Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash with Teleport should always be your summoner spell choice. The map pressure and roaming potential is way too good not to. Even against 8.png or 50.png, it's better to just run Teleport and not kill them. You don't have much kill pressure on these champions either way, and teleport is essential to Lissandra's gameplay.

This is your standard skill leveling, although it is open to some variation dependent on matchup.

Versus 157.png105.png7.png or anyone similar you need lissandraw.pngW level 2 just to trade. In this case, you want to level lissandrae.pngE level 3, unless you are certain the enemy jungler cannot gank you.

lissandraq.pngQlissandrae.pngElissandraw.pngW Level 3 is not reccomended. Into most matchups, you're not using lissandraw.png for early trading, and Rank 1 lissandraq.png is very weak; you need Rank 2 lissandraq.png as soon as possible.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Always your starting item. Doran's is too strong to start anything else. If you die early and you only have 400 gold you can buy a 2nd Doran's.

Core Items

This should be your full build every game, no exceptions (excluding boots).

Situational Items

You should pick up a corrupting potion at some point in the game. Ionian boots is strictly for if you choose to run 9x MR Glyphs, and you don't have 10% scaling CDR in runes.

Lissandra's build is heavily situational.

In most matchups, you will rush a defensive item; either 1057.png or 3191.png, depending on AP or AD matchup.

If you're versus a low damage matchup like 4.png or otherwise snowballing lane, you want to rush a 3145.png.

After building your defensive item, you want to build into 3152.png. However, there are different ways to do this.

Losing lane / Getting into long extended trades (Example : 50.png ) = 3067.png2033.png. This gives you HP, CDR, Sustain and Burn damage on all abilities, which makes it perfect for long extended fights and sustaining in lane.

Even/Winning Lane = 3145.png. This keeps your offensive stats up and gives you kill potential on your lane. If you're in a winning lane and you happen to back with 870 gold, remember that 1052.png1052.png is still better than 3067.png.

Note: With 3145.png, 1 spell + an AA will proc thunderlord's. This is because of the 3145.png passive making your AA deal 2 points of damage.

After building either 1057.png  or 3191.png and 3152.png, you have the choice of 3001.png or 3157.png. Generally, you want to finish the item you have the build for (If you have 1057.png finish 3001.png, if you have 3191.png finish 3157.png). However, you could do the opposite.

3001.png is strong when there is a lot of AP in the game. It amplifies your team's AP damage and reduces the enemy team's.

3157.png is strong when you want to dodge large spells.

For example, if you're versus a 105.png45.png134.png, you're going to rush 1057.png. But, depending on the rest of the champions, you may want to finish 3157.png before 3001.png.

The same goes for the opposite end. If you're versus a 41.png, you're going to rush 3191.png. But, depending on the rest of the champions, you may want to finish 3001.png before 3157.png.

VS

Ahri

Hard

Ahri will out trade heavily with ahriorbofdeception.png level 1. She'll use this to poke you down and all in level 2 with 4.png ahriseduce.png ahriorbofdeception.png 14.png.  However, if you can survive getting solo killed, the longer the game goes on the better you do into her.

VS

Akali

Easy

You poke her very heavily early game with lissandraq.png. She's also melee, which makes her susceptible to your lissandraw.png. You will bully her, push her into tower, and make her miss minion kills. However, level 8+ she will start to out trade/damage you, and you won't be able to 1v1 her. You'll still heavily counter her in team fights and essentially make her useless all game.

VS

Anivia

Medium

This is a fairly even lane. Neither of you have kill pressure without a jungle gank. You have the mobility to escape her damage and CC, but if you misplay she can punish you heavily.

VS

Annie

Hard

Annie will always out trade you and have kill pressure. You need to play safe in this lane and ask your jungle to camp, as she will be running 14.png4.png and be very susceptible to ganks.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium

This is a huge skill matchup. Lissandra is one of the few champions who can keep up with 136.png's early game push. You have the mobility to dodge his aurelionsolq.png and avoid his stars. You want to get in close with him and use lissandraw.png to lock him down and avoid him from positioning to hit you with stars. Once you are in close he will most likely try to use aurelionsolr.png to blast you into star range. You should be expecting this and should be able to self lissandrar.png on reaction.

VS

Azir

Medium
268.png does counter you, but since he isn't very strong right now, I labelled this a medium matchup. He out-ranges you by a considerable amount and he's not squishy enough to full combo and kill. Fortunately, he doesn't have too much kill pressure on you, he's just really annoying.

azirr.png has a slow enough animation for you to self lissandrar.png on reaction.

VS

Brand

Hard

This matchup is like 101.png but not as bad. Unlike 101.png, Brand is likely to run 14.png, which makes him very susceptible to ganks. Like 1.png, you want to ask your jungler to camp this lane.

VS

Cassiopeia

Hard

One of your hardest matchups. 69.png bullies you all game, and has kill pressure as early as level 1 if she starts cassiopeiae.png. Her cassiopeiaw.png is especially useful against your lissandrae.png, as she can see when you want to use it and immediately lock you down. This means that when you cast lissandrae.png, you want to recast it very quickly to dodge cassiopeiaw.png. Otherwise, she will use cassiopeiaw.png on you and you won't get to use to recast your lissandrae.png at all.

You need to play safe and ask your jungle for ganks. However, if you don't execute the gank well 69.png can easily kill one or both of you.

cassiopeiar.png is slow enough to self lissandrar.png on reaction.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

You will out-trade him early, but at level 7 he will have full feast.png stacks and be hard for you to kill for the rest of the game.

VS

Corki

Hard

You will win early, but once he completes 3155.png he will out-trade you and you won't be able to kill him without jungler help.

VS

Diana

Easy

Similar to 84.png, you will poke her early but later on get out-traded.

VS

Ekko

Medium

A skill matchup. Neither of you have much kill pressure unless someone messes up. If he gets greedy with his ekkor.png you can lissandrar.png him and kill him before he has the chance to ekkor.png.

VS

Fizz

Easy

This matchup is in your favor, but if you mess up he can easily kill you. Get  lissandraw.png  level 2  and push him into tower, poking and denying minion kills. Always use lissandrar.png on yourself to grant invulnerability from his fizzr.png

VS

Galio

Medium

Farm lane. Neither of you will have any kill pressure. You can kill him with ganks, but you have to be careful of counterganks, as they will easily win a 2v2 if 3.png hits his galioidolofdurand.png on both of you.

VS

Gangplank

Easy

You will beat him all game. Bring 9x Flat Armor Seals and build 3191.png early. You can push him in and deny him gold and silver serpent stacking from gangplankqwrapper.png and gangplanke.png

Keep in mind he can gangplankw.png your lissandrar.png. Despite this, you still have a lot of kill pressure on him.

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

No kill pressure on either side, but your jungler can gank him, while their jungle will have a hard time ganking you. While wave clearing with lissandraq.png, try to line it up to gradually kill his heimerdingerq.pngs as well. 127.png is one of the better picks into 74.png.

You have the mobility and lissandrar.png to dodge his heimerdingerr.png abilities.

VS

Irelia

Hard

Irelia can come mid, and if you play top 127.png she will be there also, and she will destroy you. Avoid this matchup completely.

VS

Jayce

Medium

Jayce can come mid, and if you play top 127.png, he will also be there. This matchup is slightly in 126.png's favor. You won't be able to kill him, especially after he gets 3155.png, and if you arent able to dodge his EQ combos, he can poke you down and kill you.

VS

Karma

Medium

Karma will occasionally come mid. She will poke and somewhat bully you, but you have the all-in potential. Ganks will be very effective against her.

Since she only has 1 real damage spell, your self lissandrar.png is very effective.

VS

Karthus

Medium

Will poke you early levels, but has no real kill pressure. You can all-in him if you hit a couple lissandraq.pngs, and he's easy to gank.

Self lissandrar.png and 3157.png both counter karthusfallenone.png.

VS

Kassadin

Medium
127.png wins early. You need to pick up an early 2033.png to help trade. As the game goes on he'll be too tanky for you to kill. However, you counter him in team fights.

Let him use nulllance.png first. Use auto attacks until the magic shield disappears and then use lissandraq.png. This will win you the trade.

VS

Katarina

Easy

As long as you don't get hit by the bouncing from her katarinaq.png, and you don't stand on her daggers, you can bully her hard in lane. If she katarinaewrapper.pngs to a dagger you can lissandraw.png and punish her heavily. At level 6 you nullify her power spike with more CC and lock down.

You heavily counter her in team fights. Your lissandrar.png or even just a lissandraw.png will CC her enough for your team to kill her.

VS

Kayle

Medium

You'll get out-traded, but not enough for her to have kill pressure on you. She's easy to gank, especially pre-6. Even after level 6 judicatorintervention.png is only .5 seconds longer than lissandrar.png.

VS

Kennen

Medium

He can poke you early with just his autos and kennenbringthelight.png off his passive, but as the game goes on you completely counter him.

Your self lissandrar.png counters his all-in, especially his kennenshurikenstorm.png. Your offensive lissandrar.png counters his late game teamfighting. If you can lissandrar.png him before he gets to your team, you can shut down his engage and kill him.

VS

Kog'Maw

Hard

AP Kog'maw has lots of poke damage. He will out-range and bully in you in lane. He's very easy to gank, especially after level 6.

In later teamfights, you can considerably burst him. If he uses his 3040.png shield well, you won't be able to 1 shot him, but with any follow-up from your team he's an easy target.

VS

LeBlanc

Easy
127.png is 7.png's hardest counter. Her usual ability to bully her lane is nullified by your lissandraw.png. Once she uses her leblancw.png, you can lock her down with lissandraw.png, AA, and then lissandraq.png, successfully winning a trade against the hardest lane bully in the game.

However, Leblanc is still Leblanc. If you mess up she can kill you very quickly. The main thing you have to worry about is her leblance.png. She can kill you in one combo if that hits level 3.

After level 6 and later into the game you counter her even harder. You can lock her down with your offensive lissandrar.png, and she can't all-in you if you use your self lissandrar.png correctly.

VS

Lulu

Hard

She will bully you early game and has good kill pressure with ignite. She's also not very easy to gank, even after level 6.

Later into the game you will outscale her and be able to 1v1 her.

VS

Lux

Hard

She will bully you from level 1. She'll use her luxlightstrikekugel.png + AA repeatedly until she forces you out lane. She's very easy to gank, especially after level 6.

Your lissandrar.png and 3157.png stop her from using her full combo to 1 shot you, and you counter her hard in team fights. You can easily 1 shot her with your combo.

VS

Malzahar

Easy

Although 90.png is more of a support now, but he can be played mid. Your lissandraw.png can stop his malzaharw.png damage, and you can out-trade him otherwise. He's also fairly easy to gank.

In team fights, when you lissandrae.png in, you need to self lissandrar.png immediately to avoid his malzaharr.png lockdown, or you'll die before you get the chance to be invulnerable.

VS

Mordekaiser

Hard

The problem with 82.png is that you can't ever trade with him, you will die. You need to play safe and just farm. You'll get pushed to tower, but he can't really poke you under tower and you should be able to cs well. He can be ganked fairly easily by a high damage jungler.

Make sure not to estimate his mordekaisermaceofspades.png damage or the instant healing on his mordekaiserchildrenofthegrave.png.

VS

Morgana

Medium

Farm lane. Neither of you has kill pressure and you counter her all-in and her soulshackles.png especially with your lissandrar.png. You can gank her well as long as you time her blackshield.png. Just hold onto your lissandraw.png and lissandrar.png and lissandraq.png her blackshield.png down.

Later in the game you'll outscale her and be much more useful in team fights. You have to be careful with your offensive lissandrar.png, as she can blackshield.png your target on reaction.

VS

Orianna

Hard

Classic 127.png counter. She will poke and zone you hard in lane. It will be hard for you to farm, but at about level 8+ she won't really have any kill pressure on you. She's easy to gank as long as she'd not running 1.png.

You can self lissandrar.png3157.png, and 4.png her orianadetonatecommand.png on reaction.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

Pantheon can go mid and if you go top he'll be there aswell. He will bully you hard early game. You're going to need to forfeit cs to keep yourself alive.

Later into the game you'll be too tanky for him to kill and you counter his playstyle heavily.

VS

Ryze

Medium

This isn't inherently a hard lane, but if you mess up he will punish you heavily. You need to play back to avoid his ryzee.png bouncing to you from the minions. The worst thing for you to do is get in an open fight with him. You need minions to block his ryzeq.png, or he will kill you very quickly. He's fairly easy to gank, especially after level 6, where your CC nullifies his only escape; ryzer.png.

His ryzee.png+ryzew.png heavily counters your lissandrae.png, so you need to reactivate it before he gets a chance to lock you down.

VS

Swain

Medium

Farm lane. Neither of you have kill pressure. You want to gank him pre level 6 and shut him down early, as he can snowball hard and will be useless if denied a lead.

You want to go for an early 2033.png to help with trading and lane sustain.

You can cast lissandrae.png while in swainshadowgrasp.png, and once swainshadowgrasp.png you will be able to reactivate your lissandrae.png.

VS

Syndra

Hard

One of your hardest counters. Has kill pressure as early as level 1. You need to get good at dodging her syndraq.png to survive in this lane. She will be trying to punish you every time you go for a minion kill. The trick is to act like you're going up for a minion kill, but cancel your AA quickly and walk out, and then kill the minion.

It's necessary to rush 1057.png, no matter how ahead you are in lane, as her combo will 1 shot you. You have outplay potential in this lane as she has 3 skillshots and your self lissandrar.png counters her syndrar.png.
She's fairly easy to gank.
Look for her trying to syndraq.png+syndrae.png you out of your lissandrae.png. You may have to activate lissandrae.png early to dodge it.

VS

Taliyah

Hard

Taliyah is fairly weak right now, and she doesn't have the wave push she had previously. Due to this you won't get pushed into tower, but her taliyahwvc.png+taliyahe.png+taliyahq.png will chunk you and she has a lot of kill pressure early. She's hard to gank if she plays correctly.

3152.png activates taliyahe.png damage.

VS

Talon

Medium

If you play against his talonw.png well you should be able to out trade him and deny minions. However, if you get hit by a full talonw.png early game his talonq.png will chunk you. If you misplay this lane he will kill you easily. Easy to gank.

You counter him late game and in team fights due to your lock down CC and invulnerability.

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

He'll push you in early, but you out-trade. You should rush 3145.png4.png doesn't do enough damage to justify a 1057.png rush. Once you've finished 3145.png and have lissandrar.png, you have kill pressure on him and he's incredibly easy to gank.

Make sure to constantly shove him into tower and try to trade with him to make it harder for him to use his destiny.png effectively.

VS

Varus

Hard

Will bully you hard early game, but once you get lissandrar.png he's very easy to gank. Later in the game you can easily kill him with 1 combo.

VS

Veigar

Easy

You hard counter him throughout the entire game. You will out-trade heavily throughout the entire lane, and you have good kill pressure. Your lissandrae.png is a huge counter to his veigareventhorizon.png. Also very easy to gank.

Even late game you have self lissandrar.png and 3157.png to nullify his ult damage, and you can easily kill him in 1 combo.

VS

Vel'Koz

Hard

Will poke you hard all lane. Incredibly easy to gank. Ask your jungle to camp. Level 6 fights are very even. You both have kill pressure, and its up to outplay.

3152.png is very good for dodging his velkoze.png.

VS

Viktor

Medium

Will bully you levels 1-3, but level 4 it becomes an even lane, and level 6 you will win. Most viktors won't run 1.png, and if you get ahead in this lane you will be able to kill him solo over and over again. Ask your jungler for help early.

If you find you're going to be stunned in his viktorgravitonfield.png, it can be a good idea to self lissandrar.png before you do, as he generally will use viktorchaosstorm.png and viktordeathray.png right as you get stunned.

VS

Vladimir

Medium

You'll get slightly out-traded early levels, but not hard enough for it to be dangerous. Level 6+ your playstyle counters his, and you can gank him easily, especially if you time your offensive lissandrar.png to deny his empowered vladimirq.png.

He can vladimirsanguinepool.png out of your lissandrar.png while it's in its .5 second cast time. This will put your ult on a 3 second cooldown.

VS

Xerath

Hard

Will poke and bully you in lane and under tower. He can be ganked easily if he's not running 1.png.

In later team fights you need to wait out his xerathmagespear.png before you engage, or self lissandrar.png yourself immediately when you go in to dodge the stun.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

He will be aggressive early levels, and if you don't play it well he will kill you. Later levels, you counter him. You'll be able to lock him down in team fights and skirmishes.

VS

Zed

Hard

He's going to out-trade you heavily with zedw.png+zedq.png early levels, and you'll have a hard time not dying solo. Also not very easy to gank. After level 6 he won't be able to kill you with your self lissandrar.png.

Later levels you counter his playstyle. You can lock him down as soon as he ults in in team fights.

VS

Ziggs

Medium

He will poke you early, but if you play lane well you will beat him hard. He's easy to gank, and after level 6 you will win all-ins. If you get ahead you'll be able to kill him solo over and over again.

VS

Zilean

Hard

He will poke you in lane and you won't  be able to kill him without jungle help, but he also doesn't have too much kill pressure on you.

Your offensive lissandrar.png counters his chronoshift.png. If you gets below 40% hp you can lissandrar.png and burst him before he has the chance to self chronoshift.png. This forces him to chronoshift.png himself early, and you will then let chronoshift.png time out.

Lissandra Overview Back to Top

Lissandra has been at the least a decent pick pretty much ever since her release and will most likely stay that way. She has an incredibly versatile kit and brings so much to any team composition.
In fact Lissandra is so versatile that she will fit in no matter what role you need to fulfill in your team comp in order to win the game:
- Anticarry
- Peel
- Assasin
- Split pusher
- Wave clear
- Zoning
- Engage
- Disengage
- Locking people down
- Tower diving

Lissandra can do all that at every ELO - and she's a pretty safe blind/first pick, as even a bad lane doesn't dampen her incredible mid-game team fighting.
The most important key skill that you should hone to become the master Lissandra player is decision making, because you can use all of her skills in many different ways depending on situation you're in. She won't be able to do all of the aforementioned things I've said at once - choose what your team needs the most and do it to get maximum potential out of Lissandra.

Remember this, a great Lissandra will be a godsend to your team. In this guide I'll teach you how to give every team you are in a massive advantage. Don't get discouraged and never give up - one incredibly well played team fight by you back in the game even in the most dire scenarios.

Mindset Back to Top

A great Lissandra player has to be very patient. You have to wait for the perfect time to engage and combo their back line.

You'll also have to get perceptive and good at predicting which will enable you to be nearly unkillable in lane. A good Lissandra player will be very hard to gank with good positioning and your lissandrae.png , on top of your invulnerablity with self lissandrar.png and natural tankiness.

You need to learn how to read team fights. It's very easy to turn a game as Lissandra around baron. A patient, well-placed combo can obliterate the enemy backline.

In lane, you normally want to play passively and farm. Into most matchups, you're not good 1v1 early, but you have some of the strongest gank assistance in the game. However, team fighting is your real strength. As long as you come out of lane with good farm, you will dominate team fights.

Your roams, especially 12.png ganks bot lane, are very strong and can win your team the early game.

Synergies Back to Top

As I've already said, Lissandra fits pretty much every team comp, but nontheless there are champions that go better than others with her.

Gank oriented junglers

Your CC will only further amplify their already already great potential to snowball the game and they will most likely be your best buddies for side lane gank squads.

35.png76.png64.png28.png60.png76.png80.png254.png59.png

Tanky supports

They will enable you to have easy time diving enemy bot lane tower and your combined amount of CC will usually be enough to successfully lock people down and peel for the ADC later on.

12.png53.png44.png89.png412.png111.png201.png

Engage

These champions simply further syngergize with your team fighting potential. With them in your team you can often work as secondary engage or re-engage with your E + W + Self R combo

If your ADC is capable of huge amounts of DPS in team fights and he doesn't have enough protection from your team then you can always fill that gap with your CC-based kit. It's all about the actual damage that these champions can do to win the fight if properly taken care of.

Mechanics Back to Top

There are numerous in-game Lissandra mechanics that you should acknowledge and take advantage of:

lissandrapassive.png- You should keep track of it on your HUD and play accordingly around it to always be in a situation where casting your spell right when it's off the cooldown is useful. In laning phase you'll be mostly abusing it with your Q.

lissandraq.png - It's range increases by 100 units after hitting the first target on it's way which makes this spell excellent both for poking and clearing minion waves. You should also always line up your champion accordingly to get the most out of this spell.

Auto Attack + lissandraq.png - Your auto attack animation doesn't have to be 100% completed for you to cast your Q, because it cancels the animation. This enables you to maximize your DPS in trades and various spell combos.

lissandraw.png- It's biggest upside is the fact that it's instant and can be casted while moving. It means that it can be casted simultaneously with auto attacks and other spells.

lissandrae.png - It often slightly extends it's range if used through the terrain, and there is slightly longer duration on the recast than you would expect by looking at the animation.

lissandrar.png- Self use heals you with base amount + % of missing health and deals the same AoE damage as the offensive use so it'll be usually way better in team fights.

3152.png - Good for dodging small AoE abilties like velkoze.pngjhinw.pngjhinr.png if needed.

Dark Ice - This is the AoE that expands from the target of your ultimate, be it from you or the targeted enemy. This is your actual source of magic damage while self-ulting. It will damage and slow anyone who'll walk into it. Remember that the AoE damage isn't instant - it emanates from the target. If some uses 3157.png on your engage, your dark ice damage will hit when they come out of 3157.png.

Invisibility - Lissandra is great against invisible targets like121.png because all her spells, except for offensive Ult, are both NOT point-and-click and AoE which enables you to hit enemies while they are invisible. Especially your lissandraw.png is effective if you are sure that the invisible enemy is next to you.

Invulerability - You've got 2 ways to get it, both keep the stasis for 2.5 second. Invulnerability will make you both untargetable and unable to receive damage and there are numerous ways to abuse it. Examples would be stopping ignite or any other damage over time type of spells or nullifying important spells like Caitlyn's and Fizz's ultimates. When you use your self lissandrar.png for a team fight combo, it is almost always a good idea to 3157.png immediately after, as the enemy team is most likely holding onto their abilities and trying to time when you will come out of your lissandrar.png

3157.pnglissandrar.png- 2.5 second stasis will always be enough time for your Q to come back off of CD with level 5 into it and 20% CDR, so it is smart to use your full combo, then 3157.png the enemy's abilities while yours come off cooldown.

Powerspikes Back to Top

All of your spells benefit immensely from level-ups which means that Lissandra doesn't fall-off at any point of the game, although she can get outscaled by plenty of hyper-carries in the late game. Nonetheless there are points of the game when you'll be often relatively stronger than most of the champions in your games and you should abuse them.

Level powerspikes:

Level 6 - Huge powerspike . Gaining your Ultimate opens up tower dives, 1v1 kills, TP ganks and further enhances your gank synergy with the jungler

Level 9 - Moderate powerspike - Ice Shard, your DPS spell, gets to it's strongest point with only 3 second base CD and plenty of damage

Level 11 - Big powerspike. You get 100 damage more, 25 seconds less CD and 15% more slow on Frozen Tomb. This powespike can often win you the mid-game team fight so if you lack that 0,5-1 level then try to quickly farm and level up before that next expected team fight over objective.

Level 16 - Big powerspike. 3rd rank of the ultimate means another 100 damage, another 25 seconds less and greater slow (because 20% more instead of 15%) than level 2. Despite better slow the 100 damage difference doesn't mean that much into late-game so I consider it a slightly weaker powerspike than level 11.

Laning Back to Top

Laning for Lissandra is fairly simple. As said in "Mindset" section, you want to play passively into most lanes, farm up, and stomp mid-game team fights. Into hard lanes, you want to rush either 1057.png or 3191.png and save your lissandrae.png and self lissandrar.png to escape and survive ganks.

However, this isn't to say you don't have the ability to stomp and snowball lane. A snowballing Lissandra can punish the enemy laner very heavily.

Remember that Lissandra has some of the best gank assistance in the game, especially after level 6. You can use this to your advantage to shut down a snowbally champ and win lane. If Lissandra gets ahead, she can solo kill her lane over and over again with her large gap closing ability and heavy CC with burst.

Your 12.png is an important part of laning. You almost always want to use your first 12.png after your first recall to get back to lane. You should aim to use your second 12.png to gank bot lane. Ask your bot to ward the bush closest to the enemy tower, so you can 12.png to it. However, some bot lanes are simply a waste of time. If you don't think you will be able to get kills bot off a 12.png gank, dont be afraid to use your second 12.png to get back to lane, especially if there is a wave at your tower.

Top Lane Back to Top

Lissandra can be played top lane, but I would not recommend it, especially not blind pick. Top is a different meta, and most of the champs will beat you. It's also a longer lane, which makes it harder for you to use your combo and kite back. Due to this, even some matchups you might win mid you will lose top.

Top lanes who will kill you without doubt : 80.png58.png107.png164.png114.png133.png24.png39.png240.png
If you ever find yourself in one of these matchups you've made a mistake. You will lose top very hard, no matter how good you are at Lissandra.

Losing Lanes:92.png157.png83.png8.png2.png23.png10.png82.png50.png

Top lanes who will quickly be too tanky for you to damage ( also losing lanes) : 57.png111.png75.png48.png36.png54.png33.png14.png98.png31.png

Even matchups: 85.png68.png25.png245.png

Winning lanes: 150.png78.png41.png

As you can see, top is not a very good meta for Lissandra. With most tanks, you have about 4 levels to kill them before they get too high leveled and buy 3211.png and will be unkillable by you.

Warding Back to Top

Early game, use your trinket whenever possible to gain vision of key spots - river and the raptor jungle entrance.

Mid-late game you should mostly use your trinkets to fill out the gaps in your team's vision, especially when your support can't cover it all on his own and cannot currently recall to refill his ward supply. If you've got the slots and remaining gold in base then buy a pink ward - especially to cover that mid side bush in laning phase to enable your jungler to gank/countergank, it costs only 75 gold.

Another way to use your trinket is warding in tricky spots around the mid lane that will enable you to flank with TP easily - especially when you'll be able to predict that enemy will soon push out the wave and begin poking and dancing around objectives with your team.

Roaming Back to Top

This is usually your best way to win the early-mid game. You should constantly look for occasions to roam and try to create them yourself by feeding proper info and shoving the lane. In later levels, you want to be constantly pushing lane as hard as possible. If the enemy mid lane is shoved into tower, and you are out roaming, you are doing much more for your team.

Roaming does not mean you have to gank.

This is a common misconception. Roaming is useful for many reasons, not just ganks.

1. Vision Denial - Whenever you're "MIA" and the enemy doesn't know where you are, you instantly have map pressure. Enemy top and bot have to play more safe or risk being ganked.

2. Deep Vision - Buy 2055.pngs and place them and your trinket in the enemy jungle. This will allow you better vision on their jungler, giving your team vital information.

3. Plants - As you roam, it is a good idea to use the plants. The vision plant on their side of the jungle both helps you find out where their jungle is, and denies them the use of that plant until it respawns. Honeydew plants can help you sustain if you're low on health or mana.

However, some of your roams will be ganks. With your massive gap closer lissandrae.png and heavy CC with burst, your ganking potential is incredible. Self lissandrar.png also makes you a very good turret diver. While tower diving early-mid game you'll usually want to E in, W + Q enemies and ult yourself to switch the tower aggro.

After hitting level 6 your ganking potential grows extremely large, because of your CC and tower diving capability, and your  12.png should be almost off cooldown.

Note:
You can TP not only onto friendly minions and wards, but also onto any friendly targetable units like Zac blobs, Shaco Boxes, J4's flag etc.

Things to note before deciding to roam:
- Friendly and enemy picks (friendly laners with CC/reliable damage will give you a better kill chance)
- How safe the enemy plays (sometimes ganking a laner very good at safe playstyle will be a gigantic waste of time and effort)
- Enemy warding patterns (how often, how long time ago did they last ward and where do they usually ward)

Roaming examples:

Bot lanes you want to gank: 143.png202.png267.png432.png29.png16.png26.png1.png43.png37.png63.png119.png

Bot lanes that are hard to gank:201.png81.png40.png412.png12.png44.png429.png

Bot lanes that will help you gank: 143.png53.png432.png223.png202.png15.png236.png412.png

Combos Back to Top

There are plenty of strong combos you can use as Lissandra. Choosing which will be the best at given scenario will make the difference between losing and winning teamfights or 1v1s.

1v1 Combo

Your highest damage single target combo.

AA+lissandraq.png+lissandrar.png+AA+AA+lissandraq.pnglissandraw.png

In this combo you make use of the slight AA animation cancel on your lissandraq.png and your CC is perfectly chained so your enemy can't move for 2.5 seconds.

Teamfight Combos

Here is where you have to make hard choices. The wrong combo here could have you dead before you do any damage, losing you the team fight.

Standard Full Damage Combolissandrae.png....lissandrae.png 3152.png lissandraw.png lissandraq.png lissandrar.png
What you want to use every time ideally. Late game this full combo can instantly kill their entire back line. You can exclude lissandraq.png here if you're afraid of getting bursted.

Anti-CC Combolissandrae.png....lissandrae.png lissandraw.png lissandrar.png
This should be used when the enemy team has champions like 90.png101.png412.png33.png ; anyone who has an instant hard CC ability that you will die before you come out of. If you tried to use your standard combo, you would only get to use 3152.png and then you would die.

If you're afraid of getting CCed immediately after you come out of your lissandrae.png, refer to the "Teamfight Counters" section.

Minion Combos

Lissandra has insane close range wave clear. You can use this to your advantage to farm very well, even under tower.

Full Wave Clear Combo- lissandrae.png + lissandraq.pnglissandraw.png
This is fairly simple. Later in the game using all 3 abilities standing right in front of the wave will clear the entire wave, unless there is a Siege Minion or Super Minion present.

Under Tower -
Your rank 1 lissandraw.png and lissandrae.png do about the same damage as an AA. If you remember the formula for farming caster minions under tower ( AA ... tower shot ... AA for last hit), then it's clear how this can be useful. Simply lissandraw.png the back line, and then when the tower hits them they will be low enough for you to AA for the last hit.

TeamFighting Back to Top

This is where Lissandra is best. This is where you are strong, and you can win games for your team. Your standard role in team fights in secondary engage. You can be the team's primary engage, but then that gives the enemy team time to prepare CC to try to lock you down and to move away from your lissandrae.png to make it harder for you to kill them. In an ideal situation you're more of an AoE assassin. You want to come in from a flank or when they're invested on one of your allies or an objective like baron. If you can do this you can literally get an instant triple kill on their back line, even if they're all full HP. This is the maximum potential of your team fighting ability. Generally you want to do be 50-70% to 2/3 members, and that should win you the teamfight. For information on how to combo correctly in the middle of their team, go to the "Combos" section.

While this is your primary way to teamfight, depending on the game you might want to play as a back line instead. There are several reasons you would want to do this.

1. You have a kite composition -
For example, if you have 81.png40.png104.png126.png on your team, you have no one to dive with. Unless your team is very ahead and you can instantly kill their back line, they'll just kite and kill you as soon as you come out lissandrar.png, and your team won't be there to help you.

2. ADC is Fed - This is the same concept as the kite composition, except that it's just more useful in this situation to protect your ADC than to engage, not completely unviable. Keep in mind that while you may be running engage most of the game, if your ADC gets extremely fed you could switch over and kite for him.

3. They Have a Fed Frontline - If the enemy team has 1 very fed target, it may be more useful for you to stay back line and help lock that champion down. This only really works for enemy front line champions. If their back line is fine it's better to just engage as usual.

Champions like 11.png24.png114.png84.png164.png131.png245.png39.png92.png38.png85.png64.png80.png56.png58.png107.png23.png157.png
are who you want to be using this on. They're not necessarily tanks, but they'll be trying to get to your back line.

Teamfight Counters Back to Top

Some champs will make it very hard for you to engage by sitting on your lissandrae.png and trying to disrupt your combo.

12.png - pulverize.pngheadbutt.png          53.png-staticfield.pngpowerfist.pngrocketgrab.png           16.png-sorakae.png

Obviously any CC can be used to try to disrupt you, but these are the hardest hitting.

The trick to outplayed their CC is to activate your lissandrae.png early, making them waste their CC on the spot they thought you were going, and then 4.png in and combo their backline.

Final Words Back to Top

First of all thanks for the read.

The most important thing after reading and understanding this guide will be getting your practice in and experience playing her so don't be afraid of first picking or blind picking Lissandra.

Don't get discouraged by early mistakes and losses - analyse your play and decisions instead in order to improve.

Information rich guide can be a tough pill to swallow all at once so you can always go over the part of the guide you didn't completely understand or just use the specific fragments that are required for your particular game while you're on loading screen.

I wish you good luck and lots of fun playing as The Ice Witch
