Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png is the most useful summoner spell for Master Yi in the mid lane. While in the top lane 6.png and 12.png will be more useful, the matchups in the mid lane will obligue you to act faster and in tighter spaces. Your enemy will always carry 4.png with him, so you cannot let him have this mobility advantage. Besides, 4.png allows you escape more easily since the mid lane is more vulnerable to ganks.

14.png will be your pick when you are sure you can get an easy kill before lv3. Champions like 161.png101.png and 99.png are very vulnerable in early levels and their escape depends on their skill to use their crowd controls, which you can dodge with alphastrike.png.

3.png will be your choice when your matchup is against champions very huge dps or dangerous burst. 268.png55.png and 238.png can poke you without much trouble and will force you to use meditate.png more often, which will give them a 35s window to kill you.

1.png will not be chosen often, but can be very useful against champions with reliable crowd control such as 1.png45.png and 127.png.

12.png and 6.png will only be used if you are going to need them in mid/late-game to split push.

21.png and 7.png will almost never be as useful as the other spells.

Masteries Back to Top

Most people would choose Fervor of Battle or Warlord's Bloodlust for Master Yi. That would not be a very witty choice against most matchups in the mid lane. Every champion in the mid lane will outrange you, so you will not have big enough windows to use the maximum potencial of both masteries.

Thunderlord's Decree will be useful in a few situations, specially if the enemy team is able to burst you very quickly. Analyse the enemy team's composition and your matchup.

Stormraider's Surge will be the most useful mastery in almost every matchup. It will allow you to use alphastrike.png to close the gap to your opponent, use wujustyle.png to increase the damage you will cause in these 2-3 basic attacks, gain the Move Speed and Slow Resistance to get back to your tower and heal with meditate.png. This give you great edges if you engage your opponent in lv1 or lv2, because few champions (103.png25.png or 10.png) will outsustain you and few will be able to return the damage you will cause (13.png63.png and 245.png are very likely to).
Keep in mind that you will need to control the minion wave to use this strategy. First, let your enemy push the wave. Then, freeze it in front of your tower. Do this in the first couple waves and you will give your opponent the following choice: 1 - Give you a creep advantage; 2 - Trade damage with you and lose. They will likely miss position while making the choice, giving you the chance to engage and harass them. Do this two or three times in the first 4 minutes of game and you will probably get a FIRST BLOOD or force your opponent to waste his/her summonner spells.

If you are against a champion that can poke you and win trades when you engage (1.png238.png and 7.png are likely to do so), try to level up meditate.png two or three times.

alphastrike.png is your priority because it will be your wave clearing, engage, crowd-control-dodging and harassment tool. It has a 18s cooldown, which means you have to level it up to reduce it as fast as possible.

wujustyle.png is likely to be your go-to skill after lv9, but you should level meditate.png up before if the enemy team is able to burst you during a team fight. Anyways, level meditate.png up at lv8 and you should be fine for the first couple team fights.

REMEMBER: ONLY USE highlander.png WHEN YOU ARE SURE YOU WILL GET THE KILL.
highlander.png has been nerfed in recent patches and this has reduced Yi's snowball capabilities. Since Yi is a snowballing champion, you need to be very clever when using your ultimate. You need to make sure you will have enough mana and that you will kill the enemy before the 7" buff expires. If the buff expires before you get the kill, do everything you can to stay alive (that is usually the time to use meditate.png) and to either protect your carry from assailants ("DEATH IS THE BEST CC!" - Malcolm Graves) or distract the enemy frontline. You still are a threat, but it is too risky to alphastrike.png the enemy backline. Wait for the perfect window to kill an enemy carry and do not miss the oportunity.

If you get the kill while Highlander is still active, make sure to stay alive, but be agressive and try to kill another priority target.

OBS: if you are against 157.png, DO NOT PANIC! Keep safe in lane and wait lv6. When you get highlander.png, 1v1 him and get the easy kill (DO NOT FORGET TO DODGE yasuoQ.pngyasuoR.png WITH alphastrike.png OR YOU WILL PROBABLY DIE)

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Corrupting potion will give you a damage boost in the early levels and help you outsustain your opponent's health potions. Besides, it helps you regenerate mana after lv4.
Take this if you are not going to win the matchup and need a lot of sustain during the mid game.
Take Cull if you are going to need a huge spike earlier in the game and the matchup is easy to win.

Core Items

General Core Build. Very useful against fragile targets.
If you are against a really tanky team and your matchup is hard to kill, use this build.

Situational Items

Guardian Angel will be necessary if the enemy team is bursting you too quickly. It can be your only defensive item or you can stack it up with Frozen Mallet, The Black Cleaver or Death's Dance.
If the game has not ended yet and you have already purchased the core build, go for one defensive item and one offensive item. You can use lifesteal with Magic Resist, two lifesteal items, anti-tank items or more critical chance items. Your choice.
These items can be used in very specific situations, but they are not as useful as the others.
Draktharr (first item) will give you a huge power spike in the early team fights and give you a strong pick-off potential in the early-mid game.

Berserker's Greaves are your go-to boots almost always. Their attack speed buff is as good as Statikk Shiv's, but the move speed is more useful than CRIT in the early-mid game.

Infinity Edge must be the second item to ensure you will still have tons of damage to cause. And Statikk Shiv (3rd) will give more wave clearing and burst potencial.

You could take 3078.png with 3053.png and 3156.png + 3046.png and 3071.png, but I am not a big fan of this build for the mid lane. It could be useful in the top lane if need to be a bruiser.

The only core build for the mid lane is 3147.png+3031.png+3087.png for the burst potencial. You will go for this build almost always, but some situations will force you to build the situational items above. It is up to you to decide which one will be the best in each situation.

VS

Ahri

Medium

You will have to dodge ahriseduce.png with alphastrike.png. BEWARE: ahriseduce.png OUTRANGES alphastrike.png!

ahriorbofdeception.png will be Ahri's main damage source to poke you, but you can dodge it fairly easily.

DO NOT USE highlander.png IF SHE HAS ahritumble.png! Try to force her to use ahritumble.png to escape and make sure it is on cooldown when you all-in her. highlander.png+wujustyle.png will be fundamental to kill her before ahrifoxfire.png and ahriorbofdeception.png damage you too much.

Keep in mind that she heals with ahripassive.png and meditate.png will waste a lot of mana.

VS

Akali

Medium

Akali's kit is very useful for her to harass you with akalimota.png+akalishadowswipe.png while hiding in akalismokebomb.png on the following second. Try to abuse of her lack of damage and escape in the first couple levels with alphastrike.png+wujustyle.png+masteryipassive.png combos. This will give you the chance of killing her before she becomes a nightmare.

After lv6, her combo will be much more dangerous. Make sure you have a pink ward and meditate.png if you intend to 1v1 her.

VS

Anivia

Easy

Anivia is a pain in the heart to play against after lv6, but she is (pardon the pun) a sitting duck in the first couple levels.

Let her push the lane and all in her after she exposes herself. Beware flashfrost.png (it outranges alphastrike.png) and take out aniviapassive.png before lv3 or her jungler will be able to cover her and give her the time to outscale you.

VS

Annie

Hard
1.png is a nightmare. Though the matchup is skill-based, she has an edge over you. disintegrate.png has a lower cooldown than alphastrike.png and she will control the minion wave while poking you easily. If you all in her, you will take tons of damage from the minion wave and her skills. Your best case scenario is a lv1 first blood. All the mistakes you make while trading will be very punished by anniepassive.png and after lv6 infernalguardian.png will give her the ability to kill you easily.

Do not panic, but respect the little girl's firepower.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Easy
136.png has a lot of control over the minion wave, but you can close the gap to him with alphastrike.pngaurelionsolQ.png will hardly hit you if you are clever and Aurelion's escapes will rely entirely on 4.pngaurelionsolR.png or 3116.png. Position yourself well and he will be your breakfast to snowball the game.

VS

Brand

Hard
63.png outranges you and is able to stun you easily with brandblaze.png. You will have to wait brandfissure.png to be in cooldown if you intend to skirmish in the early levels. If you do not kill him before lv3, prepare for a 30" nightmare.

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium
69.png can prevent you from using alphastrike.png with cassiopeiamiasma.png and stun you with cassiopeiapetrifyinggaze.png if you get too close. The good news is she is slow in the beggining of the game and very fragile. Kill her as much as you can before lv6 and always dodge cassiopeianoxiousblast.png!

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard
31.png is hardly predictable. Before lv3, you will have an edge against him and I advise you use it to 1v1 him and try to get a first blood. Regardless of what happens during the first 5 minutes, 31.png will outscale you during the entire game.
This little big knightmare will only end after you get an MR item and a life item and, still, you will have to be very cautious while engaging 31.png's backline. His combo can easily burst you and the only way you can outsmart him is to dodge feralscream.png with alphastrike.png and rupture.png by moving. BEWARE feast.pngmeditate.png DOES NOT REDUCE ITS DAMAGE!

VS

Corki

Easy
42.png is mobile, has good range and a lot of damage, but 11.png can outsmart his damage with a well-timed alphastrike.png to dodge phosphorusbomb.png or to catch him during carpetbomb.png.

42.png will still have power spikes after lv6, but a solid laning phase against him will give 11.png the items he needs to chase and eliminate Corki regardless of the situation.

VS

Diana

Hard
131.png has a lot of damage, skirmishes very well from lv3 on and scales very well. Still, Yi's early game is stronger and she does not have tools to escape. You need to take advantage of your kit and dodge dianaQ.png with alphastrike.png to ensure kills in the early game. Also, consider building MR with life steal to duel her in the late game.

VS

Ekko

Hard
245.png (aka Neymar) can outsmart 11.png in many ways. Ekko can use ekkoQ.png to poke you at mid range and, if alphastrike.png him and all in, he will use ekkoE.png and ekkoW.png to escape while hitting you with ekkopassive.png. His trades are very strong during the whole game and his lane phase is very dangerous. If you play defensively, he can be agressive and try to kill you with 14.png in his third engage.

To prevent death (which will give him a very dangerous edge), use a lot of sustain and make very short trades. If you are able to trade him and escape before he strikes you with ekkopassive.png, you will have a chance to kill him. Also, BEWARE ekkoR.png FOR IT CAN TURN THE TABLE IN HIS FAVOR! MAKE SURE HE DOES NOT HAVE IT IF YOU INTEND TO KILL HIM IN A 1V1. Also, do not try to chase him and NEVER (EVER) DUEL HIM IF YOU ARE UNDER 70% OF HEALTH.

VS

Ezreal

Easy
81.png is a very safe champion and can harass you easily during the lane phase. However, he lacks wave clearing tools in his kit and you can easily dodge ezrealmysticshot.png (his main damage source) or outsmart ezrealarcaneshift.png (his escape) with a well-timed alphastrike.png
Also, 81.png is easy to kill and has no tools to survive your all-ins.

Keep in mind that 3025.png will give him a power spike to kite you. If he builds AP, however, you should use meditate.png to survive his burst and use alphastrike.png to dodge ezrealtrueshotbarrage.png or ezrealessenceflux.png (the main sources of damage of the AP 81.png).

VS

Fiddlesticks

Hard
9.png is like 1.png, but a little less scary. He can outsustain you with drain.png, harass with fiddlesticksdarkwind.png and deny your alphastrike.png+wujustyle.png+masteryipassive.png combo with terrify.png. Luckly for you, you can control the wave more effectively, recover a portion of health with meditate.png and abuse his in the first 3 minutes of game. Try to get first blood and start to roam. If 9.png is lv6, roam and try to pick him off in the jungle. If he does not accompany your roaming, you can secure dragon with your jungler, invade the enemy jungle or tower dive a vulnerable lane. If you stay in lane while 9.png, you might be killed with a crowstorm.png+terrify.png+fiddlesticksdarkwind.png+drain.png combo. Also, if you try to 1v1 9.png and use highlander.pngterrify.png will simply make you run away.

VS

Fizz

Easy
105.png is an easy matchup for you. Though fizzpassive.png will deny part of your basic attack's damage, 105.png lacks the wave clearing tools he needs to prevent you from outfarming and snowballing the lane. You can tower dive him fairly easily by using alphastrike.png to escape and outsmart him very easily (even after lv6) with a well-timed alphastrike.png in a minion. If 105.png all-ins you, meditate.png will deny his damage and recover your life and you will have a large window to trade back much more damage. Just do not die doing stupid things like 2v1 105.png and his jungler and you should be fine for the rest of the match.

VS

Galio

Medium
3.png can give you a hard time, especially after lv6. His lane phase if very safe and he can use galiobulwark.png to regenerate his life during trades. Make sure you have 100 MR before trying to 1v1 him after lv6 for galioidolofdurand.png can turn the table against you and leave vulnerable while galiobulwark.png keeps him alive.

During the lane phase, watch out for galioresolutesmite.png and galiorighteousgust.png. These skill shots out range you and will give 3.png a mobility edge. I suggest you split push him or get some defensive items right after 3147.png and1018.png/3086.png.

VS

Gangplank

Easy
41.png has tons of damage and mobilty, but you can outsmart his parley.png or raisemorale.png with alphastrike.png or meditate.png. If you are able to, you close the gap with alphastrike.png after 41.png uses gangplankpassive.png. Chansing and eliminating 41.png is a matter of skill and builds. He might escape you sometimes, but he will never kill you if you are witty enough. 3.png will help you skirmish him in every moment of the game.

VS

Gragas

Medium
79.png will hardly appear in the mid lane against you. Anyways, try do dodge gragasbodyslam.pnggragasexplosivecask.png and gragasbarrelroll.png with alphastrike.png. Gragas will have decent damage and sustain, so your best bet is to roam and secure the dragon or snowball in another lane. Beware his crowd control during team fights and try to split push. Laning phase should not be very hard for either of you.

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium
74.png is a little pain in the heart. alphastrike.png can help you destroy h28gevolutionturret.png, but will leave you vulnerable to ch1concussiongrenade.png and hextechmicrorockets.png. Also, 74.png has more wave control than you do. Make sure you bring a lot of sustain to the lane and do not take many risks. meditate.png and alphastrike.png will help you survive lane phase and, if you are smart, get some kills in the frst 3 minutes of game.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium
59.png has tons of damage early on and can kill you easily in early levels. jarvanivdragonstrike.png allows him to harass you and, though his jarvanivdemacianstandard.png+jarvanivdragonstrike.png combo is easy to dodge, he has damage enough to 1v1 you with his basic attacks and win. BEWARE jarvanivcataclysm.png! USE meditate.png TO COUNTER ITS DAMAGE. Still, this is a skill matchup and the smartest player will get the first blood and snowball the lane.

VS

Jayce

Easy
126.png can be outsmarted by alphastrike.png, but meditate.png will hardly be enough to counter his full combo. Abuse his weak early game by controlling the wave, dodging his pokes and harassing him with alphastrike.png+wujustyle.png+masteryipassive.png. You are very likely to get kills in the early game and snowball before 126.png recovers.

VS

Karma

Medium
43.png is very safe against 11.png. She has good wave control (and outranges you) with karmaheavenlywave.png. Also, karmasoulshield.png+karmaspiritbond.png combos can prevent you from harassing her with alphastrike.png+wujustyle.png+masteryipassive.png combos. Yet, she is not likely to kill you because meditate.png denies her combos as well.

VS

Karthus

Easy
30.png might look dangerous with defile.png and wallofpain.png, but he is weak in the early game and takes a long time to scale. This means you have about 10 minutes to 1v1 and kill him many times in lane + 10 minutes to roam and secure dragons or towers.

As long as you are able to dodge laywaste.png by moving, you will be fine. If you find yourself in trouble and 30.png uses fallenone.png or a spree of laywaste.png, use meditate.png and you will be fine.

VS

Kassadin

Easy
38.png is weak in the early game and his combos can be outsmarted by you easily. If he uses nulllance.png, use alphastrike.png to dodge and counter attack. If he uses riftwalk.png+forcepulse.png, use meditate.png to deny his burst. 38.png is a melee champion, so you will have no trouble while trading with him in the early game.

After lv6, riftwalk.png will grant 38.png strong roaming capabilities, but you should not have much trouble to follow him and pick him of in the jungle. alphastrike.png can outplay riftwalk.png if well-timed.

VS

Katarina

Medium
55.png can harass you with bouncingblades.png+killerinstinct.png and escape trades with shadowstep.png. In lv6, deathlotus.png will grant her the damage she needs to kill you in a 1v1. Take 3.png and use meditate.png wisely during the lane phase. If you control the wave properly, you will prevent her from farming in the first 3 minutes of game or kill her because you have more damage.

55.png can be a nightmare in team fights. Make sure you have the tools to counter her before engaging.

VS

Kayle

Hard
10.png can outrange, outsustain and outplay you after she hits lv3. You have a 3 minute window to kill her (which might be hard if she is a good player) if you want to have a less troublesome lane phase.

kayleE.png will allow her to outrange you and to have the same damage output. kayleQ.png will prevent your escape and kayleW.png will give her the escape and the sustain she needs to survive the lane phase.

Bring as much sustain as you can and 1v1 her to force her to abuse her mana. If she runs out of it and you still have sustain items, you will have a favorable 1v1 window.
kayleR.png WILL MAKE YOU WORTHLESS IN TEAM FIGHTS IF WELL USED. Try to outsmart her and kill a carry without kayleR.png or after it expires.

VS

Kennen

Hard
85.png has tools to stun you, outplay you in trades and have more impact during team fights. You should bring some sustain, rush lv6 and roam. Kennen is kind of vulnerable to pick offs in the jungle, but is also very good at fighting for objectives. Split push is your best alternative, but 11.png outscales him in the early and in the late game.

VS

Kha'Zix

Easy
121.png is a rare matchup in the mid lane. Yet, is is simple. He will be weaker than you during the whole game you can easily 1v1 him using meditate.png to stop his burst. After he gets lv6, khazixR.png will allow him to surprise you or escape trades. Use your advantage in wave control and roaming potencial to snowball him.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy
96.png will only go to the mid lane if he builds AP. While the AP 96.png scales well and has good damage output, he is a sitting duck against 11.png. Just control the wave and kill him. kogmawbioarcanebarrage.png will give 96.png the range he needs to get creeps at long range, but he will probably get a little exposed. Also, your roaming is better than his and you can pick him off easily in the jungle. Snowball him by outplaying kogmawvoidooze.png with alphastrike.png and dodging kogmawlivingartillery.png with the move speed buff given by highlander.png.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium
7.png is the infamous queen of mid lane in the early game. Few can withstand her lane dominance and roaming power. 11.png, however, has meditate.png to grant him sustain in lane and to protect himself from 7.png's burst.

As long as you dodge her skills using alphastrike.png, you will be fine on lane. Later on, try not to let her kill you.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium
64.png is an odd pick for the mid lane, but his mobility and early game damage can be troublesome if you do not dodge it properly. Keep in mind that his blindmonkqone.png can hurt you a lot and that you can resist his burst with meditate.png. Buy pink wards to prevent him from escaping with blindmonkwone.png and you will be able to chase him with alphastrike.png and highlander.png.

VS

Lissandra

Hard
127.png will force you to bring 1.png to the lane, so she will have an edge over you during the whole game. lissandraR.png can simply delete your impact in team fights and leave you very vulnerable to ganks during the lane phase.

Your best hope is to freeze the lane without letting her freeze you (pardon the pun). lissandraQ.png will allow her to harass you and farm at a distance, so your wave control in the early game must be perfect if you intend to get a kill or farm advantage over her. From lv6 on, roam. Staying in lane will be too risky.

VS

Lulu

Hard
117.png is 11.png's worst nightmare. luluw.png can anulate any impact you might have on the team fights, lulue.png+luluw.png will allow her carry to kite you easily and her clear wave with luluq.png (despite the nerfs) is very efficient. You will have a very hard time trying to kill her in the early game and she can easily stop you later on.

Split pushing will be the best alternative. Her roaming is efficient and so is her 1v1 potencial with lulur.png. She will probably take 12.png with her, so do the same and do your best to split push.

VS

Lux

Easy
99.png is fragile, her only tool to stop you is luxlightbinding.png (which you can dodge with alphastrike.png), luxprismaticwave.png will not give her enough shield during a short trade and you outplay her luxlightbinding.png+luxlightstrikekugel.png+luxmalicecannon.png burst combo with meditate.png. You should have no trouble snowballing the game.

VS

Malzahar

Hard
90.png will force you to bring 1.png with you, so he will have a better 1v1 potencial in the early game. Luckly for you, the first 3 minutes will give you a window to kill him. Afterwards, you will have to roam. 90.png is able to harass you easily and you will run out of pots very quickly.

VS

Master Yi

Medium
11.png has tools to counter himself. Since this matchup is mirrored, the better player will win.

VS

Mordekaiser

Medium
82.png has tons of damage and a strong shield. Wait mordekaisermaceofspades.png to be in cooldown before using your alphastrike.png+wujustyle.png+masteryipassive.png combo and you should be fine. Consider running Warlord's Bloodrage in this matchup.

VS

Morgana

Medium
25.png has better clear wave and tools to disengage you. She is a very safe pick and morganapassive.png gives her a lot of sustain. If she hits you with darkbindingmissile.png, use meditate.png to mitigate tormentedsoil.png. Your roaming is better and you can pick her off in the jungle. If she brings 12.png, she will not have many tools to survive a pick off. Dodge darkbindingmissile.png and use all your skills to kill her before she stuns you with soulshackles.png.

VS

Orianna

Easy
61.png has tools to harass you and escape from your chase, but all her combos can be outplayed by a well timed alphastrike.png and she will be helpless. In lane, she will be very safe. Out in the jungle, she is your prey. Roam, pick her off, tower dive bot lane and snowball the game.

VS

Ryze

Medium
13.png has tools to escape from you and meditate.png might not be enough to burst him. Abuse his weak early game and create a large snowall before he gets 3027.png and 3048.png.

VS

Swain

Easy
50.png has a weak early game and alphastrike.png outplays swainshadowgrasp.pngswainbeam.png can give a hard time to engage him, but you have more damage before lv6. After he gets 3010.png, start to roam. Without a minion wave, he will not be able to 1v1 you. Also, he lacks the mobility to neutralize your roaming.

VS

Syndra

Easy
134.png will try to knock you back with syndraE.png and harass you with syndraQ.png. Use alphastrike.png to dodge syndraE.png and meditate.png to resist syndraR.png. You will have enough damage to tower dive and kill her if you bring 14.png.

VS

Taliyah

Hard
163.png has enough mobility to have a safe laning phase and taliyahW.png gives her the crowd-control she needs to stop you from killing her. Also, she is able to roam and to pick you off if you split push. Your best bet is to flank her during team fights and catch her team off guard.

VS

Talon

Medium
91.png is dangerous. His snowballing power is bigger than yours, but your lane phase is much better. On my experience, it is not a good idea to take risks against him in the lane phase. Therefore, do not tower dive and beware ganks. His roaming is stronger (especially after he gets 3117.png) and talonshadowassault.png allows him to escape easily.

Try to do a better job at assassinating priotiry targets of the enemy team. You will not 1v1 him unless talonshadowassault.png is on cooldown.

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy
4.png can only protect himself from you with pickacard.png and, still, you can dodge it with alphastrike.png. He is helpless against your lane phase. Do not split push during the game. Team fight and pick off to get objetives. It is a fairly easy snowball.

VS

Urgot

Easy
6.png is very weak in the early game and the only way he can stop you from killing him is urgotswap2.png. Dodge his urgotplasmagrenade.png+urgotheatseekingmissile.png and you will be fine.

VS

Varus

Medium
110.png has a lot of range, so engaging him with alphastrike.png may be hard during the lane phase. Also, varusr.png outranges alphastrike.png and it will leave you very exposed. meditate.png can protect you, but varuse.png denies a great portion of your heal. Flanking during team fights and split pushing are you winning conditions against him.

VS

Veigar

Easy
45.png has some mind game when duelng Yi. You can dodge or deny most of his damage with alphastrike.png or meditate.png and veigareventhorizon.png might not stun you if you are smart enough. This little evil master can be easily defeated if you are smart enough not to give him free kills.

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy
161.png can and will poke you at long range, but you will be OK if you dodge velkozE.png and velkozpassive.pngvelkozR.png can be dangerous, but highlander.png gives you the mobility to dance around him while he ults. He will be a sitting duck if you dodge his crowd-control.

VS

Viktor

Medium
112.png has tons of damage in the late game and might stop you from doing anything after 30 minutes of game. His early game, however, is very weak. Abuse it, get kills and snowball the game before he gets too strong. He will no catch you in his viktorgravitonfield.png if you are smart enough.

VS

Vladimir

Easy
8.png has a lot of sustain, but his laning phase is weak and you outscale him after the mid game. You can either split push or team fight without much trouble since he has no crowd-control to stop you. Just keep in mind he has a lot of heal and might be hard to kill. Leave him as a secondary target in team fights.

VS

Xerath

Easy
101.png has very long range, but his only way of preventing you from deleting him is xerathmagechains.png. Dodge it and he will be a sitting duck. Get hit by it and he will cause tons of damage. This is a skill matchup, but you have advantage during the whole game.

VS

Yasuo

Easy
157.png has a stronger laning phase, but will lose much of his 1v1 power after lv6. From lv6 on, you will kill him easily and snowball the game. Just do not give him kills in the early game. It is OK to fall behind in farm against him.

VS

Zed

Medium
238.png will give you an interesting skill matchup. It will all depend on your skill to dodge or anulate his damage with meditate.png or alphastrike.png. When zedW.png is on cooldown, you will have a 14-24s window to trade back the damage he might have caused.

VS

Ziggs

Easy
115.png can be boring with his pokes, but his only way to escape you (ziggsw.png) can be outplayed by alphastrike.png. He is a sitting duck in 1v1s and ziggsr.png can be outplayed by meditate.png. You should have no trouble against him in every momento of the game.

VS

Zilean

Hard
26.png is very safe and has a lot of clear wave. Do not hope to kill him, just roam. You can either pick him off in the jungle or tower dive another lane. It is an easy snowball, but he will give a lot of trouble later on in the game. chronoshift.png can safe you priority target, timewarp.png can give your target the move speed to run away from you and his timebomb.png+rewind.png+timebomb.png can turn the tables of a team fight. Be smarter than him or split push.

General playstyle Back to Top

11.png is a high risk high reward champion. He can snowball a late game mage, 1v1 assassins and melt any champion without tons of armor or crowd-control.

He is very strong in the 4 minutes of game, but becomes weaker during the mid game than most mid lane champions if he does not get an early kill.
Fortunately, he has a very strong potencial in the game, because he will outscale the champions with stronger early game and his ability to split push or eliminate a late game carry relies entirely on your skill. Yes, you can split push and 1v1 24.png39.png114.png and 23.png if you have the skill (and the correct build) to outplay them.

As I said before, use your high damage potential to secure kills during the early game. If you fail to do so, you can either split push or team fight more carefully. You will not have a very good pick-off potential when you are behind in gold, but will be able to bait the enemy team, burst their carry or simply disrupt team fights with your meditate.png.

While split pushing, do not all-win try to harass your opponent, retreat and reengage. This tactic is to ensure you will be able to all win and kill your opponent using highlander.png and wujustyle.png after taking out 30-40% of his/her lifebar.

If you do everything correctly, you will get one or two kills in the mid lane. After you buy 3147.png, start to roam and pick off fragile enemies. Tanks will not be tanky enough yet, bruisers will not have enough damage to 1v1 you and the enemy carrys are sitting ducks. Roam with your jungler to secure dragon buffs, tier 1 towers and the Rift Herald. If you snowball correctly, you should have  3147.png3006.png and 3031.png by the 20' mark. By that time, team fights will be more dangerous to you and the enemy team will try to kill you at any cost if you engage them. Try to pick them off, steal their jungle buffs and to fight for the dragons. From the 20' mark to the 30' mark, you will still have an edge during team fights if you flank the enemy team or they waste all their crowd-control in someone else. ALWAYS kill the carrys first. You are an assassin, not a bruiser. You want to play like 38.png or 56.png would: kill the carry, kill the other carry and try to get out alive. If you do get these kills, you will likely be able to meditate.png and chase afterwards. If the enemy carrys escape, use meditate.png and try to get out alive. You will probably have another chance during the same team fight or in the aftermath.

IF YOU DID EVERYTHING WRONG, DO NOT PANIC!!!11.png will scale wheter you feed or not. Resist the enemies' siege and wait the moment when you are able to burst the enemy carry in 1". You do not have to get pentakills, you just have to kill the carrys.
