Flash is a Summoner Spell that was and will always be used trough out the entire existence of League, unless it will get gutted down.
The ability to jump a small distance is so good, that even Ezreal a Champion who already has a Build in Flash takes it. It allows you to make more risky plays, as you can always use it to get in or out of sticky situations. Unless Riot will change Flash, it should always be one of you Summoners.

Being the most reliant DPS source of your Team, surviving is a major part of your Gameplay.
Staying alive over a longer period of time will increase the successful outcome of any fights.
Heal is a Summoner Spell, which allows you to be more reliant in such.
The burst Heal is great to prevent yourself from dying and staying a live longer.
On top of it, Heal can be used on Team-Members and provides a small movementspeed buff to get out of range of certain dangerzones.

Its all about Kleptomancy!


Probably the most broken masterie in the game right now, it is so strong on champions who can trigger it consistently such as Gangplank, or Ezreal.

The consumables you can get are just great. Mana/Health Pots and Biskuits bring insane sustain and keep you in Lane long enough to gain an advantage.
Combat Elexirs will strengthen you in power, to deal more damage.
And probably the most broken Consumable is to gain a free Ability Level Up.
Combining this with free Wards/Trinkets just to top it off makes you an nearly unbeatable lane opponent.

The Secondary Runes support your sustain again and also make you hit your Powerspikes much faster thanks to Futures Market.

  • Going 18 Points into Ferocity, as Ezreal really wants the Fervor of Battle Keystone.
    It is the best Keystonemasterie for most ADCs and it is especially good on Ezreal, as it works with Mystic Shot.



  • Remaining 12 Points into Cunning, as it provides the best utility for all ADCs, including Ezreal.

Ability Explanation

Rising Spell Force:

Rising Spell Force is a pretty strong Attack-Speed Steroid, it can go up to 50%, making it one of the best self buffs in the game. It helps Blue Ezreal quite a lot, as Blue Ezreal tends not to buy any Attackspeed early in the game.

Maintain this passive by using your abilities at the right time is key on Ezreal, to make use of this passive effectively.

In between ability-casts you have enough time to sneak in an extra Autoattack or two, resulting in more overall damage, this is especially usefull in close combat and when kiting. 

Also Rising Spell Force has different usages.
One of them is checking brushes, or areas where you don't have vision.
Shooting one of your abilities inside the brush or the fog of war, where you expect your opponents to be, is a key strategy on Ezreal. If you gained a stack of Rising Spell Force, it tells you that someone is inside.

Mystic Shot:

Your main ability and pretty much the reason why the Blue Build exists.
It has a good AD-Ratio, it has a low cooldown, which gets even lower when you hit it (the cooldown of all your abilities gets reduced by one second if you hit it).

But the most unique thing about this spell is:


It procs pretty much all on-hit-effects!


The exception being, it cant crit. However we aren't building any crit, so not a big draw back. 

Pretty much all the items we build are involved to support this ability. Lifesteal, Sheen, Muramana everything is great for Mystic Shot.

Mystic Shot is treated as a bonus long range Autoattack, attacking continuously and casting Mystic Shot in between Autoattack is the most common usage.
It makes Ezreal one of the safer  ADC as it has a really long range.

Essence Flux:

Back in the day this Ability was never considered worth putting one point in it.
Even now people still debate, if it is good to put one point in it or not. My recommendation is, puttin in a Point into Essence Flux at level 4 is really good as an utility tool and early game harassment.

The attack speed buff is good for taking down Turrets, Dragons and Barons quicker as a Team.
Not only for this sole reason, but it also helps keeping your Passive stacked up while there are no target to hit with your Mystic Shot.

Early on, around the levels 4-6, you can still use it as a harassment tool. The Manacosts are mediocre and the base damage is good, using Mystic Shot and following it up with an Essence Flux is great for early pressure.

One of the most unique ways to use Essence Flux is, to Arcane Shit into it.
You gain +20% Attackspeed from it making you attack faster and therefor taking objectives down quicker.
Even if it is used really rarely, this trick is great for an all in combo as it can surprise people off guard.

Arcane Shift:

Pretty much the best Ability to escape, reposition or simply kite.
The only down side is, that it has a fairly long Cooldown early on.
With enough CDR and putting multiple points into it, Arcane Shift should be back up after landing one, or two Mystic Shots, making Ezreal one of the hardest ADCs to chase.
Its even better then Flash, because it has a higher range and it even denies the "all mighty Blitzcrank Hook".

Arcane Shift primarily will be used defensively, but it can be used for All-Ins as well.
Don't underestimate its damage, especially in the early levels.

Trueshot Barrage: 

Trueshot Barrage is a really important part of your kit and it should be your main priority to land a good ultimate in a teamfight. Landing a devastating ult in a teamfight can solely decide if your team wins the fight, or not.

Your teams position, your opponents team position and your Teams mass CC, these are the important factors to land a good Ezreal Ult.

If you are new to Ezreal and you feel uncomfortable in landing a good ult, I can give you the advice that shooting your ult slightly before a fight breaks out, is pretty good as well. You deal some damage to your opponents team frontline and you usually gain 5 Stacks of your passive right at the bat.

Dorans Blade

In season 6 Dorans Blade got buffed, due to the big Marksman Update.
Right now it proves to be the best starting Item for every ADC, including Ezreal.

  • Bonus HP will make you tanky.
  • Will make last hitting easier.
  • Getting some sustain with the 3% Lifesteal.

Cull + Tear

  • Those two Items make Ezreal the midgame monster that he is right now.
    Tear is needed, as it will greatly reduce Ezreals manacosts and guarantees the usage of Mystic Shot at all times. Stacking it up for Manamune is the the second reason we want to get Tear ASAP.
    Once we bought Tear, we will just leave it and continue to build Iceborn and let the Tear stack itself up naturally. Until we got our Iceborn finished, Tear should be at around 500-600 Stacks increasing the cost efficiency of upgrading it to Manamune much more, as we get more AD from it.
    Cull helps in this regards, as it pushes the gap in farming towards Iceborn, while we are sitting on our Tear.
    It provides more gold income, sustain and some damage.
    If the passive procs, we should be able to finish our Iceborn and start working towards our Manamune.
    Our core build is relatively cheap and Cull makes it much smoother, to get these Items faster and secure these Items early. 
    Cull also helps surviving the early scaling phase of Ezreal, in lane, with the bonus sustain it provides, plus some damage (much like the second Dorans Blade did, pre Culls exsitance).
    All of this combined helps Ezreal to get into the Midgame much smoother where he shines the most.

In season 7 much has changed, Iceborn has been nerfed, due to tanks abusing it. CDR added to Triforce makes it the best Item for Ezreal, in the game right now. Combining Triforce with Manamune damage spike, on top of Manamune evolving into Muramana, gives him a really good transition into the midgame.

  • T get more Cooldown Reduction so that  Mystic Shot can be spammed. Although your other Abilities will come up sooner.
  • It is necessary to hit the 40%/45% CDR.

  • Attack Damage increase.
  • Infinite Mana.
  • If fully Stacked a massive Damage increase (if it is activated). 

    For Blue Ezreal this is one of the Key items through out the entire game. Not only provides Manamune infinite Mana, but once its evolves into Muramana, it adds  a lot of damage to Ezreals Mid-Game Damagespike.

  • Cooldown Reduction.
  • Sheen- Effect to increase the Damage of Mystic Shot.
  • Mana increase.
  • Good for dueling cause of Sheen + Attackspeed/AD

  • Best Statincrease overall

  • Attack Damage increase.
  • Armor Penetration will help to kill Targets with a lot of Armor (over 150 Armor).

    This is really important to keep our damage up when our opponents starts stacking armor, if you want to continuously deal damage against your opponent, you have to build this item.

  • Synergies really good with Mystic Shot 
  • Active is great self-peel-tool.
  • Attackspeed makes you able to duel much better.
  • Shreds health stacking Tanks

  • More  HP.
  • Increases Magic Resist .
  • Passive will help against Initiations.

  • Armor and Damage increase.
  • Buy it if you get focused in Teamfights or are a priority target for your opponents.

  • Attack Damage increase.
  • Lifesteal Increase
  • Cleanse is sometimes necessary to stop or negate the damage of certain champions, if this is the case Mercurial Scimitar is the choice to go.

How to play against 22_64.png :

  • Use Arcane Shift to dodge her Ultimate.
  • Keep her in distance and poke her with your Mystic Shots.

  • This match up is in your favor because you poke her with mystic shot from far away, where Ashe only has her Volley, which has a much higher cooldown early on as well as its the only ability of her to answer these kind of long range trades. While her Volly is on Cooldown freely try to trade with her, only possible pre 6, then her Ult is a major factor in this lane match up, which you can easily dodge with your Arcane Shift.

How to play against 51_64.png :

  • Her Auto Attack-Range is much higher than Ezreal's, she will Auto Attack you whenever she can, get Sustain against this poke with an early 1053_32.png or 2x1055_32.png and a lot of Health Pots 2003_32.png.
  • Use 21.png7.png to counter her Ultimate (2037_32.png also works well against her Ultimate).
  • Try to farm as much as possible with Mystic Shot to avoid her poke, however do not forget that you got Auto Attacks to Last Hit as well.

    After you manage to sustain trough her early game poke, you will start to get to her level ,in terms of damage and lane dominance, you should be able to fight her sooner or later and win straight 1 vs 1's or 2 vs 2's , but if she starts getting Attackspeed shy away from 1 vs 1 fights and group with your team or pair up with your support.

How to play against 42_64.png :
This is a skill based Matchup however here are the Tips to play against him.

  • He can't poke you from far unless he hits level 6 so use the early game to force him out of his Lane.
  • Going close range against him is pain ,his Auto Attacks are really strong and his Q will do insane Damage early on, poke him with Mystic Shots if you got the opportunity.
  • If you see him low on mana then that's a free engage on him, even better if you have a support like 89_64.png.

How to play against 119_64.png DRAAAAAAAAAAVEN :

  • His Auto Attacks will destroy you dont trade with Auto Attacks!
  • An early 3025_32.png will help immensely because its hard for him to catch his Axes if he is perma slowed.
  • Aim your Skillshot at the places where Dravens Axes will land so you definitely hit him.
  • Farm with Mystic Shot and get an early 3070_32.png.
  • Use Arcane Shift to dodge his Ultimate.
  • Be aware of his Burst.

    To gain advantages against draven you have to get out of the laning asap, its okay if they take your turret, but don't give him kills , due to his passive he makes a lot of money which increases his snowball potential a lot. Take your time against him, his early is really strong but later on when you get items you can outplay him easily, he is pretty immobile , even if he got his W speedburst its okay to kite him, because Gauntlet 3025_32.png will take care of this.
    This also makes him vulnerable to get caught of guard.

How to play against 104_64.png :

  • Use Arcane Shift to dodge his Ultimate.
  • Go out of his Smokescreen as soon as possible, because you
    can't see anything = probably most Skillshots wont hit.
  • You can farm safely with Auto Attacks and Mystic Shot, but be aware of his Q.
  • Poke him before he gets sustain with his 1053_32.png or second 1075_32.png so he needs to backoff, if he got sustain focus on pushing and farming, at this moment he is pretty hard to kill but so you are,  CC him down you both are vulnerable to cc if you dont got CC ask for ganks to get ahead.

How to play against 222_64.png:

  • Use Arcane Shift to dodge her Ultimate and her "Zapp!".
  • Don't Stand near your Minions her Rocket-launcher does heavy AoE Damage.
  • Keep her at a distance she can only trade with her "Zapp!" and her Ultimate if you are to far away and both of them are easy to dodge.

    When she gets a kill or a building she gets a burst of speed, it is important to immediately hit a Gauntlet Mystic Shot, to slow her, so she wont get in range for Autos and continues to snowball the fight in the opponents team favor.

  • Kennens strengths are his Auto Attacks and his CC, well just keep him at
    distance you outrange him easily.
  • If he uses his Lightning Rush simply Arcane Shift away, same with his Ultimate.
  • If he got the Opportunity to engage with his Ultimate negate his CC with 1.png and disengage.
Against Kennen it may be worth to take some more MR Glyphs or even the entire Glyphs to be full MR.

How to play against 96_64.png:

  • His only Survivability is his E or his Summoners (6.png4.png) he doesn't get any dashes, jumps etc. so you can easily hit Skillshots.
  • He just can trade with his long range Auto Attacks and his Ultimate, he only can  hit those if he doesn't get interrupted by stuns or slowed, just get 3025_32.png
    and its basically impossible to receive much damage from him.
  • Juke his Passive with Arcane Shift.
  • When you Ignite-Kill (14.png) him he most the time will be so far away that he can't make use of his Passive.

    It should be easy for your team to pick him, he has a lot of range and lategame he is definitely stronger then you, but kiting him should be easy, or at least should follow into a pick on him, he really has no movement speed abilities other then flash, abuse this.

How to play against 236_64.png :

  • Don't stand  BEHIND your Minions, he can easily hit Q's on you if you are behind them. 
  • If he casts his Ultimate use your Arcane Shift to reposition yourself, once you changed your Position most of the Bullets won't hit you.
  • Trade him from far away, his only long ranged poke is his Q and W-Spell. And your Mysticshot deals more damage and has a lower Cooldown.

    Later on you cant really 1 vs 1 him, because you should stay away from his Autoattackrange, because after he gets some passive hits on you he starts to dash like crazy on you and spams his abilities.
    He is less useful in teamfights then you are, so just try to poke their team low and then freely engage on them,
    of course this relies on having a good teamcomp, but even with a weaker team you already put a lot of pressure against your opponents, which could result into a 4 vs 5.

How to play against 21_64.png :

  • Do not stand near by Minions so her Q cant hit you.
  • Her passiv will help immensely to dodge your Skillshots, however if you hit a single Mystic Shot her passive doesn't work anymore, thats the time for more Mystic Shots this will work great if you got 3025_32.png.
  • Do not trade with her, she most the time will win trades keep poking her with Mystic Shots.
She stomps in lane, but you can farm and poke easily after getting double Dorans and Tear/Manamune. In terms of Teamfights you both offer the same damage, but Ezreal is harder to catch, because he is so mobile, while on the other hand MF is as slow as a stone, try to pick her off guard, which is pretty easy with gauntlet and some follow up CC.

How to play against 133_64.png :

  • You can counter her blind by simply using Mystic Shots or your Ultimate, then the blind will already end.
  • Her E will follow your Arcane Shift so if she E's you, jump with Arcane Shift under the tower to completely surprise her.
  • Get 3025_32.png to counter her chase potential in her Bird-From.
  • Get 14.png if you are sure you can kill her in lane or you got an agressive Support
    (89_64.png44_64.png) if not take 7.png.
You cant really win a strict 1 vs 1 against Quinn, because Quinn is designed to kill Autoattack based Champions, but she has so poor laning and Teamfight potential, you outscale her easily.

How to play against 15_64.png :

  • Siviris Spellshield is the Problem in this Matchup it will soak up one Ability most the time its you Q or Ultimate, you can bait the shield with you Support but most likely it will end up being a bad trade, due to the fact you waste 1 Ability on her shield.
  • Her ultimate and her passiv are great chasing tools, get 3025_32.png to counter this.
  • Dodge her Boomerang-blade with Arcane Shift.
Nothing much to say you outrange her easily and after getting Iceborn you can kite her even while her ult is active.

How to play against 18_64.png :

  • If the opponents 18_64.png runs 14.png definitely use 21.png or 1.png to counter this insane Dot.
  • You can't really counter her, ask in Champion Select if your Support could be something aggressive like 89_64.png.
  • Always burst her down so she needs to go back, push the tower and go for drakes .
  • Her Attack Range will grow depending what level she currently is, so fighting her early on is important!
What i can tell so far is, that there is rarely counter play against this match up.
You don't want to get bursted down by her, a lot of people don't think she has a lot of burst, but if she all ins with:
Rocket Jump, Ult and E, followed by 2-3 Autos you are pretty much dead.
Avoid getting hit by her Rocket Jump and make her use it defensively.
You outrange her with mystic shot, so there is no need to trade with autos unless she comes close. In lane she pretty much can only trade favourably with her E and ususally you are out of range of her E, if you only trade with Mystic Shot. 

Later on she outscales, but your Early and especially your Mid-Game is better then hers.

How to play against 29_64.png :

  • If you don't know where 29_64.png is because he is invisible, simply use some skillshots, if your passive procs you know where he is.
  • Ask your Support to get 2043_32.png or  3364_32.png so you will see twitch even if he used his stealth.
  • Trading against Twitch is pretty hard as Ezreal, i consider not trading against him. But an all in Combo works great against Twitch.

  • Ignite now gives Vision against Stealth targets.
This match up is pretty simple:
Lane as usual. He cant touch you if you farm from with Q and Autos. If he trys to sneak up just Arcane Shift away, your Arcane Shift should always be up if he tries to kill you this way, when he has Cutless its harder to get away but Arcane Shift should still be enough. After he blows everything on you, turn around and blow him up! Your ult combined with some help of your supp should be enough to kill him.

     14.png4.png (Normally let your Support take Ignite against Twitch, if want to go for a        burst combo go for Ignite and let your Support take Exhaust).

  • Use Arcane Shift to dodge his Ultimate.
  • Do not trade with Auto Attacks early because his W will hurt.
  • Avoid that you get hit by his Qs or his Es if you got 3 of his W Stacks.
  • Use cleanse immediately if he hits his Ultimate.

How to play against 67_64.png :

  • She will try to dodge your Misticshots with her Q, get a 3025_32.png to be sure that you land most of your Mystic Shots.
  • Try to poke and zone her with you Support as much as possible so she wont get farm and exp.
  • Ignite now gives Vision against Stealth targets , ABUSE TO KILL AND SNOWBALL!
Poke, Pick Ignite in lane and Poke! She has no counterplay against this and every time you hit your Q it feels like 25% of her Health is gone. She obviously outscales later on, but i would say this is one of the easier match ups for Ezreal.
