Summoner Spells Back to Top

Hi there, my summoner name is legitimate. I play on the NA server. I have been playing LeBlanc since season 4 and probably have around 300-400 games played with her since then. So why would you play LeBlanc? She is an AP mage with high burst and high mobility. She has great outplay potential and takes a lot of skill to play correctly. She is extremely snowbally and can carry games super hard. There is nothing more annoying to play against than a fed LeBlanc.  So here is my guide to playing LeBlanc!

I run 4.png and14.png99% of the time. Flash is the most important summoner spell in the game and has great utility with LeBlanc's kit. I take ignite since LeBlanc is a champion that needs kills to be able to snowball and ignite will give you a lot of kill pressure in lane.

With a lot of other mid lane champions taking 12.png as their summoner spell, I can see this being viable. If you want to counter gank or set up 4-5 man bot ganks with your team, taking 12.png might be a good idea. With Dynamic Queue forcing players to work together and making more coordinated team plays, TP will help you make those plays.

Masteries Back to Top

This mastery setup is pretty standard for most AP mages. I like to go 12-18-0 because the cunning tree has a lot of great masteries. Thunderlords is the best keystone for LeBlanc because its super easy for her proc and synergizes super well with her high burst kit. I take Savagery because last hitting is hard for AP champs and being able to farm well is super important. Secret Stash was recently nerfed but its still the best mastery in that slot to run. Merciless is pretty self explanatory for playing any kind of assassin type champ. Dangerous game can save your life and precision helps provide the damage you need. For the ferocity tree, I take feast because its super good for laning. There isn't that much of a difference between vampirism and natural talent in my opinion. The whole tier is pretty worthless but I'd take vampirism since natural talent's ap is pretty low. I like to take oppressor because it works with your chain and is a lot more consistent than bounty hunter.

The standard leveling order of your skills should be: R>W>Q>E

LeBlanc's passive is Mirror Image which has a 60 second cd.

Mirror Image:leblancpassive.png

When LeBlanc is below 40% maximum health, she periodically creates a controllable clone of herself for 8 seconds with 70 - 359 (based on level) less health. She and her clone then become stealthed for 1 second upon its creation.

This passive is extremely useful. It could block projectiles for you or help you scout enemies or you can even do some fancy jukes while playing around with cds. You control the clone by using the ALT key.

Moving on we have Leblanc's Q which is called Sigil of Malice

Sigil of Malice: leblancchaosorb.png

Active: LeBlanc deals magic damage to the target enemy and marks them for 3.5 seconds.

 Magic Damage: 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 / 155 (+ 40% AP)

LeBlanc's abilities consume the mark if they damage the target, dealing the same magic damage again.

A lot of the time you will use this ability to start off a quick combo to trade in lane or for your R to mimic for burst/poke. You can also use this spell to cs with since csing with LeBlanc can be hard at time underneath tower or if you are getting zoned. However, if you do end up csing with Q, watch your mana pool because csing with Q relieves a lot of pressure off your laning opponent.

Lets move onto LeBlanc's W

leblancslide.png

Distortion

RANGE: 600 / 250

SPEED: 1450

COST: 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / 100 mana

COOLDOWN: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10

Distortion

First Cast: LeBlanc dashes to the target location, damaging all nearby enemies upon arrival and leaving behind a return pad for 4 seconds, during which she can activate Distortion again at no additional cost.

Magic Damage: 85 / 125 / 165 / 205 / 245 (+ 60% AP)

Distortion 2

Second Cast: LeBlanc blinks to Distortion's return pad.

This spell is the best spell to max since it gives you waveclear and great roaming potential. This spell makes LeBlanc extremely mobile and difficult to gank in mid. This skill also lets you do the poking combo with W-Q-R or a far range assassination combo W-Q-R-E. The most important part of playing LeBlanc is paying attention to where you use your distortion from and try to position yourself in angles where you can kill the enemy but the enemy can't retaliate.

For LeBlanc's E Ethereal Chains

leblancsoulshackle.png

RANGE: 950 / 1000 / 55

SPEED: 1750

COST: 80 mana COOLDOWN: 14 / 12.5 / 11 / 9.5 / 8

Ethereal Chains

Active: LeBlanc flings illusory chains in a line, dealing magic damage to the first enemy they hit and tethering herself to them 1.5 seconds, Slow icon slowing her target by 25% while the tether persists.

[Initial Magic Damage: 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 (+ 50% AP)

If the target does not break the tether by moving out of range, they are Root icon rooted for 1.5 seconds and dealt the same magic damage.

This spell is LeBlanc's only form of CC. This spell is a skillshot and can be very deadly if landed. This spell can set up ganks really easily and can be used for assassination combos. I usually like taking this spell at lv3 because I like to set up early ganks with my jungler and begin the snowballing. This spell singlehandedly makes LeBlanc one of the most ideal champs to gank for.

Finally we have LeBlanc's ultimate

Mimic  leblancmimic.png

COOLDOWN: 40 / 32 / 24

Active: LeBlanc casts a mimicked version of her most recently used basic ability, applying the same effects and dealing modified magic damage.

[ Mimic- Sigil of Malice Mimic: Sigil of Malice and Mimic- Ethereal Chains Mimic: Ethereal Chains Magic Damage: 100 / 200 / 300 (+ 60% AP)

Mimic- Distortion Mimic: Distortion Magic Damage: 150 / 300 / 450 (+ 90% AP)

This ultimate ability copies the previous spell that you used. For example if you just used your Q, your R will become your Q. This is an extremely versatile spell and can be used in various ways. If you want to keep an opponent locked down, you can use your E then your R to keep them rooted. If you want to throw out some poke you can use Q-R combo. Since your W is an AOE spell, you can try to mimic your W in a teamfight for huge amounts of damage or to clear creep waves super fast. Knowing your limits on LeBlanc will be key to using this spell effectively. Also note that this spell COSTS 0 MANA and the CD goes down a significant amount every time you level it up.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

This is the standard start for LeBlanc mid. You want to start Doran's ring since it provides mana regen and some hp. I've tried starting corrupting potion but it doesn't provide any ap so I wouldn't recommend starting it. I've also tried dark seal but it doesn't give mana regen which sucks because if you try to use a full combo for a gank or an attempt to kill, you will most likely be oom.

Core Items

If you are vs an AP mage MID, an AP champ in TOP and AP champ in JG, you want to rush abyssal. It will give you the necessary magic resist to survive and give you a decent amount of AP. In patch 6.9, they made abyssal give cdr which is pretty useful for LeBlanc. I tend to get Abyssal first when laning vs champs like Annie, Fizz, Ryze, Lissandra since those champs can lock LeBlanc down pretty easily and burst her.
If the enemy team just has like 1 or 2 ap source of damage, I would just rush morellos unless they have one of those champs I mentioned earlier. Morello is usually the best item to rush on LeBlanc since it gives you mana and a ton of ap. Once you finish your Morellos, you want to start building towards Rabadon's death cap. This item gives LeBlanc a huge spike and you will be able to one shot almost any squishy champion with it. Next item is Void Staff, if the enemy team is getting a lot of magic resist I would recommend getting void staff for the magic penetration. Always press tab and look at what your opponent is building. LeBlanc's worst nightmares are banshees veil and hexdrinkers so be aware of those items if your opponent is building it. Sometimes, I will go abyssal--->Morello-->void, this will give me a lot of damage and its better if the enemy team has magic resist.
Finally, lets talk about the last slot. I will usually go for ludens as my last item since I want to do the most damage possible and know I can position well in teamfights. However, if you are starting out on LeBlanc, I would recommend zhonyas because it gives you a lot of ways to escape if you position poorly or if you are waiting for cds. If you are vs ad assassins such as zed/talon/yasuo/pantheon, I would recommend rushing seekers armguard asap and build early zhonyas or you will be super easy for those champs to kill.
I like to go Sorc Boots because the magic pen is really nice and I feel like cdr boots aren't worth it anymore after the cost increased by 100g and Abyssal/Zhonya have cdr now

Situational Items

ONLY GET THIS ITEM IF YOU ARE SUPER FED EARLY LIKE 5-0 AT 6 MINS. BE CAREFUL OF DYING BECAUSE LOSING YOUR STACKS COULD THROW AWAY YOUR LEAD.
I ONLY GET THIS ITEM WHEN THE ENEMY TEAM HAS CHAMPS LIKE WARWICK/MALAZHAR. SOMETIMES THEY WILL TRY TO FOCUS YOU AND IF THE ENEMY TEAM FOLLOWS UP, YOU ARE MOST LIKELY DEAD.
I ALMOST NEVER BUILD THIS ITEM ON LEBLANC. LEBLANC IS A BURSTY ASSASSIN AND IF YOU BUILD THIS ITEM YOU WILL TAKE AWAY AN ITEM SLOT THAT COULD BE USED TO BUILD LUDENS OR DEATHCAP WHICH IS NOT WORTH.

VS

Ahri

Easy

Difficulty rating 2/10

This matchup has gotten super easy since the nerf to Ahri's charm. Look to dodge her Q's true damage with your Distortion. Most Ahri's tend to push lane early since they want to harass with Q, so keep the lane to your side and farm safely. Look to set up ganks and all-in when the opportunities arise. Make sure to respect her lv6 because she can kill you if you are careless.

VS

Anivia

Easy

Difficulty rating 4/10

From my experience, it is pretty easy to kill Anivia because she is squishy and most Anivias build tear on their first back. Her Q is pretty easy to dodge since it is so slow so make sure you don't get hit by it. Try to keep the lane on your side and set up ganks since Anivia is very immobile. Try to coordinate with jungler to deny Anivia blues and this will be a super easy lane.

VS

Annie

Medium

Difficulty rating 5/10

A lot of people seem to think Annie is a counter to LeBlanc. From my perspective, I don't think a good LeBlanc should ever lose to Annie. For this matchup, pay close attention to her stun. I always rush double dorans and negatron for this matchup so I don't get oneshot from tibbers stun. I like to use W-R a lot in this matchup because you can bait out her tibbers and look for all-in afterwards. Use LeBlanc's mobility to your advantage and this should be an easy lane. Rush abyssal in this matchup.

VS

Azir

Easy

Difficulty rating 2/10

This matchup should be easy for LeBlanc. LeBlanc is a counter pick to Azir for a lot of reasons. She can set up ganks with her jungler really easily. At lv6, it is really easy to outplay Azir with your mimic distortions. Be aware that you can't distortion over his emperor's divide. If Azir pushes early and pokes with Q, the lane will most likely be on your side of the map, so ping your jungler to gank and it should be easy to snowball from then on.

VS

Brand

Medium

Difficulty rating N/A

I haven't played vs the new brand yet, but will update when I play this matchup more.

VS

Cassiopeia

Easy

Difficulty rating 2/10

This matchup should be easy for LeBlanc. Dodge her poison and since she is so immobile look to set up ganks with your jungler. She is a mana hungry champion so look for good trades early and you will win.

VS

Diana

Easy

Difficulty rating 4/10

In this matchup, you need to abuse your range advantage early and look for Q-W combos. Most Dianas from my experience will start W and push on you. Consider starting Q and bait out her shield. She is easy to gank so coordinate with your jungler. At lv6 be careful of getting hit by her Q, she will burst you super hard or even kill you if you misplay.

VS

Fizz

Medium

Difficulty rating 5/10

Fizz is a champion that is easy for LeBlanc to punish early on. Get E at lv3 for this matchup. At lv3, if you played the first 2 levels well, he should have 1 or 0 corrupting potion stacks left. It is really easy for you to deny him early on. If he tries to Q or E into you make sure you hit the chain and punish him super hard. At lv6 this matchup could get trickier if he manages to land the shark onto you. Watch out for fizz combo(Q onto minion into R). Don't waste your distortion because you will need it to outplay the shark or his E. Make sure to rush early negatron/abyssal for this matchup.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

Difficulty Rating 6/10

In my opinion, this champ is a pretty decent counter to LeBlanc. His Q can block a good portion of your early game damage and his passive gives him reduced magic damage. Since he is a melee champion, you can use Q-W pretty much anytime he walks up to cs. Try to bait his Q and win trades. At lv6 be aware of his burst and if he somehow gets fed, it will be super hard for you because he will just R into you and chunk you. You can win this matchup if you deny kass early and don't give him any free kills.

VS

LeBlanc

Hard

Difficulty 10/10

WHOEVER IS BETTER AT LEBLANC WILL WIN

VS

Lissandra

Hard

Difficulty 10/10

This matchup is extremely difficult. Her R can lock you down and keep you in place for her team to follow up. Her W can root you when you Distortion in. Be very quick in using Q-W trade in lane so you don't get screwed by her W. Don't take free poke from her Q. Extremely hard matchup. Consider taking cleanse for team fighting if you aren't confident.

VS

Lux

Medium

Difficulty 5/10

If lux starts E, use your W onto her and wait for her to detonate before coming back. Don't waste any mana trying poke when she uses her shield. Try to use your distortion in angles that will be difficult for her to land her Q. Don't ler her proc her passive on you or you will take a lot of damage. You can win this matchup easily as long as you don't get hit by her poke.

VS

Morgana

Medium

Difficulty 5/10

A classic LeBlanc counterpick. She can push you in with just using her W and her E can negate another attempts of landing a root. This lane will most likely end up in both you farming and seeing who can roam better. If she is good, you probably won't kill her. Look to get fed elsewhere.

VS

Orianna

Easy

Difficulty 3/10

Most Oriannas start E so I would try to Q in this matchup and look to bait her shield early. You can dodge her Q easily with distortion and she is pretty easy to gank as well so look to make plays with your jungler.

VS

Ryze

Medium

Difficulty 6/10

This matchup has gotten a lot harder with the recent AP items changes. Stand behind your creeps early so he can't harass you with his Q. Pay close attention to his stacks because he can 100-0 super easily. He will be super squishy early because his first back will probably be a tear rush. Rush abyssal and look to set up ganks since he is pretty immobile.

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

Difficulty 3/10

You should have the upper hand in this matchup. A lot of TF's these days are running TP so you can look to take advantage and all in him early on or at least force his tp. Late game TF can do a lot of damage you so be careful. Be aware of his stun if you ever distortion in.

VS

Veigar

Medium

Difficulty 6/10

You have the upper hand in this matchup pre 6. You can kill him easily if you harass and combo properly. The problem is that at lv6, he can one shot you with just a point and click R. If you ever get stunned by his cage, you will die post-6. Play with caution.

VS

Yasuo

Hard

Difficulty 7/10

Since I played this matchup both ways I have a lot of experience. I think a good yasuo player can pressure LeBlanc easily. It is super hard to W-R him if he has creeps to dash around. If you try to Q-R he can just block it with his windwall. His lv1 and 2 is super strong so stay back and look to farm. He is very fragile and gankable. Keep your farm up and coordinate ganks with your jungler.

VS

Zed

Hard

Difficulty 10/10

In my opinion, this is the hardest lane for LeBlanc. He is weak lv1 and 2 so punish him hard. His lv3 is when he will start harassing you.  The only way you win this matchup is by building a lead pre-6. Rush seekers armguard into Zhonyas. Your only option is to build a CS lead and look to outplay his all ins. Ask your jungler for assistance if you are getting pressured super hard by his W-E-Q poke combo. Zeds will often use that combo everytime its up so try to bait it and get a gank from your jungler.

Early Game Back to Top

For Level 1, the ideal trade is to auto the enemy --> W to last hit creeps and hit your opponent --> auto attack to proc thunderlords. Sometimes I start Q in matchups with champs that start shield like Orianna or Kassadin.

You will hit level 2 after 1 creep wave and 1 melee creep. You want to use your Q then follow up with a W onto the enemy champ and you will do tons of damage. Also pay attention to your thunderlords and when it is up so you can proc it as well.

At level 3, you have a decision either take an extra point in W or get E. Look at the minimap to see where your jungler is and see if he can gank. If you can set up a gank, get E and ping your jungler. But if you got some farming jungler or if your jungler is too low then just go for an extra point in W.

At levels 4 and 5 just focusing on farming well and harassing whenever you see good opportunities to do so. Be aware of enemy jungler because if you W forward you can push the lane and can be ganked easily.

Once you reach 6, you should be looking for opportunities for kills. Either poke your laner down and look for an all in or look to push with W-R and roam to other lanes. Since your ultimate has no cost and short cd, you should be using it basically every time it is up.

Mid Game Back to Top

When it comes to mid game, you should be fairly farmed and ask your jungler for blues so you can poke with Q-R and make plays around the map. It is EXTREMELY important that you know when your power spikes are. For example if you just finished morellos, you have a lot of ap damage so you can look for an assassination combo. As I mentioned earlier, also pay attention to your rank 2 and rank 3 ultimate because each rank is an incredible spike in LeBlanc's power.

ROAMING:

If you want to carry games, you need to able to give gold to your teammates. The best way to do this is to roam and help out your side lanes. With LeBlanc's W, it is really easy to invade with your jungler or plan 4 man dives bot lane. Doing this will help you snowball your lead and you can get fed and get objectives.

Skirmishes and Teamfights:

Don't get too greedy for assassinations. LeBlanc has a lot of utility as well as her burst. If you have an ADC getting beaten by a Sion or tryndamere, look to use ur chains for peeling. If you see good opportunities for flanks and safe assassinations with W-Q-R-E then capitalize on them. LeBlanc's mid game is extremely strong as long as you farmed decently and don't have like 50 cs at 20 min.

Late Game Back to Top

This is where it gets a little bit more difficult to carry. Late game LeBlanc is extremely dependent on how well you did in the mid game.

Heres a couple of scenarios from personal experience:

1. You are extremely fed and have almost 5-6 items and rank 3 in ultimate. You can pretty much look to assassinate any squishy champ in a teamfight.

2. You've fallen off because the enemy team has built a bunch of magic resist or they just have a bunch of tanky af champs(fuck this tank meta)

3. You are completely useless because you didn't farm well or just straight up fed

In the first case scenario, you definitely want to be an assassin in teamfights. Look for clutch W-R AOE combos in teamfights or look for picks in the jungle or from flanks.

In the second scenario, you want to look to kite back and peel for your adc because LeBlanc isn't that good of a tank killer. Look to play the role of a peeler.

I hope the third case scenario rarely occurs after this guide, but if you do end up in this situation. I want to first say DON'T TILT. I see a lot of players tilting because they fed super hard or they feel that they have to be the ones to carry no matter what. Put your ego aside and play to win. Know the fact that you fed can be completely nullified with one clutch teamfight that wins the game for your team. Keep your head up and try to peel for your teammates.

Combos Back to Top

Easy Combos:

leblancchaosorb.png  + leblancslide.png  This combo is probably the most commonly used for damage early game. Since you are maxing W, it will do tons of damage if you manage to land this combo.

leblancslide.png+leblancsoulshackle.png This combo is important to learn since it helps you set up ganks with your jungler. You can cover a large distance since you are using W as a gap closer and E has a decent amount of range.

leblancslide.png+leblancchaosorb.png+leblancmimic.png This is your main poking combo. You can use this combo to poke down your lane opponent and it will be hard for him to trade back. You can pretty much use this combo every 30 seconds so look to abuse it.

Advanced Combos:

leblancslide.png+leblancchaosorb.png+leblancmimic.png+leblancsoulshackle.png With this combo, you can pick off a squishy target from the fog of war really easily. The hardest part is being able to land your E so you can proc the R sigil.

leblancslide.png+leblancmimic.png+leblancsoulshackle.png+leblancchaosorb.png Use this combo if you are trying to chase someone down with your team, you can cover a large distance.

"Flashy Combos"

These combos are way more advanced and purely used in certain situations. There are so many combos that LeBlanc can use but these are some of my personal favorites.

leblancslide.png+leblancchaosorb.png+leblancmimic.png+4.png+leblancsoulshackle.png Sometimes you tried to W-Q-R but the enemy flashes away, you can flash+E to proc the mimic sigil and assassinate.

leblancslide.png+4.png+leblancmimic.png This combo can cover a large distance and can be used in a lot of situations. If you want to stay a safe distance and go in to pick off a low hp target, you can use this combo and press W to go back to the original location. You can also follow up the mimic distortion with an E if you want to root someone.

Conclusion Back to Top

I hope you enjoyed reading my LeBlanc guide.  LeBlanc is a champion that is super strong at the moment and a decent blind pick champion. Remember this champ will take a lot of practice to become good at. Try to play some normals with her and test your limits and then bring her to ranked. Hopefully with this guide you will be able to carry all the boosted animals in all your games!
