Summoner Spells Back to Top

I run Flash tp in 90% of my games, provides great map control.

Flash Ignite into sustain lanes, or if you need to kill your laner fast and snowball

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

I like playing more like of an aggro lane, that is why I run 18/12/0 into Fervor, than 18/0/12. That's all up to you in general, but I'm only giving you my choice.

Before you say anything - Q > E. Always. Forget about the old Irelia stuff, this one jumps with a 3.6s CD on Q at level 5 with 40 CDR (which you should prioritize)

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

If you start Corrupting Potion - uninstall the game!
Grab one of these (always rush hexdrinker into AP lane)

Core Items

Core items (try not overstacking cdr though)
    a must-have
    Pick 2 at most
You will need at least one of these
A build against balanced enemy team
    Against full AD team

Situational Items

Trinkets - by what your team needs. Veil - When they have too much lockdown and you have to be the engager. Wit's End - if you have full AD team, some magic damage will come in handy

VS

Aatrox

Easy

Fight him after you hit lvl 4. If he tries to Q you, that means that he is receiving a gank. Dodge it at all costs and you can either force a 1v2 (or 1v1 fight if he is stupid enough to engage with it alone) fight, but make sure you can win it. Ignite favors you in this matchup, and you can pop it after you trigger his passive to nullify all means to survive. Once you get a kill, it's pretty much game over for him

VS

Akali

Medium

Tank Akali has always been a pain in the ass. The first one to get a kill in this matchup snowballs the game hard, so make sure to dominate her. Vision wards are a MUST after she hits 6

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

Avoid early fights. Once you hit 4-5, you can freely fight him, as he has no means of really killing you, unless he poked you hard before. Make sure to turn on your W (MAX IT FIRST!!!) when you see his W animation, as it won't be silenced and you can harass him with your true damage. Also be very aware of his 6, he can oneshot you in the blink of an eye

VS

Darius

Easy

Towerhug until 4, take 2nd point in W and completely rape him. If he tries to hit you with Q, immediately do W-Q onto him, as you won't get a stack of his passive and he won't get his healing from it. If you get a kill pre-6, it's pretty much game over. Also don't let him stack his passive after lvl 6. Seriously, don't.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Harass him all you want at level 1, he has no response to your attacks other than a cleaver. Bring ignite in this lane and rush Executioner's Calling to completely shut down his ultimate.

VS

Ekko

Easy

Never lost a lane to an Ekko. simply avoid his Q's, and when he tries to jump to you with E, stun the mofo and make him eat a full rotation of your spells. Rush Hexdrinker in this matchup, then go for triforce.

VS

Fiora

Medium

Skill matchup. The one to land her stun first wins. Make sure you bait her Riposte before you use your stun, or try to cancel your E animation with Q, or cover it with your ultimate. Don't let her get all of your vitals, it would destroy you. Overall, avoid fights before level 3 unless you can help it.

VS

Gangplank

Easy

Seriously, who plays this champion? Rush Q - E and engage him at level 2. He has no means of fighting you then. Abso-fucking-lutely no means. Once you get sheen you can do whatever you want to him. Use your ulti to open a path for your reset to keep up with his running. BEWARE! - some GP's might bring Exhaust to the lane. Just be very cautios when he drops it.

VS

Garen

Medium

Take W as first spell and turn it on when he leaps to you with his Q, as your true damage won't be silenced. You can chunk him at half health at level 1 that way. Youmuu's Ghostblade will favour you a lot in this matchup if you have a lead over him early. Beward of his level 6, especially if you are marked. Then avoid fights at all costs, or you will spell your own demise

VS

Gnar

Easy

He won't be much of a trouble in levels 3-5, he only pokes you with Q and does nothing else. Bait his gnarE.png and show him hell. Rush Phage if the lane goes even, and Sheen if you managed to snatch a kill. Again, be wary of his 6 and he is in Mega GNAR

VS

Illaoi

Medium

Medium to Hard lane, depending on how goodthe Illaoi player is. Try not to butt in too much and avoid her Q's and E's. Call your jungler for an early gank if possible. If she somehow catches you with her E, immediately turn on her to preserve your spirit. Try not to fight her from level 6 on, as her ultimate is a so-called 1v5 killing machine.

VS

Irelia

Medium

The mirror matchup goes like that - The first one to use her stun, LOSES!

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

Fight him after level 3. This lane is a breeze unless you mess up big time, as he only has high damage in the first 2 levels, after that you counter him completely, as you can escape his combo AND ultimate

VS

Jax

Medium

Bait his jaxcounterstrike.png, and if possible Q to a low health minion to get your reset while he hasn't activated it again. When he does - SHOW HIM HELL!

VS

Jayce

Easy

Nasty poker. Towerhug until level 4, avoid his Shock blast/Accel gate combo so that you won't get too much of a poke. Don't Q to him before he uses his jayceE.png, because he will escape your reach. Jayce is weak to all-in's, he can only poke.

VS

Kennen

Medium

Rush Hexdrinker, Max E if the Kennen is good, and W if he's not. Bait his E and give him AIDS with your damage. Try not to get too much poke pre-3, or it's game over for you.

VS

Kled

Easy

That's a cannon minion. In strenght. Literally. ireliagatotsu.png a minion next to him, or let him catch you with his kledQ.png, because this spell favors you more than him, stun him right in the face. When he dismounts, ireliagatotsu.png his ass and give him hell

VS

Maokai

Easy

I rarely see him these days, but he's not a pain at all. Fight him after level 4 all you want, he can't do anything at all. Save your ireliagatotsu.png for his maokaitrunkline.png, as it knocks you back. If he gets you with maokaiunstablegrowth.png in the middle of the lane, that means he is receiving a gank, so try not to overextend

VS

Nasus

Hard

Better ask your jungler to literally sleep on your lane, because after he gets 120+ stacks, you're doomed, unless you build up a nice lead before. Make sure to get an early Quicksilver Sash to nullify his wither.png, because it's a spell, deadly to you.

VS

Olaf

Easy

Run Ignite, rush Executioner's Calling, and don't get poked too much at levels 1-3. After 4 you can eat him alive all you want, as your scaling is better from then on. His olafragnarok.png makes him lose his resistances in exchange for AD, so try to all-in him then. Since you have the upper hand with Exe Calling and Ignite, you shouldn't be afraid at all from him, as he won't heal and is a free kill.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

He can poke, and kill you early. I found a way to beat him with double Doran's Blade and a Sheen, this is where you outscale him in the mid-game. Make sure to warn your laners of his absence, as he can ult somewhere and get a kill which is NOT good at all.

VS

Renekton

Medium

Don't get close to him before you hit level 4. Even miss CS if you have to, but don't keep close to him as his renektonpreexecute.pngrenektoncleave.png combo will mess up your health bar. Fight him only at levels 4-5-7-9+. Running Cloth-4 in this matchup might prove useful. Ninja Tabi is a must-buy!

VS

Riven

Easy

If she doesn't get a kill early, she becomes useless. Don't attack her when she pops her E, as you will be wasting your time while she deals free damage to you. Never do short trades with Riven, especially after level 6, only all-ins!

VS

Singed

Easy

You are his full counter, because you can match his mobility and your true damage melts him. Hexdrinker will come in handy here. Don't chase him after he gets his Rylai's, or you will spell your own demise

VS

Sion

Hard

Oh well, he can poke you all he wants and get away with it. If he turns on his shield and is next to you, try to pop it, so that it won't deal damage to you. Call your jungler for help, and keep in mind his passive is ALWAYS up. Don't dive him when his cannibalism.png is up

VS

Swain

Medium

Run Ignite in this lane if you want early kill, but I'd rather take Teleport. Rush Executioner's Calling and Hexdrinker after. Mercury Treads are must-buy. Run away from his swainbeam.png, especially when he used his swaintorment.png on you. If he tries to swainshadowgrasp.png you, escape to a minion with low helth, and hop right back to him. You will dominate the lane once you get a kill, for you will have your Exe Calling ready and will nullify his Ultimate

VS

Trundle

Medium

This matchup varies from medium to hard, depending on how good the Trundle player is. I prefer taking Ignite into him for a level 2-3 first blood, as he has only 1 damaging spell early, but can cockblock you with his other 2. Try saving your ireliagatotsu.png for after he uses them, that should do it. Be aware of his 6, he can turn the battle unexpectedly there. Rush Executioner's Calling into Triforce, and hope for the best

VS

Tryndamere

Hard

His early DPS is a lot more than yours early on, so avoid fighting him, unless you are sure that you can win the trade. I'd pick Ignite in this matchup and use it just before his undyingrage.png ends, to nullify his healing after the ability wears off, and potentially, if you stayed healthy, kill him. Jungler's help is always appreciated.

Side note - if you are not sure that you can beat him, take Teleport in this lane

VS

Vladimir

Medium

Again - Medium to Hard. Ignite in this lane is a MUST, because you have no way to match his sustain if you get in a fight early on. Rush Executioner's call into Hexdrinker, and call your jungler for ganks. Save your ireliagatotsu.png for after his vladimirsanguinepool.png runs off, because of the MS boost he gets in this form. Jungler's help is always welcome.

Side note - Pay attention to his resource bar, if it turns red - RUN!

Side note 2 - When you see him charging his vladimirtidesofblood.png, hide behind minions to avoid damage.

VS

Yasuo

Easy

Simply said - Yasuo. Nobody below Diamond 3 can play him properly. Autoattack him once to pop his passive shield and when it runs out, stun him, and start beating the shit out of him. If he starts to run on minions - try either using ireliagatotsu.png to him, if you can kill him immediately, or clear a path with your ireliatranscendentblades.png on the minions to secure a resetting chase

Mastery Back to Top

Hello everyone, and welcome to my guide. I'm a passionate Irelia main since the beginning of Season 5, and I have 1 Million mastery points on my Irelia On Drugs account, and more than 400k, scattered across other accounts. Since many people always ask me for builds and advices on her, I decided to make this guide (you know, I'm a lazy person xD), so that nobody will bother me, because I had some cases when I taught some people to play her and then turned against me, but that's another story. Anyway guys, enjoy the mastery points ;3
