Summoner Spells Back to Top

These are the only only two summoner spell sets that I would consider taking on Morgana.

Summoner Spell Explanation

4.png is a staple on most champions in League of Legends if you are not using it you should start because it is the strongest summoner spell in the game.

3.png is metagame for supports to take and for good reason. This spell offers massive utility in teamfights allowing you to (if used correctly) reduce massive amounts of damage from the enemy DPS.

14.png is a strong spell that is also a viable option for Morgana to take. This spell offers the possibility of lane dominance if the enemy support is taking exhaust, but it offers much less utility in teamfights as the only utility it offers is a 50% healing debuff.

Max Q, then E, taking R when possible.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The only relativity in the skill order is in the first 3 points.

The Q route: Taking Q first is a standard and safest approach. If you take Q first, and you are afraid of a level 2 all in from the enemy lane, make sure to take E as your second ability. If you are not afraid of an all in, just take your W, then E.

The W route: This is the riskiest of the 3 abilities to take first, but also carries with it the highest gold potential for level 1. Take Q second if you fear an all in at level 2, then take E at level 3.

The E route: This is a situational level up that might happen if you need to protect someone from CC during a level 1 invade. An example of this would be if the enemy Blitzcrank is about to hook one of your allies; you would take E in the split second before he grabs and land a clutch shield. Take Q second if you take this first, and then take E at level 3.

Rush Sightstone! It's OP!

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Getting Sightstone and Sweeping Lens is your highest priority.

Starting: 90% of the games I will start with 3303_32.png, but occasionally when I am up against a strong lane, I will start with 1054_32.png for sustainability and staying power in lane.

Core: 2049_32.png should be your first item and you should always try to get this on your first back. Your next goal is to get 3273_32.png as soon as possible. The order should go like this: Start ->3303_32.png -> 2049_32.png -> 3117_32.png -> 3273_32.png. Note: upgrading your trinket to 3098_32.png is optional but not needed. I only find myself upgrading it in passive lanes where nothing much is happening. If you upgrade to 3098_32.png I would also suggest getting 3092_32.png as a 1st or 2nd big item.

Next up is to decide what type of resistance to build. Simply press tab and figure out who has the most gold/doing most damage and choose whether to build a 3191_32.png or an 3105_32.png. Both of these items are amazing on Morgana and will make a huge impact on midgame fights. These items are important and can easily change the tides of the fight if you built correctly. I usually will not have both of these items in my inventory at once. What i mean by this is that if i go 3191_32.png I will tend to complete 3157_32.png before I pick up an 3105_32.png and vice-versa.

Situational:

The game is usually over by the time I have 3157_32.png3190_32.png but sometimes it is not and this is where I will have to focus on building some situational items:

If your team has 3+ AD's or your AD's are insanely fed: 3050_32.png
If you have to deal with annoying bruisers diving your ADC and you need more kiting: 3092_32.png
If their ADC is fed/enemy team has more than one ADC: 3110_32.png
If CC is preventing your carry from doing enough damage: 3222_32.png
If they have a lot of AD and you need more damage reduction: 3263_32.png

VS

Alistar

Easy

Trading: Try to always be auto attacking him. He is melee so it is easy to harass him with abilities/auto attacks.

All-ins: Do not all in him when he is full HP. Make sure you have the HP advantage before you all in. Shield your ADC from his CC and try to hit a binding on their carry. You will most likely win the engagement this way.

VS

Annie

Medium

Trading: I don't suggest trading with Annie with auto attacks because her AA's out-range yours significantly. Only use your W from a long range away and avoid trades if you can.

All-ins: Shield her stun (whoever she aims it at). Q her ADC, or her but only if she is out of position.

Overall this matchup is pretty annoying and you both have equal relevance in teamfights but you have slightly more pick potential. The key to getting ahead in this matchup is to roam when she does and make sure to counter engage her ganks.

VS

Bard

Easy
Morgana is Bard's #1 counterpick!

Trading: You are much stronger than Bard so feel free to trade with him at all times using AA's and W. Landing a Q on an out of position Bard will cost him his Flash or his life since he is incredibly squishy.

All-ins: Land a Q on Bard since he is so squishy. Shield your ADC just in case he gets a lucky stun with his Q. If he tries using his ult, make sure to shield your ADC!

VS

Braum

Easy

Trading: Auto attack Braum as much as possible since he is melee it should be easy. Spam W in this matchup since there is nothing he or his ADC can do to stop you.

All-ins: Qing Braum won't do much since he will just shield damage from your ADC. The best thing to do here is to try to land a Q on the enemy ADC and make sure to shield your ADC so they don't get stunned by Concussive Blows! (Braum's passive)

In teamfights it is crucial that you shield your main damage dealer so that they don't get interrupted by Braum's knockup!

VS

Janna

Medium

Trading: Try to avoid trades with Janna as she will shield your auto attacks and respond with her own (AD boosted) AAs. This makes trading with Janna difficult. Your best bet is to land as many W's on her ADC as possible.

All-ins: Hitting an out of position Janna with a Q should cost her her Flash since she is really squishy (especially 9/0/21 Janna's). If it is a fair engagement however, i would suggest only Qing her ADC, as you will need as much damage on them as possible.

In teamfights you should focus on shielding your tank if the ADC doesn't need it so that Janna cannot kite the tank off her ADC with her R, Q, or W.

VS

Karma

Hard
Warning! Difficult lane!

Trading: You will be forced to eat Q's for the entire laning phase whether you want to or not. The best thing you can do is attempt to shield whoever she is shooting her Q at. It will make your lane more vulnerable to ganks, but your ADC may survive a bit longer in the lane so they can get their core items (which is important in this matchup). If your ADC falls behind in this lane do NOT attempt to all in (unless you're getting a gank).

All-ins: There is little opportunity to engage this lane since she is going to have significantly more HP than you the entire laning phase. Only All-in if your jungler is there.

Once teamfights start things will get better if you haven't fallen too far behind.

VS

Leona

Medium

Trading: Do not step out of position in this lane. The position of your champion matters a lot in this matchup. Other than this, just attempt to W the enemy ADC and only attempt to harass with AA's when you know you are safe.

All-ins: She may attempt to all in you at level 2. What a good Leona will do is E to you or your ADC (causing you to use your shield), then walk to the opposite target and use her stun. This is very difficult to predict, and a good Leona will most likely bait your shield. This makes all-ins very difficult and difficult to win.

In teamfights just use your shield on whatever carry she is focusing. If no one is focusing your carry, use the shield on your tank so that Leona cannot kite him.

VS

Sona

Medium

Trading: Sona is going to win every trade by design. You can attempt to shield one target to block some of her Q damage, but your shield does not block her powerchord damage that applies on her autoattack. Just try to use W on her ADC and Q her if she walks out of position. If you land a Q pre-6, there is a high chance of her burning Flash.

All-ins: I would only all-in this lane if top/mid/jungle was going to gank bot. I would use my ult to engage and I would shield whoever I thought was going to do the most damage (not always the ADC).

In teamfights you have the power to use your shield to negate her stun on one person. This is a powerful tool, so use it wisely.

VS

Taric

Easy
Morgana is Taric's main counterpick! This is Morgana's easiest lane!

Trading: Taric is a  simple and predictable champion. You know exactly what he is going to do every game, so use this to your advantage He has a targeted stun that is somewhat slow moving, so just shield whoever he tries to stun, and respond with a Q on his ADC with some AA's to follow.

All-ins: Same concept as trading -- shield his stun and Q his ADC. This lane is hard to lose.

VS

Thresh

Medium

Trading: Try not to get hit by his empowered AA's because they stack up a lot of damage over time. Thresh has slightly more utility than you in lane because he has more CC than you and a lantern to assist his jungler. Even though he has more tools at his disposal, you have Black Shield (E) which poses a huge threat the Thresh. Trade using W and AA's. Shield his Q if he tries to turn a trade into an all-in.

All-ins: Do not all in Thresh unless you have poked him down significantly, or your jungler is coming to gank. Shielding his E in all-ins is actually just as important as shielding his Q because he is most likely maxing his E and it does a ton of damage. This is a tough all-in and I would suggest avoiding it if at all possible.
