Summoner Spells Back to Top

3.png4.png: I use this combination most of the time. Take Exhaust if they have an autoattack-based Marksman such as 119.png or 429.png, or if their midlaner and/or jungler is a dangerous AD assassin like 238.png or 11.png. Also, this spell is very good for Morgana as it is useful to keep an important enemy inside your ultimate soulshackles.png.

4.png14.png: Take this if you think you can stomp their botlane or if the enemy team has a champion like 50.png or 36.png with a lot of sustain. Also, if their support has lots of heals, like 16.png or 267.png

Masteries Back to Top

These are the optimal masteries for Morgana. Thunderlord's Decree is just too strong to pick any other combination. You will be able to poke the enemy botlane with tormentedsoil.png and Thunderlord's Decree which will give you a lot of advantage. Also, if you buy 3303.png at the start, you are going to earn lots of gold. 


Cunning:

Wanderer: This is the best option for us as we do not need do deal more damage to monsters. 

Secret Stash: This mastery point gives us more sustain from potions which we will need. Also, we do not need extra time for buffs, and you will mostly be with a teammate during the laning phase, so Assassin is not that useful for us.

Meditation: This is one of the masteries we will need as Morgana. We will be using lots of tormentedsoil.png so some mana regen is nice. 

Bandit: This mastery point will give us lots of gold, and it also has good sinergy with 3303.png when poking. 

Intelligence: Some CDR early on is always welcome, and it is just better than Precision for us. 

Thunderlord's Decree: Obvious reasons.

Resolve:


Recovery: Health regen is always needed during the lane phase and it can gives us the advantage after a trade. Morgana does not need the extra resistances from Unyelding.

Tough Skin: A very useful mastery for us when trading against their other support and/or marksman. We will receive a little bit less damage.

Veteran's Scars: This is the best option for Morgana as we are not going to heal anyone and our shield does not need to be bigger. The +45 Health is amazing for every support early on. 

Insight: A very useful mastery to reduce our Flash/Ignite/Exhaust CD by 15%.

Abilities:

morganapassive.png: Morgana has Spell Vamp, healing herself whenever she deals damage with her spells. 

darkbindingmissile.pngFires a bolt of dark energy, rooting the first enemy hit for 2/2.25/2.5/2.75/3 seconds and dealing 80/135/190/245/300 (+90% Ability Power) magic damage.

tormentedsoil.pngCurses an area for 5 seconds. Enemies on the cursed ground are dealtfrom 16/32/48/64/80 (+22% Ability Power) to 24/48/72/96/120 (+33% Ability Power) magic damage every second based on the enemy's missing Health.

blackshield.pngShields an allied Champion for 5 seconds. The shield absorbs 70/140/210/280/350 (+70% Ability Power) magic damage and prevents disables until it breaks.

soulshackles.pngDark chains latch onto nearby enemy Champions dealing 150/225/300 (+70% Ability Power) magic damage and slowing them by 20% for 3 seconds. After 3 seconds, they are dealt an additional 150/225/300 (+70% Ability Power) magic damage and are stunned for 1.5 seconds. Enemy Champions can break the chains by moving away from Morgana.


First Levels:


Level 1: You should start with darkbindingmissile.png most of the time. This will help us protect ourselves and our marksman if they start a level 1 fight from bushes, or to try and make an unexpected catch. With darkbindingmissile.png at level 1 you can deal half of the enemy Marksman/Support's total HP with some autoattacks.  

Level 2: At level 2 you have one of the strongest combos for skirmishing. If you catch someone with your darkbindingmissile.png you can land your tormentedsoil.png under them and activate the Thunderlord's Decree which will deal good amounts of damage to him. You can also take blackshield.png if their support has a hook, such as 412.png or 53.png.

Level 3: You always want to get your third ability. If you got tormentedsoil.png at level 2, now you want to unlock blackshield.png, and viceversa.

Starting Items

    Spellthief's Edge is the best starting item for Morgana, as you are going to build Frost Queen's Claim. Also, it gives you some mana regen. early on
    You want to build this ASAP
    Buy this early on if you do not have enough gold for more important items
    Buy one of these everytime you go base and place it on important bushes. Vision wins games

Core Items

    Next 2 items should be these. Zhonya's Hourglass is the main item for every Morgana
    A very important item for your team against heavy AP-based enemy teams
    I like to build this when my Marksman is a good player and I know he can stomp during teamfights
    Get this when you buy Sightstone
    A pretty strong item right now, it applies a lot of pressure.

Situational Items

    Standard Full Build
    Example Build Against Heavy AD (change your boots, you do not need 50% CDR :P)
    Example Build against heavy AP or if you want to save an important teammate
    Build this instead of Solari for more pressure (almost same build path).

UNIQUE Passive: +10% Cooldown Reduction
UNIQUE Passive - Enhanced Movement: +45 Movement Speed
UNIQUE Passive: Reduces Summoner Spell cooldowns by 10%

The best option for pretty much every match. It gives you the Cooldown Reduction you need to get to 40% when full build. However, if you need to buy 3110.png, then change your boots to another one of your choice. I personally recommend 3020.png

2045.png Ruby Sightstone 2045.png

+500 Health

UNIQUE Passive: Item Active cooldowns are reduced by 10%.
UNIQUE Active - Warding: Consumes a charge to place a Stealth Ward that reveals the surrounding area for 150 seconds. Holds up to 4 charges and refills when visiting the shop. 

This is the most important item for support, so you want to build this as soon as possible. You can also just build 2049.png and finish the item later on. 

3092.png Frost Queen's Claim 3092.png

+50 Ability Power
+10% Cooldown Reduction
+2 Gold per 10 seconds
+100% Base Mana Regen

UNIQUE Passive - Tribute: Spells and basic attacks against champions or buildings deal 15 additional damage and grant 15 gold. This can occur up to 3 times every 30 seconds.
UNIQUE Active: Summon 2 icy ghosts for 6 seconds that seek out nearby enemy champions. Ghosts reveal enemies on contact and reduce their Movement Speed by 40% for between 2 and 5 seconds based on how far the ghosts have traveled (90 second cooldown).

Best support item for Morgana. You can use the slow the active provides you to keep the enemies under your soulshackles.png, to have better vision, to engage and disengage... It is one of the most important items for this build. 

3157.png Zhonya's Hourglass 3157.png

+100 Ability Power
+45 Armor

UNIQUE Active - Stasis: Champion becomes invulnerable and untargetable for 2.5 seconds, but is unable to move, attack, cast spells, or use items during this time (90 second cooldown).

One of the most important non-support items for our build. It gives us the tankiness and survivability we need to engage on teamfights and catch some of the enemies with our soulshackles.png


3190.png Locket of the Iron Solari 3190.png

+400 Health
+100% Base Health Regen
+20 Magic Resist
+10% Cooldown Reduction

UNIQUE Active: Grants a shield to nearby allies for 2 seconds that absorbs up to 75 (+15 per level) damage (60 second cooldown).
UNIQUE Aura - Legion: Grants nearby allies +15 Magic Resist

This item is essential and can only be replaced by 3060.png in some situtions. It gives you even more tankiness and a protection to all your team during fights with its active.

+20 Magic Resist
+10% Cooldown Reduction

UNIQUE Aura - Legion: Grants nearby allies +15 Magic Resist.
UNIQUE Active - Promote: Greatly increases the power of a lane minion and grants it immunity to magic damage (120 second cooldown). 

Use this item if your team lacks pressure potential or if an important lane needs to be pushed without anybody being there. It will give you some good Ability Power so you will deal more damage. You sacrifice some health though. 


3222.png Mikael's Crucible 3222.png

+35 Magic Resist
+10% Cooldown Reduction
+100% Base Mana Regen

UNIQUE Passive - Mana Font: Restores 2% of missing Mana every 5 seconds.
UNIQUE Active: Removes all stuns, roots, taunts, fears, silences, and slows on an allied champion and heals that champion for 150 (+10% of maximum Health) (180 second cooldown).

This item is basically a 3140.png + 7.png for an ally. It also gives you some good stats. Take it if your Marksman can carry the game but dies quickly to perma-cc. 


3110.png Frozen Heart 3110.png

+90 Armor
+20% Cooldown Reduction
+400 Mana

UNIQUE Aura: Reduces the Attack Speed of nearby enemies by 15%.

One of the strongest items to take if the enemies are mostly ad-based. You will be a lot tankier with this. 


3050.png Zeke's Harbinger 3050.png

+250 Mana
+30 Armor
+50 Ability Power
+10% Cooldown Reduction

UNIQUE Active - Conduit: Bind to target ally (60 second cooldown).
UNIQUE Passive: When within 1000 units of each other, you and your ally generate Charges. Attacking or casting spells generates extra Charges. At 100 Charges, causing damage consumes them, increasing your and your ally's Ability Power by 20% and Critical Strike Chance by 50% for 8 seconds. 

Take this if you know your Marksman can deal tons of damage during teamfights and you need him to deal even more. You need to make sure he survives to their focus though.

Difficulty: 3/10

Alistar should not be a threat if you manage to counter his combo with your blackshield.png. You want to poke him as much as you can with autoattacks. At level 4, it is recommended to put another point on your blackshield.png instead of leveling up your darkbindingmissile.png
Never focus Alistar during fights and skirmishes, as he builds full tank and you have almost no damage. You want to save your darkbindingmissile.png for their Marksman instead.

Difficulty: 5/10

Annie is not a real threat as you are also a ranged champion. You want to be very careful for her stun and be ready to blackshield.png it. 
Her autoattacks are very ranged, so do not try to chase her to poke her if you are not sure you will get to her.
After level 6 and during fights, be sure to be separate from your teammate so that her ultimate + combo will not damage you both. She has no mobility so it should be easy to win the lane.

Ashe

Easy

Difficulty: 2/10

Ashe is a very squishy non-mobile marksman, which means you can win this lane if you play it correctly. 
The only important thing you have to do if counter her asheR.png with your blackshield.png. You also want to focus her during fights. She will die very quickly from your combo.

Bard

Medium

Difficulty: 6/10

Bard is a very squishy champion but can be a pain in the ass if he plays it correctly. Early on he has tons of poke potential, so I recommend you to put a second point into your blackshield.png at level 4 to mitigate some of his damage and his stuns. 
At level 6 and during fights, be very careful with his bardR.png and shield the teammate you think is going to be caught by it. 
Also be very careful of his roam potential and try to counter it as much as you can.
Finally, be very careful with the vision as he can help their jungler gank with his bardE.png. Care with it.

Blitzcrank

Difficulty: 4/10

Blitzcrank is not a very good support even if people do not think so.
Your objective as Morgana is to harass him as much as you can during early levels. Always be behind your minion wave and do not be afraid of him even if he tries to zone you or your marksman. 
If he tries to rocketgrab.png you or your teammate, just use your blackshield.png and he won't be able to do anything. If he misses it, just punish him as much as you can. You can also use your darkbindingmissile.png on him if he starts playing aggressively. 
Blitzcrank should not be much of a threat.

Difficulty: 6/10

Brand can be a real threat if he plays it correctly. In this match-up you want to focus on using blackshield.png whenever he tries to use his combo on someone. Do not try to poke him if he is not nearby you. Just try to play defensively and counter their engages. Use your tormentedsoil.png as much as you can.

Braum is not a Hard match-up because he is not a ranged support and you are. Use this advantage to your favour. 
The key to win this lane is to use your blackshield.png to avoid being stunned by his passive. You want to save your blackshield.png for his passive over his braumQ.png. Only save your blackshield.png for his braumR.png if you think he is going to use it. 
Another very important thing to do is baiting his braumE.png, as he will avoid all the damage of your darkbindingmissile.png with it. This is the key to win the trades.
