Summoner Spells Back to Top

I usually take the the first 3 listed:

12.pngTP for boring lanes or ones where you will get pushed out

3.pngExhaust against assassins like Yasuo, Zed, Talon

21.png or 7.pngBarrier against ranged burst like Syndra

1.pngCleanse only if their team has crazy CC like Liss

6.pngPure Utility, not a bad choice

Take E, W, Q first 3 lvls

Always max R>E>Q>W

malzaharpassive.png
Free banshees veil that goes lower in CD with levels. Be aggressive but not crazy with it on. Things like Thresh hook will still attach to you and he can reel in btw. It also blocks tower shots.

malzaharq.png
Super strong skill with dmg and silence, you can spam this in teamfights on anybody because what is a champ without skills? Although you want to be careful against people with mobility such as Yasuo. Think about what they want to do then aim. Try not to use this a lot until last chapter in lane. (Mainly use on tanks if they're up front, use to peel and zone for yourself and ADC, etc.)

malzaharw.png
Your minions are your main wave clear because it does bonus dmg to targets with malzahare.png and ARE ATTRACTED TO THINGS WITH malzahare.png ON IT. It starts off with 1 voidling but can go up to 3 with every spell cast. Use this to wave clear and try to use it when your enemy already used their wave clear so they don't instantly kill them (THESE DIE TO 1 AUTO AND MOST SPELLS). Always use with 2 stacks. Also this can block skillshots so drop it if a Blitzcrank is coming for a hook or something.

Small but important thing: Your combo will change slightly depending on how many stacks you have. If you have none you want to E>Q>W etc., and if you have 2 stacks you want to W>E>Q to min-max on your stacks. Also can block tower shots.

malzahare.png
Space aids. This spell is your core skill and your malzaharq.png and malzaharw.png revolve around it. The duration will reset if you cast malzaharq.png or malzaharr.png on someone who has it on. This combined with your malzaharw.png is your main wave clear so don't waste it in lane. Use it to last hit and try to have it spread because you get some mana back (not a lot). Always spam it off cooldown in teamfights and use it before you ulti.

malzaharr.png
This is what you're known for. You basically use this to kill or to freeze someone such as a diver. This ulti has nutty dmg to squishies and tanks thanks to its high ratios and % hp dmg. You have incredible gank assist with this at lvl 6 and try to use it off cooldown. Every ulti usually translates into a kill. Look for picks with pink wards and sweepers and don't be afraid to use it. It has a short CD with some CDR. Be careful when you ulti however since you stand still during the duration...

General rule is the I freeze, you freeze rule. This means that you both cannot move and most of the time you come out on top if it's a 1v1 or if you have your team. YOU ARE VERY VULNERABLE WHILE CHANNELING AND CAN BE INTERRUPTED. Watch your positioning as well when you ulti. Not advised if they outnumber you unless you are fed or you know you can turn a fight around. If you can kill them within 3-5 secs (with team it can be slightly longer) or save someone's life, use it.

Note: If they have a diver or high dive team, use it to peel for yourself/ADC. Also if the enemy has 3140.png be careful. Tab often and honestly don't be afraid to use it on them. Half the time they use it when it's almost over or use it on something else like your Q. (this applies to high gold and below but can still work, an example would be if someone is playing a highly mechanic champ and are focusing on their skills rather than you, you use this to interrupt them)

Starting Items

Core Items

YOU WANT THIS ONE FIRST BACK. You basically have infinite mana and can start shoving back.
This is your core set of items, go Morello>Rylai>Liandrys in that order. You start oneshotting here with combo, earlier if they have no mr
After that go either Void/Dcap and then the other
boots you want Sorc for dmg, Tabi against mainly AD, Merc if you need mr/ help against CC, rarely do I ever get Ionian but you can if you need flash and CDR a lot
I never build hourglass but if you REALLY need it, build it. Get armguard then finish core. Shouldn't really need it with your op passive

  • Yasuo

VS

Anivia

Easy

Very easy since they are both weak early. She should never beat you and you crush her after 6. Take TP

VS

Syndra

Hard

Honestly the hardest matchup IMO. Her Q can kill your voidlings easily, can pop your shield with no effort, and has plenty of CC with a 1 shot. You want barrier against her and a LOT of jungle help after 6. In teamfights, flash or surprise ulti her if you can.

VS

Vladimir

Easy

Hard early, easy once you get ulti. You basically keep him in checkmate with your Q and Ulti. He's better in teamfights but you contain him. Try not to die pre-6 with his empowered Q and maybe ignite. Take TP IMO

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Hard pre-6 if he knows what he's doing. He has insane early game so just wave clear. Once you get 6 you can easily beat him. Call for your jungler once you get ulti so he never gets relevant. His windwall can't stop your skills (don't use your Q on it...) so therefore you should beat him. If he has QSS it comes down to DPS in this case you win unless he has friends or has 3rd Q (Yasuo is weakest if his tornado wiffs). Try to aim your Q wisely usually on yourself if he E's through you. TAKE EXH

Combos Back to Top

E>Q>W>R is ideal, no stacks of voidlings

W>E>Q>R is if you have 2 stacks of voidlings already

You oneshot with core and a combo. Sometimes earlier if they have no mr.

Just ulti if the threat is high enough, but always try to get your E and W off before hand for maximum DMG.

Cool trick is to E caster minions, then Q to instantly clear them if the enemy midlaner is sitting near them. Usually catches them off-guard and free dmg.

Early, your E WITH VOIDLINGS shreds people so you might be able to cheese some people with that in mind.

Laning and roaming/splitting Back to Top

You want to start E, W, Q then max E. You aren't very strong pre 6 so be mindful of that. You just want to survive for lost chapter and lvl 6 essentially. You are secretly strong at lvl 2 with e and voidlings on an enemy champ. Once you're 6 you want to use your ulti. You can insta gib people around 75% in lane. Call for your jungler for ganks since it's super easy. You can roam too since you have good cc. You can trade but it mainly revolves around landing Qs (after lost chapter preferably), having voidlings attack with E, or resetting E with a Q on your enemy. Try to E casters, then Q them to have it spread to enemy laner as cheeky poke.

Early game: chill out since you kinda suck until 6
Mid game: look for picks and try to use ulti off cooldown. After core you can oneshot people. try to control the map and obj (sweeper and pinks pls)
Late game: ^ with peeling for your team

Please be mindful of positioning, very important with people champs with no gap closers.

You are very good at pushing, splitpushing, and therefore good at roaming. You want to use a combo above without the ulti of course and leave the lane to roam (or push a lane and then leave). Your voidlings and e will push for you if no one is nearby. You are good at splitting because you can basically 1v1 anyone in the game. TP to get to the fight and not straight into it btw.

Closing Thoughts Back to Top

You are a control mage. You want to get picks, stop divers, and peel when appropriate. You are good in 1v1s but good in teamfights too. Remember you are weaker early, ok with lost chapter, strong after 6, and godly after core and more. You play this champ to use your brain!!! Instead of thinking about combos and looking at your keyboard, you want to think about the game (since you have little mechanics). How do I win, what should I do, where do I position, what are my limits, what can I do. Remember that you can only control yourself and it's up to YOU to win.

Pros:
Strong champ that scales with time
A midlaner who pushes, has CC, and dmg
A free banshees veil with passive
Force your opponents to build a as to delay their builds
Low mechanics allowing you to think more about the game and not the champ

Cons:
Very vulnerable early
Positioning matters
Can lose 1v1s if they have qss and are strong enough
Good team fighter but not the greatest (you have to stand still with ulti)
