Masteries Back to Top

Sorcery: You're a mage.

Feast: You need this more than you need the others.

Natural Talent: AP>Spell vamp

Oppressor: You have CC. Bounty Hunter is less useful until mid-late game.

-----

Intelligence: You need CDR.

Thunderlord's Decree: Stormraider is trash and Windspeaker is for supports.

Tips&Tricks

Illuminate

*It applies on enemies when you hit them with a spell except W.
*It explodes when you AA them or hit them with your ultimate and deal damage based on your level and AP
*It's a nice poking ability in lane, be sure to apply it as much as possible
*E+AA(passive applies too) makes Thunderlord's mastery apply. This is too strong at laning phase.

Light Binding

*Trick the opponent by sending it through ONE minion,it binds two units. Just ONE minion,or you will bind two minions instead of the opponent and leave you vulnerable
*Send it diagonally just like they do with Thresh hooks to confuse the opponents
*If you are getting chased, just press Q and walk away. Lux has no mobility, but you can still escape if you land your skillshots well.

Prismatic Barrier

*Always throw it to an ally even if they look like they don't need it, a surprise damage to them will be negated and it doesnt do anything negative to you since it always applies instantly to you when casted
*Always throw it in trades or when you need to last hit a minion in a risky position where the opponent can poke you

Lucent Singularity

*Throw it behind the enemy, they always go behind when they see you casting it so it will land easier. Throw it diagonally like you do with Q,too
*It gives vision, so you can check unwarded brushes or Baron/Dragon with it.
*When someone is chasing you (or a teammate) pop it when the enemy champion has almost made it out of the area, so that they get slowed more.
*Don't pop it early if;
-There are no enemy units inside. That's unnecessary. Who doesn't like free vision?
-Your team needs that vision. In example;
+You hit someone in an unwarded area with your Q,and your team needs to see that opponent so that they can land skills or hit AAs on it.
+You are going to try to steal an objective but have no wards

Final Spark

*You need to recall but dont want enemy to push? Use your ult to clear enemy minion wave. It has a short cooldown, don't be afraid!
*You can steal the Baron, the Dragon or the enemy's blue buff with it.
*Whenever you land a Q in lane, you may want to throw your ultimate just to have pressure them in lane,or force them to recall
*It's hard to land, so try to use it when the enemy is CCed
*Sniping kills with your ultimate feels good, but the proper usage of your ultimate is hitting as much enemies as possible.

VS

Ahri

Medium

Ahri,on paper, is a hard matchup for Lux. Three dashes may sound scary, but that doesn't really make stuff THAT hard. IMO this is a skill matchup.

VS

Akali

Easy

Save your Q to her dash. If you miss it, you die. If you don't and you have ult, she dies (if she's not going tanky)

Make her cry while farming with your E and AAs.

VS

Annie

Easy

You got a range advantage against her. But, don't push. It's too risky to push against an Annie, especially if you're an immobile mage a.k.a. Lux.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium

It's...strange. His spinny thingies aren't a big problem for you, but he can kill you with one stun. And guess what--YOU can kill him by landing one Q.

 Skill based matchup IMO

VS

Azir

Medium

It was previously one of the easiest matchups for Lux. But, Riot decided to nerf Lux's W and that hurt her. You can't walk around his dudes that much anymore, since you block less hits with your shield. You still have the range advantage.

VS

Brand

Easy

Range. Avoid his combo. It literally BURNS.

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

It's usually easy but a good snake will make the lady of luminosity cry. Don't get poisoned.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

Farm lane. You can't kill him without jungler.

VS

Diana

Hard

You win until 6. Then she starts winning if you don't stay safe. Try to turn it into a farm lane.

VS

Ekko

Medium

Skill matchup

VS

Fizz

Medium

He dodges stuff. But he can't farm against you.

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

You don't have to get in his turret's range. Plus, you can clear them easily.

VS

Katarina

Easy

People think that Katarina is a hard matchup for Lux, but it's too easy IMO. She is melee and can't farm against you. If you run Barrier, she will struggle to kill you without her jungler.

VS

Kayle

Easy

Is she even being played? You outrange her. Care her ult

VS

LeBlanc

Hard

She dodges things and kills you

VS

Lissandra

Medium

Skill matchup. Her ult is too good against you. Don't stay behind minions.

VS

Malzahar

Medium

You counter his E. Let it come to you from a minion and W yourself.

His new passive will make you go mad. I guarantee it.

VS

Orianna

Medium

Skill matchup

VS

Ryze

Easy

lol,range

VS

Talon

Medium

Skill matchup. Don't push too much or you will get killed everytime his jungler comes.

VS

Twisted Fate

Medium

Skill matchup

VS

Vel'Koz

Medium

Skill matchup

VS

Xerath

Medium

Skill matchup

VS

Yasuo

Hard

He's too mobile and has a wall that blocks all your skills except your ult. Yeah, it even blocks your W.

VS

Zed

Hard

Too mobile and loves eating immobile mages.

VS

Ziggs

Medium

Skill matchup

Pros & Cons Back to Top

PROS

-Range
You have ZERO mobility, but your range makes you be able to stay safe and have a few deaths.
-Utility
Even if you're behind, you may still help your team win, and even make game-changing plays if you're good at skillshots. I've done that a lot of times, saving my ADC by snaring two enemies chasing him, or making my team have a huge advantage by snaring enemy carries at teamfights.
-Roaming
Your roams are amazing, because you have CC,protecting ability, and burst. You may make game changing roams if you're Lux. I remember millions of games that my bot lane was too behind and I made them catch up by my roams.
-Objective stealing
Your ultimate. Simple enough. Plus, the enemy team will clear wards while taking Baron/Dragon but your E can't be blocked, so you always have sight of the objective.
-Filling mana quickly by Morello's passive.
You will always net 10+ assists. You may get free assists by your shield easily and that will help you refill your mana if you have Morello. And yeah, you will always get morello.

CONS
-You have no mobility.
-You're mana hungry.
