Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Flash:

This Summoner Spell is a must on Kog'Maw, since he no mobility. His only "escape" can be done by using his E kogmawvoidooze.png to slow the enemy down. Therefor you need to rely on the CC or buffs of your Support. So you better dont aggressive flash for a kill, you can only do it in the early game when you know there is no jungler, mid- or top-laner coming to gank.

7.png Heal:

This spell is the most dominant spell besides Flash4.png on the ADCs. It gives you back some health and a little speedbuff to get out of sticky situations. It can give you some time to deal a bit more damage so that the lifesteal is doing the rest. An option would be Barrier21.png since it is not affected by Grievous Wounds, but i dont recommend using it on Kog'Maw.

3.png Exhaust:

Exhaust can be a good option to 1v1 an enemy even a tank after the armor and magicresistence reduction of it and your Qkogmawcausticspittle.png, plus you have great Max/CurrentHealth Damage from Wkogmawbioarcanebarrage.png and 3153.png. But you lack on utility and you can bursted down more easily if cant manage exhausting the assassin in time.

Masteries Back to Top

Ferocity Tree

fury_mastery.png Fury

We are ADC. We AUTO-ATTACK a lot more than every other ADC and to boost Wkogmawbioarcanebarrage.png more.

ATTACK SPEED > SPELL DAMAGE.

feast_mastery.png Feast

20 health for a minion kill is a very noteworthy amount. Though this mastery is on a long 30-second cooldown, you still should be getting 40 health a minute from Feast alone. In terms of masteries, this is significant enough to be good. The alternative masteries are not helping in sustain, damage and/or defense.

vapirism.png Vampirism

The free life steal is super good and helps in lane. Along with the 3% life steal you get from a Doran's Blade start, you'll be sitting at a nice 5% life steal in lane. Couple this with the Feast mastery and you will be getting a decent amount of sustain that will make a noticeable difference in the laning phase. The alternative Natrual Talent is also a good choice for Kog'Maw ssince he profits from AD and AP.

bounty_hunter.png Bounty Hunter/Oppressor evasive_mastery_s4.jpg

Oppressor would be the better option in lane while your Support provides the CC or your own Ekogmawvoidooze.png. If you manage to kill both, ADC and Support, you get only 2% damage boost, but late game you should get at least 4 unique kills.

armor_pen.png Battering Blows

You're AD. You want armorpenetration, not magicpenetration and the focus on this guide is an AD.

fervor.png Fervor of Battle

Because the Wkogmawbioarcanebarrage.png gives a lot of attackspeed, this mastery is a must on Kog'Maw.

Cunning Tree

butcher.png Savagery

Helps you last hit. The alternative Wanderer grants little to nothing as an ADC. The only thing Wanderer gives is movement speed. Since we don't do much roaming and are in combat most of the time anyway, Savagery is the better choice here.

culinary_master.png Secret Stash

The reason we take this is because its alternative, Runic Affinity, is nearly useless to us. As an ADC, the only time we reliably get a buff is red buff in the mid to late game. While red buff is VERY useful to an ADC, we just don't have it often and reliably enough to take Runic Affinity. Runic Affinity also only increases your buff timer from 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 24 seconds. It's just not significant enough to justify taking it. Biscuits, on the other hand, are always used. You buy potions every game, and making them more effective is pretty nice. Also Assassin is not an option, because in lane you have the Support and in teamfights the Midlaner and Supportnext to you.

executioner_mastery_s4.jpg Merciless

This mastery is the reason we go down this tree. Formerly known as "Executioner" in the Offensive Mastery Tree, Merciless grants additional damage to targets who are below 40% health. You'd be surprised how often you're hitting people who are already low from your teammates' attacks during team fights--doing 5% increased damage to them is very noticeable. Plus your Rkogmawlivingartillery.png is going to more insane amount of damage when the enemy is below 25% health. The alternative, Meditation, is good, but not good enough. We want DAMAGE, and you should be able to manage your mana with the items.

dangerous_game.png Dangerous Game

Another good one. This mastery has saved me countless times and I'm sure it's saved you as well. It's especially great for saving you from damage over time abilities, such as the enemy ignite. The alternative, Bandit, is useless to you. You're the ADC. These are YOUR minions, and you don't want a mastery designed for supports with no money.

kogmawpassive.png  Icathian Suprise:

There could be a better Passive for Kog'Maw, but getting a counterkill isnt the worst thing. You kill or get summoner spells from the enemy ADC or if you see that you cant get a kill, then aim for the minions to get at least some farm and push a bit. In teamfights it is hard to notice, if there is a bomb walking towards the enemy backline.

kogmawcausticspittle.png Caustic Spittle:

Reducing the armor and magicresistance is very good against the tanks at the late game. Early game it is just there to lasthit two minions at the same time.

kogmawbioarcanebarrage.png Bio-Arcane Barrage:

Probably one of the best abilities in the game. Dealing MaxHealth magic damage with doubled attackspeed. Use it wisely because you must get the maximum of attacks while this ability is active to deal an insane amouns of damage.

kogmawvoidooze.png  Void Ooze:

This ability is the only "escape" of Kog'Maw. I recommend using this ability defensively instead of offensively. No spamming in lane with its high mana cost and cooldown and you are fine.

kogmawlivingartillery.png Living Artillery:

Dont use this ability as a poke tool since is does nothing when the enemy is not below 50% health. That is why this should be aimed for the low backline. Also you need to do some predictions and know where your victim is going to. Since this is more Mana heavy guide, you can use the use this ultimate more often in fights. Even though you should not over do it...

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Doran's Blade: Take it if you are faceing a more poke-heavy composition at botlane. Cull: If you are more save with your support against the enemy botlane.

Core Items

If you go your first time back, you should buy at least one of these three item.
Get this one early game to get a little powerspike.
As second and third item you need these two items. One for sustain and the other to get back the mana from Muramana and some nice Critical Hits.
One of these two to provide some waveclear and damage. Statikk Shiv over Runaan's Hurricane if your team have enough waveclear.
Get one of these... Sterak's Gage > Maw of Malmortius > Mercurial Scimitar/Guardian Angel Get the item, which is the best to "counter" the enemy. Mercurial is 3rd Place, because of its nerf. (Zed Ultimate)
Late Game, it should look like that.

Situational Items

Berserker's Greaves to get more attackspeed. Boots of Swiftness to get a bit more mobility.
