Summoner Spells Back to Top

Hello and welcome to the "Super Duper Kassadin Beginner's Guide".
I will cover all sorts of options that beginners should/could use in general and that includes:
  • - Certain playstyle
  • - Certain buildpaths
  • - Certain options
  • and etc.
231.png
First things first. Summoner Spells

This is pretty basic. There are used the same by more advanced players as well, so don't worry too much about it.

Flash 4.png is a pretty basic and safe. Although, it can be used aggressively. But we will focus on safe options for flash.
  • Flash can be used as escape or dodge in early stages of game (mostly pre-6 levels).
  • It can also be used as a way to make a combo that usually requires your Ultimate riftwalk.png
  • It can be used to dodge lethal or dangerous CC abilities or spells in general, such as Morgana's Q darkbindingmissile.png
  • Flash can be used for a certain Flash+Ultimate combo to maximize range and surprise enemies (wouldn't recommend to use this combo without getting used to playing Kassadin since is pretty risky).
Be careful how you use flash, because you are vulnerable with low mana for your ultimate riftwalk.png. Especially before level 6.

Okay, now for Ignite. 14.png

Ignite is simply used for confident and fairly easy match-ups. Now, consider that this is not a safe option. This option is used to increase burst damage overall with runes. Taking Ignite depends if:
  • Match-up is easy (For example if you play VS melee champ with weak early game, or super squishy and skill shot depended champs)
  • For Medium match-ups where you depend on any sort of damage source.

Now, let's cover this up with last spell, Teleport.12.png

Teleport is used for safe plays. I wouldn't recommend taking this if you don't want to fall off in damage, but just to be safe TAKE IT. There are simple reasons for it:
  • It keeps you in pace with a hard match-up
  • You can teleport to a place where there might be a team fight (helping team)
  • Or just teleporting where there might be a risk of losing objectives.
Even if those points about 12.pngteleport seem pretty much better than 14.pngignite, it is still viable to take ignite that can make you snowball early on. Remember that you get better and stronger as game progresses.

P.S. I don't use teleport at all :P

New Runes Back to Top

-Damage Runes-

127.jpg

Primary Runes

You will want to take Electrocute 8112.png?width=32as your full combo does so much damage with it, it is actually questionable.
It synergises really well with Kassadin's kit and it allows him to be what he's meant to be, a Burst, Mobile, AP Assassin.

Sudden impact 8143.png?width=32is pretty much self explanatory. As you use your ultimateriftwalk.png it gives you Magic Penetration. Again, allows him to maximize his damage.

Eyeball Collection 8138.png?width=32is giving you extra AP on the side as you kill enemies and destroy enemy wards.

Ultimate Hunter...8106.png?width=32 Well, I don't think I need to explain. Since we all want that juicy 1 second cooldown on ultimateriftwalk.png. Basically mana-costing-one-second flash.

179.pngSecondary runes

Usually always these two:
  1. Presence of Mind 8009.png?width=32: Recover mana after a takedown, which results in more frequent ultimates riftwalk.png
  2. Coup De Grace 8014.png?width=32: Simply just dealing more damage to low health enemies.
P.S. I always use this rune page :D

-Poke Runes-

Primary Runes

Okay, so as for the poke rune, they are used for, you guessed it, poking.

You will want to take this against champions with better early game than you or with greater range early on. (Orianna61.png, Anivia 34.png,etc.)

So, to cover the runes. You will need:

Secondary Runes

These two were covered in Damage Runes section, so going over them is not beneficial :(

506.png-Safe Runes-

Primary Runes

These runes are used for matches against Hard match-ups. They are usually melee AD assassins or Fighters. Picking these runes should keep you safe as you safely go through early stages of the game.

These runes were covered in previous section. Same concept and usage.

Void Stone (Passive) kassadinpassive.png

Your passive allows you to take 15% less magic damage and grants you unit collision.
This makes Kassadin survive in lane versus ranged or poke champions. Also grants you better movement in lane or anywhere else.

Null Sphere nulllance.png

As you can see, your Q nulllance.png Null Sphere is taken first. The reason for that is that it is an only point click ranged ability. It gives you poke potential and it negates any magic damage you enemy throws at you. It also interrupts channel abilities such as Jhin's ultimate jhinr.png or Xerath's Q xeratharcanopulsechargeup.pngor Teleport12.png. Maxing it out will give you frequent magic damage shield and channel interruption.

Nether Blade netherblade.png

Personally, I think this is the best Basic Attack Empower ability ever made.
It has all sorts of things included.
  • Recovers mana depending on your missing mana and if you basic attacked a minion or a champion.
  • You can reset your Basic Attack and deal more damage that way.
  • You get more Basic Attack damage because of its passive
This ability is also used on towers. Doesn't recover mana, but it resets your Basic Attack which can lead to an easier pushing skill.

Force Pulse forcepulse.png

This ability can be confusing. I'll make it simple.
First off, you don't have this ability right away. You need 6 abilities cast by you or anyone around you to be able to activate it, so keep in mind you can't always have this ability available.
This is an AOE (area of effect) ability. It blasts in a cone slowing and damaging enemies.

Riftwalk riftwalk.png

Finally, the most iconic ultimate ever made. Also known as "Free Flash"
You must have heard of this ability at some point. But in case you didn't, here's a recap:
  • Blinks you to a short target location (just like flash, but with a minor delay when casted).
  • Costs 50 mana at first, but doubles for each cast - 50>100>200>400>800 (resets back to 50 after 15 seconds).
  • Deals AOE damage. Damage increases each time mana duplicates.
  • You can cancel Q nulllance.pnganimation when casting it and right as you cast, you use your ultimate.
This ability is easily Kassadin's most important ability, so use it wisely.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Gives you damage and better lane sustain versus easy to medium match-ups. Also depends on enemy.
This Starting Item can help you as you poke your enemy and control your mana. You can also deal a slightly more damage just by using the effect of Corrupting potion.

Core Items

This Core Item build is for damage and poke. You can use this build for both Damage and Poke runes.
This item build is used if you're having a hard time against any AP mage/assassins. It gives you safety and damage. Although you can be more vulnerable to AD champions.
This item build is used against AD match-ups. You can take less damage and deal more with no sweat. But be careful against AP champions.
And finally. One shot, huge burst, high damage build. This can literally one shot someone so hard they start question someone you were up against. Recommended to use only and ONLY with Damage Runes and ONLY if you are fed above heaven.

Situational Items

If you are struggling against AD champs even with the Armor build, take Iceborn Gauntlet instead of Lich Bane. Rabadon's Deathcap gives you a lot more damage in Burst build ONLY, but you lack on magic penetration. Void staff can give a huge chunk of magic penetration but you can lack in damage.
