Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png and 12.png are a mandatory pick on Irelia in most cases. Since the recent nerfs to 3.png, it's no longer a viable option when compared to teleport. Teleport allows you to go back to your lane after your first back in case you either got poked out from a bad trade, or died. Experience and gold are very important for Irelia.

Masteries Back to Top

This page is designed to help you survive almost any lane. You should never be forced out of lane if you farm safely with this rune page.

You can easily switch out the Perseverance mastery for Insight if you're confident in your play-making, and if you're vs tanks changing Recovery into Unyielding is also ideal. You should try to keep in mind that every mastery is situational, so try to change them accordingly.

Going Q level one is the safest pick out of all your options. If you're against a Riven or Renekton, it's usually a good choice to opt for a level in your E before W at level 2.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

This is Irelia's general start vs most match-ups. You'll usually want to build Corrupting Potion vs other champions who also have mana pools.
This is a favored pick of mine because of the passive sustain it gives you. Choose it if you're against Kennen, Jayce, or Teemo.

Core Items

This is Irelia's core build in almost all games. If you ever go behind in this build, rush Ninja Tabi and then finish your Triforce.

Situational Items

These are situational items that can be built depending on your match-ups or if you're ahead/behind.
forbidden items. do not build these. irelia only needs 2 damage items to kill priority champions.

The build order(s) are as follows:

Core Build:
Triforce -> Ninja Tabi -> Blade of the Ruined King -> Health + Armor/MR item -> Guardian Angel -> Situational

VS AD & Behind:

Ninja Tabi -> Phage -> Triforce -> Deadman's vs melee, Randuin's vs ranged -> Guardian Angel -> Situational

VS Magic & Behind:
Hexdrinker -> Phage -> Triforce -> Mercury Treats (if CC heavy) -> Maw of Malmortius -> Randuins -> GA

Below there will be match-ups with more detailed builds depending on whether you're behind or not.

VS

Darius

Hard

This is one of Irelia's hardest match-ups by far. Darius naturally counters most melee champions, our babe included. Because of this, you need to play as safe as possible while still farming and hitting your power spikes. I highly recommend you rushing Ninja Tabi into Phage before even considering trading with him. If you fall very behind, build Dead Man's plate before completing your Triforce. (Assuming you have Ninja Tabi + Phage before)

I highly recommend communicating with your jungle for a gank. It's one of Darius' crippling weaknesses, mind the pun. If you go even/ahead, stick to the core build. Also remember that the first 4 levels are the hardest for Irelia, while level 6 is the most dangerous, even if you're fighting in the enemy creep wave with your ultimate.

For runes I'd go full atk-speed since Darius himself will most likely rush armor after he finishes Black Cleaver. Your starter item should be either Doran's blade for easier last-hitting under turret, or armor + 4 health potions.

Don't forget to PLAY THIS SAFE during the laning phase unless you're getting a gank!
