Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Flash

This is a self-explanatory spell. This is the most powerful spell in my opinion. Flash can be used to get you in or out of any sticky situation, even being incorporated within your combos. Using Flash with your combos could be used to start your engagement on an enemy, chasing, running away, saving your ADC or teammate, and many more.

Using Flash within your combos takes much time to learn, especially considering the long cooldown time for the spell (300 seconds [or 5 minutes]), and should only be considered if, and only if, it will not go to waste. Don't flash just because it's available and it will get you out of a situation much faster...think ahead of time for any possible scenarios to consider whether or not Flash would be absolutely necessary. If you get caught in Blitzcrank's grab rocketgrab.png, don't spam your Flash button until the moment you do Flash out. Instead, just shield yourself, polymorph the enemy carry, and use a health pot if you need to use one. Using your flash simply because it's available is a crucial mistake done by many novice players, and this mistake can very well cost you a turret when you die because you wasted your Flash two minutes beforehand when it was available but not absolutely necessary.

Here is an example in which flash is integrated into the offensive dealing of an enemy as a Lulu support:

If your lane has already secured a kill, is engaging the other champion who is beginning to run, AND you know for a fact that you or your ADC can catch AND kill the other champ, start off by casting your W luluw.png to speed up your ADC's movement, Flash-E-Q the enemy in less than half a second or as fast as you can. This will give your enemy a decaying slow by 80% for 2 seconds and your ally a speed buff of 30%(+ 5% per 100 AP) bonus movement speed for the next 3/3.25/3.5/3.75/4 seconds. This provides a wonderful setup for your ADC if the enemy has already been weakened. Another added bonus for casting Pix lulue.png(E) on the enemy is you also can see the enemy if they immediately try to hide in a bush. To sum it all up, this gives your ADC or ally about two or three seconds to catch up and hopefully clean up the mess. Do not, under any other circumstances, Pix the enemy if you have Thunderlords and it is off cooldown, CD, and proccing Thunderlords will result in a Kill steal, or ks, unless there is no way your carry can capture the kill...unless you want to get flamed.

I cannot stress enough just how important it is to conserve Flash only until the most vital life-saving points. Proc at your own risk.

14.png  Ignite

Ignite is another very powerful spell, and a method to save a carry, for a support because it not only deals 70 - 410 true damage based on champion level for 5 seconds, it also reduces any healing done (including life steal, but not outside sources like Soraka's W, Sona's W, or Nidalee's E's healing abilities) to the target by 40% during that duration. Ignite also grants allies true sight of ONLY the ignited enemy.

The only time you should ever, in my personal opinion, have Ignite over Exhaust is when your team as a whole has plenty of CC abilities altogether (Lulu117.png, Volibear106.png, Lux99.png, Malphite54.png, Ekko245.png, etc).

An AA-E-Q-W-AA-Ignite combo is enough to scare away almost any pursuer except for a Volibear with a ready passive or any other tank if they can secure the kill, but chances will be much significantly lower since you've bursted a huge chunk of HP out of them and even slowed and polymorphed them.

Also, with prior expressed permission by the ADC to use Ignite for aggressiveness and get kills if your ADC is unable to followup for the cleanup and kill, Ignite can be used to kill the enemy in the same full burst AA-E-Q-W-AA-Ignite combo to seriously disable them, hopefully finishing them off.

Personally, I strongly prefer Exhaust over Ignite as a support for many reasons.

I do not recommend taking Ignite over Exhaust as support Lulu.

3.png Exhaust

Finally, the most commonly used spell by support players of every ELO is the dreadful Exhaust. Exhaust is a wonderful and overwhelming spell when appropriately timed and used because it slows your ally's victim's movement speed AND damage dealt by them is reduced by 40%. It is an excruciatingly crippling spell, but it can be wasted just much easier it is to use it wisely to destroy the enemy.

Only Exhaust when your carry can't make it out without nerfing the enemy's damage, engaging for an all-in, or slowing a high CC enemy who is engaging your escaping carry who will not get away without significant losses without the exhaust.

Like Flash, Exhaust has a high CD timer, so please use Exhaust very responsibly and at your own risk. Exhaust is also very important to proc on the enemy carry, almost always the enemy carry, during ganks.

Once again, use at your own risk.

Masteries Back to Top

Note:

This mastery page is what I use in the ranked games, and have gained high success with the pages. My win rate has been high this season, and despite being Silver I, as of this edit date, I am matched with players who were low plat to mid gold last season due to MMR.

CUNNING

latest?cb=20170501223110
Wanderer
  • +3% out-of-combat movement speed
  • Helps give a little boost for roaming, ganking, scouting/warding, or changing lanes with its tiny movement speed boost.

latest?cb=20170502015302
Secret Stash
  • Potions and Elixirs last 10% longer.
  • Regular Potions are replaced with Biscuits that instantly restore 15 Health and Mana on use.
  • This is useful only during the early game or while remaining super squishy (<1300HP with little or no protective gear).
  • Helps with sustain and lasting longer for the first back or for extended fights in the early laning phase.

latest?cb=20170501230604

Meditation

  • Regenerates 1.5% of missing Mana every 5 seconds.
  • Maintaining sustain with Lulu is necessary since she is ability and mana dependent as a support so building mana and mana regen items is a co-requisite for this mastery.
  • THIS IS NOT A REPLACEMENT OF ANY MANA/MANA REGEN ITEM!
  • Meditation goes a long way in the long run.

latest?cb=20170502030330
Greenfather's Gift

  • Stepping into bush causes the next basic attack or damaging ability to deal 3% of the enemy target's current health as bonus magic damage (9 second cooldown)
  • Great for bush control, zoning, poking, and harassing the enemy carry or the support if they are out of position or if they need to be poked down.
  • Great for Lulu's long rage auto attack or Glitterlance

latest?cb=20170501224323
Intelligence (My Personal Preference with Windspeakers)

  • The CDR cap increases to 45%
  • The initial CDR begins at 5%
  • This is very helpful because it allows Lulu to use her abilities 5% faster after already casting them in addition to increasing the CDR cap.
  • SHIELDS FOR DAYZZ
  • SHIELDS ON WHEELS
  • Great booster for the normal CDR support items.
  • SHIELDS

latest?cb=20151103094744
Windspeaker's Blessing
(For the babysitting of new ADCs, playing a little more defensively, or playing in a higher ELO in which Thunderlord's is no longer needed)

  • Lulu's heals and shields are 10% stronger
  • Lulu's heals and shields on allies increase their Armor by 5 - 22 (based on level) for 3 seconds
  • Lulu's heals and Shields on allies increase their Magic Resistance by half the increase of armor for 3 seconds
  • This is an good defensive keystone mastery for Lulu because her E is a shield
  • 20?cb=20151103094744Windspeaker's Blessing shield/heal boost multiplies with 20?cb=20170501093432Runic Armor mastery and the 20?cb=20130319091526Spirit Visage.
  • 20?cb=20170506222312Forbidden Idol, 20?cb=20170506222400Ardent Censer, 20?cb=20130710101718Mikael's Crucible, 20?cb=20161031094647Redemption, and 20?cb=20151103094744Windspeaker's Blessing's shield power booster add together.
  • These two abilities increase ally's defenses are increased with Windspeaker's Blessing, making Lulu a great choice for this keystone.
For more information for the defensive Lulu support build, please seek the bottom of this section, or view my mastery page list for "The Babysitter."

latest?cb=20151103094742
Thunderlord's Decree

(More effective in low ELO)

  • Hitting an enemy champion with a damaging ability or basic attack adds a of Thunderlord's Decree for up to 3 seconds.
  • At 3 stacks, the target is dealt 10 - 180 (BoL) + (30% bonus AD) + (10% AP) magic damage.
  • 25 - 15 (BoL) second CD.
  • The aggressive and normal keystone mastery used for Lulu in low ELO.
  • High early game kill potential, but not overwhelming.
  • Higher bursts, more noticeable harassment and poking, more successful zoning.
  • Lulu's passive does not add a stack of Thunderlord's....MUST BE ON-HIT AUTO ATTACKS!!

179.png

RESOLVE

latest?cb=20170501023809
Recovery

  • Grants 2HP Regen per 5 seconds passively.
  • Provides a small source of sustainability.
  • Allows for slightly faster healing if a trade-off was lost.

latest?cb=20170421021052
Siegemaster

  • Increases Armor and Magic Resistance by 8 under allied tower.
  • Helps curb the punishment of getting zoned, harassed, or poked under turret, or faced with a gluttonous enemy under ally turret.
  • Siegemaster has the potential to turn the tables in Lulu's favor contingent to the situation.

latest?cb=20170501093432
Runic Armor
(Heal/Shield Support Mastery Set)

  • Heals, shields, regens, and lifesteal on self are 8% stronger.
  • Multiplies stacks with 20?cb=20151103094744Windspeaker's Blessing, and 20?cb=20130319091526Spirit Visage.
  • Great self-defense mastery for tough situations and higher sustainability.
  • Helps mitigate incurring damage if focused on team fights.

latest?cb=20170501084351
Perserverance
(Heal/Shield Support Mastery Set)

  • +50% base HP Regen
  • Base HP Regen increases to +200% when below 25% HP.
  • Higher sustainability = longer runs = more money = better items faster
  • Important for Lulu because she does not naturally have a sustaining ability, besides a shield that must be primarily used for the carry.

Upon game start Q first. It has a slow and deals damage that allows aggressive poking. At level two, go for the shield if you are not doing an all-in at level two. Get Whimsy if you are immediately going for a level two all-in.

If you happen to be up against a Volibear106.png, Jax24.png, Lee Sin64.png, Camille164.png, or a jungler with high engagement or mobility, I recommend focusing on the W first in case of a level 2 or 3, but unlikely, gank...unless you and your carry are giving the enemy high lane pressure.

127.jpg

luluq.png Glitterlance

Glitterlance is, like all of her other abilities, a multi-use ability. The basic dynamics of the Glitterlance is that upon casting, Lulu fires a magic bolt and Pix fires a magic bolt, each that can deal an equal amount of damage and meet at a focal point (your mouse), but if a second bolt hits the same enemy, more damage is added onto the target to the indicated maximum on the description displayed when you hover your mouse over the Glitterlance iconGlitterlance.png in-game.Each bolts sent out will meet at your mouse, much like a Zed's WLiving Shadow.png / Qhttps://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/9/96/Razor_Shuriken.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/20?cb=20130929123514 combo, and even intersecting.

With the use of Pix (which happens to be your E abilityHelp, Pix!.png) being cast upon an enemy, ally, or any minion or neutral monster except for Baron Nashor, Rift Harold, or the Dragons, you can extend your Glitterlance poke to ward off the enemy (possibly distracting them from taking CS), send out a dual poke which will poke both the enemy ADC and support when they are separated, or simply used in your combos to do whatever burst damage you can on an enemy who gets too close to the line of scrimmage if you are low ELO with the Thunderlords keystone mastery.

Some sick math from http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Lulu:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Glitterlance
TARGET RANGE: 925
SPEED: 1500
COST: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 Mana
COOLDOWN: 7
Glitterlance

Active: Lulu and Pix, Faerie Companion.png Pix each fire a magic bolt towards the target point, dealing magic damage to the first enemy they pass through, reduced to 70% against enemies thereafter, and Slow icon slowing them by 80%, decaying over 2 seconds.

  • Magic Damage: 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+ 50% AP)
  • Reduced Damage: 56 / 87.5 / 119 / 150.5 / 182 (+ 35% AP)

Each bolt's first target takes full damage, while enemies hit by both take the highest damage between the two, or the difference between them depending on targeting priority.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick facts:
  1. Glitterlance is a projectile and will stop with Braum's shield and Yasuo's windwall

  2. Glitterlance is good for escapes.

  3. During escapes down your lane, E your minion and as it is near your pursuer, Q them to slow them down from a safer distance rather than just throwing out a Q.

  4. During a chase and your ally is close to the enemy but cant quite catch them, E that ally, Q the victim for easy slows.

179.png

luluw.png Whimsy

Your W, or Whimsy, is one of the worst omens to ever cast upon any assassin, ADC, or jungler. You can cast on the jungler to stop their ganks either before they happen or as soon as they try to engage for easy punishing and help waste their time.

As soon as you see an all-in with your carry, Whimsy the highest dps (damage per second) player who IS THE BIGGEST THREAT TO YOUR CARRY. Follow up with an exhaust just as soon as the polymorph is about to expire for added CC and decreased damage. DO NOT WASTE THESE ON THE ENEMY SUPPORT IF THE ENEMY CARRY IS ALIVE.

  • Shield Strength: 70 / 105 / 140 / 175 / 210 (+ 60% AP)

On Enemy Cast: Lulu sends Pix, Faerie Companion.png Pix to the target enemy dealing magic damage and granting True Sight icon true sight of them for 4 seconds.

COST: 100 Mana
COOLDOWN: 110 / 95 / 80
Wild Growth

Active: Lulu enlarges the target allied champion, Airborne icon knocking up units around them for 0.75 seconds, increasing their bonus health and causing them to Slow icon slow nearby units for 7 seconds.

  • Bonus Health: 300 / 450 / 600 (+ 50% AP)
  • Slow: 30 / 45 / 60%
179.png

Pix, Faerie Companion
EFFECT RADIUS: 2000
Pix, Faerie Companion

Lulu is assisted by Pix, a faerie, who fires a barrage of 3 bolts to her target every time she uses a basic attack against a unit, dealing 5 - 39 (based on level) (+ 5% AP) bonus magic damage with each bolt to the first enemy it hits, for a total of 15 - 117 (based on level) (+ 15% AP) bonus magic damage per basic attack. The bolts can be blocked by units in the way of Lulu's target.

Casting Help, Pix!.png Help, Pix! on an ally transfers Pix's help to them for the duration.

VS

Aatrox

Medium

As with all matchups, this is based on if you are Lulu support; therefore, it is based  on the reliance of allies to help protect you while you protect them....mostly you protecting them, especially the ADC. Matchups subject to change or edit because this is a newly added section to this guide.

Aatrox is a diver, based on his abilities, who can deal an extraordinary amount of damage in little time. If your carry is doing well and is ahead of Aatrox, you can Whimsy your carry. If he will not be able to take down the Aatrox without a form of cripple, polymorph the Aatrox. Most likely, an Aatrox player will not dive you and go all-in without a fully charged Blood Well.

Be sure to cripple Aatrox with polymorph to be safe, while shielding your ally and focusing on taking down Aatrox with your carry. He will dive, he will leave the fight, dead or alive, with plenty of damage on your lane if you are not careful.

After he uses his Blood Well after losing all of his HP, try polymorphing him again to cripple him down as much as possible to prevent your carry from taking as much damage as you can prevent.

If mid Aatrox roams to your lane with the carry and support there, do not engage without a jungler, instead play passively and very safely while pinging that Aatrox is in your lane so your mid laner can either choose to take some turret or roam to mid if he knows he can win you the bot lane fight.

VS

Ahri

Medium

As with all matchups, this is based on if you are Lulu support; therefore, it is based  on the reliance of allies to help protect you while you protect them....mostly you protecting them, especially the ADC. Matchups subject to change or edit because this is a newly added section to this guide.

It really depends with an Ahri.

She has high kill potential if he is able to land her charm and bursting abilities on your carry, but is just as easy to stop in her tracks with a simple polymorph.

Maintain the Whimsy on her if she is dangerously close to you or the carry and she intends to burst one of you down. It would be a good idea to shoot Glitterlance on her to slow her down since she is has a dash-type ult. It will allow for an easier escape for your carry if they are being chased by her.

I recommend building a 20?cb=20130710101718Mikael's Crucible or a 20?cb=20130319090622Locket of the Iron Solari and focus using it on your carry or yourself if one of you are her targets for an all-in to protect an ally from CC or burst damage respectively.

VS

Akali

Easy

As with any assassin, Akali has the potential to either destroy the target or screw up so bad the whole team flames her for a simple mistake.

Akali's W is her akalismokebomb.pngTwilight Shroud, which enables her to become invisible until she attacks, but is only visible for a short amount of time afterwards until the duration of the shroud has expired, but it's enough for any adept Akali player to kill her target if they stay in the shroud too long.

The best way to counter the shroud is to set a control ward at the edge of the shroud close to her target. She will become fully exposed. Another trick to do is to cast Pixlulue.png on her the moment she appears in the shroud. The ally team will be granted true sight of Akali until Pix returns. Only attempt to Pix her if your team is out of control wards to fish her out.

Once she is fished out, she will immediately try to fight her way to safety, throw a polymorph on her to maximize her punishment for attempting to shroud with a Lulu nearby.

If you have a control ward, casting Pix on her is pointless, instead, save Pix for an ally who will need it.

Ult her victim if they are getting low HP. An Akali player knows not to try to ult in and shroud to take out a Lulu who is not out of position because it will be fatal for her if others are around.

Notice To the Readers Back to Top

I'm currently doing full-time schooling and full-time working with two jobs, which limits me by far from being able to have a fully established in-depth guide. Once I'm able to describe my item builds, I hope this guide will be of great service to each and every one of you who plan to or are currently supporting with Lulu.

Currently working on matchups. This should take about a month or two to fully complete. (07/22/2017)

If you would like to take examples from my builds, please search DumpsterFairy for recent ranked and normal games to get an idea on what I build. Until then, I sincerely apologize for the delay in completing this guide to its fullest extent.
