Summoner Spells Back to Top

For top lane, unless you are extremely confident on Kennen, and KNOW you can definitely get kills (in which case, 14.png), ALWAYS go 12.png, it is amazing for getting flanks off bot lane to get double kills, great for flank engages in teamfights, and just great if you need to get back to top lane.


However, 6.png seems to work sometimes, but it isn't as good, but you can go it if you want to, it is more of a comfort pick if anything.

And, of course, ALWAYS go 4.png, great synergy with Kennen overall, an engage champion that needs to get onto the enemy backline/whole team very quickly.

This seems like a really obvious choice, most other guides do agree, but i will run through it.


Ferocity

Sorcery - 5 Points

He is a mage, the extra AP is really good on all mages, and is better (for me anyway) that extra attack speed, as that stat is fine on its own.

Fresh Blood

In lane, where this and Feast are most effective, this is so much better for trading, poking, and harass in general, the extra damage is really nice.

Natural Talent

Because extra AD and AP are always good on Kennen and the lifesteal and spellvamp feels extremely lackluster.

Double-Edged Sword

This is a toss up between this and Bounty Hunter, it all comes down to: Do you want lane pressure with the immediate 5% and don't mind taking the additional 2.5%, or do you want a much stronger late game with a weaker laning phase, i personally like to win laning phase hard, but it's a toss up.

Cunning

Savagery

Because extra damage to minions helps with last hitting and when will you really need the extra movement speed, when you already have kennenlightningrush.png for roaming.

Assassin

Best mastery for all non-tank top laners and a must take on them, 2% extra damage when you are not being ganked is definitely better for Kennen than the extra healing on Biscuits (and no mana, so even better to take Assassin)

Merciless

Because mana regen is useless on Kennen, already doesn't have problems with energy, so it's a no brainer.

Dangerous Game

Bandit is not good top lane, let's get that clear, it is just better to get Dangerous Game or Greenfather's, which it doesn't matter which you go, but i have been saved so much by this, so definitely useful.

Precision

Because the extra CDR is not as good on Kennen, his CD's are already good enough as it is, and the extra Lethality and Magic Pen is better.

Thunderlords Decree

Because it is, and probably always will be, the best mastery on Kennen, and i will explain why later.

Level Up Order

Because this is League of Legends and this is extremely obvious, it is our strongest ability

You can max it after kennenshurikenstorm.png or after kennenbringthelight.png, it all depends on lane. If the enemy is easily harassed (so any melee champion) and will have a hard time trading back with range, don't go this. This is for those matchups that can force you away from minions to farm at range, and also if they aren't easily traded with, this is when it is good to take this, so it is easier to farm.

kennenbringthelight.png:

Like kennenshurikenhurlmissile1.png, it can be maxed in two ways, but, you want to get this If the enemy is easily harassed (so any melee champion) and will have a hard time trading back with range, the thunderlords proc comes extremely easy with your kennenbringthelight.png passive followed by its active (4 autos generate an empowered auto that deals more damage and gives them a mark of your kennenpassive.png, giving two procs to thunderlords)

Everything is just more essential to max before it.

Starting Items

    Standard starting items, your trading in lane is AA based, so you want the extra AD

Core Items

    Just a glorious item on Kennen, the engage potential skyrockets with this item, and means you don't have to rely on flash to engage (but i recommend using both to engage, flash then protobelt)
    It might have been nerfed, but it is still a good item, and even cheaper. It is good to catch enemies out of position.
    Because we don't want you dying in the middle of your ultimate, now do we?

Situational Items

    Situational: Sorc boots are the best when ahead, because magic pen. Ionian boots work if you just need that extra early CDR, and the other two depend on the matchup, more magic damage/CC, merc treads, more physical damage, Ninja Tabi.
    If you need that little extra magic pen and health.
    2nd life, you now get to do even more damage after you engage and somehow die before the enemy team.
    If you need the extra AP and you are very far ahead.
    If you need extra MR
    Would have put this as another core item, but can be switched for Abyssal, having said that, 35% magic pen, that will shred through their team.

Just dodge the aatroxq.png and kite with your stun, then you win this easily with your trading, because range into melee tends to go to the ranged overall

Early on, level 1-5, fine, just poke and dodge his feralscream.png and rupture.png with your kennenlightningrush.png, but after that, he gets incredibly tanky, and you can't poke him well. Just be careful of the silence and you will be fine, and also the rupture.png and feast.png.

VS

Darius

Easy

Darius REALLY doesn't like being kited, which you do easily, thanks to your kennenbringthelight.png, so just keep out of dariuscleave.png range, or go to the inner circle and kennenlightningrush.png away, and watch out for the dariusaxegrabcone.png.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

This does become hard to KILL later on, but you won't die to him if you can dodge his infectedcleavermissilecast.png, so you will win overall by forcing him off CS.
