Summoner Spells Back to Top

Its very obvious what spell summoners you should be taking, sometimes people that are really good with him take 3.png but in my opinion having the ability to khazixR.png4.pngkhazixE.png to cover more ground is just much better than the dueling potential exhaust can give.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

Going to explain on detail each mastery:

FEROCITY TREE:

  1. Sorcery: This is a better than the attack speed, since a 2% by itself isn't much but when you sum all of the masteries that gives you amplified damage it really matters in the end and since Kha'zix is a caster champion this is better for him.
  2. Double Edged Sword: No question about this, having 3% more damage is overall better for him than the other options.
  3. Natural Talent: I take this now because even though the AD is low, I forgot about the AP on this, even if a little it helps my W and passive damage, overall it ends up giving you more damage and Vampirism isn't that noticable.
  4. Bounty Hunter/Oppresor: I generally take Oppresor if I'm going the hard ganking playstyle and remember your passive and W gives you a slow where this mastery procs, but in late game is pretty normal to get the full Bounty Hunter damage going on, so if you wish to be more aggresive early take Oppresor, otherwise Bounty Hunter is better.

You shouldn't be going deeper than this since the other masteries suck a LOT for Kha'zix, Warlord Bloodlust is for lifesteal champions and he don't need it, Fervor of Battle sounds good on paper but remember this is ON HIT DAMAGE, it doesn't add AD so your abilities are stronger, you can make a playstyle with Trinity Force and this mastery, but there are better options, and finally Death Fire Touch is for champion who can proc it constantly and Kha'zix is a burst champion.

CUNNING TREE:

  1. Savagery: This is to clear camps faster in the early game, I prefer this much more so I can pressure/farm more.
  2. Assasin: No doubt here, you're gonna give your mid and adc the buffs so you don't need more time on them, but this damage makes his isolation stronger.
  3. Merciless: Again obvious choice, you can erase enemies with less than 40% HP faster.
  4. Dangerous game: Very useful mastery and has saved me a lot of times on really clutch situations.
  5. Intelligence: I really like the 3 armor pen you get from Precision, but Intelligence does so much for Kha'zix in the mid game when you get the 45%, having your abilities more often has saved me a lot of times. Not only that but with my set of runes I get 15% CDR early game making my clear more healthy and faster.
  6. Thunderlord's Decree (TDL): Its the most used one on this champion and with a good reason since you can poke better with this jumping on someone and using all your abilities plus your passive and TDL makes really good damage, but what made this mastery so great was the Precision mastery which was overbuffed imo but now its not that great as a mastery as before giving only 3 arpen early game and 5.4 at lvl 18 which is not that good but not bad either since you do magic damage with TDL and your passive you still need to take Precision. This especially amazing if their team has only squishies.
  7. Stormraider's Surge (SRS): I've been playing with this mastery a lot lately, the buff is really amazing of course I miss the damage from TDL but this mastery has giving me much more kills and helped me a lot in ganks, the follow up you can have is not to be understimated and the extra slow resistance is a nice bonus, this helps too in the sense that you can jump in a fight burst someone activate SRS with ult and back off. I REALLY recommend you to try this, it might fit your style of play better than TDL.

RESOLVE TREE:

  1. Recovery: This is the better of the worst honestly, you don't build full tank so the other one is not needed.
  2. Explorer: Remember you need to clear fast but you don't take that much damage and you have sustain, so taking Explorer is overall better so you can roam faster when you get your upgraded boots.
  3. Runic Armor: 45 HP is not that useful while Runic Armor gives me more sustain during the whole game with my W and Deaths Dance if I'm taking it.
  4. Insight: Having your flash faster is so useful because you can cover more ground with it when ganking and you can make plays better.
  5. Swiftness: I love this mastery so much, Kha'zix worst enemy is Crowd Control, so this mastery helps a lot with that issue, sure with the other you get more resistance but I value so much having a ticket free, which is why I value Mercurial Scimitar so much on him.
  6. Strenght of the Ages (SOA): This my favorite mastery to take on Kha'zix IF I'M GOING WITH THE FARM UNTIL 6 PLAYSTYLE, this coupled with my seals makes me quite tanky and can survive a lot of hard situations, this gives me more room to work and make plays, while having a full Assasin game style makes you go really passive because you can blow up easy, there are some games where one playstyle is better than the other and I'll explain it in detail later.
So which mastery to take? I was taking TDL but after testing SRS I love it on Kha'zix but its your choice, either you can have damage with TDL, utility in form of movement burst with SRS or more durable with SOA.

Finally lets explain which combined tree's I normally take and in which situations.
  • 12-18-0: This is for the full assasin mastery page, when I have tanks that can initiate for me then this set is really good because you take every damage enhanced possible on him make him erase anyone, but remember you need to choose wisely because there are situations (enemy Janna) where its going to be really hard to kill their carry. For patch 6.13 I like taking this because I get intelligence and with those 45% CDR I can make more  plays and early game I have a faster and healthier clear.
  • 12-0-18: If you want the SOA mastery and the most damage as well, then taking the Ferocity Tree is better, you take this if you think you can stack Bounty Hunter, overall I like this 6-6-18 one better, but this is pretty good as well. This set makes me quite tanky and with Crowd Control reduction which is always nice, I take this when I know I can't kill the carries, they might have a Janna or Lulu where they have too much peel for me to one shot anyone, so this gives me the tankyness to turn Khazix into a fighter.
  • 0-12-18: You lose too much damage in my opinion with this, yeah you get utility but losing the Double Edge Sword mastery for some situational ones is a really though choice, I honestly don't think this is a good set for Kha'zix, unless you really need the Dangerous game one. This is really good for tanks but Khazix isn't one, so don't take this.

UPDATE: After nearly 50 games on Khazix after I wrote this guide, Thunderlord's is the best mastery for him in any situation, there has been times where the enemy is 1 hp left to die and the TDL would help me get the kills, plus it helps me with the dueling and it scales well into the mid game. If you're not confortable with TDL then go Strenght of the Ages, but for more experimented Khazix players, TDL is the best one.

khazixpassive.png UNSEEN THREAT

Innate:
Kha'Zix gains Unseen Threat when the enemy team loses sight of him, causing his next basic attack against an enemy champion to deal 15 - 190 (depends on levels) (+ 50% AP) bonus magic damage and  slow them by 25% for 2 seconds.

Description: Pretty good passive for him, this makes his auto attack stronger and you can proc it multiple times going in and out of fog of war, this has won me a lot of duels.

khazixQ.png Taste Their Fear

RANGE: 425 / 325 / 375
COST: 20 mana
COOLDOWN: 3 seconds.

Passive: Kha'Zix marks all visible enemies who aren't accompanied by any of their allies nearby as isolated.

Active: Kha'Zix slashes the target enemy, dealing physical damage, increased by 30% against isolated targets.

Physical damage: 70 / 95 / 120 / 145 / 170 (+ 120% Bonus AD)

Evolved Enlarged Claws: Kha'Zix gains 50 bonus range on his basic attacks and Taste Their Fear, which also deals 10 - 180 (based on level) (+ 104% Bonus AD) bonus physical damage to isolated targets.

Evolved Isolation Physical Damage: 91 / 123.5 / 156 / 188.5 / 221 + 10 - 180 (based on level) (+ 260% Bonus AD).

Description: This is your bread and butter, this should be ALWAYS be leveled as priority on Kha'zix except his ultimate of course, one thing to notice is that it has a very high scaling, when its evolved and a enemy is isolated you get 2.6*BonusAD, so this tells you that Kha'zix scales incredible well with raw AD and armor penetration along with CDR so you can cast it faster. You can cast Q MID AIR while jumping remember that, going to go more in depth in the combo section.

khazixW.png Void Spike
RANGE: 1000 / 275
SPEED: 1650
COST: 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 mana
COOLDOWN: 9 seconds

Active: Kha'Zix fires a cluster of spikes in a line that detonates upon hitting an enemy, slowing all enemies in a small area 20% for 2 seconds and dealing them physical damage, increased by 20% against monsters.

「 Physical Damage: 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+ 100% bonus AD) 」

Kha'Zix heals himself if he is within the detonation radius.

Heal: 60 / 85 / 110 / 135 / 160 (+ 50% AP)

Evolved Spike Racks: Void Spike fires three clusters in a cone, Slow icon slows by 50% and grants Sight icon sight of enemy champions hit for 2 seconds. Multiple explosions do not deal extra damage to the same target or provide Kha'Zix with additional healing.

Description: This gives you sustain and a nice slow, the scaling is ok but you normally use this to combo with your other skills. While clearing you should wait until the last hp of the jungle monsters to get a good healing, this especially good in the first clear, going to explain more on how to clear in a healthy way. You can W-E-Q mid air as a basic combo for him. This evolved when having 45% CDR at level 16 makes Kha'zix a monster at kiting and chasing people while having the 3071.png passive proc on multiple enemies. Also one last thing is that you can cast W while finish the jumping animation, so if know you can't use W to land it on the enemy, then jump Q mid air and W at the end.

khazixE.png Leap
RANGE: 700 / 900
COST: 50 mana
COOLDOWN: 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 / 12

Active: Kha'Zix leaps to the target location, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies upon landing.

Physical Damage: 65 / 100 / 135 / 170 / 205 (+ 20% Bonus AD)

Evolved Wings: Leap gains range and its cooldown is reset on enemy champion takedowns.

Description: Not much to say that you can't alredy guess or imagine, but something to notice is to try to not use this ability to start a gank, what I mean is go behind the enemy and land the W then Q auto force a flash and then jump on them to finish the job, also while this has damage on it don't rely too much on it its not noticable at all.

khazixR.png Void Assault
COST: 100 mana
COOLDOWN: 100 / 90 / 80

Passive: Each rank in Void Assault allows Kha'Zix to evolve one of his abilities, granting it additional effects.

Active: Kha'Zix enters stealth for 1 second, acquiring Unseen Threat.png Unseen Threat, gaining 40% bonus movement speed and Ghost ghosting while stealthed.

After 2 seconds of leaving stealth, and for the next 15 seconds, Void Assault can be cast a second time at no additional cost.

Evolved Active Camouflage
: Void Assault can be cast a total of 3 times and each instance grants 2 seconds of stealth.

Description: This is used to create chaos in a team fight since the enemy lose sight of you, this is more for a way to wait for your cooldowns to go on or to avoid a ability like Rengar or Zed jumping on you and further doing more damage. You can cast this at the end of the jumping animation just like you could do with your W, so you can E-Q mid air-R at the end of the animation. The evolved portion of this ability is really nice because more stealth means your enemy can't see you so you avoid damage while erasing your target or just creating chaos in a fight.

WHAT TO EVOLVE?

Remember Kha'zix is a versatile champion, so the same reasoning needs to be mantained with this evolution, generally EVERYONE evolves khazixQ.png at level 6, is this a mistake? It depends on what the game needs from you, do you need dueling potential in ISOLATION context? Then khazixQ.png is the best evolution at lvl 6. Do you need to tower dive or going in sticky situations and come out? For instance a Flash Tibbers to damage someone and following it with your resets from evolved khazixE.png is MUCH more worth than having the extra damage from khazixQ.png. As I said everything you build and do on Kha'zix is situational and depends on what the game needs from you. Get at level 6 the one you need the most and then at 11 the other one.

At 16 you can take khazixR.png giving so much more with the extended stealth and one more time to use. khazixW.png is great when you have 45% CDR or 40% because it helps to proc the passive of 3071.png on multiple targets and kiting and chasing them, really useful. Which to take? Generally if I don't have Black Cleaver then I rather avoid leveling W since its one of the benefits it has, but it depends, if you feel you need more survival then evolving R is better otherwise W is the way to go.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Core Items

    Choose one of these.

Situational Items

This is one of the most important parts of the guide and the reason i didn't put anything besides the core items is because:

ITEMIZATION IS SITUATIONAL!

Yeah this is the most important aspect of a player, your items aren't set in stone you take what you need according to if you're snowballing, your and the enemy team composition, a certain enemy champion getting fed, etc, gonna try to explain in this section which items to take.

JUNGLE

I take 1039.png with 2031.png since it helps me make a full clear without losing to much HP and invading or do lvl 2 ganks, Talisman helps more champions who rely on abilities to clear jungle so its the best option for Kha'zix. From there I take:

- 3711.png when I need vision control, this makes or break the mid game, having more vision can give you information to see where the enemy is going or where he is and you can catch them isolated.

- 3715.png only when I need the damage reduction and dueling people like Master Yi, Aatrox, Shaco or champions like Zed, Yasuo.

- 3706.png is great when you need the extra CC for ganks or catching people, generally if I don't need vision but also don't need to duel people but rather one shot them, then I choose this smite.

Now lets talk about every item besides Warrior to give my personal thoughts about them and when you should build what and in which context:

3071.pngBLACK CLEAVER: 3100

Stats
+300 health
+50 attack damage
+20% cooldown reduction
Passive
- Unique: Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion Cleaves them, reducing their armor by 5% for 6 seconds, stacking up to 6 times for a maximum of 30%.
- Unique – Rage: Dealing physical damage grants 20 movement speed for 2 seconds. Assists on Cleaved enemy champions or kills on any unit grant 60 movement speed for 2 seconds instead. This movement speed bonus is halved for ranged champions.

Description: Good item it gives follow up, tankyness, AD and the most important aspect is the Cleave passive, this lets you break 30% of the enemy total armor so you can kill tanks and squishies alike, this patch is a more tank focused one so you need ways to kill them and this item lets you do exactly that. You can argue that it takes a full combo to apply but Kha'zix has really low CD's after building this item so you duel people really easy with this. You should go for this item when behind, since Youmuu won't be that good and it gives him nice stats. If you're against a very tanky team and you have a full AD team then 3036.png and 3033.png won't be enough, Black Cleaver will be a must if you want to destroy them.

3156.pngMAW OF MALMORTIUS: 3250

Stats
+50 magic resistance
+55 attack damage
+10 armor pen
Passive
Upon taking magic damage that would reduce maximum health below 30%, grants Lifeline and Lifegrip. (90 second cooldown.)
- Unique – Lifeline: Grants a shield that absorbs 300 (+ 100% bonus magic resistance) magic damage for 5 seconds.
- Unique – Lifegrip: Grants +25% attack speed, +10% spell vamp and +10% life steal until out-of-combat.

Description: Very cost efficent item since it can protect you from magic burst and it gives the so valuable Armor Penetration, not much to say but that this is a item thats absolute core unless the enemy has a heavy AD composition. You should build this second if they have triple AP comp since the magic shield helps you a lot to survive sticky situations while also boosting your damage.

3742.pngDEAD MAN'S PLATE: 2800

Stats
+500 health
+50 armor
Passive
Unique – Dreadnought: Generates Momentum stacks while moving, up to 100, granting up to +60 bonus movement speed. Momentum slowly decays while Slow icon slowed and decays rapidly while immobilized or Disarm iconSilence icon pacified.
Unique – Crushing Blow: Basic attacks (on-hit) discharge all Momentum, dealing +1 on-hit physical damage for every 2 Momentum discharged. If 100 stacks are discharged, damage is doubled to +100 and Slow icon slows its target by 75%, decaying over 1 second.

Description: Such a incredible item right now, it really helps Kha'zix roam faster in the map while giving him tankyness and a on hit damage on his first auto which gets amplified with his passive, a really good item if you want to go more tanky. You should never build this second, if you feel you need armor get it third at least, you need a damage item its the best and only armor item besides Guardian Angel, you should be building.

3139.pngMERCURIAL SCIMITAR: 3700

Stats
+35 magic resistance
+75 attack damage
+10% life steal
Active
- Unique – Quicksilver: Removes all debuffs from your champion and grants +50% movement speed for 1 second. 90 second cooldown.

Description: Very useful and underrated item, it really saves you from sticky situations, gives a LOT of AD and good resistance, I like to build this item if the enemy has a strong CC that can lock me down. I generally build this fourth item, if I need the active badly then I get a 3140.png and leave it there to finish it later.

3078.png, TRINITY FORCE: 3733

Stats
+250 health
+40% attack speed
+25 attack damage
+5% movement speed
+250 mana
+20% cooldown reduction
Passive
- Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack (on-hit) deals 200% base attack damage as bonus physical damage. (1.5 second cooldown)
- Unique – Rage: Basic attacks (on-hit) grant +20 flat movement speed for 2 seconds. Killing a Unit grants +60 flat movement speed instead.

Description: This is pretty amazing offensive item if snowballing, the extra auto+passive deals really high damage and the phage passive is really good as well, on paper it sounds lame, but honestly just try it this and you will love it. I like selling boots and getting this item late game but sometimes when I'm really fed I like taking this item plus it helps you dueling with your passive. This should be built if you're snowballing very hard, don't understimate the damage of the Sheen proc it really adds a lot to your damage but its really expensive for a jungler and it requieres at  least to proc Spellblade at least two times, sometimes you want a full burst or a more quick power spike, but as a sixth item is really good.

With the new update this item now gives 20% CDR and more attack speed making your auto attack passive animation more smooth, still going to test this item to see how strong it is now on him but the CDR sounds so good for him, I might try 3142.png into  3078.png  for instant CDR cap and strong burst.

3053.pngSTERAK'S GAGE: 2700

Stats
+500 health
+25% base attack damage
Passive
Grants Sterak's Fury upon taking 400 - 1800 (based on level) damage within 5 seconds (45 second cooldown).
Unique – Sterak's Fury: Grants increased size, +25% additional base attack damage, and a rapidly decaying shield based of 30% maximum health for 8 seconds.

Description: This item should be built if you feel like you can get bursted if you go in a team fight, for instance a LOT of AOE spells from different champions, in general its a really good defensive items, if you have trouble deciding between items like this then if you are against more AP champions then getting this with Maw of Malmortious makes you quite tanky against them.

3074.pngHYDRA: 3500

Stats
+75 attack damage
+100% base health regeneration
+12% life steal
Passive
Life steal applies to 50% of Cleave and Crescent's splash physical damage.
Unique – Cleave: Basic attacks deal 20% to 60% of your attack damage physical damage to units around your target – (20% AD near the edge). (350 units radius.)
Active
Unique – Crescent: Deals 60% to 100% of your attack damage physical damage to units around you – (60% AD near the edge). (400 units radius and 10 seconds cooldown.)

Cleave's and Crescent's damage procs The Black Cleaver's passive effect.

Description: One of the most discussed item for Kha'zix, this item has really good sinergy with him because you can proc it mid air while jumping plus it gives really good sustain and makes your jungle clear faster so whats the problem with it and why its not worth for some players that main this champion? For me personally there are better items.
  • It gives fast clear, but with one W you can clear the little monsters and isolate the big one by the time you get this, so this will not improve your clear by that much.
  • You can get sustain with it, if you want that then 3812.png is much better than this by a very large margin.
  • You can add burst to your usual combo, other items giving armor penetration can make up for it and don't have a cooldown.
  • The 3077.png gives you a huge powerspike! Yeah of course it does, and its one of the reasons you should build this item, because you know you need the power spike.
  • You can isolate people with W and Tiamat! Yeah its a amazing feature to have as well and one of its pros.

So when exactly should 3077.png be built? When you need both the power spike at lvl 8-9 or you need to splitpush and you know no one can stop you.

3147.pngDUSKBLADE OF DRAKTHARR: 3250

Stats
+75 Attack Damage
+5% Movement Speed;
+10 Armor Pentration

UNIQUE Passive: Hitting an enemy Champion with a basic attack applies Nightfall to them [120 second CD];

Nightfall: After 2 seconds, the target is dealt 90 [+25% of Missing HP] physical damage. If you score a kill or an assist before Nightfall triggers, the passive’s cooldown is reset.

Description: After trying this item I understimated quite a bit, its pretty good when you know you can one shot someone to reset the item passive which is pretty amazing for duelings. This item is HUGE when snowballing, but not only that IF YOU KNOW you can one shot someone (before Nightfall) the Passive resets this means you don't need to wait for the full two minutes CD of the item everytime you auto attack someone, so you can choose your target more carefully and its a item to secure a kill on the carry after a full combo.

3812.pngDEATHS DANCE: 3500

Stats
+75 attack damage
+10% cooldown reduction
Passive
Unique: Instantly heal for 15% of all physical damage dealt. Area of effect physical damage only heals 5% for every unit affected.
Unique: Stores 15% of all physical and magic damage received, and is taken as a damage over time instead, dealing one-third of the stored damage every second.

Description: This is one of my favorite item for Kha'zix! This is what I love building on him, this item is made for him, this makes him nearly unkillable! I'm really hyped for this item because the damage Kha'zix does is single target with his Q and this item gives him such a huge sustain and when people think they can kill you, they're for a big surprise when you're nearly dead and one Q is enough to heal a bit and then finish them off it gives such a satisfying feeling plus it enhances your W healing as well giving you tremendous sustain, the only reason you want 3074.png over this is for the wave clear and you know you be splitpushing or you need the 3077.png power spike.

I need to add even though I love this item on him, its situational as well, sometimes you need to kill someone really fast and more damage from items like 3142.png helps him more in certain situations, also not always you will need the sustain but rather more damage to one shot people, a decent build with Black Cleaver and Deaths Dance is really good.

3142.pngY. GHOSTBLADE: 3200

Stats
+60 attack damage
+10% cooldown reduction
Passive
Unique: +20 armor penetration
Active
Unique: Gain +40% attack speed and +20% movement speed for 6 seconds. 45 second cooldown.

Description: One of the BEST finished item for Kha'zix, boosting 60 AD, 10% CDR and 20 FLAT Armor Penetration, those stats alone are worth the price, with this you get a really high burst potential on almost anyone not building armor at that point, remember FLAT ARMOR PENETRATION IS MORE EFFECTIVE THE LESS ARMOR YOUR TARGET HAS, so the earlier you get this item the more benefitial it is. You want to build this item if the enemy team doesn't have tanks since the passive alone can help you snowball against them (before they get a lot of armor) or you need one more damage item after other ones that need more priority. As I said so many times itemization is situational, as amazing as item is I can't tell you to go for this every game since Kha'zix needs something different every game.

3036.png

Stats
Passive
Unique – Giant Slayer: Grants up to +15% bonus physical damage against enemy champions with greater maximum health than you (+1.5% damage per 50 health difference, maxing at 500 health difference).
Unique – Last Whisper: +45% Bonus Armor Penetration.

Description: The latest buffs to this item makes it pretty good for Kha'zix now, I build this or 3033.png every game as third item or even second IF they have tanks (which is quite often), you might think why +10 is such a big deal, well remember Kha'zix Bonus AD ratios are pretty high so those +10 AD matters a lot to him and this takes away one of his biggest weakness away, which is dealing with tanks without losing pressure on squishies. The way you build this item should be, if they have tanks with mostly Armor then go for 3035.png, if they have tanks with a lot of HP then 3034.png is a better buy then and after that you finish the item.
3033.png
Stats
Passive
Unique – Executioner: Physical damage inflicts Grievous Wounds icon Grievous Wounds on enemy champions for 5 seconds.
Unique – Last Whisper: +45% Bonus armor penetration.

Description: As I said earlier you should choose between this or 3036.png, its a pretty easy choice, if they have a 50.png, 8.png, 19.png, 9.png (build just 3123.png for him), 36.png, etc, then this item is pretty much the one you want to build. As I said earlier choose 3035.png if they build Armor or 3123.png if they're reliant on self healing. I find myself building this item much more because of the meta right now and with the buff to the item it makes Kha'zix stronger.

ITEMIZATION FLOW CHART:

Choose one of these:

1400.png1408.png1412.png

  • - Take Green if you're going to farm and you're facing a very aggresive jungler who you can't defeat 1 vs 1 like Shaco or someone like Zac and you need to ward their jungle so you can predict where they be and warn your team.
  • - Take Red if you're going to duel someone like Irelia, Jax, Nasus, Vayne, Zed or any other assasin you know will come for you. The damage reduction and extra damage you get is very sweet, I love building this smite on almost every game now.
  • - Take Blue when they don't have neither an assasin or aggresive jungler and you want to one shot people or need extra CC for your ganks.

Ask yourself these questions for your second item:

Do they have two or more tanks? - NO -> Can you kill the carries and one shot them? -NO-> Probably dueling or behind.

Ask yourself these questions for your third item:

Can you still one shot someone? -NO-> You find yourself dueling a lot? -NO-> Their tanks are getting annoying?

Ask yourself these questions for your final item:

Do you need MORE damage? -NO-> They have a special ultimate for you?    -NO   -> You need to splitpush?

Remember this is only a example to show you how to build a item in which circunstance, I generally don't take 3077.png unless I know before hand I be splitpushing this game and you can always get items like 3139.png or 3078.png or 3071.png sooner than I said, it depends on what you need and if you're snowballing or need the 3140.png active for a stun Tibbers or a Lissandra ultimate. But something I've been doing recently with success is getting 3033.png or 3036.png as a second item against tanks, making them useless against me, and if those tanks love to duel I take 3812.png with 1412.png, this makes it so that no Bruiser can duel me.

ITEM SETS:

Lets review some item set I generally take on different situations. It'll be the first three items since it would be a long list if I take on every possible item choice.

  1. The Dueling Set [1412.png3036.pngor 3033.png3812.png] : This is when facing a tanky champion who can 1 vs 1 people like 122.png, 75.png, 2.png, 24.png, 39.png, 36.png, 48.png, etc, I take Mortal Reminder if the enemy has a lot of lifesteal and won't be that tanky like Jax or Irelia, while Lord Dominiks is for pure tank champions who love building first item 3025.png or 3068.png.
  2. The Snowball Harder Set [1400.png3147.png3078.png] : This is for when I'm really fed and want to keep it that way, Duskblade makes me kill anyone early game while Trinity gives me everything I want plus a harder burst with the 3057.png + khazixpassive.png damage which early game is quite brutal.
  3. The Magic Slayer Build [1400.png3123.png3156.png3033.png] : This is when they have a triple AP composition, today META revolves towards the Swain and Vladimir Top where their Spellvamp can get really troublesome so I take Executioner second item to deal with that and kill them faster and then Maw to survive the AOE damage from the rest of mages, you can finish Mortal Reminder later if they don't have Armor.
  4. The FULL AD Slayer Set [1412.png3077.png3142.png3742.png] : This is only if they have a FULL AD composition, it makes you quite strong against them, if they have a Yasuo then go for 3143.png instead, I don't like building tank on Khazix but in this case it works really great so they don't kill you. Take 3812.png after or instead of 3077.png because a FULL AD comp is composed mostly of Assasins that likes to duel.
  5. Another Day Another Slaughter [1408.png3142.png3036.png3812.png3026.png] : A tipical build when facing a balanced composition of Tank top, Aggresive Jungler, AP mid, ADC and a Mage Support. I get Youmuu which makes me strong and then Lords Dominik for the tanks, then Deaths Dance so I can duel people since the Mage Support will be peeling (can't one shot carry then) and the Guardian Angel because I be dying to kill the ADC. If the Tank top is useless then ignore 3036.png and get 3078.png or 3147.png, or if you don't need the sustain from Deaths Dance get either of those two items instead.
  6. My most used build The Full Armor Penetration [1412.png3142.png3147.png3156.png3026.png] :This build makes me very easy to one shot people, you need to find people isolated abusing vision control and waiting for big waves to ambush the carry, this is a full Armor Penetration build, glass cannon and its the way Khazix is ment to be played abusing his high bonus AD scaling.
Hope you can understand not the item choice per se, but mostly the mindset of choosing them, why I do it and when, if there is something I want for you to learn is that every game is different and that means a different item build depending on whats happening.

Remember you can replace 3009.png with 3047.png3111.png  or 3117.png depending on what you need. If they have a lot of Marksman champions like Graves, Kindred, Quinn, who generally goes to every lane, Tabi is a great option while Mercury is for when they have situational CC and Mobility is awesome when you're snowballing or feel you need to put your pressence more often in the map.

VS

Aatrox

Medium

Either in top or jungle he is a real pain to deal with, generally its a battle of sustain top lane, take ignite to face his sustain and a early 3123.png helps a lot here.

VS

Ahri

Medium

Not that hard, if she ever waste her charm then destroy her in lane if not then just aim to farm, take flash ignite. Getting Mercurial second if her target is you is a good choice.

VS

Amumu

Medium

He is quite a pain to deal with not in a 1 vs 1 scenario but in a team fight he brings so much with his ult and his W tear your team apart especially if he's using Liandrys. Try to read his movement in the jungle and counter his engage with counter ganks, he has good burst so if he fails his bandage then kill him.

VS

Anivia

Hard

A freaking pain to deal with, she is mana gated early so try to bring momentum getting level 2 early and jumping on her, having SRS is great because of the slow reduction, don't let her bully you or you will have a bad time. Post 6 she will hard push you, if she takes Tear she is easy target, if she gets Catalyst the same, but her burst is quite high so be careful, aim to farm.

VS

Annie

Medium

She can really bully you but she has a lack of mobility that you can easy take care of if she spends her stun, if she does kill her, but be aware of a bait by her and the jungler. Post 6 don't even try to jump on her, the overall burst is something that destroys you.

VS

Azir

Easy

He can bully you but honestly the Azirs I've faced weren't that challenging, if he uses his soldiers to harass you them jump on him, post 6 your damage is quite high so don't be afraid of making him use his ult on you. I generally build Ghostblade since the Maw isn't needed against him.

VS

Brand

Hard

This is a battle of CD's its his weakness along with his mobility issues, he scales a lot with items so if you want to kill him it better be after he spend his CD and not hit you, then you go for him.

VS

Cassiopeia

Hard

This is a really hard match up pre 6 if she plays smart, try to play passive and call your jungler, she lacks mobility and loves to push, its a jungler dream target, unless you have a Yi.

VS

Cho'Gath

Easy

I thought he was hard but in both top and mid I found him really easy, he relies a lot on snowballing, his CDs are high so take advantge of that. Your W gives you good sustain, try to duel him if he's poked down, if you waste his Q then he is easy prey.

VS

Darius

Hard

This is a go hard or go home match up for me, I go full AD runes and take full armor runes and start long sword with 3 pots, then bully him from level 1 with the bush, use Q-AA to proc passive and keep doing it till he respects you, don't play afraid or he will take over this matchup really easy, I've faced him a lot and only one beat me in lane. Post 6 just poke him with W, push and roam.

VS

Diana

Hard

She is a antiassasin and its a pretty hard matchup, in this case keep your lane freezed or let her push on you and tell your jungler to come and kill her, generally you push her into her tower but her lack of mobility pre 6 is her doom in this match up, if your jungler can't help you then just farm undertower.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Medium

Kill him early game or else he will destroy you post 6. Get Executioner Calling in this match up.

VS

Ekko

Hard

His damn Q has a really short CD and can push you into your tower like crazy, in this case I try to kill him level 2, with Q and E you can bring him down a lot. Post 6 don't bother fighting him, just push your lane and roam.

VS

Elise

Medium

Early game if she lands her E on you jump away unless there is someone who can help you, if she fails it kill her. The key is to counter gank her, if she spends her cooldowns then its easy to kill her since she is a bursty champion. Mid game she plays more as a CC tank with Echoes into Rilay and tank, your job is to kill the carries but in this stage she is not that tanky, which means its easy to kill her as Khazix.

VS

Evelynn

Hard

A real pain in the arse champion, her invicibility status is really annoying, in this match up I suggest taking 1408.png and ward her Raptor and Wolfs camp so you can counter gank her, her E has a long CD so if she goes ham then counter gank her. Mid game duel her if you have Maw completed.

VS

Fiora

Hard

She is really strong this patch, I suggest killing her early game, use your Q-AA passive to hit her hard remember you have more sustain with W than her although she might take Grasp of the Undying mastery, post 6 don't take extended trades, push your lane and roam, its the best way to deal with this match up.

VS

Fizz

Medium

Quite easy honestly try the same Q-AA passive, go to fog of war and repeat, you will have more sustain as usual and given his weak early game try to kill him, post 6 you should get Hex Drinker first item so he doesn't burst you, play the poking game and when he's low then all in, his wave clear is poor so take advantage of that.

VS

Galio

Medium

He's not as easy as it seems he can be pretty annyoing, just farm this lane and play the pushing game till your jungler comes, roaming is the key.

VS

Gangplank

Hard

Quite hard to deal with, you can't all in him because his trading is quite strong thanks to his passive, aim to just farm this lane and when you complete Ghostblade, then all in him when his barrel are on cooldown.

VS

Garen

Medium

They key is to kite, he will want to all in you all the time so don't be afraid to trade back and use your mastery to get a boost of movement speed to back off, post 6 he gets tanky and a bit hard to deal with, don't 1 vs 1 him instead wait for your jungler and/or try to roam.

VS

Gnar

Easy

Too easy of a match up, get E at lvl 2 and all in him, everytime its off cooldown go for him hard, try to keep your lane freezed. Post 6 its the same you can kill him whenever you want.

VS

Gragas

Medium

He's a strong dueler in the early game and brings a lot of utility and frontline to his team, so to deal with him counter gank him and find him alone to get a kill. Post 6 and in team fights wait till he spends all his CC and go the carry, but if he's smart then he will wait for you and peel them, if he does this then just hit the lowest target instead then switch to another target, when his spells are on cooldown go for the carry.

VS

Graves

Hard

Its no wonder why he's a popular and contested jungler, his clears are very healthy and quick plus he has a huge amount of burst, so he isn't easy to 1 vs 1, also he tends to buy Sterak so he's a pretty big counter to you, the key is to let him spend his burst, then he's a sitting duck easy to kill.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

The pony has seen better days, not much to say, either in the top or in the jungle he is easy for Kha'zix, play him as usual and you will have no problem.

VS

Heimerdinger

Hard

Fuck this guy.

VS

Illaoi

Hard

Don't have much experience against her, but I've faced like three going full AD with Deaths Dance and it was crazy strong.

VS

Irelia

Hard

You're her prefered target, she burst you down at lvl 6, has sustain, can cut off your engage, to deal with her you need to create momentum at lvl 2 with your all in, after that zone her off the minions and freeze your lane, this means don't use W unless you need to heal. Post 6 don't fight her, she will destroy you.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

Jarvan jungle is easy to deal with, make him spend his E-Q combo and quick death, plus his clears are very harsh so invading him is a good option to set him behind. Top/mid J4 is another story since he will poke with his Q you need to answer with the sustain of your W and jump on him when he doesn't have the Q, post 6 his burst is very high but you can jump out of his R.

VS

Jax

Medium

He's a very binary champion at times, if he get his E on you he will have the upperhand, so try make him waste his jump and burst by jumping away, he can do the same thing, he generally wants to farm his jungle and then gank when its easy to get kills, something like what Kha'zix does.

On lane the idea is to abuse his lack of sustain and with max-evolve W you can outsustian him early and snowball from there, don't let him jump on you everytime he gets the chance, punish him since this takes away a lot of his mana pool.

VS

Kindred

Medium

She builds squishy so mid-late game she isn't that hard to kill, bait her ult and with your mobility you can outplay her, lets say you jump and land everything she activates ult, then you use yours and go back, then back in and kill him, use Ghostblade effectively here. Early game she is very strong so fight her only if she have a spell on cooldown.

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

If he's good he will search for you in your jungle early game, for him I suggest starting on the buff opposite of where you think he will go, for instance if you're red side, then he's blue side, so he will go Red and invade your blue buff and kill you, so smite gromp and start blue, because if you start krugs he can still steal your camp and you're not fast enough to do the same. After this keep farming until you're 6 and ward his jungle so you can know where he is, sometimes he ganks more than he farms, so counter jungling him if you see him at another lane is good if he didn't tax, this will make him starve.

For dueling him, avoid the Q if he hits you, DON'T JUMP YET, when activates it and reach you use W-E and then use R and duel him, the CD of his Q is high so take advantage of that.

VS

Master Yi

Medium

After the nerfs he's more managable because he was a real nightmare since he burst/sustain you faster that you burst him, for him I suggest taking a aggresive early game approach and try to snowball your lanes before he has a chance to do anything OR just counter jungle him, ward it and hunt him after he waste his Q on a jungle creep. Post 6 try not to duel him, rather bait his Q with your team mates and then go for him.

VS

Nidalee

Medium

This champion was hit quite hard after the nerfs and her clearing should be quite diminished now, so you can farm safer now, but she can still invade you early so ward properly. Post 6 she is very easy to kill.

Introduction. Back to Top

Welcome to my Kha'zix jungle guide for season 6, my username is Radinax and my smurf name is xfyrionx:

http://lan.op.gg/summoner/userName=Radinax
http://lan.op.gg/summoner/userName=xfyrionx

Kha'zix is a really amazing champion that people seems to judge because they can't slam their face in the keyboard and get a penta, well when he was OP you could certainly do it because when he was played he was really strong, but now in this season the meta changed for him, especially for the rework of Last Wishper his most core item and the one that gave him such a huge powerspike, this made people to start playing him the same way and keep failing and call him trash, well I'm here to tell you how Kha'zix is supposed to be played.

One word I want you to associate Kha'zix with is:

VERSATILITY

This means when he says "CONSUME AND ADAPT" he means it, he can be played with all short of builds and playstyle, its one of the reasons I love playing him so much and never get tired is because every game is different, sometimes I want to go very aggresive early, sometimes I want to go passive, on my build sometimes I go full Assasin, other times I go more bruiser-initiator style, plus his evolutions you can take evolve E or evolve Q at level 6, depending on what my team needs from me.

So in this guide I will show you in which ways you can help your team and how Kha'zix can be played in almost any team composition.

I hope you enjoy.

How to play Kha'zix. Back to Top

PLAYSTYLE

I generally have two different playstyles when playing Kha'zix, the farm until 6, where I start 1039.png and go Krugs11.png, Raptors, RED BUFF11.png, Wolves, BLUE BUFF, Gromp, go back and buy jungle item, do a full clear, back again and buy two long swords, sell jungle pot and get boots, buy one potion, clear one more camp and you're level 6. My other playstyle is when I'm going for a fast level 3, I go Krugs/Gromp->Buff->Buff then gank over and over, for this I need you to take kills OR tax, if you took the kill just push the lane but leave the CS to your laner, if the laner took the kill then TAX him, if he cries mute him/her you need gold to be effective for the mid game, you're doing nothing if you're just ganking and not getting any gold from it besides a mere assist.

When you're level 6 fun start, gank the easiest lane for you, or counter gank, Kha'zix deals ridiculous damage when Isolated and bot has a lot of bushes he can use to proc his passive and win most 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2, only all in when you're sure your killing someone, wait till they commit hard and then go and punish them.

Keep vision control as well, he is an assasin, he needs vision, deny their raptors, buy pinks, sweeper when winning, smite your raptor always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, I still cringe when I see a high elo player streaming and he has to jungle and don't smite the raptor, like what are we doing? Thats a free oracle that tells where the ward is, ITS FREAKING OP, thats why you should deny then enemy their raptor as well, this gives you a huge lead in vision terms, i cannot stress this enough.

Also something to notice, if your team is smart and you first pick Kha'zix, they won't go Sona support and Master Yi top, because thats almost gg if their team is as good as yours, Kha'zix can hard carry if he has someone to initiate for him, having no CC makes the game a bit hard, but you can still build to intiate for your team going with Black Cleaver second into a more tanky setup.

In team fights be calm, keep a list in your head as to what CC the enemy has to blow for you to kill someone, Kha'zix can burst people even if not isolated, its very easy with all his burst or at least if you're going a bruiser style then you can keep the ADC focused on you. Keep in mind if you can't kill their squishies for whatever reason then try to peel yours and when the opotunity arises then go for them.

When you snowball on Kha'zix, for instance you have like 4 kills at ten minutes, then stop farming and use your advantage to pressure other lanes over and over, if you can't then predict the jungler movements, put pinks in his jungle to find him and kill him, Kha'zix can duel almost anyone when ahead. Buy Swiftness boots along with DMP for insane map movements, his isolation damage is pretty strong with Black Cleaver and Warrior so going with more mobility is really good.

Finally the key to being a good Kha'zix is to be able to know when you can fight someone, if you know you can't kill the ADC then farm until you can do it, you need to have a list on your head about which CC they have so you can know when you can jump IN and OUT.

One thing I want you to remember is that Kha'zix scales very well with experience and gold, so he wants to farm a lot until he can snowball and then apply pressure all over the map.

HOW TO WIN A GAME AS A JUNGLER?

There has been cases where people tell you OBJECTIVES WINS GAMES, so they go for Baron, Dragons, kills, but this is for one reason DESTROYING THE NEXUS, and how you do it? DESTROYING THE TURRETS, so your priority as a jungler when you get a kill or have a lane thats winning, you can take Rift Herald and with the passive push down a turret fast, have it on the back of your mind when laying DESTROY THE TURRETS WIN THE GAME, this lets you get more vision and make the enemy to commit harder if they want the CS and clear vision, you can take them out and get more objectives this way, remember moving up your vision control, BUY PINKS AND SWEEPERS make the enemy see darkness on the minimap, VISION CONTROL IS CRUCIAL IF YOU WANT TO WIN GAMES.

Combos and general Mechanics Back to Top

The following Video is from a High Elo Khazix main called Tinjus, if you enjoyed please suscribe or like his video to support him.

Kha'zix Mechanics

In this video you'll learn all of Khazix different mechanics and combos, especially how to use 3077.png or khazixQ.png mid air, abuse the bush to reset your passive, how to make a fool of your enemy using your R, hope you enjoy it.

khazixQ.pngkhazixW.pngkhazixE.png khazixR.png         khazixpassive.png       3077.png        1400.png
Q      W     E      R     Apply Passive Tiamat Chilling Smite

1. Classic Combo: khazixE.png->khazixQ.png while mid air. This is used when you want a quick trade or when you have W on cooldown.

2. Standard Combo: khazixW.png->khazixE.png->khazixQ.png->khazixpassive.png. This is your standar pre 6 combo, it triggers Thunderlord's Decree and deals high damage.

3. Auto reset passive, khazixpassive.png->khazixR.png. Very important when using your ultimate, you auto attack and INMEDIATLY you use your ultimate to reset the auto animation.

4.Use bush to reset passive: khazixpassive.png->Walk into bush to reset passive.

5. Full Combo: khazixW.png->khazixE.png->khazixQ.png mid air->khazixpassive.png Auto attack Reset with khazixR.png->khazixpassive.png->khazixQ.png. You apply every knowledge learned previously and use it all on a full combo, it gets really easy when you practice it.

6. Double Jump: khazixE.png->khazixQ.png mid air-> khazixE.png FAST.
7. Double Jump 2: khazixW.png -> khazixE.png -> khazixE.png FAST.While W is traveling use your E and then when it gets the reset press E again to apply the double jump.
8. Double Jump 3: khazixE.png-> 3077.png ->khazixE.png FAST.
9. Double Jump 4: khazixE.png-> 1400.png-> khazixE.png FAST.
10. Juking: walk in one direction then khazixR.png-> walk while in invis in a different one.
11. Increase stealth time: khazixR.png into bushes to increase stealth time.

How to clear the jungle as Kha'zix

In this video made by Tinjus he explains how to clear the jungle the best way possible, I generally plan before hand who I be ganking and on that I decide which way to start, for example if I have a Renekton on top and I'm on blue side, I start Golems and work my way to top and gank for him.

Log. Back to Top

[25/02/2016]: Guide creation.
[27/02/2016]: Added more about how to play him when ahead.
[09/03/2016]: Changed the W evolve to Q once again in lane because Kha'zix is dependant on snowballing your lead and also added more on laning itemization.
[22/03/2016]: Added more in depth thoughs on the mastery, ability and items sections, everything has been updated and I removed lane Kha'zix information, less the match ups since I think its useful to know how to face those match ups if you want to try him top or mid, but I need more experience before I can make more accurate comments on lane Kha'zix. Need to add more information on the combos and more descriptions for items.
[28/03/2016] FInished the item, mastery and rune section, only need to end the match ups and add a combo section.
[15/04/2016] Added more on the items section.

[02/06/2016] I added more info on Duskblade's importance and the benefits of 3078.png when snowballing, plus the new update makes the item much better for Khazix.
[18/06/2016] I pretty much neglected 3071.png from my build thanks to the 3033.png and 3036.png buffs and updated my item set, this makes Kha'zix deal with the meta champions easier without losing pressure on squishy champions.
[05/07/2016] Included a Itemization Flow Chart and updated my builds. Going to include special videos later.
[11/07/2016] I added a new combo section and updated the "How to play" section.
[07/08/2016] Updated my thoughts on the mastery section, plus the importance of Red Smite with Khazix.
[12/08/2016] Updated the guide with my smurf IGN to reflect my games on Khazix as there is where I play him the most.
