Summoner Spells Back to Top

Hello everyone, I am Rushcore, but you can just call me Rush. I am a high silver to low gold player in EUW. My account was Silver II on solo queue and Gold IV on flex, which I was playing with my team mainly, Red Gaming Syndicate, up until the point where Riot decided to ban my account for scripting (and no I was not scripting but Riot won't listen to reason). Anyways, for reference here is my stat pages on LolKing and op.gg:
http://www.lolking.net/summoner/euw/20964332/Rushcore
https://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=Rushcore

I have decided to make this guide on Jax after attempting to one trick him for a while and actually improving and having good results, achieving over 100k mastery points on him and mastery level 7. He was my most played champion for the past couple of months and I have realized Jax is one of the most versatile champions in League of Legends, in my opinion, and how you play it will depend on your preferences but also, if you want to use Jax to his full potential, on the enemy team and how you can exploit their weaknesses.

Anyways, onto the summoner spells:
Pretty straight forward, you can either go for map pressure with 4.png+12.png
Or you can go for lane pressure with 4.png+14.png

Each of these spell composition have a different implication in the game overall and should be picked according to what you want to do out of the game (your Jax role).

4.png - Flash - You will always want to take, always. You can use it to engage, you can use it to escape engages, make plays, secure kills, etc...

12.png - Teleport - This is your go to spell if you want to create map pressure. You will use this to look for plays on bot lane, and late game for split push but join the fights with your team mates. This is my go to spell when playing with my team because it require good coordination, it requires your team to place a decent ward for you to teleport onto. This is also your defensive lane spell, if you think you are in a bad matchup and will need to teleport back to lane often, you take it.

14.png - Ignite - This is your cheese summoner spell, when you want to create lane pressure and crush your opponents all the way. Also useful against high regening champions like Darius, Mundo or Trundle. This is for your aggressive lane, when you want to shove as hard as you can and dominate lane. Remember to get appropriate wards when shoving, also remember you will lose map pressure, so not really recommended against champions with high mobility and map pressure like Quinn or Shen, because you won't be able to follow up.

Masteries Back to Top

About the masteries, I actually run 2 different mastery pages on Jax. This relates to what I told you earlier about Jax being so versatile, and I will explain both in this section.
The above is your Standard Jax page, which will be present in the big majority of your games, while the other mastery page is purely situational, but I sometimes run it for specific matchups/team comps.

Starting from the Ferocity tree:
Fury - Take 5 points here, that is 4% extra attack speed, combine that with the already existant attack speed boost quints you will have already a decent advantage early over your opponent, and we all know Jax is very attack speed reliant to accumulate his own passive and maximize his dps.
Fresh Blood - Take this one over the other 2 for obvious reasons, you want to max your damage as much as possible. You don't really need Expose Weakness as your playing a carry champion yourself, so taking this over Fresh Blood means you will be minimizing your own damage for other carries that might not always be present in a fight. You also don't really need Feast as on Jax you will be building a life steal item early on anyways and you don't need that sustain.
Natural Talent - I have run both Vampirism and Natural Talent on Jax, and while Vampirism helps early on with the sustain, it becomes obsolete as soon as you get 1 life steal item as you won't feel much of its significance, as opposed to Natural Talent which just grows stronger with Jax, and we all know Jax is a natural late game hyper carry anyways. Also don't forget Jaxs' skills are hybrid, which means those 15 extra ability damage, despite very little, will have more impact maximizing your damage than Vampirism.
Battle Trance - This is where my opinion might vastly diverge from other guides. Some will say take Double Edged Sword instead, because it will give u a very big damage increase, however, in my experience, this will give you a troubled early game, where you are squishy and those 1.5% increased damage to you might make a big difference, and you still need the survivability to actually deal damage, since you can't do damage while you are dead. You are playing Jax, not Karthus. Bounty Hunter might be a decent option, as if you get at least 3 kills in a game, which you probably will, it will give you a decent boost in damage (like when you go 15 3 7 for example). HOWEVER, this does not help you early, and your early is important to snow ball, which is why I take on my tree Battle Trance instead. This gives you that nice 3% boost throughout the whole game without taking the extra 1.5% back, it helps you early game to snowball into that late game hyper carry you oh so desperately want.
Battering Blows - The choice on this one is pretty obvious in my opinion, since despite being a hybrid, most of Jax damage will come from physical damage, so there's no point in taking Piercing Thoughts, or even splitting points between each of them.
KEY STONE - Fervor Of Battle - This is your preferred keystone mastery on Jax. Jax loves extended fights, he builds up more and more attack speed and with Fervor of Battle your damage per hit will increase along with it. You shouldn't even consider any other Keystone on Jax (safe for the setup I will talk about bellow).

On the Resolve tree:
Recovery - Take 5 points here, as this will help you sustain in lane, specially if you are getting poked. Unyielding can be nice and I have taken it to test but you will lack the hp recovery, forcing you to back off lane way more often than you should, since you need to hold your lane and farm, farm, farm. Much like Tryndamere and Gangplank, your massive farm will make the difference in late game.
Tough Skin - Take this one over the others as the damage reduction will also help you endure laning phase while still being somewhat useful in late game, as opposed to the other 2. Siege Master isn't really useful because, as Jax you want to push out your lane and even force your opponent and go for kills and not stay under turret unless really necessary, while Explorer would only be useful if you roam a lot mid or to enemy jungle, but you probably won't because as Jax you need that much lane pressure.
Runic Armor - This is another point my tree diverges from other guides I have seen. While Veteran Scars does help you early game a lot, 50hp will not make much difference late game, while Runic Armor will make a huge impact in your sustain as soon as you buy life steal, and in my time playing Jax, this just made way more sense to me. If it is the other way around for you, by all means, take Veteran Scars instead.
Insight - Because having cooldown decreased to Flash in or out of fights is useful and gives you advantage, or because having your cooldown decreased on your Teleport gives you way more map pressure, or on your Ignite lane pressure, this will be more useful than the other masteries here. You don't really need the hp regen on Perseverance as you will just outsustain people in extended fights, and Fearless, might actually be useful if you are left alone against 2 or even 3 enemies, or if you are your team's front line, but, the cooldown reduction on your summoner spells will overall beat that anyways.

Why not take points in the Cunning tree instead of Resolve?
You can take it, if you want to play a more aggressive Jax and benefit from the extra running speed and increase damage, but in my opinion, for late game hyper carry Jax you need the survivability Resolve gives. If you do want to run an 18 12 0 tree, you should keep the Ferocity tree as is on this one, and from the Cunning tree, take Wanderer for the running speed, Assassin for the extra damage, Merciless for the extra damage as well and Dangerous Game to save yourself in case you decided to make some tower dive plays or if the fight was just that close and one single minion hit could be enough to kill you off.

BURST JAX - Remember me telling you I run 2 different? Well this is it. This is my situational Burst Jax mastery page.
d7565ae2ceb8e178f48a9be7fe2e629c.png

When to use this mastery setup? There are 2/3 situations where you might want to use it:
1. Enemy team is going for a team comp and everyone is squishy, and in this scenario there will be no extended team fights, in which case what you want to do is do as much damage as possible in the least amount of time possible (will explore this a bit further in the ability section but it will be your basic E>Q>E>W combo).
2. When, despite, enemy team having tanks as like, in the jungle (Amumu, Sejuani, etc..) or support (Leona, Braum, etc..) your enemy top laner is trying to cheese you and going for picks like Quinn, Vayne, Teemo. And for these you won't have an extended fight either because they will try to kite you around, so you want to burst them down as fast as you possibly can.
3. This one is a bit of a 2 edged dagger, when your top laner matchup doesn't really matter, he might even be a tank and you need the extended fights, but you fear other lanes late game, where you might not get the chance to have an extended fight, or might be kited around way to easily, like Veigar's massive burst and his annoying CC, or a bot lane of Vayne hyper carry, or even a Soraka spamming heal on everyone and you need to instant kill her. You will be sacrificing yourself a bit early game, but in this situation you can just go for short trades with your lane opponent and use your stun to back off and win the trade. To help you in this scenario you might want to take Ignite with you, as it will help your burst even further and prevent heals of sorts.

In short: if you don't predict you will have extended fights and need burst, take this over the top mastery page.

About the tree in depth, for Ferocity:
Not much to say here, you will have the same reasons as on the top mastery page for each. One could question though, why not take Sorcery over Fury? Because even with the burst build, Jax still feeds on attack speed and benefits a lot more from Fury than he actually does from Sorcery, which is the same reason why you also maintain your runes with attack speed as is. I cannot stress this enough, attack speed is Jaxs' bread and butter. You NEED it.

On the Cunning tree:
Wanderer - Take 5 points. Running speed will help you engage better or chase down those squishy adcs. You get no benefit from Savagery, or at least not enough to take it.
Assassin - Not even necessary talking about other masteries here, it boosts your damage, you take it. You are not jungling and won't be getting blue or red from your jungler to take Runic Affinity and Secret Stash will decrease your overall damage over you sacrificing that Assassin damage on isolated targets.
Merciless - Take 5 points. Meditation doesn't really help you in any way and that damage increase is another more add up to your burst.
Dangerous Game - Greenfather's gift is more useful on junglers than top laners, even if you are trying to burst your enemy down from the top lane brushes, Bandit adds nothing to Jax really, and Dangerous Game is just great to help you survive those risky tower dive plays or team fight engages.
Precision - Lethality + magic penetration, just adding up more damage to your burst. If it bursts, you want it, that is the rule of thumb on this build. Intelligence, while useful for the cooldowns will reduce your burst, therefor not really wanted here.
KEY STONE - Thuderlord's Decree - The whole reason why this mastery setup exists is this keystone, it adds up so much burst to your Jax build it might just be enough to blow up a carry in one go, or at least put them out of the team fight. If you are using anything other than fervor on Jax it is because there will be no extended fights and you need burst, and this is the mother of burst key stones.

In this section, not only I will cover Jaxs' skills, but also some mechanics that go along with them.

jaxpassive.png - RELENTLESS ASSAULT - first let's talk about Jaxs' passive. It is one of my favorite passives in game and it is really strong, being one of the major skills that makes Jax the beast late game hyper carry he is. It gives, with each consecutive strike he deals, a boost in attack speed, which makes Jax feed off of attack speed items, runes and masteries, but also love extended fights. The faster you stack, the more you attack, the more DPS you have. About this passive, many Jax players will say "a good Jax player will always keep his stacks up". This is not necessarily true, because it will not always be possible, like when you are under heavy poke for example. A good Jax player will however, keep track of his stacks and know how to use them, and this is a big difference. While you might have low stacks because you are just passive farming due to a hard lane, you will know NOT to trade when doing so because you won't have maximum DPS. However, if you are pushing a wave and do have max stacks and someone tries to come for a trade, then you will want to trade, because you know you have a high amount of passive stacks that will boost your attack speed and win you the trade easy.

jaxleapstrike.png - LEAP STRIKE - Max Q first? Yes. Why? 2 reasons. First one is damage, at level one, while Leap Strike deals 70 physical damage (+1*bonus AD)(+0.6*AP) while W deals only 40 magical damage (+0.6*AP). Second reason is mobility, you can use Q on everything targetable in game, team wards, enemy wards, team minions, enemy minions, team champions, enemy champions, jungle monsters, everything, which offers very high mobility and therefor you can easily use this to engage a fight or use your 3340.png+jaxleapstrike.png to dodge a gank over a wall or just jaxleapstrike.png to a minion.

jaxempowertwo.png - EMPOWER - Max W second and there are 2 things of note on this skill. The first one is the obvious one, it empowers your next attack and deals bonus magic damage, this combined with 3057.png alone will do a nice burst, but the second and probably most important aspect of this skill is that actually makes your next attack faster too. Now this is very good for Jax because, like I said before, he thrives on attack speed to stack up and make himself attack faster, and this will not only make him burst but also attack and stack up faster. A good late game combo I like to use is jaxleapstrike.png+jaxempowertwo.png+3748.png and you got yourself 3 stacks in the time that would take you to get 1.5 with just regular auto attacks.

jaxcounterstrike.png - COUNTER STRIKE - This is the last skill you max but the first you take, and maybe one of the most important skills Jax has. You take a point on this at level 1 because you can out trade most of your lane opponents with it if they try to engage you early on, and much like every other Jax skill, there are 2 aspects to it. The first one is the auto attack dodge, for 2 seconds you will dodge all incoming auto attacks, or skills that behave like an auto attack (this will include Yasuo's yasuoqw.png, Yorick's yorickq.png, Trundle's trundletrollsmash.png, Wukong's monkeykingdoubleattack.png, Darius's dariusnoxiantacticsonh.png, you get the picture...). The second aspect of this skill is after its dodge duration is over Jax will stun everything around him. As if dodging all auto attacks for 2 seconds wasn't OP enough! You can also click jaxcounterstrike.png again during its duration to stun earlier, which gives you the liberty to make a number of plays out of this skill, like jaxcounterstrike.png>jaxleapstrike.png>jaxcounterstrike.png>jaxempowertwo.png for a nice engage stun and burst, if you are roaming or against a laner that needs to be bursted. A mistake I often see on Jax players though is using this trick incorrectly. While this makes for a great engage, it will leave you unprotected for the rest of the trade if you are, let's say vs a Tryndamere or a Xin Zhao, and they will destroy you in early laning phase this way. Instead you should jaxleapstrike.png>jaxcounterstrike.png>jaxempowertwo.png and let Counter Strike run out by itself, as this will negate 2 seconds of damage plus 1 second of stun rather than just the 1 second of stun, although most auto attackers will just turn tail and run as soon as you put Counter Strike up, since they can do nothing against it. A Disadvantage of this engage trick is that, unless you are roaming and coming out of a brush, it is predictable and easy to avoid, if you are not in range, they will just run back, or if you are and the enemy laner has a 3157.png he can just instantly use it. Or even in matchups like Lissandra she will lissandrar.png or Vladimir with his vladimirsanguinepool.png, but I discuss these more in detail in the matchup section. You can also abuse this skill to initiate team fights if you can get 3 or 4 enemies within your stun radius and do a jaxrelentlessassault.png>jaxcounterstrike.png>jaxleapstrike.png>jaxcounterstrike.png, or if you are front lining and can't stun more than 1 or 2 enemies or van't reach the enemy carry you can just leave Counter Strike active to increase your survivability and peel for your carries.

jaxrelentlessassault.png - GRANDMASTER'S MIGHT - Last but not least Jaxs' ultimate and first power spike. This is when your lane opponent truly starts fearing you, and again, there are 2 aspects to it, a Passive and an Active. Let's start with the PASSIVE: Every third strike Jax will deal bonus magic damage. This is the second reason Jax feeds off of attack speed, if you combine this with his passive jaxpassive.png and the attack speed masteries, and quints and items will add up to a massive DPS, and this is what we want in the end, attack speed to proc Jaxs' 2 passives (jaxpassive.png+jaxrelentlessassault.png). As for the ACTIVE aspect: I find the active skill of Jaxs' ultimate very useful because it allows you to stack damage only really needing to buy HP along with it. Basically activating Jaxs' ultimate will boost Jaxs' physical and magical resist scalling off his AD+AP. This will allow Jax to actually go full damage while still giving him good survivability. You should always use this when going into a fight, be it a 1v1 or a 5v5. The only exception to this rule is if you are facing a Trundle, since his trundlepain.png will steal these stats.

STARTING ITEMS - You can either start with the Corrupting Potion or the Doran's Blade + Health Potion. It is completely a matter of choice here. Corrupting Potion will give you better trades, while Doran's Blade will make your csing easier.

FIRST BACK - On your first back you should look to buy at least a Sheen to power up your early burst on Jax, simple enough. If, by any reason, you are forced out of lane and can't buy the whole Sheen, don't bother in buying the Saphire Crystal as it is pretty useless on Jax. Either get the 1050 gold for the whole thing or buy another trinity component like a Long Sword or a Ruby Crystal.

RUSH ITEMS - You aim is to get Trinity Force, Bilgewater Cutlass and Tier 1 Boots by 25mins tops. As for order of buy I usually go straight for the Cutlass and Boots after the Sheen for a simple reason: gank setup with jaxcounterstrike.png>jaxleapstrike.png>jaxcounterstrike.png for the engage, followed up by 3144.png slow to secure the kill. Now this is debatable and alot of Jax players will rush Trinity Force all the way, and that is fine, if it works for them, or for you, even better. This is what works for me. As for order of build in Trinity components, it should ALWAYS be: 3057.png>3044.png>3101.png. You will want phase because you can abuse the passive added run speed to catch up with escaping enemy laners and secure kills.

BOOTS - You have these 3 options when it comes to boot choices. I usually either go Mercury Threads VS an AP laner or AP/CC heavy team or Ninja Tabi's VS an auto attack enemy laner (i.e. Tryndamere) or AD heavy team. About the Berserker's Greaves, these are your boots of choice if you are absolutely destroying your enemy laner to a point where he won't kill you if you go afk and come back, these are your cheese carry boots.

CORE ITEMS - This is where opinions amongst Jax players diverge and also why Jax is such a versatile champion, which is I will explain these item choices one by one.
Standard Core - This is the item setup I usually run most games. Now, most Jax players will say, BOTRK is old meta, you should use Hextech Gunblade everytime instead. I disagree. Why? Because, like I said before, Jax feeds off of attack speed, which the Hextech Gunblade lacks, but also because Jax loves extended fights, and BOTRK will make Jax hit like a truck all the way through them. I usually run this in off tank matchups like Irelia or Wukong, when you feel that you will have extended fights through the game but also need some burst to blow up carries. You will most likely use this setup most games.
Burst Core - This is the item setup I run when enemy teams are very squishy and you do not predict any extended fights, in which all you need to do is jump in and blow someone up with the combo:
jaxrelentlessassault.png>jaxcounterstrike.png>jaxleapstrike.png>jaxcounterstrike.png>jaxempowertwo.png>3748.png
This is optimal on squishy top matchups as well like Quinn or Vayne, when they thought they were going to cheese top lane but you will now proceed to make them rethink their life decisions.
Tank Shredder Core - This is my personal favorite because the enemy laner is confident that building full tank will actually help vs Jax. It doesn't. When to take this item setup? When you are VS a tanky laner (i.e Garen, Darius, Shen, etc..) or overall tanky team even when enemy laner might not exactly be a tank (i.e. Amumu jungle, Leona Support, etc..). Why take these Guinsoo's Rageblade? Guinsoo's is an amazing item on Jax, it gains attack speed stacks along with Jaxs' passive stacks, it gives a base attack speed stat, and, my favorite, at 6 stacks convert Jaxs' ultimate passive from every 3rd hit bonus magic damage to every 2nd hit bonus magic damage. Why is this good vs tanks? because they will generally build armor to counter Jax and won't cover magic resist. If they do though, the attack speed you've accumulated through an extended fight will make BOTRK passive shred through a tank like he is butter. Can you build Trinity Force into this build? You can, but you honestly probably won't need it, since if you are building this you are VS a tanky team and you will already shred through and outsustain their entire team with these items alone, all you need now is hp and some resists to survive the whole fight. Just let your team collapse the carry and clean up the tanks like they are nothing.

3RD ITEM - Guardian Angel? Yes. Why? Because you are carrying the game at this point and the enemy team will likely try to focus you down. This will give you some resists plus a second fighting chance in case you do die.

ARMOR - These are your main armor items. Many Jax players will often build Randuin's Omen because, you know, it is in the recommended list and I should probably go defensive. WRONG! Randuin's Omen is very useful on Jax to add up to your resists vs auto attacks and crits after your E runs out (i.e. Tryndamere, Yasuo, Irelia, Gangplank, etc..). If however you are playing VS a team comp with 0 auto attackers (i.e. Darius top, Ezreal adc) this will add up nothing to Jax and you should probably just go Deadman's Plate. Deadman's Plate is also a good option to follow up your Burst Core build, since it gives you a bit of extra damage on your first hit. Thorn Mail is purely situational and you should only buy it if you are way behind VS some very fed auto attackers like Tryndamere or Master Yi.

MAGIC RESIST - On this section you can find the go to magic resist items for Jax. Your first item to think about will be Hexdrinker if you are struggling in lane VS a heavy AP laner and build it straight after trinity, or before if you are THAT behind, and turn it later into a Maw. If you are struggling VS an AP pokey champion you could also consider rushing a Spectre's Cowl and later turning it into a Banshee's Veil. The Banshee's Veil is specially useful VS heavy AP CC teams (i.e. Lissandra, Veigar, etc..). Wit's End is VERY situational and I have personally only used it once or twice but it is useful VS tanky teams who also are heavy in AP damage, when you need the magic resist but also the shred ability. Other situational item I didn't add but could fit in here as well is the Quick Silver Sash, but you wouldn't be using it unless you have something like a Malzahar matchup. You could also consider a Spirit Visage but I feel a Banshee's Veil benefits Jax more.

OTHER - Why have this section at all when I already put core plus defensive items down? Because those defensive items are to be used once you finished your core build and there is a concern on the enemy team (i.e. they have a fed Vayne, you need Randuin's Omen, they have a fed Annie, you need a Banshee's Veil, get the idea?). However if you are well ahead or just don't really have a big concern about what is going on in the enemy team why not build more damage? Because Jax will be squishy? Wrong. Remember Jaxs' ultimate? Yes, when active Jax will get a boost of armor and magic resist scalling off his AD and AP, so what Jax really needs to carry this even harder is some more damage mixed with HP. This is where these 2 items come in. First comes Sterak's Gage that will give you bonus damage and a passive auto trigger shield in case you get focused down. This along with the Guardian Angel you already build make you nearly unkillable. As for the Titanic Hydra, there are 2 very good things about it for Jax, the first is the one we covered already, the health and the attack damage to make Jax hit even more like a truck while making him tankier, but the real gold is the active of the Hydra which I have already shown previously and counts as an auto attack, adding up to your stacks, which means a simple combo of jaxleapstrike.png>jaxempowertwo.png>3748.png will give you 3 stacks on your passive (and on your 3124.png if you are using it) twice as fast as 3 auto attacks would, which make this the perfect 4th or last item for Jax.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

To me this is a skill matchup. He can stay long in lane and just farm, also can be unpredictable with the barrels if he is good. You should be able to dodge his Q and all in him though, and in a 1v1 close up fight Jax can win. Don't get kited into his barrels.

VS

Gnar

Medium

His gnarq.png is annoying but you can dodge autos easy. Use jaxleapstrike.png to all in him. Be aware of his rage bar.

VS

Irelia

Medium

This is a skill matchup, she can kill you with her stun, you can kill her with yours. On an extended fight though Jax will destroy her as long as she doesn't get fed.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

If he goes tank, build VS Tank Core and easily done. If he goes damage he is more dangerous but also squishy, so kill him faster. But all in all you will outsustain him and he can't really burst you unless you are really behind. Careful with jarvanivdragonstrike.png poke in lane.

He will poke the shit out of you and then all in you. Try to dodge his poke and all in him with your jungler.

VS

Kayle

Easy

Dodge her auto attacks and all in her. judicatorintervention.png won't be a problem if she is stuned.

VS

Kennen

Hard

You can dodge his autos and stun him, he can stun you and outrun him. All in after lvl6 will get you fucked by his ult, you want to shut him down early or survive laning phase and split push while your team NEVER engages without you. Take 12.png.

VS

Kled

Easy

He is an annoying prick but you can just dodge his passive and kill him anyways.

VS

Lee Sin

Easy

Although he does really high damage early you kill him easily mid to late game.

VS

Lissandra

Medium

Not auto attack reliant and can survive an all in with lissandrar.png. She shouldn't really be able to kill you though and you can out play her.

VS

Malphite

Hard

I only marked him down as hard for 1 reason. His team fight. ufslash.png will literally shit on your team, so they need to keep your distance while you split push. In lane he can all in and try to kill you, but unless he is really good he can't. Rush 3124.png+3153.png and try to dodge landslide.png. If you do that, even with 3110.png you can kill him, but be careful with his ult.

VS

Malzahar

Medium

Probably one of the few champs I'd pick something out of the items I mentioned in the item section. You need a 3140.png. No other option. Other than that you should be able to kill him in lane. Buy early MR and all in him, careful with his damage though.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

As any other auto attack champion just jaxcounterstrike.png and dead.

VS

Mordekaiser

Hard

You can dodge mordekaisermaceofspades.png with jaxcounterstrike.png but he is still annoying, specially if he has ignite. He will most likely outpoke you early, so play passive.

VS

Nautilus

Easy

Same as other tanks, 3124.png+3153.png and he will start regretting ever engaging you 1v1. jaxcounterstrike.png his passive if you can.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

I marked him as hard because he will just constantly poke you and all in you at some point, specially if he has 14.png. You will outscale him if you survive lane phase though.

VS

Poppy

Medium

Annoying, takes barely any damage early. Tank shredder build will clean her off easily late game but she will probably just poppyr.png you away unless you can stun cancel her. Survive early lane phase and roll her late game.

VS

Quinn

Easy

Burst build on her and she shouldn't be a problem. Take 14.png and snow ball on her.

VS

Rammus

Easy

I don't find him particularly hard as he can't really kill you and after you build the tank shredding items he can't duel you either, even with 3075.png+defensiveballcurl.png since every 2 hits you will deal magic damage plus jaxempowertwo.png, you will just destroy him eventually.

VS

Renekton

Medium

Natural lane bully, and a very annoying one at that. If he uses renektonsliceanddice.png towards you he is probably trying to use the combo renektonsliceanddice.png>renektonpreexecute.png>renektoncleave.png>renektonsliceanddice.png so instantly activate jaxcounterstrike.png to deny his stun and smack him with jaxempowertwo.png+jaxcounterstrike.png and let him back off in shame. Build tank shredder and roll him late.

VS

Rengar

Hard

He will just spend his time rengarq.png you and jumping out of the brushes. Really annoying match up. Don't feed him, play safe and late game roll his team hard.

VS

Riven

Hard

Riven is one of those champions I always find hard to lane against, no matter what champion I play. She has massive burst, massive damage, sustain, cc, shields, everything. If she engages with riventricleave.png instantly put jaxcounterstrike.png up to deny her autos between the combo, you will still take damage but a lot less.

VS

Rumble

Hard

I personally think this is a skill matchup. I have rolled Rumble players hard and I have been rolled by them as well. You want to engage when he is overheated and put jaxcounterstrike.png up to deny his damage. He will try to run away so chase him down until he is not overheated anymore. He will poke you down with rumblegrenade.png+rumbleflamethrower.png. Play safe and buy 3111.png+3155.png early if you have to, or even 3211.png if you are desperate.

VS

Ryze

Hard

He can and will kill you. Buy magic resist.

VS

Shen

Medium

VS

Shyvana

Easy
jaxcounterstrike.png her autos and shyvanadoubleattack.png. She can't really out duel you. You can go for standard build, or if she goes too tanky go tank shredder.

VS

Singed

Hard

VS

Sion

Easy

Tank shredder build, move out of his sionq.png.

VS

Swain

Medium

Tank shredder for him because your damage over time will just go through the regen from his swainmetamorphism.png. Take 14.png. Buy MR if you have to, 3111.png are a must.

VS

Tahm Kench

Easy

Haven't seen this in a while but the tank principle applies, he has 0 damage against you after tahmkenchw.png. Can't really kill you.

VS

Teemo

Medium

He is an annoying prick. Go for either standard build or burst build with the burst tree. Wait out his blindingdart.png with your jaxcounterstrike.png, stun him and then jaxempowertwo.png and kill him. Don't chase him as he will lure you to his teemorcast.png.

VS

Trundle

Easy

Farm up and get 3124.png+3144.png. Once you have those 2 you can kill him even through his trundlepain.png. jaxcounterstrike.png his autos and shred his face. DO NOT USE jaxrelentlessassault.png.

VS

Tryndamere

Medium

Should be easy for Jax right? Wrong. Don't think just because he is an auto attack based champion that he won't kill you. His undyingrage.png will outlive your jaxcounterstrike.png and he will murder you. I found the tank shredding build can be effective, but if you are ahead just go standard. I would still advise 3143.png for him. 3075.png only if you are VERY behind. Build 3047.png in lane.

VS

Urgot

Easy

Never really played vs one but the way I see it, just all in him and he should be easy enough.

VS

Vayne

Easy

Same principle as Quinn, all in burst. Don't let her snow ball. Farm under turret if you are taking too much poke early, until you have 3057.png, then go all in.

VS

Volibear

Easy
3124.png+3153.png+14.png. jaxcounterstrike.png his autos. jaxcounterstrike.png can dodge volibearq.png.

VS

Warwick

Easy
3124.png+3153.png+14.png+jaxcounterstrike.png = easy

VS

Wukong

Medium

He can be annoying but jaxcounterstrike.png counters his monkeykingdoubleattack.png and you will just outscale him and he can't really duel you.

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

He should be easy but since he has a lot of regen with his xenzhaobattlecry.png+3153.png he might give you trouble. If you are ahead go for the standard build, if behind I'd go 3124.png+3153.png. 14.pnghelps as well. 3143.png is good vs him as well. 3075.png if very behind. Build 3047.png in lane.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Jax should counter Yasuo, but he is another Riven to me. Hard to play against and a good Yasuo will outplay you. Don't fight him if there are minions around or he will hop all over the place with yasuodashwrapper.png. Remember jaxcounterstrike.png dodges his yasuoqw.png. I'd say 3143.png is a must at some point in this game. Build 3047.png in lane.

VS

Zed

Medium

He has a big burst, best thing you can do is build standard and instantly jaxrelentlessassault.png+jaxcounterstrike.png if he zedr.png you to negate some of his damage and hopefully survive. Try to dodge his zedq.png. Always pay attention to his zedw.png position. Build armor if you need it.
