Mid 

14.png3.png12.png preference and match up determines what you'll take. Since her rework Karma has naturally become a supportive mid laner, much like 117.png61.png or 99.png. Karma is very strong in lane with a pre-6 ult and high amounts of burst as well as being able to trade favorably in almost every match up. She also works well into a poke comp as shown recently in many pro games. She can poke well and cheaply with her Q and disengage with all 3 of her abilities as well as chase well with them, on top of being naturally hard to kill thanks to her kit.

Support

 3.png14.png Both options are good, karma can do a lot of damage for a support as well as peel fairly well with mostly low cool downs and a flexible ultimate. take ignite for a more aggressive lane when your adc can self peel well or take exhaust when your adc is gonna get jumped on all game or for an adc who just needs more peel in general such as the new 96.png, because when you're playing support your whole job is to carry the adc so he can carry you.

 12.png14.png ignite top has come back into the meta so its viable to take for a more aggressive lane but top Karma is usually a pick to counter other hard aggressors such as 92.png114.png58.png or pretty much any mele top champ will have an inherit disadvantage against her with her close cc, shield, poke/slow, and healing. while she isn't a typical pick against these champs she emphasizes kiting and farm denial over pure tank stats. While it may seem like a weird pick it works well and is fairly safe, I've even pulled it out in ranked 5's and it worked like a charm. Not literally tho because 103.png is a mid laner :D (get it? charm?)

Jungle

 11.png While definitely a weird pick its a good choice now with the Runic Echos, the only draw back is that you're naturally squishy just like 76.png or any of the adc junglers, while you don't have heals like the former you have shields and have an optional self heal.

This page is pretty much your go to but there are a few things you can change about it depending on preference


Sorcery 

you probably should just keep this, you dont need aa speed.

Feat / Expose Weakness

The expose weakness mastery is really great on karma and I think you should grab it over feast, Lolking just hasn't been updated yet. Other than that feast > double edged sword because you aren't mele.

Natural Talent / Vamprism

Both are good and its really up to preference over 15 ap and some ad or getting some spell vamp for later in the game.

Oppressor / Bounty Hunter

Oppressor is more consistent damage and works well with Karmas slows and her root but if you want more damage and feel like you can kill everyone take Bounty Hunter.

Wanderer

take this bc the other one is garbage

Secret Stash / Assassin

Assassin is a good mastery if you're going to be solo killing, but secret stash is a nice little thing that helps lane phase. IF YOU'RE JUNGLING take runic affinity.

Merciless / Meditation

Meditation is not bad if you're support and you're not looking for kills, any other lane take merciless.

Bandit / Dangerous Game

Again take bandit if you're support, if not take Dangerous game to live dangerously

PRECISION / INTELLIGENCE

This will be one of you're biggest choices, extra penetration against a squishy team or if youre the only magic damage on your team, or extra cd to fire off your abilities more if you have more ap on your team than just you. The choice is yours, but if they have a very squishy team I'd recommend Precision.

Keystone

Storm raiders - got lots of buffs and is pretty nice, but not really what we are looking for on Karma since we have our shield already or that and we are pretty hard to kill anyway HOWEVER it is by no means bad and i recommend you try it out as it is actually really nice for chasing and escaping, as well as positioning over all.

Thunder lords - its meta because everyone likes damage, its easy to proc with your W but had some cd nerfs, still a great burst mastery overall for when you're going full mage mode.

Wind speakers - awesome mastery, especially with Karma who can already give a full team shield, but I only recommend this if you're support.

Other options

Ferocity Tree

Piercing Thoughts + Death fire Touch
Death fire just doesn't synergize well with Karmas kit other than her W because her Q is aoe and the burn damage will be pretty lack luster and her E is a shield... so no damage there.
However, if your team is fairly magic damage heavy taking these two will help in getting though MR along with a 3135.png

Resolve Tree

The only reason you should be in this tree is if you're trying to be a defensive support and you really need to peel for your adc in which case you'll want to take Recovery or Unyielding + Explorer + Veterans Scars or Runic Armor + Insight

NOTE your karmaspiritbond.png and karmasoulshield.png are interchangeable with leveling priority, if you're doing well  go for the karmaspiritbond.png to lock people down longer, if not so much get the shield to boost its strength


as support you'll probably want your karmasoulshield.png maxed second however your main strength as karma is your pokes so you'll only want to do this if you're having a really rough lane

ULT: maxing your ultkarmachakra.png is not required like other champions,  however when you level your ult you ult empowered abilities will become stronger, so if you don't put in points to your ult the ult kinda becomes useless because its damage will be nothing.

pretty standard in all lanes though, this is almost always the same unless you're not support and you're doing well then max karmaspiritbond.png>karmasoulshield.png because the damage is actually really nice when put together.

Starting Items

    Support start
    top and mid, you'll want this all the time, you don't need cloth 5 cus you shouldn't be in range for physical dmg pokes and you have your shield
    Talisman is better on Karma than Machete, pots or refill is up to you, pots are for an easier first clear, refill will make mid game a breeze

Core Items

    first back every time for support, its really worth it with the extra gold procs
    youll typically want to get one of these because karma does have lots of spell spamming later in the game and running out of mana is never fun but cdr is usually better Athenes for support or when you need your team to carry you

Situational Items

    for fun :DD its actually not bad really, nice splitpush, put it on a siege or caster on a lane you want to push harder
    this is always really good if you have lots of autoattack champions - Ult e = shields for the whole team SUPPORT ONLY
    getting focused and need some armor?
    really expensive but well worth it if youre doing super well, which for support is like 6+ kills
    never a bad item, but still takes time to ramp up
    never a bad idea if your adc is carrying hard
    this wont give you any ap but the mana regen is good and you can save lives from people like lux, morg, or nami
    good core item on mid, adds a lot of burst damage
1056.png Start 90% of the time unless you are support

3165.png3174.png should go for one of these first depending on match up, if there are lots of heals, and personal preference. Athenes is generally a support item now but if you're not doing so hot but your team is its not a bad pick up to give them the extra edge in your kinda supporty role

3027.png3110.png3003.png top lane build against heavy ad team, pretty much old ryze build but it works for 20% cdr and no more mana problems.

3157.png fantastic item against assassins and staying safe, can karmachakra.pngkarmaspiritbond.png and zhonya for safe heal if they dont run away

3089.png when you're ahead and you want to stay that way

3285.png great for poke and for extra burst, as well as movement is nice. If youre in a poke comp or if they are mostly squishy this is a good item to get

3151.png Karma is naturally annoying to deal with = get this most of the time. the burn automatically gets its better proc from your karmaheavenlywave.png and from your root, as well as giving you more health for your Ult W to heal, it also gives you flat magic penn to hit squishes even harder. It's pretty much everything in one.

3001.png good if you have other magic damage dealers on the team and want Morello or just need more MR for a heavy ap enemy team, casting your W means they are in range but the tether can extend further and your Q is also longer

3027.png Health and Mana plus 120 ap, not a bad buy if you have time for it to scale

3116.png DO NOT BUY THIS you'll be wasting an item slot when one of your 2 damaging spells already slows and your W roots, if you're at all good they shouldn't get away from your W unless they flash or use a dash. slow them with Q or speed yourself up with E.

3135.png if they get tanky you get this, it Destroys MR

3152.pnghonestly wouldnt be bad if we didnt already have our own heal, dont buy it

3020.pngpreferred over 3158.png but depends on your needs and playstyle

Poking him past half health is a wasted effort, but you can keep him peeled pretty well as his aatroxQ.png has a long cooldown and only his aatroxE.png to slow, he can still hit you though with his aatroxR.png within a good distance, 3165.png recommended, maybe even dont take cdr in runes to take Morello and 3110.png, most of his damage is based on his autos, Dodge his aatroxE.png because thats his only way to poke

She has the upper hand in easy sustain and kill pressure, but you have better wave clear and you have lots of saftey. your karmachakra.pngkarmaspiritbond.png will not help you much if she all in's as she will usually have 14.png also

For mid lane she has easy mana sustain with her disintegrate.png wave clear and good trades with her stun and incinerate.png but you have better wave clear and sustain as well as good saftey as long as you dont get 100-0 by her.

He will either be really aggressive or really passive, I cannot over state how important it is to stay away from his soldiers as that is his only source of damage.

If he uses his azirQ.png maneuver around it and hit him where his soldiers are not, you can trade him very well and chunk him out as Azir doesnt usually buy any MR

He has good harass and good sustain, similar to a Sona match up try your best to poke but watch out for his stuns as they do a lot of damage and can turn the tides pretty quick

Honestly its a pretty 50/50 match up, Stay away from the minions so he cannot harass and clear at the same time, but he will be trying to sustain through your poke anyway.

never had this but i feel like its a counter match up because of him just stacking MR, you cant do anything about his ult and your poke can probably just heal him with his galiobulwark.png, clear waves and be of a bigger impact in teamfights

block his parley.png with karmasoulshield.png and clear waves so he cant farm under turret, harass him all day because if you let him free farm he will kill lots of poor starving children

kite him for days, but watch for his garenslash3.png because itll negate your karmaheavenlywave.png slow, kinda a counter match up because your suitability is based on using skills. so Pretty much his garenslash3.pnggarenslash3.pnggarenslash3.png will decide the match up. You probably cant kill him either because he will just stack MR and still do dumb damage.

you have longer Autos than he does, dont let him kite you around. He thrives in extended trades you're more bursty, also always keep an eye on his rage bar, if he goes mega just stay away because thats when its easiest for him to kill you

never seen this happen yet, but its kinda popular. hes kind of like braum becuase of his poke + tank + stuns, not a good match up but still do able

Probably one of your toughest match ups, her true damage hurts like shit, but you can still kite her easily if you stay away from minions she purposefully got low to ireliagatotsu.png onto, if you can karmaspiritbond.png while she goes in you can punish her easy, but her ireliahitenstyle.png will destroy you if you dont play this properly

she is very fragile so hurt her as much as you can early because you wont get a chance later, her shields are imense and they give huge ammounts of ad to her adc plus she has a lot of cc, all in all if she is good she is terrifying if she gets ahead but if not shes not that bad, later in game tho dont chase her because you wont catch her

shes annoying to deal with and she can snowball really hard if not dealt with properly, as well as she will roam as much as she can, your karmaspiritbond.png will not interrupter her deathlotus.png, but you can out trade her if she does not have an item lead, COOLDOWN WAR

She is actually really scary right now, she has high mana costs in lane though so if you can make her use her kayleW.png heal a lot she will not be able to farm or trade, but never underestimate her damage and never dive her

Ult W can save your life when she goes in on anyone
this can go either really well or really bad, if you poke them down enough and they cant get near you then youll be fine, but if she goes all yolo and goes aggressive youll likely die because her + adc + leo passive = death (really tough if they are a duo). if she goes in on you try to w her carry so they cant follow and leo will just be running by herself = she dies. W onto leo also helps if you can zone the adc with your ult Q and E your adc

dont get too near for her to auto you freely, but your pokes are cheaper, and do more dmg, plus a shorter cd, just poke and youll win

lulu is strong when people dive and youre not diving so youll be ok
you should win this unless you let her lulue.pngluluq.png you freely and clear the wave at the same time

She is really strong right now, with her double shields and hard to dodge luxlightstrikekugel.png she is annoying to deal with, STAY AWAY FROM YOUR MINIONS and she will have to use her luxlightstrikekugel.png to clear not to harass. Also she has really long cooldowns so abuse them + 3174.png

if its ap malph karmasoulshield.png his seismicshard.png and watch him waste his mana, if he is tank malph and you loose this you know you did something very wrong

really annoying to deal with, but as long as you keep your distance and poke him and only go in to trade with karmaspiritbond.png if he is low then you should e able to avoid his round of dot kill spells

karmaspiritbond.png this mother fucker every time he goes in. if he ever gets close to the minions without using his alphastrike.png kill him, if he ever uses his alphastrike.png on the minions kill him afterward, DO NOT LET HIM FARM

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GET SNARED after level 6 she does so much dmg, but your poke is still better if you actually can hit her and the adc

if you get snared more than once youll likely die

MID OR TOP = just clear waves and dont get darkbindingmissile.png because she can all in you pretty easy, but poking her is hard bc of her spell vamp and blackshield.png

prioitize dodging the stuns, and if either of you do get stunned, shield immediately to save the dmg, other than that your poke is still better, watch out for the heal/hurt tho because it can be very impactful after just a few

hes quite annoying because he has so much cc and he has a very strong shield but as long as you can survive his initial round of spells after he nautilusgrandline.png you should be fine.

if youre close enough to get hit by his nautilussplashzone.png you're doing something wrong

dodge spears and poke, thats all you gotta do

if she lands a spear or a trap you're pretty ok, she is super squishy and all you have to do is karmaspiritbond.png karmachakra.pngkarmaheavenlywave.png and make her suffer

Using your auto attacks in between spells is good because it reduces your ult even further on its cool down and its a very easy way to do so. if you have just teatherd someone, be sure to auto once then Q for the extra proc

Support

there are 5 good reasons why you should use your auto-attacks as much as possible while still being safe if youve done everything is this guide AS A SUPPORT

1. your auto-attacks still reduce your ult CD by 1-1.5 seconds, that can mean a lot if a gank comes  and you need to Ult w for the heal

2. your auto-attacks will activate your passive for your AP Support gold item + they do extra damage with it (even on towers!!!!!!)

3. your auto-attacks will also proc the passive you get from Bandit in your masteries tree, giving you +3 gold if timed right each time, think of the gold youll end up making over time :DDDDDD

4. if you got your hybrid penetration marks this is the only way karma can benifit from the 8 or so armor penn so use them up to make the IP worth it anyway it just does better damage without having to put in stuff for AD points like some people do with 89_64.png

5. its a free and relatively safe way to poke, you dont loose mana, they loose health, you win :D (just dont aa too often because they will probably engage, aa then back up)

so basically a step up from an ok Karma support to a Good Karma support is using your auto attacks in any possible situation without being stupid

Things To Improve Your Play Back to Top

  • you can now use your Ult W on jungle monsters so you no longer have to wait for a fight to heal up, use this if you are low on hp but have a lot of mana and dont want to go back yet
  • Your ult has no cast time and CAN BE CAST UNDER ANY CC EFFECT
  • your Ult W doesn't have to go through the whole 2 second active for you to heal a lot of hp if you're really low, even a quick one can get you right back into the fight
  • your passive Gathering Fire is proc-ed for every time an enemy takes damage from a spell this means - your ult Q hits 5 people ~ 10-15 sec reduced - your w lasts its entire duration ~ 6-9 seconds reduced. this all means that karma has extreme team fight potential and you should pay attention to your spell bar because it can be up more often than you think
  • your Q has an aoe burst even when not used with Mantra, use this in lane when your enemy is sitting near their caster minions hitting your minions, hit those minions if you don't have a clear shot and you'll still hit them ( note - you will push the wave, this isn't a big problem as long as you don't hit the minions while they are low because you have good disengage.)
  • throwing your Ult Q behind people to cut them off can work in your favor, either they run into it taking the full dmg from the initial blast and the after blast AND you snare them, they run towards you and you can then snare them, or they jump or flash over it meaning you have a small window to attack where they cant get away or you just burned a flash
  • your W is perfect on people like 29_64.png7_64.png( when her passive goes up), 35_64.png(when he ults), 67_64.png(when she tumbles with her ult going), 91_64.png(during his ult), 84_64.png(when she throws down her smoke), 8_64.png(when he bloodpools) and 107_64.png(when he tries to ult) why? because it all gives true sight and its a tether ability, meaning you can see them no matter what and they will be snared unless they can get out of range also can be activated through wind wall 157_64.png, not so sure about Unbreakable 201_64.png, but it will continue to tether during playful/trickster and lock him down when he lands 105_64.png

she is a lane bully, not the best late game champion but for a support that isnt an actual burst mage (lb or something) she is probably your best chance of carrying games solo, though unlikely ive done it before and its awesome. 


you main jobs as the support is to keep the team safe and do damage when you can,  your main priority are the adc of your team and thiers, if you can protect your adc and nuke down theirs even if its not 100% it helps and youve done your job

also please buy wards :D encourage your team to buy a pink and place it or get 3361_32.png because for a laner this is really a cost efficient buy especially early on

 Buff totally and completely, this helps your weaker late game massively especially in team fights

Huge buff, allows Karma to jungle much easier and is a big improvement on her AP ratio

Over all with the changed to focused resolve its a buff because now your W can tether for up to 3.25 seconds, the longest single cc in the game, even with the removal of the extra damage the AP ratio from doing it normally is now higher and this compensates some

Inspire

Little bit less of a base shield at higher ranks but less mana cost and lower cd is an overall buff if not making it neutral

Defiance

Change in how the aoe shield works, now functions based on the shield of the main target rather than a flat standalone amount, which makes it pretty much the same, essentially it just means if you have even more ap the total 90% ap ratio will make the shield crazy big
unfortunately the damage from the ult shield is gone but I think it was deserved.

  • Karma is very versatile, if you get good at her you can first pick her and send her top, mid, support, or jungle and do well in all, she has very high kill potential early game with her karmachakra.png, good lock down with her karmaspiritbond.png, good trading with her karmasoulshield.png to mitigate damage and her karmaheavenlywave.png for all around good damage, wave clear and poke. On top of all this she has low mana costs and good base damage, low cool downs, and good scaling. 

  • Lots of survive ability, great poke, good cc, helpful to her team, and really strong burst, all in one fairly easy to play package.

  • Many say that she falls off super hard late game like as bad as 64.png, this is not true at all. While her Q is only 60% ap ratio and she doesn't have 3 damaging spells she is very strong for a utility mage, able to do well in duels and team fights, and her late game is actually pretty scary with her high Ult Q ap ratios and her karmapassive.png passive putting in a lot of work with good cdr, she can have hurt Ult back up in seconds to keep dealing massive amounts of damage.

  • The only problem with Karma late game is her lack of dash or blinks to escape really tough situations, and her difficultly at hitting the back line. While you can almost always hit the back line from an angle or wait for a good moment, if you keep spamming the front line a lot of your damage and burst will go to waste.

  • Karma is traditionally played Top lane to counter aggressive top laners and make their life miserable, or played Support or Mid for a Utility mage that can poke well as well as have good cc. Karma can do lots of things well, but if you are looking for a super poke champ look towards 101.png or 161.png, if youre looking for a super killer teamfight look towards 61.png or 127.png, if you're wanting more utility 117.png or 26.png and maybe 10.png are better options. Karma does a lot of things well and she mixes them all together well but she is not exactly a master of any of them.
