Summoner Spells Back to Top

Standard spells for every marksman. Make sure you have Flash on F. 8)

Masteries Back to Top

If you're going to use the other runes I talked about in the rune section, which I recommend you do, be sure to make the appropriate changes to masteries as well.

Currently mf is played almost as a ranged assasin, she deals a crazy amout of damage with her Q and R but not as much with her basic attacks so position is key.

Bounty Hunter or Opressor?

If you have a enough sustain, e.g. healing support or are confident that you will not get poked down, take Double Edged Sword instead of Feast.

Opressor is good if you have an active support that harrases a lot but remember, you don't have the manapool to keep spamming your E slow whenever you're going to hit Q so it's probably better to pick up Bounty Hunter  for the lategame.

Keystone:

We take Deathfire Touch because we will mostly build ad items, it works well with your Q in laningphase and your R in teamfights.

You want to start off with W for three reasons. First is so that you can cover your jungle quickly with the extra movementspeed. Second reason is so that you can leash better for your jungler and third is because it's better to push with when you want to get to level 2 first, which you want.

You get to level 2 before your opponent by killing the 3 mele minions on the second wave before the other opponent. Can't stress this enough!

Sometimes the opponent kills gromp or crugs very fast and he will then get  to level 2 before you, if thats the case you will have to be careful and possibly back off. Lucian for example has a very strong level 2.

The standard build order is 3142.png -> 3147.png -> 3006.png OR 3009.png -> 3031.png -> 3094.png

If you face off versus a LeBlanc or Syndra or someone you know will hit you with ap damage go for Maw as a third item.

If you face off versus a Zed or Talon (in 2k16 LUL) or a heavy ad assasin go for PD.

Always look at their and your team composition, they might have a full ap sejuani jungle that will jump on you and thats when you need to be prepared.

VS

Ashe

Medium
Medium/Hard
  • Do not go for long trades with ashe, her Q and W will slow you down and she will probably get in 3 autos and W in the time it takes you to hit her once.
  • Poke her down with Q.
  • MF is immobile, stay on your toes, Ashe's ulti stuns as much as it hurts and I mean, 200/400/600 Magic Damage, rip...

VS

Caitlyn

Medium
Medium/Hard
  • Caitlyn is simmilar to Ashe but has even longer range but not as much kill potential.
  • A good Caitlyn will harras you constantly. Whoever pokes down who first gets lane dominance. Be careful for her E and try to dodge her Q that she often will fire into the wave to push. She can put her traps under you without you noticing it so don't stand still and trade autos with her.
  • If you are even in lane and have gotten your 3134.png after the first back you should be able to poke her down.

VS

Draven

Hard
  • His Q hurts. His E counters your ulti, and it's longer ranged on that than you think. His R hurts even more.
  • Avoid Draven if you can, if you can't play save and try to poke as much as you can without opening up yourself to hooks or cc from their support or Draven.

VS

Ezreal

Easy
  • Ezreal is a very passive champ and he will not do any decent damage to you unless he gets his Qs off so take shelter behind minions.
  • It is hard to kill Ezreal since he will always jump away with E, don't overchase and blow your flash unless you know you will kill him. Instead poke him down and make him back, manage your minion wave and back.

VS

Jhin

Medium
  • Poke him down with Q. This matchup is similar to Jinx except that it's easier to win the level 2 race.
  • He outranges you and can CC out of nowhere his ulti also hurts a lot.
  • It's not an easy matchup but if you poke him down he will be forced to back since he can't outrun your ultimate combo, QER.

VS

Jinx

Medium
  • She will most likely push you in and win the level 2 race since her rockets destroy minion waves so easily. If your support helps you that might not be the case but it's hard to win that race so don't bet on it.
  • Be careful for her level 6 powerspike. If you don't have sustain vs Jinx and their support pokes you down you will have a hard time.
  • This is one of those lanes that can go either way, if you can poke her down low enough in lane you will get the upper hand and control it. If you can't poke her down and they have a cc support that can chain cc you with Jinx's traps you will likely die.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy
  • You win the level 2 race and can push him in.
  • In lane, Kog relies heavily on his W while you rely on poking with Q, so just be careful for his W and poke him down.
  • Kog'Maw will be trouble in lategame so try to finish the game before then.

VS

Lucian

Medium
  • Don't let him get the jump on you especially when he has ulti.
  • Stick with your support and poke him down in lane.
  • Be careful for his level 2.

VS

Sivir

Easy
  • She has to short range to compete with MF and you easily poke her down with Q.
  • Her spellshield can block your first Q but it has to long cooldown to actually be helpful unless she goes all in.
  • All players are human, except for the AI hehe xd, therefore she will sometimes also miss the spellshield.

VS

Tristana

Hard
  • Every time you play versus Tristana your goal is to try to push her in to her tower and she will have a very bad time lasthitting, just watch out for ganks.
  • In laningphase you have to be careful if your support uses his/her cc or damageing abilities and misses them, Tristana can easily jump on you and kill you if she has some items.
  • Her E passive is annoying because it resets your movement speed buff from your W and deals damage.
  • If you get caught out by her jump and she can combo you when no one is around you will die.
  • You win lane by avoiding the damage from her E passive and poke her down with Q, if you can get her low enough she will be hesitant to jump on you in lane.

VS

Twitch

Easy
  • You have the upper hand here, he will try to aa you and cast casket at level 2, if you avoid his autoattacks he will not deal very much damage and you can poke him down with Q.
  • Twitch, like MF, doesn't have good escapes so if he gets too chunked by your Q you can combo him down with Q, E and R.

VS

Vayne

Easy
  • Vayne has little to say in a lane versus MF, don't let her proc her W and you should be good. Poke her down with Q.
  • Vayne is extremely strong 1v1 and even if you've killed her several times in lane you probably won't be able to kill her 1v1 unless you are many levels ahead.
  • Any poke support with MF is a suicide lane for Vayne.

Laning and teamfighting Back to Top

Laning

MF should not trade more than one auto, if at all, at a time in laningphase. Her main damage should come from Q.
Don't get pushed in at level 1 because it will be hard for you to poke your opponents. Don't waste mana on E, it costs 80 mana, it should only be used when you need to escape.

Double Up: Killing the creep you land Q on and bouncing it to the enemy deals 50% extra compared what I normally does so use that to your advantage. When you have your 3134.png you can kill a minon to get bonus ad, auto a caster and cast Q immedietly afterwards to kill the caster minion and chunk your enemy should do about 30-35% of a marksmans hp. More often than not the enemy won't expect the extra damage and you can, if he has taken some damage already, Q -> E -> R and you will most likely kill your opponent, just be careful for stuns or hooks since you have very limited mobility and no escape except for your flash. I find myself to often channeling my ulti when a bard with ulti is near or a thresh is in range of hooking me. hehe xD

In higher elo, where they know about MF's bonus damage on Q if you kill the first target, the opponents will avoid half dead casters or stands to the side. Don't always go for those Q's, you can easily poke down your target by landing normal Q's and you easily get punished for missing it.

After you get your 3142.png and 3147.png the real fun begins, you can kill a caster with casting E on casters, then Q  and bounce it to your opponent. If you're still in laningphase or get a Q off on a squishy target you can 70-80% your opponent with just one Q, ulti straigt after, if they are immobile, and they are dead or have to flash. Sick damage.

After bot turret is destroyed

If you kill off the turret bot you should then look to go mid whenever you've pushed your lane, you can siege, do damage to their midlaner, force their jungler or bot lane to come mid and possibly start a fight mid. The goal with this is to exploit their weaknesses, more often than the opponents makes misstakes either rotating to mid or in midlane since you can do insane damage with Q. What happens is they take too much damage so that your team can kill off the mid turret.

Teamfighting

When teamfighting with MF positioning is KEY. Sometimes it's not worth to stand and attack the frontline if they have hard CC up, be sure to know your enemy and watch out.

Sometimes if you fight in the jungle it might be worth it to sacrifice a team member if it means the opponents getting greedy and entering unwarded jungle where you are waiting, chokepoints is one of MF's greatest strenghts.

Don't always go for creepwaves if you know a fight is going to erupt and you sometimes doesn't need that pickaxe, or even B.F Sword, that you have gold for if it means that you get an advantage on the map, this applies heavily on late game and not so much earlygame.

Minion wave management Back to Top

It's important to leave lanes at the right time. If you have lanedominance it's sometimes better to let your opponent back and miss experience and gold instead of burning your summoners for kills without proper vision.
