Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png and 11.png I recommend taking Flash because it will allow you to instantly escape when near enemies. It can also be used offensively or defensively. Flash is always a consistent Summoner compared to Ignite and Ghost. Smite must be taken when you're playing Jungle.

14.png and 11.png Ignite is good as it can deal extra damage when fighting. This Summoner gives you a lot of power when fighting enemies in their jungle. Ignite is good if you’re playing versus squishy enemy junglers. If you take ignite, you need to get ahead and put the enemy jungler behind early. Smite must be taken when you're playing Jungle.

6.png and 11.png Ghost is good when chasing enemy champions, like Flash- it can help you get to enemies quicker. However, ghost takes time to build up the peak movement speed. This can be good and bad, I recommend taking Flash instead of Ghost. Ghost is viable. Smite must be taken when you're playing Jungle.

I personally prefer taking Flash and Smite because Flash is a more popular and by far the most reliable of the three.

New Runes Back to Top

For Ezreal I recommend Precision as the main Rune tree.

Press%20the%20Attack.png?width=32 You should take Press the Attack. This rune is good because Ezreal can easily auto attack and proc this Rune. Triumph.png?width=32 Triumph is good for sustain throughout the game.

Legend%20Alacrity.png?width=32 Legend Alacrity is next. Ezreal’s main source of damage is through auto attacks and if you can get free attack speed- then this will be good for him.

Coup%20De%20Grace.png?width=32 Lastly we will take Coup de Grace for extra damage.

In the second tree I recommend Sorcery and taking Celerity.png?width=32 celerity as well as Gathering%20Storm.png?width=32 Gathering storm. These two Runes are good on Ezreal as they allow him to deal extra damage to enemies.

Ezreal’s Passive is Rising Spell Force

Ezreal gains bonus attack speed for 6 seconds everytime he hits one of his abilities. This can stack up to 5 times and maxing out at 70%

Screenshot_1.png

Ezreal’s Q is Mystic Shot

Ezreal fires a bolt of energy in a direction dealing damage to the first enemy hit. If mystic shot hits an enemy all of his Abilities cooldown is refreshed by 1.5 Seconds.

Tip: Whenever your jungle camp is about to spawn use your Q straight away. This will allow your second Q to be up quicker, and overall improve your kiting ability. When the camp is almost died, prepare to leave agro and finish them off with your Q.

Screenshot_2.png

Ezreal’s W is Essence Flux

Ezreal fires a wave of energy dealing magic damage. Any allies hit by this will gain added attack speed.

Tip: If you can time your W E correctly, you will be able to increase your attack speed. I do not recommend taking W 3rd, instead take it 4th. This is because your Q is much stronger than your W, and your W deals little to no damage. Level 2 Q is better compared to level 1 W.

Screenshot_3.png

Ezreal’s E is Arcane Shift

Ezreal jumps to a target location, attacking the nearest enemy when landed.

Tip: Take your E second. Use the clips provided below on how to use it more efficiently. You can use your E offensively or defensively. Your E can be used to go over walls or decrease/increase the distance between enemy champions as well.

Screenshot_4.png

Ezreal’s Ultimate is Trueshot Barrage

Ezreal fires an energy projectile to a target direction dealing magic damage to all enemies that it passes through.

Tip: Your Ultimate is on a rather short cooldown and can be used globally. You have the option to spam your ultimate across the map to either secure kills or help gank. When ganking, I recommend using your ultimate first- this is because your ultimate has a 1 second period before it fires off.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

I recommend taking this every game, Machete is for more AD/ Auto attack based junglers which Ezreal is.
If you do not want refillable, you can purchase pots instead.

Core Items

On your first back you want to upgrade your starting item to either one of the three
Your first core item will be your jungle item. I recommend always going for Warrior Enchantment as it gives bonus Attack damage. Ezreal is a more utility based champion compared to an auto attack one.
There are lots of different boots you can pick on Ezreal. This should be your 2nd major item. I will list below when you should take each type of sneakers.
After you have got your Boots and your Jungle item upgraded, you want to start to build Trinity Force. I would Recommend getting Sheen first, followed by Phage and Stinger as that is the order of which benefits Ezreal more.
Your 4th item will be Blade of the Ruined King. This item will allow you to get closer to enemies and able to chase them down more efficiently. The extra damage, attack speed and life steal is also really good for Ezreal
Guardian Angel should be your 5th item. The passive and raw damage from this item will help Ezreal deal damage and upon taking lethal damage, Will be reborn.
Your final item should be a more defensive one. I recommend either Maw of Malmortius or Mercurial Scimiatar

Situational Items

If you are running low on health, or are having a hard time sustaining and kiting camps- Upgrade your refillable Potion into a Hunter's Potion.
If you want to have a more defensive item as your last, you can pick up any of these items.
Ezreal is a really good Jungler in the current meta. For items I recommend starting with machete with either refillable or potions. You can start which one you prefer. Your first major item is going to be upgraded Jungling item with enchantment Warrior. Your second item is going to be boots- buy the boots that you need to do well in that game. Your third item is going to be Trinity force, this item is overall really good because it gives him a long list of stats that will allow him to deal damage to enemies and become much stronger. Your fourth item is going to be BoRK. This item is good as it will allow you to chase enemies and deal extra damage to them. This item also allows you to sustain because of the life steal. Your final items will be Guardian angel followed by either Maw or Mercurial Scimitar.

Amumu

Ezreal does really well against tanks because he is rather mobile. You can kite them with your Q and E. Make sure to dodge their ultimate, you can do this with your E. In the early game, you should try to put them behind by going in their jungle and trying to counter jungle.

VS

Evelynn

Medium

This champion is frustrating to play against because of their stealth ability. Make sure you have their jungle warded, and do not get surprised by them. I would recommend trying to fight them early because you counter them and can easily kill them. Make sure to buy Red smite.

VS

Lee Sin

Easy

Ezreal has an easy time versus lee sin. This is because you have the range advantage and can out manoeuvre him and kite him easily. All you need to do is stay out of his auto attack range and not get caught by his Q.

VS

Nidalee

Medium

This can be rather easy however do not underestimate Nidalee. She has the range, and can easily pokes you. In this matchup you want to be careful of her spears. In this matchup you need to kite her whenever she is in her cat form. Try to put her behind early by stealing away her camps and invading her.

VS

Rammus

Medium

This champion is rather tanky but also deals a lot of damage. Beware of his ultimate and try to dodge it with your E. If he tries to fight you, you should kite him around. His taunt is very frustrating to play against. Becareful when you're fighting him.

VS

Sejuani

Easy

Ezreal does really well against tanks because he is rather mobile. You can kite them with your Q and E. Make sure to dodge their ultimate, you can do this with your E. In the early game, you should try to put them behind by going in their jungle and trying to counter jungle.

Twitch

Hard

This champion is frustrating to play against because of their stealth ability. Make sure you have their jungle warded, and do not get surprised by them. I would recommend trying to fight them early because you counter them and can easily kill them. Make sure to buy Red smite. Twitch is ranged, so you need to sneak up on him and burst him down.

VS

Volibear

Easy

Ezreal does really well against tanks because he is rather mobile. You can kite them with your Q and E. Make sure to dodge their ultimate, you can do this with your E. In the early game, you should try to put them behind by going in their jungle and trying to counter jungle.

VS

Warwick

Easy

This champion is rather tanky but also deals a lot of damage. Beware of his ultimate and try to dodge it with your E. If he tries to fight you, you should kite him around.

VS

Zac

Medium

Ezreal is good versus Zac because of his range advantage. However, Zac can be more useful from behind and can often do more than Ezreal can. In this matchup you need to stay out of his Jump by using your E. Also, I would recommend going into his jungle and take away as many camps as you can so he is behind.

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

  1. When ganking, Start with your ultimate before going in. It has a cast time which leaves you immobile while ulting. Surprise gank your laners with your ultimate to start with.
  2. Ezreal is a ranged champion, You must kite the jungle the best you can.
  3. You have one of the fastest level threes in the game, Use this to your advantage and gank.
  4. Ezreal's E is an escape ability, you can use this to counter jungle and escape quickly.
  5. Your ultimate is on a low cooldown, you can use this to ult as much as possible.
  6. Your ultimate is global, so keep and eye on the map.
  7. Make sure to abuse your passive and hit your skill shots.

How to Prevent Counter Jungling Back to Top

If you are a jungle player you’ve probably had your fair share of counter jungling in the past. In some games it is almost impossible to farm because you have been so heavily out jungled. Games like this are rather frustrating to play and are almost always hard to come back from. There are some ways to prevent counter jungling in League of Legends and here are some ideas that you can take forward into your future games to help prevent counter jungling.

Ganking Lanes

Showing yourself on the map when ganking lanes is one way of being counter jungle. When ganking Lanes, you need to be quick and efficient with your pathing and performance. Time is a valuable resource in League of Legends, and wasting it is something you should not do. While you are on the map you will be spotted. The enemy jungler will have enough time to know where you are and you can take objectives away from you. For example, if you are helping your top planer out the enemy jungler can invade your bottom side to either provide vision or take jungle camps away from you.

You can improve on this by not showing yourself for too long while ganking, and making sure that you have taken all your jungle whenever possible.

Provide Vision

Providing vision as the jungler is a very important. Everybody must do it to successfully show and spot the enemy. Pink ward’s in river bushes are one way to show where the enemy jungle is. This will prevent counter jungling because you can see them entering your jungle which will allow your team to collapse on them. If you know that the jungle is entering an empty side of the map, you should invade the opposite side of their jungle to try and steal their camps.

Vision is incredibly important for all Lanes. Spotting the enemy jungler when he is invading or passing through the river is a one way preventing invades or ganks.

Taking Camps

The most obvious way of preventing counter jungling is taking your buffs and camps whenever they are up. This will mean that the enemy will be wasting their time trying to take or steal buffs if they are not there. This will also put them behind as they have taken the time to come into our jungle. This also means that you could collapse on them while they are looking for your camps.

Once you improve in ranking and learn more about the game you will notice small signs to prevent counter jungling. It takes a lot of practice to become good at jungling so do not be discouraged when learning.

How to Counter Jungle Back to Top

Counter jungling is one of the fundamentals of learning to become a good jungler. Counter jungling can be hard to do but once you master the art you will know the signals of when you can counter jungle. It will become much easier and you can abuse your knowledge to win games by putting the enemy jungler behind and becoming strong yourself.

Yesterday we discussed to prevent counter jungling and today we will tell you how to do it. If you did not read yesterday’s guide I suggest reading that before this one however some of the information will be covered in both.

Vision

If you have vision of where the enemy jungler is and you can invade on the opposite side of his jungle. You can take away his camps knowing that he is on the opposite side of the map. They will not be able to get to you in time. Vision will help aid in this by knowing where he is and when. You can tell in the early stages of the game what camps he has done by looking at his CS amount . You should then estimate where he has been and where he is going next. After you have deciphered if it is worth going in to counter jungle him you should then act on it immediately. Hesitating will lessen your chances of a successful counter jungle attempt. Even if your counter jungle is unsuccessful leaving vision will help your lanes play around for the next few minutes.

Minimap awareness

Following on from vision knowing where the enemy jungler is by his ganking patterns will help you counter jungle him. If you see that the enemy jungler is topside ganking your top lane, you should play around it and either pressure bottom lane, midlane or counter jungle his bottom side camps. The way of doing this is very much the same as vision above.

Taking away buffs

In previous seasons, jungling was much harder and knowing jungle timers were way different to it is now. If you hold down the tab button you can see timers of Dragon, Baron or The Buffs. Knowing when the enemy jungle camps are up will allow you to contest them and being prepared is one way of doing that.

Knowing that the enemy jungle camp is coming up will allow you to take it away or at least fight over it, if you see that the enemy jungler is on the opposite side of the map and their buff is coming up in 10 seconds you could try to sneak it away from them. Taking away buffs from your enemies is one way of not only putting your enemy jungler behind but also putting the mid laner behind or even their ADC.

Once you have mastered the art of counter jungling and jungling in general. You will be able to find new ways to counter jungle and ways of abusing your strengths and putting the enemy jungle behind.

Jungle Pathing for Ezreal Early Game Back to Top

Please note, I am no good at juggling aggro from jungle camps. I have given it my best go, and if I can do it, then you should be able to do it as well. I have provided clips to prove that it is possible.

The first jungle route is Red Buff > Blue Buff > Gromp

https://plays.tv/video/59ca6b4b8964aef6ef/ezreal-jungle-clear-red-blue-gromp?from=user

The second jungle route is Red Buff > Wolves > Blue Buff

https://plays.tv/video/59ca6bb6895d3ec457/ez-jungle-clear-red-wolves-blue?from=user

The third jungle route is Blue Buff > Wolves > Red Buff

https://plays.tv/video/59ca6c0708c842c487/ez-jungle-clear-blue-wolves-red?from=user

The fourth jungle route is Buff then Gank

Please watch the clips to learn to juggle aggression, again- I wasn't doing it justice on how to juggle properly. However, the general gist is to auto attack, move backwards, auto. In some parts you can see I am taking less damage because I am kiting the camps.
