Summoner Spells Back to Top

Currently the meta favors supports that can provide most of the damage during the laning phase, and can consistently deal damage throughout each game, so this means that if you're are interested in playing Gragas as support, I recommend building him with AP.  Taking either Ignite or Exhaust is perfectly viable in almost any situation, but for the case of Solo/Duo Queue, I prefer taking Ignite for more of an early game cheese.  Using Ignite before the enemy Marksman uses their Heal can guarantee a kill for your ADC or you provided you land both the gragase.pngBody slam and gragasq.pngBarrel Toss. I would recommend taking Exhaust if you don't feel comfortable trying to kill your match-up before you hit level 6, or if you are seriously worried about the enemy team being able to burst your team down easily (Syndra, Riven, Talon, Cassiopeia, Brand etc..)

Masteries Back to Top

A few of these masteries are the basic support masteries,.

Taking these 12 points into the "Ferocity" tree will allow your barrels to deal as much damage as possible, and allowing you to be able to gain kills early game.

You can take "Fresh Blood" over "Expose Weakness," if you don't trust your ADC to follow up, Expose Weakness is more favorable since the ADCs right now are capable of following up from a longer range (Jhin, Ashe, Varus)

Taking the hybrid penetration instead of the 5% increased CDR cap, is to ensure you can harass as hard as possible whenever your abilities are up, the idea is to all-in the enemies and not to force them to back.  It is still fine to take the 5% increased CDR, I just prefer taking the Hybrid penetration because I play greedy against many match-ups.
If you feel that your enemy pushes the lane hard, or is a lane that has utility supports, feel free to take the increased CDR.

|||  TANK SUPPORT GRAGAS  |||
If you are playing Support Gragas as tank, go 0/12/18
Take the average support masteries in cunning
And take Courage of the Colossus as your Keystone
I would take 50 more HP over the increased healing because you want your Face of the Mountain to give as big of a shield as possible.
Of course taking 15% off summoner spells CD is the best choice of those three. You will want your Exhaust and Flash up as much as possible for team fights, and to save your teammates.

Skipping "Drunken Rage" at level three is to make your "Barrel Toss" deal more damage, you don't need "Drunken Rage" at level three to all-in.  Since you are more likely to take magic penetration the extra damage on the auto attack isn't as strong, and the max hp damage won't be very strong since most bot lanes don't have that much HP to begin with.
Since you'll have "Barrel Toss" at 2 points at level 3, it will deal a lot of damage, and allow you to choose when to all in with your "Body Slam" and whenever your "Barrel Toss" comes back up.

If you happen to be laning against a tanky support, take W at level 3, it will be a lot more useful in that situation.
Since you are looking to all-in opponents take advantage of maxing E 2nd, and try to force early game picks, with your items and around levels 9-13, you will deal a lot of damage and be able to assassinate, or set your team up for easy kills.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Take refillable if the lane isn't a harass lane, but always buy refillable after the first 3 pots.

Core Items

Hextech revolver + frost-fang, will let you take reliable all-ins even if the enemies are at full HP. Refillable is insanely efficient. Sightstone, your a support.
Since your playing Tank support Gragas, You need to rush peel items asap Rush Iron Solari>Face of the Mountain>Redemption
Your generic AP gragas items, Iron solari is almost a necessity, unless your team is fed.
You buy these in almost every tank support Gragas game Iron Solari>Face of the Mountain>Redemption>Ruby Sight-stone Best order, redemption is stronger later in the game and the instant shield from Iron Solari+Face of the Mountain will be more effective!
