Summoner Spells Back to Top

Ok. As you noticed there are 3 options that you can use. Well, each one of them is a option that depends on you and enemy picks.

1. Why 14.png and 4.png ?

Well, simply because its a safe choice against Kassadin's 38.png counters (which you can find down below).
Its pretty easy. Use them when you want to secure kills or when you want to play safe (before you hit level 6) if there are enemies that can harass you. Let's say that you're playing against very good Orianna 61.png player. They will probably zone you with her ball and harass if you make a mistake. If they see a kill they'll go for it and try to kill you. So you have Flash 4.png. Well Ignite 14.png can be used in 3 situations: a) Reduce healing on enemy champions with heals, lifesteal, etc. b) Secure a kill if you go aggressive or if they tower dive you. c) If your jungler is ganking (if enemy has no escape spells or if they're on cooldown) ignite to reduce enemy's health to secure the kill or at least force them to back away which gives you advantage over farm and gold.

2. Why 14.png and 12.png ?

Well... This is an aggressive choice. If you're playing against champions you know you'll win against, then this is a choice for you. Ignite 14.png can be used in situations same as I mentioned earlier. So this time is basically just kills.
And now why teleport 12.png . Well, its mostly used for helping your team in clashes and teamfights. It is still pretty aggressive choice. Mostly used against champions that Kassadin 38.png counters.

3. Why 12.png and 4.png ?

Okay... This is a choice that mixes with safe-ish and aggressive-ish playstyles. Again, it all depends how you play and what enemy champions are. Teleport 12.png is used mostly for keeping you in farming and gold advantage and helping your team in need. Flash 4.png is for securing kill and escapes. Mostly used when you're playing against champions that can roam easily and can outfarm you anytime.

You can choose different combinations for each champion... Or just take one combination that suits you and use that one all the time.

Well then... Let's move right to runes

Personally, I don't like to use Deathfire Touch. I use Thunderlord instead.

1. Ferocity

The path that's been shown is probably most usable so it doesn't have to be changed. You get Ability Power, Magic Penetration and its pretty safe to take Feast because of Kassadin's 38.png melee range. Because of his ultimate Riftwalk riftwalk.png he can engage easily and unexpected in any team fight or just a skirmish. So you take Battle Trance for more damage coming from you combo. You can also take Bounty Hunter... You are assassin after all :P.

2.Cunning.

This is where it gets tricky... Savagery is necessary in any situation. But that doesn't mean that you don't have to take Wanderer. Secret Stash is pretty useful in early stages (mostly before you hit level 6). It's even more useful if you buy Dark Seal (we will talk about that when we get there :3). But its no harm to take Assassin instead. It's more for actual assassination of their squishy targets. Meditation is necessary in 75% of situations. Before you buy Tear (again, we will talk about that) it's much more useful to take instead Merciless. Merciless is an aggressive option. It's much more effective but there will be a huge gap in you mana pool. You don't really need extra 1 gold because you need to farm. If you get 1 gold it means you're really bad at farming :P. Get that 5% more Cooldown Reduction because of Kassadin's 38.png ultimate Riftwalk riftwalk.png. It gets to 1.1 second cooldown with full build.
Thunderlord... For maximum damage with full combo.

Next... Abilities :D

Okay. There is an option here. You can either max Q or E. While Q is more effective option at all stages, E does much more damage if maxed first (I wouldn't recommend that for players that are still learning).

Time to explain the abilities:

Q: A point-click ability that deals damage and grants you a Magic Damage Shield for a short but sufficient period of time. It also interrupts channeling spells (like Malzahar's 90.png Ultimate malzaharr.png or Jhin's 202.png Ultimate jhinr.png). Best to use when you want to engage or save your team from channeling spells and to deal huge amount of damage and protect yourself from incoming magic damage.

W: A Basic-Attack Empower and Auto-Attack reset that passively deals increased magic damage with his Basic- Attacks and actively does damage and restores mana equal to your % of mana pool. It is very useful when destroying tower to reset your AA with W.It's also effective when using a full combo.

E: A wide ranged spell with slow and damage that has to be charged. Its charged when you anyone around uses spells. 6 spells need to be casted before you can use it. Its usefull to slow targets so you can use your full combo

VS

Ahri

Easy

Just dodge her abilities and you'll be fine :P.

VS

Akali

Easy

As a counter to most AP champions you can do a lot of damage to damage-relying champions like Akali. Make sure you use Q every single time she uses Q so you don't take any poke damage. Afterwards, by the time you get level 6 you dominate the lane.

VS

Anivia

Hard

Really hard match-up because of her early game and Q/R-E combo. Play safe until someone arrives and DO NOT go aggressive because if her passive. Try to avoid her R and Q because she won't do huge damage with just E.

VS

Annie

Medium

Early laning phase is mostly okay for you. Use Q whenever she uses her Q to avoid poke damage. Her stun is useless before her ultimate (unless you're being ganked). After level 6 try your best to avoid her stun and ESPECIALLY her R.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Easy

You're pretty much his biggest counter because of your R and melee range. He can't  do much with his passive or Q while you AA him. Watch out for his stun and R. No worries mid and late game if you do well early.

VS

Azir

Easy

His soldiers can harass you early but if you do well you can easily counter that with your R. Riftwalk is the most useful against him.

VS

Brand

Medium

He can poke really hard so watch out at early stages. But at soon as you hit level 6 you're pretty much equal against brand or maybe even stronger

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

You can easily dodge every skillshot and especially her R. But she can harass you early really hard and she can deny your R if she uses W and if you step on it. Your R is the most necessary ability against her.

VS

Diana

Easy

She can't burst you without her R but neither can you so just poke her with Q whenever she uses her Q. She's easy to outplay.
