Ignite: More damage especially for your early all-ins and great against the current enchanter meta for supports.

Masteries Back to Top

Fury: More attack speed will help you put your fervor stacks to good use!

6123.png
Expose Weakness: Will increase the damage anyone else on your team is outputting! Overall great mastery for tanks or supports that are going down Ferocity tree.

6134.png
Natural Talent: Seeing as you aren't planning on sustaining in the early game but going aggro this is the optimal choice.

6143.png
Battle Trance: Once you hit in combat for 3 seconds this is the optimal choice for early game. No downsides unlike Double Edged Sword.

6151.png
Battering Blows: Physical damage is what you're outputting early so this is better for that early aggression fam.

6162.png
Fervor of Battle: Auto-Q-Auto equates to 6 stacks immediately, great option for the mega aggressive early game with which Ignar demolished SKT's botlane with.

6211.png
Recovery: A bit of health regen is nice for those early game trades.

6221.png
Explorer is a must for a roaming support, 15 extra movement speed is equivalent to a cloud drake!'

6232.png
Veteran Scars: Extra HP will suit your playstyle more and you have no way of naturally getting shields or healing.

R>W>E>Q for maxxing order!

leonashieldofdaybreak.png
Shield of Daybreak: A mini-stun used to lock people down. Most optimal usage is when you can auto-Q-auto. You can also use this on wards that are placed on top of you to instantly kill the ward even without help!

leonasolarbarrier.png
Eclipse: This is what makes you tanky enough to dive like a maniac! As soon as you jump in put this up to live through the brunt of the damage coming at you.

leonazenithblade.png
Zenith Blade: Your dash skill will launch you to the last enemy champion you hit. So if you hit enemy champions 1 through 5 in order, you'll end up at 5's location. This skill will also have you follow enemies who flash if you hit right before they flash. Can lead you to some bad situations or great ones so keep this in mind!

leonasolarflare.png
Solar Flare: Stuns in the center and slows on the outer ring. Can be used to pick people off from a distance or zone them from going a certain way or get stunned. This can also be used in combination of E->R->Q. Using E to get to the enemy and immediately R-ing and Q-ing the target while the animation of the R comes down!

Situational Items

Starting items should always be relic shield and some potions. This gives you more HP to work around with in the early game when you're playing aggro. Upon your first recall you should be going for your targon's brace to supplement your income more. Mobility Boots is the next purchase ASAP. Once you get Mobi boots your roams are a ton better and you can pressure the entire map easily.

After you have those items you go towards your sightstone. This will help you and your team make better informed decisions on objectives and ganks! Always remember to switch out your trinket for a red trinket as soon as you get your sightstone. Upgrading your sightstone to the Eye of the Equinox will consolidate your support item and Sightstone into one slot which is better for you!

After these items you go for your Righteous Glory. Righteous Glory is a fantastic item for you as a roaming support. Once you see an opportunity instead of having to try to hit the enemy with an E you can literally run them down with your RG active and proceed to lock them down with a melee Q into ult.

With all of these engage tools now at your disposal you can focus on protecting your team from getting burst down. Locket is a great item for this since you're stacking a lot of HP as is. After you finish your locket work towards a Gargoyle Stoneplate. The Combo is engage with your spells and then use Stoneplate in the middle of the enemy team to get the increased HP and then your Locket for massive HP shield!

As a support always remember to have a healthy stack of Pink wards at all times! Pink wards are ideal for vision control.

    Easy

VS

Lulu

Easy

If you allow yourself to get poked you're in for a bad time. You have the advantage early as long as you can land your E onto the enemy. Don't try to all-in immediately, instead go for several small trades early and then all in upon level 2!

Introduction Back to Top

In this guide we go over Leona as Misfits IgNar played it vs SKT and dominated them! Above this we have the build that he went and some notes on the reasoning behind his choices. Below we'll go over the playstyle that IgNar used to play this game and to lead his team to victory(in this game) vs the Korean Juggernauts.

Early Game Back to Top

Early game is the most important time for Leona and doubly so for the game vs SKT. The game was focused around botlane in an already botlane focused meta. Level 1, take your Zenith blade(E) this will allow you to jump onto their carry. Use this as soon as the enemy gets to lane this will allow you to chunk the enemy carry. You have 3 potions and the enemy will only have 1 if they're going a doran's item. As long as you have your ally ADC on the same page as you go in as much as you can early. Fervor of Battle early game is an insane damage boost and the enemy team won't be expecting that level of damage.

The enemies will be focusing your ADC so always try to peel off whoever is on your carry. If the ADC is on them attack them or vice versa. Once you get them low enough you can all-in them even if you're only level 1. As soon as you get to level 2 and have a point in Q you can use your Auto-Q-Auto combo for some insane damage. You cannot use this strategy if your adc is not on the same page or is a passive player by nature. If you have to deal with that focus on helping him farm up early until you can get your Mobility Boots and then can roam to other lanes occasionally!

Mid Game Back to Top

Once you have hit mid game this is your time to shine. You should have at the very least your Mobility boots and Sightstone. Focus on getting deep vision(the enemy wraith/enemy blue buff) so you can make good roaming decisions either against the enemy jungler or avoiding him altogether.

Roaming with your jungler is a good choice if they are even or ahead. You can force ganks with him and even dive turrets with your natural tankiness. When you do dive try to make sure you know where the enemy is before you dive so you don't get counterganked and demolished.

Once you get your Righteous Glory you can force fights with less dependence on hitting your E or your Ult. Try to flank the enemies and pop your RG. Once you get into range you can combo with a Q and ally help or Q into R for easy stun lock!

Late Game Back to Top

Late Game is a very scary place in the game. Knowing when to go in or not is the key to victory. If you go in without your ally support you'll just die even though you have tanky tools. Always be aware of your ally's location and enemy's location so you don't go too far ahead of yourself. Remember you can engage a fight with your ult and then play back to protect and peel for your carries. You don't need to dive in with your E everytime!

Picks are a very important in this time frame. You have all the tools necessary to do so, so make sure you keep up vision control! As you saw in IgNar's game they worked around vision very well catching people when they attempted to check baron or other objectives. If you can use these strategies in your games it will lead to more success!

As a support if you can zone a carry from a fight, it is worth it almost always! Anytime you can turn a 5v5 into a 4v4 with you and an important person out of the fight it should lead to success. As a support your life is much less important compared to your allies, while not a great mindset for all of the game, if its the choice between you and a carry 50 minutes in. PROTECT THE CARRY
