Summoner Spells Back to Top

Ok ok ok ... 4.pngFlash is a must have on Graves like most champions it allows you to escape sticky situations, by flashing over walls and all that jazz. Its also a very important summoner for following up and getting kills especially when your gravesmove.pngE doesn't dash you far enough, also in those pesky tower dives we all love to try that may go bad or well flash is defo gonna help you out there.


11.pngSmite - Your gonna take smite on Graves jungle regardless, i dont think it needs much explaining without it, its almost impossible to jungle and you are unable to buy any of the jungle items so do yourself a favour and take smite :).

I mean over all this section of the guide is pretty self explanatory 4.png11.png are a must have on Jungle Graves as the other spells just dont offer anything of real value to Graves which is why smite and flash is the best way to go :).

i feel like with the start of 6.8 adcish Graves seems more favourable for solo q ,, these masteries give insane sustain and dmge i really like them maybe swap bounty hunter for oppressor its your choice

I dont really feel the need to go into detail about the masteries i feel like the above masteries give you good survivability and tankiness are probably the most common set of masteries for Graves

Graves with ages still viable nice sustain more tankness less dmge, take this in parties isnt as much yolo q as blood lust

Some People also like to use the Thunderlord masteries they offer much more dmge and burst at the substitute of survivability.

I'll let you decide for yourself which masteries suit yourself most

I think its Pretty obvious with Graves what items are gonna be best when maxed but just encase you dont know

i have never really understood why people put so much detail into this section explain what each spell can do as you can easily read the spells yourself but never the less here they are





Passive gravespassive.png: When Graves auto-attacks, he fires 4 pellets (8 on crit, 10 on 3031.png) which deal 75-110% on the first pellet and 25-36.6% for each additional pellet hitting the same target. This means that Graves is so very efficient with his AD stats in that he can multiply their value on both single AND multiple targets when positioned correctly. Graves also must wait 2.079 seconds during his reload animation where he is free to move, but not attack. This reload is reduced by 0.4% for every 1% bonus attack speed down to a 1.22 second reload. 


gravesclustershot.png: Graves fires a pass through linear skillshot that will collide with terrain and return (this can cause a LOT of frustration if you mess up) dealing 55/70/85/100/115 (75% bonus AD) physical on the way out and 80/125/170/215/260 (40/60/80/100/120% bonus AD) physical on the way in. This totals 135/195/255/315/375 (115/135/155/175/195% bonus AD) physical.

gravessmokegrenade.png: Graves fires a small zone of Nearsight. This is the same status ailment that quinnQ.png causes, however the debilitation is anchored to the landing location instead of sticking to the target. It also slows for 15/20/25/30/35% which can help you out some, but usually not worth it. Best used in teamfights or ganks. In teamfights, try to land it right on enemy ranged units as it will force them to stop attacking and reposition. In ganks, you can drop it on the enemy jungler to usually screw up their attempt OR drop it on the enemy if they happen to be on the receiving end. Don't spam this ability freely as it has a fairly long cooldown and eats up mana(That's the price of utility). Deals 60/110/160/210/260 (60% AP) magic.

gravesmove.png: Graves will dash  while reloading one unit of ammo and resetting his auto-attack. Not only this, but Graves finally gets to showcase the tankiness . Each use of E grants Graves 10/15/20/25/30 Armor AND Magic Resist for 4 seconds. Not only that, but it will stack to a total of 40/60/80/100/120 Armor and Magic Resist. That is like 2 to 3 full build tank items.  Every pellet you land on a target will refund 0.5 seconds of the cooldown and any damage to non-minions (towers, jungle camps, champions, etc.) will refresh the duration of your stacks. Learn to master this ability. Use of this will dictate if you are a good or bad Graves. 

gravespassive.png: Graves will fire a shell in a straight line that explodes upon impact with an enemy champion or reaching its range limit, ending with a cone of damage. Always do your best to land the shell itself as it will be the bulk of the damage from this ability. The maths are: 250/400/550 (150% bonus AD) physical on the shell and 200/320/440 (120% bonus AD) physical on the cone. Keep in mind that when firing this ability, Graves (manly as he is) will be pushed back a distance from the recoil. This means that using this on a fleeing target can potentially lose you the kill as on occasion, the enemy will survive and the distance you added between you two from firing will put you too far behind. [DISCLAIMER]: Targets can only be affected by either the shell OR the cone, but not both. Sorry, you can't cheese your way to victory on everything in his kit.

Starting Items

    Starting Items take these refillable potion is cost efficient as Graves has high sustain which would render the 3 health pots an overload. (THIS IS WHAT I ALWAYS START !!)
    First Back is gonna look something like this ... always get sabre first then judging on how much money you have get these items above
    Argument over which is better is upto you i suppose however i would defo recommend the skirmisher's sabre over the other two, this jungle item is so rewarding and allows you to wins so many more 1v1s and skirmishes, it is also really good for finishing of a enemy working like a mini ignite. But defo try the other ones if you are not sure
    This can be a very nice early build path when you finish steraks build for the current situation in the game ... Make sure to buy maw before steraks
    PATCH 6.9!!! -(bUILD ORDER - WARRIOR>SWIFTIES>VAMP>PD>INFINITY>DEATHSDANCE) I HAVE TRIED A FEW GAMES WITH THIS BUILD SEEMS REALLY NICE TRY IT OUT FINISH WITH LAST WHISPER QSS STERAKS OR BLOODTHIRSTER DEPENDING ON YOUR SITUATIION
    -(WARRIOR>SWIFTIES>INFINI OR PD>ESSENCE) THIS IS A BIT HARDER TO START UP ON COS OF COST BUT IF YOU ARE AHEAD AND BUILD THIS RIP ENEMY - YOU CAN FINISH WITH SOME LIFSTEAL OR ARMOUR PEN DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU NEED MAYBE SOME SUSTAIN OR SOME SHREDDING WITH THE LASTWHISPER
    core
    The undying Graves- sustain through anything insane late game ... warriors>swifties>one of the lifesteal items>PD>steraks>2nd lifsteal item

Core Items

    (Items 1&2) Early core Finish these ASAP Give such a nice early game dmge spike + the movement speed is nice for getting of more successful ganks.
    Whatever floats your boat test them however i recommend swifties
    Graves can use many different items which makes this section of the guide so broad so ill try my best to explain this -
    (Item 3) Chose 1 of these 3 ... Maw-Gives early dmge, armour pen and survivability with a shield very solid 3rd item especially when you feel you are dieng to AP champs to much or they have alot of AP Deaths Dance - really really nice dmge and sustain can be nice 3rd item however can be quite costly and makes you quite squishy. Ghostblade - Offers very nice dmge, less sustain, alot of armour pen, CD and a attack and move speed active, very nice well rounded item on graves gives you alot of DPS and slipperiness to chase or run from your enemies
    (Item 4) Choose 1 ... For item 4 i almost always go for PD this is because it gives graves massive sustained dmge at a very low price and i feel it really lets you go HAM :D. Last whisper, not the biggest fan usually like to get it a but later on however offers nice ad and armour pen boost for a small cost. MAW, ghostblade and Deathsdance could also be bought at this point if you feel you bought one of these for item 3 but feel another from this section would help for item 4.
    (Item 5/6)Choose One ... quicksilver nice bit of magic resist helps you escape cc that you feel you are constantly getting locked down by such as morg Q. Steraks makes you a 1v1 beast and makes your survivability very high, really nice item on graves.

Situational Items

    need survivability from bust dmge as well as increasing own dmge
    Locked down by CC, sustain lifesteal dmge, often build vs heavy cc comps that have AP dmge
    Crazy sustain with dmge dont build it often unless i really want to carry and am very ahead
    End game item when you feel you need to shred some armour nice amount of armour pen
    Feel like your getting focused too hard nice item also has nice defensive stats
    Hela Dmge ... very rarely build this you dont really need that much dmge in my opinion and there are other items that are better for replacement than this
    nice alround stats on graves can be built when you feel you need CD

  • refillable pot cost efficient better than using 3 healthpots unless you are new to graves or do not yet have good enough runes.

Jungle items

  • Always take Warrior without a doubt
  • A lot of dmge, CD and doesnt cost alot

  • can secure kills that blue and green items couldnt
  • Provides true dmge to get past pesky armour
  • Really ncie for agressive players

  • However loss of dmge to red smite
  • Still very good for vision as Green wards are no longer purchasable 

Blue

  • Least recommended 
  • Harder for enemies to escape your ganks
  • Easier to escape danger yourself or chase someone
  • Very small amount of dmge from its smite active on champions

  • Cheap
  • Can be purchased very early to make ganking easier
  • high movement speed
  • recommend buying these everygame
  • less affected by slows due to passive

  • Build this Basically every game
  • The only time i wouldnt buy this time is if they have a full ad team
  • sucha good item and the hexdrinker is really cheap and offers really good stats until you can build into this item
  • nice combo item with steraks

This may look kinda weird but its one of my favourite build paths right now however i wouldn't recommended it until you are more experienced on Graves.

Amumu shouldn't be much of a problem especially in the early game.  a this time its good to be very aggressive with your ganks as well as invading.


when starting red side vs amumu i often like to start gromp smiteless and run straight to his red buff and kill him if hes there or steal his red this is good for creating pressure in his jungle.

Your gravesmove.png counters his bandagetoss.png ,so jsut make sure to look out for his q when fighting him and your golden :).

I recommend getting a early 3155.png vs him and perhaps a 3140.png later if needed

VS

Ekko

Medium

Get early 3155.png

Make sure when you are fighting ekko you are kiting back otherwise he will rek you its important to know when to fight ekko as he has alot of dmge and of course his ekkoW.png can be a pain, i recommend using your gravessmokegrenade.png when heekkoW.png and using your gravesmove.png when he ekkoQ.png

Again Ekko you may want to try and explode him before he can use his ulti, only do this if you feel you have the dmge as he will most likely be really tanky, this can get you the kill really easily if you do it fast enough for him not to use his ekkoR.png

Elise

Pretty nice match up for you tbh


Like always vs these ap jungelers i recommend getting a early3155.png, especially vs elise as it will disrupt her burst.

Your gravesclustershot.png counters her spiderlings which is pretty good. make sure to use save your gravesmove.png for Elise'seliseE.png , this is a good time to go on elise and Phuc her up.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT !!! That you either wait for Elise to use her Rappel(E in Spider Form) before you ulti as she can easily dodge your ulti with it, this shoiuldnt be bvery hard as her rappel has a large CD.

A good Hecarim can really destroy you, if the heca decides to be mroe active and over aggressive than you are being make sure you do not just stop trying to gank and start farming jungle MAKE SURE YOU TRY AND KEEP UP WITH HIS PRESSURE !! that is very important or he will just run away with the game


you can try using your gravessmokegrenade.png on him and quickly gravesmove.png to the side when he hecarimult.png however this sometimes doesnt work.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

Trash ... his jarvanivcataclysm.png counters himself with your gravesclustershot.png + if he is stronger you can just gravesmove.png from his jarvanivcataclysm.png. should be really easy make sure to try and counter gnak him as you will usually win that skirmish.

VS

Kha'Zix

Medium
3053.pngSteraks is very nice vs burst champs like kha or rengar, this can really helpy ou survive and burst kha down

make sure not to become isolated on khaskhazixQ.png
try burst him down near a wall with your gravesclustershot.pngAAgravesmove.pnggraveschargeshot.png combo this should kill him
its actually pretty ncie invading him before 6 try it !

Lee Sin

Medium

Use your gravesmove.png on his blindmonkqone.png and if he lands his blindmonkqone.png wait for him to reactivate it so when he lands at you, quickly gravesmove.png so he is unable to ward hop and insec you ...  do this ans lee is a really nice match up for you  ... dont and well your dead 

VS

Master Yi

Hard

Hate this guy, he has a lot of stopping power mainly cos his alphastrike.png can dodge all your abilities and he is just so slippery. however forcing him into skirmishes with you and your mid or top laner can be quite favourable as yi's often over extent a this point you can burst and kill him.


Early - You should have advantage with dmg
Mid -  gonna be a bit harder to fight him
Late - Run unless really fed or 2v1
