Here it really depends on the opponents and how well you farm. If you are against an immobile target like Ashe or Caitlyn it is smarter to max Q. but if you are against a Sivir or Vayne i recommend maxing E. if you know you have enough money to buy a bf sword on your first back try to put as many points in your Q as possible as you will have immense damage with the help of the W proc.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Always get this if possible
get this if you don´t have enough for BF
    rush this
get these two to shit on everyone
try and get the qss first and then go for the blade for ultimate kiting
With this you will basically be able to 1v9

Core Items

Situational Items

For the starters you always go dorans and a potion. From there on out try as best as you can to get an early bf sword to maximize your damage early and secure your potential snowballing. Rush your Bloodthirster as fast as you can then go for the upgraded boots. Now you have the potential to 2v2 almost any opponents in lane. When you get your runaan´s hurricane you should try to push botlane and then gruop with your team because of the strong kiting and multitarget damage kalista has in the midgame. Your next buy depends on how far ahead you are or how far ahead the opponents are, if you see that they are getting alot of armor on the enemy team then go for a lastwhisper. If the enemy team decides not to buy armor you should go for a Blade of the ruined king. After that you are almost done and here you should decide wheter you need the Last Wisper or a Quicksilversash. Finalize your build when you have the gold for it and upgrade your trinket aswell as boots.

VS

Ashe

Medium

This is all about dodging her arrow and choosing the right time to fight. Ashe has good poke with her W so you should stay behind creeps as they will take the hits for you. once you get 3085_32.png you should look for a 2v2 or possibly a 2v1 with your support. You can often catch people off guard by hitting lvl 6 before them and just instatnly ult your support to engage.

She will outdamage you late game and do not try to 1v1 her if you are not 100% sure you can dodge her ulti.

VS

Caitlyn

Easy

It can be tricky to stay healthy in lane due to her long range early but as you progress and get your items you will be able to either solo her or take advantage of her in lane. Her midgame is very weak whilst kalista thrives in the midgame so try to take as many dragons as you can early and midgame to set your team on the path for the 5 dragons. Max Q against her for good poke. Try to survive the early laning phase and get your BF Sword if you are unable to get it because of her bullying you out of lane recall and buy a vampiric septer and some potions. That will help you survive against but it will delay your powerspike. You will almost always be stronger than her with a good support and should be able to 2v2 even if you are forced to buy a vampiric septer.

VS

Corki

Medium

Can be tough when he hits lvl 6 but should not be a problem because you have lifesteal and potions early game. When he get´s triforce he becomes quite strong for a while but then dips down later in the game. just beware of his damage when he hits you with a big rocket and Q

VS

Draven

Hard

Because DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVEEEN!

VS

Ezreal

Easy

This guy is basically useless against you cuz he won´t hit a single Q if you can kite properly. If you are new to this game and don´t know how to kite all that well he is still no match for you as all you have to do is randomly hop around confusing him where to aim his Q. The only problem you will have against an Ezreal is that he can outrange you with his Q and jump away from you with his E, other than that he is not that strong against you and 9/10 times you will dump on him.

VS

Graves

Hard

This guy is basically Lucian 2.0 and all you can do is bend over. Try to dodge his Q as often as possible because he will poke you down to around 60% hp then fuck you up. He is not always a big threat it really depends alot on what support he is matched with. If he is matched with the following WATCH OUT: NAUTILIUS, ANNIE, LEONA, and Thresh. Thresh is really situational it all depends on how good dodging skills you have and if your against madlife or sadlife.

If you manage to pull ahead somehow in lane you should still be aware of the amount of burst this guy has. that is all i can say for Graves and this is my final message to players going against him: BE PREPARED

VS

Jinx

Easy

There is not much to say about this matchup you outdamage her from lvl´s 1-16 but once she get´s to the point where she has her items she will outdamage you in both 1v1´s and teamfights.
Try to snowball against her and win the game before 35 minutes. Laning is pretty easy just hit her with your q and make your support auto attack her for incredible poke damage.

VS

Lucian

Hard

This matchup is always terrible for kalista even though she has the potential to dodge his Q. In lane he will harass you with his q on creeps usually because you can just dodge it by side jumping. If both you and him get BF sword he should have more burst potential than you and i recommend not going 1v1 against him since he will use the culling while kiting backwards to outdamage you. If you are a trained master and have mastered the arts of kalista you have the potential to 1v1 him. His late game damage will be higher in a 1v1 but since you have the runaan´s hurricane your teamfighting should be stronger. Overwall this guy hurts as a mother fucker so try and stay away from him.

VS

Sivir

Easy

This matchup is easy. Maxing E is something you should think about against a sivir considering a good sivir will always spell shield your Q. Maxing Q works but then you need to have good synergy with your support and communication so you know when she has spellshield up and when it´s down and always take advantage of it. Remember that sivir will never know when you are going to use your Rend stacks so try to bait out her spellshield by waiting as long as you can with popping the Rend stacks. Other than that just try to dodge her Q with your passive and you will be fine.

VS

Tristana

Medium

This little yordle can be annoying but she is also beatable. Most of the times she will blast you away with her ulti then jump away to safety but to counter that you need an engage heavy support and with the help of your ulti that will be a piece of cake. There is nothing to juke from tristana so i suggest you focus on not getting hit by other spells from their support instead.

VS

Vayne

Medium

This matchup is mostly in favor for kalista early and midgame but as usual vayne has alot stronger late game with the help of her ulti+W. If you manage to get a BF sword early you will most likely win a 2v2 as long as you max E.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros

Fantastic neutral objective control like baron and dragons.

Strong early and midgame

Infinite kiting

Has the potential to engage/disengage thanks to her great ultimate (aswell as saving noob supports)

Great at taking gromp and krugs because of her W % damage.

Good vision with her sentinels (W)

Really good at snowballing quickly

Can turn ganks around very easily because of her immense damage with the Q+W and E aswell as her kiting.

Can last hit under tower easily with the help of her Rend (E)

Cons

Not that strong late game due to her lack of crits. Although she still has good late game damage soemthing like a Jinx or Ashe will certainly Outskill you as the lord Qtpie himself would have called it.

She can be pretty weak when behind and due to her lacking raw damage in teamfights when she dosen´t get her items ahead.

dosen´t really have any waveclear if you don´t have runaan´s hurricane and even when you have it you might have trouble getting in range and last hitting because of poke comps.

She needs to have a drawn out fight or else her damage will be by far the lowest on out of all the adc´s.
