Summoner Spells Back to Top

TP+Flash you will take in 95% of your games. You don't need ignite on lane since you are huge lane bully and TP will help you to roam somewhere and take even more kills or objectives. + Illaoi has awesome waveclear (single tentacle smash clears whole wave) , so you can split and then join your team.

Exaust is really situational pick, you mainly will take it vs bursty teams or if enemy team has carry with high mobility (such as Lucian or Ezreal), it will help you to remove them from fight.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

Cunning:

Sorcery increases your tentacle damage by 2%. Let's count. Single tentacle deals around 600 damage in mid-late game, adding these 2% and we get 612 so +12 damage from mastery. If you hit one target with multiple tentacles, every other (after the first) will deal 50% damage. So 300+6, we get 306 damage. Ideal teamfight is when you have at least 1 tentacle on wall + you hit anyone of enemy team with E and then ult in 5 enemies (+that E ghost). As a result, you will spawn 6 tentacles (E also counts as champion and has some cool interateractions) + you have 1 tentacle on wall. 7 tentacles. 1st will deal 600 damage, others will deal 300*6=1800 damage. 2400 damage total (on paper, we don't count resistances now). 2400+2% is 2448 damage, from 1 good tentacle smash. Now we are adding the resistances of enemy team (average armor per champion will be around 100, so something like 50% damage reduction). As a result, we get 1224 damage from 1 smash. And in teamfight you can make around 3 smashes on every enemy champion. 3672 damage in 4-5 second interval, and we DO NOT count damage that your W does and your Q smash alone, they can add around 700 damage (300 from Q + 200*2 from W, as you can proc it twice easly). Adding that 700 damage and we get 4372 damage from single champion combo on every single enemy champion in teamfight. That's more than 24000 total damage (we also count E ghost, because you will redirrect 62% of damage in addition to ghosted champion) dealt in single teamfight. But that is only paper stuff, we all know that this will happen only 1 of 20 games, but still these numbers are totally insane. Stormraider's Surge will help you to catch thoose guys who will survive somehow (movementspeed boost is really good since the only way to get closer to target is your W or flash)

Ferocity:

Bounty Hunter

I prefer this mastery as it gives good overall damage output if you are ahead. It is quite easy to get a huge advantage over the enemy team as Illaoi, even if she is 2/10, she still can destroy the enemy team because of her retarded AoE damage. But this is only my personal preference, as I have my own playstyle on this champion. For others - I would suggest Battle Trance as it is more safe and consistant mastery.

W start is much better than Q because of 1 reason. Most of your games you won't have to leash your jungler and you can simply walk into your lane and spawn tentacles. When your lane opponent will come you may have up to 4 tentacles spawned already, and when he will come to kill one of it you already will have your passive up, which means that you will get that tentacle back. Best way to start dominating over your opponent is position yourself near 1 or 2 tentacles, so you can press W and they will smash enemy toplaner. This is really usefull against Riven or any other kind of lvl 1-2 all-in champions, who do not expect damage that you can deal and how much can you get back from that simple thing. Also, it costs only 30 mana (your Q at first rank costs 40) so you won't run out of mana at first 2-3 lvls.

Max E first at most of games. When your opponent pushes you, you can grab him with E, put him under the turret and get free harass on him. Maxing E will give you more damage transfer and lower cooldown. If your tentacle will hit enemy champion + his ghost at the same time, he will get much more damage (count regular smash damage + %of damage transfer from ghost). This is a key to win the trades without wasting tons of mana (you have REALLY small mana pool, and you won't buy any mana items at most of the games).

Max Q second. Passively it increases your tentacle damage by 10-40%. You can max Q first when you are bad at hitting skillshots or you are against Fiora or some other kind of mobile champion (look Fizz, Yasuo), but I prefer E because of damage transfer increase and overall profit from it.

Max W last because it has % damage, which scales with your AD, low cooldown even at rank 1 (+ you have fixed 2 second CD on it under ult buff). 1 point is more than enough until the late game.

Max R whenever it is possible.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

When you are against easy matchup
When you plan to stay under turret
Also good starting item if you think you will need more sustain on the lane. Can also be purchased after first back if you are having some issues
Vision is really important for you, because you ALWAYS need to know, who is going to visit you so you can prepare yourself
Another good start option, if you want to rush some AD item

Core Items

This item is a MUST. It gives you all stats than you might need such as CDR, Armor pen, HP and AD + movementspeed boost is really useful
Best option vs teams with 1 or 2 mages, sustain increase from this item is great with your tentacles
Choose 1 of these, depending on enemy team comp (I usually take Mercury's Treads because of tenacity)
Another great item to increase overall sustain, damage and also gives you remaining 10% CDR (BC+Visage grants only 30%)
Anti-kite item, gives you armor, hp and huge slow
Last item options, choose 1 depending on situation

Situational Items

Full build example (mixed damage enemy team, you are a bit ahead)
Full build example (full AD enemy team), but in this case you will need to change 6 MR/lvl glyphs to CDR/lvl, to get 45% CDR cap
Full build example VS full magic damage teams (Corki ADC or enemy ADC is behind)
    Good Full AD build
For those who want to become a Hentai Master (DON'T DO THIS)
Lane pressure , actually works really good when you need HEAVY pressure and you can't fight
This is a full build example for those, who already understand how does she work. The more you understand - the more damage item you can get. Be carefull with this build! Sterak's will give you 70+ ad when it triggers thanks to your giant base damage (145 at lvl 18)
Another items, that are good on her, but they really situational

VS

Fiora

Hard

Hardest matchup you can get in your life. You won't do anything against her. She will dodge all your tentacles and will rape faster than you can expect. Don't pick Illaoi into this champion, you won't win this
