Summoner Spells Back to Top

11.png   is something you need to jungle effectively so this goes on without any double that 1 of your summoner spell will always be smite
4.png is something that i recommend for new and learning Master Yi players once you get used to his kit you can use other summoner spells.
6.png is something that works really well on Master Yi these days because of the highlander nerfs this allows you to close the gap between  you and your opponents without you using highlander.png your Ultimate too early.Once you get familiar with Yi's kit and some of the matchups i highly recommend that you take 6.png

12.png is something i loved to run on Yi before all the nerfs it is still vaible but you need to have a lot of game knowledge and a very high skill cap on Yi to run teleport this summoner spell is high risk reward so its upto you if you want it or not.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Start Machete with no health pots its a special type of clear i'll explain it later in my guide
    First back buy this
2nd Back get these or Bloodrazor if u got a kill

Core Items

Start Bloodrazor get a bork as fast as you can than rush cleaver this is the core build and it can shred tanks quite easily
Mercury Treads if they have Sanres roots and a lot of hard CC that can deny you in fights Ninja Tabi if they have 3+ AD champs that rely on there auto attacks Swiftiness if they have no escapes other than flash and no or very little CC
QSS if the enemy team has a jungler like Warwick or they have a Malzhar or Lissandra mid or a Morgana supp whose binding keeps hitting you. Pink wards always keep them on you if enemy team has a fed akali or Kha'zix or Shaco Sterak's gage is something you get when the enemy team is nuking you down super fast Note you need to skip black cleaver if you are in either of these situations you can build QSS or Gage then go Cleaver
My average full game build vs a balanced team looks like this

Situational Items

Your last 2 items should be 2 of these because of the meta you can't go full AD or Dmg
    Need MR?

This is tank meta so going full AD and full crit builds will highly likely end in a auto defeat so its better if you just follow the meta.

VS

Akali

Easy

One of the most feared champs at low elo and quite hard to kill if  you don't buy pink ward so make sure you have 1 of these so you can 1v1 her easily or gank her

VS

Alistar

Hard

You can Q his combo when he starts using W on you use your Q you'll still get CC'ed but at low elo his Q won't hit you because he'll cast it instantly.

He can ruin so many things for you in a team fight because of the Highlander nerfs you need to have Flash in this matchup because if he Headbutts you out of the fight with your Highlander on it'll get wasted and you'll probably lose the fight

VS

Amumu

Easy

One of the easiest matchups in the current meta you do 4x the dmg he does if he goes pure tank and his harder to kill make sure you get a early QSS  before Cleaver.
Also you once you get the hang of Yi you can use Q  on his R 90 percent of the time if you have enemy creeps around or you stay close to him

VS

Annie

Medium

Can make your life really hard whenever you engage make sure she doesn't have her stun up or her ultimate for the fact or she can 100 0 you if you have no MR

VS

Blitzcrank

Medium

He can ruin your team fights if you don't use your Q at the right time he can displace you from a team fight pretty easily and because of the highlander nerfs your ultimate will run out of time leaving you vulnerable

VS

Ekko

Easy

One of the most played champs at low elo you can easily dodge his stun with your Q and he is no match for your damage so don't be afraid to 1v1 this guy if u are even.

VS

Elise

Easy

Her early game ganks are way better than yours but she's pretty easy to 1v1 once she has burnt most of her cooldowns just tell your team to play safe early and you'll be good after 12-15 mins

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

One of the most annoying matchups to play against because of his 2.25 seconds fear highly recommend getting QSS after your blade so you can 1v1 him super easy engage on him let him use Q on your QSS it and kill him pretty simple

VS

Fizz

Easy

People are scared of this champ at low elo but once he uses his E he's quite vulnerable and  you can kill him super easy with your Red Smite active one more thing if he uses his R on you wait for the shark to come out and bite you once the animation starts use your Q  you will still get the damage but you won't get CC'ed by it which gives you a fighting chance.

VS

Gragas

Easy

The only thing he can do is run away from you he can in no way win a 1v1 vs a Yi so you're good but his early ganks are pretty good so watch out keep track of where he is in the jungle and ping your team mates :)

VS

Graves

Medium

A skilled graves can cause you great trouble if he gets ahead but after 18mins in game he's no match to you so try not to give him a advantage early game

VS

Hecarim

Medium

In the current meta i suggest you ban him not because he can kill you in a 1v1 because his ganks and early game damage is ridiculous which makes him a threat to your team although you can pick him 1v1 he can't 1v1 you once you have your 3153.png

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

One of the hardest champions to gank in lane if you are gonna gank him make sure you do before zhonyas and if he uses his R with Q and puts down the big turret try to smite that turret down first to make sure you and your laner doesn't die to it don't underestimate his damage

VS

Irelia

Medium

She has 2 second stun once she puts 5 ranks in her E ireliaequilibriumstrike.png she can make you lose a fight if you get stunned for 2 seconds so it is good if you have a QSS 3140.png during your fights against her team

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

There's no way on earth he'll win a 1v1 with Yi unless he's at a advantage so you're good

VS

Jax

Hard

This matchup depends on a various factors if your opponent picked jax to coutnerpick you than you're good but if he's a OTP (One trick pony) Jax you are done.
You can 1v1 a jax early on in game but the key is to take minimum to zero dmg while he uses his E .The trick to do that is you either get out of his vision using a bush so he can't use his Q on you or you start using meditate once you channel your meditate you'll take pretty low dmg after a second of your Meditate use your alpha strike Q this will help you dodge his stun from his E this technique takes some time to master so at first i suggest you use Flash in this matchups and flash away. Btw if he's playing top you can easily win the 1v1 because of your Red Smite active and if he's jungle and he went Blue Smite you still have better odds of winning the 1v1 if you resist damage the time he uses his E so this matchup depends on how skilled you are on Master Yi.

VS

Kennen

Easy

Can ruin your fight if so get QSS 3140.png

VS

Kha'Zix

Hard

Can be one of the hardest matchups for Yi if your team lacks CC and you don't buy and keep Pink wards with you because this is the only guy that can kill you at level 6. He has enough damage at 6 to kill you and he'll resist most of your damage using his invisibility from his R  so make sure you have a pink around when he tries to 1v1 you and during this 1v1 save your Q only use it when he tries to Leap away using E or tries to go near a wall to use Flash not before not after it has to be perfect or he'll walk away.
Highly recommend taking Flash  in this matchup

VS

Kindred

Medium

She can ruin your team fights so make sure someone from your team zone's her or that you engage on her while her team is not around so you can get her R out so when the fight breaks out she doesn't save her team and ruins your highlander resets.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

He can't 1v1 you so unless he's ahead of you

VS

Lee Sin

Easy

Only his early game ganks are a threat or he can kick you away from a fight for that you can save  your Q and use it the exact moment you see the animation for his kick starts. It'll get cancelled and he'll have to cast it again it gives you a lot of time to do more damage and most of the time kill him.
Highly recommend Flash in this matchup

VS

Malphite

Easy

With your true dmg he's quite easy to kill + you can Q his R with quite ease just keep your eyes open and don't use Q unless there's a kill or for a escape

VS

Malzahar

Easy

get 3140.png  or 3026.png  otherwise you are doomed

VS

Master Yi

Easy

After this guide you'll be a way better yi than yi's on blind pick so don't worry.

VS

Nidalee

Easy

Pick 4.png in this matchup and save your alphastrike.png until she tries to jump off over a wall using her cougar form W to follow her with your Alpha Strike.

VS

Nocturne

Easy

Super easy to 1v1 the trick is to know when started his E  watchout for the animation after almost 2 seconds you'll get feared So what you have to do is keep auto attacking him and the moment you are about to get feared use your Q and you're good he's done.

VS

Nunu

Easy

The only thing he can do is counter jungle you there's no way he can 1v1 you you can take out his whole team easily because he has no hard CC

VS

Olaf

Easy

Easy to 1v1 the trick is to save your Q till the end when he's about to deliver the killing blow with his Q or E use your Q it'll get him for sure.

VS

Pantheon

Easy

One of the most annoying champs early game he falls off after 20 mins but do not take him 1v1 before 20 mins atleast always have a team mate with you because he can block 3+ of your auto attacks that is like most of your dmg output

VS

Quinn

Easy

Her blind can be a pain in the a** try to save your Q  and use it when she tries to blind you.

VS

Rammus

Easy

People are usually scared of him but if he taunts you while his team still trying to catch up just engage him you'll get him 1v1 for sure 3071.png 3153.png3140.png will help you kill him and win this matchup. He's pretty weak compare to you while jungling

VS

Rek'Sai

Easy

She can get super tanky and run from you but she is no match for a 1v1 with YI

VS

Rengar

Easy
3364.png get this + put down a 2043.png whenever trying to take a objective and he's done.

VS

Sejuani

Easy

3071.png3153.png3140.png Same as 33.png don't be scared she can't 1v1 you

VS

Shaco

Easy

One of the most annoying junglers but with my clear route you won't die to him early the only bad thing that can happen is that he might take  your buffs which is ok because he'll fall off late game just get 3364.png + 2043.png and he really can't do much once you two are even

VS

Shen

Easy

Use alphastrike.png whenever he ties to use shenshadowdash.png so you don't get taunted and just like rest of the tanks he can't 1v1 you kill him :3

VS

Shyvana

Easy

Her jungler clear is one of the fastest clears this season but unless she has 3.png + 3715.png you can take her 1v1

VS

Skarner

Easy

Isn't it obvious ? 3140.png

VS

Soraka

Hard

This champ has ruined games for me so always focus her in team fights if you want to win the game + watchout for her infuse.png it is really annoying.

VS

Tahm Kench

Medium

He can ruin your highlander.png so keep your distance but if he's support just kill him first

VS

Teemo

Easy

You can alphastrike.png his blindingdart.png and kill him quite easily one of the easiest matchups.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

The trick is to have 40 percent hp when he uses his ult than you can resist that dmg using your meditate.png if you get too low Q away to minions or jungle monsters. This is a skill cap matchup its easy to win this early - mid game late game he's way stronger than you are.

VS

Udyr

Easy

Unless he gets super ahead he isn't really that good you can wipe his whole team don't chase him too long unless you have red buff and 6.png with 3153.png it is quite hard to catch up with him.

VS

Vi

Easy

She can't 1v1 you as well + when her ultimate viR.png or viQ.png is about to hit you you can use your alphastrike.png to resist some damage and some CC which will help you win this matchup

VS

Warwick

Easy
3140.png and he's done but make sure you get your 3153.png first

VS

Wukong

Hard

This guy is easy to 1v1 if you are ahead but if you even i would recommend trying not to take him 1 on 1 his team fights are way better than yours you need to pick the enemy team 1 by 1 because 5v5 he'll quite easily steam roll over you.

VS

Xin Zhao

Easy

alphastrike.png His third xenzhaocombotarget.png and you're good to go

VS

Yasuo

Easy

3715.png + 3153.png + red buff he can't run he can't turn back on you and he's dead

VS

Zed

Medium

This is a skill cap mathup but the general staregy is to engage him and keep auto attacking on use your Q when he W's away or Flash away and when he uses R on you and you are low to fight back use W(meditate) to take out some of his burst damage gives you a fighting chance sometimes.

Jungle Clear + Route Back to Top

The Secret Route For Pre 6 Useless Junglers!

There's a jungle clear route called 6 at 6, meaning Lvl 6 at 6 min mark.
Buff camps take too long to kill on your first clear. So the idea is to buy your 2nd jungle item before killing them.
4 camps > recall > 6 camps > Lv6
Honestly there's no big deal on losing a buff camp except if you really want the buff. They give the same xp as any other camp. Most of the time, when playing farm junglers, it's better to completely concede a camp and take another one, instead of contesting.
This. As a Master yi main who does 6 at 6 consistently (Though it's more like 5:40), the most I've seen is people stealing my blue-which my only use for is to lower my ult CD and not have to back as frequently, but I was going to back after that clear anyways. If my blue (the second buff I clear) is gone, I'm just going to take scuttle, back, and continue my route as normal. I'm still going to hit 6 even if it's ~5-10 seconds later than usual, and I'm still going to gank bot/mid lane with the same items.
it's amazing on champs that have shitty ganks pre 6. warwick, shyvana, diana etc. if you skip the buffs, back, and then do a full clear, you get enough xp to hit level 6 REALLY early.
i'm at about the same elo as you and honestly? people don't usually expect you to just leave your buffs. i don't think i've ever lost one doing this. people just assume that the buffs are gone.

How to do it?

So what you are gonna do is always start from bot lane side if your support is a tank ask him to take 2-3 hits from Krugs or Gromp if its Janna or Soraka ask for a shield or heal now smite it as soon and it spawns gromp gives you dmg on your attacker and when you smite the krugs your next auto attack will stun the big krug so it can be used a damage evading maneuver once you hit lvl 2 take E now you have to do the clear exactly its mentioned in this guide play 2-3 bots game or customs with a friend to get it right now moving onto wolves or raptors if you are on raptors now don't use E at start first auto attack the 1 small raptor and use Q on it this will kill that small raptor and leave 2 raptors with pretty low health that die to just 1 Auto attack now kill them with auto attack then the only thing left is the big raptor now you can use your e and kill it don't use another Q on it or you'll run out of mana on Gromp whereas on if u started Gromp you'll facing wolves here the trick is to auto attack the small wolf twice and move on to the second small wolf hit it twice when you hit the second small wolf twice your passive will trigger and you will double auto attack the small wolf now use Q on the first small wolf this will instantly kill the the 2nd small wolf and you can use 1 auto attack to kill the first small wolf then use your E and take down the big wolf now this is important level up Q here not W (meditate) now if u started krugs you will be moving to wolves use the same trick as i explained when you started gromp and use E to kill the big wolf but on raptors if u started gromp just use Q on the big one because your Q will be level 2 and it will instantly kill all the small ones then use E to kill the big raptor and move on to krugs but if you started at kurgs you'll move on to gromp if u did this right you'll have 6-7 seconds on smite now start gromp just rush it down using smite than just recall and pick up 2 x Daggers with a health pot and do the same exact thing with the krugs if u started gromp smite the big krug stun it to avoid damage and recall now the 2nd clear is you are gonna do everything you just did but you will get your buffs as well once you finish your 2nd clear  you'll be lvl 5 look to gank now because you have red buff and the same lvl as mid or top laner if you can't gank get the scuttler and look for the enemy jungler because he'll be no match to a lvl 5 YI at that time if u get a kill you hit 6 right after the next camp. Now all you have to do is clear your whole jungle counter gank get objectives with your team and gank whenever you have red up or someone is overextending without Flash.

Ganking!

Now as a Yi with the 6 at 6 route the only time you can gank is when you have your ghost / Flash and red up on you. As a jungler it is your job to know what laners have flash and other summoners and what laners don't.
Also it is your job to keep track of the enemy jungler and ping your team mates when they are in danger. Now the most important part of ganking as a Master Yi is you know how to orbwalk. If you don't know what that is go checkout some videos on youtube and learn to orbwalk first because it is really important to increase your damage output also if you know the guy you are ganking has flash never use your alpha strike at start auto attack him down when he flashes use your alpha strike to gap close and possible get the kill. As a master yi bot lane with utility supports like janna nami lulu are the easiest to gank and kill that is a easy double kill if you do it right with your red buff and R. The second most easiest things for master yi to gank is brusiers/tanks like darius and volibear at top lane that's where you'll get most of your kills.if you run into there jungler anytime just 1v1 him with red smite you'll win for sure and save your Q just in case he tries to flash away to catch up to him try to avoid 1v2 early game unless you are super fed.

Note : Its super easy to take objectives like dragons and herald once you have Bloodrazor but try not to solo herald and ocean drake without Bork because they do so much damage. Also upgrade your red trinket as soon as you hit 9 and always keep a pink ward just in case you see there jungler top so you put it down on drake and do it if bot lane decides to contest it you can kill them super easy because they are no match for 6 at 6 Master Yi.

Climbing in Solo Queue Back to Top

Things that are really important while playing Solo Queue

>Always play with your best champions
>Never play when you are tired, angry, or depressed (Important)
>Don't risk to play if you think your internet is unstable
>Optimize on your Runes, Masteries, and Item builds before you play (Very Important)
>Evaluate on your champion's strengths and try to pick fights to your advantage (kiting, trading hits, pokes, all-out, pushing, etc)
>Don't repeatedly make mistakes and be patient (hug tower and skip cs when you are being camped, etc)
>Complete your items instead of buying multiples of basic and advanced items (As final items are much more powerful)
>Take down an enemy tower by level 12 and start roaming
Avoid getting caught by enemies and also do not die together when your ally gets caught
>Spam alert ping to direct your teammates in making the right decisions
Do not surrender and tell your teammates that surrendering is not acceptable in ranked
>Take 10 minutes break in between games (Easily achievable by afking until minions spawn)
>Play a warm up game before jumping into a ranked game (A game of dominion or ARAM maybe?)
>If you are the most fed player in your team, take the responsibility of carrying your team and never make a bad move for the rest of the game
>If you lose 2 games in a row, call it a day.  Majority of people queuing up at this time might be tryhards so you automatically fall below their skill level
>Dodge queue when someone in your team is "trying out" a champion
>Tell your jungler to focus on the other lanes if you are confident with your own lane.

Something you should know!

52.5% (10.5 wins / 9.5 loses)   = 1 win of difference (A decent player)   [where you're at right now]
55.0% (11.0 wins / 9.0 loses)   = 2 wins of difference (A very skilled player)
57.5% (11.5 wins / 8.5 loses)   = 3 wins of difference (An expert)   [your goal - Where you can be easily]
60.0% (12.0 wins / 8.0 loses)   = 4 wins of difference (A notable One-Trick-Pony)
65.0% (13.0 wins / 7.0 loses)   = 6 wins of difference (A player in Challenger)
70.0% (14.0 wins / 6.0 loses)   = 8 wins of difference (A Diamond V player playing in Silver)
75.0% (15.0 wins / 5.0 loses)   = 10 wins of difference (A Diamond I player playing in Gold)
80.0% (16.0 wins / 4.0 loses)   = 12 wins of difference (That's me playing Master Yi in Bronze)
90.0% (18.0 wins / 2.0 loses)   = 16 wins of difference (A Challenger playing in Bronze)
Has anyone ever told you that in order to climb Ranked Ladder fast  you have to play a lot of games?
Yes but that is only true if your average win rate is over 50%.
However, playing too much can also slow down your ranked progress.
1st Game   = You are feeling rusty on your first game. You should try and swap roles if someone wants your lane and go support most likely.
2nd Game  = You are finally warmed up and ready to win. Try to play your main role.
3rd Game   = All of a sudden you are hypercarrying the game. You think you are too good at this game sometimes.
4th Game   = You are still in good shape to stomp more people in Solo Queue.
5th Game   = You are feeling a little fatigue.  You tell yourself that this is going to be your last game for the day
6th Game   = Needlessly to say you queue up again... You just couldn't help it.
7th Game   = Now it's 2 AM but you decide to play anyway because you are greedy for another win... JUST ONE MORE
8th Game   = Unfortunately, you just lost your last game. You use that fact as an excuse to play another game... oh god
9th Game   = You are about to pass out but your hand magically joins a ranked game and now you are forced to play
10th Game = You are half unconcious while playing.  You do not care whatever the outcome of the game is...
After the 10th game you just pass out immediately. A few hours later you start dreaming about League of Legends. The game is a little different in there though, like Tryndamere spin knocking you up, Twisted Fate cards giving you shield, and Caitlyn turning invisible every time she uses E... you know....
Ah finally, you wake up at 1PM.  You login to League of Legends only to find that you have made literally no progress in ranked.  Now you're having your breakfast at lunch time.  What a good way to start a day...

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros

>Super strong in current meta.

>Alpha Strike is one of the best abilities in game. That makes people scream "Noob Champ".

>Really Strong in 1v1 scenario's.

>Can do baron at 20 minutes if you have a BORK and a top laner that is either tanky or has a BORK build(tell your team to distract the enemy team by going bot lane) and take baron with your top laner but make him tank it so can finish it off with your R.

>Can build tank items still do enough damage to outscale most of the champions.
>Can splitpush quite effectively and if ahead can easily 1v3.

Cons

> No CC in his kit so without red buff is not a good ganker.
> Team reliant if your team doesn't want to win its highly likely you'll lose.
> Can't engage fights because will get hard cc'ed with exhaust and end up dying.
> Highlander nerfs make him hard to play in team fights because if you don't use it at the right time most of your damage output dies.
>Starts falling off late game when everyone is 6 slotted (try to end games within 30-40 mins max)
