Summoner Spells Back to Top

For summoner spells you always want to have 4.png. This ability is crucial because it enables important combos for Fizz throughout the game. You want to run 14.png vs. most matchups in which you have kill potential. The only time I would use 3.png is vs. a melee assassin like Zed or Talon, where you can negate a major part of their burst potential with exhaust. Teleport on midlane Fizz is not recommended in soloQ due to the worse snowball potential of early kills with ignite.

New Runes Back to Top

Electrocute.png?width=32 is the bread and butter Rune for Fizz right now as it increases his assassin potential by a mile. After that you want to get Sudden Impact which synergizes well with his fizze.png. Zombie ward on sololaners makes you have extremely high ward uptime which makes you have more safety farming and Ingenious Hunter is really good for reducing 3152.png and 3157.png CD in mid/lategame. After that your second tree is optional between Sorcery or Inspiration - I prefer a more aggressive rune setup with Transcendence and Scorch for more lane pressure.

Masteries Back to Top

There are a few mastery pages you can run on Fizz, that mostly depend on your personal playstyle. You want to make short trades as Fizz before you're able to all-in a target in lane, which Thunderlord's Decree thoroughly helps with. Other than that it's pretty standard with Natural Talent to boost your stats and Double-Edged Sword for extra damage.

You want to start fizze.png vs. almost all matchups (W start is a possibility vs. melees if you know the matchup). After that grab a point in your fizzw.png for a really strong lvl 2 spike with E->auto-Ignite->Auto(W). Grab your fizzq.png lvl 3 and after that max R>E>W>Q.

Situational Items

If you are feeling like really going ham

Standard starting item on Fizz will always be Doran's Ring if you are playing against a normal mage such as 61.png or 112.png. On your first back you optimally want to get a 3145.png2031.pngand a 1082.png. After you have these 3 items you have great sustain in lane and insane damage with your poke/allin from Revolver.

After these early core items your build can go in many directions. Facing a heavy AD team such as 238.png 59.png? Get an early 3157.png. Feel fine in lane and want to get a bit more utility? 3152.png is the item for you. Feel like you want a really early damage powerspike after finishing your Revolver? Get a 3100.png asap. After your first core item+Revolver, get 3020.png to further amplify your damage which should net you a free kill at level 6 with your ultimate.

After you have your core items (3020.png3152.png3100.png3157.png) completed, you most likely wanna go for a 3135.png to really amplify your damage and have a greater splitpush threat vs. the enemies tanks. If the enemies only have squishy champions, going for a 3089.png is a fine choice too. If INCREDIBLY ahead, I have sometimes went for a 3285.png to just further amplify my damage with a cheaper powerspike than Rabadons. Round out your build with the item you didn't complete.

VS

Ahri

Medium

This matchup is not difficult if you can dodge her ahriseduce.png with your fizzjump.png reliably. If she saves her E and plays patiently for you to miss-use your E however, she can get an easy Charm on you followed by her all-in. You want to poke her in lane by walking up to her and forcing her Charm, if she doesn't Charm you just pop your fizzseastonepassive.png and start autoattacking her. If she just runs away and doesn't try to trade back, try to zone her off her minions if the lane is at a point where you can do it. Otherwise you want to farm until level 6 and try to hit your fizzmarinerdoom.png on her followed by an E-Q-W combo, where you use your fizzseastonepassive.png mid fizzpiercingstrike.png animation to maximise the duration of it.

VS

Anivia

Easy

This matchup is similar to Ahri, except that Anivia is much less mobile. Like in the Ahri matchup, you want to avoid using your fizzjump.png until she uses her CC (in this case it's Anivias flashfrost.png). You want to have the same harrass pattern as in the matchup with Ahri pre-6, using your fizzseastonepassive.png-empowered autoattacks to force her into doing poor trades. When you start seeing the flashfrost.png-animation you want to use your fizzjump.png instantly and either land on her for massive damage or back off if you're in danger of a turret or gank.

Post level 6 you have easy kills on her with your fizzmarinerdoom.png. If she walks close enough for you to ult her, don't be scared to use it and follow it up with an Q-W combo (you can use your fizzjump.png either before or after the Q-W combo, you want to use it before if you're sure you can guarantee the kill and escape with your life, or after if you can't kill her and want to back off). If this combo doesn't kill her, it will atleast bring her low enough to force her to go back to base, which gives you time to pressure other lanes/invade enemy jungle with your jungler or take the mid turret.

VS

Annie

Hard

A good Annie will be difficult to beat as Fizz 1vs1. This is due to the fact that her whole burst comes during the time when you're stunned from her passive, which makes your fizzjump.png much less valuable than it is in other matchups. Your goal as Fizz playing against Annie is to survive until level 6, and try to get jungle assistance if possible. When she has less than 3 stacks of her passive, you want to try to Q-W her followed by an E to back and stop the trade. An experienced Annie will sit on 3 stacks if she wants to stun you, and use her moltenshield.png while her disintegrate.png is flying towards you. You can't let her disintegrate.png-stun land on you once in this matchup, both pre and post-6, as it will get followed up by her incinerate.png and a few autoattacks, which will leave you around 50% health.

You want to rush 3001.png in this lane as early as possible, because Annie's abilities only deal Magic damage and it will help you survive her all-ins. Try to stay even in farm for as long as possible, and try to out-roam her post-6 and you have done a good job in this matchup.

VS

Azir

Easy

This is one of your easiest matchups in the midlane. Azir is a medium-ranged mage who relies on poke to force you out of lane. As Fizz in this matchup you want to trade with your Q-W combo and follow it up with an aggressive fizzjump.png every time you have them off cooldown. Azir has no innate way to stop you from trading with him pre-6. This combined with his lack of burst makes him a very easy target for you throughout the game. The only time when Fizz can die is when his E is on cooldown, and Azir doesn't have enough damage output or CC to stop you from toying with him. Post-6 this matchup becomes even easier, as you can dodge his azirR.png pretty easily with your fizzjump.png. Any time your fizzmarinerdoom.png is up, you want to throw it at him and start running towards him. 9/10 times he will cast his ult towards you as you're running at him, making you able to just fizzjump.png over his wall and follow it up with your W, a few autos, and Q away to safety after he is dead. If he doesn't use his ult before he gets knocked up by your fizzmarinerdoom.png, you want to use ur Q-W combo on him and start autoing until he ults you away, which makes you able to then fizzjump.png over his wall and finish him off. Overall you have full control over this matchup; which makes it a very fun matchup for Fizz.

VS

Brand

Hard

This can be a very tricky matchup for Fizz. The reason for this is because ALL of Brand's abilities are a threat to Fizz; you can't simply dodge one with your fizzjump.png and get away with it. If you dodge his brandfissure.png with your fizzjump.png in lane, he will simply walk up to you and brandconflagration.png-brandblaze.png you. Sure, you can dodge his brandblaze.pngwith your fizzpiercingstrike.png by going through him or a minion, but a good Brand will save his brandblaze.pnguntil after you've used both your fizzjump.png and fizzpiercingstrike.png, so you're an easy target for his stunned brandblaze.png. Pre-6 you want to try to dodge his W without using your fizzjump.png, and after that trade with your Q-W combo and follow it up with either an aggressive E and land on his face, or back off and end the trade.

The trickiest part of this matchup is actually not in lane, but in teamfights. If you don't have 3157.png up in every teamfight, Brand can easily trade his life for yours whilst AoE'ing most of your team down. Unless you can instagib him with your R->E->Q->W combo, he will throw down all of his spells on you followed by a brandwildfire.png that will bounce around. If you're isolated and it doesn't hit your team you can most likely win the teamfight, however if it's a clumped up teamfight you have to react fast enough to his R cast and nullify it with your 3157.png to make sure your team doesn't take 2000~ damage which could win them the fight.

Overall, you need to know your damage output at each stage of the game vs. Brand, and try to become a bigger threat than him in teamfights. You need to have quick fingers and dodge as many abilities as you can with your fizzpiercingstrike.png, fizzjump.png and 3157.png in order to win consistently vs. Brand, which can be a difficult task to say the least. Your goal as Fizz vs. Brand is to outroam him post-6 and find isolated fights with him/another carry where his brandwildfire.pngwon't bounce around too much.

VS

Diana

Medium

This matchup is actually quite difficult for Fizz. Diana is a champion who functions a lot like Fizz, in terms of dueling potential and catch opportunities. Diana has better consistant damage than Fizz though, due to her passive and dianaW.png shield. Pre-6 you can harass her with a simple W-Q combo followed by an aggressive or defensive E depending on where the fight is taking place in the lane. If you are in save distance of her turret, you want to use your E aggressively if you have proper information of where the enemy jungler is from wards/minimap information. Post-6 is where this matchup becomes difficult. In order for you to kill Diana post-6, you have to dodge her dianaQ.png with either sidestepping it or using fizzjump.png whilst landing on her. If you didn't use your fizzmarinerdoom.png before she Q'd you, use it after you landed on her with your fizzjump.png immediately. The tricky part here is that you have to kill her before her dianaQ.png comes back from being on cooldown. This is extremely important because otherwise she will guarantee using her ultimate twice in the trade, one of the dianaR.png being after she hit her Q on you. You want her to use maximum one charge of dianaR.png on you, and if you can manage this you will win most duels with her. If she somehow gets ahead pre-6 with jungle pressure/a misplay by you, the most optimal thing is to try to farm as much as possible and outroam her when you have the chance. In lategame teamfights you want to try to avoid focusing her as she will most likely have a 3157.png like you. Either focus the bruiser frontline or go for their second carry, which is most likely their marksman.

VS

Ekko

Medium

Pre-6 is where this matchup favours you as Fizz. You want to end every trade with Ekko before he gets 3 stacks of his passive on you, so simple Q-W and either aggressive/defensive fizzjump.png will win most trades for you. Post-6 it's practically impossible for you to kill him, as he can always dodge away from your fizzmarinerdoom.png with his own ekkoR.png and heal up from it. The only way you can kill him is if his ekkoR.png ghost is placed on the spot where you trade, and you fizzmarinerdoom.png him and follow it up with fizzseastonepassive.png empowered autoattacks. The moment he dodges your fizzmarinerdoom.png damage with his own ultimate, you fizzjump.png and land on his face. You always have to be careful of his ekkoW.png, both the active effect which makes you stunned if you stand in it when it pops, and the passive effect which makes you take extra damage when low on health.

Overall your goal in this lane is to bully him pre-6 and try to outroam/invade enemy jungle/take his turret post-6.

VS

Karthus

Medium

Despite what you may think, this lane can be very hard as a Fizz. Basically Karthus job in this matchup is very much like Brands; to do a lot of damage to you/your team while you kill him. In lane this matchup can be very snowballed towards Fizz side if you get an early edge however, because you can easily control the trades much better than him with your kit. Try to abuse his weak mobility by dodging a lot of his laywaste.png with either sidestepping, fizzpiercingstrike.png or your fizzjump.png.

Post-6 you want to fizzmarinerdoom.png him whenever you are in range and he's not sitting under turret at full Health, and follow it up with a Q-W combo and either fizzjump.png to finish him off or fall back. If he sits extremely far back during the entire lanephase, you want to abuse it by pushing the lane quick and use your superior roaming-potential to screw up their jungler/other lanes. In lategame fights Karthus' job is to deal as much damage as possible whilst dying in your team with his passive up. Your job is to either kill him when he's separated from your team, or burst him down and use your 3157.png to block his fallenone.png from hitting you. If he trades his life for yours in fights however; it always favours the Karthus as he has sick AoE damage with his ult and defile.png, whilst your damage is primarily single-target.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

This matchup isn't too bad for Fizz pre-6 because he lacks mobility, however after Kassadin hits 6 it will be quite tricky for you to land all of your spells on him due to his riftwalk.png. Therefore you want to pressure him as hard as possible in lane pre-6 and get an advantage either by forcing him out of lane or trying to coordinate a gank with your jungler to secure a kill. Your goal in this lane is to, as I said, harass the Kassadin extremely hard before he hits level 6. Don't be scared to go for a Q-W->few autos whenever he is in position to take it. Be careful of the stacks of his forcepulse.png though, as the slow can catch you off-guard if you don't have your fizzjump.png up and can use it to escape him. After level 6 you want to use your superior pushing power with fizzjump.png, and try to roam in to the enemy jungle/botlane. Kassadin has quick and effective roams, probably even better than Fizz, but he has a really hard time clearing his lane quickly due to his poor earlygame damage from forcepulse.png and riftwalk.png. Use this to your advantage. In teamfights Kassadin will most likely have a 3157.png like you, so he won't be a priority target for you initially (unless he mis-positions with his riftwalk.png on cooldown). If he doesn't build 3157.png then you can try to assassinate him, but be aware of his ultimate at every point so you don't just throw your fizzmarinerdoom.png at him and he dodges it with his riftwalk.png.

VS

Kayle

Medium

This is a lot like the Kassadin matchup for Fizz. You have to harass him early with your Q-W-a few autoattacks pre-6 and abuse your fizzjump.png to back off after you've chunked him a bit. Once he hits 6, this matchup becomes a lot harder because Fizz is a bursty assasin and Kayle can block all of your burst with her kayleR.png. The trick here is to not BURST Kayle like in regular matchups, but try to force her ultimate early from your non-ultimate spells. A simple Q-W-Auto-E combo will get her to around 40% even after level 6, so do that combo twice on her without using your own ult, and she will be forced to use her kayleR.png the second time you combo her without using your fizzmarinerdoom.png. If she didn't go to base after using her ultimate and being quite low, you can all-in her with your R-Q-W-Auto-E combo and secure the kill easily.

Your goals for this matchup is to harass her early and get an advantage pre-6. After 6, if she plays it smart and doesn't let you trade effectively with her by using her kayleW.png to escape your fizzjump.png if you use it aggressively, you want to look to roam in to the enemy jungle or bot/toplane. Kayle pushes waves quickly though, so make sure you pushed your wave in the midlane properly before roaming so you don't miss a whole wave/turret damage.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

In this matchup it's extremely important that you don't give the earlygame power to LeBlanc. You have to take extremely aggressive trades pre-6 vs. LeBlanc, or she will simply poke you to death with her Q-W combo. After she does a Q-W combo, you want to start running towards her leblancslide.png cast-spot, and wait for her to either return to it or stay aggressively in your minion-wave. If she stays in your minionwave and doesn't return because she sees your going there, dodge her leblancsoulshackle.png with your fizzjump.png and start using your fizzseastonepassive.png-empowered autoattacks on her. If she doesn't use her chain immediately, just start autoattacking her with W up and dodge it with your fizzjump.png when you see the animation windup starting. You want to force long trades with LeBlanc where she can't just poke you and make you submissive, because that's when your fizzseastonepassive.png damage really outshines hers. If you're having trouble in this lane buy an early 3001.png to remain in control. Post-6 this matchup is a bit tricky and you have to pick up on her trading patterns really quickly. Is she using Q-R-W to poke you or Q-W-R? If she uses the previously mentioned combo, you have to dodge her Mimiced leblancchaosorb.png with your fizzjump.png and wait for your E to come back off cooldown before you trade with her again. If she uses the Q-W-R combo, you have to dodge her Mimiced leblancslide.png and wait for your E to come back off cooldown.

Your goal in this matchup is to take long and aggressive trades with her pre-6, whilst avoiding her leblancsoulshackle.png as much as possible with your fizzjump.png and landing on her when her leblancslide.png is on cooldown. Post 6 you have to notice her trading patterns and understand/see what combo she will use on you to poke you down. In teamfights you can fizzmarinerdoom.png her if you see that she uses her leblancslide.png aggresively by using it on the spot where she W'd from. She either has to stay in a really aggressive position and fight you/your team, or she goes back to her W clone and gets hit by your fizzmarinerdoom.png right in the face.

VS

Lulu

Hard

The difficulty on this matchup is either Medium or Hard, depending on how Aggressive the Lulu plays this. She can completely bully you in lane with her autoattacks and negate your trades with her lulue.png if she plays it out well. Pre-6 your goal is pretty much to keep up in CS, because you have no kill-pressure whatsoever unless you get assistance from your jungler. Post-6 you want to use your fizzmarinerdoom.png whenever she is in range and you have intel on where the enemy jungle is. Follow it up with a simple Q-W combo unless she uses her lulur.png right as you're about to knock her in to the air with your Shark. Make sure she is in the air when you use your Q-W combo, otherwise she has the ability to outplay you and use her lulur.png to cancel your fizzpiercingstrike.png damage which will result in her winning the engage. If you get your R-Q-W combo on her and she hasn't used her lulur.png yet, follow it up with an aggressive fizzjump.png and continue landing autoattacks on her. By this point she should be very low and forced to ult, where you can either choose to wait for your Q to come back off cooldown and go for the kill if possible, or cancel the trade and wait for your fizzjump.png to come back.

In teamfights you want to either focus Lulu or their secondary carry with your ultimate. If you have 3157.png you want to either use it to dodge her lulur.png or to wait for your fizzjump.png cooldown to come back up. You have to be extremely careful when you go all-in on her or anyone else close to her though, as she can easily bait you and use her luluw.png and basically grab a free kill on you with her team.

VS

Orianna

Easy

This matchup is the same for any medium-ranged Mage such as 61.png, 99.png and 112.png etc. These matchups all favour Fizz heavily as you have full control over how the lane goes. All medium/long-ranged Mages rely heavily on landing their skillshots to poke you down. With your passive that allows you to run through minions and your slipperyness with your fizzjump.png, you can negatve a lot of that damage and poke them back with either your fizzjump.png or your Q-W-Autoattacks combo to trade effectively pre-6.

Post-6 these matchups become extremely easy for you as you can all-in them at basically any point by first bringing them to around 50% hp with your Q-W-Auto-E combo, and then using the same combo again when your fizzmarinerdoom.png hits them. This should secure a kill or definitely force them out of lane with their 4.png burned. Use your 14.pngwhenever you have enough damage to kill them with it, or if you go all-in with your ult and they aren't low enough for you to kill them with your full combo and escape.

In teamfights your job vs. these types of mages is to zone them from your team or assassinate them opening up with your fizzmarinerdoom.png. Be careful so you don't get hit by their CC though, and try to dodge it with your fizzjump.png.

VS

Talon

Medium

This lane is extremely snowbally for either side, but you have the slight advantage as Fizz thanks to your fizzjump.png which can dodge Talons talonrake.png which is his primary source of damage in tandem with his autoattacks. In lane you want to start fizzseastonepassive.png and poke him with a few autoattacks early on. When you have your W, E and Q at level 3 you want to trade aggressively by Q-W-Auto-E' ing him. Trade like this whilst avoiding his talonrake.png with your fizzjump.png and you will win every short trade. Post-6 you want to be extremely careful as he can always talonshadowassault.png to hide away from your fizzmarinerdoom.png if you land it. You want to rush a 3191.png in this matchup to make sure you get favourable trades, and you can either upgrade it instantly to a 3157.png if you feel like it's necessary to survive, or follow it up with the usual buildpath of 3100.png etc.

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

This matchup is easy/medium difficulty depending on how good the 4.png is. When playing Fizz in this matchup you basically have one key goal in your mind; to dodge his yellow pickacard.png stuncard with your fizzjump.png whilst doing damage to him with it. If you use your fizzjump.png before he has used his card, you will lose that trade almost certainly. If you actually dodge the stuncard with your E and do damage to him with it, then you will do crazy amounts of damage to him. It's a patience battle between you and him western style. Who will draw (in this case his pickacard.png or your fizzjump.png ) first?

Your goal in this matchup is to harrass the Twisted Fate and keep him in lane constantly or force him to low health to keep him from roaming effectively with his destiny.png. A simple Q-W-Auto in lane will force him to pick a card, which you then dodge with your fizzjump.png which wins you the trade. Continue with this pattern until you have kill potential with your combo + 14.png, and he will have a difficult time.

In teamfights he will most likely have a 3157.png like you, so he won't be your key target unless you can kill him without using your ult (dodging his pickacard.png with your fizzjump.png followed up by a Q-W-Autoattack combo can probably kill him). Always save your fizzjump.png if he hasn't used his pickacard.png though, because if you get stunned you will die extremely quickly from him and his team.

VS

Zed

Medium

This is a skillmatchup as both champions have extreme ways of outplaying eachother, which makes it an extremely fun lane to play. No matter how this lane is going, you want to rush a 3157.png because it will completely negate his zedR.png damage. Pre-6 you want to stop him from harrassing you with simple zedQ.png's by Q-W-Autoattacking him and either just leave the trade or use your fizzjump.png for extra damage. You have to dodge a lot of his zedQ.png though, or he will win lane from poke as Zeds shurikens have a really low cooldown. Post-6 your job is to force his zedR.png from trading aggressively with your Q-W-Auto combo. You MUST save your fizzmarinerdoom.png and fizzjump.png however, in order to win the trade. Most Zed's will panic after you go extremely aggressive on him with your Q-W-Autoattacks, so he will use his zedR.png to try to all-in you. Dodge this by using your fizzjump.png and the Death Mark effect will never proc on you. After he lands you can either fizzmarinerdoom.png on him when he's extremely close and it's impossible for him to dodge it, or save it until he tries to escape on low health. If you have your fizzmarinerdoom.png up after his zedR.png, and you use your fizzjump.png to dodge his zedR.png, then you will win every post-6 trade with him.

Once you get 3157.png you can engage aggressively on him with your Q-W-Auto and fizzjump.png. Because of the active from Zhonyas, you can use your fizzjump.png to maximise your damage output rather than using it for negating his damage. In teamfights you want to look to either catch him splitpushing and outplaying him 1vs1, or try to go for their secondary carry as 238.png provides 0 peel/protection for any of his allies.

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

1. fizze.png--> 4.png combo. playbutton.png

This combo is extremely necessary to know and use as Fizz, as it allows you to hit your enemies off guard with your E. The trick is to use your 4.png right as you're about to drop down from your pole mid-fizze.png. You will then land on the enemy which enables you to kill them easily. Practice it to make sure you have it under control; this combo will prove very useful ingame.

2. fizzq.png--> fizzr.png combo. playbutton.png

This combo allows you to throw in a sneaky ultimate by masking the fizzr.png windup animation with your Q. This tip can be useful if you're chasing someone as the R channeltime will be cancelled by your Q, making you ult in a fluent motion without stopping.

3. Walljumps with your fizze.pngplaybutton.png

Even though this is an old video with the old Summoners Rift map, the mad geometry is exactly the same. This video will give you a clue of which walls are jumpable with your fizze.png and which difficulty degree they are to execute. This is useful to you as Fizz because it can give you easy chase/escape routes, as well as give you the ability to scout objectives such as baron or dragon by using your fizzr.png once to get in to the baron/dragon pit and once to get out. Give this a look and try it out ingame.

Junglers that synergize with Fizz Back to Top

Tier 1:60.png64.png154.png427.png79.png

Basically these junglers all have a way to either displace the enemies towards you, or keep them in check for you to land an easy fizzr.png and followup damage. If you have these champions in your team as Fizz, you should get some free kills simply due to the nature of these champions. Fizz is extremely good with junglers that can set up easy kills for you and get you snowballed; hence why they are the top tier champions that synergize with Fizz.

Tier 2: 19.png35.png102.png76.png107.png59.png

These junglers have worse CC/displacement than the Tier 1 junglers, and basically have a harder time setting you up for kills than the previously mentioned.

Crap Tier: 11.png20.png

This tier also include all other non-meta junglers such as Kayle etc. These all belong in the crap tier when paired with Fizz, due to their extreme lack of CC and pressure earlygame.
