Summoner Spells Back to Top

Summoner Spells

red_line.png

4.png I recommend that you always take Flash as your first Summoner Spell when playing Illaoi. This is because Flash is a very reliable and instant Summoner Spell that can be used offensively and defensively. Flash is very popular on almost all champions because of its reliability and what it does. You should take it on Illaoi.

12.png For your secondary Summoner Spell, I recommend that you take Teleport. Teleport is a great Summoner Spell as it can be used to get to lane quickly and also help your team out. I recommend that you take Teleport on Illaoi for those reasons.

Rune Breakdown

red_line.png

420.png Illaoi has only 1 recommended Rune page and that is Inspiration with Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy. Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy is a very good keystone on 420.png Illaoi because it can be constantly triggered by your abilities. For example, your illaoiw.png W alone will trigger Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy (assuming you use it on an enemy champion.) You can also use Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy and get the resources from it if you hit the enemy with your illaoie.png E and auto attack the “spirit.” Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy is very reliable if you’re against a melee champion, but it can be much harder when laning against a ranged champion. For your next Rune, I recommend that you take Perfect%20Timing.png?width=32 Perfect Timing. This Rune is very good on 420.png Illaoi and any champion in general. This is because you gain a free Perfect%20Timing.png?width=32 stopwatch which can be used during the later stages of the early-game. This is currently a very good Rune. The next Rune you should take is Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=32 Biscuit Delivery. I feel like these two Runes are currently very good on 420.png Illaoi so I recommend you choose these. For your final Rune in your main tree, I recommend Cosmic%20Insight.png?width=32 Cosmic Insight. Cosmic%20Insight.png?width=32 Cosmic Insight gives you a reduction on all your abilities and Summoner Spells.

red_line.png

For your secondary tree, you have some freedom and you have a multitude of choices. For example, you could take Precision with Triumph.png?width=32 Triumph and Last%20Stand.png?width=32 Last Stand. These two will make you very strong in team fights and when taken in conjunction with the items you purchase, then you will be un-killable! However, you could also take Domination with Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32 Sudden Impact and Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32 Ravenous Hunter. These two are also very good during the laning phase and team fights. When you use your illaoiw.png W, you will gain the lethality bonuses. This is because your illaoiw.png W is considered a dash. Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32 Ravenous Hunter will also give you immense healing during team fights and allow you to sustain through fights. The final example combo you could take is the Resolve tree with Second%20Wind.png?width=32 Second Wind and Conditioning.png?width=32 Conditioning. Both of these Runes will give you sustain and defence that will allow you to sustain and survive team fights.

I feel that you should take Domination second, however, you can take whichever combo you wish.

Ability Breakdown

red_line.png

Illaoi’s Passive is Prophet of an Elder God

420.png Illaoi periodically spawns a illaoipassive.png tentacle on nearby terrain which remains online until killed or disabled at 60 seconds.

illaoipassive.png Tentacles deal damage when commanded by her abilities.

illaoi1.png

red_line.png

Illaoi’s Q is Tentacle Smash

Passive: illaoipassive.png Tentacles deal increased damage.

Active: 420.png Illaoi slams down on the ground, briefly summoning a illaoipassive.png tentacle that slams down in the target direction dealing damage to any enemies hit. It then disappears shortly after.

illaoi2.png

Tips and Tricks:

When you use your illaoiq.png Q you will be stood still and left vulnerable. The illaoiq.png Q has a longer cast time compared to some abilities, so it is important that you are safe to use it. Check the map before going for any trades. If you have landed your illaoie.png E on an enemy, then you want to try to line your illaoiq.png Q up on both the Spirit and the enemy champion. This is harder said than done, but if you're against a melee champion then you can easily do this. You especially want to do this during team fights.

red_line.png

Illaoi’s W is Harsh Lesson

420.png Illaoi’s next basic attack within 6 seconds gains bonus range and causes her to dash to her focused target. All illaoipassive.png tentacles in range of the ability will also attack the target.

illaoiw.png Harsh Lesson is an auto attack reset.

illaoi3.png

Tips and Tricks:

Your illaoiw.png W is an auto attack reset. This means you should auto attack the enemy first before using your illaoiw.png W. This will do the most damage to the enemy. You can sometimes use your illaoiw.png W to last hit minions under the tower. This will also allow you to fast push lanes.

If you have passive illaoipassive.png tentacles around the area when you use your illaoiw.png W. Then they will slam down on the floor where your illaoiw.png W was (as long as they are in range.) This will help you deal damage in trades if you hit an enemy champion. They can also aid you in farming and pushing waves.

red_line.png

Illaoi’s E is Test of Spirit

420.png Illaoi unleashes a illaoipassive.png tentacle in the target direction. The illaoipassive.png tentacle stops at the first enemy hit. If the enemy hit is a champion, then 420.png Illaoi will pull the champions illaoie.png Spirit and place it in front of 420.png Illaoi. The target is tethered to the illaoie.png Spirit and revealed while the illaoie.png Spirit is still alive.

illaoie.png Spirits have the target champions current health and lasts for 10 seconds. This is reduced by 1 second each time the target deals damage to 420.png Illaoi. 420.png Illaoi and her allies can attack the illaoie.png Spirit to deal a damage to the tethered champion.

The tether is severed if the illaoie.png Spirit of the targeted champion is killed or moves too far away from the illaoie.png Spirit. If they leave the area, they will be slowed for 1.5 seconds by the illaoie.png Spirit returning to them! They will be marked with Vessel for 12 seconds after they have left.

Vessel marks the enemy if they move away from the illaoie.png Spirit. Vessel spawns a illaoipassive.png tentacle near the enemy every few seconds and will attempt to hit the enemy champion. Each illaoipassive.png tentacle will autonomously attack the closest Vessel/ illaoie.png Spirit once every 10 seconds.

illaoi4.png

Tips and Tricks:

Your illaoie.png E is going to be one of the main sources of damage in the game. You need to hit your illaoie.png E as often as possible and go for trades whenever it is up. If you can hit the enemy with your illaoie.png E, then you should try to follow up with your other abilities.

After level 6 you should unlock your illaoir.png Ultimate. I would avoid using it until your land your illaoie.png E on an enemy. This is because the illaoir.png Ult will fail and do less damage.

So make sure to always hit and land your illaoie.png E before going for any lengthly and lethal trades to deal more damage and slow the enemy down.

Your illaoie.png E will also give Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy Stacks and will proc your illaoipassive.png tentacles to slam down.

Some example Combos of 420.png Illaoi:

illaoie.png E + illaoir.png R + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q.
illaoie.png E + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q.
illaoie.png E + illaoiq.png Q + illaoiw.png W.

red_line.png

Illaoi’s Ultimate is Leap of Faith

420.png Illaoi leaps into the air before slamming herself into the ground dealing damage to all nearby enemies inside her circle. For each enemy champion and illaoie.png Spirit hit, a illaoipassive.png Tentacle is summoned for 8 seconds.

For the duration of illaoir.png Leap of Faith, illaoiw.png Harsh Lesson’s cooldown is reduced and all illaoipassive.png tentacles that are awakened by 420.png Illaoi are untargetable (meaning all her illaoir.png Ult tentacles cannot be killed.) The illaoipassive.png tentacles will go dormant and take half the amount of time to attack an enemy.

illaoi5.png

Tips and Tricks:

Your illaoir.png Ultimate doesn't do much damage on its own. You need to use it in conjunction with your other abilities. It is incredibly important that you land your illaoie.png E before using your illaoir.png Ultimate to do increased damage to enemies. You should then use the rest of your abilities and constantly auto attack the enemy. This will result in tons of damage and probably save your life.

The more enemies that are near you, the more illaoipassive.png tentacles will spawn.

red_line.png

Pets

420.png Illaoi has 1 pet in her Kit. That pet is the illaoipassive.png Tentacle! illaoipassive.png Tentacles spawn through your illaoipassive.png Passive and will allow you to do increased damage in trades and exchanges. The illaoipassive.png Tentacle is a 2 Hit point static object that will attack enemies.

The illaoipassive.png Tentacle will attack each time a target is hit by illaoiw.png Harsh lesson and will automatically attack the closest target in its range every 10 seconds. The target will focus either a created illaoie.png Spirit or a illaoie.png Vessel. Basically, they will auto attack the enemy with you when you hit them with an illaoie.png E.

illaoipassive.png Tentacles also 7.png heal you and deal damage once they slam down on enemies.

Tips and Tricks:

You should try to fight whenever you have illaoipassive.png Tentacles around you. This is because they will help you deal damage to the enemies when you go for trades. illaoipassive.png Tentacles are really strong, so make sure to use them to help you. They will attack from either your illaoiw.png W or illaoie.png E- so keep that in mind.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

You should try to always take this in every matchup. This is because it gives you a ton of sustain. Always take this unless you're against a ranged champion.
If you are against a ranged champion, then you will need to start Doran's Shield. Only take this if you're against a Ranged Champion. You will have a hard time without it.

Core Items

The Black Cleaver is going to be your first item every time you play Illaoi. This item is needed to give you sustain and early game damage.
Your second item is going to be Boots. You will get free boots at around 10 minutes if you take Magical Footwear. I recommend Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads.
Your third item is going to be Death's Dance. This item provides a lot of sustain and will be your main source of healing in team fights. This is a must have on Illaoi.
Sterak's Gage is your 4th item. You need this item because of it's bonuses in shielding and damage. This item will protect you in team fights and from the enemies burst damage.
For your 5th item, I recommend either Guardian's Angel or a defensive item. Below i've listed which one you should get. Personally, I feel that Guardian's Angel is good 5th but it's up to you.
For your 6th item, I recommend you purchase a defensive item. Below i've listed which one you should get. You need a defensive item last (or 5th) to survive the team fights. These are all viable items on Illaoi.

Situational Items

You will need to purchase early Ninja Tabi if you're against an AD ranged champion
If you are against a heavy AP team. These items are viable on Illaoi to defend yourself against them!
If you are against a heavy AD team. These items are viable on Illaoi to defend yourself against them!

Item Suggestions

red_line.png

420.png Illaoi is a simple champion and has a very simplistic item build. The best start of 420.png Illaoi is 2033.png Corrupting Potion. If you can, I recommend getting this every time. This is because it will allow you to go for trades often, and survive trades too. You should try to avoid getting 1055.png Doran's Blade because you will not get a lot of sustain from it. You should also not get 1054.png Doran's Shield, however, in some cases, you will have to. For example, if you're against a ranged champion like 133.png Quinn, then you may need this item. Taking 2033.png Corrupting Potion is great because it will allow you to out sustain most enemies in lane.

red_line.png

Your first item is going to be 3071.png The Black Cleaver. This item is really good and is everything 420.png Illaoi needs to survive the early game. This item will give you damage, defence and cooldown reduction. Taking this first will allow you to do a lot of damage and survive trades. In most cases, I like to get 3067.png Kindlegem first because of the cooldown reduction and health. By the 10 minute mark you should have (or almost have) this item completed. You should upgrade and purchase tier 2 1001.png Boots as your 2nd item. I recommend either 3047.png Ninja Tabi or 3111.png Mercury's Treads. If you're against a heavy AP team or CC team, then I recommend 3111.png Mercury's Treads. If you are against an AD lane or heavy AD team then I recommend 3047.png Ninja Tabis. After this item, you want to get 3812.png Death's Dance. 3812.png Death's Dance is a really good item on 420.png Illaoi for a few reasons. The first is that it grants extra damage and cooldown reduction. But the main bonus is that it gives you 7.png healing from damaging an enemy.  This item will give 420.png Illaoi a lot of sustain through team fights and trades.

red_line.png

Your 4th item is going to be 3053.png Sterak's Gage. This item is really good on 420.png Illaoi because she is a fighter champion. 3053.png Sterak's Gage gives you a shield in team fights and will allow you to survive for longer in team fights. This item will buff 420.png Illaoi's damage, sustain and overall quality of the game. 3053.png Sterak's Gage is a core item on Illaoi so you need to get it every game! Your 5th item is either a defensive item or 3026.png Guardians Angel. You could pick up a range of different defensive items, such as 3742.png Dead Man's Plate, 3065.png Spirit Visage, 3075.png Thornmail and  3194.png Adaptive Helm. You have a lot of freedom for your 5th item, so I suggest picking up the one you need the most. If you pick up a defensive item, then you want to get 3026.png Guardian's Angel as your final item.

> Optional 5th (or 6th) items:

3742.png Dead Mans Plate:

  • Gives armour and health. Is good against all team comps; especially full AD teams.
  • Will allow you to stay healthy and survive team fights and exchanges.

3065.png Spirit Visage:

  • Gives magic resist and health. This item will defend you against heavy AP teams.
  • Will allow you to sustain and survive team fights.

3075.png Thornmail:

  • This item gives you a ton of armour that will protect you against AD and auto attacks.
  • Is a must have against full AD teams.

3194.png Adaptive Helm:

  • Is a really good item against AP teams.
  • Will protect you against long-lasting abilities. Such as 161.png Vel'koz velkozr.png R and 68.png Rumble rumblecarpetbomb.png R.

VS

Camille

Medium

This is a medium matchup for Illaoi. This is because they are also a fighter champion. Camille is also really mobile and can dodge your E. As a whole, this lane is a pain to play against. You can trade whenever she wastes one of her abilities.

VS

Darius

Medium

This is a medium matchup for Illaoi. This is because of Darius’s Passive. Try to avoid fighting for long period of time. Poke and then back off. Try your best to co-ordinate an early gank at put him behind. If he misses or wastes an ability, then you can go in for a trade.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Dr Mundo is pretty weak until level 4/5 where he usually out trades most champions. Fortunately for you, Illaoi is also strong at this time and can counter him. Just avoid any poke damage from his Q’s.

VS

Fiora

Medium

This is a medium/hard matchup for Illaoi as Fiora is a pain to play against. You will usually win any trade with her, and you need to consistently go for W attacks on the enemy. She can block your abilities with her W which is frustrating. However, you should win this lane.

VS

Galio

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Galio is pretty useless as a champion in general. He is quite squishy early and really easy to trade into. You should poke him and go for trades whenever he comes to farm. He is really useless against Illaoi and you need to abuse him in lane.

VS

Garen

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Garen is not very good early and has no real trade potential. However, you need to respect both his silence and his Ultimate. If he uses his Q, then run away.

VS

Gnar

Medium

This is a medium matchup for Illaoi. Whilst Gnar does have the range advantage, he is quite squishy early. He can consistently poke you down, and is rather tanky while he is in mega form. Try your best to hit your E and trade with him once he wastes his boomerang. This is a frustrating lane and he will usually come out ahead. Try to get an early gank and put him behind.

VS

Jayce

Hard

This is a hard matchup for Illaoi. This is because Jayce has the range advantage and can constantly poke you. BEWARE you may need to take Biscuit Delivery instead of Magical footwear. This is because you will need to get Ninja Tabi first. Try your best to take what CS you can, and avoid some CS if you will be poked heavily for it.

VS

Lucian

Hard

Lucian is really hard to lane against because he has the range advantage, poke and sustain. I recommend playing really safe and purchasing early armor to protect yourself against him. You should avoid pushing.

VS

Malphite

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Malphite is a full tank champion with little in sustain and damage. You should poke him and go for trades whenever he comes to farm. He is really useless against Illaoi and you need to abuse him in lane.

VS

Maokai

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Maokai builds full tank and is not very good at frequent and consistent trades. You need to poke him whenever possible with your E+W+Q combo and harass him whenever possible. You will need to avoid the bushes at the top of the lane because he will place saplings there.

VS

Nasus

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Nasus is rather weak early and can be heavily abused. This is an okay matchup so you should try to poke him whenever he comes to farm. You need to be aware of his sustain as he will go even or out sustain you. Be careful of his slow!

VS

Nautilus

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Nautilus is a tank champion who is really bad in the early game. You should try your best to poke him and go for frequent trades. Like many other tanks early, he is quite squishy and has no real trading power. Abuse this with trades and out sustain him.

VS

Quinn

Hard

This is a hard matchup for Illaoi. This is because Quinn has the range advantage and can constantly poke you. BEWARE you may need to take Biscuit Delivery instead of Magical footwear. This is because you will need to get Ninja Tabi first. Try your best to take what CS you can, and avoid some CS if you will be poked heavily for it.

VS

Renekton

Medium

This is a medium matchup for Illaoi. This is because the enemy is a fighter and can constantly trade with you. Renekton is strong in the 1v1 situation and can out sustain you if he goes Corrupting Potion. If he goes Doran’s, then you will have to respect him, however, if you can go for frequent early trades around your tentacles then this lane will be easy.

VS

Shen

Easy

This is a good matchup for Illaoi because Shen is a tank champion and is cannot consistently trade with you. If you go for an early trade, then you should win this lane pretty easily. Shen lacks any form of sustain so you should be able to out trade and out sustain him.

VS

Swain

Medium
This is a medium matchup for Illaoi. This is because the enemy is ranged and does magic damage. You will need to sacrifice CS for XP to stay healthy in this lane. Unfortunately, the enemy does have good sustain as well. So, you cannot exactly trade in this lane. Try your hardest to poke when possible and get all the CS you can. You need to co-ordinate an early gank.

VS

Teemo

Hard

This is a hard matchup for Illaoi. This is because Teemo has the range advantage and can constantly poke you. BEWARE you may need to take Biscuit Delivery instead of Magical footwear. This is because you will need to get Ninja Tabi first. Try your best to take what CS you can, and avoid some CS if you will be poked heavily for it.

VS

Vayne

Hard

This is a hard matchup for Illaoi. This is because Vayne has the range advantage and can constantly poke you. BEWARE you may need to take Biscuit Delivery instead of Magical footwear. This is because you will need to get Ninja Tabi first. Try your best to take what CS you can, and avoid some CS if you will be poked heavily for it.

VS

Vladimir

Early Game Back to Top

Early Game

red_line.png

The early game for 420.png Illaoi is, unfortunately, her weakest because she lacks items. Your main goal is to farm, harass and go for trades whenever you can. Thanks to 420.png Illaoi’s kit, you can go for trades as soon as level 2 once you have your illaoiw.png W and your illaoie.png E. Because you’re taking Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy you should go for as many early trades as possibly- utilizing your illaoiw.png W on the enemy champion and illaoie.png Spirit.

You should continue to go for trades whenever possible to get the most resources. In the laning phase, you need to keep farming and getting as much gold as possible. So, it is important to utilize Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy and poke with your illaoie.png E + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q combos.

red_line.png

Mid Game Back to Top

Mid Game

red_line.png

The Midgame is where 420.png Illaoi really shines. By this time, she will have a few items behind her making her relatively strong. You need to abuse this strength by looking for trades and opportunities to get ahead. You want to fight whenever you have your illaoir.png Ultimate up. You should try to focus on fighting against melee champions because they will be caught in your illaoie.png E and illaoir.png Ultimate. However, if the enemy is mostly ranged- then it will be harder.

The Midgame consists of Splitpushing and fighting whenever possible. Because 420.png Illaoi is a juggernaut champion with both damage and sustain, you will be able to fight almost anyone. This means you can also 1v2 practically anyone even when behind. If you hit your illaoie.png E on the enemy, then you can fight them.

red_line.png

Late Game Back to Top

Late Game

red_line.png

The late game is relatively easy for 420.png Illaoi because you will have your items. Unfortunately, so will the enemy. The late game is not very strong for 420.png Illaoi because you will not be able to one-shot an enemy champion. The late game will be focused on team fighting and getting objectives. You should try to fight in close quarters- where all the enemies are close to the walls. This is because you will do increased damage as your illaoir.png Ultimate can hit more champions. You should also be near the walls to spawn illaoipassive.png tentacles.

However, whilst team fighting will be your main goal, you also want to split push effectively to get the objectives around the map. You can clear waves quickly with your illaoiw.png W and illaoiq.png Q combos on the enemy minions.

Check the team fighting section below!

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

Tips and Tricks

red_line.png

  1. Your illaoiw.png W will automatically proc and trigger Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy. You want to use this on the enemy as often as possible to get the resources.
  2. If you are against a ranged champion, then you should play relatively safe and avoid trading unless you hit your illaoie.png E. This is because most trades could go bad and leave you off worse.
  3. Before going for any trades, you want to hit your illaoie.png E on the enemy champion. This is because it will do increased damage and allow you to continue trading for longer.
  4. You should avoid using your illaoir.png Ultimate if you miss your illaoie.png E. This is because your illaoir.png Ultimate is rather lack-luster if you miss your illaoie.png E.
  5. Thanks to your illaoipassive.png Passive, you will get illaoipassive.png tentacles that are placed around the lane. If you can go for trades when they are nearby, using your illaoiw.png W will result in them slamming down and causing more damage to the enemies!
  6. Your illaoiw.png W is an auto attack reset, so it is important to AA then use your illaoiw.png W.
  7. You can fast push waves and split push easily with your illaoiw.png W and your illaoiq.png Q.
  8. In many occasions, the enemy mistaking your damage will result in easy wins. If you think you can fight 1v2, then go for it. Stand your ground and fight them. Make sure you hit your illaoie.png E before using your illaoir.png Ultimate.
  9. You need to aim your illaoiq.png Q on both he illaoie.png Spirit and the enemy champion to deal increased damage.
  10. If you can chase successfully, then once a illaoie.png Spirit has been released, you can chase the enemies. This is because the enemy will be slowed once their illaoie.png Spirit is returned.
  11. Your illaoiw.png W can be used on towers to destroy them quickly and deal more damage. Remember to AA + illaoiw.png W + AA.
  12. The early game is the weakest for 420.png Illaoi but can be easily turned if you hit your illaoie.png E on the enemy. Once hit, you can follow up with your illaoiw.png W and illaoiq.png Q abilities.
  13. 420.png Illaoi's illaoiw.png W is considered a Dash, this means taking Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32 Sudden Impact will give you increased lethality and allow your abilities and auto attacks to penetrate the enemy.
  14. Because 420.png Illaoi is taking Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy, you need to abuse this as often as possible to receive the most gold and resources.
  15. If the resources you receive from Kleptomancy.png?width=32 Kleptomancy are not needed, then you can sell them for more gold.
  16. 2033.png Corrupting Potion doesn't work with Mana_Potion_item.png Mana Potions. Keep this in mind when going for trades.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros and Cons

red_line.png

While 420.png Illaoi seems to be one of the best champions in the games with her amazing outplay potential thanks to her kit. She does have some issues. I have had some great fun playing 420.png Illaoi and writing this guide, and I hope that you enjoy playing her too. She can usually turn any 1v2 fight into a win or a trade thanks to her burst- that is if you hit your illaoie.png E! Without further ado, let's get into the pros and cons of 420.png Illaoi.

red_line.png

Pros of Illaoi

  • She is fun to play.
  • Outplaying enemies is the best part of her kit, and provides great satisfaction.
  • Relatively easy to understand and not boring.
  • Great versus tanks.

Cons of Illaoi

  • Not very good early.
  • Struggles against ranged champions because she is melee and her abilities are weak against ranged champions.
  • Immobile and rather slow.
  • Easy to kite and kill when behind.

Combos Back to Top

Illaoi Example Combos

red_line.png

Illaoi has some good combos in her kit. The problem is that you will often find yourself mashing buttons in team fights. This is normal on Illaoi because of the reduction on her illaoiw.png W. With that said, here are some combos for Illaoi throughout the game. Each has its benefits and its cons.

Before going for any combo. Make sure you watch the map and keep an eye on what the enemy has. It is important to not trade or use any combos if the enemy Jungler is headed to your lane.

Example 1:

illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q | This is an example combo in the early game. You can use this when yourillaoie.png  E is on cooldown. Make sure to aim your illaoiq.png Q in the correct position to get the damage done!

Example 2:

illaoie.png E + illaoiw.png W | This is a standard early game combo. You want to use this combo at level 2. Remember to auto attack the Spirit!

Example 3:

illaoie.png E + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q | This is the standard level 3 all in combo. You will use this combo at level 3 and throughout the laning phase.

Example 4:

illaoie.png E + illaoir.png R + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q | Standard level 6 combo. This is a combo you will mostly use against a melee champion.

Example 5:

illaoie.png E + illaoir.png R + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q + illaoiw.png W + illaoiw.png W | Standard fighting combo. You will use this in team fights and exchanges. The W cooldown will be reduced thanks to your Ultimate.

Example 6:

illaoir.png R + illaoie.png E + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q + illaoiw.png W | This is a unique combo and something you will not be using often. You want to maximize all your abilities and use them whenever they are up.

Example 7:

illaoie.png E + illaoir.png R + illaoiw.png W + illaoiw.png W + illaoiq.png Q | Final example combo. You should illaoie.png E the enemy first before using your Ultimate and then follow up with the rest of your abilities. This is a team fighting example.

Team fighting Back to Top

Teamfighting

red_line.png

420.png Illaoi is really good at team fighting. She is one of the strongest team fighters in my opinion because of her AOE abilities and insane illaoir.png Ultimate. She also has a lot of sustain thanks to her item choices and illaoipassive.png tentacles. If you can, try to get as many illaoipassive.png Tentacles around you as possible before going for a fight. This is because they will do more damage to enemies if you have a few around.

Her team fighting is pretty basic because of her kit. You can focus absulutely anyone in team fights thanks to your AOE abilities. As long as the enemy is grouped quite closely then you can use your full combo on the enemy team.

red_line.png

Thanks to your illaoie.png E ability, you have a lot of damage and potentual to kill anybody it hits. So it is important to focus and hit it on anyone you can. In team fights, you can either focus the enemy backline or the enemy frontline. Assuming you hit them with your illaoie.png E, and the enemy is grouped- then fighting should be no problem.

Things to remember in team fights:

  • Focus anybody and everyone with your abilities.
  • Try to line up your illaoiq.png Q on as many enemies as possible. Use your illaoiq.png Q on both enemies and the illaoie.png Spirits.
  • You want to fight in close quatres to get the most out of your illaoir.png Ultimate.
  • You must his your illaoie.png E in team fights to do insane ammounts of damage, and you must follow it up with your illaoiw.png W's and illaoiq.png Q's on the enemy.
  • Avoid using your illaoir.png Ultimate unless you are fighting.
  • Make sure your team is nearby when you fight. This is the most important thing to remember as they need to help you.
Remember, you can focus anybody. So try your best to hit anybody with your abilities. Make sure your team is there to follow up, and that you hit your illaoie.png E. Do not waste your illaoir.png Ultimate.
