Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png  - This is always a must on Janna.

3.png - You should take this in almost every lane as your main job is to peel and help your carries get fed.

14.png - I would only take this in a 16.png lane (if my adc is a bully in lane, I don't if they are a passive farm lane). However I prefer exhaust over ignite almost all the time, it's just a better summoner spell with Janna.

Masteries Back to Top

This is my usual Janna page. The 18 points in the cunning branch will always remain the same when I play Janna. In resolve you should be taking recovery and explorer. However, you can decide whether you want runic armor and insight (I take these two whenever I am not in a lane where my health is constantly low) or veteran's scars and perseverance (I take these two in a lane that has a lot of poke and burst like 143.png161.png63.png).

jannapassive.png - Tailwind - Increases the movement speed of all allied champions moving towards Janna by 8%. Use this to help allies get back to lane faster and you can hover your mouse over the passive to see its range. It's also useful for helping allies escape or catch up to an enemy faster.

howlinggale.png -Howling Gale - By creating a localized change in pressure and temperature, Janna is able to create a small storm that grows in size with time. She can activate the spell again to release the storm. On release this storm will fly towards the direction it was cast in, dealing damage and knocking away any enemies in its path. You can use this to slow an enemy champion from escaping or you can use it to stop an enemy from getting to you or your carry. If someone is chasing you, wait till they are almost to the point where you set your q and then release. The enemy will be knocked up for longer and it will also increase your q distance. You can also use this to cancel an enemy champion ability if it would allow them to get near your carry or if it's a channel such as 55.png18.png76.png89.png42.png254.png. You can use it to stop dashes or pulls that would normally land on your carry.

sowthewind.png -  Zephyr - Janna summons an air elemental that passively increases her movement speed and enables her to pass through units. She may also activate this ability to deal damage and slow an enemy's movement speed. The passive is lost while this ability is on cooldown.Be careful when you are trying to escape from an enemy because if there is more than one around this will slow you down and it will not be worth using. While this ability is down you will lose your passive movement speed and you will not be able to pass through units such as champions, minions, or monsters and this includes allies and enemies. This ability is great to use if you want to slow down an enemy champion so that one of your carries can secure the kill.

eyeofthestorm.png - Eye Of The Storm - Janna conjures a defensive gale the shields an ally champion or turret from incoming damage and increase their attack damage. You should use this when one of your carries is taking damage from an enemy champion if the enemy laners try to trade with one of you. You should also use this when your adc trades with someone else because it will allow them to cause more damage. When you are trading you should never use this on yourself unless you will die otherwise because your adc will have more damage, sometimes range, and attack speed. This ability goes well with 3504.png because it increases attack speed and your shield will boost attack damage.

reapthewhirlwind.png - Monsoon - Janna surrounds herself in a magical storm, throwing enemies back. After the storm has settled, soothing winds heal nearby allies while the ability is active. You can use this ability to get enemies off of your carries. This is great against a team fighting comp that could include 54.png55.png122.png254.png157.png111.png113.png although there are still many different champions that your ult can disengage. I also like to use this when my team is sieging a base or we are at baron and need more health. You can also use your ult to split up enemy champions or you can push a champion towards your team if you know that they won't kill anyone.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

This is my favorite start on Janna because it will give you the most gold and you usually will play passive and won't get enough gold out of spell thief's.
You can start with spell thief's but you aren't going to get as much gold as you would if you took coin. If you do not plan on finishing your support item and plan on building it into your sightstone, take coin.

Core Items

If you start with coin these will be your core items.
If you start with spell theif's edge these will be your core items.
I personally like to use lucidity boots because they give you a 10% cool down reduction on summoner spells. However, mobility boots are still a great pick.
I like to use Ruby Sighstone because item active cooldowns are reduced by 20% and when you are playing Janna, you have a ton. However, the other two sighstones where you combine your support items are also great picks.

Situational Items

One of my favorite items with Janna because with coin and her shield it is super easy to stack. I usually like to get this when I am ahead and not dying a lot. You should only take it if you don't die a lot because you will lose stacks. Be careful if the enemy has an assassin because this item will be difficult to stack. (Gives you ability power and mana.)
Mikael's Crucible is great against an enemy team that has a lot of cc or slows. You can also use this for a heal if needed. (Gives magic resist, cdr, and base mana regen.)
I like to get this item when I have a carry that has a lot of attack speed such as a Vayne, Twitch, or Jinx. This works so well with your shield because your shield gives extra attack damage and this item will give allied champion +15% attack speed and +30 on-hit magic damage for 6 seconds. (Gives you ability power, cdr, and base mana regen).
Locket - I like to take this against a team with a lot of ap or an ap champ with large aoe such as Kayle or Brand. The shield is very nice and will help a team that isn't very tanky. Banner - I like to take this against a team with a lot of ap or an ap champ with large aoe such as Kayle or Brand. This is really nice against a team with a split pushing ap or a team that has a lot of ap because it will be harder for them to clear waves.
This is a great item to give your adc and yourself some power when you generate 100 charges. For this to be useful, you need to be near your adc and MAKE SURE that they are not over 50% crit chance, if they are, do not buy this item. (Gives you mana, armor, ability power, cdr, and the charge passive.)
Build this item against a team that has a lot of cc. This will help to save you from burst or cc. (Gives you health, magic resist, and base health regeneration, along with a spell shield.)
This is a really good item against a team that relies on attack speed and attack damage. (Gives you armor, mana, and cooldown reduction.)
