Summoner Spells Back to Top

21.png Personally one of my favorite summoner spells, Barrier is often underrated and can prevent you from being turned on and bursted, being more useful than exhaust against long ranged opponents and multiple enemies. The low cooldown also allows it to be used more often.

4.png You may ask yourself, why take flash when my ult is flash? It's simple. Prior to lvl 6, you will have no real tools for escaping a bad situation. It will most likely save you from an untimely demise or an early gank. Post 6, it can be used as a double gap closer, in those few precious seconds when your ult is on cooldown, or when you have too many ult stacks and not enough mana. Flash simply adds to the already high mobility of your kit, allowing for more risky decisions.

14.png In a favorable matchup, ignite will probably help you snowball, maintain vision of your quarry, and all around finish off a target. Take this when going up a rather squishy team comp, meaning at least 3 of their members are easily bursted. However, I often don't take it simply due to my own preference.

3.png Best to be taken against enemies who will try to get in close and finish you, or against snowballing duelist adcs. Examples being Zed, Leblanc, Fizz, Lucian, or Vayne. Use it as an escape tool or to tip the fight in your favor in an uncertain engagement.

Masteries Back to Top

A fairly standard AP mid mastery page. You will deviate little from this page.

However a brawler Kassadin build may opt for expose weakness instead of feast, or vampirism instead of natural talent. Maybe Intelligence over precision as well.

This is the usual path for most matchups. You start Q and max that first, followed up by your E, and finally your W. Fairly standard. However if you find yourself up against an AD assassin, starting W into Q, into E and then maxing your E should be the way to go.

3027.png - Rod of ages, an absolutely core item on Kassadin, this should usually be your first full item, with the exception of being super behind against someone like Zed or Talon, then you may opt for a Zhonyas, or against a Fizz or Leblanc, then an early Abyssal Scepter. But you should always get this item early on. It scales well into the mid game and offers nearly all the stats Kassadin wants.

3025.png - You probably won't build this item much if your games are short. This is mostly built in the late stages of the game to adopt to a more bruiser-ish role as you fall off, or as a one off defensive item, especially if you're up against a fed ADC or AD assassin. It'll probably be more of a 4th or 5th item. Very good for adding a bit of lockdown to your kit.

3116.png Rylai's Crystal Scepter, you probably won't build this much, but it does offer good stats and a good effect. However it's not necessarily Kassadin's type of item. You may want to pick it up anyway if you're going Bruiser-ish or are behind against people with a lot of mobility.

3285.png - A fairly underrated item amongst Kassadin players, Luden's is astonishingly excellent for Kassadin, adding to his burst and already high mobility. While most may say it is less useful because of Rift Walk, you actually won't want to spam it as much due to the increasing mana cost. Luden's will help you out against kite, while roaming, or when you're out of mana. And let's not forget that burst though. It's very powerful.

VS

Ahri

Easy

A fairly easy matchup if you bide your time. Maintain your distance until lvl 3, and remain aware of the capabilities of you and her at all times. Once you hit 6 she will have little power over you. Dodge charms and the rest should be easy.

VS

Akali

Medium

A difficult matchup, Akali scales much better than Kassadin, but you have an early advantage. Start Q to block the damage from her Q, and if she goes in to proc the mark before 6 feel free to turn and trade starting with your Q. Post 6 she can start to scale out of control especially if she's able to nab some kills so do your best to keep her down. An abyssal scepter or/and an iceborn gauntlet may be prudent. Her mixed damage is difficult to build against.

VS

Anivia

Easy

The advantage should always be yours against Anivia as long as you don't screw up horribly. Standard items and ability maxings should be sufficient. Be wary of her E's damage because it can still be outrageous even with your passive. Use your Q to cancel her ult channel whenever she tries to use it on you and to block some of her E's damage. She has little self defense so aggression is advised post 6.

VS

Annie

Easy

Similar to Anivia, but potentially a bit more difficult. She lacks most mage's range but makes up for it in damage and CC. Be wary of her stun and Max your Q. Go in for trades when she doesn't have it but don't disrespect her damage. She may also build a Rod of Ages, so be aware she may not be as easily bursted as other mages.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Easy

Early on Aurelion Sol can easily bully you out of lane, so be cautious. An early catalyst is excellent for providing lane sustain and a bit of tank. Post 6 be more aggressive especially if he just used his Q. Be aware that your ult still has a 6 second CD on it's first rank so be prepared to compensate if he ults you away. If his ult is down just dodge his Q and you can easily take him down.

VS

Azir

Medium

Azir is actually a difficult matchup for Kassadin due to his ability to lay on early game harass and bullying. Even post 6 his ult is usually enough to keep you away until he can kill you especially if you just ulted onto him. Before you get extra ranks into it it's a 6 second CD, more than enough time for him to widdle you down. Be cautious, and be aggressive post 6 if he just used his on you. Stand between him and his soldiers so he cannot dash to them. He may be forced to waste his ult defending himself in this way.

VS

Brand

Medium

Brand is actually a fairly difficult matchup due to his percent damage and usual build chock full of MR pen. However he is significantly more mana hungry than Kassadin. Take any trade you can without getting hit with more than 2 abilities, especially his Pillar of Fire. Be wary of when he conflagrates you or he just acts aggressively when you're burning, he will try to Q and stun you. Remain aware that his passive combination deals a lot of damage even through MR.

VS

Cassiopeia

Easy

A fairly easy matchup, as long as you can stick to Cass, which is actually fairly difficult. Mercury Treads and an Abyssal Scepter are optimal items int his matchup. Be aware her Miasma prevents the use of your ult, so avoiding it or getting out of it immediately is a must.

VS

Diana

Medium

Diana has exceptional burst and sustainability in trading. Her power is not to be underestimated. An early Abyssal should help fight her. Be aware of her mobility especially when chasing people down.

VS

Ekko

Hard

Kassadin's matchup with Ekko is actually extremely varied. A player who doesn't play Ekko a lot should be easy to deal with. However a more experienced Ekko player will make use of his passive and higher mobility (his total mobility is lower than Kasssadin's, but he is able to make more use of his mobility in a shorter amount of time) to dance around you and look for favorable situations. His percentage damage and ability to follow up low health targets can be extremely oppressive if you are unprepared.

VS

Ezreal

Easy

Ezreal is probably one of the easiest champions to deal with for Kassadin.
