Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png- Is a must (as always). You're very squishy. There really isn't an alternative, unless you wanna be adventurous with 6.png.

3.png - Standard support summoner spell. Useful for those fed assassins (or the enemy ADC). You should go this in most cases.

14.png- The alternative to 3.png. Take this if you need kill potential or if the enemy team is heavily reliant on healing. For example; 36.png16.png420.png.

7.png - Another alternative to 3.png. It synergises well with Windspeaker's Blessing but I can't recommend taking it over 3.png. Your ADC will likely find more uses out of 7.png, especially if they end up fighting solo like most do.

11.png - No.

Masteries Back to Top

Passive Lane

This is a mastery page I would use if I needed to play the lane more passively (against a 53.png or a 89.png for example.) You really don't want to be poking your head out too far in lanes like these. Just sit back and allow your ADC to farm, especially if it's a 67.png96.png or 29.png you're with. These champions thrive in the late game and don't really like fighting early unless they're already very ahead.

namiW.png whenever necessary; don't be afraid to use it if you won't get the bounce damage, though its obviously more mana efficient if you can get the poke off, too. namiE.png your ADC if they go in for some harass, remember that the effect still procs if the auto attack is in mid-flight. This is especially good for champions like 67.png and 51.png. Try to save your namiQ.png to disengage rather than forcing fights, because once it's down you are very vulnerable. The same goes for namiR.png.

Aggressive Lane

Swap Bandit for Greenfather's Gift and Windspeakers for Thunderlords. You may also want to spec into the Ferocity Tree instead of the Resolve Tree depending on how confident you are. Nami can proc Thunderlords very easily with an Auto > namiW.png > Auto and still win the trade due to the heal. Once you get namiE.png your damage gets a little scarier, but as before just be careful - you're still very squishy. Only poke when it's safe to do so (for example, when the enemy ADC is going for a last hit or the enemy support's CC is down).

This page is good against other squishy mages like 40.png16.png and 37.png, and against ADCs that can't easily bully you back early like 67.png or 96.png.

Quick Rundown

namipassive.png Passive - Probably the most underwhelming aspect of Nami's kit on paper. In practice, however, it is an incredibly potent tool for escaping or chasing enemies. The speed-up scales decently well with AP, so any AP you incorporate into the build can land you a pretty hefty speed boost.

namiQ.png Q - Your bread-and-butter skill. It's a slightly bizarre skill-shot that can take some practice to land consistently, but once you learn the timing it is a very powerful CC tool. Landing this is very important to being effective as Nami, so be sure to practice.

namiW.png W - Your heal and primary (most consistent) source of damage. The way it bounces changes depending on who you first cast it on.
On enemy cast, bounces are as follows; Enemy > Ally > Enemy.
On ally cast, bounces are as follows; Ally > Enemy > Ally.

Learn the bounce range and speed to make the best out of this ability. Coupled with namipassive.png it can really help secure kills for your team. Note that it cannot bounce to the same target more than once!

namiE.png E - The skill that most people really seem to underestimate. It's a hugely powerful kiting tool that can allow you or an ally to get off some extra damage per auto, as well as a juicy 1 second slow. Knowing when to plop it on yourself or your ADC can separate the good Namis from the great Namis.

namiR.png R - Your most powerful CC tool. A slow-moving wave of liquid destruction that both momentarily stuns enemies hit by it, and doubles the movement speed bonus of your passive to any allies that pass through it. Excellent tool for both engaging and disengaging. As with namiQ.png, make sure you learn the timing on it so you can use it effectively.

I swear I don't script, despite how suspect that dodge looks lmao.

Levelling Order

This is simply the best level-up path for Nami. namiW.png is a nice heal that only gets better the more points you put into it. The damage isn't too shabby either and can help you secure some kills.

namiQ.png just isn't worth maxing first, mostly due to the duration of the stun not increasing with level. namiE.png gets increased damage and an increased slow the higher you level it, so it's best to max it second.

Of course, take namiR.png at 6/11/16 as usual.

As a side note, namipassive.png is also a very important aspect of Nami's kit, despite people overlooking it so much. The bonus movement speed can really save your team if they're being chased or help them to catch up if they're chasing. The bonus is doubled when passing through namiR.png, so use that to your advantage as much as you can!

Alternatives

Depending on your match-up botlane, you may want to take namiE.png first over namiW.png for the increased poke. For example, if they have a squishy 22.png40.png botlane then you can get some cheesy poke in. A couple of years back I was able to get first blood on the enemy 43.png just from namiE.png and 3303.png at level 1. People tend to underestimate the damage you can do early on, especially now with Thunderlords.

Similarly, if you're invading it's probably a good idea to start namiQ.png to secure a kill. The same goes for if you're being invaded yourself. Just be sure to actually hit it! Otherwise, I don't like taking it first in lane unless you really know you can cheese the heck outta your lane opponents.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Standard start. Swap out Refillable for regular Pots if you want. Spellthiefs gives you nice stats and a bit of extra damage early. Best start if you know you're safe to poke.
If you need to play passive then this is the better start. Coin gives you good sustain along with your pots and your W.

Core Items

Frost Queen's is a huge asset to Nami's kit. It allows for better kiting and helps you land bubbles. Definitely go this in most cases.
Has good synergy with your kit as a whole. Helps you follow up and engage or disengage with your Tidal Wave.
Until this item gets nerfed, it's almost a must-buy on most any support. The stats are unbelievably good for it's price and it's active is very strong too. Plus, better heals is always a good thing.
Standard support affair. If you don't build this then you should stop playing support.
Still a very good item. Extra damage on ally-auto attacks that let them steal health? You just can't go wrong with that. Also, again, better heals and shields.
Good if you're struggling to make up that 45% CDR early game. Plus the bonus CDR on Summoner Spells can really help in the long run.
A very underrated item. Gives you 20% bonus CDR on active items, which is incredibly good with Redemption, Trinkets and Support Items. Plus the extra health is very welcome.

Situational Items

These items can be good if you desperately need the stats and item slots, but I just find the final Support Items much more impactful on games, especially since they work so well with Nami's kit.
A bit on the pricey side, however if you're ahead this item can help with your kiting and chasing. The health and AP also help Nami in general.
Not an absolutely necessary item on supports anymore. If you're lacking a tank or find you and your ADC are getting bursted down by that pesky Leblanc too quickly for your team to react, this is a good pick. The shield is also affected by Windspeaker's Blessing and other effects that boost shields and heals.
Similar logic to Redemption and Ardent Censer. Nice stats and a very nice active. You can take it just for the heal too if the enemy team lacks scary CC.
If you're dead set on building damage, this is a must buy to compensate for Nami's poor AP scaling. Otherwise, it's too expensive to consider.
If you need the defensive stats or if you're lacking a tank.
I mean you could? Probably not worth it, though if you really need the extra CC, GLP could be viable.
If you need them, go for it. Definitely wouldn't keep Mobi Boots in the late game though. Swap them for Treads or Lucidity.

VS

Alistar

Medium
Abilities: pulverize.png headbutt.png triumphantroar.png ferocioushowl.png

You can poke him down early-game if you're careful. If he combos you or your ADC try and stun the enemy ADC to mitigate as much damage as possible. Watch out for his ultimate as it will render your CC useless. Kite him once he activates his triumphantroar.png so he can't get the stun off.

Alistar can do surprising amounts of damage so don't underestimate him, especially with his headbutt.png pulverize.png combo being easier than ever to hit nowadays.

VS

Annie

Medium
Abilities: disintegrate.png incinerate.png moltenshield.png infernalguardian.png

You need to be careful in this lane. Annie will out-damage you without a doubt so be very wary if you're poking. Once she hits 6 she can melt you or your ADC, so be sure you're ready to disengage before she gets the chance to flash + stun. Otherwise she's fragile if she gets caught out.

VS

Bard

Easy
Abilities: bardQ.png bardW.png bardE.png bardR.png

He's probably not gonna be around too often, so you can take advantage of those times to engage on the enemy ADC. Avoid getting your own ADC caught in bardQ.png and you should be fine. Don't follow him through bardE.png unless you know you can kill him. He'll just stun you and dance away. And of course, watch out for those cheeky bardR.png engages. A good Bard would put this to Medium difficulty.

VS

Blitzcrank

Hard
Abilities: rocketgrab.png overdrive.png powerfist.png staticfield.png

Run. Run. Do not even try this lane. The moment you get pulled you're dead. 99% of the time. Otherwise you will be forced to burn flash and that's never any fun. Don't try to harass in this lane. Just stay back and counter-CC and kite with namiE.png as best you can if your ADC does happen to get pulled. Back right off if you ever see him activate his overdrive.png.

If you do end up in a trade, don't forget about his Mana Barrier as it will save his life and WILL bait you into tower diving if you're not paying attention.

VS

Brand

Medium
Abilities: brandblaze.png brandfissure.png brandconflagration.png brandwildfire.png

Like Annie, but Brand has a lot more early potential. He can also pull off his magic from a farther range than her. Arguably squishier until he gets Rylai's. Try and avoid his skill shots and separate from your ADC if he plops a brandwildfire.png down on you. His new passive will do a lot of damage to the both of you if he manages to proc his full combo.

VS

Braum

Medium
Abilities: braumQ.png braumW.png braumE.png braumR.png

You'll have a bit of trouble poking him down like you could Alistar, but a handy tip is that his braumE.png makes CC activate on him immediately. Throw a bubble at his braumE.png and the moment it touches that shield he'll be stunned. Of course, he completely counters your namiR.png, so make sure he's used braumE.png before you use it. Otherwise, avoid getting hit by braumQ.png and make sure you block them for your ADC if they can't/don't dodge.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy
Abilities: terrify.png drain.png fiddlesticksdarkwind.png crowstorm.png

Not sure who picks this seriously anymore, but it should be a decently easy lane. He's very fragile, so if you land namiQ.png on him he's gonna have to burn 4.png. Watch out for his crowstorm.png of course, but a well timed namiQ.png or namiR.png can leave him all washed up (hurr).

Like with brandwildfire.png, separate from your ADC when Fiddle uses fiddlesticksdarkwind.png to reduce the overall damage.

VS

Galio

Medium
Abilities: galioresolutesmite.png galiobulwark.png galiorighteousgust.png galioidolofdurand.png

Is this still a thing? Maybe. Idk. Watch out for his level 6. 4.png + galioidolofdurand.png will wreck your ADC if you're not prepared for it. Of course, landing an namiQ.png or namiR.png if you're not caught in it will counter it pretty well. His galioresolutesmite.png does decent damage, too, so be careful if you're harassing.

Other than that, he's not a great support.

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy
Abilities: h28gevolutionturret.png hextechmicrorockets.png ch1concussiongrenade.png upgrade!!!.png

Squishy. namiQ.png of death will sort him out. Just make sure you don't eat an upgrade!!!.png + hextechmicrorockets.png / ch1concussiongrenade.png or you could be in trouble. Especially mid game where his damage will have spiked from damage items like 3285.png. Be careful around his turrets, too. They're like mechanical Zyra plants except they last longer.

VS

Ivern

Easy
Abilities: ivernQ.png ivernW.png ivernE.png ivernR.png

Personally, I've not faced this before, but Ivern is easy to underestimate. He can be disgustingly hard to kill once he gets 40/45% CDR in combination with his ivernE.png, and his ivernQ.png can lead to some pretty good engages for the enemy ADC/Team. If he's used ivernQ.pngthough he's vulnerable enough and can't really assist his ADC if you engage on them. Take advantage of that long cooldown.

VS

Janna

Easy
Abilities: howlinggale.png sowthewind.png eyeofthestorm.png reapthewhirlwind.png

She's the queen of disengage. Luckily you can engage from distances her abilities won't affect. eyeofthestorm.png can be quite bothersome when you're trading, though, so do watch out for that. Otherwise, she's squishy and can be easily harassed down.

VS

Jarvan IV

Hard
Abilities: jarvanivdragonstrike.png jarvanivgoldenaegis.png jarvanivdemacianstandard.png jarvanivcataclysm.png

Discount Leona in terms of support capabilities, though a pretty cheesy pick if he picks up some damage items. If he full-on engages on you expect to burn some summoners. Remember that outside of 4.png you have no way to escape his ult, so try not to get caught out if you don't have it up. Don't poke him too much past level 2; his armour shred will hurt you pretty bad, especially if full out engages with jarvanivdemacianstandard.png+jarvanivdragonstrike.png

VS

Karma

Medium
Abilities: karmaheavenlywave.png karmaspiritbond.png karmasoulshield.png karmachakra.png

Her kit is so well balanced it's kind of hard for Nami to play against. Her karmachakra.png+karmaheavenlywave.png does massive damage so be sure to avoid it. karmasoulshield.png will mitigate your damage pretty well and her karmachakra.png+karmasoulshield.png will keep her team away from your CC. With her current itemization, she can legit just run up to you with karmasoulshield.png and karmachakra.png+karmaspiritbond.png you and get away with it, assuming her team follows up. Don't try to harass her too much after your first few backs as she'll likely be building damage by then. Again, though, a good namiQ.png can send her reeling.

VS

Kayle

Easy
Abilities: kayleQ.png kayleW.png kayleE.png kayleR.png

A very old-school pick. If she builds full support then this match-up is EASY. However, if she starts going the normal Kayle build then you could be in some pain. I remember back in Season 3(?) where Kayle was just stupidly strong and could win games on her own. "Support" Kayle was no different back then.

Take advantage of her Pre-6 weaknesses and harass her as much as you can - just try and stay out of range of kayleQ.png. And as always, don't forget about kayleR.png. You can get baited hard by it if you're not careful.

VS

Leona

Hard

Much like 53.png, getting caught by a Leona can spell disaster for you. Should she catch your ADC your best bet is to namiQ.png their ADC and use namiE.png on yourself to help kite for your own. Try and keep your CC until she engages on you, as wasting it earlier will almost certainly get you or your ADC killed.

VS

Lulu

Medium
Abilities: luluq.png luluw.png lulue.png lulur.png

She'll do more damage by poking, especially if she has Thunderlords. However, your namiW.pngis arguably better than her lulue.png, so you can play the sustain game and wait for your carry to get stronger. Just don't get baited by the lulur.png, or even the luluw.png. Again, if your ADC gets polymorphed, counter-CC Lulu's ADC to disengage, or even namiR.png if you know you have kill potential.

VS

Lux

Easy
Abilities: luxlightbinding.png luxprismaticwave.png luxlightstrikekugel.png luxmalicecannon.png

A weaker 143.png in every way as a support. namiQ.png her and watch her melt. Just be wary of the level 6 luxlightbinding.png+luxlightstrikekugel.png+luxmalicecannon.png damage. When trading with her, also watch out for her Passive, as it's super easy for her to proc Thunderlords with. luxlightbinding.png////luxlightstrikekugel.png > Auto will be enough.

VS

Morgana

Medium
Abilities: darkbindingmissile.png tormentedsoil.png blackshield.png soulshackles.png

She basically counters your whole kit. Well - single-target. As she does most support-mages. Watch out for her darkbindingmissile.png at all costs (you could write a Nami guide of your own by the time it's finished with, after all). If it does snag you, prepare to flash. Try to bait out her blackshield.png before namiQ.png. Otherwise, target whomever she didn't plop blackshield.png on. soulshackles.png spells pain so try to CC her before she can 3157.png or blackshield.png herself. Really it comes down to how good she plays. If she misses every darkbindingmissile.png and only puts blackshield.png on herself then you should be able to win trades easily.

VS

Nami

Medium
Abilities: namiQ.png namiW.png namiE.png namiR.png

Fish. Fish Fish. Double Fish. Go Fish.

This lane is weird. You're probably not gonna get anywhere if you both counter-CC each ADC. Your best bet is to play in opposition to the other Nami. If she's passive, then be aggressive. If she's aggressive, stay back and let your ADC farm. Try and make her waste mana - remember you both have the exact same namiW.png so harassing isn't as effective.

As with every mirror match-up, it comes down to the skill and experience of the players, but with support mirror match-ups, in general, your ADC will definitely decide the lane more than you.

VS

Nautilus

Medium
Abilities: nautilusanchordrag.png nautiluspiercinggaze.png nautilussplashzone.png nautilusgrandline.png

Too many Medium's on this list. Guess it's a credit to Nami that she's pretty balanced.

A good Nautilus will try and make this lane hell by engaging you whenever he can. His shield will mitigate your poke so it's best to wait to counter-CC. Remember he has long cooldowns on nautilusanchordrag.png and nautiluspiercinggaze.png, so fight when they've been wasted or used if you can.

Without his shield he's more vulnerable, obviously, but if he has his Q he can get away pretty easily.

Do not Flash behind your ADC if Nautilus nautilusgrandline.png's you. You'll likely get them killed and make them angry.

VS

Nidalee

Easy
Abilities: javelintoss.png bushwhack.png primalsurge.png aspectofthecougar.png

HAHAHAHA.

But no, this is trash. The only way you should lose this is if she's building full damage, or if you and your ADC can't dodge her spears.

VS

Nunu

Easy

Abilities: consume.png bloodboil.png iceblast.png absolutezero.png

He's very easy to poke down. His iceblast.png doesn't do nearly as much damage as it used to so you don't need to worry much about that outside of the slow. absolutezero.png is very easily canceled with namiQ.png or namiR.png. He does have decent sustain with consume.png, though, so make sure you're not wasting your mana when harassing him. His bloodboil.png also isn't as good as it was in his glory days, though it still helps the enemy ADC.

VS

Orianna

Easy

Abilities: orianaizunacommand.png orianadissonancecommand.png orianaredactcommand.png orianadetonatecommand.png

Orianna is a bizarre support pick, but she should be easy enough to deal with pre-6. Most likely she'll want to max orianaredactcommand.png, so she'll have very little damage potential. If she does max orianaizunacommand.png first then be a little more wary of the damage it can do, but also take advantage of her weak shield. Remember, "The Ball" grants vision, so if it's sitting in the brush with you, they can see you.

VS

Poppy

Medium

Abilities: poppydevastatingblow.png poppyparagonofdemacia.png poppyheroiccharge.png poppydiplomaticimmunity.png

You should be able to poke her down without much hassle. Her only form of safe harass is with her passive, so be sure to whittle her down when you get the chance. She won't be able to pull off a meaningful engage pre-6 without burning 4.png unless you're standing too close to a wall. Just remember that poppyparagonofdemacia.png gives her increased movement speed, so she can find ways of dodging or getting close enough to engage on you if you're not paying attention.

VS

Sejuani

Medium

Abilities: sejuaniarcticassault.png sejuaninorthernwinds.png sejuaniwintersclaw.png sejuaniglacialprisonstart.png

Same deal with 111.png. Innately tanky but has long and expensive cooldowns. Abuse her whilst they're down. Remember to watch out for sejuaniglacialprisonstart.png, as it can lead to some brutal engages.

VS

Shen

Medium

Abilities: shenvorpalstar.png shenfeint.png shenshadowdash.png shenstandunited.png

Don't expect to see this too often. Using his shenstandunited.png on any ally outside of his lane will leave his ADC vulnerable. It really hurts his viability.

He can be poked safely as long as you keep out of his shenshadowdash.png range, or if you're prepared to namiQ.png him or the enemy ADC if he does engage. Watch out for the shenfeint.png as it can leave your ADC useless. Try to kite him out of it if possible.

VS

Singed

Easy

Abilities: poisontrail.png megaadhesive.png fling.png insanitypotion.png

BANNED.

But no. Before he gets tanky he's probably not gonna try and fling.png you unless you're way outta position. Land an namiQ.png on him and you'll be good. If he does start running towards you just CC him and walk away, making use of your own passive for the speed boost.

VS

Sion

Easy

Abilities: crypticgaze.png deathscaressfull.png enrage.png cannibalism.png

You can safely poke him down if you're both in the brushes, as he has almost no way to respond to you. You have the range advantage. Of course, he might try and enrage.png minions into you, which can do hefty damage if he decides to max it first. Other than that, dodge his cannibalism.png and namiQ.png him whilst he's charging up crypticgaze.png. Just be wary of his passive. It'll probably catch you off guard if you don't play against him much.

VS

Sona

Medium

Abilities: sonahymnofvalor.png sonaariaofperseverance.png sonasongofdiscord.png sonacrescendo.png

By itself, your heal is far superior to hers, though costs more mana, so she'll be able to spam it more often which could be a problem. She also has higher damage output than you, however, before level 6 she is a lot more vulnerable than you are. Trade with her as best you can, making sure you use namiW.png to heal up her sonahymnofvalor.png Power Chord damage. Just watch our for sonacrescendo.png, as it can change the course of a trade/teamfight and goes off a lot quicker than namiR.png

VS

Soraka

Easy

Abilities: starcall.png astralblessing.png infuse.png wish.png

In theory, this lane should be simple enough to deal with - just make sure you focus 16.png in fights so she can't heal the ADC. 14.png is a pretty big counter to her, so if you know you're facing one I highly recommend you take it over 3.png. Remember that infuse.png is on a huge cooldown early, so if she tries to use it for poke you have a good window of opportunity to engage.

VS

Tahm Kench

Medium

Abilities: tahmkenchQ.png tahmkenchW.png tahmkenchE.png tahmkenchR.png

Don't see this fella too much nowadays (or I don't, anyway), but you're not gonna be able to harass him very effectively. The slow on his tahmkenchQ.png can be pretty brutal once he maxes it out and it leaves you very vulnerable to free damage if you can't namiQ.png his ADC. His tahmkenchE.png leaves him incredibly tanky without even trying, so consider that when going all-in. A good Kench will prioritize tahmkenchW.png 'ing his ADC before you can land namiQ.png or namiR.png, and it shares the exact same cooldown as namiQ.png to boot.

He's very anti-fun. I hate playing against him.

VS

Taric

Medium

Abilities: imbue.png shatter.png dazzle.png tarichammersmash.png

Having played quite a lot of him myself, I know that Taric can just skip right up to you and hit you up with the ol' razzle dazzle.png without much grief on his part, and whilst you CAN counter-CC as normal with champions like these, Taric himself does a decent chunk of damage with his passive. You won't be able to do much if he 4.png+dazzle.png you and his ADC is able to follow up with CC of their own, so avoid showing face too much in lane.

And, again, his ultimate tarichammersmash.png can bait you pretty hard if you're not ready for it or don't have the damage to burst them down before the 2.5 seconds is up.

Luckily, your heal is far superior to his own - and many Taric players will prematurely use imbue.png due to impatience.

VS

Thresh

Medium

Abilities: threshQ.png threshW.png threshE.png threshR.png

This is a lane that I find completely even. Thresh has a very well rounded kit and it clashes quite well with Nami's. It all depends on the skill of the individual supports and their ADCs.

Thresh will most likely start threshE.png, so avoid pushing up too far to harass, otherwise, he'll threshE.png you towards him and his ADC. Also note that the direction Thresh is facing during the initial wind-up of threshQ.png is not always indicative of where he's gonna throw it. A good Thresh will try to psyche you out by facing one way and throwing his hook in the other. This is perhaps one of the harder skillshots to dodge and you can only learn with practice.

Standard affair, if he engages your ADC, hit his up with a juicy namiQ.png. If you know you can survive the engage it's usually a better idea to block the threshQ.png yourself, then bubble atop yourself to stun Thresh and his ADC if he pulled them in with threshW.png.

VS

Vel'Koz

Medium

Abilities: velkozQ.png velkozW.png velkozE.png velkozR.png

He doesn't have quite the same early game kill potential that Annie, Brand and Zyra have, however, he can poke you from even farther away. If he is doing that, then you just need to heal up his poke, as he won't be able to do much else without getting closer - where he's vulnerable to a namiQ.png. Like the other 3 "should-be-midlane-but-work-really-well-support" champions, he's super squishy and won't be doing huge damage until he gets at least one damage item (3285.png//3165.png

Of course, that doesn't make his velkozR.png any less scary. Just remember it's very slow moving, and he's an exceptionally easy namiQ.png target if he's caught up in it.

This lane goes to Hard if it happens to be the dreaded 202.png + 161.png combo, it's very easy to get caught; between the slow on velkozQ.pngjhinR.png and jhinE.png along with the stuns from velkozE.png and jhinW.png.

VS

Volibear

Medium

Abilities: volibearq.png volibearw.png volibeare.png volibearr.png

This is another really cheesy pick, and very easily underestimated. Though he's easy to kite for Nami, in an all-in fight you really need to be careful of his volibearw.png damage once it hits full stacks. That only gets scarier once he hits 6 and gets volibearr.png

Of course, the real annoying thing about him is his passive, which can save him from certain death if you just don't have enough damage - which is very likely early on depending on who you're laning with.

Outside of that though, an namiQ.png or namiR.png should stop his volibearq.png engage, helped along by namiE.png on either you or your ADC.

VS

Zilean

Easy

Abilities: timebomb.png rewind.png timewarp.png chronoshift.png

This lane should be straightforward. Zilean is super squishy, so a namiQ.png should force him to flash if your ADC follows up. A good Zilean will manage his timebomb.png and timewarp.png around his rewind.png, so watch out for the E > Q > W > Q > E combo - particularly if he's maxing E. That 99% slow at level 9 is dangerous.

Remember about his chronoshift.png, of course. It's usually best to not kill the target he casts it on until it wears off - though in some cases it may be necessary to secure the kill. Killing his target will leave them invulnerable for at least 2.5 seconds (rough estimate, don't quote), so use that time to line up a juicy namiQ.png.

VS

Zyra

Medium

Abilities: zyraQ.png zyraW.png zyraE.png zyraR.png

I really hate this champion. In just about any matchup. Her damage output is insane and she can honestly just win botlane by herself. You can heal most of it up but getting caught in the zyraE.png + zyraW.png + zyraR.png is almost certainly death if you can't 4.png. Make sure you step over any of her unbloomed zyraW.png if she's not around/can't land anything on you to reduce her overall damage output. The only saving grace is that she is, again, very squishy, so catching her out with a namiQ.png will help a lot.

Remember that a good Zyra will zyraE.png before planting any zyraW.png seeds. This combo makes it difficult for the opponent to see it coming, so if you see her planting them first, prepare yourself for either a Q or an E.

Synergies Back to Top

ADCs

  • 22.png - Your namiE.png gives Ashe a lot more kiting potential than she already has - plus that slow on top of her own perma-slows makes it pretty easy to land an namiQ.png. Your ults also synergise really well if you can chain the CC. asheR.png + namiR.png

  • 51.png - Again, namiE.png works really well with Caitlyn, adding some extra damage to her extensive range. It's also a good idea to smack it on her as she's firing off a headshot for the extra burst. Caitlyn should also take advantage of your namiQ.png to place a caitlynyordletrap.png underneath the enemy.

  • 119.png - Tons of damage. I find these two synergise especially well. Nami's CC allows Draven to get all of his damage off in quick succession, with the little extra added on by namiE.png. You'd be lucky to get away from this comp played correctly.

  • 81.png - ezrealmysticshot.png procs your namiE.png. Enough said, really. A good Ezreal can burst down the enemy ADC easily with a Nami's help. His blink also helps him respond to your engages.

  • 202.png - Nami's CC and heal really help to soothe Jhin's weaknesses - those being his reload system and relatively fragile nature. This duo is very similar to Caitlyn in terms of gameplay - Jhin is just a lot scarier.

  • 222.png - Like Draven, Nami's CC allows Jinx to get off her huge damage easily. And, like Caitlyn, she can sync up her jinxE.png with your CC. namiE.png'd rocket auto attacks are also very powerful for chasing people down, along with her jinxW.png. Additionally, Nami's passive is great on Jinx, making an already scary killing machine even scarier once jinxpassive.png procs.

  • 21.png - The wombo combo on the ults is really the main reason for this one - although namiQ.png does also allow MF to easily set up the missfortunescattershot.png+missfortunebullettime.png combo. missfortunepassive.png + namiE.png is also a pretty sore combination for the enemy to eat.

  • 67.png29.png - For the same reasons, Nami is great with these two. Not only can she babysit them effectively until the mid-game, but her CC works tremendously well with both champion's kits. Having your Twitch flank the enemy team (with namiE.png and 3504.png effects active) just as Nami sends out a namiR.png is a very effective combo.

Others

  • 32.png54.png154.png37.png59.png61.png105.png - The ult wombo combo is real.

  • ANY AUTO-ATTACKING CHAMPION - namiE.png is just great.

Introduction/Closing Statement Back to Top

Hello! This is the first guide I've ever made for anything, let alone for a champion in this game. I decided that I wanted to make this, though, as I adore playing 267.png whenever possible. I've been playing since late Season 2, so I've had plenty of time to practice with her. She is my go to support, after all.

In terms of skill level, I'm currently sitting at Gold IV on EUW, though I know I can climb higher if I really want too. Don't take that as a sign of incompetence, though. Not all the good guides are from people with a LKS of 2000+ (I think). I have 71,387 Mastery Points on Nami and I'm enjoying my Mastery 7 on her quite a bit.

I hope this guide is easy enough to understand, and I hope it helps people who are looking to pick up this amazing champion!
