Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png is a must on 43_icon_64.png. You use it to either run away from a champion or you can actually surprise your opponent by flashing near them. You can also use flash to bait someone.

3.png Should be taken only if you are supporting. But hey, that's the basic.

14.png Ignite is just a must have on many AP mage. The reason is the same for any AP mage. Inflict more dmg to your opponents and damper them from healing.

Masteries Back to Top

Why Deathfire touch instead of Thunderlord?

  1. Because Karma is a champion that excels in long teamfights. Deathfire touch has no cooldown compared to thunderlord.
  2. Because during late game, Karma's damage tend to be considerably lower. Deathfire touch will act like a Liandry's torment.
  3. Because you WANT that 7% extra magic penetration given on the Ferocity mastery. Like I said, Karma falls on late game so you'll want to stay powerful.

Why Bandit instead of Dangerous game?

  1. Because it synergize well with Karma's passive.
  2. It can basically give you an extra 500 gold in a game.
  3. You'll be getting Frost Queen's claim too. The extra 1.5k gold can serisouly save you when you are falling behind.

Why Secret stash instead of Assassin and Runic Affinity?

  1. Because Karma is a champion that depends on her allies in order to do well.
  2. You will rarely see a Karma alone
  1. Because Karma is very powerful during early game.
  2. Having cookies when you already are snowballing will amplify it.

Your usual combo will go : Cast FQC + self shield + W + RQ

karmapassive.png

 Gathering fire

Karma's passive will reduce the cooldown of her ultimate by up to 3 seconds whenever she hits a champion with a spell (up to 1.5 second if it's an auto attack). This passive can prove to be very effective. If you manage to hit all 5 enemies champion with your Q for exemple, it will reduce her ultimate's cooldown by 15 seconds ! Pretty handy when you have an extended teamfight. Be sure to spam your abilities whenever you can (spam, but be smart!).

karmaheavenlywave.png

Inner flame // Soulflare

Your main bully spell will be ''Q''. It is her spell with the lowest cooldown (Starting at 7 sec cooldown at level 1 and 5 seconds at level 5). If you got maximum CDR, you can cast this spell at every 3 seconds!. One thing you REALLY need to know is that it explodes on the first thing it touches. Before launching your inner flame with mantra charged on, MAKE SURE that you have a clear position in order to land your hit. This spell is very easy to be missed and is the main damage source for Karma. The sightliest mistake with this spell could cost your team a lose. I take this spell at level 1 OR 2 depending on the situation of the jungler and max it by level 9. For best aiming, try casting it from max range. Trust me, it will give you a much more better accuracy.

karmaspiritbond.png

Focus resolve // Renewal

This ability will be important to ensure a good gank and run away from nasty foes. Remember that you need to stay anchored to your target for 2 seconds in order to lock him up. Since the rework of Karma, renewal can potentially bind a target for 3.25 second (which is .25 second higher than Morgana's bind). Be sure to shield yourself while doing using focus resolve as it will help you stay near the target and negate some surprise dmg (such as TF's cards).
A full link with this spell can reduce your ultimate's cooldown by 6 seconds.

karmasoulshield.png

Inspire // Defiance

Even though Karma's shield value has dropped from the old Karma, it is still very good, or even better with the addionnal effect riot added an on her shield; it gives to the target additional movespeed ! This is perfect when you want to catch someone with your focus resolve and then land a soulflare. I take a point in this ability at level 2 to avoid ganks.

Having Defiance at level 1 is life saving when your jungle is invaded or if you are invading the enemy's jungle. the 60% bonus movespeed is extremely powerful. Depending on the situation of your jungler, you can take this skill on level 1.

During late game, defiance can easily top the 1000+ shield value, making this spell extremely usefull to protect your adc or assassins. Try going more support/like during late game !

karmachakra.png

Mantra

Finally, you got your ultimate ''R'' which is already available on lvl 1. What a mystery!  It will empower her next ability and add an additional effect to it. It is very important to know which skill you want to use a charge.

. Soulflare to kill//nuke. Pretty handy when you want to poke before a team fight.
. Renewal to bait ennemies and lock down a SINGLE target.
. Defiance to initiate // run away from a teamfight (the 1k shield !)

KARMA'S PRECIOUS ITEMS

  • 3116_32.png3151.png3092.png

3151_32.png Is a very good choice for Karma. If you combine it with rylai, it increases Karma's hp by 600 and gives her 150 AP. The most important part about this item is the combined slow from rylai + her spells. Trust me, if you want an item that pierces magic resist, this IS the one to get along with void staff and Deathfire touch. Combine this item with W to get unsuspected dmg.

RUSH AP COOLDOWN REDUCTION FOR YOUR FIRST ITEMS IN ALMOST EVERY BUILD

3165_32.png3174_32.png3092_32.png

With the mage update, Athene's unholy grail has become once more a must item for Karma. Because of its low cost and effectiveness, it makes this item the perfect to get when you are ahead or even underfarmed. I believe that Karma is the most powerful user for Athene's unholy grail because of her low Q cooldown and shield capacity.

Reverse Karma build.

Context : Whenever you're against a high CC team with annoying pokes ( 38_64.png4_64.png57_64.png ) And you don't want to go risky, Reverse Karma build is meant for you. It gives you a great sustain during mid game and it allows Karma to deal a relatively high damage. Then, you can either evolve your build into a more tanky oriented Karma or simply go back Glass canon.

Starting items : I ALWAYS start my game by buying  1056_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png. This will allow you to have better sustain and power during early game.

  •  1st item to rush : 3174_32.png3165_32.png.   3028_32.png OR 3108_32.png OR 3114_32.png depending on your ennemy. Get 3028_32.png if you are playing against an AP champ. 3108_32.png if you are against an AD champ since they won't do any magic damage.

I usually complete this item around 11:00 mins. 9 minutes if i got a gank and 14 at WORST.

  • 2rd item to rush : 3151_32.png. If you are getting CC'ed alot, get 3136_32.png and go for 3111_32.png. Complete 3151_32.png around the 15-19 minutes mark.

  • 3th item to rush : If you haven't gotten 3111_32.png yet, now it is the time. Get  3116_32.png. Complete it around the 20-30 minutes mark.

4th and 5th item to get depend on what you want.

===================================================================

Going back glass canon.

 3089_32.png3135_32.png3020_32.png3158_32.png

  • Meant to deal powerful damage to adc's and mid champion 1_64.png99_64.png67_64.png103_64.png119_64.png

  •  Staying powerful as a mage during late game

===================================================================

Going as tanky Karma

3025_32.png3157_32.png3135_32.png

  • Meant to counter jungle champions 57_64.png77_64.png111_64.png and top 266_64.png64_64.png92_64.png

  • Staying longer in a teamfight (higher sustain, better cdr)

Is iceborn gauntlet viable for Karma? If you have seen my old Karma guide, you will know that I was playing Karma top and that I have always recommend buying Iceborn gauntlet. The thing is, Iceborn gauntlet provides a great mana pool, cooldown reduction a slow and armor. This is exactly what a Tanky Karma wants. If you buy athene and iceborn, this will seal your status as a very good bruiser like champion and you can stay very long in a team fight.

===================================================================

Going as ANTI-AP build.

  • You will get 3065_32.png as your 3rd item which is great for Karma. It gives 10% cdr for Karma, increases her healing with W and makes her deceptively hard to burst down from magical dmg.
  • Then either get  3020_32.png or 3111_32.png as your 3rd item. Note that your dmg at this point will drop dramatically. Hurry up and farm!
  • 3089_32.png will be your 4th item. It helps Karma maintain a decent dmg in the battlefield.
  • 3135_32.png and 3151_32.png for your last items is my advise if you want to stay strong during late game.

===================================================================

           Going as MAGIC PENETRATION.

  • If you like to play behind your allies and rarely get hit, this build is meant for you. I believe this build is the best way to have a high burst dmg on Karma.
  • I have tried Magic penetration Karma not so long ago and it turns out to be even better than the ''typical ap mid'' build in terms of damage.
  • Most of the time, ennemies champion will have between 30-70 Magic resist during early-mid game. With this build, Karma can get 50 flat magic pen + 38% magic pen. It is largely enough to keep a great damage.
  • Having that much magic penetration can allow Karma to negate up to 84 magic resist. That's a 45% damage increase !
  • Then, later in the game, people will often stack magic resist, which by the time you will be already getting Void Staff.
  • In conclusion, magic penetration Karma is a great choice of build since it provides:
  • Great constant damage for the whole game
  • Easy to build
  • Can go anywhere

Here's a graph that shows you the amazing damage scale (Source : Leagueoflegends.wikia.com) :

MpenGraph.gif

SO, in order, you will be getting

3136_32.png on the 10-13 minute mark

3158_32.png3020_32.png on the 13-15 minute mark

3092_32.png or 3165_32.png on the 14-20 minute mark

3285_32.png or 3089_32.png on the 21-30 minute mark

3089_32.png or 3151_32.png on the 30-36 minute mark

3135_32.png  3151_32.png ,   for your last items.

Wait, whaaaaaaaaat? 3092_64.png @_@ ?

So here are the reasons why I get Ice queen's claim :

  • FQC is a cheap and very effective
  • It gives you an active which you can use defensively or offensively
  • It allows you to stay in the game when you are falling behind
  • It gives you a 10% cdr and an acceptable 50 AP
  • The extra 15 dmg on this item can add up to your spells (especially your W) and help attacking towers
  • it has a nice  initiating spell to lock in your root and ultimate.
  • It can be used to remove banshee veil and now... that horrible assassin item (edge of the night)

===================================================================

My current Karma build (February 27th 2017)

3020.png3135.png3089.png3092.png3285.png3165.png

  • I remember in early season 5 when I was rushing Frost Queen's claim. People were laughing at me. Now it clearly seem to fit in the meta which makes me quite happy.
  • You'll easily get 2000 gold from this item
  • If you are full build, you can switch FQC  depending on how well you do :
  • Athene when losing and relying on allies
  • Nashor's tooth if you are the one carrying.
  • Ardent censer if you have a great adc.

Athene's unholy grail is comming back !
It's so cheap as of patch 7.3 and it gives the wonderful ability to heal your allies with karma's heal!

VS

Ahri

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY-MID 1vs1 PHASE (LVL 1-11). WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

  • Your burst and sustain DPS are superior during early game
  • Be careful of her charm spell
  • If she cast her ultimate, QUICKLY retreat with your shield and use renewal before she hits you with her Charm
  • If you got charmed, activate your mantra + E, DON'T GO OFFENSIVE.
  • Dying to Ahri during the early phase might be ALOT harder for you to get back on game. Be carefull.
  • It will be hard for you to land your Q on Ahri since she has a LOT of mobility.
  • Ahri is getting more popular these days. Most people will rush DFG as her first item leaving her with 0 magic resist.
  • If you ever manage to hit some Q on her, you will quickly get the advantage of the lane

VS

Akali

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY-MID 1vs1 PHASE (LVL 1-11)

Playstyle: Passive

Main Points:

  • Akali's early game is HORRIBLE.
  • Your shield is enough to damper her mini-nuke
  • RENEWAL is her weakness since you can even see her when she uses that cloak.
  • If she cast her ultimate, QUICKLY  retreat with your shield and use renewal.
  • Dying to Akali during the early phase might be ALOT harder for you to get back on game. Be carefull.
  • Try not to go aggresive when Akali has cast her cloak
  • Akali will dive on you everytime she has the chance.

VS

Anivia

Medium

Difficulty: Medium-hard (6/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY-MID PHASE (LVL 1-11)

Playstyle: Passive

Best mantra spell against that champion : R+Q

Key items :  3174_32.png3111_32.png3089_32.png3135_32.png3151_32.png3116_32.png

Main Points:

  • Anivia might be one the most fragile champion during early game
  • If she misses her ice ball, you can quickly use your shield and try to land your combo
  • Since she will be zoning you with her powerful ultimate, you can stay far from her and use Soulflare.
  • It is hard to get anivia during early phase because of her passive. Simply farm and wait for a gank.
  • She is so fragile that soulflare can litteraly remove 3/4 of her health during early game.

Anivia is fragile. However, she outranges Karma. You should approach her with caution. If you can avoid her ice ball while making a way to her, you can easily bully Anivia. Don't go near her unless you're certain that their jungler is not near you.

VS

Brand

Medium

Difficulty: Medium-hard (6/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive or aggresive depending on how well you dodge his spells...

Main Points:

  • Brand HURTS when he lands his combo
  • It is very hard to hurt him because of his long range spells
  • Hopefully, most of his spells are skillshots.
  • NEVER get close to him. Use soulflare and keep a safe distance from Brand.
  • If he manages to hit you with one of his spells, don't counter, retreat instead.

VS

Cassiopeia

Hard

Difficulty: Hard (8/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive

Main Points:

One of Karma's weakness is she can't sustain fast powerful constant magic damage. Hopefully, if she can't land any of her poison, you should be able to face her. A smart cassiopeia will stay behind her creeps when and spam her poison to you. Even if you got a shield to negate her dmg, you will quickly notice how often she can cast her poison fangs. Don't get near Cassiopeia until she used her ultimate.

One this is certain, she will run out of mana EXTREMELY FAST at early level. Always watch her manapool. if you can predict that she'll run out of mana before finishing you off, you should fight her. A Cassiopeia will very rarely run ignite. So your R+W will have full potential on baiting her and turn the table.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6).

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

You can bully him, but you will hardly to any damage to him since he can heal everytime he kills a minion. However, He cant hardly hit you as well. Your shield is more than enough to avoid his earthquake thingy. Ask for ganks if you manage to get him low heath. Use renewal instead of soulflare.

Cho Gath is one of those champions that doesn't care about getting auto attacked. Good news for Karma is you can use mantra more frequently.

VS

Darius

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

With the new Karma rework providing her with better range and a shield that increases her movespeed, it makes Darius almost impossible to catch her. If he ever catches you, use RENEWAL and just run away with your shield.

You can try to use your Mantra+W BEFORE you zhonya whenever he catches you in order to prevent him from stacking those blood stacks.

VS

Diana

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points :

  • If you manage to kill Diana early, she will be a joke.
  • She can't hit you without getting hurt back
  • You have a better trade-off
  • Be careful when she turns level 6
  • Use renewal instead of soulflare.

VS

Elise

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

In her human form, she is hard as hell. Try to avoid her cocoon when you're getting close to root her  or else you will get hurt really bad. She can escape your root AND  your soulflare with rappel! If you are smart, you can wait until she comes back or you can simply use renewal instead of souflare to hurt her.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Medium

Difficulty: Medium-Hard (7/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle : Mixed

Main Points:

Fiddle has a multitude of CC. Fear, Silence, heal. errrr. You can't really harass him. Use ignite + soulflare on him if he isnt moving. Anyway he's just going to fear you. Just wait for a gank and farm safely meanwhile. Thankfully, he can't cs that well.

VS

Fiora

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY.

DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

If Fiora uses her lunge on you, the best way to counter that is to use R+W. This usually works during early levels (1-6). You might want to ask for ganks later on. A fed Fiora is scary. A good fiora can easily counter your bind and stun you! the best move would be to Q her and hope that she'll counter that instead of your root!

VS

Fizz

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (6/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY.

DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

Timing is very important versus Fizz. You need to shield at the right moment and should predict whenever he dives or hop on his trident. One mistake will put Fizz on the upper hand. Try to not do anything heroic because he will just hop on his trident and bait you.

HOWEVER, if you manage to cast focus resolve on Fizz, notice that the link will NOT break even if he hops on his trident. Take this at your advantage. Zhonya is also your best friend against Fizz.

AD fizz is becoming more popular these days. He can easily solo you during late game. Be sure to link him or wait for him to waste his E before doing anything reckless.

Use zhonya if he landed his ultimate on you. Pray for your allies to help you during this time.

VS

Galio

Medium

Difficulty: Medium-Hard (7/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

He is so tanky. Thankfully his skills are skillshot. Be carefull when you get near him at level 6. Galio is rarely picked though. Get Mercury tread to counter his ultimate and Liandry's torment to increase your damage against Galio. Burst damage won't work on Galio. So i'd rather play a game of sustain vs Galio. Get Spirit visage + morello to counter this champion. A galio will rarely run void staff sorcerer's shoes because all they want is magic resist.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (6/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

. GP is one the rare melee champion with a Range ability. His passive combined with the red buff is extremely powerful and he can even heal + remove your root. If you want to harass GP, your best bet is to avoid his barrels and predict when he will hit his barrels and prevent him from detonating them and get extra gold.

VS

Garen

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

It is almost impossible for him to get near you. that's all. IF you ever get caught by his silence and stuff, try to use renewal as soon as you can or else things might get bad for you.

VS

Gnar

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

MEGA GNAR : EASY (3/10)

Playstyle: Mixed during Gnar stance, Aggresive during Mega Gnar

Main Points:

  • Mini Gnar is very hard to catch! You'll be having hard times to root him.
  • His Auto attacks may pack a nice burst if you are not careful.
  • Whenever he transforms into Mega Gnar, NOW is the time to act since his spells are skillshots (or close range)
  • Lock him up with W and use soulflare to finish your combo.
  • However it will be hard to kill him even with your full combo. You'll eventually outsustain him.
  • Gnar players usually get tanky with some moderate magic resist. Take this to your advantage.
  • Mini Gnar as less magic resist too!

VS

Gragas

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (6/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY.

DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main points :

  • With the rework on Gragas, he has evolved into a pretty bruiser like champion
  • Bursts won't work on Gragas
  • Don't go too hard on him, he will simply heal up with his passive
  • Don't get too close on Gragas, his ultimate will simply knock you up on a bad position.
  • AP Gragas is extremely powerful. You'll need to play from distance. If he ever sees an opening for his ult, you should just flash away and not risk anything. Trust me, you don't want to play against a fed ap gragas.

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

Heimerdinger is fragile but don't let this fool you. His turrets hurt. Before doing anything reckless, try to hit him with some Q before finishing him off. Of course, get rid of his turrets too or you'll regret it.

VS

Irelia

Easy

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY.

DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

Irelia is really easy to get baited by karma. Karma secretly counters Irelia. She doesn't have enough burst to take down Karma quickly. This will be perfect for you to cast renewal + your shield. Finally, she will lose more hp than you if she ever dives you. Mercury tread is greatly recommended against her because of her stun//slow.

VS

Jax

Easy

Difficulty: Easy (3/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

  • Karma is a great counter against jax. He has absolutely NO range ability.
  • You can easily bully him and push his lane.
  • If he jump-stun you, try to cast renewal before.
  • After level 6. Jax might get a little bit tankier. Don't go too hard on him or else you're going to be the one baited.

VS

Jayce

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10)

Main Points:

Jayce is mostly a skillshot champion. As long as you dodge his mega shock blast, everything should go smoothly.

When he misses his shock blast, NOW is the time to react.

Use your W to root him (you'll be maxing your root first) and take your time to land your soulflare. Don't rush, he won't be moving for 2 seconds which is enough to get the full damage of soulflare.

Be sure to not get too close of Jayce. He may knock you back and break the link from your W.

VS

Karthus

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

Karthus can't fight versus Karma. If he misses all of his ''Q''. What's left is his ''E''. Lucky for Karma, her shield is more than enough to counter that. Use renewal if you are scared. for the rest, soulflare is more than enough to scare him out. Zhonya is also known to counter Karthus.

BUT, be carefull of his wall. Whenever Karthus cast it, it usually means that their jungler is near. Don't fight back and retreat instead.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (6/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

Kassadin might seem easy at glance. You can easily out farm him during early game. He has a single target spell, a close range nuke slow and an increase magic damage on basic attacks.

However, his passive reduces magic damage taken by 15% which is HORRRIIIBLE for Karma. Even if Kassadin has 0 magic resist, he will reduce any incoming magic damage by 15%.

When he gets to level 6, things will start to get awful. He will simply teleport next to you, Q and slow. Then he will retreat without letting you any counter back.

It is best to ask for a gank during early game while Kassadin is still weak.

VS

Katarina

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive
Recommended runes : OPTION #1 OR #4 (See the runes note section)

Best mantra spell against that champion : R+W

Recommended maxing skills in order : Q-W-E

Key items :  3174_32.png3020_32.png3151_32.png3116_32.png3135_32.png3157_32.png

Main Points:

Katarina is very nimble and will avoid all of your Q. Wait for her to blink on you to get to action.

  • -> Flash and soulflare if she uses her ultimate
  • -> Renewal + shield if she is running back
  • -> get far away from the creeps. this will create a dilemma for her. Either harass you, or farm the creeps.
  • Playing vs Katarina is burst vs burst. Get as much health as you can versus her and you should be fine

VS

Kayle

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive

Main Points:

  • Kayle is the definition of constant powerful small burst with her ranged auto attacks. Because of her amplification damage plus her slow, you will get zoned during early game.
  • Kayle is at her weakest state during level 1-7 where she will try to get Nashor's tooth.
  • I Recommend using soulflare during the 1-6 levels. However, consider using renewal on Kayle since she will mostly avoid your powerful burst with her ultimate.
  • Always nuke her from afar and never engage a Kayle that has full HP.
  • Kayle's item generally lack magic resistance. Use this as your advantage and burst her down.

VS

Kennen

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

I personally find Kennen easy to fight with. he is pretty predictable to fight against.
Stay behind your creeps to avoid his ''Q'' and shield yourself when he has his ''W'' ready.

Doran blade on Kennen is pretty popular. his main damage during early game is his Auto attack. Use Renewal with your shield to counter.

If he ever dives you. there is renewal+shield to negate most of his damage. Mercury tread is recommended to avoid his ultimate.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (6/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

Leblanc is such a glass cannon. Cool fact, she can't farm very well. If you play safe and start nuking from behind your creeps, she will get a lot of trouble trying to farm and/or harassing you.

Whenever you feel her casting any spell, hurry up and back up and throw a R+Q.

VS

Lux

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10)  DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

All of Lux's spell are skillshots! if she happens to miss ONE spell, you can go all in. in the opposite, if she manages to root you and she's close enough to you, USE renewal+shield. She won't hesitate to use all of her combo if she thinks that she can kill you. Most of the time, you will survive her combos (if she isn't fed of course). what's left is her passive + her shield. If you feel confident, you can counter back or simply run away.

VS

Malzahar

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (6/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

I like the fact you can easily dodge his silence and you can shield yourself when he uses his DPS on you. Be careful for his ultimate though. A smart Malz will use his ulti when a gank is near. NEVER EVER get near Malzahar above lvl 6

VS

Nasus

Easy

Difficulty: Easy (3/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive
Recommended runes : OPTION #2 (See the runes note section)

Main Points:

  • Nasus has no burst during early game
  • You will be attacking him so frequently that your mantra will be available every 25-10  seconds
  • ALWAYS use Souflare when he's trying to farm
  • ALWAYS use Renewal when he's using his ulti against you
  • Very fun to kite if you got Rylai
  • Very fun to bait if you got Spirit visage (Not recommended on Ranked @_@ )

VS

Nidalee

Medium

Difficulty: (AP) Medium (6/10) (AD) Medium-Hard (7/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive

Main Points:

She has better mobility than you and she can heal. However, she has no cc! Playing against Nidalee all depends on your dodging skills. If she can't land any spear, you pretty much won the lane. On the opposite, if she always hit you with her spear, just try to stay behind creeps and use renewal whenever she tries to get close to you.

AD Nidalee versus Karma is a little bit harder than her AP version. This time, you should let her push to your tower since her main source of damage will be her Auto-Attacks. Don't counter back. She will simply heal up.

VS

Olaf

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

Karma is a great counter for Olaf. If you are good, he will never hit you with his axes. If he gets close to you, either shield yourself and run away or you can always use renewal and fight him.

Results : 0 damage to Karma and big damage to Olaf plus his recoil

VS

Orianna

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed
Recommended runes : OPTION #1 OR #4 (See the runes note section)

Main Points:

If you can defy logic and chose weird position, her ball will never touch you and you will be free to harass her. You have shorter cooldown than her !

When I play against her I like to CHARGE at her when she uses her Q. She will have no choice but to shield herself and run away since her W and R won't hit you.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

Difficulty: Medium-Hard (7/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive

Pantheon is one of those melee champions with a range spell. His Q has a low cooldown, mana cost and high damage with a 100% crit chance if you're below 15% HP.

You should ask for a gank whenever you play against Pantheon and play safe.

VS

Renekton

Easy

Difficulty: Easy (3/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

Immediately prevent Renekton from farming at level 1. When you see him last hit a minion, use mantra + Q to show him your aggresiveness. Keep attacking him and don't let his energy build up. Like his brother, Karma is a great counter against that champion. Watch out for ganks though.

VS

Ryze

Medium

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive.

Main Points:

Since the nerfs of his range spell, it really shows on season 4 because now Karma can have a safer farming lane. Just don't let him snowball and don't push too much. If Ryze ever sees the opportunity to counter back, it will hurt. Your shield won't help ! Just stay behind and farm safely.

VS

Shen

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10)  DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:

He is really no match for you. He cannot do any kind of burst damage and your shield is enough to block most of his attacks. Be careful for his taunt though. This may be a warning for a gank. You can buy wards to solve this problem. Don't let him auto attack you though. He will eventually outsustain you.

VS

Shyvana

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main points :

Early Shyvana will be a joke on Karma. Every spell Counters Shyvana. She is so easy to bully that your lane is 100% certain to get ganked. Your biggest worries when playing against a Shyvana is the jungler.

VS

Swain

Hard

Difficulty: Medium-Hard (8/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

  • Swain has can zone you with Beatrice (his bird :3 )
  • You can easily run away from his snare and slow. This doesnt mean you counter him.
  • Swain is one the tankiest mage. With high sustain because of his ultimate and his item combination. He will outsustain you. Ask for ganks to shut him down early.
  • NEVER initiate a fight. He should be the one who starts the fight. You'll be the one to bait him.

VS

Syndra

Hard

Difficulty: Medium (8/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive

Main Points:

Iif Syndra manages to stun you, she will get the upper hand. Dodging is very important against her. Her ultimate is such a pain in the ass. Even if she misses all of her spells, she can basically 1hit ko you.

Just play from behind and try to farm creeps.

VS

Talon

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (5/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Aggresive

Main Points:
  • NEVER should you let him get near you.
  • However, if your jungler is nice enough to gank for you, try to root and soulflare.
  • Stack HP and armor versus Talon.
  • Never roam alone in the jungle. He'll be waiting for you.

VS

Twisted Fate

Medium

Difficulty: Medium (6/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

With the nerfs he got, TF's dominance in a lane is now history. You can actually get near him without getting hurt too bad and farm with no fear of getting stunned! If he uses his yellow card on you, just use renewal BEFORE he hits you. You'll be far enough from him to not get an auto attack!

VS

Vladimir

Easy

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (4/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

Thankfully his ''Q'' has a long cooldown in early game and a low range cast. Don't waste your time with soulflare on Vlad. Try using renewal! It damages him even in his pool. Cool eh? Also, your range is JUST ENOUGH to not get hit by his E. And since his ultimate does damage AFTER 5 second, you will be largely able to cast your shield meanwhile and RUN away or fight him with your renewal+ignite.

VS

Xin Zhao

Hard

Difficulty: HARD! (8/10) DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6). WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY

Playstyle: Aggresive early (1-3) Passive (if you lost your lane)

Main Points:

Xin Zhao's attack speed is crazy. He can literally knock you up before you can land any combo. Don't get near him unless you have a health advantage. Try to ask for ganks in order to reduce is lane dominance. It's so easy to bait him. Once he dove you, there is almost no chance for him to get away.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (5/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

  • Yasuo's wind wall CAN'T block your W. Try using mantra + W versus Yasuo
  • I usually rush morellonomicon instead of athene (for obvious reasons) against Yasuo and mix it with mantra + W for big dmg
  • Don't use R+Q if you know that he has wall
  • during mid game, don't rush trying to mantra Q him. wait until he cast his wall and that he is fully immobilised by your root.
  • Relatively Squishy
  • Hit him with a basic attack before using spells. (It breaks his shield)
  • Be carefull on level 1. Yasuo HURTS if he manages to get you with his dash. This can easily give him a huge lead if you are not careful.

VS

Yorick

Hard

Difficulty: Hard (8/10)  DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Passive

Main Points:

Yorick is a Nightmare. He can heal, slow, spam alot of spells and has crazy sustain. You should ask for a gank and shut him down early before he gets 3070_32.png3004_32.png. His ghosts can block your soulflare. Sooooo try to stick near your tower and wait for a gank :<

VS

Zed

Hard

Difficulty: Medium-hard (7/10) WARNING, SNOWBALLING CHAMPION. DON'T LOSE EARLY. DIFFICULTY IS BASED ON THE EARLY PHASE (LVL 1-6)

Playstyle: Mixed

Main Points:

Some people might find him hard to deal with. I find him okay. You got enough time to react whenever he uses his ulti on you. Flash AFTER he reappears and use either Renewal or souflare. You should stay behind your creeps during early game and subtly harass him. When you are starting the fight, you should always use W before casting souflare. If your W successfully roots him,use soulflare.

About me. Back to Top

Hello people, welcome to my Karma guide :D

I am Noneia from Montreal,Quebec (Which is why it shouldn't be surprising if you find some spelling mistakes in my guide because I speak french 8-) ) and I started playing LoL during the season 2. Before playing LoL I have been playing DoTA for a very long time. For this reason, I should not be taken lightly. I barely managed to get into gold elo after the end of seasons 2 and I am currently on the diamond I division. I specialise in range champions playing mostly support and adc. Don't ask me to play melee champions because I am really bad with them (bronze style).

I love experimenting with weird builds and I play mostly range support on ranked games.

I have been playing Karma for a very long time and I remember that she was one of the first champion I bought when I started playing. At that time, I didn't know that she was the most trolled champion.

I believe that I am a very decent Karma player having played over 2000 ranked games with her. I have been told many time to be the ''best Karma bait'' which is the name of this guide.

When I play ranked, I sometime get the good luck Karma which is characterised by an unusual win streak. And then, when my good luck Karma runs out, I get the Bad luck Karma which is a wave of extremely bad losing streak (my record being 23 lose streak on season 3 ƪ(‾_‾)ʃ ).

I would appreciate any comments on this guide!

Introduction to Karma Back to Top

Karma always had a bad history : She was the champion with the lowest win rate (The most fluctuating) AND pick rate, she is often trolled by players because of her previous performances.

In Karma's spotlight, Riot clearly mentions at the beginning that she has 2 play style : AP burst caster or as a  Support mage. This means that AP MID has always been viable on Karma and that she isn't only a support champion.

Lately, Karma has been reworked to become a pretty good Lux like champion. She belongs to the Nuker support category and thus, she is effective as a support or as a top mid champion. I like to play solo lane karma because I feel that her spells combined with mantra provide better effectiveness in damage than supporting. I am also aware that there are better choices for a mid champion when it comes to burst down an enemy (7_64.png103_64.png55_64.png), but the fact that Karma also provides a support playing style which other AP mages don't have makes her viable for me.

One thing is certain, Karma is currently doing great in every lane. She has plenty of great tools to kite and to protect herself from harms. She is also very resistant to sudden burst damages (thanks to her shield boosting movement speed) and has a VERY POWERFUL heal//root and slows.Because of this, she can act as a fine Damsel in distress and bait enemies.

Middle Karma (compared to other mid laners)

. Physical resistance : 5/10

. Magic resistance : 7/10

. Sustain : 6/10

. Damage : 7/10

. Supporting : 10/10

. Mobility : 8/10

. Crowd control : 7/10

TOP Karma (compared to other top laners)

. Physical resistance : 4/10

. Magic resistance : 5/10

. Sustain : 5/10

. Damage : 5/10

. Supporting : 10/10

. Mobility : 8/10

. Crowd control : 9/10

Support Karma (compared to other support champions)

. Physical resistance : 6/10

. Magic resistance : 6/10

. Sustain : 6/10

. Damage : 10/10

. Supporting : 6/10

. Mobility : 7/10

. Crowd control : 7/10

Why Karma? Back to Top

KARMA GOT REWORKED (twice !)

 Karma is good against :

. Fragile support champions 99_icon_64.png37_icon_64.png
. Skill shot champions 101_icon_64.png61_icon_64.png
. No damage range abilities 86_64.png75_64.png
. ADC  22_icon_64.png51_icon_64.png
. AP junglers 32_64.png57_64.png
. CC free champions <154.png82_icon_64.png
. No escape champions 63_icon_64.png74_icon_64.png
. 1vs1 Low damage, high sustain champions 98_64.png54_64.png14_64.png

Playing with Karma gives :

. Extremely high shield value, potentially the best shield in the game

. Unsuspected high bursts and poke.

. Can resist from high magic burst damage

. Very good support for your team

. Easy farming even as a support

Countering Mid Karma :

. High damage diving champions 23_64.png84_64.png121_64.png107_64.png

. Quick consecutive little bursts 134_64.png28_64.png69_64.png61_64.png55_64.png

. Hard CC 9_64.png33_64.png

. Instant like unstopable gap closing champions 11.png91.png56.png

. Heal reduction 3165_32.png55_64.png14.png

. Healing spells 76_64.png154_64.png

. Greater sustain than Karma 83_64.png58_64.png77_64.png27_64.png

PROS

. Extremely underestimated champion
. Simultaneous nuke AND support spells
. High sustain
. Queen of the bait
. One of the best shield in the game
.  Easy farming capabilities

CONS

. Missing soulflare will have an extremely bad impact during teamfights
. requires 2 seconds to succesfully link a target
. Relatively a semi close range champion.
. requires no minions in sight in order to poke
. Some people may consider Karma mid as a poor choice (There are many better AP mage than her)
. Her combo won't kill any target during late game.
. Karma is a team champion. She needs a good team in order to do well.

Early game Back to Top

EARLY GAME

Early game for me is between level 1-7. You need to farm effectively and control your lane with ease.

Before you do anything reckless with Karma, You should evaluate your opponent. Try to adapt your play style depending on your opponent.

. Does he have any long range abilities to harass you? Can they be dodged? (Yes!) -->99_64.png4_64.png (No!)-->13_64.png9_64.png

. Does he have any CC abilities ? 38_64.png60_64.png

. Does he have any gap closer abilities ? 103_64.png84_64.png

. Can they heal themselves ? 8_icon_64.png76_icon_64.png2003_32.png How long can they stay in the lane before going back ?

. Is he playing safe or aggressive ?

Upon reaching level 3, you should now act as the ''ooo help me mario'' lady. Because, at level 3, Karma has the advantage of having all of her spells. NEVER initiate the battle before anything happens. Watch your opponent carefully. Does he have any spells on cooldown? Is your jungler near? I like to use mantra with ''W'' from level 1-5  because it provides a much more safer and reliable dmg source than soulflare when it comes for a gank, plus it heals you. Did your opponent flash ? Then you will have a huge advantage. Try to use this precious time to zone your opponent and out farm him. (Be careful if you are pushing too far. you might get ganked).

On the opposite, if you are the one getting bullied 134_64.png90_64.png, you can always stay near your tower and farm safely until a gank comes. Use a normal shield on yourself to negate damage and throw a Q from afar to farm. If you are lucky, you will hit your opponent while he was behind a creep or trying to bully you. Subtly harass your opponent like this and soon you'll get the upper hand if he ever dives on you.

I would generally not recommend Karma to roam during early game because she can fall off pretty quickly. Try to farm and out level your enemies the fastest possible.

Avoiding ganks while playing safely with no wards?

  • Make sure to go back near your tower if you pushed too far
  • ALWAYS stay in the middle (Not too close of the left or right bush)
  • If the opponent if making some weird heroic moves and is charging towards you, this should ring an alarm for you; the jungler is near.
  • If the jungler hasn't appeared yet, simply use your shield to retreat behind
  • If the jungler is appearing from the left, simply shield yourself and exit from the right. Vice versa
  • Don't try to cast W because it will waste some time and closer the gap between you and your ennemy
  • If you got stunned/rooted etc, try to keep your calm use mantra//shield AFTER or mantra//Heal BEFORE the stun and root.
  • You can flash if things really go bad (But I usually keep this on for the last moment to bait)

Soulflare vs Renewal (level 1-5)

  • I see alot of new Karma players NOT USING RENEWAL AT ALL. They only know soulflare and that's all what they think mantra does. But the thing is, Renewal provides a MUCH more better and safe harrasment during early game.
  • Souflare is a skillshot, meaning that you can miss the spell. If you intent to harrass a single champion, you are wasting the AOE of that spell. Also, your ennemy will most likely get away from the area to avoid extra damage
  • Renewal is a targeting spell, meaning that you WILL at least deal 1/2 of the damage (Renewal hits 2 times over 2 seconds) upon connecting the leash. It also provides you a powerful healing that can prevent you from dying. It Also Roots the target and will guarantee you a hit with Inner flame.

In conclusion, Renewal is generally a much more better spell than Souflare during early game and should be used aggresively to bully your opponent. Exception goes to champions with high constant burst dmg such as 10_64.png50_64.png68_64.png69_64.png (you don't want to be near them)

Mid game Back to Top

MID GAME

Mid game for me is between level 8-15. You should start roaming and you should have some decent bursts.

You should have your boots by now and you are ready to roam. Before you start roaming, make sure that you have pushed your lane. Otherwise, you should stay in lane and keep on farming while keeping an eye on the map. Remember that you got your shield to run faster. Since you are getting more resistant and your shield is getting stronger, Karma makes a perfect champion to dive in enemy towers. Use her shield to approach an ennemy plus mantra W is very good to initiate a fight and will almost guarantee you a kill for your team. Of course, ask for allies and don't go alone.

Don't forget that all of Karma spells do damage and provide a second effect if you activate mantra. You don't need to be the one diving in a teamfight. Anyone who has the potential to initiate a team fight is a good ally for Karma. Stay near your allies and shield/slow/damage them.

Using your shield with mantra could be very effective during teamfight since it act like a Talisman and locket for your team. You will want to cast this spell when your team wants to initiate a fight OR for your second mantra to exit//bait your opponents.

Late game Back to Top

LATE GAME

Late game for me is from level 15 to 18. You have completed your core items and team fights are more frequent. You should stay behind your team and nuke from afar.

Everyone is getting harder to kill and they hurt. Hopefully, Karma's late game potential is still very good and her damage still does good. Now, you should rely on your allies to initiate a fight and protect them (especially your adc). Having two support champions near an adc will be very hard for the other team to kill him. What I like to do when a team fight starts is to cast soulflare in the center of the fight, this will result a splitting as no one wants to step on Karma's soulflare (IT HURTS AND IT SLOWS).

If no one can initiate a team fight, Karma does very good at poking. Activate your mantra and cast soulflare or just simply cast a normal Q. This can EASILY remove 50% hp from their adc and mid champions.

I usually stay far from my allies (not clustered) because of champions like 54_64.png32_64.png. Good thing is she can punish them really good.

Did I tell you that Karma excels at helping allies on baron? She can zone any champions who tries to interfere the baron and can shield the whole team. Try combining it with ardent censer !

Your favorite allies Back to Top

Karma LOVES diving//tanky champions. She is in my opinion the best supporter for a melee champion. Anyone who has the potential of starting a team fight will be a good ally for Karma because she can shield him, create a battle zone (soulflare) or root the target. Here are some examples :

. 12_icon_64.png32_icon_64.png86_icon_64.png64_icon_64.png59_icon_64.png24_icon_64.png111_icon_64.png56_icon_64.png102_icon_64.png39_icon_64.png89_icon_64.png114_icon_64.png54_icon_64.png

Close range mage champions are also great for Karma :

. 84_icon_64.png31_icon_64.png131_icon_64.png3_icon_64.png38_icon_64.png68_icon_64.png27_icon_64.png8_icon_64.png25_icon_64.png55_icon_64.png105_icon_64.png30_icon_64.png103_icon_64.png

Double-triple-quadra shields is something your allies and yourself will like :

. 64_64.png131_64.png99_64.png40_64.png72_64.png92_64.png68_64.png111_64.png54_64.png412_64.png61_64.png98_64.png117_64.png

TIPS and TRICKS Back to Top

TIPS

. Inner flame is a skill shot skill that explodes upon hitting the first ennemy is encounters. If your opponent is staying close behind creeps, you can still hit him with Inner flame since it has a small Aoe.

. Karma requires a good team in order to do well. Don't expect Karma to carry a game. However she can bring your team to do well in a fight.

. Before casting ''W'', be sure to shield yourself to get close to your opponent and negate some damage. Casting W too early might result the link to break.

. Hitting soulflare is EXTREMELY important for Karma; It is her main damaging spell and if hit succesfully, it deals a TON of damage. It will either give you a kill or get you killed if you missed it. Before trying to cast soulflare, make sure that you have a clear view (No minions in front to block your soulflare!) and that your opponent is rooted (W).

. Hitting multiple target with your spells is the key for Karma since it reduces her Mantra's cooldown by 2 second everytime it hits a champion! (I once hit 5 champions with my Soulflare and got 20 seconds cooldown reduction with the help of my W and auto attacks which allowed me to immediately cast soulflare again.)

. Karma does an amazing job for baiting enemies such as Darius, Cho Gath or Garen. Remember that your W can heal you if cast with mantra. Mix it with full cooldown reduction and 3116_32.png for the ultimate annoyance.

. If Karma has an early gank, it will greatly improve her dominance in a lane. It will literally make the ennemy melee champion impossible to farm because of her easy W, +QR combo whenever they get too close to you.

. Karma is a champion that can't snowball. Unlike 92_64.png84_64.png23_64.png107_64.png. If Karma is fed, she can push a lane pretty quickly AND turn the tide of gank upside down like 17_64.png126_64.png.

. As a mid-top champion, it would be very smart to buy 1-2 wards and place it near a bush to prevent any ganks and to anticipate the jungler's path. Karma is very hard to get ganked because of her movement bonus from her shield (that doesnt mean that she can't be caught). She also has a heal mixed with a bind that most people tend to forget.

. Karma is a semi close range champion in comparison to Lux or Zyra. She needs to stay relatively close to an enemy and have a clear view (no nearby minions) in order to harass him. Don't be scared to put pressure on your opponents; Dive on them if you think you can trade more trade dmg. She is pretty resistant compared to other mid champions. She has a heal AND a shield, which other mid champions don't have.

. It is wise to create a shortcut key for self shield casting on karma. You should be able to cast soul shield at a very fast rate against your enemies. On many situation, a great shield timing on Karma is lifesaving.

.The shortcut key shield is not only for Karma. Most of the champions that can shield an ally have their shield spell on E. ( 117_icon_64.png, 25_icon_64.png , 61_icon_64.png , 40_icon_64.png , 43_icon_64.png )

Trick #1 : Soulflare.

You will notice that Karma's Inner flame is quite hard to land. The further the target is, the easier it is to land soulflare. There is always a 1-2 inch range difference to hit your target. Good thing is, If Karma uses soulflare, it will explode upon reaching maximum range and create an AOE that will explode a second time. This will create a better accuracy for Karma and it also dramatically increases her damage.

Trick #2 : The bait.

As most people still underestimate Karma, you will quickly notice how great her baiting abilities is. She can easily heal 600 HP + to herself in a matter of seconds at a very frequent rate. When you are running away from enemies, this is where your baiting begins. Instead of using mantra for a burst shield or soulflare, you should keep mantra for your ''W''. Simply use your shield to prevent any small burst damage when you get close to your target, then start to ''W'' your target. Having 3116_32.png is even better since it will slow your target when your are linked to him. You got ''Q'' to slow and dmg your target, a shield/bonus movement speed  and a heal. How can you not like Karma ? (This is personally my favorite thing to do with Karma ^_^)

Trick #3 : Fake soulflare

Because ''Q'' requires precision to hit an opponent, any enemies who have great mobility ( 55_64.png103_64.png28_64.png105_64.png ) will be very difficult for Karma. So, instead of trying to use ''W'' and then soulflare them, you can consider to use mantra with your renewal since it is a targeting spell and not a skill shot. Since renewal is rarely used to initiate a combat, enemies will be going strange path in order to avoid your ''soulflare'' ! This guarantee you a root and a inner focus on your target.

Trick #4 : Face check with Inner flame.

Since Inner flame has a relatively low cooldown, it would be always wise to cast Inner flame when going in a patch of grass to see if there's a lurking champion waiting for you there.

Conclusion Back to Top

I'd like people to see 43_icon_64.png as a very viable champion instead of a troll. True, she had one of the lowest winning rate, but I don't think it's because of her spells. People do not see her often and when they do, she falls below expectation. It takes time to get use to her and I even had a record 23 lose streak with Karma (when she just got her remake) but it is now slowly going back up.

Her complete mystery and low expectation from players is what makes her powerful. Most of the time, she does better than expected and people are just clueless. Yes, she can be a snowball champion.

I hope that this guide could bring 43_icon_64.png a little bit more mainstream and help you understand 43_icon_64.png a little bit more.
