Summoner Spells Back to Top

All of these summoner spell configurations have their uses. 12.png is great for laning with morde, especially against a champion who would harrass you alot, leaving you little openings to last hit safely. Even without your 3142.png you will be able to TP onto a deep ward when the enemy botlane is pushed against your tower to get an easy double kill.

6.png is great for killing potential lategame if you try to kill a target that survives you during your 3142.png active duration. Also with the recent buffs to ghost lowering its cooldown by 30 seconds while making the movement speed steroid stronger i dare say that its actually more useful than flash now. Only few champions that can wall you off will have a counterplay vs ghost. Keep that in mind when picking your summoners.
11.png is obviously your only choice when jungling. AD mordekaiser is very well capable of doing that too.

Masteries Back to Top

Stormraider is excellent on AD mordekaiser because 1-2 hits from your Q will already trigger it, making you very hard to kite. If you are in range for autos once then chances are its already too late for your enemy to safely disengage you on their own.

mordekaisersyphonofdestruction.png is a great lvl 1 spell, has a low cooldown and gives you a % amount of shield if you hit an enemy champion.
However, the scaling doesn't get better per level and the health cost pretty quickly becomes VERY expensive.
mordekaisermaceofspades.png is the spell you want maxed first. The health cost stays pretty tame even at lvl 5 and as AD morde this is your primary source of damage. In the jungle you want to start with this lvl 1 then level W and then E. After that the ability order remains unchanged.
mordekaisercreepingdeathcast.png even though you will probably use your E more than your W you want to max this spell second simply because it provides you with early sustain, regardless of whether you are just hitting two monsters in the next best jungle camp to run away or actually farming as junglekaiser.

A common misconception among people who theorycraft about mordekaiser and champions in general is how they compare AD to AP ratios. While it is true that your mordekaisermaceofspades.png only has a .9 AD ratio compared to a .6 AP ratio you have to understand that during those three autoattacks for your Q you still do (duh) autoattack damage. Because of that your total damage on your first 2 hits is in actuallity 190% AD mixed damage and the last one being 280% AD mixed damage. This means that bonus AD scales with a total ratio of 660% while AP remains at a measly 240% ratio if you add all three hits together. Also your mordekaiserchildrenofthegrave.png gains 100% of your bonus AD while they get absolutely no benefit from having AP whatsoever. This makes your ghost on AD mordekaiser an actual damage threat regardless of whose ghost you manage to catch.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Laning start
    Jungle start
Get these loser items out of my face

Core Items

    First item
Get these if at least 2 or more enemies have constant, relevant slows that will certainly hit you during teamfights.
Get these if the enemy doesnt have constant slows but instead more hard cc.
This should be your second item after youmuus. Doesn't provide such a strong damage spike as ghostblade, but instead fixes your sustain problem so you won't have to use your W for that anymore.
Pick one of these to provide constant slows.
Provides MR and more sustain once the passive is triggered, giving you 25% vamp combined with your gunblade.
Makes you faster, which means you might not need to have to use ghostblade anymore just to be able to engage on someone.
Defensive options to replace dead mans and maw
    Jungle equivalent of youmuus

Situational Items

    Example full build

Itemization on AD morde is a tough nut to figure out, since most of the AD items give you wasted stats (such as armor pen on 3142.png and 3156.png) that really dont add that much to your overall gameplay. (You will, at best, do around 25% physical damage to champions over the course of the game, while the remaining 75% are magical)

Still, you want these items because of how easy it is with AD mordekaiser to snowball your DPS out of the ballpark, making you tank and hit like a super saiyan lategame trundle at only 25 minutes in.

In any case, you always want 3142.png as your first item, without compromise. Building anything but ghostblade early on will only set you back. Building an early 3155.png because "muh harrass too stronk" won't do you any good if it means that you take way too long to finish your ghostblade. Because as soon as you have it finished you have all the power you need to go on a rampage as it provides you with huge single target damage, attackspeed and 6 seconds of near unavoidable sticking power to your sorry targets. Once you have ghostblade your primary objective should be looking for every winnable teamfight to start snowballing yourself.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

Squishy early, doesnt stand a chance in your face

VS

Ahri

Medium

Not the worst matchup you can get. She will harass you alot but unlike other mages she doesnt deal that dangerous amounts of damage early on.

VS

Akali

Medium

Mostly a skill and knowledge matchup. Akali can deal large amounts of damage to you if she decides to harass you properly and you can do the same. Its mostly a rat race for whomever gets their core item first.

VS

Alistar

Hard

Strong disengage against you and since he doesnt relies on slows you cant do anything about it either.

VS

Amumu

Easy

Just because this matchup is easy doesnt mean you should let him gank you for free. He will kill you in a 1v2 situation, but on his own he is a joke. You can hardly be forced to take him seriously on his own.

VS

Annie

Medium

You dont want to be caught off guard by her combo at any point when at low health.

VS

Ashe

Easy

An immobile ADC that relies on slows? count me in!

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium

His early harass is unbearable, but so are most champions. As soon as you have your ghostblade he stands no chance against you if you manage to sit on top of him. He relies way too much on sustained damage for that matter while you only need three hits to send him back to the stars

VS

Azir

Hard

He has mobility, harass, an ult that forces you to waste your flash just to stick to him and other nasty things. Your best bet at outplaying him is to make it look like you are scared of him. At some point he will send his soldiers too far behind you to block your retreat, that is your queue to go ham on him and teach him a lesson.

VS

Bard

Easy

Sure he can stun you easily, but other than that he relies on slows.

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

Pull me so i can kill you faster

VS

Brand

Medium

Get base boots early to be able to avoid his brandfissure.png As long as you are good enough to avoid his skillshot based harass you are going to be fine.

VS

Braum

Easy

Its not like you are using projectiles anyways

VS

Caitlyn

Hard

She can make your life hard with her disengage and snaring tools. Having a garbageton of movement speed doesnt help against a wall of snares.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

Be careful once he has his ult. Mordekaiser has ridiculously low base HP for a fighter, so while you are still trying to finish that sweet, sweet ghostblade he has all the capabilities to full combo you into oblivion post 6.

VS

Diana

Medium

Literally an item matchup when it comes to a fight. If she doesnt burst you then you will slaughter her without remorse.

VS

Ekko

Easy

This kid is a practical joke. Give him 20 kills and he still wont be able to threaten you once you have a couple items yourself. Just smack some sense into him when he tries to attack you, but he won't ever learn.

Be careful of his ultimate though, that thing has some scary scalings.

VS

Elise

Medium

VS

Evelynn

Easy

Early game she would probably hand you your butt. But lategame she hardly has the DPS to stand in your way for too long.

VS

Ezreal

Hard

Stormraiders only lasts for 3 seconds while this guy will barrage you with slowing shots like crazy.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Hard
terrify.png can give you quite alot of trouble if he focuses on you.

VS

Garen

Easy

You dont really have any spells that you want to use AFTER he attacks you, so his silence is rather wasted.

VS

Gnar

Hard

how do i catch this thing

VS

Gragas

Hard

He can disengage you with his ultimate pretty hard. On his own he doesnt stand a chance but in teamfights he will make you regret bad positioning.

VS

Graves

Hard

He has the kite of doom, combined with free tanky stats and a burst combo that can potentially kill you at any point early to midgame.

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

Just learn how to dodge his turrets and you will be fine.

VS

Janna

Medium

She will disengage you pretty hard, but unlike alistar she doesnt have the tankiness to do that for too long

VS

Jhin

Hard

Its hard for you not to get snared by him.

Why do I play AD mordekaiser? Back to Top

If you ask any mordekaiser player they will probably tell you that AP is the only way to go and that AD is a joke build. While it is true that most of his damaging spells benefit from AP more in a way than from AD you have to keep in mind that his AP ratios are mostly reserved for sustained, AoE spells. That is all well and good but at the end of the day building full AP on a melee champ makes you very squishy so even if you have all the AoE damage to wreck a teamfight you are most likely going to be blown up, early game as well as lategame.

AD mordekaiser instead takes a vastly different approach. As explained in the skills section, your Q scales insanely with your total AD, which turns you into a single target DPS machine. As such your main focus throughout your game will be farming and pincering enemies when the occasion is given, using any ghosted enemy you salvage from those ganks to help you with objectives snowballing your team that way.

In any case, here is my opinion about AD mordekaiser in a Pros/Cons format that everyone seems to love:

Pros:

  • Alienatingly high single target DPS
  • Unkillable 1v1 lategame; endgame morde breaks even in a 1v3
  • Ghost from the ultimate gets all of your bonus AD; Getting the ADC lategame means the ghost will 2 shot bruisers
  • Always able to do baron at 20 minutes no matter how far behind
  • Melts towers thanks to flat armor pen from ghostblade
  • Has an easy time triggering stormraider's with only one Q and E; With swifties 100% slow immune for 3 secs
  • (People will always flash away from you even when you are already winding up your death blow)

Cons:

  • Super squishy early game due to low base HP
  • Forced to build 2 damage items before anything else
  • Gets shut down easily with stunlocks
  • No mobility skills
  • No cc of your own
  • Your gameplay focuses too much on your Q so you get punished hard if it gets baited
