Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png   Need it.  Great for closing gaps or escaping.

14.png  A good choice for trading and securing kills.

21.png  A good choice for protection against bursts or things like Zed and Yas ults.

3.png  Helps chasing and securing kills as well as gank protection for escaping.

Masteries Back to Top

This is more of an AP bruiser build.  If you're going for an AP assassin type build you should go for a 12/18/0 setup with Thunderlord's, but these masteries seem to balance her out very nicely.  Here are my reasons, if you care:

Wanderer - Works very well with her passive.  Move faster while being invisible.  Yea.

Biscuits -  Assassin is a good choice, not gunna lie, but I prefer biscuits for the sustain.  Assassin isn't as useful late game when you face mostly team fights and she is a little squishy early game.

Meditation - Eve's Hate Spikes are probably the most spammable ability in the game and thus you need the mana regen.  I believe she has enough consistent damage to warrant bypassing Merciless.

Dangerous Game - Just helps with sustain.  Useful.

Unyielding - As I mentioned in the runes section, resistances are very useful on her since she is not naturally tanky.

Tough Skin - Just another form of a resistance.

Veteran's Scars - Extra health, it's a good thing.

Perseverance - Survivability.  The squiggly red line tells me this isn't a word, but it should be.

Legendary Guardian - More resistances and survivability in team fights.  Notice a theme here?

Strength of the Ages - Now this one may seem weird, but as I've mentioned before, she isn't naturally tanky so being able to stack health during the laning phase is very useful, especially considering the amount of armor and MR you have from your runes and masteries.  Especially useful when jungling.

Ok, so here's the deal:

Q - Hate Spike

evelynnQ.png   Eve's signature ability.  As I said, with a 1.5s initial cooldown and low mana cost it is very spamable.  The trick is to know when to spam it.  It targets a single enemy but will damage all enemies in it's path.  This makes it very nice for waveclearing, but try not to waste too much mana on minions, at least early game.  What's tricky about this ability is that it targets randomly but will prioritize what you are currently attacking.  This means you need to initialize an auto-attack in order to guarantee it hits who you want.  Realistically you should start spamming it when 1. you are in range of your target and 2. you are ready to follow up and engage.

Another thing to consider is that it's range is lager than a melee auto-attack range which allows for kiting.  This is a tactic you should use when clearing jungle camps as well as keeping your distance from melee champs.  Getting chased?  Spam Q.  Chasing someone?  Spam Q.  This is especially effective when you finish 3116.png since it will proc the slow, allowing you to escape easier or catch up.  Take the time to get used to it's range.

W - Dark Frenzy
evelynnW.png  A very useful tool in Eve's kit.  Removes slows AND gives a speed boost.  Helps you escape a tough situation or catch up to a fleeing enemy.  On top of all of this, every ability you land reduces the cooldown and kills and assists reset it altogether.  This means you can get in, secure a kill, and get out pretty quickly.  Pretty simple otherwise.

E - Ravage
evelynnE.png  Eve's highest damaging ability.  Scales with both AP and AD in case you want to go for a tanky AD type build.  It's basically just 2 fast auto attacks, but they have a greater range than regular autos and do much more damage.  And as an added bonus this procs on hit effects which means 3116.png 3025.png and 3146.png all work with it.  This is another ability you need to get used to the range of.  As I said it's range is slightly greater than an auto which means if played right you can get an E off without taking melee damage from an enemy.

R - Agony's Embrace
evelynnR.png   And this is the ult.  A no-delay, AOE, damaging slow.  In addition to this, Evelynn gets a shielded for each champion hit.  Ideally you want to use her ult to engage but you can also use it as a general slow for enemies trying to run away.  Definitely make sure to use this before engage in a team fight as the more targets hit, the more shield you get.  Pretty straight forward otherwise.

Aaaand the Passive - Shadow Walk
evelynnpassive.png   Probably what Evelynn is known for the most, her passive.  After a short time away from enemy champions, she becomes invisible.  While your passive is active, you also gain a 2% mana regen increase and can walk through minions.  When you are stealthed you will see a ring around yourself.  If an enemy champion is inside that ring they will be able to see you, but your passive will remain intact.  Only attacking or activating an ability will stop it.  Now obviously this ability is more useful when jungling, but you can still use it to your advantage in lane:

OOM?  Just step away from the enemy for a bit to reactivate Shadow Walk and start regenning faster.

Also use it to help gank other lanes or hide yourself on the outskirts of your lane and catch the enemy off guard under your turret.

Keep in mind enemy champions will get a yellow exclamation mark over their heads when you are close but only when it is red can they actually see you.  K.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    My normal start
    Balanced start
    Safer option for AD assassins
Another safe start against other mages or if you want to rush Ryali's

Core Items

Rush if getting harassed by an AP mid
Your main item. Finish this as soon as you can.
Rush if getting harassed by an AD assassin. Otherwise get after boots
Because of her W I usually find Tabi more useful but depends on the other team
    At least one of these
    At least one of these
    Damage and sustain. Very nice.
    Final MR Build
    Balanced Final Build
    Final Armor Build

Situational Items

Good for mana and health but still need Rylai's for the slow
Another good MR item. Spirit Visage has cooldown which I think is important but could use in place of Abyssal or Hextech if you want to be more tanky
Good for a more AP assassin type build but I think the tankier items suit her better
Good choice for a more offensive build, again I just think the tank items work better.
Get that bitch a charm. Bitches love charms.
Now let me explain.

3116.png   AP and health.  Exactly what Eve needs.  The biggest selling point though is the passive - your abilities slow the target.  That means spamming your evelynnQ.png will constantly slow and help you stick to your target.  That or slow them so you can get away.  It's perfect for her.

1316.png1321.png  Boots.  Gotta go fast.  Tabi for heavy ad and protection from inevitable auto attacks.  Merc Treads for heavy CC.

3025.png  Armor, mana, and cooldown reduction.  More things perfect for Evelynn.  What else is it good for?  Sheen.  You will be spamming Q and auto attacking all of your targets which in turn will proc the extra damage from sheen.  It almost works too well.

3068.png3742.png3143.png  Sunfire to deal with auto/melee threats.  Usually good since Eve needs to be in melee range to do most of her damage anyway.  Dead Mans lets you hit heavier with some mobility.  Randuins for ADCs and crit reliant AD champs.

3065.png  Cooldown reduction is very nice.  Mainly MR, health, and additional healing from Gunblade.

3001.png  Very good for the psudo magic penetration.  Helps you deal more damage but no additional health.  It's a trade off.

3146.png  Eve deals a good amount of AP and AD damage.  This will heal her from both.  Spam Q for constant spell vamp.  On top of that the point and click active slows, allowing you to catch up to anyone who tries to run.  I usually build this as my 5th or 6th item but you can build it 3rd or 4th if you are snowballing.

Aurelion Sol

Medium

It can be tough to get inside his orbit but if you can you can hurt him.  Dodge his aurelionsolQ.png and try and close in between his stars.  Be extra careful post lvl 6 because he can ult you away and deal a lot of damage.  Once you finish a few items you should be able to jump on him pretty easily.  Try and play safe until then.

Do your best to dodge his shurikens and shadows.  Engage after he uses his abilities.  Spam Q for some quick damage.

Why Evelynn Mid? Back to Top

Personally I just think she's fun.  Her kit is very unique and useful for various situations.  Mixed damage makes her harder to defend against.  Mainly, she can be very punishing against the ever prominent AD assassins or skillshot based mages in the mid lane - if played right that is.  Another plus is that, especially with this AP bruiser build, she can be very viable in team fights late game where most mid-laners have a harder time since they tend to be on the squishy side.
