Summoner Spells Back to Top

Ideals Spells 4.png12.png

New Fiora really isn't that good at cheesing and can struggle early on, especially if you're new to her.  I only recommend getting 14.png if you know that you can kill someone early on, and honestly Fiora struggles to do that unless the opponent isn't that good which is why I usually avoid it.  Getting 12.png gives you breathing room to get levels and cs.

The Flash Benefit

It has a very long cooldown, but allows clutch plays to win a game.  Since Fiora has a nice dash now, you can also use6.png with similar effects.

When To Exhaust?

If you're facing 23_64.png11_64.png92_64.png then 3.png can really be helpful.  This spell pretty much negates all in situations which champions like these specialize in.  If these champs go all in for you, exhaust pretty much insures that they WON'T kill you.  It's also a form of CC which can help you gank or escape ganks.  If there's not a huge AD threat, I wouldn't really consider it.

Maxing Preference

Honestly, you could probably max Q or E depending on what you prefer.  I like maxing Q because I use it for escaping / gap closing.  Maxing E would probably give you a more bursty feel.  I don't like maxing W because the it only decreases the cooldown by one second opposed to the other abilities decreasing it by 2.

Brief descriptions and stats taken form

Duelist's Dance
RANGE: 90º
Duelist's Dance

Fiora identifies the Vitals of all nearby enemy champions, marked as an arc around their character. Vitals take 0.5 seconds to identify and last for 15 seconds. After a Vital is triggered or times out, Fiora identifies a new Vital on her target.

Basic attacks and Riposte.png Riposte against a Vital each deal 3% (+「 2.7 + (0.1 × Fiora's level)% 」per 100 bonus AD) of target's maximum health bonus true damage, heal Fiora for「 20 + (5 × Fiora's level) 」and grant her 20% + (10% × Grand Challenge.png Grand Challenge's rank) bonus movement speed that decays over 1.75 seconds.

This passive is what makes or breaks the new Fiora. You can constantly trigger these and dance around your opponent if you play it correctly.  It's usually just easy to hit them with your Q, or if you're really desperate, 4.png can do the trick.  It takes a bit of practice, but once you have it down, it makes you really hard to deal with.  The heal on the passive is nice, but it's not huge.

Keep in mind that you'll get a burst of movement speed when you hit one of these, so sometimes you should hit one of these before fleeing a gank if you can.

Q Ability

RANGE: 400
COST: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 MANA
COOLDOWN: 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 / 8

ACTIVE: Fiora dashes a short distance in the target direction, then stabs a nearby enemy if one is present while moving intoattack range of them.

The stab deals physical damage, applies on-hit effects, and prioritizes exposed Duelist's Dance.png Vitals, followed by enemies who would die to the strike and finally the nearest target, prioritizing champions.

  • PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 65 / 75 / 85 / 95 / 105 (+ 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 / 115% Bonus AD)

If Lunge hits an enemy, its cooldown is reduced by 60%.

This skill makes escaping ganks / chasing people so easy.  As you level it up, the AD scaling gets better.  I always use this to hit passive marks on enemies.  You can jump over small walls with this skill.

The most important aspect of this skill is that the cooldown gets refunded by 60% if you hit an enemy.  This is probably the only skill that will come up maybe twice in early trades. If you are running away, try to hit something so that you can use it again! Her cooldown starts really high at 16, but if you hit someone it goes down to 6.4! Maxed out it's 8 seconds while hitting someone takes it down to 3.2.  Add some CDR from items and you'll be able to spam this like crazy around your opponents.

W Ability

RANGE: 750
COOLDOWN: 19 / 18 / 17 / 16 / 15

ACTIVE: Fiora poises to strike in the target direction and then enters a defensive stance, parrying all incoming damage and hostile crowd control for the next 0.75 seconds.

After the duration, Fiora stabs her sword forward, dealing magic damage to all enemies in a line.

  • MAGIC DAMAGE: 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 / 250 (+ 100% AP)

The first enemy champion struck also has their movement and attack speed Slow icon slowed by 50% for 1.5 seconds. If Fiora parries at least one immobilizing effect, Riposte Stun icon stuns the target for the same duration instead.

If you want to master Fiora, then you need to master her parry.  Keep in mind that the slow / stun only hits one person while the damage hits everyone.  Once you use this skill, you will parry all damage for .75 seconds.  You don't need to time it or anything, while the skill is in use for the duration everything will be negated.  Don't waste this skill because it has a fairly long cooldown.

You can use this to completely avoid huge bursts like 1.png or stuns like24.png 4.png58.png.  If you are laning against people with poke 17.png54.png who poke with projectiles, you can use this skill to counter them.  This skill allows you to trade very favorably if used properly.

E Ability

COST: 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 MANA
COOLDOWN: 15 / 13 / 11 / 9 / 7

ACTIVE: Fiora's next two basic attacks gain 50% bonus attack speed.

The first attack can never Critical strike icon critically strike, but Slow icon slows its target for 1 second, while the second attack is guaranteed to Critical strike icon critically strike for bonus critical damage.

  • SLOW: 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60%
  • BONUS CRITICAL DAMAGE: -60 / -45 / -30 / -15 / 0%

Bladework resets Fiora's autoattack timer.

This skill resets an auto attack, so try using it right after an auto.  Getting really high AD will allow this skill to be somewhat bursty.  It's best used after using Q to hit a vital.  You can use this skill to last hit fairly well if you really need to.

If you are getting ganked, you should try to use the first strike to slow someone chasing you before dashing away.

R Ability

Grand Challenge
RANGE: 500 / 600
COOLDOWN: 110 / 90 / 70
Grand Challenge

PASSIVE: Duelist's Dance.png Duelist's Dance's bonus movement speed is increased.

  • BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED: 30 / 40 / 50%

ACTIVE: Fiora targets an enemy champion, highlighting all four of their Duelist's Dance.png Vitals for the next 8 seconds. While Grand Challenge is in effect, Duelist's Dance.png Duelist's Dance does not identify new Duelist's Dance.png Vitals on its target.

If Fiora is able to attack all four Duelist's Dance.png Vitals, or if she attacks at least one before her target dies, she creates a victory zone that heals her and allied champions within over the next 5 seconds.

「 HEAL PER SECOND: 80 / 110 / 140(+ 60% Bonus AD) 」

While near her target or within the victory zone, Fiora benefits from Duelist's Dance.png Duelist's Dance's bonus movement speed.

This ultimate is really hard to use, but very rewarding if you use it correctly.  It is really hard to hit every section, but if you do then you get healed for a TON of health.  Keep in mind that if you are in a teamfight and someone is about to die, using your ult and hitting at least on stack will heal your team for a huge amount, acting like a Soraka ultimate for those in the area.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

This is a typical starting set for Fiora. Since Fiora isn't good at cheesing people early, a doran blade will usually just set your build behind which makes the long sword start a much stronger option.
Getting this vs certain AD champs, like Tryndamere or Renekton, can make laning a bit easier. Your last hitting won't be as effective, but it'll be easier to survive.
I would only consider getting this if you are wanting to do a Lv1 camp or if you are facing someone with high raw damage, such as Riven. Getting one or two of these will ensure that early game cheesers won't kill you.

Core Items

Fiora sucks at pushing so these items really make a difference. You can use the Hydra active after landing your auto attack reset (your E) for maximum efficiency. I would hold off on upgrading this if you are wanting to deny someone / not push since it naturally pushes a lot.
Fiora isn't as good at bursting people anymore, so a health item really helps her get her damage off. The movement speed and armor reduction make this too good to pass up. 20% CDR makes Fiora a bigger threat in team fights because she'll actually be able to use skills much more often.
Getting this after BC really allows you to melt people down. It's cheap and easy to fit into most builds.
All of these boots can be helpful, but honestly Mercs do the best job for Fiora. The CC reduction allows you to get into team fights and do damage. Getting CDR boots + BC will allow you to get 40% CDR if you take the right masteries.
Fiora is a lot more scary if she can't be bursted down. You can't really play her as a glass cannon as the game goes on or you'll end up dying pretty fast. One of these items + BC will give you enough survivabity in team fights.
This is a decent alternative to Hydra if you want to build it. This gives you a lot more dueling power, but takes away your wave clear. Since I like pushing and taking towers, I usually opt for Hydra, but both are good items.
An example of a late game build.
    Another late game build example.
If you're facing an AP top, then hex drinker is your best friend and must be built first. This completely destroys their chances of going all in on you. Later on in the game, I would probably sell this for something else though.
If you feel like you have enough armor pen, getting blood thirster as a third item can really boost your damage and life steal. You can actually sustain your health really fast with this build, but keep in mind that BT is super expensive and a long time to buy.

Situational Items

If you ever get really ahead and can afford one, then get it every time. This item does a great job at every and can really stomp people. You can also consider this as a last item.
I prefer Black cleaver, but if you are doing well in lane, this item can destroy certain top laners. If you are not doing well then this item will not really do anything for you. I take BC instead of this because it gives you much more survival.
You could potentially use this instead of BC, but I don't think it's that useful. The slow is nice, but you already have a slow + gap closer.
This item is really scary in team fights if you are ahead, but if you die with this it ends up being a huge dead weight that takes a long time to recharge.
I always prefer Hydra or Botrk, but if you get this as a 6th item or something it'll make you impossible to kill. The sad thing is that this item is almost impossible to afford.
If the enemy team has a ton of AD or a huge AD threat then this item can allow you to solo them more effectively. It's not something you would pick up for most games though.

Read above for build descriptions.

How Building Works

The worse thing you can do is read my item selections and then just pick them when you play Fiora.  Building is a game to game thing and I honestly never build the same things. If you want to succeed in your game, you have to see a few different thing:

  1. Who is doing well?

Depending who is fed on the enemy team should determine parts of your build.

  2. What does your team need from you?
If your team is really squishy, then you might want to be more beefy to help out in team fights.

  3. What items are going to be the most effective?
If you need to split push to win, you might just get 3071_32.png3074_32.png3153_32.png to ensure that you can duel people effectively and get towers.  However, if you need to team fight to win, you might consider getting more health.

There's no cookie cutter way to winning with a build, you need to learn what works best with certain champions to ensure that you have a better chance at winning.

Starting a game

Sometimes it's worth it to buy a 1075_32.png or two with a 1053_32.png so that you can sustain in lane.  Always make sure that you have 2003_32.png when you go back to base even if it means not getting an item.  I've died a lot for picking a new item over getting potions in lane.

Winning a lane

If you're winning a lane, try to keep stomping on the enemy. 3074_32.png 3071_32.png This will ensure that you keep your lead and keep them from coming back anytime soon.  If Fiora is really ahead, she can afford to use a completely offensive build, but keep in mind that you'll be really easy to burst as the game goes on.

Losing a lane

Did you flop and get yourself killed?  It's not ideal, but it does happen.  If you're losing a lane, make sure you're not going to keep feeding.  Get a 1028_32.png1029_32.png1033_32.png to make sure that you're not going to get tower dived.  STOP PUSHING AND JUST LAST HIT.  Avoid getting 3077_32.png3074_32.png since they naturally push.  Naturally pushing allows the enemy to freeze your lane and deny you exp.

He has great sustain, but loses a lot of power if you parry his jump

  • Save parry for his jump so he doesn't get huge damage on you
  • Try to deny him from autoing freely, or he'll always be full health
  • Keep in mind his passive revives him
  • He is pretty good at all ins lv6, so be ready to disengage him when he ults
  • Defensive items aren't a bad idea after getting an offensive item (3082.png3047.png).

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He's not a big threat, but he sustains pretty well

  • You can dance around him with your Q
  • Your W can negate a lot of his damage
  • His autos do a lot of damage
  • You can probably land your entire ult if he pushes you
  • Get lifesteal to match his sustain
  • Watch out for pushing too hard

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

The new Darius is a lot more predictable for Fiora

  • Try to avoid getting hit with all of Darius' stacks or else he gets a huge steroid.
  • You can parry his Q pretty easy, and ult if you time it right.
  • You are better at early trades than he is
  • If he pulls you in, use your slow to escape him so he can't land his stacks
  • He shouldn't really be able to kill you at any point in the game if he doesn't get fed

Dr. Mundo

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png or 14.png

He is pretty easy as long as you don't get hit by the cleavers.

  • If you get ignite, his ult will be useless
  • You are usually stronger than him at all point in the game
  • 3153.png is good for his health stacking
  • You poke much easier than he does

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He is pretty annoying, but you can parry his ult and Q to take away most of his damage

  • Try to avoid getting hit by Garen's Q
  • Don't try to poke him when his skills are up unless you have parry or Q to disengage
  • You can parry his ult if you time it correctly
  • Don't fight inside of his spin or you'll take a lot of damage
  • You eventually out scale garen
  • Try to keep Garen's passive off or he'll heal a lot
  • Garen is good at lv2 cheesing

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He pokes pretty hard early on, but after 6 you should be able to win easily.

  • Just try to farm until level 6
  • He is really good at poking, especially early on when you lack mobility
  • You can parry his ultimate.  Gnar oftens uses it right after jump
  • He is pretty good at running away, try to look when his jump is on cooldown
  • If he overextends after lv6, you can probably just kill him off
  • Consider early 1001.png3044.png to catch him

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

This is a pretty hard skill match up.  If you are really good, you can avoid a lot of Irelia's damage.

  • If you can parry her stun / slow, then you will have a very easy time in this lane.  She will usually try to use it if you poke her so that she can retaliate
  • Disengage a fight while her W is up, especially at higher levels since it can do major damage
  • Dance around her with your ult + q when she ults and you can avoid most of her damage
  • She sustains better than you and can push you out of lane if you take too much harass
  • She is really strong after tri force, and you shouldn't engage her if your ult is down.

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

Since you can parry his stun, he's not that strong vs you

  • Your stun counters his pretty easily
  • You are better with short trades, jax is better with long ones
  • Try not to go all in if he uses his ult, wait it out
  • Jax is pretty good at chasing and escaping
  • You guys scale equally into late game
  • You can usually poke him pretty easy, but he will do more damage after lv6 with his passive

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png or 14.png

This lane is very predictable and easy to counter.

  • When Jayce jumps at you with his hammer, prepare your parry for his knock back
  • If you parry his knock back, you shouldn't have a hard time killing him
  • Try not to take a lot of early poke damage
  • At lv6 you get a huge power spike against him
  • Consider early 3044.png so you can catch him
  • Try to keep an eye on him so he doesn't land free energy blasts on you
  • You scale much better than he does
  • Don't play this lane over aggressively or he'll probably poke you out of lane

Lee Sin

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He is pretty easy in my opinion, but he can sustain decently if he maxes shield
  • If he maxes shield, he won't have any damage
  • You are stronger than him by lv3
  • He has good mobility and can be hard to gank
  • Go all in if he has no energy or a few of his spells are on cooldown
  • He will try to disengage you with his ultimate if you go all in on him
  • If he gets ahead of you, he can be a big problem

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png or 14.png

Malphite is easy to kill early on, but if he goes tank then he will be annoying
  • Malphite is one of the only champs you have potential to cheese
  • If he goes AP, just get AD and duel / kill him.
  • Use your parry to negate his Q + E
  • Try to not let his shield recharge if he stays close
  • Doesn't really have kill potential on you

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png or 14.png

He doesn't really have enough raw power to kill you, and he has no mobility to escape your ult

  • See if he's ap or AD, if AP get 3155.png
  • Trade with him when he uses his E, or when you parry his e
  • You are usually better than him at all phases of the game
  • He pushes hard which makes it easier to kill him
  • Deny him creeps when he pushes the wave and go all in when he's far enough out

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He sucks early, but then he ramps up

  • He is easy to bully and mess with early on
  • If you can't kill him, don't push him in
  • Try not to let him farm for free
  • He will probably be too strong to 1v1 eventually
  • Try to parry his Q
  • You need 3111.png to escape his wither
  • He's much easier to kill if he doesn't wither you

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png or 14.png

Try not to let her poke you down and you should be able to kill her

  • She can be difficult if she goes frozen fist and a tanky build, but this will make her team fighting potential weaker
  • Hide behind minions to avoid spears
  • Determine if shes going AP or AD
  • If you have ult up, you can chase her down
  • She's one of the only champs you can probably kill early game

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

Olaf isn't really hard unless you have a hard time dodging axes

  • You poke harder than he does most of the time
  • He doesn't really have any mobility and is easy to all in engage
  • If you understand how to parry his E, you will have an easy time
  • Get lifesteal early on so you can match his
  • You do almost everything better than he does and out scale him pretty hard

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He's not that strong mid to late game, but early game he is really annoying

  • He can spam his spear throw much more often than you can parry
  • Try to avoid all in fights with him early
  • You can kill him pretty easy at lv6
  • He scales horribly, but can carry hard early
  • Farm, don't die, and you'll eventually win.

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He's pretty annoying, but you can parry his stun!

  • Try to avoid his Q's when you go to trade
  • He sustains better than you.
  • Don't trade with him when he has fury
  • You scale better than him
  • He can chase pretty effectively
  • Keep in mind that his ult gives him a nice amount of health
  • If he wastes his skills, he's easy to kill
  • Try to match his cs early and you should be able to beat him later.

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png or 1054.png2003.png  4.png12.png

Riven is pretty scary to deal with early on, but eventually you get stronger than her.Consider 3.png because it will negate her ult.
    • Attack her when she has cooldowns up
    • Getting two doran items stops her from being able to burst you in lane
    • She snowballs super hard, so try not to die
    • She is really strong lv3 and will probably try to cheese you
    • Her power spike is lv6 is better than yours
    • When you go all in on her, make sure you have enough damage to kill her and her shield.
    • If you're spells are on cooldown, a good riven will immediately go all in and try to kill you
    • Try not to go for all in trades when your ult is down
    • Walking towards her will usually bait her to use skills.

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

He can't really kill you unless he gets ahead.

  • He will try to farm all game, and as he levels up he gets better at it.
  • Try not to get thrown into his poison and parry his throw when possible
  • Since he moves a lot it's probably harder to land all of your ult
  • You might want to consider 3155.png if he tends to be really aggressive
  • Eventually he will become really hard to kill
  • Consider roaming since he's going to stay top, but be careful because he pushes really hard and you'll lose CS.

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

You are both ultra carries, but Tryndamere usually carries harder than you if he gets fed.

  • Don't let him cheese you early or else you pretty much lose the lane
  • You can sometimes use W right after poking him to suck up his retaliation
  • If he lands his W on you, slow him with E or else he'll chunk you really hard
  • He can dive and escape you pretty easy
  • Consider strong defensive items later on vs him outside of laning phase

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

Don' let him poke you down and he should be easy

  • Vlad has low sustain starting out
  • 3155.png negates his kill potential on you
  • You poke harder than he does
  • Save your ult for after his pool
  • Parry his ult right before the damage lands

Starting Preference

I really don't like Wukong, but he's not impossible

  • It's difficult to parry Wukong unless you have fast reflexes
  • His clone is pretty obvious to spot, also consider 2043.png
  • Don't let him poke you for free
  • Fight him when his cooldowns are up
  • You ult is better if you can land the attacks
  • He is better at roaming than you

Starting Preference

1036_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png  4.png12.png

Parry his ult and avoid his poke.

  • He will win if he gets free poke on you
  • Go in on him when he wastes his shadows or is low energy
  • He is impossible if he gets ahead
  • He is good at pushing and roaming, but you are stronger up front

Tips To Gaining Elo

These tips will not ensure that you'll win every game, but they can drastically improve your performance overall and make it EASIER to win games.
  1. Don't play when you're tired.  As much as you want to play at night, your reaction time slows down and you end up playing worse.  I lose most of my games at night.
  2. Upgrade 3361.png at lv 9.  Having extra wards on the map can actually win the game.  For 250g you get a sightstone that'll help you throughout the entire game.
  3. Watch professional players play, and steal their tricks / read guides.  There's a reason why children of famous athletes oftentimes become famous athletes themselves, the influence of having a great role model.  Don't "figure out" how to play league of legends by trial and error, watch how diamond players handle their business on YouTube or some other site.
  4. Play Character's that you're good at ranked.  If you love playing Vayne, but you hardly ever win, consider playing someone else.  You might have more fun with a certain champ, but it's also no fun rotting in low elo.  CHECK YOUR WIN RATES.
  5. Try to avoid really difficult champs ranked unless you really know how to play them.  I know that 157.png245.png238.png7.png4.png35.png11.png are really fun characters, but they are really bad for gaining elo most of the time. I have seen people maining these champs ranked with over a hundred games, and a win rate of like 45%.  I sometimes dodge games just because I have one of these champs on my team.  If you really want to rank up, use characters that you can win and play well with!
  6. Team fight and push, especially when you're ahead.  I hate playing on a smurf in low elo because NO ONE GROUPS.  GROUP UP AND PUSH.  The easiest and fastest games you'll ever play are the ones when your team comes together to fight and push.  You should only avoid grouping up if the enemy team is also grouping and is stronger than you.  Don't go back to lane when you kill someone, take the tower or help someone else!
  7. Use pings and communicate with your team.  "Darius, your laner ganked me"  "Use your map idiot."  Stop that nonsense and get some manners.  IF YOU WANT YOUR TEAM TO PERFORM BETTER THEN USE PINGS AND COMMUNICATE.  If someone is about to get ganked, if you want to get a tower, if you want a gank, if your laner is missing, just ping!!!
  8. Ward.  Upgrade your ward item for 250g and have the equivalent of a sightstone.  If your team has no ward coverage, then you can assume the game is lost / almost impossible to win.  I have honestly won certain games by just warding.
  9. Don't blame people for your mistakes!!!  EVERYONE makes mistakes!  Your teams are not the reason why you are at a low elo, it's because you need to get a little better.  As long as you win MOST 50%+ of your games, you will raise in the ladder.  you can't win every single game, but you can win most of them.
  10. Don't fight, criticize, or complain about your team.  Stop telling them how to play and what to build, save that for post game.  Your team sucks, no one cares, and you're making them suck even more by mentioning it.  I have lost so many easy games because people fail to get along with each other.  DON'T GO AFK OR JUST NEVER GROUP IF YOU'RE MAD AT YOUR TEAM.  YOU WILL NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN AND YOU ONLY END UP HURTING YOURSELF AND YOUR ELO.
  11. MUTE toxic people, and ones who make you angry.  Whenever I see that I don't get along with some snarky team member, I just instantly mute them.  You can't argue with someone who is muted.  Press TAB and click on the mute icon by their name.  Not only am I a happier player, I actually end up being a better one.
  12. Don't play with your friends ranked unless they are a smurf.  I ONLY got to plat when I stopped playing with my friends.  Playing with your friends makes the competition even more difficult.  I know you love them, but they are no good for your elo, and oftentimes they are not better than an increased competition.
  13. Leave Ranked Games if your team seems trolly.  Support 2.png and jungle 35.png who has a 30% win rate?  Just leave.  From what I've seen, your MMR won't actually go down and you'll only lose a few lp for leaving (unless you leave multiple games consecutively).  We play to have fun, and it's no fun playing matches with trolls.  Don't be tenacious, leave when it's obvious that you should and you'll never regret it.
  14. Don' t take league too seriously.  You will most likely not be an LCS player who makes money from video games, I'm sorry, the chances are the same as playing the lottery.  Play league for fun and enjoy what you do!

When To Play Fiora Back to Top

Should You Always Pick Fiora?

Even though she is really fun to play, it's not always the best idea.  If your team has an AD mid and jungle, then going Fiora top isn't that helpful.  I also wouldn't pick FIora if my team is too squishy and in need of CC.
I usually won't have big issues first picking Fiora nor am I too afraid of being countered.

Fiora Is More Successful When...

  1. You have supports / mages that can help you get into fights and survive 40.png117.png26.png10.png61.png37.png
  2. Your team has someone who can engage the enemy team 54.png33.png77.png98.png62.png120.png106.png

Fiora Struggles When...

  1. The enemy has champs with high mobility / hard to catch / reliable escapes 21_64.png81_64.png421_64.png7_64.png51_64.png58_64.png59_64.png115_64.png120_64.png103_64.png79_64.png113_64.png429_64.png
  2. The enemy has a lot of CC / ways to stop you 40_64.png134_64.png3_64.png12_64.png13_64.png18_64.png33_64.png34_64.png54_64.png50_64.png57_64.png72_64.png89_64.png111_64.png

Introduction To Trading Back to Top

What Is Trading?

Trading is the exchanging of damage between two champions.  For example, you auto attack someone and they auto attack you back.  That is a basic form of trading.

What Is The Purpose Of Trading?

The basic purpose behind trading is to do more damage to your opponent than they do to you.  You want to lower their hp / mana more than they lower yours so that you can get an advantage over them.

What Are The Different Types Of Tradings?

Basic Trading:  This is when you and your opponent trade damage and you both come out around even.  For example, someone auto attacks you and you hit them back.  No real damage is done here.

Favored Trading:  This is when you or your opponent does more damage and comes out ahead in a trade.  For example, your opponent lands a spell and auto attacks you, and you only retaliate with one auto attack.  In this case, your opponent wins the trade and gains a slight advantage over you in the lane.  Whenever you trade, you ideally want to do something to make sure that you have a little edge over your opponent.  The more favored trades you have, the easier it becomes to kill your opponent or push them from lane.

One Sided Trading:  This is when someone takes damage from their opponent and does not retaliate.  For example, someone goes in to auto attack a minion, and the opponent auto attacks them in the process and backs off before they can get attacked.  These are one of the best trades since you receive a slight advantage while receiving no punishment.  Taking free harass is the easiest way to lose a lane and is also why champions like   7_64.png92_64.png17_64.png are feared.  People allow them to do free damage without trying to hit them back.

All In Trading:  This form of trading is when someone blows all of their stuff to try and ensure a kill.  Champions like 5_64.png122_64.png92_64.png55_64.png105_64.png are more likely to try and force an all in fight to try and kill you.  If you can't win an all in fight, then you need to be extra careful of champs like these because they will force all in fights to ensure kills.  If you're able to do this and secure kills at any point in the game, it's usually worth it unless there's a lurking jungle nearby.

Trading As Fiora Back to Top

Fiora Trading

Fiora is a bit difficult to trade with, so you really have to pay attention if you want to do it effectively.  It's much easier to trade as Fiora when you get lv6.

Keep in mind that you are not an "in your face" trading champ, you can have to use mobility to get your damage off unlike a 23.png or 92.png.
  1. Use your Q to hit weak points and proc your passive, and then follow up with auto + E
  2. Look for trades when the enemy is on cooldown so you can limit counter play.
  3. Avoid all in trades until you get enough damage to kill someone.
  4. After hitting a weak point, use your W if you expect the enemy will try to use some form of CC to retaliate with (such as 58.png stun.)
  5. If your enemy is on cooldown, circle them and try to hit more weak points since they spawn pretty frequently.
  6. Don't try to hit risky weak spots because you could potentially get ganked or forced into a long trade
  7. If the enemy has ult and you don't, be weary for trying to trade since they might all in you.

Team Fighting As Fiora Back to Top

A Note On Team Fighting With Fiora.

  • You are not good at engaging, so if possible, leave that to someone else
  • Wait for the enemy to use their CC before rushing into the fight
  • Parry support CC before going for an ADC

Fiora's Job In Team FIghts.

  1. Attack Isolated targets.  If someone is away from their team, you can usually kill them before their team can react.
  2. Peel for your carries.  You don't have a lot of CC, but you can definitely kill someone who goes for your carry.
  3. Burst tanks with your ult.  Your ult can really smash really tanky targets, but don't focus them if your carries are in danger.
  4. Be the carry if your carries suck.  If you are the only one doing damage, then don't bother protecting dead weight on your team.
  5. Bait and Parry Hard CC.  If an 1.png wastes Tibbers on your parry, the fight is pretty much won.
  6. Landing your ult will provide a lot of health for your entire team.  Even if you only land one proc of your ult on someone, the healing field will come up

What To Avoid In Team Fighting

  • Don't go for targets you can't reach.  It's good to burst down carries, but if you can't reach them, you'll end up getting killed for no reason.  Attack people who are in your range and don't be risky.
  • Don't waste parry before the fight.  Your parry is one of the scariest skills in the game, so if the enemy team sees it's down, they would probably be able to land free poke or engage a team fight to their advantage.  It's the same concept as 53_64.png pull being down.  When it's down, you lose a lot of pressure
  • Don't fight when your team is far away, retreating, or not paying attention.  You need to be aware of where your team is and what their doing before engaging a fight
  • Don't focus the wrong champs.  It's true that Fiora can do a lot of true damage to a tank, but it's usually better to focus on killing someone whose going for your carries like 24_64.png92_64.png11_64.png238_64.png121_64.png.  Saving your carries is much more important than killing a tank.
  • Don't be in the front line.  If someone engages on you, you will probably die.

Mistakes To Avoid As Fiora Back to Top

What To Avoid Doing

  1. Don't waste your parry.  If an enemy sees that your parry is down, they can usually poke you much easier without immediate fear of retaliation.  Your parry cooldown is also very long at lower levels making it really important to land.
  2. Don't stay top forever.  You are really good at team fighting and pushing, so you should try to group with your team.  You are no use to your team if you are constantly top lane farming.  Use 12.png and roam for bot and mid every once in awhile.
  3. Don't be reckless with 6.png4.png.  A flash Q might kill an enemy under the tower, but it also might get you killed needlessly.  If the enemy has flash, you can probably expect them to bust it if you do. Make sure there's a good chance of killing someone before using a spell.  Also, if you are being ganked / killed, don't waste a spell unless you're sure that you can get away.  Having your spells down means that your lane pressure goes down a lot.
  4. Don't encourage fights you can't win.  If your team is awful at team fighting, or your enemy laner is beating you, then back off.  It's pointless to keep engaging a fed 24_64.png92_64.png157_64.png when they can obviously kill you.  If your team comp keeps getting wrecked, 5v5 then communicate a better strat for split pushing.
  5. Don't go back to base too often.  I know it's nice to get a kill and want to get an item, but sometimes you'll end up losing more a lot of farm to just gain a little power spike.
  6. Don't underestimate a support.  It's really easy to kill ADC's usually, but a support will stop you with 3.png and CC.  Most 1v2s will end in failure if the support has half a brain.

Top Lane Tricks Back to Top

What To Do If You're Being Denied Cs / Have A Huge minion wave?

You don't usually want this to happen because it will probably result in the lane being pushed to the enemy tower and you'll probably lose exp / cs in the process.  There's still some tricks you can do though
  • Try to get the wave to the enemies tower so you don't keep losing cs / exp
  • If there's a huge wave at the enemies tower, and it's possible to go kill for kill, then DO IT.  You both get gold from the kill, but the enemy will lose a TON of exp / cs to the tower.  DO NOT ATTEMPT IF IT'S RISKY.  Champions like 98_64.png54_64.png13_64.png10_64.png24_64.png can bait you to dive them and get a free kill.  You are very good at diving if you have jungle help.
  • Don't loiter around the enemy tower unless you can 2v1 a gank or if you have decent ward coverage and CAN escape a gank.
  • Keep in mind that your minions will come to your defense if someone tries to attack you making extended trades great.
  • Go to your jungle and kill Grog / Golems / Snail.  This lessens the blow of being denied a little bit
  • Gank another lane if it's possible / push another lane to it's tower and try to take it

What To Do If The Enemy Has A Huge Minion Wave Pushing?

This is the easiest way to get an advantage if you deny the enemy cs / exp.  It makes it difficult for the top laner to farm without being in danger of ganks or your all in pressure.
  • Let the enemy minions kill your minions, and then keep the agro on yourself until your minions spawn again.
  • Be careful engaging since all of the minions will turn and attack you
  • Keep the wave by your tower so the enemy has to put himself in harms way to try and farm
  • Ward your top bush because an enemy jungler could be lurking there for a kill
  • Ask for a gank if the enemy top is silly enough to stay around too long
  • Pull the enemy into tower range so that they can't retaliate without the tower hitting them.

How To Handle Jungle / Mid Ganks Back to Top

Getting killed early can easily cost you a lane, so you need to be very careful on how to handle being ganked.

Gank Prevention

  • If you like to push, consider putting a 2043_32.png in your bush to ward away ganks
  • Keep in mind where the enemy jungle starts.  If his last blue / red buff ends by top lane, then it's pretty likely he'll visit you if you're pushing hard.
  • Look at who the jungle is.  19_64.png9_64.png2_64.png11_64.png aren't the best early gankers, and sometimes you can even kill them before a 2v1 happens depending on how low their hp is.  If there's a 5_64.png59_64.png254_64.png421_64.png64_64.png then you need to be much more careful since these guys can do lv2 ganks after one buff.  The more CC and mobility the jungle has, the scarier they are.
  • Certain mid champs 238_64.png105_64.png7_64.png4_64.png1_64.png also like to snowball other lanes, so make sure to look mid lane every once in awhile to make sure their not roaming.
  • Be much more careful if your 4.png is down since it'll be more difficult to escape ganks.
  • Don't stay overextended for long periods of time.  You can get away with this if the enemy jungler is not really good or if you're super ahead, but generally this is an easy way to die.

Gank Reactions

  • If there's a very little chance of you escaping, don't bust 4.png or other spells needlessly.
  • If you can't escape, you might as well try to kill someone or lower their hp.  Focus whoever has the lower hp / easiest to kill.  Don't bust14.png unless there's a good chance to kill someone
  • If you're going to die, try not to die to your laner.  The more gold they have, the easier it'll be for them to get ahead of you in lane.
  • If no one has damaged you, sometimes you can suicide into a tower and give no one the gold.  Darius usually doesn't have the mobility for this though.
  • You can camp the bushes and ambush a jungler whose trying to gank you.
  • If you can't run away, run towards whoever will be easier to kill and engage them.
  • If a jungler and top laner are pushing with a lot of minions, don't stay if they can kill you.  It sucks to lose a lot of minions, but it sucks more to die and lose minions.

Game Phases Back to Top

Early Game (Lv 1-5)

You are pretty weak early game, so focus on getting some levels / cs before going for all in trades.
  • Watch out for champs who try to cheese lv 1-2 23.png92.png122.png.
  • Don't let the enemy poke you for free.
  • You are pretty hard to gank at this point in the game unless the enemy has a strong early ganker.
  • Try not to push too hard
  • At Lv3 you get a decent power spike.
  • If you are stronger than someone early on, just poke and bully them away from cs.  Kill is possible

Mid Game (Lv 6-13)

At lv6 you get a nice power spike that allows you to duel people pretty effectively.
  • Look for all in trades where you can use your ult
  • Start to group with your team to get objectives
  • Use 12.png to for ganks and dragon.
  • Don't be afraid to give your tower if you can help successfully gank a lane.
  • Take the enemy top tower so you can assist other lanes.
  • You are strong enough to duel most people if you are even in farm.
  • If your laner is a lot ahead of you, try to not let them take your mid / inner turret.

Late Game (Lv14-18)

You are exceptionally strong at this point and can 1v1 almost anyone with ease and split push decently.
  • Try not to split push if your team is grouping, even if you have teleport.
  • Peel for carries in team fights
  • Enter team fights when the enemy uses their CC on someone else so you don't die at the start.
  • Only split push if you have good wards or else you'll die needlessly.  You have good escape potential late game
  • Attack isolated targets.

Tricks To Use As Fiora Back to Top

Fiora Tricks

  • You can use your Q to jump over walls and small obstacles.  Use this to your advantage when you are trying to escape of surprise someone
  • If you are overextending and someone comes to gank you, use W on whatever form of CC the jungle is going to use on you, and then use Q to dash away from them.  Also try to use E to slow whoever tries to get to you.  Fiora can actually escape a lot of ganks if she times her parry correctly.
  • If you are getting ganked, ult whoever is closer to you and use the 30-50% movement speed bonus to escape.  Combine that with your parry and it's almost impossible to gank you while your ult and W is up.
  • Hit someones vital point, ult them, and then hit the same one for a double vital hit.
  • When trying to escape someone, hit their vital to get a burst of movement speed.
