If you camp the exit he'll die. If you camp bushes he'll die too.

Spam Q if on his journey. You will kill him before he stuns you. If you take the journey you remain invisible, but the travel itself is visble.

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

He can't grab you. Kill him when he's low. His lanes are kill lanes, camping them is fun.

VS

Brand

Easy

If you're worried, build Abyssal Scepter. Honestly Hexdrinker is the better pick up but doesn't work well in an AP build.

Once you have Abyssal/Maw and Spectre's Cowl you can't die.

VS

Braum

Easy

Your average tank with a slow. Press W to cleanse the slow. Don't focus Braum. Flank his carry, disengage if necessary. His  ult will never hit you.

VS

Caitlyn

Easy

Easy to kill, hard to gank. If she pushes lane she's dead. Otherwise go elsewhere.

Be sure to walk around traps. Enter bushes from the middle, the corners are trapped. Beware of Q.

VS

Cassiopeia

Easy

Stack MR, get 1 damage item. You can kill her as a tank assassin i.e. Rylai's tank, Triforce Tank, and my favorite, Titanic/iceborn tank.

Will get remade with a "grounded" cc that affects Evelynn nil.

VS

Cho'Gath

Easy

Extremely easy. Chogath isn't a tank. Blade of the Ruined King or Liandries to kill. Rylai's/Iceborn and Chogath will get focused by your team.

Remember to not stack on teammates.

VS

Corki

Easy

Hard to gank. Extremely mobile, if you flank he'll reposition and you'll die. He's squishy, catch him off guard and he's dead.

Recommended: Dead Man's Plate, Rylai's.

VS

Darius

Medium

The super annoying mêlée carry.

Rylai's + Health + Armor + Red Smite. Shut him down early, it's easy. If he gets out of control, well I suppose Iceborn can work. Make sure your team has CC, and KITE DARIUS WITH RYLAI'S SO YOUR TEAMMATES DON'T DIE.

VS

Diana

Easy

Build some MR, kill her. Best way to gank is to wait for her to dive your midlaner. Then kill her because she dived into a 1v2.

Better Diana's will dive only when they have a minion behind them. Be sure to smite that so they can't leave.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Medium

If you get hit by a cleaver, cleanse it. If you get hit by a cleaver after that you die. Basically dive the back line, and survive. Rylai's to peel mundo off.

VS

Draven

Easy

He can sort of 1v1 you, but not as well as Vayne/Quinn/Kindred. Make sure you have a team to back you up. Else Just go Titanic Hydra Tank and kill him while taking no damage.

VS

Ekko

Medium

Pretty annoying champion, his w stun is super predictable, run one direction then reengage, Ekkos don't expect that. Early MR is a must. Don't 1v1 him, even if you win he'll press R and get out of jail free.

VS

Elise

Easy

She can one shot you with no items, levels only. fight her if she misses her stun, she's super weak then. If you're concerned about early dueling, take Red Smite, then build into an Abyssal or Hexdrinker. She's irrelevant mid to late game, she can't stun you and if she rappels, stand near the farthest minion. Tank Evelynn is great, Elise's stun is the best part about her kit, so don't be afraid to invade level 2 and kill her.

VS

Evelynn

Hard

It's really weird playing a mirror match up. If you want to kill Evelynn, build iceborn gauntlet into sterak's gage. Sell jungle item for Titanic Hydra. Evelynn can't kill you. Build Hexdrinker, into Maw. It's gg, this is the best evelynn build. Muramana Eve can still kill kill that build though.

VS

Ezreal

Easy

Basically flank the lane. Let your laners fight. If they're doing poorly walk in, E + q. If they're winning, Ezreal will E into your face. Kill him.

Late game do the same thing. Be sure to have flash, Ezreal will save Arcane Shift for 20% HP. When he does, Flash, (you must have ravage up).

VS

Fiddlesticks

Medium

Fiddle stick is super annoying. You can duel him with an 800g executioners calling. Else just run away from drain. Once drain is down he's dead. Play Iceborn Tank Evelynn, and flank the enemy team.

Evelynn needs to save her ultimate and stand at the side of the teamfight. If Fiddle sticks ults, press r on the enemy team. THis will prevent a follow up. If you have Randuin's Use that too, or just counter engage. (you'll need iceborn for the AOE slow).

VS

Fiora

Medium

YOu can't really fight fiora, and she'll never get all 4 vitals on her ult on you. Just W away and wait until the ultimate disappears. Late game, as long as her ultimate isn't on you, you'll win.

VS

Fizz

Medium

Very Annoying. Build MR so he can't burst you. Max E so you can burst him. Q, aka HateSpike is useless. Red Smite + E Max and MR.

VS

Galio

Easy

You don't see him often so your team will stack and he'll flash ult and kill you all. Basically don't stack with your team, then build like a rylai's or iceborn. If you want to kill him, use Blade of the Ruined King, honestly Galio is not a high priority enemy.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

You can't clear his barrels without getting hit, and chase him because he can cleanse your slow. His Autos do a lot of damage, I'd either kite him with Rylai's as AP eve or let teammates kill him as iceborn tank Eve.

VS

Garen

Easy

Are the villan? leave the fight at 50% hp, else slow him and slowly kill him. He's easy to gank. Red Smite true damage recommended.

VS

Gnar

Easy

He'll slow you with Q, you can cleanse. It's not worth to chase him. Approach him after he uses his skills in Mega Gnar. Make sure his bounce cooldown is off. Never stack with your team.

If you want to kill him, ambush him, he's super squishy and super situational.

VS

Gragas

Easy

Annoying champion. Beware of the flash bodyslam.

You kill him with a slowing item, he's not tanky enough to withstand your Hate spike and teammates.

VS

Graves

Medium

You can't really kill him, but he can't really kill you. Make sure to dodge his Q (return strike = tons of damage). I'd play tank evelynn with slows and armor.

A typical teamfight skirmish involves you pressing E on graves, Q and auto until he dashes away, then you leave the fight.

Beware of walls.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

Blade of the Ruined King absolutely demolishes him. He can burst you, be sure to flash his ult if he tries to kill you while jungling.

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

Not worth ganking. Tell your laner to farm.

If you do want to gank him, smite a turret just because. Then mêlée him. You must have MR. If he's a tank, and he's ahead you'll need some allied crowd control. I'd go tank Evelynn and dive him all game.

VS

Illaoi

Easy

Don't fight her. If you get ulted, back off ASAP. If you keep dying to her it's because you're feeding her. If she goes AD, it's a easy late game. You require your adc to kill her, so kite the illaoi.

VS

Irelia

Easy

Basically you need a Rylai's. She can't burst you down without you running away and slowing her. If you go tank first, she will burst you down.

P.S. Don't run into a minion wave.

VS

Janna

Hard

Really annoying champion. There are a few ways to play around her:

1) Ignore her. Kill the carries, dodge tornados. Hardest method.

2) Bait out her ultimate. You can chunk her HP to 30% easily with Iceborn/Rylai's.

3) Kill her. Easily done with a Triforce/Titanic Hydra. Of course we're talking tank Eve here.

4) Pretend to kill her, then get on the carries. Eve is so fast that this is the best option. Always flank her so she must use a tornado or ult.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

HE has 0 damage outside of his E + Q burst combo. Dodge it and show him who's boss.

Easy to invade, his clear sucks.

Build slowing tank, if you or your teammates get ulted, you can keep them away.

VS

Jax

Medium

Can pretty much kill you late game. You can still duel him mid game. Early game is possible as well.

BE SURE TO NOT WASTE RAVAGE WHEN HE HAS COUNTERSTRIKE ON.

Get Red SMite, maybe a Rylais if you don't want to duel him, if you do, iceborn.

VS

Jayce

Easy

FFlank him, he'll hammer you away, press W, he's dead. If you don't get into range after w, leave.

VS

Jhin

Easy

FInd him and kill him. Try to dodge the snare. It's not hard killing Jhin.

VS

Jinx

Easy

FInd her and kill her. Be sure to dodge the chompers, I get hit every time :( Flash if it's late game.

VS

Kalista

Easy

Kalista used to be OP, now she's too nerfed to do her magic tricks. A tank Evelynn with a slow, or AP Eve should kill her. Remember she has a slow.

Beware of her support.

VS

Karma

Easy

Her damage is insane. Don't overstay any fights. Get some MR and slow resistance, should make her irrelevant. You can stand back and wait for her Mantra + E, press R.

VS

Karthus

Easy

Kill him, it's easy.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

A good Kassadin player is a good assassin. You should be able to hold the front line while kassadin dives your back line. Whoever kills eachothers back line first wins.

VS

Katarina

Easy

She hurts, but she can't kill you. If your team has no CC, it's game.

VS

Kayle

Easy

You can't fight her late game. Try to flank, do AOE damage and soak up damage until your team arrives from the front. this prevents Kayle from AOE'ing your entire team.

VS

Kennen

Easy

HIs damage and stuns will kill you. Be sure to have plenty of other HP before ganking.

If he dives and stuns + zhonyas, counter engage with your ultimate.

VS

Kha'Zix

Easy

Invade him and make his life hell. You can 1v1 him early. If he's ahead do not 1v1 him. If you are isolated, you will die. Be sure to build armor, he will one shot you and you will have major regrets despite your lead if you don't.

Red Smite, dead Man's Plate.

VS

Kindred

Hard

Horrible Champion to play against. She will invade you, do red buff first. Or do krugs, then raptors then red. Be mindful of an invade. You can 1v1 her once you're a full tank with Thornmail. Save your cleanse for her slow, it's a 3rd hit delayed 70% slow. I think.

Also bait out her ultimate, disengage immediately.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

Kill kogmaw, but be careful. He can shred you pretty hard.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

Hard to gank, but not impossible. Camp her return pad and greet her with E + Q + smite. You'll want a bit of MR, she can't poke you since you're stealthed.

VS

Lee Sin

Easy

You're the better duelist early game. Use your range deny him autos. Beware of invades. Red buff first or third.

VS

Leona

Easy

Camp this lane, leona has no disengage and will always all in. It's easy to punish them for that.

VS

Lissandra

Easy

She's slow and clunky, if you catch her off guard she'll die. Most of her fights involve her getting into a near mêlée range, you win with autos. Build tank to make yourself an unattractive target for her ultimate.

VS

Lucian

Easy

His dash is pretty short. If you're bad at Evelynn you'll get outplayed with his ultimate. Just build armor so he does no damage to you. Turrets are also weak. Hate spike must be spammed.

VS

Lulu

Medium

Purple! She so adorable, why would you want to kill her? Even if you wanted to, you can't. Let the mid laner and Lulu battle, come in to make it a 2v1.

Late game, she'll deny you kills. Always be prepared to kite backwards and disengage when she does. Chasing will get you killed.

VS

Lux

Easy

Mercury Treads, Banshee's Veil, Rylai's/Iceborn. Always run into mêlée range, if she misses her snare, she's dead. If she hits, you're full of MR so it doesn't matter. You try again.

Eve = low risk attack patterns
Lux = If I miss snare, i'll die.

If you really want to kill her, or any AP immobile champ for that matter, try Maw + Abyssal. You'll need a Lich Bane or Rylai's to top it off though.

VS

Malphite

Easy

He can't ult you if you flank. If he does ult you, you have 4 more unaffected teammates. Red Smite if you'd like to kill him early. Get tanky, he's easily kitable.

VS

Malzahar

Easy

DON'T FLANK THIS VOID BEING. Let your tank line engage, then flank from the side :D

VS

Maokai

Easy

I'm not sure what his kit does, but I've never had any trouble with him. I believe he gets stacks very quickly from Hate Spike, so be careful.

VS

Master Yi

Medium

You can 1v1 him in his jungle. If he decides to mediate, back off. You'll need a Red SMite to get that last tick of damage off.

Late Game: you lose to yi. Build Full tank by now, with a Titanic you should wreck they enemy team and bring yi's focus over.

VS

Miss Fortune

Easy

She can't wombo you because you're behind her. Word of warning, she's strong at baron and dragon. be warned.

VS

Mordekaiser

Easy

Rylai's. Slow him for days except the occasional Flash. He won't be killing anyone anytime soon. He's mêlée, his lane is super easy to gank.

VS

Morgana

Medium

Moderately annoying. It's not about the snares you dodge, it's the ones that hit. Get Merc Treads and you should be fine.

A great Eve player will engage right after a missed snare. Then disengage. Then reengage as a janitor.

VS

Nami

Easy

You can dodge bubbles easily. If you get slowed repeatedly, back off. Her wave isn't effective, you can walk around or get knocked up really short durations. She'll use wave when you ult/flank, disengage before she follows it up with a bubble.

VS

Nasus

Easy

You counter his entire kit. Rylai's is mandatory. Never be in mêlée range, only q range.

VS

Nautilus

Easy

You'll want your tank to engage before you do, being perma-cc will kill you out of position easily.

VS

Nidalee

Medium

Good Nidalees are rare.

1) Don't walk in bushes.
2) Stay stealthed until you're in mêlée range.
3) You kill her only if you're in mêlée range. Else you disengage ASAP before she lands a spear and jumps on you.

Tank Eve with Titanic anyone?

VS

Nocturne

Medium

If you want to kill him, grab ignite and red smite. Otherwise he'll auto you to death while being a tank. Basically build armor, and boots. Try to save your teammates that get ulted by him.

VS

Nunu

Easy

Beware of getting counterjungled. Nunu can't kill you. You can't kill nunu. Just find out where he is and let him have your camps while you farm his side. If you have good teammates you can stalk nunu and 3v1 him.

Seriously, Nunu can't see you so he can't escape while counter jungling you.

Also, when ganking don't do 1 camp before. recall -> lane -> gank -> farm. Your jungle is warded.

VS

Olaf

Medium

You can't kill him. Get Boots, Dead Man's Plate, Runic Echos etc. He can't slow you unless he picks up his axe.

VS

Orianna

Easy

She's a doll! Beware of stacking, you'll die. She's hard to chase down, but if you do, be sure to be a slowing tank.

VS

Pantheon

Medium

He kills you. Don't let him stun you. Early armor helps, but letting him use his coodowns is even better.

VS

Poppy

Easy

Pretty hard to kill, Poppy doesn't counter you at all. Slow him and steadily kill him. Disengage if ulted. Beware of walls.

VS

Quinn

Hard

Super hard. I'd recommend Red Smite ->  Warrior -> Dead Man's Plate. Build Iceborn or more resistances. This should be enough to follow quinn, and not die in a 1v1.

VS

Rammus

Easy

Rylai's. It's pretty funny, you counter powerball. Use blue Smite for the added slow.

VS

Rek'Sai

Medium

ehhh... Eve players in general don't believe Rek'sai is a counter. There are better players than me, ask them. I remember one of the said to invade Reksai early and kill her. In terms of dueling, it's who has more items. Red SMite is recommended.

Don't be afraid to invade her.

VS

Renekton

Medium

Can 1v1 every champion in the game, why is eve any different? If you hate him, 2v1 him. use red smite. wait out his 2 dashes. That's his poke. then kill him.

VS

Rengar

Easy

Kitty is vulnerable early. Be sure to build tank. Also, his ultimate reveals Evelynn, stay with the team. 3000-4000 range, I believe.

VS

Riven

Medium

You need flash to out play her. But honestly let her spam 3rd Q, and stun, then walkin with red buff. Easy.

VS

Rumble

Easy

He does a lot of damage, either be in mêlée range or disengage. Q range is a nono, that's also his flamethrower range.

VS

Ryze

Medium

Just get some MR, hopefully a banshees. He has a ton of burst, but few people can play him properly. you must survive the point and click snare and ensuing burst.

VS

Sejuani

Easy

Whoa how slow can you get? If you do get Rylai's, Sejuani won't be moving all game. Don't worry about her ultimate, flank the team from an angle and if they get 4 man ulted, proceed to shred them and distract the enemies from your frozen teammates. Ideally you'd trade their backline for yours.

Invade if you'd like, her clear is slow, and her health drops low.

VS

Shaco

Medium

Check if he has ignite. If he does start red first. Press tab to watch his build. Is he AP? Is he AD? Admit that Shaco can see you without you knowing it. You'll have to build some form of resistance since Shaco can ambush you in stealth.

VS

Shen

Easy

Just be careful to back off when the person you're assassinating gets ulted by Shen. With that in mind, don't dive the enemy team for a kill.

VS

Shyvana

Easy

Really annoying if she gets ahead. She can shred you, but you can kite her with Rylai's. Don't be afraid to duel her early. Once she gets Blade of the Ruined King, you can't fight her, BUT your teammates can.

VS

Singed

Easy

He's bothersome. He's countered by you. Just walk up and kill him when he's low. Otherwise don't bother, you're wasting your time.

VS

Sion

Easy

Really simple, don't get stunned. Slow him continuously, his damage output is laughable. Sion is a utility tank, so you can ignore him.

VS

Sivir

Easy

Be sure to use Q and break her spell shield. If you use E, I believe the first half gets blocked, and the second half goes through. I don't know. Blue Smite is advised so you can smite her when she ults.

VS

Skarner

Easy

He's too tanky. Don't fight him, he'll eventually win (It'll take 15+ seconds?) If he's behind it's an easy kill. Rylai's to kite him.

VS

Sona

Easy

She's so weak and squishy, if you catch her out she'll flash, waste ult, or die.

VS

Soraka

Easy

She's cute! And a unicorn. Best build is a tank assassin. Either Triforce -> steraks tank or Iceborn titanic Tank. Kill soraka if the enemy team is dumb enough to leave the turret.

VS

Tahm Kench

Easy

Rylai's is 200% must. You counter his entire kit, except a flash devour. Kite him, then cleanse the Q slow. Never be in mêlée range.

VS

Talon

Medium

A real pain to deal with. Either you or your teammates will die, so hopefully your team has CC and exhaust. If you gank, he'll use E and blink past you. Wait for him to blink towards your midlaner.

VS

Taric

Easy

Engage, bait out his ultimate, kite back. Rylai's is super helpful to kite backwards. His stuns are annoying, watch out for them.

VS

Teemo

Easy

You'll want to load all your damage onto Q. So Rylai's, and no sheen items. Liandry's, Abyssal, Banshees are all good pickups.

Be sure to gank his lane from the minion path, don't enter any bushes.

VS

Thresh

Easy

Try not to get hooked. You'll always be slowed by his ultimate, since you just cleased his exhaust slow or something :(.

VS

Tristana

Easy

Only gank if she's super pushed, or if you've git some OP support engages. Otherwise kill their support or gank elsewhere.

VS

Trundle

Hard

This champion has an AOE slow that can be cleansed for a fraction of a second and then will be reapplied. Buy Rylai's it's the only way to deal with Trundle.

VS

Tryndamere

Medium

You can't fight him, but you can kite him. You cleanse his slow too, so it's always going to be Trynd chasing you down.

If your top laner loses tower, or doesn't play safe and feed, it's gg. Therefore, Trynd is a high priority gank, pre-6. Do not invade.

VS

Twitch

Easy

A little hard to kill with his stealth, reminder: KEEP A PINK WARD, so you can kill him!

VS

Udyr

Easy

Honestly, if the Turtle chases Eve, they won't catch each other. At all. Be sure to build Runic Echos, Rylai's, but Dead Man's Plate is mandatory.

Don't be in mêlée range or you die.

VS

Urgot

Easy

You never see him, and he's a tank. Blade of the Ruined King should be amazingly effective against him.

VS

Varus

Easy

No mobility, only poke. Just tell your team to split push and farm. If they group for an objective, have your top laner TP, then engage, and Varus is a sad, dead, panda.

VS

Vayne

Medium

I don't like her. You can kill her, be sure to NOT STAND NEAR A WALL OR YOU'LL DIE. She's killable with some crowd control from your teammates. Thornmail + Armor + Health and she is forced to kite out of the teamfight. Leave her.

Eve should kill her early and snowball.

VS

Veigar

Easy

Banshee's Veil. Maw highly recommended. Stick to him, you'll never be stunned by event horizon, plus you can Flash over. Kill this AP stacking champ before he realizes he can sell all his items for tank ones LOL.

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy

He's long range, walk up and kill him. Be sure to dodge the knockup, Maw and Banshees are super helpful. AD is really good against these long range poke champions.

VS

Vi

Easy

Super easy, invade her, camp her, her clear sucks, and her cooldowns too. Once she hits 6 she has the upper hand however, since that cc is soo long. Of course with a bit of armor she's mince meat, so she'll go tanky and always ult you cause she hates you.

VS

Viktor

Easy

Another mid lane hogging champion, can be troublesome if ahead and lands all his spells. His stun is a warning to back off, heed it. Kill him with some MR, you'll definitely need it.

VS

Vladimir

Easy

Not a real issue, you can kite and slow him real hard. Peel him for your adc. His damage and sustain are troublesome, an Executioners calling may help. If he ults, back off.

VS

Volibear

Medium

He counters Evelynn real hard, but you have better ganks. Buy Rylai's to make his Q a joke. don't fight or chase him, his health regen is 30%.

VS

Warwick

Easy

A tad annoying, Warwick is mostly strong with his suppression. He'll always kill you 1v1, unless it's early game. A Morellonomicon may help.

VS

Wukong

Easy

Don't stack, or he'll ult the lot of you. If you have Rylai's peel him off your team. Else just counter engage, his ultimate is more cc than damage (if you're not caught in the center)

VS

Xerath

Easy

Another long ranged carry. Be sure to pick him off always, but you'll need Hexdrinker and a Banshee's veil. Try to dodge the stun.

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

Get Red Smite. You can duel him early game. Invade if you'd like. Late game he'll love to jump you, but too bad he can't find you. He can't one-shot you as long as you Red Smite him when he jumps on you. Plus, you'll need armor and some MR.

VS

Yasuo

Easy

Evelynn shits on Yasuo. Iceborn, some extra damage and armor, and Yasuo can't burst you down. DOn't get hit by the tornado, and don't fight him in allied minions.

VS

Yorick

Easy

He's easy to gank. Be sure to run from his clone after you kill the real one. Just focus the rest of the enemy team.

VS

Zac

Medium

He has real good ganks, and killing Zac is hard since he'll channel his jump before you can kill him. Help ward your bot lane and come for some delicious counter ganks.

VS

Zed

Easy

If you get an early Frozen heart you should be able to 1v1 him. If you're going Rylai's you'll be at a disadvantage. Try to flash after he reappears behind you.

VS

Ziggs

Easy

Wow, this champion lives at his turret. Literally waveclears 24/7. Ganks are not worth unless he's pushing. And he won't. Despite having insane wave clear. Buy some vision wards for your midlaner, and dive when you're tanky.

2016-11-13
Ziggs does A LOT of damage. Fight him when his satchel is down (although he probably used it to execute a turret, sigh). 99% of the time his satchel is up so assassination has to be fast, in less than 1 second. Bruiser builds fail. Tank builds are mediocre.

VS

Zilean

Easy

You can kill him, and if you want to buy a Rylai's. That counters his speed up real hard. Be careful of killing the ulted carry, they'll spawn with more health than they died with!

VS

Zyra

Easy

She can probably kill you if YOU engage, but since she's so eager to get kills, you just run in and destroy her squishy booty with some Spell Weaving.

Season 8 Jungle Clear Back to Top

Start Red or Blue. Finish three camps.

Blue, Wolves, heal by pressing Q on raptors, Red, gank.
Red, heal from raptors, wolves, Blue, gank.

Don't do a level 4 clear, since ganking is much more effective.
If you don't want to gank you take scuttle crab.

How to use Charm Back to Top

So don't max W ever. Q > E > W.

3 Questions to ask yourself:

1) Can I just walk up and kill the enemy? (Like 100 HP)
2) Am I standing behind them or in their escape route?
3) If I use W, will they walk towards me?

If you answered YES to #1, don't use evelynnw.png, walk up and kill them.
If you answered NO to #2, don't use charm, walk up and kill them. Instead use your charm after you land your Q for a slow.

If you answered YES to #3, use your charm, and let them walk to you.

How to Assassinate Back to Top

Read How to use Charm First.

You can assassinate without W when you have Runic Echos, Sorcs, Spelltheif's Edge, and Lich Bane. You only need half a Lich Bane to assassinate with W, or if they are 60% HP.

Your R evelynnr.png does not do much damage Level 1. It is only 300 damage if they are below 30% HP. Therefore you should use it to towerdive instead. When the minions push up, use W and walk under the enemy turret. DO not attack until your charm is ready. Then use E or Q, and R to kill them and drop tower aggro.

DO NOT MISS THE FIRST HALF OF Q. If you miss, you will do 50% less damage.

Late Game Back to Top

Late game you will do so much damage, that you should only use W evelynnw.png on the tank to kill them faster (reduces their MR by 35%) or to zone an enemy carry. In a teamfight you should use W on one enemy carry, then kill the other. This way if the second carry tries to help the first, they will be charmed.

You should always be standing on the side or behind the enemy team. Teamfighting is difficult so you have to wait for things to happen before you can even show yourself.

If you want to delay a teamfight, keep pressing W on the enemy ADC.

Securing Baron Back to Top

at 2000 HP

Blasting Cone (plant) or Flash > R > Smite

at 2500 HP
E > R > Smite

at 2800 HP
W > E > R > Smite

Most of the time R + Smite is enough.

Old Evelynn Back to Top

Quick STart

Jungle Route

Step 1) Buy Hunter's Talisman + Refillable Pot.

1039.png + 2031.png

Step 2) Start on the bot side of the jungle.

Gromp → Raptors → Red

Krugs → Raptors → Red

If you have low HP, wall to the edge of the Raptor's camp, press Q and walk away.
Do this many times to regenerate full HP.

How to Gank

Scenario 1: < 40% HP Don't gank.

Scenario 2: Enemies are near your turret. Walk behind them (Don't use W yet!) then spam Q, get in range for E. After they dash/flash, use yours as well, or W.

Scenario 3: My teammates are near the enemy turret. First, compare the HP bars of the champions. If your teammates are low and the enemy is low, expect the enemy jungler to gank that lane. Be smart and hide in the bush of your pushed lane. If your teammates are low and the enemy is healthy, tell them to back off. If they don't listen, hide in the bush for a counter gank. Don't die if your teammates die. If your teammates are healthy, and the enemy is low, look for the enemy jungler and kill him. Ward his camps if you are afraid to approach him, or he is absent. If both your laner and the enemy laner is healthy, 100% Hp, there is nothing you can do, go farm and ward the river. Take scuttle crab.

What To Buy

Do they have a Nasus, Darius, Poppy, Sivir, Karma, Lulu, Alistar, Viktor, aka DASHLESS champion? Buy Rylai's.
Do they have Lux, Leona, aka CC champion? Buy merc treads
Caitlyn,Yi, yasuo? Randuin's omen.

Try AP Bruiser, and AD Warrior Tank, best builds in my opinion.

Fervor or Thunderlords Decree?

Fervor of Battle or Thunderlord's Decree?

Depends on your range.

If you can enter mêlée range and stay there consistently, then Fervor of Battle will increase your damage output tremendously. More inportantly, as Tank Evelynn, you will also do damage with E. 112 on-hit damage proc'd twice for 224 damage is nothing to scoff at. That's about double the base damage of Ravage. (230 + 224 = 454 "base" damage on E.) Compared to that, Thunderlord's almost seems like trash. However, Thunderlord's can be proc'd from range. Specifically with Evelynn's Q.

The burst damage comparison for Fervor of Battle

Skill combo: Q + E

Fervor of Battle: Q (2 stacks) + E (4 stacks) = 28 + 56 = 84 extra damage
Thunderlord's Decree: 3 stacks = 180 base + 10% AP + 30% AD

As you can see, Thunderlord's wins short trades at level 18.

Skill combo: Q + E + AA

Fervor of Battle: Q (2 stacks) + E (4 stacks) + AA (2 stacks) = 28 + 56 + 84 = 164 extra damage
Thunderlord's Decree: 3 stacks = 180 base + 10% AP + 30% AD

One extra auto attack is needed to bring Fervor of Battle in competition with Thunderlord's BASE damage.
Thunderlord's still wins

Skill combo: Q + E + AA + AA

Fervor of Battle: Q (2 stacks) + E (4 stacks) + AA (2 stacks) + AA (max)= 28 + 56 + 84 +112= 276 extra damage
Thunderlord's Decree: 3 stacks = 180 base + 10% AP + 30% AD

There is nearly no competition with Thunderlord's at this point. Evelynn needs 320 bonus AD or 960 AP to match Fervor of Battle's damage. Fervor of Battle wins.

Skill combo: Q + AA + Q/AA + E

Fervor of Battle: Q (2 stacks) + AA (2 stacks) + Q (2 stacks) + E (2 stacks, max) = 28 + (56) + 84 + 112= 224 or 280 extra damage
Thunderlord's Decree: 3 stacks = 180 base + 10% AP + 30% AD

If we hold off using Ravage until Eve is stacked, we gain about 28 damage.

Conclusion: Fervor of Battle is only better than Thunderlord's if she can get 2 auto attacks off. With 1 auto attack she barely breaks even. However, even with one auto attack there is no cooldown on Fervor of Battle, making it a well placed choice. If Evelynn can get 3 or more auto attacks off, she's golden. Thunderlord's is still the best choice if Evelynn plays burst style, due to Q + E being the only skills she can use before the enemy dashes away.

IN-DEPTH Q&A ON ITEMS

Best build for beginners?

Rylai's Crystal Scepter build.

Keep the enemy tanks at a distance, and catch up to enemy squishies.

Your favorite build for fun!

Trinity Force build.

It's a great build that will consistently get you double and triple kills. You can initiate and not die, fight the enemy ADC and win. Best part is the movement speed on kills and assist resets.

I'm So Squishy! HELP ME

Eve feels squishy, but she's not.

Remember to keep squishies in auto attack range, and tanks in Hate Spike range.

You're invisible. You won't hit by skill shots, or targeted spells. You can't get poked! Unfortunately, you don't have inherent damage reduction. Imagine you're playing a mid laner that buys tank items. Before tank items you're just a squishy laner so you play super safe. That's how eve is played, except that stealth is her super safe zone. Always remember to choose the right moment to fight. Evelynn can be super tanky if she lands her ultimate on a lot of people. But choose the right moment! Timing is important. After you reach 40% hp, just run into your team. If they follow you, your teammates kill them.

Red, Blue, or Green Smite?

Red Smite to duel, and kill tanks. Blue Smite to counter mobility. Green Smite if you're on a team.

Thoughts on Blue Smite?

Relevant for early game ganks and picks.

Blue Smite will expand Evelynn threat range, especially if they're at the border of visibility, and you'd like to get close. Useful to get them in range of a Rylai's slow. Can kill enemies under 100 HP. Helps your teammates land skill shots.

Thoughts on Red Smite?

When enemies can 100-0 you, but you'd like to outplay.

20% damage mitigation is a mini exhaust, combined with true damage makes it an ignite. A niche pick to duel champions like Master Yi, Shyvana, Xin Zhao early to mid game. Its true damage is also useful to whittle down tanks. Can also be used to "exhaust" a Zed ultimate, Annie burst, and to counter damage while crowd controlled. (Smite can be cast under crowd control.)

Best Trinket Item?

Farsight Totem to scout out pink wards.

Start out with the yellow trinket, warding the enemy buff at 1:20. Even if you choose not to invade, the information that you receive from them doing the buff is a relief—it means you aren't being invaded. When warding, ward over the wall into the brush. This way the enemy cannot see your ward for that split second. When using the Farsight Totem, always use it offensively. Anticipating an invade is not worth, nor is lighting up your jungle. The strongest bushes to ward in my opinion are: The island bush in the river, the wall bush between the inner and outer turrets, the bush near the red buff that nobody checks, and the bush near the blue buff but is closer to the mid lane turret. After laning phase ends, the top lane river bush, the top lane bush #2 out of 3, and the bottom lane side bushes. This will give information about split pushers.

Boots Recommendations?

Boots of Swiftness for engages, Mercury Treads if you need tenacity.

You can't go wrong with Ionian Boots of Lucidity. The reduced Flash cooldown will probably save you without you noticing it, and it is cooldown reduction that can be a part of any build. I typically use the Alacrity enchantment for initiating, if I have Dead Man's Plate I will build the Captain enchantment instead. This will allow my team to follow up on my initiate. For a sustained damage type build, Furor is a good recommendation. Distortion is viable with AP Assassin Evelynn for extra Flash + E one shot combos. One thing to keep in mind is that Ninja Tabi is better than armor in scenarios involving many auto attack based champions. It is possibly better than Thornmail for the cost. As for tenacity, it can currently only be acquired through Mercury Treads, so buy them if you need it. If you are over 40% CDR, purchase Boots of Swiftness instead. Buy Boots after completing the jungle item, and upgrade after the first main item.

Runic Echos or Warrior?

Runic Echos for mobility. Warrior for damage.

Warrior is better if you're a tank. Runic Echos is a niche item on Evelynn, it gives her mobility, mana sustain, and a splash passive that allows her to execute enemies with Agony's Embrace (R). Warrior gives straight up damage and insane gold efficiency. But I will commonly go Runic Echos instead.

Why not Devourer or Cinderhulk?

Devourer and Cinderhulk hurt her early damage.

But if you do go Devourer, make sure to get the Strength of Ages keystone. If you go Cinderhulk, buy a Titanic Hydra. You're really hurting your early game however.

Rylai's or Iceborn Evelynn?

Rylai's is a bit better.

Use Rylai's to kite tanks with Q and chase. Iceborn to tank and counter AD assassins. If you're going Rylai's Crystal Scepter, the build path will be slightly more expensive, and you won't be as tanky. Iceborn is the better pickup if you're behind.

When do I buy tank items?

If they can one-shot you.

Takes a bit of experience to know exactly when the enemy mid can one-shot you, but remember this: If they're a mêlée carry like Fizz, Diana, Ekko, Zed, I'd be buying resistances right after I finish my Rylai's. You can however just slink away into the back of the teamfight, killing only the ADC and cleaning up, IF you're a squishy Assassin Evelynn.

Why are there so many builds?

A predictable Evelynn player is as good as dead.

I've seen many Evelynn players build her only one way: AD Tank only, AP Evelynn only, Runeglaive Rylai's Only. And the surprising fact is that each and every one of those Evelynn players does extremely well. So I thought to myself, what if these Evelynn players (who are higher ranked than me) learned from each other? What if they all shared their particular builds, and chose the perfect build for the perfect team composition? Part of this is my desire to counter enemy compositions, part of it is my desire to play a champion with no true counters. On top of that, Evelynn is one of the rare true hybrid champions. Thus, it is possible to build Evelynn any way that I like, and I will continue to do so, proving that the Evelynn player who chooses the correct build for that particular game, who associates the correct play style to the build, is the Evelynn player who will win.

Do you actually use all these builds?

Yes, but mainly Rylai's Crystal Scepter.

Sometimes it is better to play another build, but at the current moment my extra builds are for theory crafting and archival purposes. Rylai's Crystal Scepter seems to be core on Evelynn at the moment simply because it is so useful.

Should I follow these build paths in the exact order?

Not at all.

Don't follow a prescribed build path for Evelynn. Differences in team composition and type of damage output will influence which items she needs first. Determine what items will synergize well with the ally team and counter the enemy team. Then build the stats that are needed the soonest. For example, if the enemy team has an Elise who I know can 100-0 me mid game, I'd buy an Abyssal Scepter so if I do get stunned by Elise, I'll be able to survive the burst. Then I'd build Rylai's Crystal Scepter.

Playing against specific ememy champions, how do I counter them?

Check the Actual Champion Matchups section

I've played over 600 games on Evelynn, and after many failed experiments, I've developed an intuition as to which items counter which champions. Part of it is playstyle and technique. For example, Zhonya's Hourglass will counter Malphite's ultimate if used just in time, but alternatively, Evelynn could stay in stealth and have a teammate bait out his ultimate. Another example, Zhonya's Hourglass could counter Kindred's ultimate, since avoiding damage from enemies about to die is helpful, but maybe running far away from that ultimate is the better option. It's a question of how you choose to play Evelynn.

Should I even play Assassin Eve?

Probably not.

I mean it's fun playing as Rengar, but Evelynn is an assassin pre-level 9. It's a lot of wasted energy playing with Lich Bane and Deathcap, and forgoing a Rylai's Crystal Scepter because you want tons of damage. Evelynn can't disengage like a Fizz, nor can she insta-gib like a Rengar without Flash. Most times you'll be waiting for the enemy to walk to your bush rather than walking to them. The good side is that Evelynn can insta-gib better than a Rengar, and be useful afterwards as well. I recommending trying Assassin Evelynn out to improve your early game tactics.

What is the difference between the AP Assassin and AD Assassin builds?

Time it takes to burst down a carry:   {AP: 0.2 - 1.0 seconds}   {AD: 1.5 - 3.0 seconds}

Reading the above line you may wonder why anybody would even consider the AD Assassin build. Well, the trade off in burst times is inversely correlated to the amount of crowd control the enemy has. If the enemy team has high crowd control, they are often low mobility, and the AD Assassin build offers built-in crowd control removal, multiple movement speed buffs, and enables easier split pushing due to the enemies' lower mobility. If the enemy team has low crowd control, they often have high mobility, thus the Flash + E + Q combo should eliminate even the most slippery of enemies. Furthermore, the purchase of a Zhonya's Hourglass as a last item in the AP Assassin build counters most of the high mobility champions only crowd control. Examples include: Leblanc's Tether, Fizz's Ultimate, Ahri's Charm (fast reflexes), and Yasuo's tornado. Continued testing of the AD Assassin build revealed that the purchase of a Phantom Dancer as a last item gives substantially large critical strikes, often in the range of 800 - 900 damage. Additionally, the AD Assassin build is well equipped to chase enemies who have slows, through the use of Quick Silver Sash.

How do I play Assassin Evelynn effectively?

You need to scale.

Playing Evelynn as an assassin is a difficult skill to acquire because of the lack of gap closer that Evelynn has. I can however give the aspiring player some helpful tips. ① Let your teammates engage. Rather than make a pick which is difficult, let your Lissandra (my favorite assassin partner) isolate an enemy for you. ② Look for isolation opportunities, not isolated enemies. An obvious tactic is to wait in the bush for the split pushing ADC to join his team. An interesting tactic is to camp the wall bush between the inner and outer turrets, wait for the enemy to approach the equidistant point between the two turrets, and kill him again. ③ Position behind the enemy. If possible. Often the enemy is smart and won't allow you to. However, if an side inhibitor turret is destroyed and the team is grouped at the mid inhibitor turret, I would occupy the empty space between the destroyed turret and mid turret. ④ If there are too many vision wards (pink wards), travel along the wall of the map. ⑤ Use the fog of war, not bushes. Standing behind a corner is more surprising than standing in a bush. ⑥ Make them afraid of you. This is easy, and often overlooked. Many times when Evelynn ambushes an enemy, their first instinct is to run. Evelynn is fast so she follows. ⑦ If you're playing AP Assassin, Rabadon's Deathcap is your big powerspike. Will double your burst damage. Maybe quadruple. If you're playing AD Assassin, you have the more expensive build path, try to farm up by split pushing, but don't force your team into a 4v5!

Tank Evelynn?

Just buy Rylai's and tank items.

It's the best build at the moment. If you skip Rylai's, make sure to engage the enemy laners first and absorb all their skills. Late game if the enemy is not at their turret, walk behind, press r, and they can't even kill you.

I've started losing randomly after 50+ games! Also, I've tried and mastered all the builds. What's happening?

Shifting Playstyles problem. Read more below.

It's an interesting problem that occurs when a player is too experienced with Evelynn build paths but not play styles. Each build I mention has a specific play style complementary to it, and it differs for each build. Some symptoms include trying to assassinate an enemy carry with Trinity Force and tank items late game, or engaging a team fight with a Rylai's Crystal Scepter and an Abyssal Scepter. The problem is two-fold. First, a player who masters all the Evelynn build paths and switches between them constantly begins to misappropriate techniques specific for one play style to another. Second is the problem of when exactly does Evelynn embody a specific play style? To rephrase the question, Evelynn starts out each game with a jungle item. Therefore she is a high damage mage in the beginning of each game. When exactly does Evelynn start becoming a tank/fighter/assassin? Typically after her first non-jungle item. However, for specific builds such as the Trinity Force build, Evelynn must play as an AD assassin until she purchases Dead Man's Plate. Thus, keep in mind how much damage or resistances Evelynn has at the time, and use this information to determine the speed at which Evelynn can kill the enemy, and the damage she is able to resist.

Double Luden's Echo?

Er... What?

An interesting late game strategy is to sell Runic Echos for Luden's Echo, then sell your boots for Luden's Echo. With the movement speed from Lich Bane and 2x Luden's Echo, that is a total of 25%  bonus movement speed, or 85 movement speed. I am honestly unsure about this strategy, since it feels like overkill to me. It does however have precedent in the fact that ADCs used to sell their boots for a late game Zephyr (which also gave 10% movement speed, but also tenacity).

How do I purchase Janna's passive?

Captain Enchantment.

Ever played Janna and thought her passive was bad for engaging? No more! For the low price of 450 gold, you can own a better version of Janna's passive. Use Captain Enchanted boots to help your team follow up as you flank the enemy from behind.

Any other tips?

Yes! Items to NEVER build on Evelynn below.

Never build Sunfire Cape. It is a horrible item that will reveal you in stealth. Same thing with Bami's Cinder, but this problem does not occur with Cinderhulk. Another item is Elixir of Iron. Quite literally leaves a glimmering trail for both allies and enemies to follow, giving your position away.

ITEM RECOMMENDATIONS

Need to purchase a 6th item but not sure what to buy? Let me help you.

3116.png   /   3025.png

Rylai's Crystal Scepter for sticking power.

Iceborn Gauntlet for small AOE damage and semi-powerful sticking power.

3124.png   /   3748.png

Guinsoo's Rageblade for AOE damage.
Titanic Hydra for AOE damage.

3151.png   /   3153.png

Liandry's Torment for % health damage.
Blade of the Ruined King for single target tank shredding.

3146.png

Hextech Gunblade for single target burst with built in sustain.

3156.png

Maw of Malmortius against low magic damage teams.

3053.png

Sterak's Gage for initiation and absorbing burst damage, while increasing the bonus damage of Trinity Force's Spellblade.

3075.png

Thornmail is recommended if against 3 or more auto attack based champions.

3033.png   /   3165.png

Build Mortal Reminder if Titanic Hydra is built. Morellonomicon if otherwise. For use against 3 or more sustain champions, although ideally your ADC or mid laner should purchase these.

3140.png   /   3139.png

For teams with a high amount of suppression, and Tenacity just won't do.

If there is a teamfight you need to survive.

Short Champion Matchups

Difficult:

Volibear, Trundle
These champions are unkillable by Evelynn, but kitable. Purchase Rylai's Crystal Scepter to kite.

Shyvana, Master Yi
These champions get out of hand late game. Fortunately you're Evelynn, you can punish them early.
Counter jungle them and counter gank.

Medium:

Udyr, Nasus, Tryndemere
Buy a Rylai's Crystal Scepter against these.

Trydemere
He can't really kill you since you can cleanse his slow and kite him with Rylai's. If he's fed it's gg.

Elise, Ekko, Diana,
Mobile Mages, they will 1 shot you unless you get Abyssal Scepter first. Stay away otherwise or wait for their cd.

Annie, Velkoz, Xerath, Azir, Zyra
Easy to kill, wait for their cooldowns as they farm the wave.

Vayne, Quinn, Kindred
They can kill you in a 1v1 unless you kill them first. An extended fight = death.

Soraka
Consider going AP jungle item -> Triforce -> Sterak's Gage

Shaco, Wukong
Cheesy champions, be more afraid for your adc than for yourself. If they're killing you, buy armor/mr and they can't do squat

Nunu, counter junglers
Either ping your laners and 2v1 them, or walk into their jungle/gank. Evelynn is better at helping laners than farm heavy champions.

Assassons like Zed, Akali, Fizz, Leblanc
These will target the mid laner or your adc. However, be cautions and wait for their CD, or for a stun. Buy a pink ward for akali, talon. You can easily kill them, as long as you are careful.

Easy:

Graves, Singed, most ADC's, etc.
Most champions don't prove an issue for Evelynn. Make sure to purchase Rylai's for your team, Iceborn if your team has plenty of cc, or Triforce if you need speed as opposed to slows. Kill people who are overextending. As long as you don't have to babysit top lane because they keep fighting and dying, you can snowball mid and bot.

Janna, Nami
Don't commit to fights 100%. Back off if she ults.

If you need a detailed champion matchup, or I missed a champion, let me know by leaving a comment.

Basically, YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF YOUR RANGE. -> RANGE THEORY.

SKILL COMBINATIONS

Evelynn isn't a mechanically intensive champion, but why not improve your skills beyond pressing Hate Spike (Q)?

❧   [Lesson 1: Basics]   ☙

Hate Spike

Q + Q + Q + Q…

Is your keyboard broken yet?

Spell Weaving

Q + AA (+ Q + AA)…

An important trick to master. Hardest part is to resist the temptation of spamming Hate Spike (Q) and to wait for Sheen to go on cooldown every 1.5 seconds. Also, try not to cancel your autos.

By default, Spell Weaving is used after every combo below.

Basic Combo

E + Q + AA

The basic Evelynn combo. Use Dark Frenzy (W) afterwards, then follow up with Spell Weaving.

Full Combo

R + W + E + Q + AA

The full Evelynn combo. Follow up with Spell Weaving.

Blue Smite

Walk up → Q (+ Q)… → E + Q + Blue Smite + AA

Slow the enemy when they are in auto attack range to get more auto attacks off.

Blue Smite with Team Work

Blue Smite → (Teammate lands skill shot) → E + Q + AA

Easier than the previous, team work is great!

Red Smite

E + Red Smite + Q + AA

Use Ravage (E) first, then as it is casting, use red smite before the second half of E for maximum burn damage. Follow up with Spell Weaving.

Red Smite for Damage Reduction

Red Smite → (Enemy uses all their skills)

A predictive method to use Red Smite. Useful if Evelynn is flanking the enemy mid laner for a gank. Follow up with Basic Combo and Spell Weaving.

❧   [Lesson 2: Initiation and Poke]   ☙

Poke

Walk up → Q + Q + W + E

Keep pressing Q if they chase you. Generally it is not worth to give your position away.

Tiamat Poke

W + E + Q + Tiamat

Remember to use Tiamat as you are running away from the enemy.

Flank a Single Target

Walk up → then Blue Smite + Q + E + AA + W (+ Q + AA)…

Remember to use Red Smite as you cast Ravage (E), not before. Use Dark Frenzy (W) when the enemy runs away, not before.

Flank & Engage

From behind or the side → W + R + Q + E + Q + AA + Titanic Hydra + Q + AA

Remember to never force an engage if another teammate can do it better. Use the ultimate on as many people as possible, not necessarily on the target for your Ravage (E), unless you can kill them. We use Dark Frenzy (W) before Agony’s Embrace (R) to reset the cooldown on Dark Frenzy.

❧   [Lesson 3: Flashy Plays]   ☙

Flash Assassination

Flash → E + Q + AA

Useful for Level 3 tower dives. Bonus points for flashing over a wall to increase your range. Make sure to hold down the “Target Champions Only” button. Don’t forget to use Red Smite if you have it.

Semi-Predictable Flash Assassination

R → Flash → E + Q + AA

Nice if you need the extra damage. Predictable, use Flash Assassination against champions like Leblanc or Fizz.

IN-DEPTH Q&A ON SKILL COMBINATIONS

When should I poke an enemy champion?

Generally, let your teammates do that.

To poke an enemy champ while visible is to walk up to them and use the Poke combo. Do not attempt this if you do not have boots or at least 2 points in Dark Frenzy (W).

To poke while Evelynn is invisible, stay about 200 units from the enemy front line. Wait until one of their carries is separated from their team, or out-of-position (OOP). This distance can be as small as 400 units. Walk up to the carry until they are 100 units inside your circle. At this range, immediately: W + Q (as many times) + Hydra/Gunblade + E + AA + Walk away + Q + Q… Get out immediately after Ravage (E). You may bait your team into engaging, because they are idiots. Still, this may set up a kill for your team. Remember that most of the damage comes from Hydra and E, so it is highly unadvised to continue chasing as Evelynn's main sources of damage are on cooldown. The exceptions are a Trinity Force tank build or a Titanic Hydra tank build, but be careful with the Titanic build since the cooldown is 20 seconds and the attack speed steroid on E is only three seconds. An ideal situation would be to let the enemy walk toward you.  Walk toward them, poke then run away.

Explanation

An Area of Effect (AOE) team fight disruptor. Titanic Hydra combined with Iceborn Gauntlet causes massive sustained damage to a large group of enemies. Always flank the enemy backline, aiming to soak up damage with shields, running away when her real Health is used. If the enemy does not respond to Evelynn on their backline, proceed to kill them all. Make sure to line them up for Titanic Hydra and Hate Spike (Q) damage. Try preforming a mock engage to bait out skillshots and re-engage after their crowd control is used. Hitting as many enemies with Agony's Embrace (R) is high priority.

Weakness: Enemy sustained damage.

Explanation

Warrior gives the best stats staying relevant at all points of the game. Always auto attack, especially as a tank. Be sure to purchase Tier 2 boots immediately after completing Warrior, the damage is in the autos. If you want to duel Riven and win, use the modified Hextech Gunblade build.

Weakness: Few slows outside of Agony's Embrace (R) and Hextech Gunblade.

Explanation

A disruption tank catches the enemy team off guard, interrupting their engage or forcing an allied engage. If there is one thing that Evelynn is good at, it is forcing the enemy to fight a 4v5. With Rylai's they cannot retreat, and the splitpusher might teleport into the fight—but not before they have suffered heavy losses. The other thing Evelynn is good at is preventing an engage, or halting one in its tracks. Sivir might ult her team into yours but with your large AoE ult, you stop them from reaching your backline. This setup is optimal for a class of champions called divers, such as Riven, Xin Zhao, Olaf. Despite Evelynn not being a tank, she can survive engages long enough with her ultimate shield and perhaps Guardian Angel, providing constant slows for divers to AOE the enemy backline. Don't build this if your team lacks high damage and CC, going Assassin will make you more useful as you can pick off the enemy for free late game.

Weakness: Low damage. Useless.

Early Game
Important Timers

Reaching Level 6: 7:30 latest.
Finishing Jungle Item: 12:00 latest.

Ideally, Level 6 should be reached by 6:00, and Jungle Item finished by 8:00. Waiting for a good gank gives exp, but not gold.

In the early game, Evelynn should focus on snowballing the game to obtain an early lead. The best way to do this is to gank a lane, as this provides a solid lead in that lane allowing Evelynn to help other struggling lanes. If all 3 lanes are losing, Evelynn will most likely lose the game. Another option is to counter gank, but if it fails, she falls behind in levels and gold. Be sure to remember that the jungle item must be finished by 12:00, and that Level 6 should be reached by 7:30 the latest. Ideally, Level 6 by 6:00, and jungle item by 8:00.

When ganking make sure to let the laner trade first, as if it was an ordinary trade. Pop out of nowhere, surprising the enemy and often you will draw first blood. Ganks should occur as soon as Evelynn reaches Level 3. In the event that all lanes are winning, proceed to invade the enemy jungler hard or powerfarm till Level 6. Remember that if you can't gank a laner, gank the enemy jungler. Once Evelynn finishes the jungle item, she can solo the dragon with one additional pot at full health and mana. Thus if the enemy jungler decides to gank bottom lane, and the enemy teleports in from top, they cannot push for a dragon advantage. Enemies will not expect the Evelynn dragon solo, and it is more deceptive if the scuttle crab has been taken by the enemy, as Evelynn can pass it unseen.

Mid Game
Know your damage. Try to find isolated enemies, or places where the enemy WILL be. Stand at those interesctions to pick them off.

Tell your team to group as you position outside of the teamfight. Your role is to either initiate and soak up damage, flank the back line and try to assassinate a squishy, or to stay far away from a teamfight and help peel for the ADC. Generally going on the enemy carry is the recommended choice, since the enemies will focus Evelynn. This is good if you're a tank, bad if you're an assassin.

If you are a tank it is ideal to have enough damage to burst down a carry to around 50% hp. Being a tank with no damage allows the enemy team to ignore you. Buy a slowing item. In order of potency: Rylai's > Iceborn > Ranuin's Omen > Dead Man's Plate. Buying a slowing item is equal to peeling for your team, without one you might as well be fighting a 1v5. Also, get Captain Enchanted Boots!
Late Game
Evelynn scales extremely well late game. Don't let anyone tell you Eve is an early game champion.

Okay, first thing to do is ask yourself, am I the primary focus? Meaning are you a damage threat? If yes, purchase GA. If not, buy something like Thornmail and Sunfire Cape.

So now your GA is on cooldown. Ask yourself how tanky are you? If you are flimsy sell something for a Sterak's Gage.

Now the way to win late game is to flank the enemy team. You do this buy telling your support to ward the middle of the lane. Actually let's rewind back. I'll go over everything in entirety. There are THREE scenarios in a 5v5. First, the enemy is at your turret. Ideal situation. Second, you are doing a 5v5 mid, away from any turrets, most likely near an objective. Third, your team is pushed to the enemy turret. In the first scenario, the enemy instantly loses. Walk behind the enemy team, press R on as many people as possible, and maul their adc/AP carry until they or you die. Remember you have GA, so it doesn't matter if you die. What matters is that 3/5 enemies are focused on you, 100% on you. Your team is safe because they're under the turret, so stealth attackers are at a disadvantage. Dashers need to save one escape dash or die to the turret, trading 1 for 1. You revive and kill them all.

Secondly, you are contesting an objective or randomly 5v5ing mid. If you flank engage here, be sure you can take down at least one of the carries before dying. Otherwise, you are so tanky that you want all the focus on you so your Riven can Flash engage. With regards to objectives you need a sense of which team can deal more damage to baron or Elder Dragon faster. If you can do it fast, make sure you pink ward the pit, then let your dps whittle it down. Only do this if there is a low chance of stealing, and you don't take much damage from baron/Elder. Otherwise, it is much much much much better to let the enemy start it, then Press R on 5 people in the pit (pink ward or no) and then proceed to focus the carry while potentially smiting baron or elder dragon.

Third, you need a lot of armor and the knowledge that your team will very very likely win the teamfight. Flash over the base wall or walk in, then with your Guardian angel Active, press R on all the defenders, use E on the carry, use the Randuin's active to slow them all down for 4 seconds, and PAY ATTENTION, W into your team, whether you killed the carry or not. Do not dive any further. Do not risk GA, it will kill you if you spawn under the turret. Now you join your team in killing everyone else, or taking the turret. Remember, Turret + inhib > Kills.

In short, Evelynn can flank turrets. She can flank anything. Just buy a GA.

But wait, you're an AP Assassin Evelynn? Oh well that's entirely different. You need to have wards everywhere, keep the yellow trinket or just buy a sightstone. Look for assassinations where the enemy tries to join the rest of their team, say stand in mid lane near the enemy base while your team is contesting baron possibly, but IMPORTANTLY you noticed that there's someone missing (not seen) on the enemy team. Hmmm.... very high chance they backed to buy an item or restore HP. Stand there in the route they use to get to baron and kill them. Instantly. That's your free baron, or fight 5v4.

Does the enemy group too well? Well assuming they've pushed your team to the turret, you can split given that they have decent waveclear + not willing to dive. You should actually split before they get to your turret. AP Assassin eve pushes turrets fast, make sure to E a minion and Q every 1.5 seconds. you can get a free inhib if they ignore you for 20 seconds. If they start sending people, stealth away, and chances are they will divide themselves and sweep the area. If they are highly divided, find the most isolated one and kill them. If they are tight, or close-knit, they won't be able to track you, rejoin the rest of your team. Did I mention that the jungle must be warded? That's important.

Still can't find isolated enemies? Well sell boots and get a damned sightstone. Then harass your support in chat (jk). Seriously tho, boots aren't that important once you have movement speed from Lich Bane, Luden's Echo, Protobelt. If you disagree with me then you're playing Evelynn wrong, you need movement speed to get to places, in combat you have protobelt + W, so you should not be getting caught out if you are Eve because the enemy can't see you.

Actually sell Red Smite for Green Smite Runic Echos. Then sell your boots for Dead Man's Plate, Phantom Dancer, or 2 Pink Wards (if you're killing a stealth champion, like Vayne)

Range Theory

Range Theory is a method for finding the ideal playstyle for Evelynn. Evelynn has ranges. They are visibility, Hate Spike, and Mêlée, in order of decreasing range.

Hate Spike (500 Range)

I'll start off with Evelynn's Q range since it is the easiest and most straightforward of all the ranges to grasp. Evelynn players should be always spamming Q, if you are in range, it will auto cast. While the range of this spell may seem short, it is more than enough to accomplish the main goals of Eve, kite, poke, and chase. Kiting is the most important of the three, and I'll explain it below.

Kiting with Hate Spike and Rylai's.

As you all know, mêlée characters are mêlée. That means if they cannot reach their target they cannot do damage, and they will die. When Evelynn purchases Rylai's, she is interacting with the range of her enemies. Hate Spike on a 1.5 second cooldown should keep anyone within 400 range, assuming their Flash is down and they have no gap closer. Specific match-ups Evelynn wins include any champion with less than 300 range and no mobility. This includes Nasus, Mundo (to an extent), Rammus, Darius, Volibear, Alistair, Braum, Cho'gath, Leona, Poppy, Amumu, Nautilus (excluding walls), Shyvana (without ultimate), and Trundle (Only with Boots of Swiftness).

Mêlée Range, Ravage and Auto Attacking. (Ravage: 225, AA: 125)

This is the range that Evelynn wants to be in if she wants maximum damage from her kit. Ravage is a huge 1.0 AP, 1.0 AD spell that procs on-hit effects twice. This means that spell shields only block one hit, and sheen effects are applied only once. Ravage cannot crit despite the animations making it seem so. Going into mêlée range makes Evelynn the most vulnerable, but the idea is that the enemy is even more vulnerable. As such, Evelynn defeats most champions with more than 550 range. This includes Bard, Xerath, Vel'koz, Kog'maw, any ADC except Vayne and Kindred, Karthus, Zyra, Sona, Soraka, Ahri, Cassiopeia, Varus, Zilean, Ziggs, Aurelion Sol, Nidalee, Veigar, Lux, Azir, Vladimir, Mini Gnar and Mega Gnar (cause his skills are on CD). You get the point. These champions want to sit back and poke, go ahead and force a fight.

Visibility Range (700 Range)

The visible range is the range in which Evelynn is forced to adapt to a specific range, Mêlée: (0-225), Hate Spike (500), and Threatened (500-700). Of the three, Threatened is the most useless at first glance, it's rather like a buffer zone before Evelynn can do anything. Smite has 500 range, but is slightly larger,  this is due to the edge to edge hotboxes of Smite. Since Evelynn is rather small, it only increases her poke range, or Hate Spike range, by about 40.

So we still have an effective damage range of (0-540), if we purchase Chilling Smite. The problem is that we still have a useless buffer zone on Evelynn that seems absolutely useless unless her ultimate is up. How do we apply this zone? Simple: mind games. The best way to defend a turret that is pushing in when Evelynn is at low Health is to show them your presence, say you accidentally slipped a glimpse of yourself. The effects are immediate: the enemy starts walking back. Or for example, you can't really gank top lane, but you've walked there anyways. Give them a good scare, "Evelynn is watching" type of creepiness, and walk away. They'll be afraid of pushing since you might be there, and they'll ping Evelynn missing, and maybe their midlaner will stop pushing. Don't be afraid to reveal yourself. Use the 500-700 threatening range for mind games.

However the most important aspect of this range is the ability to stay stealthed. We're talking about enemies that Evelynn has no chance of killing except by sheer positioning which I'll separate into two groups. The first will be The Enemy Walks In. The second will be Teamwork. Both use ranges above 700, aka stealthed range.

The Enemy Walks In

The most beautiful ganks on the hardest enemies are simply to stay stealthed and let your laners fight. The enemy has a disengage spell, say Ezreal, that he uses to fall back. But Voilà, you're already there so you E + Q and Ezreal dies. We can repeat this with a multitude of champions, and many of these enemy champions have ranges between 300 and 700. This includes Talon (pink), Fizz, LeBlanc (Step on pad), Corki, Yasuo (minion wave behind), Wukong, Rek'sai, Aatrox, Ekko, Kha'zix, Vi, Tryndemere, and Zed. Much of the reason why Evelynn will be so successful is because you're cutting off their escape routes, and their skills are on cooldown. However, many champions are still missing, so the next section contains the hardest champions.

Teamwork

These enemies are ungankable except through good teamwork or lots of luck involving a few Flashes. Many of the champions here are unafraid of Evelynn, and will one shot her if she even walks near. These champions have over 500 range, and do not play games. Once Evelynn is visible for more than a second, she'd better commit. A good example is Heimerdinger. Ganking a Heimerdinger  lane involves walking up to his turrets, and perhaps killing a few of them before you try to kill him. It mostly involves a great deal of making him mis-poisition, and profiting off that.

Opening Theory

Evelynn has the best openings, but the early choose is hard to pull off.

Smite:
Smite Krugs -> Red -> Raptors
Smite Krugs -> Raptors -> Red  (healthier, enemy may invade)

Smite Gromp -> Blue -> Red (safest)
Smite Gromp -> Wolves -> Raptors -> Red

Smiteless:

Inside the enemy Jungle:
Scenario Start) Start enemy Raptors and use 1 pot without smite.
Reverse this senario by starting wolves and killing them at blue.
However, the blue side has a lower success rate due to lack of slow on the blue buff.

You are discovered before you finish the camp [VERY Unlikely]
A) You run away. You failed to clear the camp, you lose time + 1 pot. Go to your Blue buff ASAP. (Adv: -0.50)
A1)You clear blue sucessfully. (Adv: -0.50)
A11) You clear wolves and red sucessfully. (Adv: 0.00)
B) You clear the camp and run away. Small advantage for taking the enemy camp. (+ 0.10 adv)
A1)You clear blue sucessfully. (0.00 adv)
A2)You clear wolves sucessfully. Enemy will likely invade and clear your blue. (-0.75 adv)

You are not discovered. [Likely]
C) You clear the camp and gain + 1 level while retaining smite.

The enemy jungler starts red. He has trouble clearing. [Likely]
C1) You kill the enemy jungler, and smite his red buff, chasing him until you both burn flash. (Adv: +2.00)

You are chased by enemy laners, allies follow. [Unlikely, your teammates are bad.]
C1A) You win the fight. Each kill is +1, each death is -1. (Adv: +???)
C1B) You lose the fight. Enemy laners are fed, allies die. Each death is -1. If all the kills are cocentrated into one enemy laner, you may lose. (Adv: -???)
C1C) Noone dies. You thank your allies. (Adv +2.0)

You are chased by enemy laners, allies do not follow. [Likely]
C1D) You escape. You most likely have to recall. (Adv: +1.0)
C1E) You escape. You do not have to recall. (Adv: +2.0)
C1E1) You take another camp for level 3. (Adv: +2.5)
      C1F) You die. (Adv: + 0.5)

C2) You do not kill the enemy jungler, but smite his red buff. (Adv: + 1.0)

Part 2 of the Opening, assuming success
Senario Start) You decide to invade their blue buff. You are level 3. The enemy jungler is dead.

You arrive on time.
IIA) You kill the enemy and take their blue. (Adv: +3.0)
IIA1) You take their camps. (Adv. +10.0)
Hint: You must gank to maintain the lead.
Hint: watch the scuttle crabs, you may be able to kill them again. Better yet just clear the scuttles before they do.
IIB) You don't kill the enemy and take their blue. (Adv: + 3.0)
IIB1) You take their camps. (Adv. +7.0)
Hint: watch the scuttle crabs, you may be able to kill them again. Better yet just clear the scuttles before they do.
IIB2) You don't take their camps. (Adv. +3.0)
IIC) The enemy kills you, because laners were missing. (Adv. -3.0)
Advice: You are very bad at this game, watch the enemy laners. Now you lose blue buff.
Advice 2. Please type in chat: I will invade their blue. Don't let them leave lane.

You don't arrive on time.
IID) You still kill them. (Adv. +3.0)
IID1) You take their camps. (Adv. +7.0)
Hint: watch the scuttle crabs, you may be able to kill them again. Better yet just clear the scuttles before they do.
IIE) You didn't kill them. (Adv. +0.5)
IIE1) You take their camps. (Adv. +7.0)
IIE2) You can't take their camps. (Adv. +1.0)
IIE3) You die. Now they will take your red buff. (Adv: -1.0)

Senario start) You decide to gank.
IIF) You kill the enemy. (Adv: +5.0)
IIG) Laner kills the enemy. YOU ARE SNOWBALLING. (Adv: +10.0)
IIH) Noone dies, flash is burnt (Adv: +2.0)
IIJ) Noone dies. (Adv: 1.0)
IIK) Someone dies. (Adv: 0.0)

Senario Start) You farm up your jungle.
IIL) You are ahead in gold and kills. (Adv: +3.0)
IIL1) Your laner dies to a gank. (Adv: 1.0)
Hint: Gank ASAP, especially the lane that just lost.
