Summoner Spells Back to Top

Hey everyone, it's your boy The Ivern God! I am an Ivern One Trick POny on EUW and NA peak Masters 150+LP in Season 7. My ign is Mattheos (EUW), thepurplegherkin (EUW) and 1nsanemofo (NA). Hope you find this quick guide helpful, I will try to keep it as fresh as possible and improve it at every opportunity.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask or add me in game. I also have a YT Channel: www.youtube.com/mattheos and Twitch Stream: www.twitch.tv/raidbossmattheos. Here, I possibly have content uploaded already which you may find helpful. Alternatively, you can also reach out to me on Twitter @MattheosLoL or on my Discord: discord.gg/uDyRPp3

First questions many people will be asking: Why Ivern support? And is Ivern support viable?
The answer to these two questions are usually because I was off-role or auto-filled support and hell yeah he is viable! He has a unique play style as support similar to a heavy roaming bard or blitz, but it can work very successfully especially in solo or duo queue! Just make sure that your adc is comfortable with you leaving him for long periods of time and communicate with him to play safe until you show back in lane :)

You need 6332.png over 6331.png when playing Ivern in the support role.

6363.png is certainly the best choice mastery but if you wish to experiment and play "tank Ivern" you can also try 6262.png make choo choo noises and pretend to be a tank engine :)

Everything else, should be self-explanatory but any questions feel free to leave in the comments sections below!

Start ivernq.png for increased mobility / CC when you invade and steal enemies buff at lvl 1.

Max iverne.png for stronger shields.

3158.png or 3117.png depending on preference. 3117.png is high impact ganking as it allows you to roam faster. 3158.png is safer choice and means you can steal more camps away from the enemy jungler.

3504.png --> 3711.png --> 3107.png --> 3190.png   Core Build for Ivern Support right now, rush 3504.png for OP shields and then 3711.png to secure vision control of enemy jungler. 3107.png and 3190.png for support heals and shields. Rework to  3504.png is actually a hidden buff for Ivern Jungle/Support as it means that he benefits in his early-mid game with the base stats which helped other scaling supports more.

3109.png or 3174.png  depending on your enemy team composition if you need the Magic Resist and CDR or increased Armor and ADC protection.

Item Build Guide follows pretty much the same as Ivern in Jungle role :)

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

Support/Jungle Ivern Strategy Back to Top

The key to playing Ivern in the support role is to abuse his early game passive ability and 11.png to counter-jungle invade and steal enemy camps from the enemy jungler, and also roam as much as possible setting up ganks using all of th CC in his kit. This puts both the enemy jungler 1-2 levels behind and helps your laners win lane in the early game if carried out successfully. Essentially, you become a 2nd jungler for your team - you must however make sure you rotate back to bot to assist your adc whenever he is pushed under turret to avoid him getting dove 2v1.

Around, the 8 minute mark you want to start diving using Daisy typically in the most winning lane on your team to secure the first turret blood and then rotate to first drake if you haven't already taken it. If your top laner is running 12.png mid or bot lane is typically the best lane to gank at this stage of the game, try to communicate with your jungler and roam with him at all times.

At 15 minutes into the game you want to encourage your team to pick 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 skirmishes in the mid-lane and enemy jungle when Ivern is close to completing 2 of his core items after boots. At this stage Ivern has a huge power spike on many enemy junglers/supports and can solo carry team fights even with losing laners through his busted OP shields and CC. After winning a teamfight and kill 2 or more of the enemy team you want to secure the Rift Herald if you haven't done so already and use it on any lane that you have access to a T2 turret to pressure the inhibitor turret.

From 20 minutes onawards if you are even or ahead you want to focus around rushing or baiting team fights at Baron by removing the enemy vision and using your ivernw.pngto create a line without enemy vision and then find picks with ivernq.png,ivernr.png and iverne.png for your front line to follow up on. After securing Baron look to recall, group as a team and close out the game by running it down mid Tyler 2.0 beast mode.

Note: If you find your team or yourself are significantly behind look to turtle instead using all of Ivern's kit and activatables to peel for your team and defend turrets whilst they wave clear. Again, you can create brush lines under turrets to provide your teammates with safe places to hide where enemy champions have to throw blind skillshot abilities in hope of poking them. This approach will keep you in the game and give you a chance to win but to master Ivern you want to be executing the aggressive, pro-active strategy I outlined above to close out games in 30 mins or less as after 30 mins Ivern's effectiveness drops off massively.
