Summoner Spells Back to Top

These are the different summoners you can take, My preference before was 14.png12.png purely because you have to be roaming when you play Fizz. Your support probably warded one of the bushes in bottom lane, and if your enemy is pushed to tower its a free double kill most of the time. In my opinion, 90% of games are decided by how badly one of the bottom lanes does, and by taking 14.png12.png you can have a large affect on the outcome of the game. This of course means that you don't have 4.png or a defensive summoner like 6.png21.png1.png, so you will need to be careful in lane. By not taking 4.png however, you attract the enemy jungler's attention and you can waste his time by E'ing out of ganks.

Also, if you die before level 4 with 14.png12.png, I guarantee your team will repeatedly call you a no flash noob. Solution? Don't die! woooooooooo

I have been taking 14.png7.png lately though in most dangerous lanes like 238_64.png. Barrier is a great spell for going all in, or if they try to all in you at early levels. if they chase you into your minion wave, just pop 7.png and turn the fight. 7.png is also good for tower diving and general survivability, especially since 12.png is lackluster lategame. If they dive you at your tower, just 7.png some damage, shark whoever is tanking tower and 14.png, and E so they can't attack you briefly and let the tower kill them coupled with the slow from your shark. Landing a shark on someone that comes under your tower just a little bit will make them get hit by ~4 tower shots, which is almost always a kill. New 7.png also allows you to win a lot of 2v2s since you can heal your jungler, and 2v2s are a huge part of the game.

If you don't take 7.png, any other summoner works on fizz. 6.png is good for chasing or escaping top lane since the longer lane is easier to punish, 4.png is generally good as always ,especially against the 56_64.png since if he ults and tethers you your E won't be enough to escape the leash, and 57_64.png since you can just 4.png trickster into your tower if he snares you, and 3.png can screw certain champs over like 55_64.png. 7.png has a lower cooldown than 4.png though, and the snowbally nature of the game makes it the strongest choice right now probably.

You can take 1.png if you think you're gonna get raped by their 37_64.png/22_64.png/32_64.png/99_64.png/113_64.png retarded aoe cc comp too, and 1.png shits on certain champions like 99_64.png and 45_64.png just because their kits are based around landing a cc ability and burning all of their moves. 1.png+E when they cc you and instantly dodge their entire kits.

7.png is pretty much 100% better than 21.png now, so just don't take 21.png ever.

Masteries Back to Top

Turns out if you buff the cunning tree and nerf deathfire touch, 12/18 is gonna be way better on every champion.

For after they nerf cunning tree:

18/12 is my preferred mastery set-up. I go feast over double-edged sword because of how amazing feast is in lane, and because double edged sword's downside is not that small. I go bounty hunter because I think the lategame potential of it beats the earlygame power of oppressor. Biscuits because they haven't released the third mastery in that tree, and dangerous game for obvious reasons.

I go deathfire touch over thunderlord's decree because i feel that deathfire touch's synergy with fizz's W is really strong. it makes his laning phase autos do a lot of damage even with only one hit, and it helps kill people with bleed damage lategame. better than the minute spike damage on a super long cooldown that you get from thunderlord's.

The first three levels are really dependent on how your game is going. You generally want to start either W or E, E for ranged champs like 10_64.png and W against a melee enemy mid like 38_icon_64.png. Get E second if you are afraid of being ganked (since you don't have flash if you're like me), W second if you think you have to last hit under tower, and Q second if you are pushing and have an opportunity to QW the enemy without dying.

After they changed BACK Fizz's W to not be %missing health on hit, it is again better to max E, since W does not scale very well any longer. For this reason, I leave it until both my Q and E are maxed.

If you go magicpen/tank build, then you can max W first, and get 3068_32.png either as my first or second item to help clear minions.  This also helps you save mana since you won't have to use your E on the creepwave, and that's important since I don't build mana until 3110_32.png, which is usually my 3rd item.

W is better than Q after the changes to max second.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    I like it
it's viable against low damage/auto attack based champions, but it offers little sustain and delays your build
My start every game; increased potion healing and potential snowball effect makes it better than dorans

Core Items

Abyssal first item VS AP heroes is very strong if you can manage your mana since most mids don't itemize MR, and AP Mid+Top is popular right now - also allows your to oneshot the creepwave with E
These items make you extremely survivable together but zhonyas is not in a great place right now
CLOTH ARMORS -> SEEKERS EARLY IF YOU ARE AGAINST AN AD but zhonyas kind of sucks
Sorcerer's boots took a large indirect nerf from cheaper magic penetration and cooldown/swiftness boots got buffed to be dirt cheap
if you want cdr you can buy and keep just the codex/finish nashors lategame
my common build path; zhonyas or gunblade last item

Situational Items

GA isn't worth the stats you're purchasing usually
if they're running ap top and ap mid, or if you needed the early negatron and they have no mr
BEST DEFENSIVE ITEM AGAINST AD TEAMS, NULLIFIES THE MOST DAMAGE AND HAS A GREAT PASSIVE/ACTIVE
if you think you'll get taunted and die from something like Rammus
Hard to build but once you get it you hit like a truck; gives you 40% cdr easily
    Malzahar wants your fish D
    you're a spear magnet
iceborn gauntlet is a really strong item vs all AD or even mostly AD teams, and tabi are also ok
    Pretty good abyssal alternative!
makes you really annoying very early but you deal no damage without multiple rotations so I don't like it

Start 2041_32.png if you're vs magic damage and 1029_32.png if you're against physical damage. If you start 1029_32.png, then conserve mana by not frequently using your moves, and just trade with unempowered autos unless you're at full mana or they've lost a significant chunk of their health, since activating it won't add almost any damage unless they're low.

-------------------------------------------------------------Tank Fizz--------------------------------------------------------------

If you start 1029_32.png, then when you base for the first time buy whichever items get you the closest to 3068_32.png while spending the most gold you can. This means if you have 1000+ gold, buy 1011_32.png. If you have 900~ gold, buy 1031_32.png + 1028_32.png. If you have 800g, buy 1031_32.png and potions of assorted flavor, or 1001_32.png if you still have enough potions from the game start.

If you started 2041_32.png, then just buy whichever items get you the closest to 3001_32.png while spending the most gold you can, so if you have 1000+ gold, get 1026_32.png, if you have less than 850g then get  1033_32.png + pots.

After you finish either 3001_32.png or 3068_32.png, build the other one so that you have both. This only doesn't apply if your opponents are all AD, in which case you can sub out 3001_32.png for another tank item like 3143_32.png. Your third item should be 3110_32.png, although after your first two items you should have build 3020_32.png at some point, usually when the gold is most convenient.

After you have 3068_32.png + 3020_32.png + 3001_32.png + 3110_32.png, you want to build whichever tank item counters the enemy team. This will most likely be 3102_32.png, since you want more health to go along with your armor, and since you have built skewed towards armor already and want to counterbalance it with more MR.  After you build that, you probably want to buy 3075_32.png just to make yourself more of a threat for their ADC.

_______________Relatively_Outdated_Below_But_Still_A_Good_Read __________________________________

These rules apply to top lane as well as mid lane, except less roaming is involved if you're going top.

The sustain from  2041_32.png and pots is probably the most you can get, and if you get flask you can manage to only buy one dorans, allowing you to keep your other item spaces open. two dorans still works though.

The reason that you start this many potions is that most enemy champs have ridiculous harass against fizz if you don't spam E, and if you get chunked to low hp with a large minion wave coming, you are going to miss too much cs or you might die. Starting and and agressively chugging a ton of pots will allow you to reach ~lv5+ with around 1000 gold, assuming you haven't killed or been killed by your lane opponent.

On your first back, you'll most likely get 1 or 2 1056_32.png1001_32.png or an 1052_32.png possibly, and maybe a 2044_32.png and 2003_32.png. At this point you'll begin to be able to QW the enemy laner without fear of getting 100-0'd since this gives a decent amount of hp along with . You can back before getting this much gold if you're against some ridiculous harass lane such as 80_icon_64.png, and you can simply get one 1056_32.png instead and run/12.png back to your tower if there's a large minion wave you are going to miss.

On your second or third back, You will either want to pick up a 3057_32.png or 3020_32.png or more ap. The moment you get your sheen, you will do tons of damage and should be able to kill someone who's at ~65% with one combo involving your ultimate. Most of the time, simply landing your shark on the enemy in lane with this much health will make them flash for panic of getting destroyed, in which case you can either walk away from this engagement and try to kill them later, or you can walk towards them into Q range, and QW into E 14.png on them under their tower if you can kill them. This is riskier, because if you aren't well warded, or if they have a nocturne/lee sin/maokai, you might be dead. Also, don't get baited into tanking tower for days.

After 3057_32.png, you can buy 3023_32.png as an option if you want. I feel like it is good only because the stats that it offers are very good on fizz, and the active is huge. The active allows for you chase people more effectively, and allows you to catch people when they're out of position since the shadows follow whoever was closest to you on activation. You can also use it to pop banshees veil, which is pretty huge later on. I get it every game just because of how easy it is to build and because of how strong your roam becomes when you have it (extra MS and 2.5 seconds of 40% slow) and I feel that the MS and CDR helps me become more survivable in teamfights, when I usually just end up diving their back line and getting CC'd/murdered instantaneously.

An early 3191_32.png will benefit you if you started 1029_32.png, not because its better against ADs than 3082_32.png, but because it doesn't delay your build. In the same way that getting a 2039_32.png is good for the short term, you could have spent the gold elsewhere if you didn't get it. So make your cloth armor you got to start with into this item instead of wardens mail unless they're running all bruisers or something stupid.

On your third or fourth back, if you are running12.png, or when you can afford it, get 3255_32.png!!!
THESE ARE HYSTERICAL WITH 12.png.
if you see an enemy with low hp from any point now on, you can simply killing them by recalling back to your base, 12.png to a nearby ward/minion, and running at 900 MS at them while they panic and try to flash away. You are simply too fast to get away from though, and you can get free kills like this top/bot 90% of the time 12.pngt is up. Your E also doesn't remove the homeguard speed boost as long as you don't land on anything, and i've had hilarious moments of teleporting close to an isolated 22_icon_64.png, E'ing over her ult when she tries to save herself, and proceeding to run up to her at 900 ms and QW-E / R QW her for the kill.
Teleport/Homeguard boots give you incredible countergank/clean-up potential, and should be abused for free kills bot/top.
I wouldn't suggest rushing homeguard boots if you did not get teleport as your summoner. Anything that delays your build delays your damage output.

Then you can leave 3057_32.png as it is or finish it if you want but finishing it is not as good now that lichbane has been nerfed. 3157_32.png second will allow you to survive better in teamfights, allowing you to E into the enemy team for tons of aoe damage and zhonyas'ing when they all try to focus you, then Q'ing out of the teamfight towards whichever enemy is closest to your team. You can actually use 3157_32.png while in mid air of your E, and you can still partially control where you fall while invulnerable. this can be incredibly powerful initiation for your team, assuming you have an 32_icon_64.png or 54_icon_64.png to follow up. If you're 0/5 or just feel like you're useless, you can build 3128_32.png before 3157_32.png, as survivability doesn't really help if you do no damage. you can also use the active on 3128_32.png while your target has been marked by the shark, which will allow bonus damage to apply to urf as well as your combo. You're instantly not useless in teamfights! completely useless, anyway.

Get 3135_32.png just because of how cost efficient it is, and then you can buy a defensive item component of your choice like 1031_32.png before building 3089_32.png. If nobody on their team builds MR, then 3089_32.png first will increase your damage further than 3135_32.png, but most people get at least a 3174_32.png or a 1057_32.png, so 3135_32.png is almost always better. You can also get a 3026_32.png before either of the two, since I have moved over to a more survivable build. Most of my teamfights i realized were me trying to dive their backline, and their 81_64.png using 4.png7.png arcane shifting into his 40_64.png who would shield him and 3.png me, and i'd pretty much get obliterated in the middle of their team. If I build 3157_32.png+3026_32.png very early, I will still do damage since 105_64.png ALWAYS does damage, and I can stall out their team for infinitely long, and I might even live with my own 7.png+jumps/dashes once i get out of GA passive, so I feel the pros of being super annoying and unkillable outweigh the cons of slightly less damage, especially since most people build a ton of MR anyway.

VS

Aatrox

Medium

A complete skill matchup. He's hard to commit on in a close fight if he has his passive up, since this will give him the edge in a 1v1 assuming he doesn't miss all his skills. His sustain early is batty, so if you can't chuck him down before level 5, there's honestly  no way to stop his sustain unless you 100-0 him, which is made even harder due to his die passive. Your w shreds his lifesteal, but not enough to make you win a straight 1v1 guarenteed unless you dodge his stun and slow. If you get a successful gank on him, you can snowball your lane with the gold advantage plus the period of time his die move is on cooldown.

VS

Ahri

Easy

Pretty easy matchup, just don't get hit by a charm for free and you should be fine. If you are just last hitting and you get hit by the first pass of Q, you can E its pass backwards to mitigate some damage.

VS

Akali

Hard

PREPARE YOUR BUTTHOLE.
You'll get Q'd by her, again and again and again. And then she'll auto you and the mark will explode. And then you will have 1/3rd hp.
Try not to feed her so that she doesn't rape your entire team~

Let it be noted that a lead for you in this lane will snowball it ridiculously.

Let it be known that i haven't played against an akali in the past 100 games due to akali nerfs, so she's probably fine now.

VS

Anivia

Medium

She's super squishy, but her damage is rediculous. If you can manage to dodge her Q pre-6, she's an easy kill. If she's not dumb though, she'll just wait for you to QW in, and Q-E you point blank for tons of damage. Essentially its a free kill on her if her jungle isn't around and she tries to land a Q on you without you initiating first.
The only reason I didn't put this matchup as easy is because her autoattack range is RIDICULOUS. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING. YOU WILL BE AUTO'D 5000000000 TIMES. PAIN.

VS

Annie

Medium

Dodge whichever spell she casts that has the stun on it and profit. Her range is abusive though, and its hard to do that much against her in lane past 6 if she's ahead since you can't E ALL of her skills, assuming she doesn't burst her entire combo while you're in the air. I give this a medium matchup just because of how snowbally the lane is for either side. One kill can translate into numerous kills afterwards.

VS

Brand

Easy

You can dodge his R!!!! lolololololololol
E his very obvious skillshots and kill him? Try not to take too many pillars while CSing, as he'll put the pillar where you'll have to walk to last hit. You can essentially go in on him for free if he ever burns his sear, since its his only form of crowd control before rylais.

VS

Caitlyn

Hard

Fuck this bitch with her dorans blade and infinite sustain and no way to gapclose onto her until you have ult. I literally have 0 input on what to do against her early except start with a cloth armor and never challenge her reign of terror until you get a few levels. Last hit under tower and try to not eat free autos and tell your jungler to sit in the bush. LANESWAPPING IS YOUR FRIEND, TELL YOUR TOP LANER TO SUCK A DICK AND GO MID.

VS

Cassiopeia

Easy

A skill matchup, but you have a lot of room to outplay her. If you E her twin fangs at any point, it will be put on full cooldown. Either E one of those or E her ultimate and you should be fine. She has great zone control if she's good, but nobody plays Cassiopeia and its extremely hard for her to land ulti since your Q will place you behind her. This isn't the worst pick for her though, so don't expect an easy lane.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

Not that hard to deal with, you can push him around with W in early levels, but after a certain point his sustain is too much to handle.

VS

Corki

Medium

he can't really DO anything to you (especially if he's ap) but you can't really do anything to him either since valkyrie is so strong. he has the whole benefit of rediculous early sustain with dorans blade if he's AD, and therefore you won't really be able to do anything without ganks. But he is susceptible to ganks, and if they have an AD mid and top then your team can just stack armor and win mid-late.

VS

Darius

Hard

This guy hurts like shitttttttttttttttttttt
but you outscale him REALLY hard. Jungler gank pls maybe?
running darius mid means that their ap has to go top, which is generally worse for them. You can really outplay him in teamfights, and if you walk close to him with low HP you can just hop over his ultimate, but honestly you should just jump when he gets close since there's very little cast time. He's almost impossible to trade with unless you hit level 2 before him, but the one plus side is that he has to duel you if you gap close onto him, ie call your jungler over and just QW him and E away when you get low. Dodge the hook!

VS

Diana

Hard

Screw this champ.
She can shield herself when you go in on her, and once she hits six, she can push you around.
She's too tanky.

You can win trades if she's standing in your creepwave and you E when she uses her shield, instantly wasting her 3 orbs. bonus points if she whiffs Q at the same time.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

You can trade with him in bursts, and your W crushes his ult. The only thing to worry about is how much damage his autos do early game if he has masochism on.

VS

Elise

Hard

Probably one of the harder match ups since she gets so much free harass. Her W also gives her pretty strong sustained damage, too, so going all in might get you killed more often than not. She can also use repel to dodge your shark, and she leaves pretty little counterplay. To be honest, I hate this champion a lot, but she was just nerfed so I'm not sure how the matchup is now (probably not much better). You can win lane if you burst her and jump out enough times, and manage to get a kill in lane somehow. You can snowball this lane either way very easily.

VS

Evelynn

Easy

If she's bad, you can start W and poke the shit out of her. She can get a lot of Qs off on you though if you're not careful, but you can dodge her ulti if you're good/lucky. You can kill her pretty easily to be fair, and she'll only be able to last hit with Q. you can zone her pretty effectively if you're ahead, but you shouldn't let her get 500 kills bot lane.

VS

Ezreal

Easy

Since his Q and E can't hit you through creeps, all you have to do is stand in your creep wave and he can't harass you without getting wrecked by creep aggro. QW him if he tries to last hit and you know their jungler isn't around, and he'll have to shift away. he's also all skillshots and you can dodge his E with your jump, so it shouldn't be too bad. If he's AP, then all you need to do is dodge his W.He also can't push or roam very well, so you just have to waveclear and go nuts past 9.
Note that if he really wants to, he can farm passively and try to outscale you, so you have to try to push and roam if he plays this far back.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

I'm putting this as easy until I play against a middle fiddle who doesn't just die after channeling drain and you out damaging its heal with W procs. His fear will crush you in teamfights though, so cleanse is a viable option.

VS

Fiora

Easy

An auto attack based champion, which means early armor + your passive means she does very little damage. take armor yellows, start cloth armor/red pot, and if she tries to duel you use your W to kill her passive off, and try to avoid hitting her with autos if she parries. when she ults, press E to dodge a portion of it, since it no longer cancels it completely. You can zhonyas the duration of it however.

VS

Fizz

Hard

THE TRUE ENEMY IS YOURSELF.

Just be the more passive one in the lane. You can E over his E and Ult, and he can do the same to you, so being the more passive makes you win all exchanges.

VS

Galio

Medium

you may be able to push him around early levels, but after a certain point his waveclear is too op and his heal is too strong.

VS

Gangplank

Easy

He literally can't 1v1 you, you can E over his ult, and if you E his parley his 1v1 damage drops enormously. One of the easiest matchups.

VS

Garen

Medium

You can dodge his Q with your E, and you can use its slow to get away from him when he spins to try to follow up. I would give it an easy if it wasn't FUCKING GAREN.

also, ward every bush on the entire map.

VS

Gragas

Medium

His body slam is what you need to watch out for. You can trade autos with him level 1 and come out ahead, but his sustain is pretty crazy if uncontested. If you QW him though, and he bodyslams you without your creeps around, you might die.His Q will also shred your attack speed into nothingness early, so watch out. DODGE HIS ULTI WITH E AND SPAM LAUGH HUE

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

Post-rework, i'll give this matchup a medium. He's one of the squishiest champions in the game, but with his new 3 turrets its very easy to get infinitely shoved in, so try to not let him get set up with all 3 early (run mid and don't let him set up level 1, kill them if he only has 1 up). His turrets are very squishy, so if you see opportunity to kill them with a QW and E away without harass (assuming you have blue) you can kill his push power. You can QW him and E out of his turret's range for easy harass. Post six, he becomes very scary with his ult turret, but it is very easy to bait out his ult and then jump away with little harm, and then wait to all in later.

VS

Irelia

Easy

I feel like she can't do that much to you, since your W will crush her health sustain, and she can't trade early. I don't think you can dodge her stun, but you can cancel it mid animation at least and buy yourself some time. Just start cloth armor and armor yellows and you should be able to outtrade her with autos. You can also E some of her R shots, and your W will destroy her health regen from her ult as well. She also has no escapes, which makes her an easy gank lane.

VS

Janna

Easy

AP janna can't really pressure you as long as you don't get hit by her Q. She'll really only hit you with it if you stand in your creepwave, so don't do that. You can also E both her two damage spells, which have very long cooldowns. If you want to go for the kill though, try to predict when she'll try to ult to push you away. Dodge this, and she has virtually no way of escaping you.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

He does tons of damage, but you can dodge his skills and win trades if you play smart and start enough armor. If he ults you, you can either E out of the ring or walk up to him and use Q to pass out of the ring.

VS

Jax

Easy

It's a skill matchup as per usual, but most jax's combo goes they charge counterstrike, then immediately jump on you and stun you at the same time. This means you can E if you time it correctly, both of the skills, negating over half his moveset. You can also just use the slow from E and run if he pops his ult, and then go back in on him later when his ult is down.

VS

Jayce

Easy

A skill matchup. He has free autos on you early, but his auto attack range is low, which will allow you easy engages with your QW. A good jayce can stop your Q mid flight with his knockback, however, so be careful. I feel this champion isn't as strong as he used to be, so this is a pretty easy match up. He does no damage (except very early with his R weapon switch buff autoes), and if you can stick to him through his disengage he's toast past level 4.

VS

Karma

Medium

She's tanky as balls, has a crazy shield, and a heal for sustain, but you can dodge her shield/wave damage if you bait them out, and you can reduce her heal amount. let it be noted that she can bait you, and tower diving her without planning to do an extra 50% of her health as overkill can lead to you dying. She can probably beat you if she's good, but nobody plays karma so don't worry about it~

VS

Karthus

Easy

KILL HIMMMMMMMMMM
He has no escapes, and you can E over his wall and close the gap. It's also very hard for him to land Qs, so as long as you can tank defile for a while he's screwed.
You can also jump over his ulti and LAUGH

VS

Kassadin

Medium

Post-changes Kassadin might actually have the advantage in this matchup. His Q gives him better poke, and if you ever go for harass on him his spellshield will mitigate a lot of your damage. Even if you use your E to dodge his Q, he can still outtrade you with the shield along with his W enhanced autos and his E. You can theoretically win all-ins, but its dangerous, especially post-6, since his ult gives him incredible mobility and makes you very susceptible to ganks if you play aggressively. He also gets very tanky, making all-ins even more difficult.

Its pretty much a test to see how good he is or not.

VS

Katarina

Medium

A pretty even matchup, you can dodge her Q and W as well as a portion of her ultimate, but in lane you'll get harassed with Q like nobody's business if she's good. She has to chose between farming with Q and harassing with Q though, since if she walks up to the minion wave you can destroy her. You will almost always have more CS than her, and if you take exhaust you can use it on her when she ults. Just start as much sustain as possible and eat harass while farming and you should be fine.

VS

Kayle

Medium

A skill matchup for sure. Use your E to dodge her Q, since it will be what she is maxing most of the time. It's also the only thing you can dodge of hers. Make sure that you don't take too much free harass early though, as her level 1 auto attack damage is unparalleled. Try to bait out her ult, and then put your shark on her while she's invulnerable so that it will pop out and eat her when her ult ends. A QW when she's at low health can get her to use her ult on herself, and then simply shark and ignite and walk away to look like a boss while cleaning up the kill under their tower.
Her ult will screw you over in teamfights though.

VS

Kennen

Medium

Its a skill matchup. You can dodge his Qs with your skills, but if he maxes W he can get a lot of free harass early. It's not that bad, but his ult counters you in teamfights so i'll give it a medium.

VS

Kha'Zix

Easy

He really can't do much against you early as long as you have barrier and he doesn't start red pot. You can also E when he jumps and he'll probably miss leap/W. Your ult also counters his ult since you get vision of whoever the shark eats.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

He can auto attack you essentially for free pre-level 3, but whenever his W is about to go on cooldown you have essentially free reign over the lane, since his E is very easy to dodge and his Q does very little damage. So you can essentially play it like you are playing against Caitlyn early, walking back and avoiding auto harass if she tries, and then you can play more aggressive when his W ends, especially post 6. The matchup is very similar to Lux after a certain point, as he has to stand very far back and farm with E+ult, where you need to pressure him from using his E to stop him from trying to cs. He has no escapes, so if you can dive him you are golden, especially your Q and E will dodge his E and R shots. Lategame it's dive or be poked.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

Do your best not to get silenced and kited with her snare. if you dodge her R though, its gg.She just has a lot of harass in laning early levels.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

An easy match up if you start 1029_32.png and armor yellows, but his suprising damage if he starts redpot/doransblade can instagib you level 1-2 if you're not careful, and he can snowball his lane due to his incredible damage and shields if he gets a significant lead. You can easily trade autos and your grievous wounds from W will destroy his lifesteal/spellvamp. Be aware that you can't dodge the second half of his Q, so dodge the first half if you can.

VS

Lissandra

Easy

She's very squishy, has easy to dodge skillshots, and her escape is questionable considering you can shark her teleport location. Even if she targets you with her ult, you can dodge it if you time it correctly, which i find hilarious. she also just doesn't seem to do that much damage, and her skill ranges aren't that long (besides if she breaks her Q on a minion before hitting you.) Theoretically she could ult herself before your ult pops out of the ground, but you could also do the reverse thing and set urf to eat her once her ult invulnerability finishes. Shouldn't be that bad.

VS

Lucian

Hard

Annoying and hard to gank and most of all very annoying and has lots of poke and is very annoying.

Its pretty much a contest to see if he'll push you out of lane insanely early and deny you enough farm that you can't 100-0 him past 6.

VS

Lulu

Hard

Lulu's harass is super dumb, and fizz gets crushed by shields, which is lulu's specialty. you'll also just get poly'd in teamfights when you jump in, and whoever you burst will get lulu ulted for a billion health. you can outplay her, but its very hard since her E puts pix directly on you for the easy glitterlance followup.

VS

Lux

Easy

She's all skillshots! just move like a ditz so she can't land anything, QW her for tons of harass, and E over her binding for free kills.

VS

Malphite

Easy

He can't really do much to you, and you can bait out his skills and E his damage moves. It helps that malphite doesn't scale with MR like he does with armor, and his attack speed shred doesn't affect you if you trade in bursts. Your w will also make his shield take much longer to regenerate since it is a DoT.

VS

Malzahar

Medium

He has no escapes or CC outside of his ult so if you get ahead of him you'll run him over.

I don't know what else to say, he gets free harass with his Q but nobody fucking plays this champion.

VS

Maokai

Easy

You see very few maokai mids, but if he tries to snare you and you take flash, you can get him into your tower range from almost anywhere in the lane. So if you see him cast his snare, flash towards your tower, E closer to your tower, and when his snare lands you'll slow him and you'll be able to kill him easily. Your W also wrecks his passive.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

You can E his Q if you jump THE MOMENT he casts. You cannot wait for his alpha strike to pass through you, you have to use it while he's casting. This will cause him to stay in place, also causing his Q to go on cooldown, making him useless in teamfights if he targets you or if you were one of the intended bounces. so E the moment he uses alphastrike, ult and W him when he meditates, and wreck him completely.

VS

Mordekaiser

Medium

The problem with morde is that he can shove you extremely hard and can get free harass if you stand near your creepwave. Don't take harass if he can hit your creeps at the same time just because it will keep his shields up, and you can't all in him if he has his shields up. You can win early all ins early with redpot or even without it if you have barrier, but if his jungler is near and you know his jungler is near you can't do anything about it. after a certain point too, he'll get too tanky, but you can win all ins with barrier past 6 if you land ult usually.

VS

Morgana

Medium

She has almost nothing she can do against you since its so easy to dodge her binding with E and Q, and you can just jump away from her ulti as well. The real problem is she has such safe waveclear past level 5 that you can't do much to her if she plays safe.

VS

Nasus

Medium

Its a fairly even lane early, and you can win every trade with him. Your W also mitigates his lifesteal. past 6 though it gets a little bit harder because of his ulti, and he'll outscale you lategame since he's nasus.

VS

Nidalee

Easy

She can't do anything pre 6 She'll throw spears, but if you QW her then you'll be so close to her that her spear won't do any damage, and thats her only move in her kit that scales off of ap. Just QW her for tons of free damage and potential kills. Past 6, her cougar form hurts, but not nearly as much as you do.

VS

Orianna

Medium

This is entirely a skill matchup. A good Orianna can keep chunking you while you try to farm, and keep you at low enough health so that you can't harass her at all. If you dodge her ball and try to all in her, you can come out on top though. You can also dodge her ult. Her autos are extremely painful though.THIS MATCHUP SUCKS BECAUSE SHE HAS A SHIELD THOUGH. If she takes barrier, holy shit you're going to be baited rediculously by her barrier shield +free MR from her ball + chalice MR.

VS

Pantheon

Medium

Pantheon has really only been a pain for me if he's gotten ahead early or if i got tricked in queue and didn't know he was mid. Start cloth armor, get seals of armor, and you can actually trade with him assuming he isn't fed to shit. Take barrier, and if he tries to kill you inside your minion wave you can easily turn the tides. If they have AD top too, just get early wardens/seekers and he literally does no damage. Plus past level 6, you have an entire ult up on him in the all ins.

VS

Quinn

Hard

there is almost nothing you can do against her if she starts dorans blade and adds more/hexdrinker. she has free push early and can just E away from you if you ever try to gap close onto her, but the real issue is that if you don't kill them in an ll in, then you'll both be dropped low, but they'll have more sustain from lifesteal/dorans. the bright side of this matchup is that you outscale her massively if they have a normal bruiser top (they're all ad and you can just stack armor) and that she dies really easily to ganks.

VS

Renekton

Medium

He has a ton of harass, but its definitely a skill match up. you can dodge all of his skills, including his stun (which will go on cooldown if timed right) and barrier can win you some engages. Start cloth 5.

VS

Rengar

Medium

Fizz does pretty well if you know how to play against a rengar, I.E. don't eat a free empowered Q and if he's at or close to full ferocity, try to have your grievous wounds on him to make him healing less annoying. A lot of rengars max bola too, so dodging that can pay off big. Your ult also reveals stealth, so if he tries to use his ult to run you can shark him before he disappears and try to burst him with QW ignite before the shark comes up. Both lanes snowball hard though, and he recieves ganks pretty well with his snare and leap so be careful.

VS

Riven

Medium

was super dumb before the riven nerf, but now that she's not super OP in lane you have a lot of room to outplay her. E her if she tries to QQQ you really fast, dodge important skills and profit. The easiest move of hers to dodge is her third Q, but if you can manage to dodge her stun then you can win trades easily. The only problem is that its very hard to kill riven with damage over time, so you gotta go for it and can't trust in your W Ignite burn damage to finish her.
also take armor seals and maybe start cloth5.

VS

Rumble

Medium

An even matchup. One thing to note is that his flamespitter can hit you while you're invulnerable, so don't rely on it to negate some of his damage. You can get free W autos on him early unless he's smart and starts shield. You just need to know how rumble works;
rumble only does damage with his Q if he's over level 5 and he's over 50% heat,
so essentially you can do whatever you want as long as you don't eat dangerzone fire and overheat punches. Extremely snowbally for either side, so tread with caution.

VS

Ryze

Medium

Farm passively unless you can get free QWs on him, but keep yourself at full hp for as long as you can.
You can ask for a gank when he pushes, and if you get ahead in this matchup, you can kill him every time he comes back from base.

He can win lane if he shows blinding aggression and gives zero fucks for your jungler, and if his jungler counterganks when yours comes.

I put this as a medium though because if he gets ahead, his combo is too much to deal with.

VS

Shen

Medium

You can really push him around as much as you want in very early levels, but at level 5 about his all-in with multiple shields and hp items can actually be really strong, so watch out. At level 6+, you have an ult up on him since his ult doesn't help him fight you, but he has such crazy map pressure that its hard to compare. If you get an early lead on him though, you can snowball the shit out of your lane and deny him from 100% of cs, since if he walks up to the creeps you can just W him. If he gets ahead, its gonna end up with you farming at tower, so its not that bad.

VS

Shyvana

Medium

It's a skill matchup, but she has much more push early than you do. You can beat her straight up as long as you don't sit in burnout, so if she tries to push with it, try to wait for it to go out before you go in on her. She can splitpush you to hell later into the game though, and she can also proxy if she can get you low early on.

VS

Singed

Hard

You can push him around fairly easily for the first 6 levels, but he'll just go all singed on your ass past 6 and be invincible and push you around since he's singed. If you don't get ahead of him pre 6, he'll outscale you.

VS

Sion

Medium

His stun is very easy to dodge, but his shield is soooooo strong it can be tough to make anything happen, especially if he has blue. Its a skill matchup, know when you can go in between his shields and dodge his stuns. its not that bad, he just has ridiculous waveclear and early harass if you get stunned.

VS

Soraka

Hard

BITCH IS EVIL.
incredibly tanky from her passive and from her heals, will keep the lane permapushed with her starcalls (that hurt a lot more than you'd expect) and can silence you in teamfights which will DESTROY YOU.
She's an easy gank lane though, and you can snowball the lane if you get ahead. JUNGLE PLS.
If for some reason you choose to try to fight her, then go in on her in between her starcalls. If she hits you with one, just back off since multiple hits stack damage fast. If she hits you once, and then misses the second time, you can try going in since the MR shred will have dissipated by the time she gets another Q off, greatly increasing your odds of not getting brutally murdered. Her silence should be short, and you'll already be squat on top of her if she silences you, so stick with her and keep autoing (assuming you have enough health.)

VS

Swain

Easy

Just dodge his torment if he's maxing it, he'll do no damage because he won't have the extra magic damage on you.His sustained damage and heal from his ult are also negated by fizz's bursty nature and healing debuff.

VS

Syndra

Hard

The goal in this lane is pretty much do not get chunked to death pre-6, since she vastly outranges you if she plays expertly and she can stun you if you ever dash to her. If she plays badly though by spamming her moves on the creepwave (you see her W the creeps) then it becomes a very easy all-in. I'm just putting the matchup at Hard because at the highest level of play, Syndra wins very hard early. Any small mistakes can let you destroy her though since she's all skillshots pre-6, and baiting out either her W or E make killing her easy.

VS

Talon

Medium

A lot of room to outplay the other person, but I would put it on the easier side of things. He'll max his rake, which you can dodge with your E, almost negating his entire damage output early. Also note that your ult detects stealthed units once it's landed, so a lot of the times you'll ult a talon, and he'll ult to try to escape, but he'll be a sitting duck waiting to be sharked.

VS

Teemo

Easy

Fizz actually does really well against teemo since you can kill him in all ins fairly easily and he can't auto you without being in your Q range. He also lacks any sort of meaningful escape, which means if you get ahead of him the lane is gg. The only problem arises when he gets ahead and starts doing more damage than you do, so don't let that happen and you should be fine.

VS

Tristana

Easy

If she's ap you can easily dodge her ult, which is the lynchpin of her kit. Her jump is also not very good at avoiding your shark, just because her jump's cast time is so long.

VS

Trundle

Medium

You can win duels with him very early, especially since if you QW him and then E (using the slow to run), then you can trade all of these skills just for one of his autoes+Qs.

VS

Tryndamere

Medium

Tryndamere's early damage is pretty nutty if he crits you, but you can easily win trades if you start cloth armor and don't let him hit you when he has a full bar of fury. Your W will negate his healing, and you can easily disengage with him if you're scared and he spins onto you. Bring barrier so you have health advantage as well, and you can probably bait him into a bad engage since you'll have ignite+barrier and he'll probably only have ignite. Just make sure he doesn't hit level 2 while you're still level 1 if you don't get E first, since you won't have an effective way to run from him. Past six I'd say its probably better for Fizz, just because if he pops his ulti you can just ignite him a couple of seconds into his ult and let your ignite+W finish him off, and you can run from him with your E and shark.

VS

Twisted Fate

Medium

You can dodge his Pick-a-Card, but in early levels of lane, doing so and QW'ing him might get you kited while you try to disengage. Your all in completely destroys his though. Try to outroam him and countergank his ganks.

VS

Udyr

Medium

He's really tanky, but he's not impossible to trade with. You also have a longer auto range than he does if I remember correctly, and his damage is pretty easy to build against now (stack armor) since his Q got changed. His bear punch counters you in teamfights though, so watch out.

VS

Veigar

Medium

You can E his skills very easily, and if he doesn't put 3 points into stun then he'll never be able to land a dark matter on you. It's easy for him to set up ganks on you though, since if you try to E every single one of his Qs, you'll easily get boxed. You also can no longer hop over the stun, since trying to will stun you in mid-air.  You can also E his ult and spam laugh, but lategame if you get hit by that shit you'll probably take around ~2200 damage just because I don't build MR early. BOOM ONESHOTKO

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy

Velkoz has to land three abilities in a row to deal meaningful damage from his passive, so you just can't get hit by multiple abilities in a row, which should be easy since you have a Q to dash, an E to dodge, and high movement speed, it shouldn't be an issue. He has more poke, but it doesn't do meaningful damage unless he maxes it, and if he maxes it then you'll have more waveclear with your E. He also has no escapes, and your ult will cancel his, so there's not much he can do against you if you're ahead.

Will edit if I ever play the matchup in high elo and change my mind or have more to add.

VS

Viktor

Medium

There's room to outplay him since he's all skillshots except for his Q (which has travel time so you can still E it) but he does so much early and can instagib you past level 6 if you're not careful. Viktor is a hidden OP, so be careful. He lacks mobility, so ganking him is easy, especially since you can jump over his stun field.

VS

Vladimir

Medium

Before when everyone had to start boots +3 pots, fizz absolutely shat on vlad. one QW would wreck his sustain, and he would have to back enough times for you to build a substantial lead. Now though, if the vlad starts 9-11 hp pots, you're not going to be able to get a kill if he plays passively, or you'll get ganked if you overextend trying to harass him. You'll win every trade up to level 9, but when vlad hits level 9 in any matchup its GG because of his Q sustain. It's really a get ahead early or die match-up.

VS

Volibear

Medium

I think he has the advantage, just because he deals so much more damage than you would expect (bite soooooooo strong), and he deals so much mixed damage that stacking armor will let his ult and E obliterate you. He also sets up ganks for his jungler fantastically, and he can easily bait you since although your W hurts his passive, he still has a surprise 20% health and can build super tanky. If you get a lead you can pressure him though, and you can always choose your engages by running if he Qs.

VS

Warwick

Medium

You win all trades, and I believe you have longer auto range than him, and your W will cut his sustain in half, which is huge for trades and for his lane sustain. You also have infinitely more mobility and he can't run from a gank in any way if nobody has half health on your team. The only reason this matchup is difficult is that past 6, their jungler has a very, very easy time killing you in combination with warwick's ult, but in a fair 1v1 you dictate the matchup.

VS

Xerath

Easy

You can dodge his stun, and your Q will cause him to miss some of his skillshots, so it shouldn't be that bad.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Yasuo, when played ideally, will beat you pre-6 since he can kite you unbelievably with his Q, just by running away from you and spamming it backwards, and then chasing you when you give up. He's also manaless, so wasting your mana to trade with him through his passive is kind of worthless until 6, so try to avoid engages out of your creepwave. Post-6 though, you should have a definite advantage, since you can use your Q and E to dodge his knock-up, and if he ever lands it and you think he'll win the all-in, you can just use your E to disengage, allowing you to pick only winning engages, especially when you are up an ultimate.

VS

Zac

Medium

He doesn't do a whole lot of damage, but its very sustained and its hard to push him out of lane. I could see this matchup being potentially very very hard for fizz since you can't chunk him out of lane easily, and since he gets so much free harass from his Qs. If you don't dodge most of his skills, you could be in for a world of hurt. Try to dodge at least one of his ult bounces too~ (pro tip for killing him through his passive: auto each blob once and then E them when they're close to each other!)

VS

Zed

Medium

He just can't do that much to you, to be honest. His Q is very hard to land on you, and his E also got nerfed so that it does less damage, letting you win a lot of all ins (assuming you have barrier up.) He still does high damage though and his E is on a very short cooldown, so play with some caution. His ult is also the easiest ult to dodge in the game, and it goes on full cooldown and deals no damage. LOLWUT

VS

Ziggs

Medium

Skill matchup. Maybe lenient towards the easy side, but he has high auto attack range and can auto you freely while harassing with Q. if you close the gap he can put mines down, but you can still kill him if he fails.

VS

Zilean

Easy

He can't do anything to you since he has essentially two damaging moves (double bomb) and you can guaranteed dodge at least one of them by E'ing as it explodes. He also can't disengage easily since his slow doesn't impair your gap closers. It should be noted that he can counter you in teamfights though, so the easy difficulty is only to denote laning phase.

VS

Zyra

Easy

I really like the fizz VS zyra matchup. Zyra's whole kit revolves around her snare, and essentially rooting you in place while her plants destroy you. This is a huge problem for her, since you can dodge her snare so easily with your E, and if you gapclose onto her, your Q makes you even harder to hit since it'll put you behind her and most players won't be able to fire the snare backwards accurately. You can also use your Q creatively to place yourself out of her ulti to stop getting knocked up, and you can 100-0 her at almost any point in the laning phase. all you really need to worry about is taking too much harass from her Qs, since if you see her fire her snare you can just all in her. Her plants are also FREE GOLD since your Q oneshots them (fizz's Q oneshots zyra plants because it counts as a spell (two healthbars) as well as procing on hit (another healthbar), so if you see her put out a plant, just Q it for 5 gold.

Who is Maulface? Back to Top

I used to be gold in s2, hovering around 1700-1800 Elo. I got from 1200 to 1600 just with jungle 29_icon_64.png when i started playing ranked, but that strategy gets harder and harder to use the higher you get in the ranks. My main champions after that were 120_icon_64.png top, 9_icon_64.png jungle, 115_icon_64.png mid, 105_icon_64.png mid, and 117_icon_64.png support. When s3 preseason rolled around, I began to play Fizz almost exclusively. I ran 14.png12.png after I was inspired by Wingsofdeathx's comments on teleport on 33_icon_64.png, and how his counterganks were unbeatable and how he could just keep farming the jungle. I thought that that strategy would be great on 105_icon_64.png (since he doesn't need flash), and I had a lot of fun running around the map, ganking lanes with homeguard, and winning games. There are times when your team will yell at you for going negative, and they'll say things like "never call mid again" and the works, but its important to always keep on learning and practicing. The more Fizz I played, the more I learned his damage and how much I can do at any given point in the game. After climbing to 2k Elo, I couldn't play other champions as effectively as the fish, and I had to learn how to play him Top just in case I didn't get mid. I dropped 12.png for 21.png just because getting all in'd and ganked early levels was destroying my early game and losing my lane, and i learned how strong 21.png was when going for a kill or diving a tower. I was placed in Platinum 1 at the start of S3, and have been climbing my way up with the Fish in hand. I am currently in Diamond 1.

Fizz: Why Pick and Play Me? Back to Top

Fizz in an incredibly fun and high skillcap champion that can be incredibly fun and rewarding to play. His extreme burst and slippery nature can make him both the biggest threat on your team as well as the hardest threat to pin down. He can be used as counterpicks to champions like 134_icon_64.png and 30_icon_64.png, but can also stand toe to toe with the toughest of bruisers like 58_icon_64.png. Nothing feels more rewarding than canceling 254_icon_64.png's Ult or than dodging 32_icon_64.png's Curse. He can carry teamfights even when your team is down, simply by landing a shark on an unsuspecting fed carry like 21_icon_64.png and bursting her before her team has time to respond, and allowing your team to follow up.

This build is very squishy though, and you can throw teamfights just as easily as you can carry them. Getting snared by a 13_icon_64.png and then getting stunlocked until your death can lose you games, especially if you're the one carrying.

Don't pick fizz if their entire team is made of tanky bruisers with high cc, just because fizz is great at destroying squishies and struggles against high crowd control comps. 77_icon_64.png's bear fists will wreck you sideways in teamfights, as when you try to QW him he instantly stuns you. Fizz is the only champion i can play at my elo now though, so i'll probably do it anyway.

Early Game Back to Top

The most important thing is to learn how much damage you can deal and how much you can take at any point throughout the laning phase. Knowing if the next 27_icon_64.png Fling will kill you or put you in a position to kill him or not can be crucial to your early game. I play passively for the first few levels just because of how strong jungle pressure is though most of the time. If they have a 57_icon_64.png or 64_icon_64.png jungle, and you go aggressive, you will die.

When last hitting as fizz early, what you want to do most of the time is stay near the back until their creeps get low. Then you want to run up to the low creeps, last hit, and then run back. This is because you don't want to take too much free harass, such as from 61_icon_64.png's autos and such. This is how you last hit on most melee champions mid. Taking an auto or two for a minion is worth it, especially since you started so many potions, along with how creep aggro works.

Creep Aggro is your best friend early.

As long as you have enough minions with you, don't be afraid to take auto harass in order to farm. Say a 42_64.png wants to auto attack you for harass. If you have your entire creep wave next to you (or at least the caster minions) you can simply eat an auto attack and then walk back to your caster minions. The minions will aggro 42_64.png, and if he continues to walk forward and auto you, I can guarantee that he'll end up taking more damage (even just from minions) than he'll end up doing to you early. Now say he completely walks past his own melee minion line to auto you a third time. If you QW to him at this point, then you will have more minions hitting him than he has hitting you (plus fizz passive >:O!), and you'll also be hitting him yourself, and if he doesn't Valkyrie/flash out, he could die. Now he's at half health, almost OOM, and he knows he can't auto you for free. This is why a high sustain start is good; you can trade/cs without fear of taking too much harass unpunished, and sustain it all back while they may not be able to if they started a less absurd amount of pots. If he autos down your entire melee minion line and runs up to you when he has a full minion wave VS just some of your casters, then you should just wait for your next minion wave to come in. Eating autos when he has that kind of creep advantage really would be free harass; your minions won't do enough for you to want to just sit there and take it, and if you QW him now, then his creeps will shit on you. So have patience, wait for your next wave to come in, and he'll probably be over extended at this point, so call your jungler over or just let him know he's in danger of a gank. If he gets all of your minions down super fast, just last hit under tower.

Try to learn how to last hit under tower as Fizz too, since many champions will push you early. You don't need to activate W to oneshot caster minions, as long as you have at least a point in it and auto them early enough your DoT will tick enough for them to die. You can pop W if you need to, and you can use Q to last hit. Don't be afraid to QW them and maybe land E if you can in lane, just because starting that many pots will allow you to sustain their counterattack. Just try to stay topped off and you should be fine in most scenarios.

Mid Game Back to Top

Remember that you have barrier, which means you can almost always 1v1 the enemy as long as they didn't start redpot. In extremely close duels with bruisers, you have to remember two things: You have DoT from your W, and you have better auto attack range than them most of the time. This means that if you are both 1 hit or 2 hits from dying, stepping backwards will allow your DoT to tick, and you can hit your auto before them. This can lead to some clutch moments, and fizz's extra auto attack range often allows you to land that final auto attack on a running target. Fighting within minions also helps benefit you because of your passive, and if you ever need to run away from an enemy, you can kite them with creepblock.

Once you know you do enough damage to kill them, or once they know that they can die in an all-in just by walking to close to you, you should begin to take complete control of the lane and the game. If you know you can instagib them, just walk toward them and see if they move far enough back, and if they do just walk back to farming creeps. This way you can zone them; if they walk into range of you, you can QW them and potentially get a kill, and now they have to farm exclusively with their skills since their auto attack range isn't long enough to hit you or your creeps for free(unless they're 51_64.png/1_64.png/34_64.png). Landing a QW will force them to use an escape immediately (Valkyrie/ridiculous mana escapes/flash) or take too much damage and die. Now they can't farm, since walking up to your creeps is putting them in danger of dying, and they have to waveclear from afar Lux-style. If you make it to this point, you don't need to force the all-in; simply zoning them away from the creeps while cs-ing is usually enough, and can allow you to flop on the wave and roam or zone them from creeps under tower (if you know where their jungler is and you don't have mana issues). If they're under their tower and you have a minion wave built up, you can QW them and E out of tower range assuming you have blue buff, allowing you to get a full combo off on them while only taking a single tower hit or maybe less, depending on how well you do it (just don't get snared under tower while taking tower shots!!). If their jungler happens to be near enough to them to react, or if they have a 98_64.png, your reduced cooldown from maxing your E first will usually be enough to run; just jump as many walls as you can and try not to get boxed in by enemies. Just know your limits and know what you can and cannot get away with.

Also be careful not to take free creep damage when their minions are walking to lane, so if you're standing in their creep wave and some of your minions are about to die and cause the creeps to aggro you (or new creeps come to lane), move back and wait for the creeps to aggro each other, then walk back in.

I go into more detail in the item's section on early/mid game, but the key thing is to roam around levels 7 and up. Fizz's unparalleled ability to dive towers should be used to its fullest extend. Tank tower to start off dives, and shift the turret's aggro to one of your teammates with your E when you feel threatened. You can win games just by having map pressure, even if you lose your lane. Look for lanes that you can clean up kills in, look for places where your teammates are low and might get dived so that you can counter it (or at least clean up) and look for places where you can dive for kills. The battlefield is your playground! Use E in the jungle to avoid enemy wards, juke people, with E, and turn the tides of battles whenever you can. Even just leaving lane and starting to roam bot can relieve a huge amount of pressure from your laners; at high levels of play, their bot lane will back off if they see you start to move bot. Having this kind of pressure means that if your bot lane was once losing, now they can go even since the enemy bot lane can't go aggressive without you coming down and snatching weaves.

Teamfights Back to Top

For the most part, you'll want to stick with your AD carry and focus the bruisers. The easiest way to lose the game lategame is trying too hard to kill their carry, landing your ult on him, and right after you QW him he Quicksilver Sashes your ult, and you get raped by his entire team.
But generally you want to try to ult their carry/as many people as possible, im just saying don't go balls to the wall trying to kill him unless he's isolated or he's one of the last 2 people alive and you're sure you won't get CC locked.
Generally QW their bruiser or support or tank or whoever, and E out of the teamfight before you get instagibbed. Try to use the second half of your E to land on their bruiser, slowing him and preventing him from raping your carry while still allowing you to be safe from the rest of their team. If your AD is carrying, don't be afraid to ult whoever is trying to dive him.

Know your damage. Once you get3135_32.png, and god forbid 3089_32.png, your QW 14.png might actually oneshot their carry. It can be worthwhile to E close to him, QW and ignite him and then immediately 3157_32.png if you know he'll die. Then just wade out of the teamfight with your 21.png on and hope you can make it out.

Flanking the enemy team can also be very effective, putting you in a position to attack their AD Carry while their team is distracted.

Side Note: Jungle Fizz/Tank Fizz Back to Top

Although I don't prefer it in any way over other (better) junglers, I feel its viable to play 105_64.png in the jungle (not as an assassin though,) and I do play it when we somehow screw up the champ select to have no junglers after I'm already locked in. Although you can build 105_64.png as an assassin from the jungle, its better to build tanky since most top laners don't serve as enough of a tank for you to build straight damage (tanky 60_64.png is much better than building ap on her when jungling for the same reason.) Fizz is also very viable as a straight tank due to his W being % health execute, meaning it will shred tanks and squishy low champions no matter what you build. Tank fizz is also very viable due to his passive negating so much damage when you have a lot of armor early, since the negated damage from autos is applied after your resists.
When I go Jungle 105_64.png, I like to go 11.png14.png, just because I feel its better to win duels with and how unnecessary flash is on 105_64.png, and just because 14.png is so good on him. You can also run 4.png or 6.png, but I prefer 14.png.

My skill order is W -> E -> Q, although it is just as good to max E if you have a mid that doesn't need bluebuff like 55_64.png. My reasoning is because of how single target based jungling is, maxing W gives you the best clear (and gank damage) without having to deplete all of your mana spamming Trickster. After maxing W I max E because Rito nerfed Urchin Strike into oblivion lol

I start 1039_32.png2003_32.png, and clear like any other low sustain jungler by doing gromp/blue/wolves and basing for 3715_32.png. I use the same runes that I use when against bruisers, being Hybrid Reds, Armor Yellows, AP per Level Blues, and AP Quints. Hybrid damage is the best since you'll be autoing creeps non-stop and its better for clear/ganks and ap per level/ap quints are still dominant since they scale the best out of all glyphs on fizz, although I could see attack speed reds/magic resist per level/movement speed quints being good. 21/9/0 the first being much better lategame while the latter is slightly better early (think 64_64.png or 60_64.png,) although in the end its preference. Get magic penetration in offense, and standard stuff everywhere else (especially reduced damage from turrets.) The difference between the 4 points in attack speed VS cooldown reduction in offense is negligible, but attack speed is probably more helpful since it will give you better early jungle clear.

The only real difference between his ganks and others are that his ganks are higher damage but less crowdcontrol unless you can land a playful on them, similar to 35_64.png. You can use your E to bypass wards very easily if your lanes keep track of the placement of them, such as E'ing over Baron wall to bypass wards for top lane or mid lane, as well as hopping drag wall (on blue side usually) or hopping over the river wall/blue buff walls.

Jungle Fizz/Tank Fizz Item Build Back to Top

I go 11.png14.png when i jungle Fizz, just because, as stated before, i feel that 4.png is not necessary. Ignite is also key to finishing off foes combined with your bleed, and can help you either snowball games or help you 1v1 and dive people in teamfights. For items, I like to start off with 3709_32.png+3020_32.png, since cinderhulk is incredibly standard on tank junglers. I then build to counter the enemy team, like how you always should; 3001_32.png (for damage when needed) and 3082_32.png->3143_32.pngare very good when the enemy's dealing primarily AD damage, and 3110_32.png can be a solid choice if they have all AD champions (think bruisers mid like 238_64.png and 64_64.png.) Combining this with a 3075_32.png will mean you have 400+ armor, and you cannot be 1v1d by any AD champ, since you have 30% attack speed slow, 400+ armor, thornmail damage reflection, and your bleed with 14.png. If the enemy is dealing primarily magic damage, 3102_32.png, 3190_32.png, and 3091_32.png (for damage when needed) are all very good choices. 3091_32.png is my favorite damage item on tank fizz, just because it shreds MR for your passive bleed to benefit off of greatly. Plus its a lot of fun ^_^! You can also get a 3026_32.png since it's a very solid item and can allow you to escape with E after dying.

Jungle Fizz/ Tank Fizz in Teamfights Back to Top

In teamfights, your primary role is to soak damage while still being a nuisance to the enemy team. The ideal way to play the teamfight is to go on their carry, then when their carry burns an escape (or hopefully a panic flash or heal) you can E away from them instead of pursuing to go back and help your team, forcing them to walk back to the teamfight and allowing you to 4v5 the rest of their team for a couple of seconds. If their team completely abandons their carry and you think you can 1v1 them then go for it, but its probably better to get back and peel for your team since you're the tank. It can be very powerful to make their AD waste time without you having to sustain damage, since this is essentially zoning away their team's main damage source. And as always, make smart decisions; know when to baron and do drag since your W will shred them both very well, and know how much you can combo smite for (QW smite burst damage.) You can also have a fair shot at stealing baron since you can R baron for vision, then E QW smite over the pit wall into baron for the steal, although you'll 100% die if your entire team isn't ready to back you up.

Try to come with specific questions, like "what do i do when their mid does this" and stuff. It's hard to answer "how2fizz" easily. The comments below also have a lot of information in them, so you can sift through them and see if you didn't know something in there.
